Their house shares a wall with my daughters house and luckily nobody got hurt. You can see it in the next slide.
So, I instantly called Boundary 44 to come and inspect all our smoke alarms. Ron and Randy came out in one day and replaced them all - they were all over 10 years old. Don't procrastinate on replacing your smoke detectors - they do expire and stop working. Boundary 44 is offering a FREE Smoke Alarm Inspection & battery replacement in their coupon on page 31 in Red Bee Press.

I am who I am today because Mr. Nderu has been the most fantastic human!
My favourite human raised me, watched over me, protecting me through everything the 90's and early 2000's threw at me, my father has raised so many children, when we were growing up there was always someone at the house that he was ensuring was okay that wasn't a sibling, my fantastic Dad is the epitome of you give without ever expecting to receive whatever kindness you extended. When I called to wish him a happy Dad's day he was shy about it as always😁 My favorite humans existence is being celebrated today🙌🏽 HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS WHO ARE DAD'S TOO! AND TO THE MUM'S THAT PLAY BOTH PARTS ❤
Fun facts about my Dad;
He loves cars, he owns a garage and can literally dismantle a car and rebuild it from scratch.
He is extremely kind.
He loves seafood and chilli too! (That's where I got it from!)
He loves docker pants and striped or square print shirts.
He insists on watching the news at 7 and 9 even though most of the time it's the same information.
He believes education changes lives.
He is as old school as they come but strives to be futuristic too. His love for technology makes me so happy!
Speaking of 😂 his current phone number used to be mine but the guy I was dating when I owned it called at 10pm and my father did not see why any human would call his daughter so late so he took my Nokia 8210 and its number as his own. Yes my parents actually bought us phones as they enjoyed the landline which I could see my Dad pick up sometimes to see whom we were speaking to.
His idea of fun always involves fixing a car, buying spare parts or grilling nyama choma for guests from our dover or grill and travelling but mostly at night.
He enjoys farming too.
We grew up with over 22 dogs and way more cats, turkeys, cows, sheep, goat and bees.
He has way toooo many leather jackets.
He never pressures any of us to get married.
The only boyfriend who will ever meet him will be the man that marries me.
Did I mention he is way tooo kind and wayyyyyy too forgiving!
Basically he is perfect!❤

As a young girl, I did not realize how hard and unfair life was for women in the very patriarchal society I grew up in, because I was lucky enough to be raised as a child and not as a daughter or as a girl by my parents. I despised Women’s Day because I used to consider that it was only another occasion for ignorant men to remind us how inferior they thought we were. Thanks to what I do, I realize that there is still so much to do until equal rights and freedom becomesa reality for all women. Today Women’s Day reminds me that I must remain vigilant to protect my and other women’s rights, and angry for all the women who struggle and suffer. In this picture taken during an assignment for Marie Stopes in #madagascar: A #portait of Clotile Hantamalala, 43 y.o. in her house in Antananarivo. She is still married but has not been supported by her husband for years. She a mother of 3 children aged 17, 15 and 9. She started to use contraception after giving birth to her first child, but had to commute for 2 hours to reach the closest health center where she could get affordable contraception, making it a challenge. As a consequence, she got pregnant two more times, was unable to keep a job, and struggled for years to make ends meet as a mother of 3. For five years, she has been able to access free contraception from the doctor of her neighborhood thanks to a voucher programme financed by Marie Stopes. But again, her reproductive rights are threatened today because the Trump Administration issued an order, the “Mexico City Policy”, which strips foreign nongovernmental organizations of all US health funding if they use funds from any source to offer information about abortions, provide abortions, or advocate liberalizing abortion laws. Although Marie Stopes does not provide abortion to Malagasy women, as it remain illegal in the country, the loss of USAID funding has forced Marie Stopes to shut down its voucher programme, which allowed low-income women like Clotilde to get contraceptives for free at private clinics and leaving them helpless. #womenshealth #womensrights #womensrightsarehumanrights #womensday #photojo

