Silver Spring, MD | Washington, DC

Elizabeth shares - "I haven't experienced pregnancy losses but I almost died from Toxic Shock Syndrome at age 16. It was a very traumatic experience and I wasn't sure I would be able to get pregnant. My pregnancy and Caroline's birth were very healing for me and I am so honored and blessed to have her and be bringing another child into the world.

Parenthood - especially early motherhood - is a time of constant change which has made me realize that EVERYTHING shifts and changes, especially our bodies. There are seasons of abundance, frustration, exhaustion, love, and uncertainty and I think it has made me more open to the body journey of pregnancy and postpartum. I am doing my best to teach my daughter that all bodies are to be celebrated and that we have more strength than we know.

The postpartum period was both harder and easier than I expected. I had a lot of support from family and friends and an amazing acupuncturist whose wisdom and treatments helped me to feel strong and regain balance. I was incredibly lucky to have a very positive breastfeeding experience and quickly connected with other moms of newborns and began to build my village.

Physically, the early recovery from Caroline's birth was harder than I expected - I felt incredibly strong my entire pregnancy, I practiced and taught yoga until a few days before she was born. I was also empowered by my birth experience but healing from perineal tearing definitely made me slow down and realize the need for rest and recovery.

Update: Aiden Felix Brandt was born on July 18, 2018 after a very long pregnancy (41 weeks, 4 days) and relatively short labor. I, unfortunately, suffered a severe postpartum hemorrhage a few hours after his birth but thankfully my midwife and care team were incredible. Recovery has been hard but support from my acupuncturist, midwives, friends and family has helped tremendously - I'm so thankful for my village. We're settling in as a family of 4 and looking forward to this new adventure." Full story at 4thTriBodies.com

I feel a little weird posting these but I’m feeling pretty proud of myself and so I thought I’d share with you guys. So remember a couple of days ago I said sorry for being MIA and that it was because I was working on myself. Well I didn’t make that up lol 😆 I REALLY have been working on myself consistently for two weeks now. I had pretty much let myself go back in March/April and stopped working out all together until just recently. 😬 You see what had happened was I got lazy and overtime I started noticing that I was losing my shape, my confidence was going with it, and I was starting to feel #depressed 😞. I didn’t like how I looked which in turn led to me not feeling good about myself. I started not wanting to go out, not wanting to dress up, not wanting to much of anything, UNTIL I got fed up of feeling like sh*t! 🤬 So I decided to get up and do something about it even if it’s from home. Man it’s not easy, 😅 but whats keeping me going is the results I’m starting to see! So here’s to #Day14 of working out 🥂 I got a lot more work to do but I’m looking forward to seeing what the best version of me looks like!
.
.
To #workout I always use my @jsculptfitness waist belt to help shape my waistline.
For resistance I use @thexbands1 Booty Bands
10lbs Ankle weights each leg @goldsgym
My workouts right now are about 1 and 1/2 hours 5-6 times a week.
Current measurements: Waist 27in Hips 41.5in
I look forward to sharing more of what I’m doing with you guys in the near future 😊😘 wait for the #beforeandafter it’s coming! 😳

I cannot tell you how many DM’s I’ve received, and still receive, about weight gain during pregnancy. I gained 41 pounds. About a lb a week consistently. I stayed active and ate pretty healthy but also did indulge when I wanted to which was daily sometimes! -
-
Usually with pregnancy you are going to gain about the same each time (granted you keep the same kind of eating and exercising routine) my body wasn’t ever going to “just gain the 25-30 lbs” that we are all told we should. And what I gained was still healthy and it’s exactly what my body needed to gain to support my healthy boy. 40 lbs is the least amount I’ve gained during a pregnancy and I have 3 kids! 50 lbs is the most (my first). -
-
I say this to hopefully help somebody out and to tell you to not get upset with the scale during pregnancy. It will go up. And that’s a very healthy thing. You may only gain 20-30 lbs (or even less!) or you may gain 40-50 lbs. As long as you aren’t eating fast food for every meal - you are likely gaining a very healthy amount for your specific body and your baby’s specific needs. -
-
Enjoy the bump while you have it, because you will miss it when it’s gone 😭 Trust that your body knows what it’s doing 🙏🏼😘

