Anyone who knows me knows that I HATE shopping but I’ve been on a bit of an @amazon shopping spree lately!!!

I just got myself a Jiu Jitsu notebook to keep track of my training with @royalmarinesjiujitsu •

I got myself some Epsom Salts and some Himalayan Salts for detoxing and recovery baths after all this training and to help heal all of the welts and chaffing from my prosthetic straps and I bought myself a shot putt and discus to get some training in for @invictusgames2018 •

I don’t know if this was the right move but I bought a 5kg shot putt and we compete using a 4kg and I got a 1.25kg discus but we compete with a 1kg. My thought process was train hard fight easy so I guess we’ll have to see how it goes.

Here’s the thing; I’ve heard all of this more times than I can count, and trust me, I know the damage I’ve done and still do. I know this when I wake up, walk, sleep, and at every damn moment of my life. I’ve grown up and lived in the philosophy that it’s better to burn out than fade away. I’ll never deny that, look at me! I couldn’t deny this if I wanted to. I don’t say this to brag or boast, as what I do and have done is NOT what I advise, nor what I teach my kids. This isn’t what I’d consider a positive characteristic but it is who I am. I know why. It’s in my blood and works for me.
_
I’m the definition of “do as I say, not as I do” and you know what? At 50 years old, with the shit I’ve been through, I’m not changing. I also have no intention of changing the world, as, in the grand scheme of things, I’m irrelevant. I will have the same number of people at my bedside when I die as most others. That’s my relevance.
_
However, I’m not letting the world change me, regardless of what anyone thinks or says. Please, spare me the lecture on how I will change my tune after things get really bad. I’ve been there! More than once. My version of “bad” is defined very different than others.
_
I’m not sure how or why I’ve never “grown up,” but fuck it. I am what I am.
_
I love my family, I love my work, and I love to train hard. My best times with my family are those times that nobody sees, my best work is done when nobody is around, and my best sets in the gym are when nobody is watching or cares.
_
I will burn out before I fade away.

Sorry folks, there are no shortcuts to slimming your waist! I get asked about how to accomplish this all the time, and unfortunately, there’s no secret supplement or magic program I can point you to that actually works. •
The best way to shed inches off your waist is to lose body fat all around. This is achieved by eating a calorie deficit with sufficient protein, resistance training (to help retain lean body mass), managing sleep and stress, and being consistent month after month. You can also build up your back/lats in the gym to create the illusion of having a narrower waist if you’d like. •
Yes, there are many, many different ways to do the above. There is no need to resort to extremes, and spot reduction (trying to target body fat loss from a specific area) is a myth. •
Eat well, train hard, and make this a lifestyle. store.soheefit.com #eatliftthrive

Feeling ALIVE after an amazing run this morning at branch brook park in #Newark.
For the past year I couldn’t barely bend over let alone run. I couldn’t stand up for long periods of time. I couldn’t exercise to my potential.
It was hard for me to deal with due to being a very active person.
So, to be able to achieve this amazing run with time, distance and pace that I did it in days a lot to how far I’ve come.
I never gave up.
I sucked it up.
I never complained.
I just found ways to work around the soreness and the pain to eventually feel the way I do now.
At the time I started recovering I was feeling at 30%. Now, I feel at 90% which beyond what I ever expected.
What am I saying.
Just because you are in a current situation doesn’t mean you should settle. Find ways around it and make the best of it.
Growth is knowing your true value. Never stops investing in your mindset, your health and your body. They all play a major part on how you feel.

I knew after our last training session together, regardless of the outcome, Kellie was mentally in the right place to give it her all. It was almost like a switch had flicked and she knew how to go to that place. “Train hard, fight easy” @kelllong you have put in the effort and can feel tremendously proud of your result!

Hello from #poland it is a great country thoo but I miss the weights and i miss the hardwork ... it is difficult to stay in shape while vacation so my routine is destroyed 😂 but after a year of non-stop hard work I guess my body needs a break. friday I will be heading back to the netherlands and i'm planing my new workout program because my football season is about to begin and it's a lot cardio. I do not want to lose my muscles so I need the ideal program to mix between fitness and football. It's a fresh start, my motivation is crazy and I am prepared to provide everything for achieving my goals. I am a dreamchaser. For me nothing is impossible. I don't hope I work.

A lot of us spend so many years focusing purely on our physical appearance. We find ourselves obsessing over the most superficial things in time without even realizing. We start in the gym to take care of ourselves and to become proud of our bodies but we end up doing the opposite. We end up creating strong insecurities.
This message today is to remind you that at some point in your life no matter how hard you diet and how hard you train...your body is eventually going to fail. Eventually you’ll become a washed up old human with loose skin and painful joints gaining weigh easier than ever. That’s nature. And when that happens, after spending a lifetime identifying yourself through your physical appearance... well then what do you even have left?
Take the time to build up your mind as much as your body. And i don’t mean the typical build up strength in your mind so you can hit the gym even when you’re lazy. Or to withstand pain. I mean build up your mind to realize what really matters in this world. That the way you look is actually so irrelevant in this massive universe. The materialism you want to consume and own, its irrelevant in this massive universe. Unwrap yourself from this physical obsession over yourself and look at what’s going on within. Your beliefs, your true aspirations and goals, discover spirituality, discover yourself. In a form that holds no physical being. The real you. So someday when you do physically fail..because you will, you’ll still have everything left that’s best of you.

In the last one year I have became aware that I really missing something in my life. I have this lack of feeling but I couldn’t tell myself what is disappeared. In the last months a lot of things happened, which give me the opportunity to spend more time with myself, get stronger and give the answer for the big question that who am I?
I went back to gym, and started to train as hard as I can. It gives me limitless power and now I am perfectly satiesfied and happy again. I have found my peace of mind. Training is not just for your body! It’s also feed your soul. I have the feeling now that I am doing good. I am where I have to be.
Thank you for all the things what happened with me. The saying is completely true. You need all the bad things in your life, you have to learn how to fight with the different circumstances, changable, unsteady feelings what people feel for you. But after all... you will be stronger than ever before. ☝🏻

❓Dedicated or addicted?
❓Does a rest day or the thought of it give you anxiety?
❓Does a rest day or lower training day effect your mood, self worth & “allowance” with food?
❓Do you train through injury or illness because you are trying to keep “fit & healthy”?
❓Describe yourself in 3 words. -
“Amy you should have a complete rest from exercising for a few weeks” was a thought that recently came up... 😳

I have not had more than a week off training for over 10 years. The most has been 5 days, during a yoga course (still doing yoga....🤦🏼‍♀️). I’ve been injured but always found a way... I would make sure of it... A few months ago I would never tame this idea but after my progress so far I am feeling much more acceptive and curious.

I thought I could just keep myself busy with more work (dietitian, run coach, strength and conditioning coach, yoga teacher and gym owner...). “What do you like doing in your spare time?” Is a question commonly asked. My answer is hard.. “training, eating, studying (food and exercise topics) and argh gymnastics?”..
-
My aims/what I hope to achieve:
- Find activities, non food & exercise related that I enjoy and make me happy
- Learn to sleep in past 7am ( I have only woken up past 7am 3 times in the last 5+ years
- Spend more time with friends, family & my husband - Discover who I really am without my training and dietitian identities...
- More “action” 😉
- Assist in my hypothalamic amenorreah recovery (physically & mentally)

By no way do I believe regular exercise is bad. In fact I plan to get back into it in 2 weeks. But, when my life & everyone is always based around training & most often comes 2nd.... something needs to change. I have said “no” to so many opportunities over the years that disrupted my “training schedule”. The gym is not the place to gain strength, health and happiness at this moment

My plan:
- 14 days no exercise (no gym, cardio, yoga, gymnastics)
- Find one new, non food and exercise activity to do everyday
Let’s see what Iearn & discover? 🙋🏼‍♀️Any tips for fun activities to try would be much appreciated!

When motivation ends, it's self-discipline that keeps you going, and this guy has that in spades. I'm pretty guilty of letting my feelings dictate when/how I train, especially after a long work day when I'm mentally and physically drained. Trust me - building student leaders can be exhausting some days!

