This recipe is such a keeper! I always have overripe bananas (& plain yogurt) in the house, so it’s really no excuse not to bake this straight dough simple bread! #dontwastethembananas Super love straight dough method! Sometimes you just don’t have that kind of time to prepare pre-fermented dough.
Made a big 8” round plain pull-apart loaf which is great with just cold salted butter or great for sandwiches too. Banana flavour is really mild, and bread is not sweet, but just right to go sweet or savoury.

Also used the same dough to make chocolate polo buns, delicious enough to eat as is.

Banana yogurt bread
425g bread flour
30g caster sugar
200g banana
5g salt
5g instant active yeast
100ml water
80g Greek yogurt
30 g unsalted butter room temp

Polo bun crust top (makes 4 portions, feel free to double it)

Chocolate polo crust
45g cake flour
10g cocoa powder unsweetened
30g unsalted butter, slightly soften but still cold
25g confectioners sugar
- knead everything together. Divide into 4 equal portions and press into a flat round discs. Chill till needed.
Method:
1) Place all the ingredients in the mixing bowl except butter. Start to knead till it comes together into a soft pliable dough.
2) Continue to knead till the dough pulls clean from the side of the bowl. Remember to let dough rest between kneads. Add in butter and knead till it pulls cleans again.
3) Place dough in greased bowl till it triple in volume. Punch out air and divide dough. I took out 4x80g dough portions and the rest is divide equally into 20 portions.
4) The 4 dough portions are rolled round and topped with the chocolate polo paste.
5) The 20 small portions are rolled and placed in round baking tin that’s greased. Let both proof till doubled and filled the tin.
6) Preheat oven to 170°C and bake the bread, 15 mins for buns and 28-30 mins for pull apart buns.
7) Remove from oven and pan and cool on rack before serving. Enjoy!

Soup was boiled pork ribs with spinach and goji berries. 排骨菠菜汤加枸杞。

Was suppose to have a braised dish and soup but ended up trying out a new dumpling recipe...shaped into a flower 🌹. Served with multigrain rice. #要记得回家吃饭🐝

Sharing the recipe for the dumplings here! I was actually trying to use up some left over dumpling skin (round, white type). Hence I only made 3 as there was only 10 sheets left. Feel free to double the recipe! Middle dumpling is bigger, because it used 4 dumpling sheets while the other 2 used 3 sheets. ——————————————
Flower dumplings 🌹🥟 (makes 3)

9-10 sheets round dumpling skin
4 large prawns, peeled, deveined and chopped
100g minced pork
1 tsp grated ginger

Seasoning
1/2 tsp cornflour
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp chicken powder
1/2 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp cooking oil
125 ml chicken stock

Method
1) Combine all ingredients except dumpling skins together in a mixing bowl.
2) Add in all of the seasonings. Whisk together.
3) Lay 3-4 dumpling sheets, overlapping about 1/3 of each sheet over the other sheet. See highlight video above!
4) Divide he filling into 3 portions and spread evenly over dumpling skins, leaving about 1cm allowance on the sides.
5) Fold half from the Long side and roll in like a Swiss roll. Seal the end with some water to adhere. Repeat for the other 2.
6) Place the “flowers” on a greased pan and pan sear them till golden brown at the base. Add some chicken stock and cover to steam cook about 8-10 mins at Low medium fire.
7) Once the fillings changed colour and the stock has been cooked dry, dish up and serve. Enjoy! —————————————

Using my basic marinara recipe, instead of adding minced meat or meatballs, I used canned cannellini and black beans. Canned liquid discarded pls. Simmer till it’s all soft and yummy!

