diy vision board

what is it?
a vision board is a tool used to help clarify, concentrate and maintain focus on a specific life goal. literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do, or have in your life.

getting started:
1. get a board – this can be one of those wire boards, a poster board, a cork board, etc. you could even just do it on pinterest.
2. add your decor – photos, quotes, letters, etc. add a photo of your dream job, dream car, dream room, dream haircut, a fitness routine, how you want your meals to look like, etc.
3. fill it up – fill in every part. try not to leave any blank space showing.

romantic gestures

💌 record a love message on your partner’s phone. set an alarm for a time when you’re not around them with a message saying “check your recorder app/voice recorder”.
🥂 clasp hands when you’re crossing a street or walking through a crowd. wrap your arms around your lover when you’re standing close to each other, and don’t keep more than a feet’s distance between each other unless you have no choice!
🌹 write little love notes and slip it into your lover’s pocket even if it’s just a little ‘i love you’. these notes don’t have to be elaborate. even a little lipstick mark on a piece of paper will bring the same smile!
💌 surprise your partner by taking her out to a nearby favorite picnic spot late in the night while she’s still in her night suit. spread a blanket on the ground and have an impromptu getaway with champagne and strawberries. or plan a surprise weekend getaway to a nearby place.
🥂 help your partner prepare dinner and clean the dishes. think of something innovative to do while you’re at it, like cooking while wearing nothing but aprons or a little food fight.
🌹 look into your partner’s eyes and say “i love you”. say it like you mean it without trying to be funny or sounding corny.
💌 spend time with your partner now and then when they’re enjoying their favorite hobby, even if it’s something that doesn’t interest you much.
🥂 plan a flash mob dance along with friends on your partner’s special day.
🌹 dedicate a song and sing it out in a karaoke bar for your partner. a few glasses of booze can give you the courage you need. but if you’re too shy for that, sing it over the phone.
💌 give your partner a foot massage when both of you are relaxing on the couch. hold your partner’s hand and waltz while humming your lover’s favorite tune. look for little ways to bring a smile on your lover’s face.
🥂 give him a shave when he’s lazy. help her brush her hair when she’s in a hurry.
🌹 stop on your way back home and pick up your partner’s favorite dessert for a late night treat.
💌 give each other inexpensive well wrapped gifts every now and then. it could be chocolates, flowers, a game cd, or even a potted plant.

what are crisis pregnancy centers & why are they bad?

crisis pregnancy centers (CPC’s) are normally faith-based. they’re centers that provide MISLEADING information on pregnancy, abortion, and reproductive healthcare in general. they often masquerade as abortion clinics or licensed medical facilities ― sometimes even cloaking their unlicensed staffers in medical garb ― in order to attract pregnant women who are weighing their options. they dissuade people from having abortions.

they outnumber the number of abortion clinics — there are more than 3,000 around the u.s. CPC’s are usually near hospitals and abortion clinics.

they often offer ultrasounds, pregnancy tests and free diapers, but they often have no doctors or licensed medical professionals on the premises. highway billboards for the centers lure women in with the message, “pregnant? scared? we offer confidential counseling.” their websites often advertise “abortion information” and carry slogans like, “we inform. you decide.”

instead of informing pregnant women and girls about their full range of reproductive options, they push the myths that abortion leads to suicide and drug addiction, that condoms don’t work because they’re “naturally porous” and that birth control causes hair loss, memory loss, headaches, weight gain and breast cancer.

one woman who visited a care net CPC in rapid city, south dakota, seeking abortion information told a cosmopolitan writer that the counselor prayed over her, asked to be invited to her baby shower, and then proceeded to call her every day for the next two weeks, sometimes from restricted numbers, saying she just wanted to “chitchat.” wtf.

CPCs date back to the 1960s, when a catholic homebuilder named robert pearson opened the first center in hawaii. in 1969, Pearson founded the pearson foundation in st. louis, missouri, with a mission to train people to open their own local anti-abortion outreach centers. the foundation’s training materials included a 27-minute slideshow of photos of bloody fetuses in trashcans that compared abortion to the holocaust and a 93-page guidebook on how to mislead women.

cuticle care guide

♡ don’t cut them!
cuticles act as a barrier to protect your nails from external forces such as bacteria against infection. frayed skin around the cuticles occurs if you trim them too much. you should never remove them either. and don’t cover them up with (toxic) nail polish.

♡ gently push them back
make your cuticles soft by soaking them in warm water, then push them back gently by using a wooden stick, cuticle pusher, or q-tip.

♡ moisturize them
apply a few drops of cuticle oil, and let it soak in. you can also use a cuticle cream. you can easily make your own too. be sure to moisture the rest of your hands as well.

♡ protect them
don’t bite your nails, pick at your cuticles, and wear gloves when you do dishes. also, moisturize to protect against dry skin.