I know Father’s Day was yesterday but my kids clown me all the time about how I “knock out” verses “go to sleep”. My daughter got me really good when she texted me these photos yesterday. Photo #1: I was knocked out on my couch with my phone still in my hand, hustlin’ in my sleep. Photo #2: I had just driven to her home in Las Vegas and was knocked out on HER couch. What is it with me and couches?? Photo #3 proves that she gets hers in just like me. As a baby, she’s sleeping in the exact same position I’m in (zoom in on the left of the photo). But I HAD to share photo #4 for the fun of it. I’m trying to “get some sugar” (old 70’s slang, lol) and she’s trying to look into the camera and pose for the photo! However, she gets the last laugh... check out all that ground beef on my chest, looking like some taco meat! 🤣😂🤣😂 FATHERS, if your kids don’t clown you and you’re not the butt of every joke in the house, then you’re not doin’ somethin’ right. Thank you Mari. Though I’m away in Poland for my Father’s Day, you and your brother still made me feel special and appreciated, as though I was there with you two. #IHaveTwoOfTheBestKidsInTheWorld

On Mother’s Day, people around the world devote the day to the women who brought them into this world. In truth, we should honor moms every day of the year for their incredible feats. Bringing life into the world and raising healthy, happy children is no easy task. More than 800 women and girls die every single day of pregnancy- or childbirth-related complications and each day more than 7,000 newborn babies fail to make it through their 24 hours in the world. Many, if not most, of these deaths are preventable. These stunning portraits, taken by award-winning photographer Ilvy Njiokiktjien in partnership with UNICEF, show mothers and babies from around the world whose lives have been changed by access to life-saving resources like breathing masks and counseling support for new mothers. Here, mom Celia Virginia Flores Mamani, 37, holds her seven-day-old baby daughter, Priscilla Solamita Meza Flores, who was born at the health center in Yaurisque District, Paruro Province, Peru. Priscilla was born via a cesarean section because her mother lives with epilepsy. Thanks to the assistance of a skilled midwife and a mama wasi (a “mother house”) where her mother could rest before the birth, Priscilla survived. @lafayettevillage Is walkable from my house and I bought this quote @stufnsuch123 as an early Mother’s Day gift to me. I’ve got one millennial and one Gen Z daughter and one husband. You only need one of the latter, right?
I ❤️social media and publishing photos on this platform @annette.shope .
We’ve relocated a ton -Pittsburgh, Pasadena, San Francisco, Charlotte, and North Raleigh. Can’t pick a favorite, please don’t make me. .
There’s freshly brewed coffee aroma coming ☕️ from my monochromatic kitchen, so I’m going get me a cup before I head out for the day.

June 30th 2018 • Olivia’s Day • my niece • the bright spark who’s light warms but also lights up the world with energy and unlimited possibility. She is the closest I will have to a biological daughter and for this im so truly honoured and grateful. When Olivia was born we met at the airport in Sydney for the first time at 9 months old, she, cradled in her mother Jessica’s arms, turned, locked eyes with me (a stranger) and immediately put her arms up and sprung into my arms. I knew she saw right into my eyes and knew I was her family. From that day on I would watch as she grew and became a person who saw the world in a 360 degree view. Olivia has always been curious, very kind and thoughtful in a way that one would only expect from a wise elder. Her ability to see a whole view of all situations has simply blown me away. There is a spirit in her eyes, her intense attention to detail and her young yet worldly view of everything. She has marched the White House steps in DC a few times now at age 11 & 12, and in the same day crafted an artwork, sewn needlepoint and read a book on becoming a high court justice in the supreme court. Its now that I sit and thank my lucky stars that the Olivia I know and love steps into her young adulthood, an awakened consciousness that began at a young age but now can flourish in a real sense. I also love that she has both US & Australian passports making it that bit easier to visit (when im
old and grey and still wearing sequin pants and red lipstick in the cool old age home), but more than this I know she will go on to change the world. Living in the US in these times in DC has given her a purpose and voice, a 360 degree view of where its at and where it needs to be. I have no doubt that where ever life takes her, her intelligence, warmth, kindness, spirit, 360 degree view and spark to change what needs changing will absolutely take place. What I love is that last night at dinner Olivia said auntie Dani when I take over as US CEO of DAN300 global I also want to design, ive already got some ideas, we need to have a meeting, to which I said, yes absolutely ‘but how are you going to run the world & DAN300 at once’? Post a selfie, tell us about yourself and use the hashtags #fivethingsaboutme and #missingmarket.
Let’s get started! I’m Kate. Born and raised in Indiana, I now call Ohio home. I made my first quilt in 2013 for my daughter’s second birthday, and nearly five years later, I can’t imagine life without this wonderful (and practical!) skill. A little bit about me:

1. I’m a graphic designer by trade. For more than a decade, I’ve worked with many, many wonderful clients, including Wendy’s, the DC Lottery, Marzetti and National Geographic.
2. I’m a small business owner. 👊 My husband and I are officially launching our design agency @copilotsdesign in late summer, and WE. ARE. PUMPED! Oh, and I’m majority-owner. So yeah. Girl boss. 💪

3. I’m totally #missingmarket but hope to change that one day soon. Between starting a business, being a mama, and trying to post quilty photos each day, I’ve been working on illustrating a fabric line. Several, to be exact. It’s time-consuming and hard work, so props to you designers out there. But it’s also crazy-fun and a bit of a natural fit given my background. Now I just need to get my foot (or at least a toe!) in the door with a manufacturer. #hireme 😉😂.
4. In my free time, I’m an avid reader. Mysteries and memoirs are my faves these days. I also love to cook and make a mean chicken pot pie. I’d say I like gardening, but I’d like it more if it didn’t involve sweat and bugs. 😁

5. My husband and I have long dreamed about visiting all of the national parks. We talk often of building a tiny house or buying an RV and taking our little family on the road for weeks at a time. With a small business that we can take on-the-go, it’s totally possible. We’re planning our first trip later this year. Do you have a favorite national park?
Okay, it’s your turn now! I’d love to learn more about you. Be sure to tag me, @gogokim and @thesewingloft.

We just weren't gaining the mother/daughter connection.
We fought more than an old married couple, and I wasn't understanding why. Why did I feel like I was the only one who didn't go to mom for advice? Why we couldn't hold a conversation on the phone, because agreeing on anything was never a thing. Why did I live 30 mins away from her house, for three years, and saw her maybe 4 times?
And so I realized...that at 18, moving out was only my decision, because I wanted freedom. I wanted to live a different life. A life I thought I was ready for. So I spent the rest of my teen years, and early 20s, supporting and loving a family that just became mine. I was an 18 year old mother to two beautiful girls. (3 & 8 years old)
It took my mom at least 2 years to accept the lifestyle I chose. She was a mother of two at 19. So I had to get it. I had to find a way to understand, because the amount of times I was frustrated with the situation, I could've been gaining memories, love, and growth. I would get so mad, thinking that my mom and I would never be best friends.
I'm a soft ass gentle Libra, and she is the not so gentle, keep it real Capricorn. It just ain't happening.
So this year I'm looking at my life in a different perspective. Well, I kinda have to, because my life right now, is completely different than 3 months ago.
Today I'm accepting to let go, be free, and take care of my well-being.
I'm bringing it back to the old days, where family BBQs were a thing, and a home visit was just fine. Where my brother was my go to, and my sister was my hold up.
I'm accepting the fact that on this very day, I won't get a "Happy Mother's Day". I'm accepting that I had kids, not have kids. I'm accepting to let it all go. I've been torching myself, by expecting so much out of nothing. Expecting so much out of life, and being smacked in the face with fire. There's no accepting the reality, until reality shows you, that nothing or anyone can stop it, but you.
So cheers to my reality. Cheers to a new start. A revised connection, and most of all, a lot of love from me to my mom.
I love you with my whole heart.
Happy Mother's Day mom!! 👗👒🖤

I woke up today and still can’t believe we are here .... 32 weeks and a few more to go. This journey has been life changing and today I am filled with many overwhelming emotions. I remember last Mother’s Day being one of the worst days that I can recall that year. Just coming off my second miscarriage and seeing all the families celebrating their mom made me so sad. I cried all day and could not leave the house because all I wanted was that and at that moment it seemed like it would never happen. So today ... if you are one of those “mamas in the making” remember you will always be a mama because it’s already in your ❤️. It’s often hard to see the light but remember the morning sun always comes up. And lastly to my daughter I love you to the moon and back. 🌙Xx Nat