This bake here is Banana yogurt bread with chocolate polo top and a big round loaf. Was hoping to make it look like a blossom.....but ermm....nevermind 🙄. Loving the taste and texture of this straight dough bread. It was really a random bake but turned out better then expected. #honeybeesweetsfoodfun

Stir fried pork tenderloin with sweet red and yellow capsicums. 灯笼椒炒猪肉片。Saw a fellow blogger mummy cooking this and decided to give it a try too. Personally I have no issue with capsicum, but I know it’s not a favourite for some haha. Generally red, orange and yellow are sweet, packed full of vitamin C, so my kids don’t mind them as well. Do give them a try in stir fry...蛮好吃的👍🏻 #capsicum

One of the recipe I shared today was this delicious potato snack. Funny story...I forgot to bring cheese for this recipe but added salmon the last minute🙈😅 Turned out still good but I bet with cheese would have tasted better. #搞什么🙄

No oil for the recipe, just a tbsp of butter which flavours the vegetables well. You can add salmon into the potato balls like I did today or omit it and serve it as a side with a fish fillet and stir fried greens. Either ways I still think it’s easy to make, tasty and definitely a crowd pleaser. It’s a great party snack too!
Try it and let me know how you and your kid likes it. If you worry, try to chop the greens smaller, the picky eater will not notice and just pop that delicious treat in the mouth. ——————————————
Cheesy potato balls with broccoli, salmon & sweet corn

200g potato peeled and cut into chunks
2 cheddar cheese slices (2x30g)
100g skinless, boneless salmon fillet
100g chopped broccoli
100g fresh corn kernels
1 tbsp butter

Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment : Air Fryer

Method:
1. In a sauce pot, add potato chunks and enough water to cover it. Boil for 10 minutes till the potatoes are fork tender. Drain water and add the teo slices of cheese over it.
2. The heat from the potato is gonna soften the cheese. At this point, mash the potato with the cheese. A little chunky is fine.
3. In a pan, add butter, broccoli and corn. Cook over low heat till the broccoli is soften. Dish up and add to the mashed cheesy potatoes.
4. In the same pan, pan sear the salmon that‘s lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. Flip after a couple minutes and dish up when it is just cooked. Flake salmon and set aside for use. Add the flake salmon into the potato mixture. Season with salt and pepper, then stir in to combine!
5. Scoop the mixture into mini balls and roll them nicely. Repeat till all the potato mixture is rolled up. Place them in a air fryer lined with parchment paper.
6. Air fry for 13-15 minutes at 170C. Dish up and serve them as is or with favourite condiment. Enjoy!

Winter melon pork balls soup with fried squid and goji berries. 冬瓜猪肉丸枸杞乌贼汤。 Simple cooking soup yet so delicious with all the sweetness from the fried squid and pork balls.

Stir fried Lotus and salmon cubes with spicy dried shrimp sauce. 莲藕和三文鱼炒辣酱虾米. You can opt to use chicken or pork slices in place of fish for this dish.
Love the crunch from the lotus root, soft salmon cubes and the spicy sauce that binds everything together.

Lotus and salmon cubes with spicy dried shrimp sauce

2 garlic cloves, peeled & minced
100g salmon, cubed
250g lotus root, thinly sliced
2 tbsp spicy dried shrimp sauce

Shrimp sauce
100g dried shrimp, soaked & chopped
3 shallot, peeled & chopped
3 garlic cloves, peeled & minced
1-2 red chilli, seeded & chopped
2 tsp light soy sauce
2 tsp oyster sauce
2 tsp sugar

Method
1) In sauce pan, add 2 tbsp cooking oil over medium low heat. Add minced dried shrimp and cook till a little crispy.
2) Add in garlic, shallot and chilli, continue to stir fry till aromatic.
3) Add in all of the seasonings and cook till the whole mixture is gravy like and thicken. Remove from fire and set aside.
4) In a separate pan, add 1 tsp cooking oil over medium Low heat.
5) Add minced garlic and cook till aromatic. Add in lotus root and cook for a few minutes, add 3-4 tbsp water, cover and cook to soften it.
6) Add spicy dried shrimp sauce and salmon cubes. Toss to combine.
7) Off fire when the fish is cooked through, dish up and serve. Enjoy!