One of the things I've loved changing about myself in the process of this expedition is the value I put on motivation vs discipline. Even though my spine still aches and strength training is almost non-existent right now, @_mitchsb_ keeps stokeing my discipline by getting me to go to the gym and do whatever I can anyway, because something is always better than nothing.

He was made to be an athlete, and I'm working doubly hard to keep up. Some of us were made, some of us were built - there's no right or wrong way to get here, as long as you're just as driven to hit those targets.

Three weeks! How did you spend your weekend? 📷 Moody vibes always by @Hayden.griffith

➖➖➖➖
There is no shortage of information on the internet and you can get access to the best of it for free with a simple google search.
➖➖
Every day we see a new infographic, YouTube video, article, and E-book promising us the results we want, but why is it that so many people still fail to see results?
➖➖
Here are 5 reasons:
1. You’re spending too much time looking for what’s optimal instead of consistently putting in the work. Stop program hopping. Start something, stick to it, then move on.

2. You’re ego-only lifting. There’s more to training than moving a weight from point A to point B. Stop trying to impress people in the gym or on social media with numbers. Drop the load if necessary and lift with proper technique. ➖
3. You’re not tracking your progress. You go into the gym and say “eh, I think I’ll hit chest today” with no guidelines, plan or program in place. Are you lifting the same weight for the same reps with the same form as 2 years ago? Get yourself a training log, a notebook, an app whatever...just make sure you’re improving over time. ➖
4. You’re neglecting recovery. You can train as hard as you want but you’re wasting your efforts if you’re not recovering properly between sessions. This includes managing nutrition, sleep, and stress. ➖
5.  You’re impatient AF! Stop trying to look like a Greek God after 6 months of training. You want to grow and get stronger? Put in the time and be patient. Yes, there are outliers, but it takes years to build a physique you can be really proud of, and in those years you develop skill and experience to keep improving. ⬇️⬇️
I can guarantee if you follow a program from start to finish you will see results. Learn to master the basic lifts, treat your body right with proper nutrition and recovery, and stop focusing on what everyone else is doing. If you've been struggling to get results, commit to at least one of 5 listed above!

Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither were abs! But dammit, we’re trying! I try to be as transparent as possible with you guys about at least the ‘fitness journey’ aspect of my life because when I was first starting out a little over a year ago, I know it helped me to look at progress from people who were in the same position as me. Fitness models can be intimidating. I get it. Some of them have never struggled with being overweight so it’s hard to feel a connection with them. I am by no means a ‘fit model’ but I hope by showing you guys my progress I can 1. Show you that it CAN be done with hard work and 2. Keep myself accountable. The photo on the left was taken on May 9, 2017 and the one on the right was this morning, one week after dropping keto and starting to reintroduce carbs into my diet. I weight train 5 days a week and do cardio every day after working out and I don’t leave until I’m dripping in sweat (make it fucking count!). I track my macros but I also allow myself a cheat meal every now and then. It’s about balance so you don’t make yourself crazy. I don’t have a trainer, I don’t have anyone making my meals but myself. I’m a full time student which means ya girl is on a MAJOR budget (do NOT let people tell you that eating healthy is too expensive. There are ways!). I subscribed to the school of YouTube for help, creepily people watched at the gym for awhile to figure out exercises I wanted to try and bookmarked routines I saw on Instagram. It CAN be done on your own. You CAN make the change if you are ready to do it for yourself and no one else. It’s a journey and will take time but no one deserves your time and effort more than yourself. 🖤

My Before: 340. My After: 285
••••••• In complete JOY! Seeing this realization blows my mind, never in my life did I ever think that weight loss could be possible for me. Yet here I am 55lbs slimmer, but yet so much more to go! Its grown to a lifestyle, and has shown me a different perspective of who I am and what I can achieve. It’s been a tough, yet incredibly worth it process. I can’t help but give a HUGE shout out to my brothers @j_rodriguez1392 and @ramirobadillo_ who constantly motivate and push me. Who never let me settle and encourage me by the way they train and hustle (hit them up for training seshes, they’ll make you work! 😂)
•••••••••••••• I can relate this fitness journey to my walk with God and the season I was in. Where when I started going to the gym, I didn’t want to go. I came up with excuses of how I was busy, but yet I knew if I went, I would get healthier. The same way when it came to reading my bible and even praying. Life was too busy, so I would put it in the back burner. But consistency is what I realized mattered the most. Getting into the gym I started realizing that I just felt better, the same way when I made it a priority to dig into the Word of God and dive in when it came to praying. I just felt better! Now don’t get me wrong it was difficult at first to take the steps to change and when the beginning of the journey became such and I would fall back, I had to remind myself that the failure didn’t define me. Wether seeing that I was working out hard and not seeing any results on the scale, or not reading my Bible for a week. It was hard not letting that discourage me, but I grew a want to push myself to a new level and get back to the hustle. I proved to myself that I can be committed. Im not done with anything, it’ll be a constant battle. I’ll gain some knowledge along the way. I’ll mess up. I’ll have more victories. I’ll lose or gain, but in the end it’ll all be worth it. •••••••••••••••••••••• “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” #progress

Guess we just gonna skip 239 then, huh?! 😂 I told Matt this morning that it was bittersweet because I've seen this number before and you know what he said? "It's the last time you'll do this ". So glad I have an accountability partner in this to put things in perspective. Yes I've gotten much lower than this before but I've also started at 370lbs. I'm not where I need to be but I'm not where I used to be and the scale is moving and so will I! Going to be running after work today. 3 weeks until my Glo Run and I want a good time!! Now I know I'm going to get a ton of questions because people see weight loss and automatically think I there is a secret or trick so lemme stop you. I'm running. And I'm eating less. That's it. Not even doing keto despite my boyfriends constant nagging for me to do it 😂 Literally just less calories in more calories out. That's all it takes. The reason it's working for me is that I'm not focusing on my weight every day. People try and don't lose 50lbs in a day so they say "it's not working for me". I know because I did the same thing! Calories in vs calories out plus time equals results. You have to be patient and its hard and frustrating but it's worth it when you see the results! Stuff is fitting better and my family has commented on my weight loss because it's noticeable! I feel better and lighter and less hungry all the time which is so freeing. You get stronger and the results come as long as you stick with it. What's the magic secret? Patience, homie. 🎤 ❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶 #teamJesus #topknotmode #viking #transformation #fitness #fit #fasting #weightlosstransformation #fitspo #workout #beforeandafter #cardio #gym #train #training #photooftheday #health #healthy #instahealth #pcosweightloss #lifetimefitness #motivation #instagood #determination #weightloss #diet #evlution #pcos #evlutionnutrition #exercise

We were committed to showing up so we wouldn’t need to ask a random person to spot us. We treated the gym like it was a Starbucks. The weights was our coffee and our convos would be brief like, “Yea but did you die?” And when I see myself in this picture I see someone who wasn’t so hard on herself for gaining weight anymore. My homie in the braids next to me has a million kids, conducts group training on the side, holds down a full time job (graveyard shift) and still finds time to commit to her fitness. It’s hard to do that and still be a good person to your family and friends. •
About a year after we took this photo together I decided to get into WWE and it seemed out of the blue. We stopped training together and I found a job in the airport to get free flights to wrestling school, WWE events etc. but never went through with it for other reasons. When my brother passed away it wasn’t no small loss for me. We were close like twins close @islandflavafitness came over to my place and asked me if I was ok. We hadn’t kept in contact except for on social media. She encouraged me to live out my life’s legacy, whatever that may be. I tried going back to powerlifting but that didn’t work. I had already been out of the fitness game for 2 years and my spirit was broken over the loss of my brother. I still have a desire placed in my heart to do something great with my fitness but I don’t know what it is. Do you know that saying “Thine Will be done”? I didn’t fully understand it until I lost my brother. If God planted a dream in me maybe it’s time for me to step out of his way and let him lead me towards fulfilling my life’s purpose. You could say I’ve been through some things but like Peter I’ve been looking at the storm asking Jesus to help me walk on water not realizing it is my faith that keeps me above water.

