I've always enjoyed working out, and grew up as a gymnast, but after getting diagnosed w/degenerative disc disease when I was 14 my whole life changed, and I lost that athlete part of myself. Until now. I'm amazed that through weight training I've not only rediscovered that same joy I once had in the (gymnastics) gym, but found my body getting SO much stronger, including my back, and feeling SO much better overall! I went in for X-rays recently w/my doctor, and my back has improved-which is insane, b/c I was told before that it probably would never get better. Only worse. Looking great is nice, but FEELING great, and finding not just outer but inner strength is what pushes me forward. Getting serious about fitness this year has done leaps & bounds for my mental health, energy and helps manage my chronic pain, so I could not be more excited to keep going, and make this newfound hobby a focus & commitment in my life that's here to stay! When I love something, I just want to share it, so this opportunity to share my new favorite thing is something I'm really passionate about! I hope I get to share it with you, and see ya on the 18th if you're local & want to come out! All fitness levels are welcome!❤

The only way is if you keep it to a minimum. Don’t over do it & try not to have too many sugared drinks. Some examples are: 🍹🍸

Every drink has X amount of calories! That’s why when I drink it’s straight Vodka on the Rocks. Which helps me intake the least amount of calories and least amount of sugar.

Today’s upper body strength session was a perfect example of how simple your training can be. Basic exercises that I consistently perform week on week to improve the strength, performance and look of my upper body.

1) Pull Ups = 3 x 10-12
SUPERSET
Press Ups = 3 x 12
2) Standing DB OHP = 2 x 8
3) Bench Press = 3 x 6
4) DB Bent Over Rows = 3 x 12
SUPERSET
Seated DB Lat Raises = 3 x 12
5) Tricep Dips = 3 x 10
SUPERSET
Ab Wheel Roll Outs = 3 x 12

This took me just under an hour and included a warm up and cool down. Sometimes simple works best and you don’t always have to try and reinvent the wheel!

📝HONORABLE MENTIONS: I also really like biking/cycling, sled pushes, backward sled walking/dragging, backward uphill walking, and leg extensions for quad development. ➖➖➖➖
🧠The quads have a healthy mix of slow and fast-twitch muscle fibers so be sure to use all loads and all rep ranges for max gainz. That being said, I would set a minimum goal of 30-60 seconds of time-under-tension per set if your goal is strictly muscle gain. I even do sets of 1-2+ minutes at a time for serious pump and burn and metabolic stress. I find these protocols not only lead to more muscle gain and less joint stress, but they also bulletproof the joints and prepare your body for small doses of heavier work. It's all about longevity, baby!

🔸 I have cut back my cardio this week to about 3 times x week for 15-20 min. Resistance training has been no longer than 50 minutes in duration. Diet has been falling a bit behind but I’ve been making up any shortcomings with my @mansports Stack!

Grab a low riser aerobic stepper and place it next to the stair master.
Do a 5 min warm up. Then crank the intensity to level 12 it higher for 1 min, followed by 1 min level 8. Repeat 3x.
Get off the stepper do 10 per leg incline reverse, forward, curtsy and curtsy lunges (not alternating). Step to the side and do 20 jump lunges. Repeat entire circuit 4 x.

As soon as I got to the gym, my mind started wandering and I started creating and having fun with the workouts. .

I am now going to incorporate ab isolations into my daily routine due to my injury, normally I don’t do a lot of Ab isolations because I am always working my abs and stabilizing myself in whatever movement I’m doing but since I don’t have a lot of options for upper body because of my wrists, I’m going to really focus on the abs… .
.
Some advice I got today was to buy some ankle weights to put on my feet while I’m doing leg raises and really get the resistance burning! 💪🏼 such a good tip… And now I can add them onto my stairmaster routine as well! . ⬇️Full Body Flat Abs Workout⬇️ 💥Calf Raises - 10 reps of feet inner/outer/straight/together x 3 sets.
💥Incline Lateral Planks - 30 seconds each side
💥Abs: 20 reps x 3 sets
💥Wood Chops x 15 Reps X 3 Sets
💥Leg Raises: 20 Reps x 3 Sets.
💥Chest Flys: 15 Reps x 3 Sets.