We tried all their lunch dishes today but I’m already making plans to come back with friends soon! Great location, lovely ambience & the lunch set is quite a deal too.
If you have to order one item, this Shao Bing Burger should be it 🍔. Grilled over charcoal for added smokiness, this Shao Bing Burger ($14++) features a juicy beef patty, sandwiched between melt-in mozzarella cheese and pickled green chilli. 老板!来个烧饼汉堡!Just zoom in for some juicy close up!😂 Served along with sweet potato chips coated with house made special seasoning. Hokkien Prawn Mee (serves 5-6pax)
400g yellow mee
400g thick bee hoon
4 garlic cloves, peeled & minced
3 large eggs, beaten
1 fish cake sliced
2 small sotong, cleaned & sliced
150g Pork fat, cubed small
8-10 large fresh tiger prawns, peeled and deveined. Shells saved for stock
250g Pork belly (I chose leaner cut)
2 slices ginger
2 sprig green onion, cut small
4-5 Calamansi
Seasoning
2 tsp fish sauce
1.5 tsp sugar
1 tsp light soy sauce

To make Stock
1) In a pot of simmering water, add in pork belly and prawn shells. Soak for a minute then drain away water.
2) Add fresh water about 700-800ml, plus ginger slices. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 mins. Remove any impurities that float to the TOP.
3) Remove pork belly & slice into bite size. Set both aside for use.
For Noodles
1) Blanch Mee and bee hoon with hot water, drain and set aside.
2) Pan fry the pork fat till almost all of the oil been rendered out. The lard will be golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels for serving later. You can reserve the oil for cooking.
3) In a large wok, add vegetable or pork oil over medium Low heat. Add garlic and cook till aromatic.
4) Add in beaten eggs and cook for a couple mins. Add in Mee just before the eggs set. Toss to combine. Next add in the thick bee hoon.
5) At this point, add in 3/4 of the stock in and bring to a simmer. Let the noodles absorb the soup.
6) Now add fish cake, sliced pork belly and toss together. Cook for a min before adding in prawns and sotong.
7) Add in the seasoning and toss to combine. Cover to let cook till the prawns just cooked. Add more stock is needed.
8) Finally add in the green onion and give it a quick toss before dishing up.
8) Serve with Calamansi, chilli sauce and crunchy pork lard. Enjoy!

Key to making this dish is to not overcook the eggs! You want to dish up when it is still slightly runny. The eggs will continue cooking and when they start eating, it will still be soft and delicious. Well...maybe I might have overcooked it very slightly too🙄. Over done eggs are dry and lumpy which is a big no no.
Didn’t pan fry the chicken till crispy this time. I even removed the skin from the thigh meat. Wanted something lighter and not too greasy. #honeybeecookssimplelunch

Polo bun crust top (makes 4 portions, feel free to double it)

53g cake flour
30g unsalted butter, slightly soften but still cold
24g confectioners sugar
15g beaten egg (remaining is used as egg wash)
1) Combine everything together till it forms a soft slightly sticky dough.
2) Divide into 4 portions and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in fridge for at least 30 mins before use.
3) Once your bread buns have fully proofed. Take out polo dough and roll them into flat round discs. Carefully place on TOP of buns.
4) Use a knife to make checkers on the TOP. Then brush with egg wash if desired.
5) Bake in the oven for 15 mins at 170°C till golden. Let cool on the rack before serving. Enjoy! ————————————————-

Garlicky Mushroom cream sauce with fusilli pasta, one of my favourite ways of serving pasta 😋 Love the sweet caramelised onion and mushroom chunks.

