Today I received some test results and it got me thinking about how much my health has improved over years (yes it's been a long journey!). When I look back on how I once functioned day-to-day I've come a long way from the constant fatigue 😴 headaches 🤕 achy limbs, shot immune system. I wake ... Today I received some test results and it got me thinking about how much my health has improved over 5⃣ years (yes it's been a long journey!). When I look back on how I once functioned day-to-day I've come a long way from the constant fatigue 😴 headaches 🤕 achy limbs, shot immune system. I wake up with energy 😀 and a clear mind. But I know my limits and am conscious that something small like lack of sleep or doing high-intensity exercise can still push my immune system over the edge.
For years I searched for the right health practitioner 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️and read every health book I could get my hands on (and still do). I want to help you through my story as much as possible, so here are a few of my non-negotiables which have helped me when it comes to health. 😴 8 HOURS SLEEP – Sleep is absolutely critical to my overall health and wellness. I find if I take the time to replenish and recharge it makes all the difference in the world. I know with 8 hours sleep I function at my best.
🍲BONE BROTH – I have a small mug each and every morning to look after my gut health.
PROBIOTIC AND ZINC – I take my probiotic and zinc twice every single day for my immune system.
🥑🍋🥕EAT WHOLEFOODS – In other words, real foods. That means food that is nutrient-rich, minimally processed and as close to its natural state as possible. It’s GMO-free, and free from nasties, additives and artificial ingredients. 📃READ THE FOOD LABEL – It sounds simple but learning to read the ingredients and nutritional panel of foods at the start of my health journey was empowering. There are some clever marketing techniques out there so understanding exactly what I was putting into my body was life-changing. I shop for food as close to its natural state as possible and search for foods that are GMO-free. This forms our philosophy at GoodnessMe Box. A couple of months before putting it in our GoodnessMe Box I thought it wouldn't be possible. So my GMB team decided to investigate a bit further... Turns out, Remedy is pretty unique! You might be surprised to know that Remedy Kombucha is completely sugar free. Their long-aged brewing process removes all of the sugars naturally so there is no risk of re-fermentation in the bottle at room temperature. So it doesn't actually need to be refrigerated, unlike many Kombuchas on the market (though I do prefer it when it's chilled) 🍻

When I was in the Hong Kong airport the other week I found a cafe serving the #impossibleburger 🍔, a fake meat that is backed by Bill Gates, sold in fancy restaurants, and bleeds like a beetroot.
We also heard that @airnz has become the first airline ✈️ in the world to serve passengers the @theimpossibleburger!
The meat-free industry is growing for obvious reasons: An Impossible Burger requires only 5% of the land and 1/4 of the water that a beef burger 🐮does, and produces only 1/8 of the greenhouse gases.
Here's another cool example! Slide across. The chicken in this dish is in fact made from pea protein by a New Zealand company @sunfedmeats It is high in protein, iron and zinc. It's also a source of fibre, magnesium and b vitamins!

Here are 6️⃣ dairy free options that equal the same amount of calcium in one glass of milk (125mg). ✔️200gs cooked cannellini beans
✔️50g almonds
✔️90gs kale
✔️90g broccoli ✔️110g walnuts
✔️500g cauliflower
(These figures are not exact)

Obviously you wouldn't eat some of these serving sizes in one sitting, but if you incorporate these foods into your daily diet the calcium content will start to stack up. Also if you're not vegetarian canned salmon + sardines with edible bones are an excellent source of calcium.
Calcium is a vital role in the structural component of our bones 💪🏼and teeth😁 ! It is the most abundant mineral in the human body.
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) show that females 👩♀ aged 19-50 and males👨 19-70 have a calcium intake of 1,000 mg/day.

GLUTEN FREE CHOC BROWNIE RECIPE Ingredients 1/2 cup plus 2 TBS. coconut oil 1/4 cup cocoa powder 3 large eggs 1/2 cup plus 2 TBS. honey 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract 1/2 cup minus 1 TBS. (50 g) @mckenziesfoods coconut flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/3 cup chopped walnuts 1/3 cup mini gluten free ... 🍫GLUTEN FREE CHOC BROWNIE RECIPE🍫
Ingredients
1/2 cup plus 2 TBS. coconut oil
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3 large eggs
1/2 cup plus 2 TBS. honey
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup minus 1 TBS. (50 g) @mckenziesfoods coconut flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup mini gluten free chocolate chips
Instruction

1️⃣Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Line an 8"x8" tray with baking paper so two edges hang over the side of the pan (for easy removal and cutting)

2️⃣ In glass measuring cup, melt coconut oil in microwave. In a large bowl, combine the cocoa powder and the melted coconut oil, and eggs with an electric mixer until combined. Add in the honey and vanilla extract. Mix again until combined.

