1. Oatmeal: According to MIT research, carbohydrates can help the brain make serotonin, the same substance regulated by antidepressants. So don't cut carbs, just opt for slow digesting complex carbs like oatmeal. Oatmeal is also high in the amino acid tryptophan which helps produce serotonin, the chemical that regulates hunger and feelings of happiness and content.

2. Salmon: When you're stressed, it ramps up the levels of adrenaline and cortisol in your body. The omega-3 fatty acids in foods like salmon have anti inflammatory properties hat may help counteract this. There is also significant science backing correlating high omega 3 intake with lower levels of anxiety.

3. Green tea: Green tea (decaf or regular) contains properties that help lower stress and anxiety. Green tea also contains the amino acid theanine which promotes relaxation.

4. Sweet potatoes: Root veggies like sweet potatoes are dense in antioxidants which fight off the free radicals that form as a result of stress. The natural sweetness also helps reduce the urge you'll have to consume high sugared comfort foods. Drizzle sweet potatoes with some raw honey for added antioxidants and sweetness or coconut oil.

5. Walnuts: Walnuts, like salmon, are dense in omega 3 fatty acids, but they're also rich in selenium which not only contributes to stabilizing your mood and warding off stress, but also helps internally fight inflammation.

Some people say that learning a new #language requires talent, which is then often immediately turned into an excuse as to why they don’t bother making the effort because supposedly they don’t have that ‘feeling for languages’. I don’t buy that.  I think anyone can learn a new language, as long as they put in the hours. As boring as it sounds, it’s not a super-brain that gets you there, it’s cramming in vocabulary and grammar rules and after covering the basics, exercise, exercise, exercise and then repeat.

What does help a little bit is a good memory. One of the most frustrating situations I’ve personally experienced when learning a new language is finding myself in a conversation with a native speaker, and then blanking out on the most basic words. But, as an optimist would have it, there’s a solution to every problem. As a language #graduate with unfortunately not the best memory in the world, I have resorted to all kinds of little #tricks to make the words stick.

Some of my fellow students would just read a vocabulary chapter a couple of times, and that would suffice. Others needed to speak the words out loud to remember. I’ve personally always had the need to write them down. Since I still had trouble remembering sometimes, I wrote them down on little flash cards, so I could pull them out later and repeat. It sounds a bit silly, and it’s a lot of work, but it did pay off in the end. Of course these days there are also a lot of apps you can download that can help you practice your #vocabulary, like #Memrise or #Duolingo, so no need to do it the old fashioned way like I did.
If all else fails, apparently some foods can actually boost your #memory, like salmon and walnuts. I have no idea if it actually works, but it’s worth the try, right?

I have been experiencing the symptoms like crazy so I have done some research and want to share how I regulated my Hormones and am minimising the symptoms! PMS has a bad reputation with good reason. Bloating, headaches, pimples, moodiness — experiencing any of these symptoms can throw off ya whole day!
But the best defence is good offence!
Here are some ideas to help:
Grilled Salmon, Fortified Eggs, and Chia Seeds Omega-3s - Mood booster. They can function like an anti depressant.
Wheat Berry, Quinoa, and Popcorn. Alleviate your short temper with complex carbohydrates. These boost serotonin, the feel-good hormone.
Bananas - contains melatonin - a sleep aid hormone that's secreted at night and helps regulate our body's natural circadian rhythm.
Spinach, kale, dark leafy greens - Hormonal acne.

Vitamin D is so very important for our immune system as it has the ability to modulate the innate and adaptive immune responses. Therefore, when we become deficient in Vitamin D we are more susceptible to infection, a diathesis and autoimmunity

Vitamin D is a nice juicy fat-soluble vitamin. What does this mean? It means it has the ability to travel into your blood circulation and is stored in your tissues and your kidney where it is then converted to its 'activated' form known as Calcitriol.

Vitamin D promotes the homeostasis of calcium which promotes strong bone health. Vitamin D has the ability to enhance the absorption of calcium in the small intestine and it also enhances the mineralisation of the collagen matrix in the bone

Vitamin D in some eyes can be recognised as more of a hormone than a vitamin, as its the only Vitamin that can be made inside the body, how cool is that!

