I like to post these vids every now and again to a) show @exfireman.stan that I don’t just take gym-selfies 😂 & b) to show that I do work hard, but I’m not always perfect in my form, technique or whatever...who’s perfect all the time?! Deffo not me 🙋🏼‍♀️

I moan about my deadlift form all the time, as whenever I’m doing a DL or similar I have the awful habit of rounding my back. This mainly happens when I’m performing for time, under-pressure, I’m tired, the weight is too heavy blah blah blah

I know I do this. I know I shouldn’t. But I do.

So @blkdynamit.ja keeps me in check (as best he can!)...! The Trap Dead’s were the last set & I finally made some improvement at the end 😂 Yes my chin should be down more, however I clocked on he was filming me...and who wants a double-chin? 🐽

I had to round my back on the ball-lift, as the circumference of that damn thing was just so large and there was no other way to grip and get a hold of it. I managed to pick up the 45kg ball and load it, however it was toooooo big for meeee 🙈 The main session was completed with the 25kg ball, inspired as always by my @farm_fitness ladies (@cs.fitness @sashagilbs @kate_s2 @sarahmorris17 @gemmabpicton @danikisberg @iamkateriley) who are bossing the 50kg Ball (we only have a 45 here...but I’m trying! 😂💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

...And a little Princess 👸🏼 moment at the end of the loaded carry 😆

MESSING UP happens sometimes ..... PERSONALLY I will ADMIT and ACCEPT that I haven't always treated the people that mean the most to me THE WAY THEY DESERVE and I've lied about stupid things in the past to impress or pacify. Being honest is always the way to go especially being honest with yourself. I'm human just like everybody else. But when I researched it There are so many benefits into training throughout pregnancy...some of them are shorter labour times, quicker recovery, lower risk of preeclampsia/gestational diabetes and general well being and mental health. So once I got the ok to keep up training from the doctor it was a no brainer. Obviously with the help of the amazing @rbmar904 he has tailored my workouts the whole way through and kept a close eye on me as well as keeping me on my toes.... constantly changing things up. Really glad I have kept it up...I can’t recommend it enough. Every back day is a heavy back day and this will continue throughout my prep! I've always had a good back but that doesn't stop me from wanting to improve it in every way I can. -

My legs have certainly improved as I look much more balanced from top to bottom. I took the time to really improve my leg sessions this off season and made them more productive which has certainly help with the growth of them. -

I'm constantly looking to step things up so The Grind Continues! -

Now what to do next? I have three British finals to compete at in October but I feel like doing another show next week. The IFBB 2bros in Coventry next Saturday is a possibility. This show has an extreme high level of competitors though so would be awesome to try to battle with them and see what I can do on a bigger stage! Now don't get me wrong, stretching both dynamically and statically has its place. But too many people are either over excessively stretching or stretching with no real consideration on "WHY" are they stretching.

However activation work is a great tool we can use to help push blood into a given muscle that we are planning on working, it allows our Brain to send singles to that muscle part to say ok switch on we are about to apply a load and stress, "BE PREPARED"
It also allows us to get a more effective mind to muscle connection.
The first exercise can be performed in to variation first being shown in the video with the band just below the knee sitting on your tibialis anterior, the other being just above the knee sitting on the end of our erractus femoris.
Externally rotating, which helps activate our glutes, adductors Magnus and adductors longnus, the second activation is an lateral adductation drill to get those glutes firing with toes pointing forward to really get more glute focus.

The purpose behind it is, personally suffering with adductor tightness which has lead to minor glute tightness as well, these drills help me warm up effiecently preventing further injuries/tightness and improving my range of movement when performing squats and other exercises.
I'm not trying to demonising stretching but understand there is a time and place and a purpose for it not just to simply do it because you heard it is great and you've seen the person next to you doing it.
Plus 5 minutes isn't stretching. to really get a muscle loose and warmed up it requires a good 20 odd minutes.

I am now waking at 3:30 in the morning to do morning cardio and weight training, racing to PT formation to be at attention by 0630, enduring my duty day (0640-1730 - 6:40am-5:30pm for my civilian friends) give or take, racing to gymnastics for both my older babies at night.. by time I get them down the thought of getting in night time cardio, if I can find a sitter, is UNREAL! I really am trying but as of right now, only 6 hours out of a 24 hour day are unspoken for... and I do need sleep. 😴 I’m really just venting right now and know I’ll find a way to balance it all.. but for today, in this moment, I want to scream! As I have said a many times.. this sport is NOT for the WEAK and the one with EXCUSES! I’ll find a way some way some how.. but for tonight... As people who know me know that for a few years iv been off and on with my training due to investing time in others and my clothing brand @pf_aesthetics mainly training once or twice per week.

2 weeks ago I noticed my Dad bod was kicking in so I approached my good friend and prep guy @james_llewellin_official to over see a mini prep for my photo shoot in 2 weeks. These are the results so far at the 2 week mark (excuse the body hair)
I will be doing a full off season with James over the winter (which I have never done) and me and James have decided I will 100% make a come back next year to the stage presenting a package I have never displayed before.

I am really excited at the results so far in just 2 weeks and the amount of food I'm eating is crazy!! With 5 months consistent training and eating I feel I can be where I want to be.

All the thinking and guidance is left to James he is the best in the business and produced many British Champions and himself has won just about everything there is to win. #thecomebackkid .

As you can't complete a full rep, lean forward a little so the cable lines up with your lower chest, which will let the rhomboids and teres take more of the tension. When you can't complete a full rep, lean forward again, almost upright so your lower traps and lats finish the exercise off.

Notice how I depress (pull down) and retract (pull back) my shoulders first on every rep, before I start pulling my elbows behind me. At the same time i'm thinking about pulling my chest to the bar. This will make a world of difference to each rep.