3️⃣Add in the coconut flour and salt and mix again until the batter is thoroughly combined.

4️⃣Fold in the nuts and chocolate chips. Spread into prepared pan evenly.

5️⃣Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack and once cooled to room temperature, remove from pan and cut into 16 squares. You can either refrigerate the brownies or leave them at room temperature in an airtight container.

1️⃣ Instead of eating normal dairy milk chocolate try dark chocolate! 🍫@bennettonaturalfoods is my absolute fave. 😍😍 Let's compare Bennetto dark chocolate with your average milk chocolate - Bennetto has 4.8g of sugar per 100g, and in comparison milk chocolate can have up to 55.5g!!! Such an easy swap can make such a HUGE difference to your health!
What you probably don't think of when it comes to chocolate 🍫🍫is the sodium content but it is definitely something you should be looking out for! Bennetto has only 2g per 100g yet milk chocolate can be up to 82g and more!!! That's just absurd.
2️⃣ Another super simple swap is instead of having potato chips try @emilycrisps. 🍌🍎🍍Because we are on the topic of salt let me tell you how much sodium is in the average packet of chips per 100g... 795mg... just CRAZY! Emily Crisps only have 0.1mg in comparison.

I can't believe how quickly 2018 is going by 😱 (anyone else feel it gets faster every year?). What was your New Years Resolution, have you stuck to it?! Here are three things I have learned so far this year:
1️⃣ The health food industry is growing by the minute (because of the food choices YOU are making) and big retailers are taking more and more notice (this excites me so much!) 🥕🍅🍠🍆🌽
2️⃣ It is important to take a break (even if a short weekend) to get perspective, I'm currently on my honeymoon and it’s been such a good opportunity to clear the mind!☀️
3️⃣ There are always little things you can do to improve your health slowly day by day. The journey never ends. Choosing to cut out processed and artificial ingredients as much as possible and eating wholefoods was one of the best decisions I ever made, but it sure didn’t happen overnight. So don’t be too hard on yourself and take it step-by-step. Consistency is the 🔐 key once you adopt a new health habit. Hope you are having an amazing year so far!!! 😃

✨ PANCAKES RECIPE ✨
🥞 Ingredients : 🥞
1/2 cup of flour,
1 tsp baking powder,
1/2 cup of dairy-free milk,
2 + 1/2 tsp cocoa powder,
1 tsp chia seeds,
1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar,
1 tsp vanilla extract,
2-3 tsp stevia 🥞DIRECTIONS🥞
1️⃣ Put the milk and chia seeds in a small bowl and mix.
2️⃣ Add the ACV, and vanilla extract into the same small bowl and mix again.
3️⃣ Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and stevia/or sugar to a seperate larger bowl and mix.
4️⃣ Pour the wet ingredients into the dry.
5️⃣ Stir to combine. DO NOT OVER MIX – small lumps are ok!
6️⃣ Heat pan to a medium-low heat.
7️⃣ Spoon pancake batter into the hot pan on low-medium heat (I like to make small pancakes that are about 2 tablespoons large, but you can make them however large you would like)
8️⃣ Once you see bubbles forming, and the outside looks cooked flip the pancake and let it cook for another 2 minutes.