If you’re down like I am and you need to get up but it seems pointless take notice when friends like this one pops up because it’s not random, strong individuals are tough to get close to emotionally. These friends are really Angels in disguise

Bottom Left - 190lbs in 2016 winning the SABBA Regional Overall after 3 years of working with me.. (Amazing tattoo cover done by @nicoleball76visualdimemsions)
Right - Sept 2018, just starting a size phase at 233lbs.
When Morgan contacted me, he immediately struck me as someone who was going to be a good client because he spoke of competing when he was ready. He wasn’t in a rush. He didn’t expect anything to come to him.
I remember seeing the training videos he sent me, and telling him he had to train harder. I’ve told many people that, and had them not hire me. However, Morgan ate it up, and rose to the challenge. Now, he’s one of my favourite guys to train with, and I’m looking forward to the next time he comes out to @westcoastiron to hit some sessions.
This is how real progress is made. We’ve been repeating the same pattern of eating, sleeping, and training, over and over again. Phase after phase. Two steps forward, then one step back to reset the body, etc. He’s stayed focused and patient and the gains are piling up. I’m expecting him to hit 245lbs within the next phase.
I’ve coached hundreds competitors, and advised countless numbers of people in the gym over the years. However my favourite thing to do is to mentor someone. It’s beyond coaching. Beyond writing programs. Showing them how to think for themselves and how to train really REALLY fucking hard. It’s not about controlling people or making them dependent on you as a coach.
I currently have openings available for mentoring for very serious bodybuilders. So if you got fired up reading this, then maybe you’re the type I’m looking to work with. #threedecadesdeep #lifer #bodybuilding #ifbbproleague

I remember a time when both of these brands were an idea. An exciting thought, scribbled Down in a red notebook I purchased from Stop and shop.It started with wanting to formulate a pre workout product that wasn’t a pile of shit and build a gym that I could train freely at without dealing with the ridiculous commercial Gym rules and equipment negligence. I try to tell everyone that the 🔑 to progress is about taking extremely small steps everyday. I see so many people trying to take leaps when they haven’t even learned to walk. Slow it down, create an efficient system that works for you, and create a punch list everyday to complete. Make it reasonable, so that you are assured to complete it. Once you’ve completed it you’ll be looking forward to what’s on the Agenda tomorrow. For me, this became addictive. Almost like a video game but reality. I’m curious to see what I’m capable of building in this lifetime. I’ve got so many ideas and I know so many of you do also! However ideas are just ideas unless you act on them. If you have an idea. If you are passionate about it. You must learn to execute it and do so strategically! Small steps, get your Feet wet, take some small risks, you’ll be amazed at what you are capable of if you apply yourself. Live life the way you want too, and by all means if you enjoy relaxing and doing nothing after a 9-5 Job that’s totally cool too! Some people don’t want to work hard and they shouldn’t even bother trying if they don’t want to. Why? because it’s the “wanting” that truly creates work ethic. When we settle, we no longer want, and in return build regret. Just be real with yourself and purchase Grind if you want a sick ass workout @neverquitperformance and Join @outliftathletics if you want to train at a real gym and surround yourself with amazing people. Thankful for the choices I’ve made, mistakes and all! Learn from your lessons and be open minded, open mindedness is in my opinion one of the greatest fucking parts of life! Absorb like a sponge people! Oh and listen to my podcast I talk a lot about this! I don’t care how big, strong or imposing you are...there are many things I care about when it comes to working together in the gym but #1 is relentless effort..no excuses you both buy into being the hardest workers in the room trying to one up another every session. ....
I will tell you this I trained with some of the best during my football career, was lucky enough to train with @jared0114 through a good part of my bodybuilding career and then went solo for awhile. I Was very hesitant to train with anyone after that.
...
My training now obviously has much less of meaning behind it as I train specifically because I love to train...finding someone who understands the difference between training and exercising can be difficult, Ewa gets it. ...
Yes our training cannot always match up and she might like to do sets of squats at 10-15 while I 100% won’t go above 8 anymore hahaha...but it doesn’t matter because again she just gets what training really means. .....
You want to talk about a grinder...this woman will work 32 hours at the firehouse, train clients the next morning, then makes sure she is ready to train right at our scheduled time, ready to push just as hard if she got a full nights sleep simply because she “made the commitment to train with me.” She also knows how punctuality is my biggest pet peeve. You say you’re going to show up, be on time! As torn as I am knowing she needs to rest and recover, I will never tell her to not train just because you don’t find that type character easily. ....
Anyone who has trained with Ewa or knows Ewa knows that when she gives you the look, it means you need to add more weight or you didn’t go where you needed to go on that set...to me communication is the second most important aspect in this and when you can communicate just by eye contact and I think you got it. Plus who wouldn’t want to watch that butt squat 🤷🏻‍♂️.

When I was 16 I went to a gym called Lions Pride MMA. The video is me hitting pads with Jimi Manuwa two weeks into me joining the Pride. I went to the gym because I wanted to learn how to defend myself having suffered 3 years of constant bullying at school. I was a kid who lacked confidence and suffered from depression. As you can tell from the video I am absolutely shit but no one is going to be Muhammad Ali after two weeks of training. It gave me a huge sense of confidence that a UFC fighter like Jimi would give up an hour of his time to help train someone like me. He didn’t charge me and there was nothing for him to gain from it. This motivated me, I went to the gym every day and trained my arse off. I got the shit kicked out of me but I kept coming back. I just got better and better till eventually as time went on I was introduced to Jimi’s BJJ and MMA coach who have also taken my game to the next level. Everyone I train with to this day is connected through Jimi and without him I would definitely not be where I am today. I also wanted to post this to just show people who call me talented that it’s a load of bullshit. There is no talent here, just hard work. All that is required to get good at this game is to find a good gym, go there as often as possible, listen to your coaches and just have some heart. I hope this motivates people who think they’re not good or talented enough. That goes for anything not just fighting, I mean it could be Ballet dancing if your into that shit. I am truly nothing special and you’re just making excuses for yourself if you think that way. If you want something you’ve got to just go out and fucking get it. Regardless of what happens in my MMA career I can honestly say I’m a lot happier now than before I found fighting. Fighting transformed my quality of life and it all started at Lions Pride MMA 🦁.

About 7yrs ago, I started posting circuit workouts when I was transitioning out of bodybuilding. Many of you followed my journey into CrossFit & competitive powerlifting. I posted workouts, lifting videos, & food for about 5yrs. Everything about my social media was fitness related.

When I got sick, all of that came to a screeching halt. No more training. No more eating. I had to let people see another side of me that I was afraid to show for a long time. The vulnerable side of my personal development journey. I had to tear down all the “tough chick” walls that I had built for years. It taught me a lot about myself & the person I want to be. I’ve been on the personal development train for a while now, but I think there needs to be room for fitness on the train. Not training has taken a mental & physical toll on me. It’s showing.

I’ve been feeling better for 2.5 months. The gym still isn’t a staple in my life. I do 2-3 boring workouts a week, as I’m still recovering from a paralyzed organ. This has been incredibly hard on my mindset for 2 reasons:
1) I was born an athlete & it’s in my blood to be active. Yet I feel like I can’t find my place in fitness as I try to make my way back in.
2) I feel like there is a lot expected of me with some sort of “come back” in strength sports.

Due to the fact that I have lost my passion for lifting most days & I tend to wander aimlessly around the gym when I workout, I’m having a hard time finding my place in fitness after a year off. It’s incredibly discouraging to not be able to mentally commit to any form of training. I want to be active again, I just don’t know how I want to be active since I feel like I’m starting over.

So instead of being sad about currently not being in love with the gym, I’m getting back on my bike today which is where this all began for me. My parents are hardcore triathletes. The only activity I knew as a kid was swimming, biking, & running. I grew up on it. I did my first triathlon when my age was still in the single digits. I think there’s something to be said about that, so I’m tapping into my childhood.

Day one. I am committed to an active lifestyle again.

Developing a programme that on paper will get someone crazy strong is quite easy... The hard part is ensuring they stay injury free while maximising performance.

Most people do too much too soon and overreach too often.

Strength training is all about the long game. Yes, if you want to maximise performance, you need to train intensely and overreach now and then to stimulate adaptations. We also need to capatalise on good days (because we will also have bad days). However, if you overreach too often it will result in overtraining and overtraining means injuries and illness.

My recommendation:

Remember, percentages are not perfect and peoples ability to work will maximal and submaximal loads will differ. But years of experience will allow a coach to use percentages to quantify and gauge the right intensity at the right time.