Dear Mama,

Though today is a day to honor our mothers and celebrate them. I want you to know I celebrate you EVERYDAY. It took me 27 years to move out, not a day goes by where I don’t miss that warm house, where it’s always clean and always had food on the table. You and dad have always given me everything I ever needed, desired or begged for.. you are selfless, caring and such a loyal mother who has always wanted the best for her children. How blessed I have been to have lived with you for as long as I did, because I have gotten to witness what genuine love is. So many people give up on love, their kids, or themselves, but you and dad have been the BEST example of what unconditional love is and what good hard work can do for a lasting relationship. With time flying by, besides me trying to continue to do what makes me happy.. my biggest priority is to make sure you and dad are happier. Mom you must know that you are the most kindest, forgiving and beautiful woman I know and I pray that when it’s my turn to have children I can take on all the wonderful traits you possess. I didn’t get to choose my mother, nor father.. but I am always so grateful God made it so that I could be your daughter. I love you mom, thank you for never giving up on me. As I will never give up on you. Cheers to another Mother’s day my queen.

My daughter is getting married tomorrow on St. Patrick’s Day, and we’re having a small reception at our house afterwards for extended family. I had this “Love” banner that I used last month from @homeloveclub and decided to reuse it. I replaced the flowers with shamrocks to go with the theme. I’m pretty sure that nobody in the history of the universe ever has had a St. Patrick’s Day banner that says “Love”.😂 That just isn’t something you normally associate with that day, maybe lucky? That would’ve worked too. I just didn’t have a lucky banner lying around. ☘️ #stpatricksdaywedding #homeloveclub #homeloveprintableclub #homelovenetwork

My ancient future look by @maiwahandprints Excited for tomorrow’s Deep House Jam at @ramainstitute in Venice. Here’s 5 things i am musing on right now. 💎
1. Daily Meditation practise is so good for new parents. Sneak them in any chance you can get, you know when your baby falls asleep on the drive, pull over and enjoy the silence with a moment of meditation. I’ve been doing Kirtan Kriya thanks to a story that @radianecandritual shared about it. 🙏🏽
💎
2. This is for my #newparent friends and busy #entrepreneurs If you ever have any problems with sleep try taking a magnesium supplement at night. It’s been a game changer for my sleep and everyday energy. 💎
3. Expressive Early Morning writing has been super healing for me lately. Getting out the immense amount of ideas that I have out of my mind and onto paper has had me show up for my baby Soleil and life so much more. I’m at ease, my nervous system is calmer and I’m not chomping at the bits to get back online. 💎
4. Something @gurujagat said in a talk recently really has been ringing in my mind lately. It’s the modern day version of “Do or do not, there is no try” by yoda. She said something like there is never not enough resources, there is not enough command. For me this rings so true, if you look back at your life the things that you really had no tolerance for not having you made happen. Take command of your attention and mind, clearly direct your day to day actions and choices, amplify your frequency with your meditation practise and excel. You got this. 💎
5. Being somewhat of a entrepreneur goal getter, my 19 month daughter Soleil has taught me is importance of playtime without phones and technology nearby. It’s been such a great practise leaving the phone behind in the car and away from us when we are not working. I’m finding the less screen time I give myself on the daily the less chaotic my life feels. Less phone time = Less stressed out.

All we talk about is baby stuff, from prams to breast pumps to sleeping bags to armpit hair (which was topic of conversation today at Mother’s Day bunch 😜) to wondering how on earth you do ANYTHING with TWINS. Get from car to house? No idea. Breastfeed? Ha! Also, I have managed to forget everything about babies since I had my last almost 5 years ago, all I learnt from Dr Spock and Penelope Leach and that awful What to Expect When You’re Expecting is gone, along with the pain of childbirth. So I read this gem of a book in one go, written by a mama who has had all the children all the ways. Bec drops F bombs, gives anecdotes, personal experience and best of all ‘interruptions’ from professionals she has had the good fortune to meet along the way. Legends like @shirakramerwhphysio give practical advice on how to take care of your pelvic floor and @midwifecath dishes on feeding and how to wrap your squirmy little darling(s). It’s a super practical, super entertaining read full of really valuable tips and advice to prepare you for pregnancy and beyond, excellent for first time mums and for those of us who have forgotten everything in between bumps 😜 Happy Mother’s Day to all you gorgeous mamas out there, I hope you had a loved up day and that your children behaved beautifully 🤞🏻 #thebabybible #becjudd @becjudd @allenandunwin @midwifecath @shirakramerwhphysio #thelittlebookcollector #bookstagram #babybooks #mothersday

Well, I missed a day so I could find this card and take a picture of the back. I got home from my older daughter's house yesterday and the I admit the grandkids wore me out a bit.
On to the Postcard - this is Day Three of "Ferries, Steamships & Day Trippers". This is from the Steamship Company Carsjens at Leiden. "To spread gratis" it says. On the back it has basic information on the "watertrips" and it says to get railway and steamer tickets through the Holland Railway Company.
This is a card that you could send from the boat - advertising and friendly greeting in one! I'm not sure of the years these boats plied the rivers in and around the Netherlands, but you can still take river cruises all over Europe, both Day Trippers such as this 4 hour cruise, or longer cruises with luxurious accommodations.