♡ diy cuticle cream from wellnessmama.com
- 5 drops non-gmo vitamin e oil
- 4 ½ tsp sweet almond oil
- ½ tsp jojoba oil
- 1 tsp beeswax
- 3 drops helichrysum essential oil (can substitute lavender essential oil)
- 5 drops lemon essential oil
- 3 drops sweet orange essential oil (omit if using lavender)
melt the wax, jojoba oil, and almond oil together. let cool a tiny bit before adding the vitamin e and eo’s. mix well. store in a 1 oz tin. let cool and become firm at room temp. rub a little bit into your cuticles. don’t apply nail polish right after applying the cream, it’ll keep the polish from sticking. i personally plan on making this.

types of orgasms

1. clitoral
* achieved by stimulation of the clitoris (glans, shaft, crura, vestibular bulbs)

2. vaginal/cervical
* penetrative orgasms (by toys, fingers, penis, etc.)
* 30% of people report that they can orgasm from penetration alone

3. g-spot
* stimulation of the g-spot
* the g-spot is located on the urethral sponge and can be by inserting fingers into the vagina, palm forward and crooking your fingers
* because the g-spot is located on the urethral sponge, this type of orgasm may make you feel like you have to pee

4. anal
* stimulation of the rectum

5. boobgasms
* stimulation of the breasts/nipples
* can happen to parents who are breast-feeding

6. u-spot
* the urethral opening is surrounded by erectile tissue and stimulation of this tissue can lead to a u-spot orgasm
* DON’T INSERT OBJECTS INTO THE URETHRA BECAUSE YOU WILL GET A UTI OR ANOTHER INFECTION

7. combo/blended
* multi-faceted stimulation

8. tension
* pressure in erotic zones resulting from clenching muscles
* quick and easy

9. relaxation

10. pressure
* achieved through fricton in erotic zones
* for example, rocking back and forth, squeezing your legs together

11. multiple
* lots of orgasms in quick succession

12. fantasy
* stimulation of the most erotic organ–the brain!
* a lot of other orgasm will involve some amount of fantasy, but a fantasy orgasm occurs from only mental fantasy, not physical stimulation

13. emotion-gasm

🛫 what is it?
airbnb is a site where you can book places to stay, instead of your typical hotel. you can stay in people’s apartments, castles, boats, yurts, treehouses, etc. airbnb also offers experiences to purchase and try – wine tasting, scuba diving, kayaking, cooking classes, etc. you can also become a host on airbnb and upload your own place, but this post is about using the site to book places to stay.

⛴ check the amenities
you probably want a kitchen if you plan on making your own foods.

🚄 read the reviews
as you should with everything, be sure the place you’re checking out has good feedback.

🛵 check the location
if the price seems too good to be true, make sure the place isn’t in the middle of nowhere or in an unsafe neighborhood.

🚎 check for weekly/monthly discounts
sometimes, it’ll be cheaper if you stay longer.

🚁 if renting a private room, check the fine print
things such as who will i be sharing with (some people run there apartments like hostels and rent out multiple bedrooms to different people), what is the bathroom situation, is security a concern (most private rooms don't have their own locks), does the host have kids (that's certainly an apartment we'd choose to pass-over) and will i have access to all the facilities (several places we've come across limit you to your room only) are all issues that need to be considered.

🏨 check extra fees
that means security budgets, cleaning fees, etc.

🚏 booking is not always instant
whilst there are certainly a number of 'instant book' properties on the website (those with the lightning bolt next to them), for most you have to contact the host to check the availability. this may mean a quick response and a booking not long after, but in some situations, such as during high season, you'll be met with stoney silence or a polite message from the host stating that they're fully booked.

eating when you’re nauseous

intro: i’m almost always nauseous, so i personally needed this tip. hopefully it helps some of you too.

🍚 foods to eat:
- ginger
- water (coconut water too)
- sports drinks
- iced tea
- soda drinks
- crackers, pretzels & toast
- broths
- cold foods
- bananas
- applesauce
- rice, potatoes & noodles
- protein-rich meals
- herbal teas

🥓 foods to avoid:
- fatty, greasy, or fried foods
- very sweet foods
- spicy foods
- foods with strong odors
- alcohol
- caffeine

🧀 other tips:
- eat something small every 1–2 hours: avoid skipping meals, as an empty stomach can worsen nausea.
- eat and drink slowly and in small amounts: this allows you to relax during meals and take time to enjoy your food. you may also want to avoid consuming liquids and solids at the same time.
- do not lie flat after eating: avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes after eating, as this can put pressure on your stomach, making nausea worse.
- avoid food preparation: the smell while cooking and preparing food can worsen nausea. if possible, avoid or shorten the time spent in the kitchen.
- keep your mouth clean: nausea and vomiting can leave an unpleasant taste in your mouth, which may prevent you from eating. rinse and brush your teeth regularly and use sugar-free mints to keep feeling fresh.