First couple of weeks: Always preload with added volume - low intensity (50-65% 8-15 reps), high volume (reps)... Be careful of excessive DOMS (muscle soreness) as it can hit you like a train if it's your first week back after time off.

After the first couple of weeks, throw in a couple of weeks of 5x5... If you want added volume, throw in backdown sets - 2-3 sets of 8-10 reps at around 65%. At 5x5, initially work with a weight that feels good. After a week or two you can go for a Training 5RM (most you can do for 5 reps with no breakdown in form). You can then times the number (weight you lifted) by 1.16 (coefficient) - this gives you a good 1RM estimation that can be used for percentages.

When working with sets of 5 reps - work with around 75% and build up to hitting 5x5 at around 80%. When working with sets of 3 - work with around 85% and build up to hitting 3x3 at 90%. When working with sets of 2 (or even singles) - work with 90% to start and build up from there.

Once you have built a solid foundation with a more linear method of programming. Make things more interesting by going Conjugate and mix up all the variables throughout the week (work up to a 1RM) and throw in some dynamic effort sets (speed lifting) etc.

ANNOUNCEMENT: I will finally be opening my own gym this fall. When I was 17 I had already decided that this day would come. I thought the journey had ended after my injury, but it was literally just the beginning. LIMITLESS Training Centre will be a live representation of everything I have ever worked on, from Mady's Karate, to training for football with @glenn_mackay and @luisgabrielmendez , then my years of therapy and rehab training at various rehab hospitals and Physio clinics (literally too many to mention besides CSCIR at RIM and Julie at Physio-Logic especially 🙏🏽🐐). Training with @frankjeney was a blessing I never thought would happen after my injury. I always wanted to help people do the things I worked so hard for; injury recovery and off-season sports training. Even after I became a trainer though, I didn't think a high-level athlete would listen to a cripple... it was the paradigm I lived in. Then @joeiatzko and my lifelong friend Tarrence Crawford asked me to train them after the 2015 OUA season. My paradigm was forced to change, and @frankjeney came back for blessing round 2 and hired me as a strength coach for @uwlancerfb . The rest is history! Thank you so much to all those above, who shaped me as an athlete and a trainer, and to the dozens upon dozens of trainers and physiotherapists who also have contributed to my experiences 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽. And thanks to all my clients and employers over the last few years for all the opportunities you've afforded me! MOSTLY though, thank you to my mother, whom I wouldn't have ever ever ever recovered at all without. It was her relentless hard work and passion to see me heal that drove me in my darkest hours. I love you mom ❤️ I will not let you down, I never have 💪🏽💪🏽🙏🏽

Lately I have really been trying to be good about working on my flexibility and workout recovery (foam roll, trigger point etc.) let me tell you it’s really been paying off! I feel much better during my workouts and in everyday life!!
•••
I have found since becoming a mom and doing a lot of sitting while breastfeeding and carrying baby around that my neck, chest, hip flexors, and glutes are very tight! It doesn’t help that I then go and train hard at the gym lol; however I am making a solid effort to stretch and foam roll for at least 10 minutes after every workout. This is a commitment I made to myself to help me feel better and prevent injury.
•••
When was the last time you stretched?? Foam rolled? Did some trigger point release? If you suffer from tight muscles then do yourself a favor and commit to doing some flexibility work each day. This could even be 5 minutes before you go to bed or first thing in the morning. Remember doing it just once won’t help, but consistency over time sure will!!
•••
Remember it’s all about how you feel! Flexibility feels great!!!
•••
Happy #workoutwednesday people - let’s keep the week going strong!
•••
Ps. Loving these high waist crops from @cittaactivewear - local company & great clothing! Thanks guys for sending them my way!

There are 2 plans, your plan and life’s plan. You are only able to control your own plan and how you react to the unplanned.
The view point you take on things or events can make or break what happens next. It is crazy to think about how many great opportunities were opened up to me after letting go of less fruitful ones or by having doors closed.

You should be thankful for every closed door, because it will open your eyes to the open ones you have neglected to notice before.

I am very fortunate in my life these days and I have closed doors and hard times to thank for that. Take control of your life by leaving closed opportunities in search for better!

My wife and I decided to diet together and start back to the gym, esp since we've figured out a schedule with our marriage and our children. After four weeks, it wasn't happening fast enough for me. I then called up a trainer-friend of mine that, years ago, made me fall to my hands and knees because I was so tired. And that was only after one workout session. I went 5 years without calling him again.

11 weeks ago, I dug his number out of my phone and told him "I'm ready..." Below has been the results of pure hard work and dedication inside and outside of the gym with Damon McDonald. REMEMBER!!! Going to the gym is less than 30% of the battle... It's what you do "outside" of the gym that yields the highest results (nutrition, PERIOD). What's even more awesome... Is that I haven't even focused on gaining muscle. All I've done is trim down the enormous body fat that I had. Starting today, Damon has changed my diet to start bulking. The picture on the left was me at 185 pounds 11 weeks ago. The picture on the right is me at 161 pounds as of Sunday Aug 23rd. The goal is to go back up to 185 in pure muscle, while maintaining a lean and cut physique.

Thank you to my loving wife Tracey for her support. Thank you for getting me back in the swing of it and supporting me the past 2 1/2 months
If I can do it, then you can do it! #11WeekTransformation

I’m so pumped to be bringing the Train Hard Play Harder experience back to this incredibly beautiful part of the world later this year.
I’m running three, two day THPH camps in October, which will cover a variety things including my programming method I use for my gym and my own training, how my approach to mindset has evolved and how I work on that daily, motivation and a fresh approach to finding balance as an athlete and this time I’ll have @fortitudenutritioncoaching founder and my nutrition coach for the 2018 CrossFit Games season Josh with me who will be presenting two nutrition seminars at each camp.
Each day will also feature lots of workouts and dirrrty EMOMs.
To register visit the link in my bio.
(Also if there are any other European gyms interested in hosting a camp in November, shoot me a message or email as I’ll be travelling for several weeks after)
See you there!

Her arms and shoulders have literally been growing and her abs are becoming more and more visible every week. Often times, people will ask if they should "bulk" or "cut" or whatever and I don't believe in that bullshit. If you eat right and TRAIN REALLY HARD, you'll build muscle and the fat will come off. Simple as that. And when I say train hard, I mean painfully hard!! Lots of people go to the gym, but they're not really training...well, not what I consider training. Training should have you making funny faces, involuntarily grunting and crying, sweating your ass off, and almost totally fatigued after every set. #painprecedesprogression #totalpackage808 #detailsmatter ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Hello everyone💞 hope everyone is having a great weekend!
The number of people living with diabetes in ireland is estimated to be around 225,840. Trying to loose weight and stay fit while your diabetic is so hard! Because its easy for your blood sugar to go low (Hypoglycemiato) on a calorie deficet, or your blood sugar could go to high ( hyperglycemia) both extremely dangerous.
Here are some things ive learned from my personal experince being diabetic to have a safe workout.
》 Always check your blood sugar before working out. 7 - 12 range is best.
》Have a carb rich meal before and after work out.
》 Bring something in your bag to eat incase of a low, something with sugar and carbohydrate, i always bring an apple🍎🍎
》 Strenght train at least twice a week this improves blood sugar control.
》 Have a routine eat train and take medicine the same time everyday to avoid low blood sugar.
》 Ask your docter if your unsure about anything, or if your trying knew exercise.
》Ease into it dont push your body to hard if youve only started.
Hope this helps someone💞

The 80/20 rule of fitness is 80% of your effort should go towards nutrition and rest and the other 20% towards working out.
You should always train hard but after doing it for a while, training hard becomes easy. It’s easier to train hard than it is to not.
If you take it soft, you always know. As soon as you hit the shower, you know you could’ve hit it harder.
What’s not easy is saying no to the countless food options we’re bombarded with daily.
What’s not easy is getting an adequate amount of sleep every day in our hectic lives.
This is why if you want to achieve your fitness goals, most of your effort should be dedicated towards nutrition and rest.
It’s hard.
I’ve studied nutrition for 7-years and I still don’t know the best way to eat.
I’ve researched all the best sleep tips and tricks and still fall behind on my sleep schedule.
There’s always room for improvement.
I have to remind myself every day is day one.
As of today, I’m three weeks out from Spartan Ultra. A 50km, 60+ obstacle race through the Gold Coast Hinterland.
I’m scared and excited.
The video you’re watching is an excerpt of a full training and nutrition video I uploaded to YouTube.
The shake I made above contains close to 1000 calories of nutrient dense foods for optimal recovery.
This is how I try to eat most often, nutrient dense and optimised for performance.
Message me if you have any questions around fitness/nutrition. My DM is open.
Happy Sunday!

