I photographed this dove at the Jordan River near the Dead Sea in the region of Judea. I gotta tell you, it’s pretty cool to see doves in the location where Jesus would have been baptized! But this image also reminds me of the symbolism doves have had in Jewish culture since before the time of Jesus. You see, for generations, the rabbis have taught that the dove is a picture of anyone who follows God. They would teach; “As the dove is faithful to her mate from the first moment they meet, so believers remains faithful to God. As the dove is saved by her wings, so believers are saved by the commandments. As the dove produces eggs each month, so do believer produce new good deeds each month.” And it’s not just doves—first century believers also used other birds to remind themselves of God's promises, His grace and mercy, and His presence.

So today, when you see birds fly past your window, in the sky outside your house, or in trees, I pray that you will be reminded of God’s promises, of His grace and mercy, and of His presence with you. And may the birds you see remind you to produce good deeds today.

"I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven" — John 1:32

I am proud to be a Christian . So today as a profession of my faith and my identity in Christ, I re-dedicated my life and commitment to Him. He identifies with me & I with Him.
Thank you Pastor Armour D. Stephenson III for following biblical truths and performing this sacred act over my life. Thank you City of Truth Church for being the place I call HOME and feel safe in community with. Thank you friends and family for supporting me, and most of all, thank you God for loving the imperfect person I am and calling me your daughter ❤️ “Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.””

If your profession of faith doesn’t carry with it love toward God manifesting itself in brokenness over sin against God, a desire to know Him, and a desire not to sin against Him, then you have been deceived into a “pray this prayer”, “close your eyes...with nobody looking, raise your hand....I see you”, “just get baptized”, “if you make a mental assent to these historical facts, you’re good”, “accept Jesus and He’ll make everything in your life better”, etc. false gospel.
—————————————————
If your heart (not the organ, but the core of who you are. Your thinking, your will, your affections, your direction, your values, etc.) has not been changed by God, your life will be characterized by outward manifestations of sin.
••Pride, lust, lying, outbursts of anger, foul language, illicit sex, adultery, selfishness, worldly desires, drunkenness/drug use, etc.
—————————————————
Please know, that if this is what your life looks like, then you are NOT a Christian. You may say that you believe in Jesus, but until you see God as infinitely Holy and yourself as a sinner that deserves the death He justly pours out on those who sin against Him, you’ll never truly believe in Jesus as your Savior. His death will not make sense or mean anything to you until you truly understand what you deserve.

Eternity oh eternity! We all deserve eternal separation from a holy God who hates sin, and pours out His wrath upon sinners. For the sinner, this is terrifying, we will all die and face God to be judged in righteousness, outside of Christ, we have none. We will be cast out into eternity under God’s Holy wrath if we are not truly found in Christ. Eternity has no end, what a horrible shock to all those who are deceived into believing they are “fine” with a Holy God while living a life of sin that He hates.
——
In Christ, there is forgiveness.
Repent and trust in Him, believing the Gospel doesn’t mean believing He exists. Many saw He existed and didn’t have eternal life, believing the Gospel means believing that He bore all of your sins in His body and died an infinite death (our sins deserve eternal punishment, He is God in flesh,