I'm always do cheat meals but don't overload for do it, stay on your mind always eat what you want, but don over eat it to much, stay what you start from the first that is eat clean and stay healthy

Hanging Leg Raises is workout you must do at the end of your workout, because it takes so much energy on your core muscles. But the impact of doing that is strenghtened your core muscles such as abdominals muscles.

Gaining that much weight was beyond hard, but somewhere along the way I convinced myself that once I “cured” my eating disorder, all the “excess” weight would all come off. Fast forward to wintertime ... I gained 45 pounds the summer after I quit fitness competitions due to a binge eating disorder.
Gaining that much weight was beyond hard, but somewhere along the way I convinced myself that once I “cured” my eating disorder, all the “excess” weight would all come off.
Fast forward to wintertime that same year... I was going to the gym 4 days a week, not binge eating as much, and overall feeling better about myself.
So naturally, I decided to step on the scale after avoiding it like the plague for 4 months.
I was at the gym and it was one of those medical scales where you have to adjust the weight until the beam balances. I moved the small weight to the right and then farther to the right but the balance beam was still tipped over to one side which meant I had to move the big weight, the one with increments of 50.
I finally got the beam to balance and I couldn’t believe it... I refused to believe it. I was only 2 pounds less than I was when I was binge eating all the time!
So I stepped on the digital scale only to see the same fucking number.
It didn’t make sense to me... my eating was “better”, my exercise more consistent, but my body?! What was I doing wrong that I wasn’t losing weight?!
The truth is, I wasn’t doing anything wrong and neither are you.
And here’s something that may be hard for you to hear: there’s no such thing as an “ideal weight.”
Sure, there may be a time (or a fantasy) where you were a certain weight and feeling good, so you associated said happiness with said weight. But this is just a neuro-association, a link created in your brain that says “X weight = X happiness”, but it’s not necessarily the TRUTH.
Some very important questions to ask yourself as you unpack this:
👉 If scales, mirrors, and OPO (other people’s opinions) didn’t exist, what would be my “ideal body?”
👉 Is the body I have now really that bad? Does it deserve constant scolding from me?
👉 How do I actually FEEL in my body? Not look, but truly feel the beauty of being alive…🙏

Jenna made a plan for me to go away with and do myself i didnt want the whole PT thing as i wanted to get my eating habits back to healthy again and my gym plan set! I felt better the fat was coming off and I was getting stronger in the gym .. I struggled some weeks with wanting to go out for tea/have treats/wonder if it's all worth it/why wasn't my results coming through as quick as they used to. What you have to realise is you get out what you put in, you have to trust your coach and the process and don't moan about your food it's hard enough without your mind not also being strong. Jenna is REAL she tells you what you can do, the goals set aren't unreachable she's been there and done it and look at her now.. she was the reason I still continue with this plan as the results come in .. I feel amazing .. So happy, confident, content, and proud that I've come this far i cant wait to see what else my body can do with her guidance .. this was never a 16 week transformation this was a change forever for me. My goal was to get back eating healthy and back in the gym, my goal now is to build up my ass and get those abs coming through more.. My Diet is my normal day to day I don't even think about it; the gym well I have the "bug" I enjoy it again. If you could see before and after pics of how our minds changes it would really show how far we have come.
I would advise anyone wanting to change or just advise, Jenna is amazing she makes a plan to suit your body not anyone else's and sets your goals and how to reach them!