Here's her story:

I started my journey in 2013, my motto when I first started my weight loss journey was to always eat clean and train dirty! I did a lot of calorie counting as well as train hard but with just  cardio! (The insanity program) from 2013-2014 I lost 80 lbs! With my eat clean train dirty motto!

After I got married in 2014 I moved to nyc from California, which was a whole different world! My hubs and I started eating a lot of different foods and eating out way too much.

We would eat out 3 times a day almost 4 times a week! I ended up gaining 30 lbs of the 80 I had lost! In 2016 my hubs suggested we both get a gym membership and start to weight train! And that’s exactly what we did!
The first 3 months were rough, since we were still learning everything but after that... we saw results and became addicted!! I have no been weight training for 2 years and have been vegan for a year and it has all helped me shed the 30lbs I gained plus another 60lbs!!! I am now down135lbs total with my weight loss journey!! I am here now to spread health awareness to others as well as give  as much motivation as I can to others!
The second picture is my “during” because honestly I’m not done yet! 🤗💪🏽 Follow her: @sarinakfit1219

.
1.5 years ago I got breast implants. I got this surgery because I wanted to look more proportional. I was iffy about getting my boobs done because I LOVE to train hard in the gym and I didn’t want to have any set backs when it came to my lifts.
.
After getting many different opinions from many doctors I went with the doctor who had the best vision for myself with my career in Bikini.
.
I have 200 CC silicon implants over my muscle.
.
I didn’t want HUGE boobs, I didn’t want huge implants weighing me down. I didn’t even want people looking at me thinking “wow she has big boobs.” I just wanted to look more proportional so my boobs matched my butt and overall have more symmetry to my physique.
.
I know many people who get there boobs done get their implants under the muscle. If you get them under you have to go Bigger with the implants like 500 cc. I see many people not being able to train hard in the gym anymore because their muscle is always contracting over their implant.
.
Yes I did a different approach and went over the muscle but I’m so happy! I’m able to hit PRs with my chest press, I can do HIIT cardio, pull ups, push ups, literally anything without any discomfort whatsoever. It feels like I never even got my boobs done in the first place!

Here are my thoughts 💭 🔹First let me list pros and cons of each.
-If you’re doing a low volume routine you’ll be spending less time in the gym. You will have to eat less carbs because you won’t be burning through so much glycogen. Your main focus will be on progressive overload to grow. The Chance of injury is higher due to heavier lifting. CNS can get destroyed a lot faster if Routine not structured properly. Overall better for growth if you can sustain for a while WITHOUT getting injured.
🔹If you’re doing a HIGH Volume routine you’ll be in the gym much longer. You can increase your carb intake. Joints and tendons take a bigger hit due to training frequency being high. If diet is not on point to support the amount of training you’re doing you might lose muscle lol. Psychologically harder to get through work outs if you have a busy long day of work or stress outside of gym. Terrible approach for hardgainers. Good approach if all you do is eat sleep and train and can dedicate all your time to gains.
▪️These are just some pros and cons but now for my opinion.
✔️Low to moderate volume 10-12 sets per bodypart every 5-7 days will give you the most gains. If you can train with maximum intensity every workout and hit PR’s in the 6-10 rep range workout after workout you will 100% grow faster than doing a high volume routine. People can debate this all day, but try both approaches yourself for months and keep track; you’ll make way more gains with the lower volume approach guaranteed. ❗️BUT If you’re someone that doesn’t train hard and you just lift to go through the motions and get a pump stick to high volume because training low volume WITHOUT high intensity is a waste of time. 😉 🙌🏽💯
P.S. BOTH will work! I’m just talking about what’s more optimal and what will work better. 😉

Most of the time after a hard workout you will be sore and have tight muscles, this is known as DOMS. Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. This happens because of all the micro tears that occur within your muscle fibres during workouts 💁
-
Sometimes you’ll have very sore muscles and other times not too bad at all! Reasons your muscle may hurt more sometimes is because you’ve lifted more weight, trained for a longer period of time, even tried something new that the muscles are not used to! 💪
*if you really want to make your muscles work, focus heavily on the eccentric phase of each movement, that shit will cause painnnnnn*
-
Anyway, DOMS will occur typical about 1-3 days after you train and will last on average 2-3 days. Now how do we get rid of DOMS and recover faster? Here are three easy ways to help.
👉 Stretching and foam rolling! Stretch and/or foam roll the muscles worked after you train! The more the merrier
👉 Nutrition! Increase your protein intake, incorporate some BCAA’s into your diet. For even faster recovery get some ZMA which will help you sleep and produce more natural growth hormones
👉 Get yourself a singlet from @fourkingsclothing and the material will help to protect your muscles and make you extra anabolic
-
Hopefully those tips can help you recover faster and make some gainsssss 🙌💯

For those of you new to my page, welcome! And a bit of background. I competed in the NPC and IFBB for about 3 years. In that timespan, I did 19 shows and a number on my metabolism.
____
This last February, I went from zero exercise and zero tracking while maintaining my weight at 120 to 135 lbs in ONE month when I started tracking and exercising again. This rapid weight gain was from a food sensitivity (soy) the wreaked havoc on my sensitive system. The soy caused my system to become extremely inflamed and with that stress response my cortisol and blood sugar became unstable. on top of this (cause I needed something else 🤣) the soy is a xenoestrogen and caused an estrogen dominance in my body. (Yes, I was eating a lot of soy! I stopped eating meat and so I was eating soy daily, multiple times a day)
___
This is probably one of the hardest things I have done. I’m uncomfortable in my body most of the time, I’ve had to entirely changed my lifestyle (no cardio, minimal gym time as my heart rate should stay 100-110) and basically I just don’t really feel like myself because of my body but mainly because of my current lifestyle. Some days (read: today) I get angry because some of the things I WANT to do are just straight up detrimental to getting my body back to a place where it’s humming along.
___
The video on the right is from Today. I’m starting a new plan with a surplus week and a deficit week. I’ve once again scaled back on my gym time after getting a little too carried away. I don’t really know how to not train hard and so the workouts I’m supposed to do just feel pointless.
___
10 weeks of working HARD on my plan and seeing little to no changes in my body and only an increase on the scale and in measurements has been tough to swallow. Honestly, it’s hard to find motivation when your efforts feel like they’re not yielding any results.
___
I wish I had some magic words, tips or tricks for finding motivation when it’s low. The only thing I can offer is to think of the alternative... what’s my choice? I can’t see the other side right now, but trusting that I will get there eventually 💕

There are ways to get better training results without doing more exercises, reps, or spending more time in the gym. Get the most from what you're currently doing before adding more.
.

Organization - Organize your sessions to get the most "bang for your buck". After your warm up, do your "big" exercises or anything technical that requires lots of focus and concentration. Do these types of exercise early while you have energy.
.

Choose better exercises - Are you using the most effective exercises for your goals? Be sure to include exercises that challenge your trouble spots and not just the ones you enjoy.
.

Better quality reps - this alone is guaranteed to make a difference. Control your tempo and get good muscle contractions on every rep instead of rushing through sets.
.

Don't train to failure every time - it is hard to recover and improve when going for broke and "chasing soreness" every time you step in the gym. Learn how and when to push, leave a little gas in the tank, and track your workouts to measure your actual progress.
.
It's important to put in the time to get what you want from fitness and training, but make sure you're spending that time wisely. Train hard AND train smart! 💪

If your dream in life is to become a professional bodybuilder, then by all means I encourage you to pursue your passion. Spend as much time as possible in the gym and make that dream become a reality. However, not everyone wants to become a bodybuilder. Most people just want to look good and be healthy without dedicating their entire life and career towards that purpose. If you wish to pursue a career other than bodybuilding, all while maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, I'm here to show you it can be done. So to all the kids out there who this post might relate to... stay natural, train hard and study harder.
We all have different goals that we want to achieve but they all have one thing in common... you need to put in the WORK! Simple as that. Quit making excuses for yourself and go after a vision that makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning. Too many people give up on their dreams for no reason other than pure laziness. Don't be that guy. If you still have an opportunity, seize it. If an opportunity isn't present just yet, create one.