.
Studies have proven the impact of play for kids’ emotional, cognitive, physical and social development and wellbeing. On April, 1st we will be heading to the village of Tola, Nicaragua to build a playground for the growing community of kids and families. This will provide a safe place where hundreds of kids at Tola’s primary school can learn and grow through play. Beyond the kids, building the first playground in a community like this brings together families as it is used throughout the week.
.
The picture above is from the school’s current empty lot where a playground will stand proud in two weeks.
.
Here is where we need your help... We are asking friends, families and businesses to help cover the cost of the playground and shipping it to Nicaragua (already at the port). 100% of funds raised go directly to the playground—all of the trip and travel costs are already covered. As a family our goal is to raise $5,000 out of the total $17,000 cost. Anything above the goal will go towards buying food locally to restock the community’s food banks. Thanks to the help of many of you we are 41% of the way there!
.
In two weeks we can’t wait to share pictures of the transformation made possible by so many generous people!
.

A false positive pregnancy test from a, "malfunction," in the company's machine led us to our greatest fear. My heart felt so heavy that day, knowing that the one thing I always knew I wanted in life, lesbian lifestyle or not, was to be pregnant. Initially, the positive news of my lifelong dream of being pregnant after multiple iui's and finally our last attempt with an IVF, had me grinning so much my cheeks got tired. It was the first time in my life, I, literally, cried tears of joy. For those 3 days, my happiness seemed immeasurable. That quickly was followed by piercing heartache when we got the call. It feels that my body truly failed me this time. Nights and mornings of uncontrollable crying, seemed so foreign to me. Most of you know me pretty well, I am full of laughter. Yet, I could barely crack a smile. Now, our pockets seem empty, more than half my annual salary gone with no reward, and my body, simply...so lonely. I had such a naive confidence about my fertility; IVF has a 78% success rate through this company. I'm the youngest of eight, my father and mother came from large families, my sister had two beautiful boys at age 38 and 41, and my grandma had her last child at 51. I was athlete of the year in high school and was able to play a year of college ball. My overconfidence came crashing down on me. Knowing I cannot train harder, lift heavier weights, or perfect my eating habits to change the outcome, leaves me so helpless. My amazing wife did, endless weeks of injections, and she also tolerated my hormone filled mood swings. My woman did all she could have done and more. Infertility wears such a quiet costume. We, as women, should open our hearts to discussing it. Through all the turbulence in this current world, women are gaining more strength and courage at a furious speed. Thanks for all the support. We will continue our dream to have a family someday. But for now, we hit pause, and will stay optimistic about having an opportunity to share our love as bomb ass parents someday. #infertility

Another 10 week progress shot. Still hitting the gym 6 days a week but my bike commute has been drastically reduced due to a home construction project that has us staying a lot closer to my office. So less cardio… Well be back home soon though and my commute will be back to a longer ride •

186 ➡️ 193 (scale weight)
15.1% ➡️ 18.1% (body fat, I changed body fat meters to a more accurate one, so this is attributing to the drastic increase. It will be stable from now on though)
15.25 in. ➡️ 15 in. (neck)
47.25 in. ➡️ 45.5 in. (Shoulders)
42in. ➡️ 41.5in. (Chest)
13in. ➡️ 13.5in. (Bicep)
34.5in. ➡️35.75in. (waist)
37.5in. ➡️ 39.5in. (hips)
21.5in. ➡️ 22in. (Thigh)

So my weight has increased a bit since the last 10 weeks started, I have definitely gained muscle mass over the last 10 weeks, but I am sure there is a small amount of fat gain in there as well. Hard to be precise about that over this course because I changed the body fat meter. That said, some highlights over the last 10 weeks,
My bench increase 20 lbs, from 155 ➡️175, Leg extension increased from 175 ➡️200, Shoulder push press increased 35lbs dumbbells ➡️ 45lbs dumbbells, Lat pulldown from 120 ➡️ 160lbs, forearm curls went from 30lb set ➡️ 40lb sets of 50.