body positivity for warmer weather

- nobody’s body looks the same as it did the year before. nobody will remember that you fit something last year that’s too small this year, or that you were shaped differently.
- scars, moles, eczema, acne, cellulite, stretch marks, discoloration, etc are not shameful, gross, etc or necessary to hide
- however, if you feel insecure about specific areas and you feel uncomfortable to the point that exposing them would be stressful/anxiety provoking: one-piece swimsuits, knee-length shorts (normal and swim shorts), rompers, long sleeved shirts, wide-legged pants, jumpsuits, and shift dresses can help if you don’t want to be shirtless/wear a bikini or short shorts/expose certain areas
- everybody on the damn planet has rolls you’re not alone
- the idea of a “beach body” is shitty and inaccurate. all you need for a beach body is a bathing suit and a body.
- remember sunscreen and water
- you don’t have to adjust your routines or eating habits in preparation for summer: you don’t have to alter yourself in order to be presentable or acceptable
- it’s okay to be lax about your eating, it happens a lot on holidays and vacations and it will not have the effect on ur looks that u think it will
- putting on a big tshirt, listening to ur favorite music, or even asking a friend for validation could help if you want to deal w ur negative feelings in a positive way!

what to do after you discover you’re pregnant

intro: there is a mention of abortion in this post, it is a pregnancy post after all. i am 100% pro-choice, so no hate of any kind will be tolerated. you are not welcome on my account and you will be blocked :’)

give yourself time to take in the news:
scream, shout with glee, whatever you have to do, get it out of your system. you have plenty of time to plan because your baby (if you plan on keeping it) won’t be born for another nine months or so.

decide what you’re going to do;
adoption, keep it, abortion. no matter what you choose, the choice is YOURS. it is YOURS YOURS YOURS. not your mom’s, not the dude’s who knocked you up, it’s YOURS. only YOU can make the decision.

the adoption route:
find an adoption agency. read every little detail. just remember, you are not a bad person for giving your baby up for adoption. maybe you’re too young, you don’t have the money... whatever the reason, it’s your reason, it’s your choice.

the keeping route:
choose a doctor (midwife), choose a hospital, check insurance coverage, check into maternity/paternity leave, shop for baby and maternity stuff (later on - thrifting is a smart idea! or hand-me-downs). make sure you’re in the right place to take care of a child, it’s not a puppy – that means you’re mature and responsible enough, you’ll have time to watch over them and raise them, and you have the money. kids ain’t cheap. you’ll probably have to make some adjustments to your lifestyle - eat healthier, stop with the drugs/alcohol, etc (you’d have to do this with the adoption route too, most of these actually overlap if you plan on giving birth).

the abortion route:
remember, having an abortion doesn’t make you a bad person. your body, your choice. go to a planned parenthood (or another family planning center) or speak with your doctor if you’re considering an abortion. just don’t go to fake clinics, they’re called crisis pregnancy centers (i’m gonna have a separate post on this). go as early as you can.

exposing starcrushedminerals

starcrushedminerals is a makeup brand that sells affordable makeup - mainly eyeshadows, glitter, and highlighters. they’re very nice and they have great prices. there’s even more stuff i want to order from them, however, i won’t be. here’s why.

back in february, i placed two orders, one right after the other. they always have 60% off, 70% off, etc deals going on, so their stuff is cheap. bc of this, shipping may take longer since they get more orders. that’s fine, they release that info. i got both of my orders within the next month or so.

in my first order (second one was fine), i noticed i was missing three pressed eyeshadows (they were in my invoice, i paid for them), so i dmed and emailed the brand (never replied back through email, said dm was the best way to contact). slide through the photos to see some of our conversations.

i waited and gave them months to send me my three eyeshadows (little eyeshadows, not that hard to send), and they kept telling me they were on the way. well they’re clearly weren't. i also noticed that they deleted one of my comments on a post of theirs asking about my items (they also deleted someone else’s comment i noticed). they’ve even left some of my dms on seen ???

they finally replied to my dm (after i had to message them a second time). they sent me proof of the label with tracking info after i asked. so i waited, but ofc i wasn’t hopeful as they did lie to me before, as you can see in the pictures, telling me my order was on the way. they did lie, however, when they said the order was in their hands and was going out that day, because i checked the tracking a couple days after that convo, and the package didn’t even leave their place yet.

on july 14, i finally received my items, which i should’ve gotten five months ago. they even gave me a free highlighter, surprisingly. the shadows are good, except one of them feels like really bad quality, but whatever, i’m done dealing with these guys. and maybe scraping off the top layer of the shadow will help.

what’s wrong with your cacti & succulents

🌚 too dim
- succulents and cacti love light. though some species (for succulents, try haworthia or gasteria; for cacti, try epiphytes like rhipsalis and hatiora) can tolerate lower light, no succulent or cactus we’ve ever met wants to sit on your dark office desk. these guys need to be near a window to thrive, preferably with a south-facing exposure to really maximize the day. finsing a bright spot in your home is a first step in knowing if you’re ready to care for succulents and cacti.
- succulents behave strangely when they don’t get enough light. often, you’ll see discoloration in your succulents if they need more light – deep green will fade to pale green, and bright pink, purple or yellow colors will often revert to just plain green. - too little light also affects the growth habit of succulents. succulents will try to reach for light, often growing long and spindly. succulents that normally grow in rosettes, like sempervivum and echeveria species, may suddenly start growing tall – literally reaching for more light.
- same goes for cacti. what was once dark, healthy flesh can grow pale as the cactus reaches for light. In addition, like the “reaching” succulents, cacti not receiving sufficient light will also put out strange growth patterns. this is called etiolation; new growth will typically be much smaller than the rest of the plant; sometimes new branches will come out that are long and tendril-like, or the new growth on the top of the cactus will be unusually skinny.
- while succulents and cacti can recover from receiving too little light, the etiolated growth habit will be permanent. many succulents and cacti recover will to pruning; if the weird growth pattern bothers you, try clipping it off. so long as you move your plant to a location in which it will receive adequate light, the new growth that emerges should be “normal” and non-etiolated.
- and finally, not having enough light also leads to root rot, because soil will stay moist for too long.