Swipe ⬅️ Before I dig in I just wanna say how much respect I have for each person and their beliefs and whatever makes you a better person than you were the night before. ✨Quick side note: Alyssa and I have very different upbringings and reasons behind being re-baptized and I couldn’t be happier we did this together! ✨ Now, if you knew me in middle school or beyond you might know I was a Christian (I did my best lol), but that doesn’t always mean I had the answers. As I’ve gotten older, more educated (on other beliefs, religions, forms of meditation, where people find their peace), I’ve grown far and then close from my faith time and time again. Asking the hard questions, and sometimes the simple ones like “Where are you??” I’ve cried, laughed, been high and low in my relationship with God. This last year presented its difficulties, and I won’t get too into it, but it simply kicked my ASS. (family stuff, a new anxiety disorder, financial changes.. adult everything lmao) Straight up got to the point where I was completely fed up with myself. Worst part, I stopped going out of my way to do nice things for people because I decided my problems were too big and I just didn’t have time anymore which in the end only made me more discouraged and unfulfilled. My life was/is being ran by fear, and “FEAR HE IS A LIAR.” I say “is” because I’m working on it. FOR ME, I found I was missing a best friend. One I talked to regularly that was starting to feel far away. Someone who gave me that peace and security we all really want. FOR ME, I just don’t function through life as well without Him. I won’t tell you what you need, all I can do is share what works FOR ME. So here’s a video of a teary eyed, brown haired girl, with still so many questions, recommitting herself to a better quality of life that makes her a better daughter, friend, sister, aunt, girlfriend, citizen of these united states, and even co worker. God just works for me. If you have something in your life that can do that for you, I admire that. FOR ME GOD IS IT. He is a Father you can count on, and he’s been actively shaking me to the core with that reminder this last month. Have a great week you guys! 💛

Happy Name day to all that are celebrating today may the Lord always guide you and protect you 🙏🏻✝️ Χρόνια σας Πολλά ! Να σας έχει ο Θεός παντα καλά
Constantine was the son of Constantius Chlorus, emperor of the western half of the Roman Empire in the year 274 AD. His mother, Helen was a Christian, of humble birth. In 294, Constantius divorced Helen in favor of a woman of nobility, so as to further his political ambitions. Upon the death of Constantius in 306, Constantine was proclaimed emperor of Gaul and Britain and subsequently led his army against co-rulers of the empire. On the eve of the Battle of Milvain, Constantine saw in the sky above the sign of the Cross with the words “In this, conquer.” Ordering his troops to paint a cross on their shields, Constantine lead his army to victory, effectively uniting the Roman Empire and become sole emperor of East and West.

Although he was only baptized on his deathbed, Constantine ensured the freedom of Christians to worship openly [Edict of Milan, 313 AD] and supported the work of the Church, building new churches, and supporting its clergy. He transferred the capital of the Empire to Byzantium to the East, and the city was renamed Constantinople in his honor.

The emperor-saint came to the aid of the newly emancipated Christian Church in 325 AD when he convened the 1st Ecumenical Council in the city of Nicea, to settle quarrels provoked throughout the Empire by the Arian Heresy, which denied the divinity of Christ, teaching that He was a mere creature. The Council soundly condemned Arius and his teachings, producing the Symbol of Faith [Creed] still recited by the Church today [I believe…’]. After the Council of Nicea, Constantine remained deeply committed to overseeing the welfare of the Church. He was ever-reverent of the Sign of the Cross of Christ and wished to find the actual Cross. For this purpose he sent his mother Helen to Palestine, giving her both the money and authority to search for the Cross and places connected with the earthly life of Jesus. In 326 AD, the Cross was miraculously discovered in Jerusalem in 326 AD. Helen gave the Cross to the Patriarch of Jerusalem

Lydia, An Influential Businesswoman

Lydia came from Thyatira, a city in the western province of Lydia in Asia Minor. Her name originally might have been the designation of her home, “a woman of Lydia.” At the time Lydia met Paul, she lived at Philippi, a leading city of Macedonia on the European continent.

As a wealthy and influential businesswoman, Lydia sold articles dyed purple, a prized color made from certain mollusks—a respectable and lucrative trade. She had a spacious home that could accommodate many guests and servants to meet their needs. This had to be a rare achievement in her day. She surely must have been a hard-working, bold, intelligent woman to achieve the success she enjoyed.

One Sabbath day, Lydia went to the river’s shore that had been designated by the Roman authorities of Philippi as a place of prayer and worship for the Jews. There she met Paul and Silas, who had been in Philippi only a short time. While others along the river may have rejected Paul’s words about Jesus, Lydia accepted them and became a believer. Once she believed, she made a confession of her faith to her whole world through baptism and then, she assembled her entire household, told them what had happened to her and asked them to believe. After her entire household accepted Christ as Savior and were baptized, Lydia invited Paul and Silas to stay in her home. When Paul and Silas were thrown into a Philippian prison, Lydia visited them and attended to their needs. Her house became the meeting place of the first European church.