I find that herb-crusted bakes tends to yield a more moist fish compared to baking it “bare”. That herb crust kind of “protects” yet flavour that fish fillet.
So happy the crust worked so well with the salmon. Merely added salt and pepper to season the herb crust, yet every mouthful was packed full of flavour! Just a few fresh ingredients to do the trick.
Will share this simple no fuss herb crust recipe soon! For now, I just want to seat back and enjoy my dinner☺️ #好好吃一顿饭

Was pretty excited to try out their newly launched Dashi Inspired Executive Set Lunch, prices at only $35** each.
We got to sample Nami Special Gozen which comprises of Pan Fried Beef with Niban-Urume Dashi Sauce, Assorted tempura and Chawanmushi topped with crab meat.
Their Nami Udon & Soba Gozen was equally good which the Soba served in Hot-Saba Niban Dashi Soup with poached egg. Each noodle set is served with seasonal appetisers, chawanmushi and assorted tempura as well.
Both sets come with a scoop of ice cream at the end of the meal.
A la Carte dishes that we sampled include this Unagi-eel, Salmon Roe, on Rice with Dashi Soup and Japanese Saga 【Swipe to 2nd last photo】Wagyu Beef Sirloin A4, Sea Urchin, Rice, Chef Akiba's Special Sauce and Seasonal Truffle. Both were amazing! 🤤😋 The food quality here is always top notch and be prepared to be impressed when you visit.

Take the pork ribs for example. I bought them thinking I will cook 京都排骨! But because of the nice cool rainy weather, a pot of peppery-herbal ribs soup seems like a better choice. 善变😒

Stir fried baby Milk cabbage with fresh shiitake and fried Beancurd skin. 奶白菜炒香菇和炸腐皮。Straight forward dish with lots of garlic, seasoned with salt, pepper, sugar and touch of soy sauce.

Sharing the glass noodle dish recipe here! Enjoy! ————————————————-
2 rolls of glass noodles, soaked
1 red chilli, seeded and chopped
1.5 tbsp dried shrimp, soaked & chopped
3 garlic cloves, peeled & minced
150g minced pork
- seasoned with 1/2 tsp soy sauce, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp sesame oil and 1/2 tsp cornflour

1 or 2 sprigs green onion, cut small
150ml water
Seasoning
1 tsp chilli bean paste
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp chicken powder
1/2 tsp fish sauce

Method
1) In a cooking wok, add 1 tbsp cooking oil over medium Low heat. Add minced garlic & dried shrimp, cook till aromatic.
2) Add in minced pork and break up the meat as you stir fry.
3) Add in chilli follow by the soaked glass noodles. Toss to combine and add in all the seasoning and water. Cover and bring to a simmer.
4) Cook till the noodles are soften and the liquid has been absorbed. Add in the chopped green onion. Toss and combine.
5) Dish up and serve while it’s still hot. ——————————————-

Brioche (lighter version)
500g bread flour
50g caster sugar
5g salt
6g instant active yeast
3 large eggs (without shell) + fresh milk = 210ml
100ml water
40g butter room temp
Method:
1) Place all ingredients in a mixer bowl except the butter. Knead till it comes together to form a soft pliable dough.
2) Continue kneading till the dough pulls clean from the side of the bowl. Remember to let the dough and mixer rest in between kneads.
3) Add in the room temp butter and continue to knead again till it once again pulls clean from the bowl. Dough will be very elastic and smooth!
4) Place in greased bowl and let proof till it triple in size.
5) Once proofed. Punch out the air and divide into 3 sets of 210g dough, and 4 equal portions of the remaining dough (polo buns). 6) Roll the 3 portions of 210g into Long log shape and pleat the dough together. Place in greased loaf tin and let proof again. Preheat oven to 170°C. Egg wash the loaf to get the golden shine.
8) Once it filled the loaf tin, bake for 28-30 mins till golden brown.Remove from oven and tin and cool On the rack before slicing. Enjoy! Keep in fridge on the 3rd day if unfinished. Great for French toast! ————————————————-

Anyway nothing new tonight but still the same old favourites dishes that the kids like.
Same Kimchi fried rice but added gouchujang to kick up the heat level this time. Used multigrain rice to cook this but none is the wiser (except mummy🙊🙋🏻‍♀️) No meat added, just lots of minced garlic, broccoli, fishcake and piled on soft omelette slices and crispy shallots.