Gente, el ejercicio aneróbico “de fuerza” es una forma simple de mejorar la tonicidad y volumen muscular. Junto a esto, además de mejorar la apariencia física, ganar fuerza, resistencia también aumentará el gasto energético total (cantidad absoluta de calorías que quema el organismo a diario debido a diferentes actividades) es decir se consumirá más energía en reposo. -_-

Instead, I set the goal of hitting 100 push-ups first thing in the morning on those days. Dan John might call it a Travel Program Minimum Minimum. Do that and it was a win. ⠀

I would choose 2-5 different pushup variations and break them up into sets of 20-30 reps. And I always tried to include 1-2 “explosive” variations to help maintain strength as much as possible. ⠀

You could easily add a lower body exercise to this protocol. How about hitting 100 BW squats and 100 pushups every morning? But I skipped legs because we were walking 12-20 miles per day with a pack. And feel free to shoot for more than 100 if you want ya over-achiever. 😜⠀

These are a few ways in which I stay motivated and on track with my fitness goals 💪🏼 🔸 Setting Goals 💪🏼 - Set yourself goals ranging for 1 month to 1 year. Your 1 months goals could include things like “Go to the gym 5 times this week”. Something than you know you can achieve during that month. Your 1 year goals will be more body specific. For example “add muscle mass to shoulders” this will mean adding more shoulder session to your training week and perhaps changing your training method for that muscle group. Personal bests are another great way to keep you pushing in the gym. Last month I increase my PB deadlift from 150kg to 170kg and it felt AMAZING!! 🔹 Meal Prep! 🍗 - Your preparation for the food you eat each day will determine how successful your fitness journey will be. If you find yourself without food when it’s time to eat, you often find yourself reaching for unhealthy snacks and getting into bad habits or eating out because it is simply easier. Preparing all of your food at the beginning of the week is the best way to stay on track with your diet! 🔸 Think outside the gym 🏃🏼‍♂️- If you are getting a little bored of just driving to the gym to run like a zombie! Why not try grabbing a friend and a bike and hitting the road. Or maybe you’re tired of your regular running routine—why not try a new group class? 🔹 Remeber, there’s an app for that 📲 - From food journals to weight loss trackers, your smart phones apps can help you stay on track with starting and maintaining a fitness plan, or understanding what you’re eating in a day. Apps like “MyFitnessPal” or “TrackMyWalk” are what I personally use to track my macros and my cardio sessions.

I was tall and awkward, but at least I could control one thing: my weight.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Then came college ... This is a long post 📝💭⁣⁣

Growing up I always felt pressure to be thin. I switched high schools 3 times, which meant I was always the “new girl” and needed to fit in with different friend groups. I was tall and awkward, but at least I could control one thing: my weight.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Then came college — a blur of solo cups and American Apparel body-con dresses. From the get-go, we are taught to fear things like “the freshman 15”. I constantly compared myself to other girls and thought I had to be skinny for guys to like me. I lived on Starbucks during the day, binged on pizza at night, did a ton of cardio, and stopped getting my period. Instead of being freaked out, I felt validated, like all of my hard work was paying off.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Fast forward to post-college.. I was becoming more comfortable with myself and stopped obsessing, but would yo-yo diet whenever I felt like I was getting too “fat”. My last year or so in NYC, I had an amazing but stressful job. I traveled a ton, worked late hours, drank A LOT of wine, and would eat whatever was convenient...🍷🥐🍔🍟🍕⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When I made the move to Cali, I was self-conscious. Everyone in LA wasn’t just skinny.. but FIT. Meanwhile, I was exhausted, suffering with stomach/GI issues, and couldn’t remember the last time I had seen a gym. It was definitely time to make some serious changes. That meant not starving myself down to fit into my college skinny jeans, but eating right and making time to get into a proper fitness routine.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In the last year, I finally discovered what my body needed and what I had neglected for so long: prioritizing being HEALTHY instead of skinny. Ironically, my college skinny jeans are loose now, but I’m physically + mentally so much stronger. I work out 4x a week and changed my eating habits and views on food completely. I sleep better, I feel better, my skin is clearer.. it’s amazing how your body thanks you when you finally take care of it the right way.⁣⁣

I wrote all this to say — If you struggle with body image issues you aren’t alone. Anyone can post a cute bikini pic, but it’s important for us to shed light on this topic and the fact that we need to learn to love + care for our bodies more. x

#weighttraining #bodybuilding we can all lose our mojo but it’s healthy to listen to our body & mind. So I’ve been back in the gym just over 1 month & I started with regaining my fitness first: by doing spin 3-4 days a week, 30-45 min sessions 2nd the last few days I’ve lifted weights & gone upto 40 mins & full spirit sets & reps, I’d previously lost all interest & I stopped before Xmas when I lifted a weight for 1 set & my mind wasn’t in it! I’ve tried Times but I knew I needed time out! So it now feels so good to lift weights again, being cardio fit & slip back into being super healthy. I so needed the time out!