Lydia was quick to perceive that what had been hers before her conversion—home, business and possessions—now belonged to the Lord. She had a new partner, the Lord Jesus; a new purpose, to serve him; and a new satisfaction in seeking to be effective and successful in order to glorify the Lord. Her career aspirations did not hinder her sharing the gospel with family and friends. She was not too busy to take time for hospitality (Ac 16:15). Lydia’s name appears in Scripture only twice. She was seemingly the first Gentile convert in Europe, the first Christian businesswoman and the first believer to open her home as a worship center for European Chri

Further, Moses in his canticle says: You sent your spirit, and the sea overwhelmed them. You observe that in this crossing by the Hebrews there was already a symbol of holy baptism. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” - Getting a lot of out this little book... In the New Testament we see Paul on many what would seem short term missions trips, while more often than not this is because he was kicked out or persecuted. Missions trips can be long term for the purpose of planting in places that you will literally be bringing The Gospel and planting a community. Short term missions are for the purpose of encouraging and building up, by way of serving the local community. Evaluation for Mission? He states 1. Excellent in their work. 2. Strategic in their focus. 3. Widely known by the congregation. North America sends approximately 1 million missionaries out into short term missions and the biggest concern is that it is often not accompanied by the preaching of The Gospel, meaning instead it is good deeds in the midst of community. Remember!!! “The Gospel is the power unto salvation.” As people do repent, as they are baptized and as God builds His Church, we can rejoice, but I will tell you since being a Christian since 2004 I’m amazed getting emails ten years later from people whose lives where changed by one verse they heard way back. “Some plant, dome water, but God gives the increase.” For others reading this, Jesus rebuke of Peter saying “get behind me Satan” as he plans his own ways is challenging enough. His Will, not ours.

Easter Vigil mass was always the most special mass of the year. It’s where I was baptized, received communion, and was confirmed into the Catholic Church. From the darkness of the church, the spreading flame of the candles, to the ringing bells and the illumination of the cathedral, it’s always made me feel renewed. Even in the depths of despair and sorrow, there is hope for life. In my lowest moments, times when I’ve questioned my sanity or my worth, this hope has kept me alive. We must always find that hope. I have never felt unloved or judged by God, only by people, people who often proudly proclaim their faith and devotion. Judgement is never our place, and those who truly believe truly love without judgement or bias or fear. So love freely, openly, deeply. Happy Easter.

My next Uganda story is about Abraham, Timothy Mark, and Dan, my “little” brothers - in honor of Abraham’s birthday today!
.
These young men have a longer story than this Instagram caption would allow, but it’s worth hearing- and I’m sure one of them would love to tell it to you via WhatsApp sometime. 🙂
.
Hearts and Hope first met these boys when they were living on a piece of cardboard on the streets of Jinja, and knew they had to help. Since then, there have been many ups and downs- they’ve been in and out of school, on and off the streets, and in and out of our lives for the past several years. The ups and downs will continue, but they are now in safe homes and attending vocational school to become drivers and support themselves. This trip, we watched Abraham and Dan get confirmed in the Christian faith, and Timothy Mark (his new baptized name!) be baptized. .
I love being a sister to these boys, even when they drive me crazy- and I’m so excited to be able to witness them growing into strong, respectful young men.