Air fried spice chicken wings for a less mess dish. I had a batch of that spice paste in my freezer, so used it up for tonight’s chicken dish. And I realise a couple squirts of fresh Calamansi juice actually brings out the sweetness and flavour of the chicken! Though this wasn’t the first time I tried Chef Foo’s dishes, I was once again impressed by his expertly-executed, delicious and artfully-plated dishes.
In the order which the dishes are showcased here:
1) Pan-Seared Tiger King Prawn with XO sauce, over Egg Noodles tossed with pork lardons. XO 酱烤香烤老虎虾皇、猪油渣蚝油捞生面

2) Black Truffle Roasted Irish Duck 黑松露烤爱尔兰鸭
This was so good! Highly recommended dish.
3) Hokkaido Sea Urchin and Ikura with Egg White in Crispy Seaweed Handroll 北海道海胆芙蓉紫菜手卷

4) Double-boiled Sea Whelk, Sea Cucumber Flower with Black Garlic in Chicken Consommé 黑蒜响螺燉海参花

5) Grilled USDA Beef Short Rib with Honey Char Siew Sauce 蜜汁叉烧酱烧美国牛助排

6) Poached Australian Baby Spinach with Fresh Beancurd Skin, Ginkgo & Whole Garlic 蒜子鲜腐竹银杏浸澳州菠菜苗

7) Chilled Fresh Mango, Grass Jelly, Kidney Beans Sago Pudding with Gula Melaka 椰糖芒果西米布丁
I was so stuffed but this dessert just hits the spot. Love the combination of creamy pudding and crunch from the biscuit bits. Yum!
8) Special dessert platter created by Chef Foo with fried glutinous cake that shaped like carrots, filled with corn cream custard. Delicious Peanut field Kueh rolls. So yummy!

Have been wanting to try cooking this myself for the longest time. Somehow it just didn’t come about until last weekend I had some. What actually triggered me was disappointment🙊. Heard so much about a particular stall selling this and drove a Long way there to try it. But it turned out not even half as nice as I imagined it😞 #sad #iguesstalkischeap🙄

Though mine can’t really compare to those famous stalls, with all them big woks and huge gas fires 🔥. But learning how to make it myself is a start! And we all can be better home cooks and not be queuing with the crowd or be disappointed with bad ones selling outside.
Best part was having it with the family at the comfort of our own home hee! 😄❤️ 大家一起来吃自己炒的福建虾面

This dish has so many key components, and missing one just seems wrong! Like the prawn pork stock, the crispy pork lard, fresh seafood and even the Calamansi and chilli are a must!

Of course you can opt to use plain white rice for this recipe! But adding red cargo rice and brown rice might not be all bad! Since the rice is so flavourful, they will be enjoying it too much to notice the healthy difference!
I like to use fresh sweet pineapples for this. Canned pineapples are way too sweet IMO. But if you want to rid the hassle of peeling that spiky fruit, just buy ready cut fresh ones.

Pineapple Fried Multigrain Rice

3 cups cooked multigrain rice, cooled or overnight
2 large eggs, cooked into omelette and sliced
5 shallots, peeled & sliced, fried till golden brown
3 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
8-10 large prawns
120g chicken breast, cubed & seasoned with soy sauce & sesame oil
1 fresh squid, cleaned & sliced
(I used fish cake instead because the family ain’t big on squid)
1/2 of small sweet pineapple, cubed
Note: I omitted cashew and shrimp paste, but feel free to add them

Seasoning
1 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh pineapple juice
1/2 tsp chicken powder
1/2 tsp white pepper