how to: tell if you’re pregnant

intro: cis-gendered language ahead. all of this info comes from @frizzlestics.

• before you take a pregnancy test, you may notice early symptoms. some of the most notable signs of early pregnancy include fatigue, nausea (also called “morning sickness”), swollen or tender breasts, and constipation.
• some women may also experience cramps and light bleeding. this light bleeding is called implantation bleeding, and most often occurs within one to two weeks of fertilization. spotting may follow, but the bleeding is not as heavy as a typical period. in some cases, implantation bleeding is mistaken for menstruation.
• symptoms vary between women. some women may experience different symptoms between pregnancies. for example, you might experience morning sickness in your first pregnancy but not your second. early pregnancy symptoms should not be your sole source of pregnancy confirmation. the mayo clinic points out that many of these signs are also related to other health conditions, including PMS.

pregnancy prevention:
women who are sexually active with male partner(s) should consider forms of birth control if they are not interested in becoming pregnant. some methods of pregnancy prevention work better for some individuals. talk to your doctor about birth control that is right for you.

💋| condoms!
using a condom to prevent pregnancy is known to be 98 percent effective. however, that statistic is based on “perfect” use in ideal conditions. this means that there are a handful of factors that may go wrong and lower the effectiveness of condoms. these include:
- using expired condoms
- storing condoms improperly
- condoms tearing during use
if you’re relying on condoms to avoid getting pregnant, you may want to consider using an additional method of contraception such as spermicide or a hormonal birth control pill.
-
💋| the pill (or injection, implant, etc)!
hormonal birth control pills are a popular method of contraception. available by prescription, these pills work by controlling the hormone levels in a woman’s body. birth control pills work in three ways:

skinfood review

intro: skinfood is a korean skincare brand. i bought the products from my local ulta. they had a bogo 50% off deal going on, so that was really good. i have combination oily acne-prone skin for reference.

haul:
1. rice brightening scrub foam – i bought this bc i needed a new scrub, and the one i wanted was just too pricey for the little amount i would’ve gotten. i’ve heard all of the benefits of rice for acne and that it can help brighten the skin. i really like it. it helps cleanse and freshen up my face and it has a light scent to it.
2. egg white pore mask - i got this to help control oil, refine pores, and to help with anti-aging. it has a light scent to it and the whiteness of the mask is pretty cool. it is a heavier mask, but i don’t mind.
3. freshmade watermelon mask – smells just like watermelon jolly ranchers! the jelly mask is so soothing and fun. it’s hydrating, soothing, lightweight, and can help with oil production.
4. freshmade lemon mask – again, another lovely feeling, lightweight gel mask. the lemon scent is so nice. this mask helps with brightening and clearing acne.

overall:
the brand is cruelty free and their packaging and whole aesthetic is nice. their prices are a little more on the pricey side, but it isn’t too bad, especially with the deals ulta tends to have. i recommend this brand and i plan on buying more of their masks and probably some other stuff too.

diy anti-wrinkle eye cream

ingredient breakdown:
• rosehip seed oil – anti-aging, renews skin cells, repairs damaged tissue and fades age spots
• mango butter – rich in antioxidants, fatty acids and stearic acid
• vitamin e oil – blocks free radical damage, boosts collagen production, supports new skin cell growth and speeds up cell regeneration
• cypress eo – reduces swelling and tightens skin
• geranium eo - balances sebum, keeps skin supple and smooth
• lavender eo - calms skin inflammation, relieves dry skin
• helichrysum eo - helps circulation, aids tissue regeneration
• frankincense eo – astringent, tightens skin and helps speed up cell regeneration

ingredients:
• 100 grams mango butter
• 1 oz rosehip seed oil
• 1/2 oz vitamin e oil
• 20 drops cypress essential oil
• 20 drops lavender eo
• 20 drops geranium eo
• 10 drops helichrysum eo
• 10 drops frankincense eo

directions:
1. measure out the mango butter in a microwave safe glass dish.
2. add the rosehip seed oil and vitamin e oil.
3. pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute. [i] never heat it until completely melted because the more you heat it, the more the beneficial properties are reduced. [i] generally heat it for 30 seconds until it’s half melted and stir it until completely melted.
4. let sit for at least 10 minutes until the glass is cool to the touch before you add the essential oils. again, the least amount of heat possible to minimize the reduction of the powerful properties in those essential oils.
5. add your eo’s.
6. stir well and pour in to your glass pots or whatever you plan to store it in. allow to cool completely.
7. the person who made this recipe said it made twice as much as they need, so you might be able to half it.