Want to make a tasty gourmet meal for your swole mate? Well .... Darling tonight we have lovely Tomato & Herb Pasta cooked with our delicious macro friendly seasoning and @bulkpowders high protein pasta.
To make the sauce - sauté veggies of your choice in a little @lucybeecoconut oil for 5-7 mins. We used onions, thinly sliced carrots, fine beans, mushrooms and peppers. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a heap spoon of our tomato and herb macro friendly seasoning. Cook for another 5-8mins until the sauce thickens slightly. Drain the pasta and add to the sauce. Grate a little a reduce fat cheese on top and you’re all set! 👌

Ingredients:
- About 4 cups watermelon (1 liter)
- 1 cup tomatoes (2.5 dl)
- 1 cup cucumber (2.5 dl)
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 bell pepper - Juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/2 cup of scallions or red onion
- Hot chili flakes, a pinch, more of you like heat!
- Sea salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: 1/2 cup cilantro (1 dl)

~ Super hydrated skin❗
Since I'm eating so much more voluminous meals, and vegetables have lots of water within their structure, our bodies use it in a different way from simply drinking water, and hydrate us even more. ~ Less bloat❗
I used to get really bloated after my meals, especially after eating eggs. As I am slowly adding more beans & legumes to my diet, I do experience some bloat when I eat lentils or regular beans, but chickpeas, black beans & fava beans sit totally fine with me! I've also included more fermented foods. .

I cannot really explain this, but I have more energy throughout the whole day. Before, I used to be super energetic until around 6 pm and then I would feel like my battery is getting pretty low. Now, I feel that way right before bed. .

I love to cook, but sometimes, due to the busy lives we lead, I used to just be concerned with intaking enough protein for the day so I would simply have some chicken or salmon with some veggies and call it a day. Now, I need to think even more about everyday's meals, and it gets me super excited. For super busy weeks, I get my @sakaralife 3 or 5-day order, and for others I browse through different recipes (loving @avantgardevegan and @plantlab) or create my own 💕 .

Due to the pollution and uncleanliness of fish farms, fish should no longer be considered a health food as it contains a significant amount of persistent organic pollutants (POPs), dioxins, poly-chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorine pesticides, polybrominated biphenyl ethers, as well as heavy metals which include methylmercury, lead, and cadmium -all of which negatively affect human health. Farmed Atlantic salmon have actually been found to be the worst source of PCBs having the highest total number of toxins, with 23 of 25 measured compounds detected. Other foods contaminated with PCBs include dairy, hamburger meat, and poultry.
Contrary to popular belief, it’s been shown that in middle-aged and elderly women and exposure to PCBs from foods was associated with a 67% increased risk of total stroke and an almost three-fold higher risk of haemorrhagic stroke.
It turns out that the previously thought benefits of fish, like the healthy fats, are completely negated by their negative traits which studies have stated conclusively.

On top of this, when cognitive decline is studied, we find that there is no difference between those who supplement with omega fats and those who don’t. Of the 6 most prominent studies on the subject, 4 showed no difference, 1 showed an improvement, and the last showed a decline which then leads us to believe that omega supplements are indeed unnecessary. The only people who should be taking an omega supplement are pregnant women, but even then, a supplement derived from algae (which is where fish get there DHA and EPA from in the first place) is much safer and more beneficial. *Sorry for the long post - I just like researching things*

It goes a little like this: I first prioritize a high-quality protein so I can hit my daily protein goals! Protein is most satiating and prevents unnecessary between meal snacking, but more importantly it’s absolutely vital to supporting healthy muscles and other tissues and it’s necessary to our hormones. In this case it is crispy skinned wild caught sockeye salmon. Often it’s a nice cut of grass-fed / grass-finished beef or lamb. I’m also big fan of crispy skinned chicken thighs. I of course love to get in lots of colorful nutrient-dense veggies. Here it was romaine lettuce, baby kale and baby spinach. I then add additional fat to my meals as necessary, to satiation – that varies by meal and by day. Here I added a gigantic dollop of tahini lemon dressing (not pictured). Many times it’s 1/2 an avocado or extra olive oil, maybe some macadamia or pili nuts, coconut flakes etc!


To fill out and boost my meals and to keep it fun and tasty, I assess my week and day for nutrients / check in with how I’m feeling and be sure to get more of what I know I need and what my body wants. Here it was iodine from the nori. Sometimes it’s broccoli sprouts for the sulforaphane, other times it’s things like Brazil nuts for the selenium. You get the picture. If I add additional carbs like sweet potato, squash or fruit, that’s dependent on my activity level or if I’m feeling I want or need it.


Finally, sometimes I choose foods straight up just for colors, like these roasted red peppers or crunch, like the spicy sprouted pumpkin seed mix.