Garnish
Chicken floss & green onion
Thinly sliced cucumber
Method
1) In a large wok, add some cooking oil over medium heat. Add in garlic and sauté till fragrant.
2) Add in chicken and cook till opaque and then add in cooked rice.
3) Add all the seasoning and pineapple juice. Toss till all the grains are well combined. Add in pineapple, fishcake and prawns, toss a couple minute and cover to cook through.
6) Dish up once prawns are cooked through. Garnish with chicken floss, crispy shallots and green onion. Service! ———————————————-

But I never leave home without prepping a proper meal for my family.
Since the kids had a late lunch during Teacher’s Day celebration today, they wanted something light for dinner. So I decided to cook fish soup noodles with their favourite pork & potato dish.
Fish soup with blanched Bee Hoon 鱼片米粉汤 (不是鱼骗米粉😂). You can find this easy recipe at this tag #honeybeecooksfishsoupnoodles

Stir fried potato and pork tenderloin slices in dark soy sauce 猪肉炒马铃薯黑甜酱

Simplicity at its finest. Fresh steamed tender grouper which the sweetness is heighten with the slight tangy plum bits in the broth. Love how the peppercorn adds an extra punch to the overall taste.

Thankful that I prepped some of my curry spice paste in advance and freeze them to use for rainy (busy) days. So here is a simple curry chicken bee hoon for the kiddo’s lunch. #honeybeecookssimplelunch
Blanched bee hoon, then drenched with that curry sauce, topped with chicken wings, egg and soft potato that the kid loves. Didn’t use coconut milk this time, instead I used evaporated milk and stock.
You can find this curry chicken recipe here #honeybeecookscurrychicken Just follow the instructions for making the paste. You can double the recipe and freeze up some for later.

Note that I used homemade jam, but feel free to use store bought jam.

Banana cherry buns with mixed berry cream cheese

Dough ingredients
450g bread flour
40g caster sugar
5g instant active yeast
130g very ripe banana flesh
50g home made cherry compote / store bought
5g salt
100ml water
100ml milk
30g butter room temp

Filling ingredients
150g cream cheese room temp
30g confectioners sugar
50g mixed berry jam
- whisk to combine. Set aside for later

Method
1) In the mixer bowl, add in all of the dough ingredients except the butter.
2) Knead till it comes together to form pliable dough. Will be sticky at first but just continue to knead at medium Low speed.
3) Remember to let dough (& mixer) rest between kneads. 3-5 mins, to let the dough dry out a little.
4) Continue to knead till the dough pulls clean from the side of the dough. Add in butter and continue to knead.
5) When the dough finally pulls clean from the bowl again, it’s ready. Let proof in greased bowl till tripled in volume.
6) Punch out air and divide into 90g each, remaining for shaping into snouts & ears.
7) Fill dough with the berry cream filling. Seal and roll round. Place in greased baking pan and repeat till all the portions are used. Use remaining dough to decorate at will. Proof till it fills the pan, preheat oven to 160°C in the meantime.
8) Bake in the oven for 30-33 mins (covered with aluminium foil to prevent browning too fast). Remove from oven & pan, and let cool on rack completely before serving. Enjoy! —————————————-

Soup is Lotus root with pig’s tail and peanut soup. 莲藕花生猪尾汤。 Pretty much the same as using pork ribs, but since I spotted some fresh cuts in the morning, decided to give it a try.
Definitely brought back some fond memories of my mum making this soup when I was little. Some of you might go all squirmy with the thought of eating this haha 😆 . I don’t blame you! For sure this is one old school dish that not many household cooks it.
Last is Thai style Fish fillets. 泰式鱼片. I wanted to add more texture and “variety” to the dish, so added Beancurd and bean sprouts. Pretty interesting with added crunch from the sprouts. But the fish and Beancurd pieces coated in that spicy tangy sauce was a winner😍 I’m sure if I fry a whole fish and drenched it with this sauce, it would’ve been awesome.....but nehhhh 🤣 #太麻烦了

200g sea bass, cut small
1 block firm Beancurd, cut small
100g fresh bean sprouts, trimmed