all about mourning

TW: death, mourning, su*cide

🥀 what is grief?
grief is a natural response to loss. it’s the emotional suffering you feel when something or someone you love is taken away. the more significant the loss, the more intense your grief will be. you may associate grieving with the death of a loved one—which is often the cause of the most intense type of grief—but any loss can cause grief, including:
1. divorce or relationship breakup
2. loss of health
3. losing a job
4. loss of financial stability
5. a miscarriage
6. retirement
7. death of a pet
8. loss of a cherished dream
9. a loved one's serious illness
10. loss of a friendship
11. loss of safety after a trauma
12. selling the family home
even subtle losses in life can trigger a sense of grief. for example, you might grieve after moving away from home, graduating from college, or changing jobs. whatever your loss, it’s personal to you, so don’t feel ashamed about how you feel, or believe that it’s somehow only appropriate to grieve for certain things. if the person, animal, relationship, or situation was significant to you, it’s normal to grieve the loss you’re experiencing.

🕯 coping with grief:
while experiencing loss is an inevitable part of life, there are ways to help cope with the pain, come to terms with your grief, and eventually, find a way to pick up the pieces and move on with your life.
1. acknowledge your pain.
2. accept that grief can trigger many different and unexpected emotions.
3. understand that your grieving process will be unique to you.
4. seek out face-to-face support from people who care about you.
5. support yourself emotionally by taking care of yourself physically.
6. recognize the difference between grief and depression.

🍾 the grieving process:
grieving is a highly individual experience; there’s no right or wrong way to grieve. how you grieve depends on many factors, including your personality and coping style, your life experience, your faith, and how significant the loss was to you.

tips for staying cool

1. take a towel, or some sort of cloth and wet it with cold water. wring it out well, then place it around the back of your neck. you can use the rag on your head or wherever you like but the back of the neck works well for most.
2. if possible, use two rags at a time. when the one you’re using heats up, you can put in a cold bucket or sink of water and pull the second one out which is ready. depending on what you use you can even put it in your freezer. let any possible ice on the outside of the cloth melt so that you aren’t putting ice directly onto your skin. if you’ve rolled up a towel or something like that, there will be ice inside that will keep it cooler for longer.
3. fill a container with water and freeze it. when ready, go into the room you want to use, place the ice in front of a fan, and turn the fan on. it should cool the room well. remember to make sure your ice will melt into a container. the wider your ice block is, the better this set up will work thanks to the larger surface.
4. you feel too hot to sleep, consider trying this: go to the bathroom with your PJ top. then on the cold water tap at the sink and soak your PJ top. now wring it out as much as you possibly can. put it on and go to bed. subliminally reminded me to note that you shouldn’t do this every night. especially if you have any skin problems because it can cause chaffing.
5. during the day, if you’re at home, repeat number 3 ^ with a t-shirt.
6. simply fill a clean spray bottle with water and spray cool water over yourself when needed. if your spray bottle happens to be too much, spray it upwards so the water falls onto you like rain (it’ll spread out and cover you more evenly).
7. you can make a DIY cool pack by mixing water and vodka in a zip-lock bag and freezing it. the mixture can’t freeze thanks to the vodka.
8. drinks lots of water! when hot, we get dehydrated quicker. the less hydrated we are, the hotter we are. so making sure you’re constantly hydrated is an easy way to help the heat.

how to: not be shy around boys

🌲 keep it simple
• don’t worry about saying the best thing. just say, “hi,” or if a guy is wearing a nice shirt, compliment him by saying, “i like your shirt.” ask how his weekend went by saying, “did you do anything fun this weekend?” whatever you say, say it with a smile and try to stay calm. no need to complicate things.

🕊 break the ice online
• reach out first through facebook or ig. chatting online can be much easier than irl. if you're messaging a guy for the first time online, say hi and remind them how they know you. say something like, "hi, we have math class together. have you studied for the test yet?" you can also bring up a common interest by saying something like, "did i see you at the new comic book movie this weekend?” if you're having a get together or party, inviting the guy online is a great first move. say something like, "hey, i’m having people over this weekend for a back to school party, and it would be great if you could come."

🌜 ask questions
• get to know the guy! and show interest! he’ll be able to tell if you’re not interested. be sure to listen. and don’t ask random questions ofc. instead, ask questions about a class or shared interest, so it makes sense for you to ask and for him to answer. soon, you might be moving onto to different (fun) topics to discuss.

🌲 talk to guys in your group of friends
• this is generally a less awkward situation because if you feel shy or can’t think of anything else to say, there are other people there to fill the silence. having your friends there for support will also make you feel sure of yourself, so it’s easier to talk openly.

🕊 join a co-ed club
• this way you meet you some guys and you’ll have something to discuss – like if you joined the fencing club, you can talk about that.