This was my last set of 3 and after analysing the video I should have had a longer hold and squeeze at the bottom but but I'm happy considering I'm still perfecting this and was in a lot of pain (as you can tell my my gurning)

It takes time, perseverance, patience and one hell of an amazing coach. The first day I trained with Eric he warned us it would take 6months at least to master a lever no matter who you are and to get that into your head. We’ve work for months and months from tucked levers, to single leg and now it’s time to master the hardest part the double leg. Again we began with the green band then the purple and today the Black was conquered, next stop the red and then a full lever. I know with @uniskulpt amazing coaching and enthusiasm mixed with my pig headed stubbornness I will master this move...

I’m here to just be real so... prepping, to me, is definitely mentally and physically taxing at points. (If you find it easy teach me your waysss lol). It has brought up a lot of reflection on myself and my mental barriers, while bringing to surface a laser focused mentality to stay on track with my goals. My energy is still good but of course it is now becoming more limited leaving little to no room for things I don’t find help me get there in some way. Balancing this without isolating can be difficult but it’s possible! And this may come off selfish but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when your hungry. 😂 so far I’m really enjoying the process. ❤️

I do a set to 10, drop the weight in half and do a static hold on each side while completing 10 reps on the other. Then burn out with 10 more reps both arms. 🔥

All videos taken this year, at the time I didn’t feel like I was at my best. Even as an experienced competitor it’s important to have support around you a second pair of eyes if you like. Because sometimes your vision can be blurred by over focusing on where you ‘think’ your weaknesses are.. By all means we must work on areas we as individuals believe need improving but just make sure you’re balanced. - Balanced mentally, try not to put huge amounts of pressure on yourself. OR, I can drink my water every day, lift upper body at the gym, and count my macros diligently. Option 1 would make my life more comfortable right now. Option 2 will find me proud of myself and my diligence 6 months or a year from now. Today was my 2nd day back in the gym and I fought back the tears (yes the doctor has said I can lift), and I've been teaching tennis since 4 days post surgery (haven't exactly been released for that, but I'm careful). It's true, fighting for the things I want is easy for me. But fighting to build a business that I love, developing a kids tennis program, accomplishing sports goals - all of that is so easy, almost completely natural. All of that involves more days of excitement and accomplishment than pain or dissapointment. Choosing option 2 is going to be a much more even fight. I get so upset with myself because I’m not lifting “heavy” or I remember that I’ve squatted much more weight than I am today.. but then I remember where I started. This deficit is totally different than my last.
I’m not stressing about my weight, not focusing on what I “can’t” eat, and embracing the changes I’m experiencing (energy levels, hunger, etc.) rather than rejecting or dreading them. It’s not only probably affecting my progress but has made the deficit so far a super positive experience. ❤️

Here I'm catching the bar and squatting before my front squat and press (yes I'm going lower than necessary but I can't miss out on an opportunity for glute hypertrophy 😛) I really like doing this combo on the day that I train shoulders (obviously at the beginning of the session) as it is a very taxing full body Olympic lift, thus it's best done on a training day with less volume and intensity (generally an upper body day). Additionally it involves a strict press at the end of the movement; great for anterior and medial deltoids. --------- Full cleans and presses are also a fantastic movement for conditioning for a multitude of sports i.e. developing power, speed, velocity and muscular endurance. -------- Full clean and presses are a challenging and complex movement and so I would only recommend them for advanced lifters and athletes. They are certainly something to work towards though for novice lifters. It’s amazing how much you can hide from the world when you really want too. Depression, low self esteem, anxiety and worry, it can and does affect us all in our own unique ways. .
You know that moment... that moment when you have just had enough! When you are fed up of living the same day over and over; when you are just so sick and tired of not feeling good about yourself; when your reflection angers you to the point that you sabotage yourself further!

14 weeks ago the above person was me! It was and has been me throughout my life! Yes there have been moments of extreme motivation, moments of minor achievements; BUT there never was a feeling of REAL DEEP DOWN ACHIEVEMENT; something for me to feel proud of; something for me to portray to the ones that I love the most in the world and say ‘look at me and look at what I have done’!

So... 14 weeks ago throughout sheer want to not live another day of my current life again; I decided to commit wholeheartedly to a vision that I have had for so many years now. A vision to pursue a bodybuilding dream; a vision to utilise all that I have laying dormant inside me to craft and create and change my body into one that embodies all the attributes of the man that I want to be! .
This was SO MUCH MORE THAN BODYBUILDING, this was me saving myself from a life of mediocrity; a life of ‘could haves and would haves and should haves’. This process was set out to break through so many mental barriers that have scared me and held me back for 28 years of my average life on this earth.

I had times when I couldn’t tie my own shoes and was in pain 24/7. My leg and foot would eventually get pins and needles and sometimes go numb. What was the actual cause of all this? No clue, and that’s what pisses me off. I went to a few chiros, did some PT but most importantly did my own research and treated my recovery just as I would any other gym session.

Over the years I’ve gotten much smarter with my training. I used to let my ego get the best of me and train through discomfort. Social media will make you believe if you don’t squat or deadlift your doing yourself a disservice and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Are they great movements? 100% but they are NOT necessary. No movement is necessary and people need to learn to do what they enjoy, what allows them to progress and what gets them the results they want. There is ALWAYS a substitute, so don’t feel pressured to do something if it’s not comfortable for you and your body. You can build muscle with a ton of different movements if you know what you’re doing.

I’m 30 years old and want to be doing this for AT LEAST another 30 years. Longevity is key. I don’t want to be the guy in the gym who starts his conversations with “when I was your age” or “back in my day” naaaaaah, I’ll be 60 putting in work because I got smart. Listen to your body and take your time with this lifestyle. It’s not all or nothing / black and white. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.