Spicy Thai Sauce
2cm ginger, peeled & sliced
2 garlic cloves, peeled
3 shallots, peeled
4 coriander roots, washed
1 red chilli, seeded
1 chilli padi, seeded
Juice of 1 lime
2 tbsp sugar
1.5 tbsp fish sauce
1/2 tsp white pepper

Garnish
More sliced red chilli
Coriander leaves
Lime peel

Method
1) Sason the fish with salt pepper and sesame oil. Coat with a little of corn flour.
2) Pan fry Beancurd and fish fillets till golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
3) Blend all the thai sauce ingredients together. It doesn’t have to be smooth.
4) In a wok, add 1 tbsp shallot oil, over medium Low fire. Add all of the blended Thai spice sauce in. Cook till aromatic.
5) Add bean sprouts, fish & tofu, toss to coat. Dish up. Garnish & serve with steam rice! Enjoy! ————--—————————

Pan fried luncheon meat (OMG so long haven’t eat 😛), eggs and fishcake. Choice of chilli sauce on the side.
I know I know, that strawberry and mixed greens seem so 不搭🙄 But gotta have some veg and fruits for a balanced meal! #不管了豁出去了🤣

Watching the blue skies and white fluffy clouds today got me inspired to make this lunch. Looks a little messy but still gonna enjoy it with the kiddo after she’s home.
Teriyaki salmon fillet served with Japanese rice (as the fluffy clouds) 🍚 for the kid, avocado (as the grassy hills) 🥑 for mummy. Sunny sunny eggs for both of us.

Tried a new braised pork ribs recipe using soft bone ribs. I think this recipe will be great with beef short ribs too!
Stir fried Sou Mien with cabbage, fishcake and mushrooms. Topped with omelette slices and crispy fried shallot. Something not overwhelming and pairs well with the flavourful ribs.

Drenched the noodles with the meat sauce is so yum! The meat is practically falling off the bones 🤤 #好棒哦

Note that the ribs need to marinate up to 4 hours minimum in the fridge to achieve that flavour and texture.

Braised ribs 卤排骨

800g soft bone or baby back ribs
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise
8 shallots, peeled & sliced
5 garlic cloves, finely minced
5 cm ginger, peeled & grated
500ml water
Green onion to garnish

Marinate
2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp white pepper
1/2 amount of minced garlic above
1/2 amount of grated ginger above
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt - Combine the ribs with all of the the above marinate ingredients. - Rub in to combine. Plastic wrap and place in the fridge to chill up to 4 hrs.
Seasoning
1.5 tbsp oyster sauce
1.5 tbsp light soy sauce
1.5 tbsp sugar

Method
1) In a cooking pot, add 3 tbsp cooking oil over medium Low fire. Add in sliced shallots and cook till golden brown. Drain and set aside for use later.
2) Using half of the shallot oil, add in cinnamon stick and star anise to the pot. Cook at Low heat till aromatic.
3) Add in remaining half of minced garlic and ginger and continue to cook for a couple minutes.
4) Add in water follow by all of the seasoning. Bring mixture to a simmer.
5) Now add the marinated ribs and half of the fried shallot in and bring to a boil. Then lower to a simmer.
6) Continue to cook till meat is tender and liquid is reduced to a gravy. Serve with noodles or rice. Enjoy!

I’m quite excited to try out the Pu Er Tea (普洱茶) mooncake out of the 4 flavours. And as expected, it was really good❤️. I almost had half the mooncake to myself if no one had stopped me🙈 喜欢茶味的月饼.

Smooth lotus paste that has a smoky Pu Er tea flavour and perfectly sweetness. Thinly baked skin to counter the sweet paste. I actually like the skin of baked mooncakes 😂 #怪人

Salted egg yolks are not greasy or hard...love the slight sandy texture and paired well with the white lotus paste!
Gonna be a good kid and pass the other two to the parents since they love Baked Five Coarse Grains mooncakes with that extra crunch and bite.