But it wasn’t always like that. Before going low-carb I used to eat three regular meals, plus a few snacks every day. The truth is that most people who follow a low-carb diet naturally eat less and also less often, typically twice a day. ⠀

So if you practice intermittent fasting like myself, just make sure that your meals are nutritious and provide enough protein. That's one of the reasons I don't recommend drinking "bulletproof coffee" every day. It may be quick and convenient but apart from fats it's low in micronutrients and protein. It may also stall your progress if you are trying to lose weight.⠀

This all-day breakfast skillet for two ticks all the boxes. It's tasty, quick and easy to make. It's high in healthy fats and nutrients, especially magnesium, potassium and calcium. Sometimes I'd sub the sausages with bacon, smoked salmon or mackerel just to get some heart-healthy omega 3 fats. I also like to serve it with fermented veggies such as sauerkraut or kimchi which are great for gut health. Apart from asparagus and spinach, you can use any non starchy vegetables like collards, chard or kale. If you can do dairy you can sub the avocado with crumbled feta. Finally, I used my Golden Ghee for extra anti-inflammatory boost but you can use regular ghee or olive oil. What’s the first meal you have?😍⠀

Avocados have mono-unsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats and saturated fats are the two best predictors of high testosterone when it comes to fats so that is why you should eat avocados.
Why Brazil nuts?

Brazil nuts Brazil nuts have zinc. Zinc is very, very crucial for testosterone production because the receptor that testosterone sits o, it attaches too while it is inside the cell and is being transported the fingers of that receptor which are necessary for the receptor to work - they are made out of zinc.

A flavorful baby purée packed with tons of nutrients like iron, omega 3's and not to mention that plant foods like butternut squash are packed with high amounts of both vitamin C and beta-carotene which offer an immunity boost from their powerful combination of nutrients. Let's go over what I eat on a typical Sunday in order to replenish glycogen & boost metabolism.

I cook 250g White Rice, 150 White Quinoa, 150g Red Quinoa in 300ml Homemade Beef Broth and 450ml Water, with 2g Himalayan Salt and 2g Iodized Table Salt.
This gives me about 400g carbs, which I spread over 3 meals with the following protein/fat sources;
Meal 1: 8 Eggwhites, 2 Whole
Meal 2: 200g Sirloin Beef
Meal 3: 175g Atlantic Salmon
I cover 50% of the required insulin with Humalog (1iu per 20g carbs) Yes, there is some overlap with 4hr Humalog as I'm eating every 2,5 hours, never had a problem as the dose is relatively low compared to the carbs consumed each meal.

That's usually enough to kickstart my metabolism, body temperature goes up and I'm starting to fill out. Then it's time to switch to "cheat" foods;
Meal 4: 3 S&P Donuts with Protein Shake
Meal 5: Marriot Renaissance Buffet (we spend about 2,5 hours sampling the selection of food, I ate about double of what I'm showing)

Later in the evening I check my Bloodsugar levels, 2 hours post buffet it was at 127mg/dL. Felt I could have some more carbs and ate 2 Mango's for Meal 6.

Sunday morning I woke up at 106.0kg, this morning I was 107.1kg, looking leaner with tighter lower back. That's exactly what you want to happen, minor weight gain and proper redistribution of water (due to glycogen storage)

Honestly it feels like a job shoveling all this food in on Sunday. But that's what it takes to fill out enough to sustain 10-12 workouts in the 6 days between refeeds.

My goal is to stay over 105kg while I slowly recomposition into 6% bodyfat. It takes a few months, but doesn't really feel like you're on a tough restrictive diet. Slow & Steady progress until you wake up Shredded 😁 @ Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel

For those who wonder how i lost all the weight over the last 10 months, i eat... A LOT... but i space my meals into tiny portions of 5-7 meals throughout the day. I also make sure i get a lot of proteins and vegetables before i even touch my rice. Proteins and healthy fat keeps me full for longer so if you notice i always have meat, fish (especially salmon) and eggs on my plate. If i do have rice, the kuah cannot be all luncun anymore (and after a while i actually enjoy eating a drier meal) and i only drink my water after i am done with my meal not whilst having it and i space out 3 litres a day. I also eat slower these days, stopping to regularly touch base with my body as to whether it has had enough to eat. So i pause for about 5 minutes during meals to let the body make up its mind whether it is full or can use another bite. I walk and move about a lot too as is well documented in my IG but the main difference is changing my eating habits. Making small changes to the way i eat, the food choices i make and what i put into my body at which time has allowed me to boost up my metabolic rate yet still continue to be a foodie who enjoys food.