I’m now back with added motivation & I’m just about to launch my new ebook & online training plans, and embark on a new way of teaching & go from one to one personal trainer to becoming a group training & start work at a new private gym in Essex. Coming out to of my comfort zone & teaching groups, well I never thought I’d do but in order to grow, I’m excited to learn to be a better teacher! I’m a big believer in trying differnt diets & training styles, that’s the best experience as a teacher to learn about it from your own experiences, no courses or websites can teach you it like learning first hand! I also believe personal trainers should be fit & healthy! You are your own advertisement after all!

Now I’m breaking out of that cycle and adding in different core workouts to enhance in my fitness. -

It's a fantastic way to get your core body temp up, create some good ROM/Stability at the joints and reinforce good positions for your lifts. There are so many benefits to just using your bodyweight at the gym, such as:
If you are a beginner, it teaches you some basic movements and builds a good foundation to lift weights from.
The risk of injury is also greatly reduced!
If you are low in confidence in using equipment, then going to the gym to just do bodyweight is a great way to get yourself comfortable with a gym environment before approaching the machines.
If you aren’t feeling 100% (how I feel right now actually), then this kind of training is a great way to get a sweat on, increase blood flow, speed up recovery, without pushing your body to the max and preventing recovery.
This workout can obviously be done without a gym if you have access to a pull up bar and some space to run (home or park etc). Here is my point: if your nutritional plan and training program is specifically designed for you and your current state, and you follow it, you will 100 % get immediate results, not only on your scale, but you will see your body changing, muscles are getting firmer, tighter and body fat is melting off you. You will feel the results by continuously altered performance and athletic improvement. If you do it right from the beginning it doesn’t take time, results starts immediately. Now on the other hand if you just think you can figure it out by yourself and you start going to the gym and you kind of eat healthy but you do not calculate it or measure it, then you gotta be real [email protected] lucky to get any results what so ever. If you want to lose body fat for example then you have to be in a constant caloric deficit by a small amount, in order to make sure you do it in a healthy sustainable manner and actually can build muscle mass in the same time. If you think you kind of do it right, then think of this: here is how it’s done: your BMR x your PAL = your calories to keep you in a neutral state, to lose body fat you need a minor deficit but always higher than your BMR. Your BMR is changing according to your changing measurements. So you can understand that it’s pretty hard to hit the correct number by chance: it’s like a one in a million chance. So if you daily try and hit that number hoping you will reach your goal obviously it will take a long time for you to realise that it’s just not going to happen. And it’s not because of your age, your genes, your blood type or anything else, it’s just simply because you didn’t do it right. A slight gradient will up the intensity and alter simple exercises to make you fitter & stronger.
I always endeavour to create different equations with training, using many variations of basic exercises to keep things stimulating. I still rep it out but I don’t tend to train in the conventional gym manner and the focus isn’t primarily on body image as opposed as it is to becoming generally more fit and having fun. Plus it’s made me madd strong & agile 💪🏼 Here is what I’m doing above;

Leg switch jumps (try it going up and down the hill) remember to turn around and work the other side x 3 sets

Agility sprints into crawling backwards x 3 sets
Jump squat forward > 180 degree jump squat > jump squat backwards > 180 degree jump squat (repeat) x 3 sets

