I spent some time on my mat this morning, which helped so much and going to try and carry that with me - remembering that Yoga comes off the mat too, it’s not solely a physical practice. I wasn’t planning to share this today, because I would hate anyone coming to one of our events this week to think I don’t want to be there because trust me I love every second of the events themselves and meeting our community is the best part of my job, but I thought it was important to raise it because it’s ok to say that sometimes you’re not as ok as you’d like to be. No ones perfect, we’re all constantly working on our mental wellbeing. Social media might be shiny, but don’t forget there’s a human behind each screen and we’re just looking at a space of inspiration most of the time❤️❤️❤️

There was a moment last year where I genuinely thought about stopping Deliciously Ella. We got caught up in such a negative conversation and the whole idea of eating well seemed to be so confused. I realised at this point there was only one way forward if I wanted to keep our mission to make veggies ... There was a moment last year where I genuinely thought about stopping Deliciously Ella. We got caught up in such a negative conversation and the whole idea of eating well seemed to be so confused. I realised at this point there was only one way forward if I wanted to keep our mission to make veggies a little cooler going, and that was to be ok with everyone having an opinion on us. As long as we were still helping broccoli and lentils become part of our everyday then it was worth it. So few of us manage to eat our five a day (barely more than 1/4 of the UK) and the only way to change that is to change the preconceptions of these kinds of ingredients is to make them beautiful and delicious, and I believe that’s important for our health and for the health of our planet. I’ve spent a long time working on building that inner strength to not mind what anyone thinks and eighteen months later I’ve never ever felt happier or more excited about what we do. We need more plants, more love, more happiness, more joy and more community. Seeing the podcast hit #1 and you guys fall in love with the book honestly makes my heart want to explode with love and pride for this community. Me and my banana bread are going to be controversial for one minute 😱 I’m not one for preaching or thinking there’s one set way of doing something, but equally I think there are conversations that need to be had and interesting facts for us to share. We’ve all heard a lot about things like plastic straws and bottles at the moment, which I’m not saying is a bad thing and of course we should cut down on them, but the more I read the more I think we’re slightly shifting the blame at the easiest targets without really taking responsibly for what’s going on with our planet and today after reading something on the fashion industry I wanted to share a little thought about a vegan diet and it’s role within the debate on plastic. Did you know that in the Great Pacific Patch, the worlds largest collection of floating trash, fishing nets account for 46 percent of the trash, with the majority of the rest composed of other fishing industry gear, including ropes, oyster spacers, eel traps, crates, and baskets? Plastic straws and bottles and other types of products are just a tiny fraction. We get a lot of complaints about our packaging being plastic and it’s something we’re looking at, but as it stands glass isn’t better due to the environmental impact of transportation and food waste is the third biggest contributer to climate change so food safety is key in that respect and we’re struggling to find anything that does the trick in terms of stopping waste, and we don’t have the conditions in the UK for compostable materials so those are just smoke and mirrors most of the time. That’s the case for so many of the things we buy right now, but we can cut down on fish and meat, we can be conscious in the way we consume and we can stop to just reflect on how our personal choices impact our children’s future. No one needs to do 100% of anything but I do think it’s just worth noting the impact our diets can have because it’s not something we talk about that much and recently I’ve just a bit sorry for the straw, I feel it’s taking more than it’s fair weight of the blame! I’ve often struggled to find balance in my life, I have a tendency to take on a lot and do everything at a thousand ... Officially a yoga teacher!!! I’ve loved every second of the last month, it’s been such a powerful and transformational time and I’ve learnt so much both about the practice and myself. I’ve often struggled to find balance in my life, I have a tendency to take on a lot and do everything at a thousand miles an hour, I can be pretty emotional and taking ups with the downs isn’t my strongest quality - I feel everything so deeply and can get too caught up on the small things. This journey has helped me cement and expand the tools that balance that, it’s shown me how to step back from my constant stream of thoughts and has sparked my creativity more intensely than anything else in the last few years. I’m feeling so inspired and excited right now, being able to follow my dreams and passions and make them my reality is something I’m so incredibly grateful for and the people I’ve met in the last month have taught me more than I can say. For those wondering what’s next with my yoga, I’m still figuring out exactly how it will fit into Deliciously Ella going forward and truthfully I’m pretty nervous about starting to teach too as I’m still so new to it. I keep telling myself that every teacher started from this point though - everyone is a beginner at the start and we grow from there and that’s an exciting thought because the process of growing is going to be amazing. I’ve got loads more to learn and I can’t wait to keep exploring with you guys❤️