PART 1: So when I woke up this morning I didn’t feel quite sore enough from yesterday’s workout, so I decided to train legs again. Today I focused more on quads because my hammies were sore. People often ask , “how long of a rest should I take before training the same muscle group again?” “Can I train legs everyday ? (Ladies)” is it ok To workout everyday?” These are some of the thousands of questions that come to my inbox. Personally , I believe any muscle group you want to focus on growing should be trained a minimum of twice a week. In addition to that , if don’t leave the gym fatigued , or sore the next two days, then you flat out didn’t train hard enough. Rest days are key to muscle growth. You body secretes growth hormone while you are asleep so be sure not to neglect yourself.
To build muscle.Muscle can only get stronger and bigger by stimulating it through hard exercise, helping it to recover with high performance nutrition and giving it rest. It takes the central nervous system about 12-72 hours to recover from a workout. The time will be affected by the workout intensity. So you can easily train legs one day. Train back the next and back to legs on the third day. Because days of rest are crucial to growth , I do not suggest training muscle groups more than twice a week for ample recovery and gains !
Fit Tip: To keep making muscular gains cut back on aerobic activities and reserve that energy for the recovery process. I.e cardio !!! (I never to cardio , especially not off season !) Ample rest should include :
1. 30-to-90 second rests between sets during training
2. 2-to-4 hours immediately after training. 😴😴
3. 48-to-72 hours after training a specific muscle group

I have always been a active person and have a healthy lifestyle. I trained before, during and after having bubs because I wanted to and it makes me happy. .
I had the hardest year of my life last year and used fitness as my outlet to escape my own mind for awhile. It is amazing how much physical health is linked to mental. .
I have a long way till I am where I want to be however I think it is important to be happy where you are while trying to get to your end goal.
.
To answer some Q's I get sent here is some points:
1- create a balance between work/health and personal or you will go crazy.
2-it's not going to happen overnight
3-your home is also a gym
4-I do 40 squats before every shower
5-make use of your child's sleep time to be active
6-find a friend in the same mindset to train with.
7-MUSIC! .
A lot of people say uploading a progress pic is vain. I think if you have worked hard at something positive in your life that makes you happy then damn straight you should showcase your efforts. .
Really proud of all the people I have seen make lifestyle changes to improve their happiness lately. Keep sending your messages, I love seeing your progress. 🖤🖤🖤

And I'm going to keep working hard because this feeling is so worth it. Most of you know I hit 197lbs two years ago. After that I started Kimberlyrics and I lost myself to it. I gained weight and at one point I hit 260lbs albeit briefly. But when I hit 250lbs some things started showing up again. My heel pain. Difficulty sleeping. Headaches. Way worse pain during shark week. Anxiety. Everything just got worse. And lately almost all of that seems to be gone. It reminds me that this isn't about my clothes or my face or any of that. Life is hard enough without handicapping myself with pain and fatigue. And those things, thankfully, are in my control to handle. That's why I press on. I'm very blessed. I have a working body. And I can control how I feel in it. So I fight on and I take things like smaller jeans as a fun side effect but never ever the reason. When I was 18 I made a collage of cute clothes I wanted. Mostly jeans. But it wasn't until I forgot about that and lost my health that I actually began fighting. Make sure you got a good reason. It may be the only thing stopping you from a life change is lack of a good reason. Find yours. I'm sure you already know it deep down so bring it out and watch yourself start to succeed. ❤️ ❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶 #teamJesus #topknotmode #viking #transformation #fitness #fit #fasting #weightlosstransformation #fitspo #workout #beforeandafter #cardio #gym #train #training #photooftheday #health #omad #instahealth #pcosweightloss #lifetimefitness #motivation #instagood #determination #weightloss #diet #evlution #pcos #evlutionnutrition #exercise

It’s very fucking important to not trust the mass opinion and especially the one that’s intensity pushed in your face by the media. What I’m talking about is serious matter. After training for 15 years NATURALLY I have gained some knowledge (by committing numerous mistakes and falling into traps). I’m grateful for that experience and happy to share some TRUTH. I’m not influenced by science or some individuals opinion. Just my experience.

False info about natural bodybuilding:
• you have to eat a lot and constantly be in surplus to grow muscles. - No, you have to eat just enough to maintain proper hormonal functioning. Excessive calories do not give any advantage.
• you have to eat 6-7 meals a day ,every 2-3 hours in order to remain anabolic, otherwise your muscle will disappear! - No, you can eat 2-4 complete meals a day at convenient time, build and save all gained muscles.
• you have to always “chase the pump” because by pumping blood you get nutrients delivered to the muscle and they grow.- No, there is no connection between pump and muscle growth. It just feels good and gives temporary illusion of growth. Heavy compound movements (within 4-8 reps)is what trigger right hormones secretion, and that will make muscles grow (but only if you eat great natural foods and sleep a lot!)
• you have to train in “beast mode” all the time! Yes, but only In case you want to overtrain, burn out the nervous system and get out of the gym for months. Train hard but smart, aim to do the least work possible to get max. results.
• you gotta gain some body fat to grow bigger muscles ! - Most certainly NO. You gotta get as lean as you can in order to improve insulin sensitivity and make your body absorb all nutrients efficiently. Then you will grow.
• you can eat “shit foods” because you workout and burn everything! Yes,if you want to feel like shit and age prematurely.
• you need to take protein shakes in order to grow. Really ? 🤓

4 years ago I started this amazing journey into the NPC beginning at an unhealthy 96lbs with zero muscle, and quickly developed into the physique I have today! I had no idea what my body was capable of until I met @anthonytwanchacon. He guided me to a balanced diet and training plan and within weeks my body took off! After winning my first overall during my first year of competing my motivation was insane! And I LOVE to train! I kept growing and fast! My body loves to put on muscle which quickly lead me down to a road block in my journey. I was becoming too athletic looking, and big for bikini, and each year my placings were getting worse no matter what strategy we tried. .
.
This year in particular it has become clear I no longer fit into the bikini category, not just by muscularity but by a few other things I have noticed about myself throughout prep and competition days. Bikini never really felt like “me”. I never felt like I fit the personality because I’ve always been a little bit of a tom boy growing up, and the new training style I had to take on to not grow any bigger bored me to death and my body was not responding to it any more, it wanted more! For awhile there I was feeling so lost and confused on what to do in the gym and my motivation was falling short because of it. .
.
This last USAs I felt like a beast back stage next to the other girls. They were SO MUCH tiner than me, and it became clear that it’s time to move on! .
.
I love to train hard, and the harder I train and the more I eat the more my body responds! I’m so proud of the physique i have and don’t want to down size, so it is time for the figure division! 🙌🏼. Since I have been back from USAs I have increased the food and training harder than I ever have and I’m already looking so much different! I feel motivated all over again, and it’s so exciting to see the dramatic changes I’m already seeing! I really feel like figure is a great fit for me physically and mentally! I have no clue how I will do, or where it will take me but I’m so excited for this new journey! I don’t have a show lined up yet. Right now...(continued in comments)

We already know we need to push the limits to keep reaching our fitness goals, whether you’re looking to shed a few kilograms, nail a faster race time or sculpt your physique. But that time you take to rest between butt-kicking workouts? It’s just as important. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
In fact, without recovering properly, you could stall your progress - or worse REVERSE IT! 😑
⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
One of the biggest mistakes people make is going to hard on days they should be taking it easy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Exercise puts physical stress on the body and in order to see results from that stress, you need to give your muscles time to adapt and recover. Fitness (improvements) happen after the workout, not during the workout.
The best way to help your body recuperate and stay on track to reach your goals is to incorporate active recovery days into your weekly schedule. That means easy sessions done at no more than 60 to 70 percent of your maximum effort. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
The reason: After a hard workout, the body initiates an inflammatory response to help you recover. But if you do much training at a high intensity, that inflammatory response can work against you. High intensity exercise increases inflammation in the body and actually weakens the immune system, which makes you much more susceptible to germs, especially during flu season. That can translate to more sick days and less gym time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
So don’t be afraid to take it easy in order to stay healthy.💪🏻🍏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀
Anyone else enjoying that rest day?

