Fiberglass visited us for a month. Then, the ortho team decided to say it goodbye. Uncle Vishu is in great Joy, he is very eager to move on to the next stage. Unfortunately, this is the biggest mistake the team has made. This is a tibia/fibula open, distal comminuted fracture. The broken bones where left in place to re-grow with only 'antenna' support. They should have gotten a closer look at the lateral xray view, instead of only an AP view, prior to the decision. Probably give it more time to re-grow due to the mechanism of injury. They even advised for partial weight bearing after the cast is removed. That day, the cast was removed and it is replaced by a backslab for support, patient is happy. We were also relieved that his healing has sped up so quickly, never would we have thought that the bones are not ready yet. We brought uncle Vishu for physio the following day for partial weight bearing exercise. He followed the instructions and did well. He did complaint of some pain during/after the exercise, but we didn't put much thoughts into it, because the pain is bearable, so it is normal to feel pain during the exercise. To our horror his leg was misaligned the following day. It is crocket, red and swollen. Uncle Vishu doesn't want to return to the hospital that day due to some reason which I couldn't recall, so I checked his pulses and sensation. Thank God it is strong and positive. The next day, it was friday, we brought him to ED to get an xray. As usual, the queue takes forever. Following the xray report, we were summoned for an admission but we negotiated to be admitted the following day. Thank God they approved of it, we could even bypass the line and get admitted directly. This will never happen in my previous work place. We prayed for a good outcome this admission. -to be continue-