Amen!!! Know yourself, know the dead man in you who Christ died to free you from - and be killing him daily, by the power of God's Spirit!!! Do not become numb to your sin. Wx |
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." Romans 6:1‭-‬14 |

For on the third day after His sacrifice upon the cross for our sins, He rose again, conquering death and giving eternal life for those who believe in Him! "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."-John 3:16 NIV .
I know that for the most part I haven't spoken or written much in my poems about my faith. I am a Christian, a Woman of God, that believes in the Bible and that Jesus died on the cross at Golgotha, just outside the walls of Jeruselum, to wash away the sins of the world. And that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.
Though I was raised in a Christian home, I wasn't baptized at my home church, Christ's Church of the Valley @ccvonline , until March 16th, 2014; just a little over a week before my 28th birthday. It was the best decision I ever made in my life! I have faith in God's Word and His Will for my life. I plan to share more of my writings that show my faith. "'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" -John 14:6 NIV .
I fully believe that accepting Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior is the only way to heaven.
I know many may disagree or have their own opinions, and that is your right. Just know that my faith grows stronger every day and I want to share more of that to the world.
I hope you all stick around! I love all you amazing people both near and far no matter what. Happy Easter! "And now these three remain; faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." -1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV . ✝💜Ashleigh ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• #poetess #writer #photographer #Christian #WomanofGod #HeisRisen #heiskingofkings #daughteroftheking #poetcommunity #writerscommunity #photographercommunity #happyeaster #April1st2018 #CCV #christchurchofthevalley #Arizona #baptized #tattooed #jesusislord #thewaythetruththelife #calledtobecreative #instagramcreative #faith #hope #love #blessed #bodypeircingsavedmylife #forgiven #bible #ashleigh_reagan_lucero

About 2 years ago after losing my place in the Catholic Church and losing sense of community in church and was on a brink of losing my faith. But, my best friend @v1nceyboy took me and brought me to @rockypeakchurch and changed my life forever. After becoming Christian and experiencing true community I have found my place and where I belong in Jesus’ path for me. Today I took the step to commit my faith and sacrifice my body and become baptized for Jesus as a Christian. Now, I look to continue my journey and serve for him. I’m so blessed and I’m excited for my future with Christ. Also, Cale thanks for being there for the past year and I’m so happy we were able to be baptized together! #lifeupdate #baptized #rockypeakchurch

"I was a new Christian, and we were looking for a younger church that we could plug into and get back to basics," Justin says. Justin was baptized at Church in the Park two years ago.
—⠀
Q: How did you meet Jesus?
A: "My mother in law led me to Jesus after not being involved since I was very young. My parents taught me about Jesus, but after their divorce when I was 6 or 7, they quickly took a hands-off approach to faith and wanted me to find my own path. I initially thought this was a good thing; I learned about a lot of different faith systems from an academic point of view. I didn't look much deeper than that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After meeting my wife and after we started dating, I quickly realized she had something I didn't. I didn't know what it was at first but I was intrigued. After meeting her friends and becoming friends with them myself, I soon realized I wanted to be like these people. It was only after I approached my wife (then girlfriend) and mentioned how everyone she knew was subtly different than anyone I knew, that I discovered they were all Christians with well rooted faith. I knew then that I owed it to myself to start asking the big questions because I wasn't getting fulfilment from what the world was offering me up to that point."
—⠀
Q: How do you feel since being baptized? What has changed?
A: "I have always struggled with anxiety ever since I was young. Panic attacks were something I lived with on a fairly regular basis. Today, while still anxious from time to time, I feel grounded in my faith that God has a plan for all this craziness. When I feel like I don't have any control, I just realize I don't! That's okay. Before I would collapse under the weight of it all. I have him for strength and guidance now."
—⠀
Q: What would you say to someone thinking about being baptized at Church in the Park
this year?
A: "Think and pray about it. Your baptism is important and you should feel ready for it. Understand why you are doing it. Don't worry too much though, it's an exciting experience and if you fully embrace it, it will change you forever."