1 legged hops x 3 sets each leg

Sprints x 3 sets

Try it out and repeat sets as desired! Well today starts a big change in my routine. Noooo part of me wanted to hit the gym this morning but I did and got shit done in the period of time I had. I woke up today exhausted but thankful because so many things seem to finally be falling into place, the persistence and hard work I’ve been putting in is starting to pay off. I recently saw a post of a beautiful pregnant woman, almost full term still killing it in the gym. It was awesome 👏 and then I noticed her husband comment and say that it’s the best thing a pregnant woman can do. •
While I think it’s awesome that pregnant women can continue working out throughout their pregnancy, there is also a good portion of women that cannot, and I’d hate for women (especially those that are first time moms) to think that if you don’t/can’t workout you’re a failure or there’s something wrong with you and you’ll never be able to get your body back or lose the weight etc. because you couldn’t go to the gym. •
I was one of those women that couldn’t step a foot into the gym my whole pregnancy and while I would have loved to, it wasn’t possible for me (or safe for my child). And I did have thoughts go through my head of ‘how am I going to lose this weight’ and ‘I’ll never get my body back’. It’s only human to think that. •
Post baby I was able to bounce back. I gained 37+ lbs during my pregnancy. Of course it took discipline but I also had a baby that slept and ate well. I did lack sleep but no where near what some moms experience SO I’m here to also tell you to let things take time and to not put so much pressure on yourself or compare yourself to other pregnant women. •
We all go through a cycle, in fact many cycles of ups and downs throughout our children’s lives. We have plenty of time to get in shape and adjust to life with a kid. Then we get thrown a curve ball. Fall off. And then get back on. I can tell you from my experience, it’s 100% been that way. Stresses of a 6 year old compared to a new born are a lot different but still stresses that affect our lives and bodies. •
If you’re a mom to be and you’re reading this, I have 5 words for you. ‘You will be just fine’. Promise x

Al principio seguramente costara, el #cuerpo esta vago y  seguir una #dieta no es facil, cambiar alimentos...dejar de #comer x cosas... seguir unas horas... pero dia a dia, te das cuenta que al subir esas escaleras te cansas menos ,que estas [email protected] de energia, tu cuerpo te pide moverse y te miras al #espejo te va gustando lo que ves, destierras esos vaqueros escondidos en el armario y te entran y encima te quedan bien! Y esa #avena tan buena para el desayuno que al principio te costaba comerte hasta te gusta.
Ya no te cuesta hacerlo, ya no estas a dieta, es tu forma de vida y ya no querras abandonarla 😉 te animas a descubrirlo?

For the past few weeks I've been engaging in personal training alongside my gal Samantha with Gayle at Warriors Gym.

Yesterday was my first full session doing weights and I felt absolutely indescribable afterwards. I've never seen myself as a 'fit' or 'sporty' person but the impact that physical exercise has had on my mind, body and general level of wellbeing is nothing short of transformative. I'm recognising the benefits and want to celebrate my successes- this is a huge achievement for me, particularly as a plus-size woman who has previously felt that health - conscious spaces are not for me.

I'm happy to report that I have now found a space where I feel supported, encouraged and built-up to be the best possible version of myself.

And for those wondering, I'm absolutely NOT doing this to 'get skinny' - I'm doing it to get strong (and so men will be afraid of me! 😉) 💪

Yes we all have days where we have every intention on getting to the gym, but then the day gets away from us and we are able to get there as planned. If you are like me, would much rather prefer to lift weights at the gym; however, on any given day if I can’t make it that doesn’t mean I’m skipping a workout. Just means I’m going to work with whatever time I have and space I have to get something in! A little bit is better than nothing! If you’ve been watching my stories you see that I get a lot of workouts done in my basement while my little plays. I thought I would share the lower body workout we did this morning:
-
1️⃣ perform each of the exercises above for 30 seconds with a 10 second rest in-between each exercise until you have done one set of everything. Rest x 1 minute and repeat the circuit again for a total of 3 rounds.
2️⃣ push yourself to try and get as many reps as you can in the 30 second time frame
3️⃣ Alt. = alternating between right and left sides
4️⃣ if you don’t have stairs - do squat jumps instead
5️⃣ Negative = go down slow & and controlled for at least a 5 second count and then go back up fast!
6️⃣ this workout is fairly advanced - so feel free to alter the exercises to suit your fitness level

Finisher:
💪🏼 finish the workout with the finisher listed above. Perform continuous for 20 seconds as fast as you can, then rest for 10 seconds & repeat x 5 rounds!