After my first week of training at @riddlersgym, Daz told me I had the goods to be a World Champion if thats the path I wanted to take. I have 3 lessons to share from that day.
1) Believe in yourself.
2) Pick the right trainer, commit to them and listen to them. Every single day.
3) Fucking do the hard work and dont just say you will. Too many people say they want this, or that or want to be this or that, but not willing to truly commit and give 100% every single damn time they train. Do an extra kick, an extra 10 knees, finish with a sprint, lift the heavier weight, shadow box properly, hit the bag like you are in a fight, clinch the hardest person in the gym without making excuses, eat properly, maintain your weight, be fight ready or just simply train hard so you feel accomplished within yourself. Easy ways are not winning ways. You will never be what you want, never shape a great character for yourself by taking the easier option. There really is not much time for excuses if you want to be on top.
Thank you Daz and Team Riddler for helping shape who I am. Retired but still working as hard as I can in the position I am in. 💙

Just your typical gym locker room, dirty mirror “before” pic. My coach // owner of my gym // mentor finalized my immediate plan for the next 8ish weeks, which is to EAAAAT everything (mostly protein) and keep working hard in the gym. He wrote up my meal plan and it excludes restricting any foods for the holidays 🙅‍♀️ and includes a crap ton of eggs, chicken, and veggies 🐓🥦
After a mini “bulk,” then the time will come for several weeks of cutting, and hopefully by early summer, a competition to show off the body we’ve built 🙌 His philosophy isn’t to set a date/show for which to prepare, but rather stay focused, eat right, & train hard and once your body is at it’s best, then there is always a show within 100ish miles that you can register for.
So if you ain’t into the “fitsta” type of posts, then 👋 I’ll catch ya later hater. This account is going to focus on my progress and personal accountability during the process!

Have you ever dieted down only to regain all the weight you lost plus MORE and then find yourself having a hard time losing it? New research on adipose tissue adaptations to dieting are showing some really interesting results.
This is a figure from my book ‘The Complete Contest Prep Guide’ and is adapted from a study by MacLean examining post diet weight regain. Of particular importance is the immediate post diet period (days/weeks) transitioning into maintenance or surplus. It appears in this particular state, you are actually able to trigger adipocyte differentiation and produce NEW fat cells, making your fat regain potential even higher. Overfeeding in a normal state does not cause this but it appears that the post diet state is different for a few reasons:

Low leptin & insulin combined with decreased thyroid hormone, and drastically reduced fat oxidation rates create a milieu in which rapid influx of lipid across the adipocyte can trigger this differentiation of adipocytes and production of new fully formed fat cells. This is why an entire chapter of my book is spent on the diet AFTER the diet because you can really screw yourself up during the immediate post diet period.
I’ve done even more research into this aspect of dieting recently and have found some extremely interesting strategies that may help prevent this and limit overall fat regain (other than just not eating like an asshole). I will be organizing some of these and sharing them soon. In the meantime what I can tell you is 1) Do NOT binge eat post diet. Period. 2) Do not regain more than 30% of what you lost in the first week post diet 3) Do NOT use the first week post diet to take a week off from the gym. Continuing to train hard is one of the best things you can do to prevent triggering this undesirable outcome.

✅ Lots of 🎾 - it doesn’t have to be tennis, it can be your own sport of choice. One of the good things about sport is that you aren’t even thinking about burning calories, just having fun, and often with your friends. A great way of burning calories if like me, you don’t enjoy Gym-Cardio.

✅ @myfitnesspal - I know, I talk about this A LOT, but it still amazes me how many people haven’t heard of it or have it downloaded on their phone but don’t use it. 😱 By tracking my daily calorie intake over the 8 weeks it allowed me more freedom with the foods I ate. 🍫 I ensured that the foods I knew and loved were being eating whilst staying in a calorie deficit to allow for fat loss. 💪🏼
.
✅ Continuing to lift heavy - a lot of people have been asking me if I used lighter weights for higher reps. Simple answer - NO. Unless you are returning from an injury or trying to avoid one, there is no place for light weights when looking to build or retain muscle. ❌ You must continue to lift your heaviest weights possible with good form, especially when your goal is fat loss! By suddenly going lighter and reducing your training volume, you put yourself at an even greater risk of losing muscle. 😟 Keep lifting heavy with the goal of getting stronger. 🙌🏼

This weekend I’ve eaten my weight in all the things I haven’t been able to eat for the last eight weeks, but boyyyy was it worth it. Friday was genuinely the most ridiculous, emotional, exhilarating things I’ve ever done. So many amazing moments - shout out to my friends, the best supporters in the world, who got a telling off from security for being too loud - and NATURALLY repeated the show in the pub. I love my loud friends 💕 thank you for being there on the big night!
.
None of this would have happened without eight weeks of hard graft - aka eight weeks of being the magnificent walking bruise! If you’re thinking of signing up to the event, know you’re in good hands - @teamtieuofficial are world class, you could not ask for better instructors. There are a lot of white collar events out there - but I doubt any others have this caliber of trainers. When your instructors are fighting in the O2 the day after your match, you know it’s legit. Huge thanks @amro_ghanem (thank you for being in my corner!!), @the_beast_from_the_east_88, @carlton_lieu, David, Phil and everyone else I don’t have on insta for the constant encouragement. EVEN THE DREADED BURPEES. I’ll see you at the gym - I think I have “train hard, fight easy” tattooed on my brain for life... .
Winning was amazing but obviously this isn’t all about that - thank you to everyone who donated, from Ammanford to Brisbane, we raised more than £1,000 for the NSPCC! And there’s still time to donate more - I’ll keep the link in my bio for a bit longer for those post-fight donations. WAAA CAN U BELIEVE I ACTUALLY DID IT THO (thus ends the longest instagram caption in history)

As I’ve hinted, I’ve been having some... things... for the past few months. Autoimmune flareups, to be specific. Colitis, celiacs, an ulcer and some lupus... still waiting to hear. It’s all been a smidge painful, entirely gratitude-inspiring and full of life-enriching lessons and wisdom. But also, muscle wasting with lots of “fast” (hyperthyroid) days, a very weird feeling. The muscle wasting has been frustrating, but the rebuild is a wonderful opportunity. #Gratitude 🙌🏽 -
-
-
I’ve spoken to difficulties “bulking” in the past; with colitis and celiacs, it doesn’t work so well for me. It triggers flareups to eat more than a certain amount, which leads to the opposite... Then, the body starts burning faster than usual, for no apparent reason... fun for like, a day, and then all the hard work... down the drain. -
-
-
Then a little injury here, a little flu there... Perfect storm for throwing in the towel? As if! I am SO excited to be #able to get back to the gym full throttle after a #deload few months. Train hard, eat what I can, and #share what HAS worked through these experiences. #PositiveVibes ✨ All about celebrating ANY opportunity to gain a new perspective. -

Today, each of us has a new lease on life. Choosing to be full of worth, viewing the world as a friendly place, and being effusively hopeful about the future. The possibilities are infinite and so are you!💕✨-

Health IS wealth. Reach out if you want to talk about #autoimmune issues or other health stuff. Community helps. Sharing is caring, and one can’t ever be too recovered. Thank you, to each who have had my back through everything. Patience, love and compassion make the world go round.🌟 -

After i managed to hurt my rib cage on Sat I thought/felt like there is no chance of me lifting anything heavier than my cup of coffee for a good while. Fortunately, i was wrong. Listened to some great advices as to how to deal with such an “injury” and woke up this morning feeling a lot better and in less pain. Yay. Determination can get you far so can sleep and rest (when really needed). -
-
Last heavy session before Nationals done and dusted. Managed to do all three lifts without my ribs making me wanna cry. Filmed my deads only though. Kinda easy, belt less, 135kg/298lbs for top single. #5daysOut -
-
Sometimes it’s about pushing through the pain. Sometimes it’s about overcoming laziness or tiredness and getting it done regardless of how we feel. Sometimes it’s about listening to our body and being careful (esp when injured or not feeling well). Train hard but smart. -
-
P.s. yes, that’s my coaches jacket. I was freezing cold and it was warm, “fit me” just about right and hence helped me lift heavy things. Not happy about the fact that it didn’t match my shoes though 🤦🏻‍♀️. #goodEnoughCoach naah #bestCoachEver @marshcoaching -

I keep it simple folks, when i eat shit i make sure i destroy the gym with a hard session, other than that i eat well and train hard regularly and that's it. I'm in the best shape of my life right now excluding my past fightcamps, anyone that knows me knows that i balloon up to 88kg after each fightcamp (fighters know the crack) only recently i was walking around 81kg fresh and in the past while I've upped the food and weights and I'm now walking around 84kg trim and happy.