It's hard to grow your faith in your comfort zone. #go
I did the most nerve racking, unexpected, beautiful thing ever. I never thought I would ever attend church, let alone get baptized. I look back on my life, now as a Christian; and I see how God picked me up every time I fell. I was not a believer, I was ignorant, mean, angry, depressed, hurtful; but He, the king of all kings- laid His hands on me and proclaimed that I am His child and that He loves me. I'm so happy that I'm a changed women forever. Sunday, Oct 1st, 2017 I celebrated a new birthday with @vivaaalishaa 💛 we were both so nervous because that's not how we imagined this moment to be. In that moment, of being uncertain if I should do this or not, I realized God has everything planned out for you already. Things are never gonna go your way, it's all HIS WAY! He is not going to wait on you to make sure everything is perfect for you. He is the most perfect of them all and His story for you is already perfect; open your eyes, follow his voice, trust Jesus.
@colchurch changed my life forever. I have a home away from home. @jeffreysmith Thank you for being such an amazing pastor. (I wish I knew the names of the two wonderful souls who baptized me; but if they ever stumble upon this I really want to say Thank you 💙)

.
She was the sixth child and fourth daughter among the seven children of Ludwig IV, Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine and his first wife Princess Alice, Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine (born Princess Alice of the United Kingdom).
.
Alix was baptized on 1 July 1872 (her parents' tenth wedding anniversary) according to the rites of the Lutheran Church and given the names of her mother and each of her mother's four sisters, some of which were transliterated into German: Alix Viktoria Helene Luise Beatrix of Hesse and by Rhine.
.
She was given the Christian name and patronymic Alexandra Feodorovna upon being received into the Russian Orthodox Church.
.
Alexandra was Empress of Russia as the spouse of Nicholas II — the last ruler of the Russian Empire — from their marriage on 1894 at abdication on 1917.
.
Alexandra was the mother of five children: Olga (1895-1918), Tatiana (1897-1918), Maria (1899-1918), Anastasia (1901-1918) and Alexei (1904-1918).
.
Alexandra was, like her grandmother Queen Victoria, one of the most famous royal carriers of the haemophilia disease.
.
Her reputation for influencing her husband's resistance to the surrender of autocratic authority over the country and her known faith in the Russian mystic, Grigori Rasputin, severely damaged her popularity and that of the Romanov monarchy in its final years.

I remember going to church as a child and falling short as a teen, but I would always find my way back. I guess I was considered a “in and out” christian. When things got bumpy I would go to church, pray and when things “got better” I would go on with my way. I have always struggled with anxiety and It wasn’t until recently that I realized I needed something more. Pastor Gary couldn’t have said it better, I needed to be grounded. Grounded in my faith, to have freedom from my worries and everyday stresses of this crazy world, I needed to be able to “let go, and let God”. I decided to take this opportunity to get baptized to refresh myself, to leave behind my old, toxic mind and move forward in a more positive, faithful and happy life. It doesn’t mean my life is going to be perfect or struggle free, but it does mean that I have faith in the future and I do not have to face this world alone. ➕🙏🏼🙌🏼💙 @mynewwalkchurch #newwalkchurch #baptism #baptized #godisgood #renewed #jesus

The enemy attacks by making us feel inadequate, but faith and obedience and love for the father allows, drives us to continue. To see someone being baptized is the same feeling I imagine if I were to see my future child being born (if I was blessed in future) to see someone turn away from darkness and to proclaim Jesus as Lord by this way is one of the most priceless things even in this fallen world.

So many people who call themselves "Christians" are only baptized and attend church on Sunday mornings. Being a Christian takes so much more than that. Persecuting people who are gay?!? We have no place in this life to judge them THEY ARE JUST LIKE US! Why can't you just show that you love them? Because that's why we are here. Not to tell them they're going to Hell, but to love them and help them in any way we can. Trying to change them is like trying to get them to stop being who they are. No, I don't agree with their life choices, but you know what? It's not my life.
Same goes for anyone who's not a christian... do you HATE them?
You as a christian are called to strive to be like Christ... would Christ turn away from those who sin?
Verses:
Luke 7:47, 6:32 | Matthew 6:14-15, 5:43-44

Before the arguments start, just putting out there that this is about sin and lust in general, not just gays. I just know that so many Christians hate them, just because we disagree.