I hope you've enjoyed this theme. Please join me again for a new theme tomorrow.

NOTE: I'd like to start processing orders this week that have been waiting, and even to get some long promised stamps off. My next show is April 21st so I can process orders and postcards at the same time. If we've discussed a possible order or you've asked me to buy something then I'll be sending a Direct Message. If you don't see one please feel free to send me one! If you've asked me to save something I pulled it before my recent shows!
If it's an order that we want to do in person then let's schedule it for after April 21st!

Being born a girl in this world today, means being surrounded by strong and powerful women and being inspired by the dozens of phenomenal women who have come before us. I'm excited for Francesca - to see who and what she becomes with so many doors open to her.

I am forever thankful for the women who have opened doors for me. For my family, my mom, my grandmothers, my girlfriend, my aunts, my sister-in-Law and my cousins and friends. I'm thankful @alvernoheights taught me to be a influential feminist before it was cool.
I am also thankful to the men in my life who made me feel infinitely capable or challenged me to stand up for myself. If you swipe, you will see my brother holding his baby girl, Francesca. Brushing her hair, talking to her, in awe of her. You will see him - being the best version of himself, a supportive, inspirational dad. It is because of men like him that Francesca will know no limits. Her dad, like mine, although extra protective of his daughter, will never let being a girl stop her from running a company or playing a competitive sport.
Cheers to you Francesca, cheers to you and all the other baby girls who will grow up in a world that we hope is filled with open doors and big dreams. Who knows, maybe Francesca will be President one day, not the first female president, because I expect that will happen soon 😉, but none the less, maybe I will visit her in the White House one day, because it no longer feels impossible. Happy International Women's Day!

They say words can't explain the best things in the world and I find it very true. This woman right here has been the best mother my daughter could of possibly had. Although we not together, don't think you go unappreciated, I notice how you have infinite patience for her, how you go out your way all the time to bring her to her grandparents house, how despite not having the best financial status you still get her all the clothes she can have and it's not cheap stuff, lol, how you work everyday and still have time and energy to still clean, cook and play with her every single night, how you always find a way to have her into some sort of activity. I wouldn't be able to raise my daughter on my own, I wouldn't be able to do all those things like you do. And that's why I want to tell you today, happy Mother's Day to the best mother. Love you

We saved the best for last! Shelley, DIME'S owner, told us about the Origin of the DIME Store, the Origin of Origins.
"How my life became central to the origin of DIME is beyond what I ever dreamed or expected. After being a full-time mom for 22 years, I dreamt of a creative career, something that would keep my hands busy with my children grown.
In 2010, my husband, Vaughan and I started Home Again, Home Again, a home furnishings and decor brand. It was through that creative endeavor that I met other local creatives including Rachel Aughtry of Rachel Elise.
In 2013, 5 days before my eldest daughter’s wedding I ‘randomly’ attended a creatives mixer that city councilman Kevin Roden was hosting at Oak Street Draft House. Kevin asked us to do what we could to encourage Denton’s creative economy. That thought ruminated over the next 24 hours into the thought that a brick and mortar store was how what was currently Etsy Denton could encourage the creative economy. Etsy Denton had started from a few Etsy sellers at the inaugural season of the Denton Community market. The little group had successfully hosted 4 handmade markets and we were gaining momentum as an avenue for local makers to share their art and handmade goods with their neighbors. The day after the mixer, Rachel came to my home to help with some crafting for my daughters wedding, and she too felt the movement to open a brick and mortar store to showcase our amazing local makers all year round. We had seen how our community supported the little group of makers at the bi-annual shows and we had a hunch they would support a brick and mortar…….we were right!
We changed the name of our group of makers to DIME (Denton Independent Maker Exchange) and from that October day in 2012 until we opened the door of The DIME Store on the First Friday of April 2013 we dreamed and hustled to create a handmade marketplace for our creative community to thrive.