On this day 6 years ago , I was walking curbs, eating pineapple and playing with my completely
blind hedgehog (RIP Sonic 🦔 ). I remember my dad brought me bubble tea to comfort me because I was 41 weeks and 5 days along and playing the waiting game.
@zacharyjosephdesigns And I were so young. I feel like I was a baby... having a baby, when I look at photos.
And I was.
The journey into motherhood was an 11 hour labor at a birth center. It was the most physically exhausting and mentally testing thing I’d ever done at 21. I remember transition so well.. “I don’t think I can do this anymore... I may want to go to a hospital” (all birth professionals know those words are the signal of transition and a good sign 🙃).
I look back on that journey from 11pm to 10:09am and can clearly see myself being reborn in such a huge way too...
Before Jude, I was not on the path I am now.
I was struggling , and in dark places 95% of the time, not sober majority of that time, and not taking care of myself at all... I was a mess.
Even though it is a “cliche”, becoming a mother truly changed me COMPLETELY.
Jude is my little savior... he really is.
Lots of tears today in remembrance of Jude’s arrival and transitioning from maiden to Mother. ❤️

It is incrddible what a change in scenery can do for your motivation. Went to Ronneby for 5 days with @ingridreiter to visit her family. Ronneby is a beautiful little town with a famous park and lots of forrest surrounding it. So I took the chance run some trail in the summery woods and it did wonders for the result this week. Hammered out 41 km in total because of it, so this weeks #AndysAthleticAttack2018 is a lesson pf changing up your patterns and routines every once in awhile 🌲🌲🌲

Andys Athletic Attack 2018 is an athletic endeavor and pursuit of attempting to run 1500 kilometres during the course of the year of the dog. Being a freelancing creative is a somewhat sedentary and inactive line of work, so I decided to more than double my total in kilomtres ran from 2017. During the year I will upload the progress on a weekly basis, with a breakdown in numbers and a handlettered reflection of the week.

Dear Clients, (both existing and inquiring): I’m gonna get super raw right now and not sure how this is going to be taken; but I feel at this point that it’s an urgent matter.
I don’t know if some of you know this, but a little over 3 years ago I was a fitness instructor as well as a part time stylist. I was the fittest and strongest I had ever been and was 38yrs old. I then found the artistic side of hair and literally THREW myself into hair full time and one by one started to cancel my workouts because I was finding that I couldn’t fit everyone in. ....Fast forward to now: I am 41 and both the Heaviest and most successful I’ve ever been. I work 10-12+ hour days/5 Days/week and I still can’t seem to fit everyone in. After a year of some debilitating feet pain and a recent visit to a podiatrist; I found that I not only have Plantars Fasciitis AND Bursitis in both my feet, I also have a bone spur that requires operation. I am extremely limited (because of my feet) as to what I’m capable of workout wise, because even a brisk walk makes them worse.
Adding to that, I threw my back out a few weeks ago. I literally couldn’t walk. ...My body is ANGRY and is BEGGING me to slow down. (And I haven’t even touched on how all of this affects my little family)
With all this said, I’m shortening my hours/days effective immediately. It’s necessary for my Health & Wellbeing This will mean that I will be contacting some of you to let you know that I will be cancelling your future appointments for now; and I’m closing my books to all inquiring clients at this time.
I can not describe efficiently how difficult this announcement is for me to make, and even more, how difficult it’s going to be to make the phone calls to my clients that I really don’t want to cancel. I’m literally in tears as I write this. 💔😢 I will also be sending my sweet @celestethestylist off on her own as she totally has my back on this one.💗 I hope you all understand. With love and gratitude for you ALL🙏🏼 ...Sadie💜 #sadiejcre8s #itstime #selfcare #selflove #grounded