I'm a generalists when it comes to food/diet, i don't stick to one diet or stop eating certain food, ill try everything give it a real go and learn from it. I'm lucky to have the discipline to do this where alot of people would need direction and a personal trainer/nutritionist so for me the best diet is one that suits you where you're enjoying it, in saying that try have an open mind and experiment you'll learn how to listen to your body and what its telling you, this is where you're getting self educated and you'll gain so much value from it.

Hard work won't fail

Everytime you go to workout pretend that you go to the church

Example : before you go to the church you must pray for the sermon that you, you give your body to the god, just like go to the gym you pray to the god for all the gains that you deserve to achieve and prove that you're worhty to achieve those gains

Church have activities like singing, listen to sermon imagine that is your workout. Train hard AF don't count the hours, count those set, reps. cause every set, every reps counts. If you puke that's okay, sit for 2 minutes and then get back up again and train! Cause that's what seperate the winner and the loser

After the sermon you pray again for the blessing that you achieved in the church. If you workout your suplementation and foods are your blessing. they bless your body, they feed your muscle

1.) Clean up when you wake up. Arnold says that keeping things neat and tidy is “A good way of introducing more discipline and control in the rest of your life.”
2.) Train hard and train early. “Dedication yields the best results.”, Arnold says. He is a firm believer that the best workouts take place in the early AM hours.
3). Suns Out - Guns Out. Arnold is neither a fan of tanning beds nor just “lying out.” He says that the best way to get a legit tan is to work out outdoors. Can’t say he’s wrong there. After his workout in the gym, he’d take a stroll to the outdoor gymnasiums in Venice’s Muscle Beach to get that outdoor workout in.
4.) For Lunch - Meat Eaters Unite. Arnold is a fan of smaller, protein rich meals throughout the day, Three meals a day is good," he wrote in "The Encyclopedia," "[but] four meals a day is better.”, he says.
5.) Get to work. Arnold is well known for his entrepreneurial endeavors. Aside from lifting weights and playing cyborgs, Arnold and his partner Franco Columbo started their own construction business and some of the structures (walls, mostly) that they built are still in existence to this day. He also has some hilarious stories about sales & negotiation tactics that he used back in his construction days, that you'll have to read up on 🤣
6.) One last workout for the day. It was customary for Arnold to perform two workouts in a day quite often. Of course he would split up muscle groups and regimens between to the two to optimize his muscle growth.

Some of you have asked: what’s my approach to fitness right now? Building muscle? Fat loss phase? Maintenance? 🤔 want to know what’s funny? All these questions I get asked are related to my physique — made me wonder, is that what many of us feel “fitness” is defined as? Our approach to fitness is based on a physique change or focal point? #RandomJordynThoughts •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Honestly, I can relate to these questions — I mean, I have asked them before to others as well, even myself. You see someone and think, is she/he doing a gaining phase or fat loss phase? Or are they maintaining? 💁🏼‍♀️ who knows, but personally here is what my approach is now: #Day95&96OfDailyAffirmations #BecauseEverydayIsABeautifulFeeakingDay
・・・
body appreciation.
1. Body appreciation: movement and exercise are far more expansive than bodybuilding, CrossFit, circuit training, fat loss, muscle building, maintenance, etc. Being an athlete with an affinity for perfectionism, equating “fitness” to hours of blood and sweat in the gym comes naturally. How many of you have beat yourself up (or even extended your workouts) when you feel as though you haven’t “done enough?” #DasssMe There is the logic saying, “if you didn’t sweat, or your not able to walk after your workout, you didn’t train hard enough. #Science 🤓 Now, my time is to basically unlearn this — mentally and physically unteach myself ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Workout routine: based around internal cues, that is again, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL! Ex. Today is leg day, i wake up, can barely walk up my stairs, muscle feel sore and weak, mentally not feeling the gym — forcing myself to hit the gym because today is as i quoted “LEG DAY” based on programming — but my body and mind say something different. What do i do instead? Look within, and focus on what my body is responding to at that time. Could be a switch to an upper body day, could be yoga, or walks in sunshine, or could be foam rolling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Engaging in mindful movement: past self was not mindful ... she was aware of what her body was saying but that awareness was quickly pushed to the back of her mind ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Changing your body composition // I’ve posted about this quite a bit (so sorry for being repetitive!) but I’ve gotten several request on how I changed my body composition so here’s my experience with this...
It started out with me saying screw the scale (I couldn’t lose weight to save my life) and I just decided to start working out and eating right for the sake of being healthy. Lo a& behold I eventually went from a size 9 - size 2 AND STAYED THE SAME WEIGHT (140lbs for reference). I was doing plyometrics and just dabbling in weightlifting at that point. Just changing my lifestyle and going from sedentary and bad diet to being more active and eating better did this. I was newbie so my body reacted really well to this change. It didn’t happen overnight but over a span of a few years. So if this is something you want to do then you have to be patient and consistent. I never missed a gym day but I did mess up a lot on my diet. Despite it all I still made progress 😂.
Then I met @diegodelatorre_fit ❤️ & he taught me how to lift, get stronger and train hard. I went from the pic on the left to the pic on the right in 8 months. So even after changing my body composition the first time, I was able to change it again because I did a totally new style of training (& I worked hard). This was when I started lifting heavy, doing compound lifts like deadlifts, squats & benching. I had a training split and trained each muscle specifically with a purpose. What’s not shown but is important to note is that I bulked in between these photos which contributed to my gainz. That was the most I’ve ever weighed and felt chunky but it paid off. I was 134lbs in the first pic and bulked to 150lbs. I am about the same weight in both flexing pics.
I know some might be hoping for an easy answer to change their body composition but there isn’t one. It takes some hard work by changing your habits, pushing yourself with your workouts, not quitting when it gets hard & improving your nutrition. It may sound difficult but it doesn’t have to be 😊. Have fun with your workouts! Enjoy healthy foods! This lifestyle will feel like second nature when it’s more enjoyable & the results will follow.

It feels good to workout just a little bit, when you left hard times behind you. Never give up, when you lost your father by death and you have to search at the same time for a new job. I am squating 2 plates each side which is 235lbs and using my @thesquattowel to protect my neck from the bar. I'm really focused on trying to get form perfected and going deep and controled. Today was quad focus so after doing a few sets low squat, I finished with a few higher up, pulsating squats, to keep things more focused in the quads. It was nice to finally get a squat rack today as I haven't got one at the gym for months. Today that is at least one thing I'm greatful for. There are list of others too but I'll save that for my nightly gratitude journal. ❤️ With the same process that u take to train ur body, can be used to train ur mind and ur soul. Read and reflect and share and open up and let it come from a place of love. Things will flow. Ur mind like ur body can be lazy, ur thoughts like to stay in the comfort zone of what it's been use to. What is ur inner dialogue? Do u truely know what secrets u tell urself, about urself and ur daily experiences? U might be surprised how negative u may be thinking and the only way to catch that is to be honest with urself, become aware. Once u are aware, just catching urself is a huge progress, so be forgiving when u realise what limitations u keep putting on yourself. Stop the, I can'ts and the, it's too hard for me and the, I will never... Change it to, I recognize what it is that I want to achieve and, I am starting towards what I need to do so that one day I will achieve it, this is challenging and I like a challenge and I'm so proud of myself to keep practicing towards making it happen and every time I am trying I am getting closer and closer and I know I will achieve it, every day I keep trying I get better and better and I can feel how it feels when I finally get it and it will feel so good to know I accomplished something that is challenging. Watch everything change for the better when ur perspectives change to feel better. .
Thank u @dennis.hartley for taking this video for me. .