🌜 build confidence

fresh aloe vera uses

intro: i wanted to do a post on aloe vera uses, but i wanted it to be on the FRESH stuff, so that’s what this post is – no green aloe vera gel stuff that’s usually full of chemicals.

☀️ soothe a sunburn or any burn.
🕷 soothe a bug bite.
🍃 make fresh aloe gel (doesn’t last long though).
🌵 treat acne and reduce the redness caused by it.
🎍 heal acne scars by applying it twice a day for as long as it takes to heal
🌾 spot treatment: take 2 tsp of aloe to 2-3 drops lemon juice and apply to the skin using a q-tip. leave on for 20-30 min or overnight. rinse off with lukewarm water. repeat daily.
🎋 use it in diy face masks.
🌿 dandruff treatment: apply it to your scalp and leave on for 30 min, then wash off. you can add tea tree or coconut oil to the aloe if you want.
🌱 use it as you would a hair conditioner.

milk makeup v. elf: blur stick comparison

intro: so i have both the blur stick by milk makeup and i recently bought the prep & blur stick by elf cosmetics. i’m going to review and compare the two.

milk’s blur stick:
• smells like chlorine? not sure if that’s the actual smell, but it’s what it reminds me of – i don't hate it though.
• $36. quite expensive. there is a mini size available for like $14, but it is mini.
• contains 1 oz. good amount of product. i kind of go through it a lot just cuz i use it practically everyday.
• blurs and mattifies the skin.

elf’s blur stick:
• smells like idk, but it’s not bad
• only $8!!!!! good price.
• contains .51 oz, so it’s about half the size of the blur stick by milk – multiply that by two for 1 oz, that’s $16, still cheaper than milk’s.
• blurs and mattifies the skin.

which one do i prefer?
i think i prefer elf’s, just bc it’s way cheaper. they both essentially do the same thing. i do feel like elf’s was more smooth and a bit less harsh on my skin when it decided to be sensitive the day i was using it. they both seemed to last the same amount of time (with/without powder and/or setting spray), which is almost all day (if not close to full), just cuz i get oily throughout the day bc of my job and i’m running around (my skin type is oily btw). i am kind of prone to acne too, and neither of these caused acne. i apply both of these the same way – to the face, then blend with fingers. both products have similar (if not the same) ingredients.

* i think i’m gonna buy the elf prep & hydrate balm (which seems like a dupe for milk’s cooling water which i absolutely love and is a must have for me) – comment “🌟” if you’d like a post like this on those two products as well in the future.

spray tans 101

🌞 what is it?
• spray tanning is sunless tanning. either you or a professional will spray your body with a mist of chemicals including dihydroxyacetone (DHA) that will make your skin cells become temporarily darker. how much darker depends on the shade that you have selected.

🌴 is it safe?
• generally, speaking yes. but its safety is contingent upon users not getting any mist into their mouth, nose or eyes (you could easily inhale a spray). in an interview with the huffington post, dr. david j. leffell, professor of dermatology and surgery at the yale school of medicine says he believes it is safe: "most dermatologists agree that the spray-on tans or the tans in a bottle, which basically cause coloration of the outer layer of the epidermis –- the stratum corneum -– are safe and effective.” DHA, however, according to research, may damage DNA and cause cancer.

👙 how long does it last?
• generally speaking, no longer than 10 days in the summer.

🌊 how can you keep up a spray tan?
• gentle exfoliation in the shower followed by a basic moisturizer to keep up your spray tan. cocoa butter or coconut oil are quite nice to use on a tan. just don’t use something with citrus in it, it’ll deplete the tan.

🐚 how do you avoid streaks?
• by exfoliating your skin and paying special attention to the places where you sweat the most, you will avoid streaking.

🏖 how do you prepare for a spray tan?
• exfoliate your skin at least 8 hours before you receive a spray tan and make sure you shave your legs at least 6 hours prior to your tan without shaving cream as it “acts as a barrier between the tanning solution and the skin.”

🏄🏻‍♀️ what should you do after your spray tan?
• avoid showering for at least 12 hours and do not workout until you have had that first shower. also, avoid the water for at least a day after you have gotten a spray tan.

all about period sex

intro: graphic content ahead! this is broken up into two sections, one for pxv period sex, and one for vxv period sex (penis x vagina & vagina x vagina).

p in v sex on your period:
penetrative p in v sex on your period isn’t dirty, but it can get messy. depending on what point you are in your cycle, and how your body acts while you’re on your period, you might want to take the proper precautions and lay a towel down on the bed before proceeding. or you could hop in the shower/bath to make clean up easy. if the mess doesn’t bother you, congratulations. you can go on your merry way and have all the period sex you desire. pros of period sex include the fact that no matter what you’re pretty much guaranteed to be wet the whole time, but using lube is always recommended. some people may not want to go down on you while you’re on your period. that’s up to them, but if you use a period cup, it’s easy to have oral sex with no mess (you can read more about that below). and if you & your partner are fertile, what about pregnancy? your period is basically your body shedding the lining on your uterus aka everything your body would need to support a pregnancy. the egg that you might be worried about fertilizing, has likely broken apart and disintegrated at this point, so the chances of getting pregnant while having period sex are almost 0, right away anyways. however, that does not mean it's okay to not use protection, namely, a barrier! not only are sti's still an issue while on your period, know that sperm can stay in your body, alive, for up to five days. because you usually ovulate in the days directly after your period, you could actually have period sex late in your period, and have your egg fertilized during ovulation once you’re done with all the blood stuff. the only caveat to this is if you’re on birth control. if so, you won’t be ovulating (your birth control prevents you from ovulating) and your period is a result of hormone withdrawal rather than your actual cycle. it is VERY unlikely that you will get pregnant on your period if you also regularly and correctly use the pill. still, it’s virtually impossible even if you’re off of it.