It helped a lot I ate clean and lifted weights for the majority of my pregnancy, all the way up to 41 weeks. (Yes I went overdue and got some nasty stretch marks in the last week) I took about 2 months off to recover after giving birth. I’ve been eating relatively clean(nothing too strict just no takeaway or lots of sugar etc minus treat meals), I’ve been getting in some hiit cardio a couple times a week since and weight training 4-5 days a week depending on my schedule. I’ve still got a long way to go but thanks to the amazing supplements from @aust_sports_nutrition I took during and after my pregnancy it’s been much easier to bounce back. I know I’ve lost a lot of muscle, but I’m not aiming to get my pre-pregnant body back, I’m just aiming to look and feel strong, confident & healthy in my mama bod 🖤👊🏽 #asn_fuelled

Originally, this was just a Before and After photo; In for 9 months (or 41 weeks +3 days to be exact) and out for 9 months but something just didn’t feel right about that. And although it was tough to share this middle image (one month postpartum), I think it’s very important in this case. I am a coach, a healthy, active-living influencer and I was totally naïve to think what my body would look like post birth. I really thought, being healthy, fit and young would mean I would be like so many other mama’s I saw on Instagram who simply, had baby and looked a little bloated afterwards. No hate towards mama's who experience this at all- we're ALL amazing. It just was not my reality. To say I was shocked would be an understatement, I was confused, saddened even. On one hand I was on cloud nine with the best thing that’s ever happened to me and on the other I was totally devastated about the mess and havoc it left on my body. I had a tough time accepting my post partum body and I think it needs to be known that not all people embrace their bodies straight away. Yes, I focussed on the miracle I had created and no it does not mean I’m ungrateful. I love my child more than anything, but I love my body too. It’s okay to take time to adjust to these changes. So to help others realize the reality of some postpartum journeys, like my own, I added the During pic. I am so happy with my body and so proud of what it has done for me, it just took time. Anything is achievable even if you don’t believe in that right now, you can prove yourself wrong in the best possible way. I worked out 3-5 times a week, for as little as 10 minutes per day some times. But each time I gave it all I had and I feel amazing for it, mainly because my body feels strong and capable again. If I could go back to myself at one month postpartum, I'd say - Rev, It is okay to cry, it doesn’t make you selfish. Give it time lovely, you will be able to embrace your body again. This is hard and its going to get harder but SO worth it. And damn girl, be proud of what you have done, you are amazing, be kinder to yourself!

Everything clicked on Sunday - Goal achieved with sub 2:48! Hit the first 5k on goal pace, and managed to get my hydration and nutrition right every 5 & 8ks. Passing 30k I knew I just had to keep things rolling, not get too excited, and not cramp and I was in with a shot. During my training I heard a quote from @stevemoneghetti saying that he aimed to prepare for race day so he only had to have a normal day, and not a spectacular day to win the race or achieve his goal. Hitting 35k was like being squeezed in a vice, but I backed myself to keep rolling, with faith in the training I’d done. 39-41 was a dark place, but the last 500 meters was probably the sweetest moment I’ve ever had running. The satisfaction that I was going to do it came over me, the emotion poured out. Things got primal for a few seconds with a few whoops 🗣 2:47:32 over the line, 264th overall.
So grateful that it worked out on the day, I’ve had plenty of days when it doesn’t, and there will be days ahead that it won’t. That’s what makes it all the sweeter when it does.
So proud that @runhellirun ran an incredible race too despite a rough final 6 weeks of training. She’s got guts and courage!

Finally, thanks to everyone for following and their support throughout the race! Every 5k when I passed through a time check, and saw I was on pace I could visualize and feel the support for us from across the timezones. Legends.