When I was first diagnosed with an autoimmune condition my doctor recommended to try reduce the inflammation in my body. This meant no gluten, no dairy, no refined sugar, no alcohol ... Do you like baking!! 🍰🎂 To be honest, I’m not the best baker, or cook either. I like things to be simple and easy. When I was first diagnosed with an autoimmune condition my doctor recommended to try reduce the inflammation in my body. This meant no gluten, no dairy, no refined sugar, no alcohol and eliminating anything made with processed and refined ingredients. Hearing this was pretty overwhelming. 😅 So if you’ve been through this I get you!! You start thinking “what am I possibly going to eat” and “this is so restrictive I don’t want to live like that, I want to enjoy life!”. The truth was, I wasn’t enjoying life. Living day-to-day with fatigue, 😴a headache, achy limbs, a shot immune system was the worst at age 24, or any age I’m sure. I was so desperate to feel better, and I absolutely did not want to go to hospital every month for protein antibody transfusions 🌡to keep my energy levels up (something another doctor recommended), that I went all in.
And I’m soooo glad I did!!! I began to discover there were so many amazing health products that were unprocessed or gluten and dairy free but that actually tasted delicious! In fact, the hunt and search became fun and exciting. It was this that made me realise eating wholefoods doesn’t need to be boring and is actually quite the opposite 🍌🍉🍇🍓🥑🥝It can be fun AND easy!
This is how GoodnessMe Box was born... today I can bake, and it can be gluten free, and it can taste delicious. But normally I opt for DIY packet mix haha, I’m a busy girl these days after all!! 😂😂😂😂 And did I forget to mention that I feel better than ever. 💪🏼🏃🏼‍♀️What we nourish our body with can be more powerful than we realise. Just 22 hours till I have sun on my face in Italy for a VERY belated honeymoon!!! ️🛶When I started GoodnessMe Box 4 years ago at age 25 in my tiny apartment I had nooooo idea how much hard work and dedication it would take. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve left the team for more than a week before ... Just 22 hours till I have sun on my face in Italy for a VERY belated honeymoon!!! ✈️🛶🍝When I started GoodnessMe Box 4 years ago at age 25 in my tiny apartment I had nooooo idea how much hard work and dedication it would take.
To be honest, I don’t think I’ve left the team for more than a week before and even when I’ve been away I’ve still been attached to my laptop. Switching off is something I’ve found really tough to do 💻over the years, not only because there has been work to get done but because I am simply obsessed and love what we do so much!! I truly believe we are changing the food industry together, 🍓🍊🍌and with that certainly comes sacrifice. In January last year, the night before my wedding day, 👰🤵when most brides would be getting pampered, I was hustling on the phone with the real estate agent as we had a week to move offices and nowhere to go.
Yessss sometimes I look back and think I can be a little crazy. But I wouldn’t change anything for a single second. I gotta say though, this year has been good. In fact it has been great, thanks to the team I have around me. Nothing good comes easy without surrounding yourself with strong people. I’m glad things haven’t happened easy, because right now it is all the more satisfying. I have such a special trip ahead of me with my biggest supporter who has grounded me during the turbulent times (and tears!) of what is business and pursuing your passion. Ciao for now, 👋🏼 but of course I’ll be popping in online a little… I just can’t help myself! 😂💕

VEGAN COOKIE RECIPE by our amazing friends at @pureharvest INGREDIENT • 160 g gluten-free flour • 100 g almond meal • 1/2 tsp baking powder pinch of salt • 100 g organic coconut palm sugar • 85 g @pureharvest Rice Malt Syrup • 50 g coconut oil, melted • 2 tbsp chia seeds • 3 tbsp @pureharvest ... 🍪🍪VEGAN COOKIE RECIPE 😍😍 by our amazing friends at @pureharvest ✨INGREDIENT✨ • 160 g gluten-free flour
• 100 g almond meal
• 1/2 tsp baking powder
pinch of salt
• 100 g organic coconut palm sugar
• 85 g @pureharvest Rice Malt Syrup
• 50 g coconut oil, melted
• 2 tbsp chia seeds
• 3 tbsp @pureharvest Almond Quench
• 100 g vegan white chocolate (we used the @loving_earth caramel chocolate)
• 75 g frozen raspberries ✨INSTRUCTIONS✨

1️⃣Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius and line a baking tray with baking paper
2️⃣Prepare your chia eggs by mixing the chia seeds and 3 tbsp coco quench together in a small bowl and set aside.
3️⃣In a medium sized bowl mix together the flour, almond meal, salt and baking powder, set aside.
4️⃣In a saucepan over low heat melt the coconut oil and rice malt syrup together until just melted.
5️⃣In a large bowl mix together the melted coconut oil and rice malt syrup with the coconut sugar.
6️⃣Add the chia egg and mix some more.
7️⃣Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix to form a cookie dough. Add the chopped chocolate and frozen raspberries and mix well to evenly disperse throughout the mixture.
8️⃣Spoon small sections of the dough onto the prepared baking tray. Repeat this 10 - 12 times depending on how big you want your cookies. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