tips for long distance relationships

intro: all of this info comes from the lovely @frizzlestics.

first of all, the most important thing in a long distance relationship is trust. since you will be spending a lot of time apart and go to events without each other, trust is necessary to keep your relationship going. of course it is normal to wish you were there as well, but keep in mind that your boyfriend or girlfriend would've wanted you to be there too.

another thing that i [@frizzlestics] wanted to talk about is communication. in many articles i have read that you should not talk to your significant other too much because your conversations will get boring and you will be left with nothing to tell each other. in my opinion this is far from the truth. i facetime my boyfriend almost every day and it is a very important moment for us. it is a moment where we can relax, laugh with our best friend and talk about things that might be bothering us.

jealously is unfortunately a big part of a long distance relationship. naturally, some people are very jealous and others are not. i am actually not a very jealous person but believe me that there will always be moments in a ldr where jealousy gets the best of you. do not blame yourself for it, it is very normal to be jealous when others are with your significant other and you are not. but be careful that you don't get too jealous, because it could be hurtful and ruin your relationship. whenever you have an argument try to call or facetime each other, but never try to solve it over whatsapp or messages. text messages do not show how someone really feels.

the last thing that i wanted to talk about is money. ofc course every ldr is different. luckily my boyfriend lives in the same continent as me, but you might as well be from europe and be dating someone who lives in australia. a big issue is and will always be money. try to save a weekly or monthly amount of money, it depends on what you prefer, for plane tickets. maybe you will have to cut down on shopping, buying food or going to festivals etc. but if you really love the person you are with, it will definitely be worth it.

dealing with homesickness

🏅 don’t be so hard on yourself
• feeing homesick isn't a weakness, nor is it something you should beat yourself up about. missing home is something that affects most students – you'll only make the situation worse if you think of it as something you should feel guilty about. it happens to a good chunk of people, especially a lot (if not all) new college kids who have moved away from home.

🛏 don’t spend too much time in your room
• it might be tempting to treat of your room as your own little safe haven, but staying in too much will only serve to make you feel worse. isolating yourself will make your feelings more intense, as you'll spend even more time pondering on what you miss about home. try to keep yourself busy by taking part in social activities, studying at the library rather than in your room, getting a part time job or even trying out some extracurricular activities. this is super super important. when i was in florida for college, i just stayed in my dorm room and watched netflix, and that did not help my mood any.

🎨 keep your expectations realistic
• one of the biggest myths about university is that every day is like a wild party where you enjoy minimal responsibilities and get drunk most nights of the week. well, for the majority of us this is a myth, anyway! try to be realistic in what you expect from university and work out ways to improve your experience if it's not quite what you wanted. college is what you make it – if there's something you're not happy with, it's down to you to do something about it!

🏠 bring home comforts
• whether it's your favourite teddy bear, or a rag of a blanket that your nan gave you when you were seven, we all have objects that cheers us up when we're not feeling our best. whatever your comfort things are, make sure you bring them to college with you. don’t be worried about the stick you'll get for having cuddly toys in your bedroom – chances are, your roomies have theirs hidden somewhere too!

2-ingredient at home microdermabrasion

intro: microdermabrasion is an expensive procedure done by licensed estheticians that gently removes the outside layer of dead skin cells using a super fine crystal paste (or sometimes even a diamond tipped wand…fancy!). they load up this crystal paste onto the end of a suction wand and then scour your skin until fresh skin is visible. it’s actually kind of nice feeling, though some people may need the gentle setting if you have sensitive skin. the end result is lustrous, glowing skin.

ingredients:
• 1 tsp baking soda (will polish off dead skin cells)
• ½ tsp of raw honey (soothes, moisturizes, and heals the skin)
• 1 drop lavender or tea tree essential oil (anti-bacterial, prevents breakouts, and soothes irritation)

directions:
1. in a small dish, mix the baking soda, and raw honey together until you form a paste (add your 1 drop of essential oil if using).
2. slap your face with warm water to open your pores.
3. massage into skin in gentle, circular motions concentrating on problem areas. do this for at least 5 minutes
4. rinse well and pat dry. you may notice some redness. this is normal and usually goes away after a few hours.
5. follow with a nice spritz of rose water (essential bc it helps balance your skin’s pH since baking soda is quite alkaline), and then moisturize with some healing argan oil.
6. repeat in 1 week (sometimes you can get away with doing at home microdermabrasion more often if you have less sensitive skin, but i wouldn’t exceed twice per week).
7. since your skin will be sensitive afterwards, be sure to avoid direct sunlight for the rest of the day to prevent further sensitivity and redness. you want to keep your fresh new skin protected!

how to: get over someone

1. write down everything they said that made your heart beat faster. every word that found a home in your soul and kept you warm on nights when you were too cold to breathe.
2. take your time. write as neat as you can. elegant cursive, bubble letters, calligraphy. make the penmanship as beautiful as the words it is saying.
3. read it over and over and over again. feel the way you felt when they first said it to you. forget how much it hurts now.
4. light it on fire in the bathroom sink. as the edges curl and the letters melt, forget it all. it’s not a part of your life anymore and you don’t need to keep it. it’s gone.
5. now write down everything they said to you that made you blush a deep red. everything they said to you that made your thighs tremble and your breath shaky.
6. make the penmanship sloppy, like the way they would’ve kissed you. write it down quick and messy and don’t worry about how the things you are writing would make a priest impure. write it all anyway.
7. read it. just once. let yourself imagine what you could’ve been one more time.
8. then light it on fire too. forget it too.
9. now write down what they said to you that hurts. write down the words they threw at you as they left, write down the excuses they made, write down the words they stabbed into your chest. write down what they said that made you cry.
10. make the words harsh and sharp. scratch it out with a knife onto the page if you have to.
11. don’t read it again.
12. light it on fire. watch it burn. forget.
13. they wanted to burn you down but don’t let them. get there first. you’re the one who’s holding the matches.

binding 101

⭐️ what is it?
• binding is a great way to reduce chest dysphoria and become more comfortable with your body. for some, a flat chest affirms our identities or helps those to be read correctly in public. the most important thing about binding is that you bind safely. and it isn’t just for trans guys! but also remember, not every trans guy chooses to bind.

💜 the golden rules of binding:
• always bind for less than 8 hours a day (the more breaks and time you can go without, the better!). binding for long hours every day over time breaks down tissue and can cause breathing problems, back pain, and skin irritation.
• always take your binder off before you sleep. give your body rest while you rest. also, take it off before exercising. sports bras are designed to move with you as you workout, while a binder can make movement and even breathing more difficult.
• never use duct tape or ace bandages to bind your chest. binding with these materials can restrict your ability to breathe and move properly. ace bandages in particular are designed to constrict, so as you breathe, they get tighter and tighter and can really hurt you.
• if it hurts, stop. try out a larger compression shirt, find binding alternatives that work for you, or try different ways to hide your chest without binding. pain is always an indicator that something is wrong.

🌸 styles of binders/compression shirts:
• long shirt style: most folks prefer a full, long shirt style binder because it compresses your chest without looking or feeling like a bra, and tucks easily into your pants. (sometimes binders roll up on themselves, so having extra length to tuck them into pants is helpful.) these binders might include stomach compression too, while others have a relaxed stomach.
• mid-length style: a mid-length style binder typically reaches your belly button or just to the top of your pants.
• sports-bra style: sports-bra style binders give you chest compression and nothing else. ideal to avoid overheating or feeling uncomfortable in a fuller-length style.
• vest style: most vest-style binders have velcro or a zipper to make putting on and taking off your binder easier.

must-have tools for herbalists

• cheesecloth – use it to strain your tinctures, vinegars, and herbal infusions
• mortar and pestle – crush and grind your herbs
• funnels – get an assortment of sizes, so you can easily transfer liquids to bottles

looking your best for cheap

👑 ignore trends. they’re always changing. make your own unique style.
🧖🏻‍♀️ only wear what looks good on you. even if it’s what YOU think looks good. wear what makes you feel good.
🌸 go thrifting!
🌟 buy the basics, so you can easily mix an match – dark wash jeans, white tee, black leggings, etc.
👠 use men’s shaving cream (usually cheaper) or conditioner.
🛍 don’t always buy high-end/name-brand things. for example, target’s brand of the acne grapefruit body wash (which i personally love and use) is way cheaper than neutrogena’s version (target’s brand is also cruelty free).
💍 shop for off-season clothing and look for sales. use coupons and use cash back sites/apps.
💝 be a guinea pig. from blowouts and haircuts to massages and facials, you can find a less expensive option by participating in demonstrations, workshops or classes at a beauty school. all sessions are supervised by a pro too.
💌 look for versatility. don’t buy something if you’ll only wear it once.
🥂 don’t go for the super expensive jeans.
👄 go to a discount chain for trendy shoes.
💎 have a black or brown purse.
🌹 neutral shades are key.
🦄 look online (or on my account) for easy-at-home remedies and diys.
🍾 skip the spa. do your own nails at home. cut your split ends at home too.
🕯 look for makeup products that can be used for multiple things. ex: a blush and lip tint, like milk makeup’s lip and cheek.
🎀 upcycle your clothes. add some rips, rhinestones, patches, etc.
🍷 shop cheaper sites like romwe, wish, zaful, etc. just read reviews and keep in mind you might have to size up.