If there was a glass ceiling that I smashed through, I did so unwittingly. I was just chasing, dreaming, working, relentlessly. Being a woman was never part of the professional narrative in my imagination. But in that I know I am fortunate. I stand on the shoulders of generations of kick-ass women. My maternal grandmother found herself a young divorced woman with three small daughters. She removed the sign on the front door of her apartment that bore her husband’s name and in a then controversial move hammered in a big gold plaque with only HER name. This was her house and her life. Despite no previous work experience, she went on to become one of the first female and one of the most highly sought after directors in Egypt, laying the foundation for our television industry and winning countless awards including being honored by two consecutive Presidents. My mother has fought men, institutions and impossibilities to realize her ambitions or to kick down any hurdles that have ever been put in her family’s way. Mine is a familial legacy of men who stood by and for their women. My paternal grandfather insisted he bring up his only daughter’s young children while she pursued her PhD. My father has spent every day of his life filling my head with outsized dreams and along with them the firm belief that if I work hard enough, and get up every single morning and fight, there is nothing that is unattainable. So for me, it was easy, it was obvious. BUT there are women out there who truly defy the odds, who must imagine, on their own, stories they have never been told. It is to THEM that, this #InternationalWomensDay, @mo4network, dedicates #شغل_نسوان . Share the hashtag and own your story...

Just have to keep reminding myself to breath. I have no control over anything in this existence. I have no control over peoples hate filled hearts. What I do have control over is how I react to awful things that happen. How I can heal from them. How I grow. How I teach my daughter. How I can hopefully teach others. Find someone today, a stranger, a friend.. and say something meaningful and nice. The love you can spread just might change somebody’s day. That person may have been feeling awful inside and may have lost light or hope within themselves. Maybe you changed someone’s life. Or maybe you just made them smile. The world needs more smiles and hugs and love and laughter. Throw on a wig and dance around in your house. Do handstands or skip to your next destination. Be silly and don’t care what people think..your energy will make someone laugh and FEEL. I’m so tired of feeling scared. I can only try my best to keep my rainbow bubble filled with positivity. Cutting out the negativity in my life has helped my spiritual journey so much. What’s yours? Find it.. it helps!! And maybe yours is reading more books or learning to swim or sing or write love letters or bake or eat more chocolate or take a good poo every morning.. who knows but find it. Connect with it and explore it more! Be in peoples dreams. Try and send your spiritual body on a journey to someone else’s dreams. Maybe you can stop a nightmare. Who knows, the mind is a powerful thing. Sorry for the long rant I guess I was really feeling it inside. And no I’m not really sorry 🌈 #rainbows #rainbowseveryday

This is moment from my wedding day that I did not witness, for I was in a room alone, awaiting my processional song to begin. These are my parents, whom I love so very much. My mom emotional as she awaits her youngest daughter’s walk, my dad looking at her ever so lovingly. I will always remember sleigh bell rides on the farm, maple sugaring in the spring- the slushy snow beneath our boots. My dad’s morning voice & his slurping of coffee- three mugs full. My mom’s footsteps early in the morning. When I had the worst anxiety of my life my first year from home, I visited home and laid between them both, swaddled in blankets, like I was a little child again. My dad read his book like all times & my mom laid awake. We murmured over silly things. Our Hansel & Gretel House is a place where the changing of times doesn’t exist, where the scariness of life doesn’t intrude. I grew up so beautifully, and this wasn’t something I fully realized until recently. I love you, mom & dad. Thank you for everything you have instilled in me, for protecting me from the world, and letting me out into it. I want to share this with everyone. (shout out to @dylannn_rose ‘s mom for taking this.. tell her I love it so much!)

An American delegation, including President Trump’s daughter Ivanka, White House officials and major GOP donors officially opened the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem on Monday. The ceremony capped Trump's pledge to shift the embassy from Tel Aviv to offer diplomatic recognition to Israel’s claim of Jerusalem as its capital. But the backdrop underscored the repercussions unleashed by the decision. Near Jerusalem, at least two clashes broke out between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters and on the Gaza Strip border — deadly confrontations erupted on the bloodiest day during a wave of Palestinian protests against Israel’s blockade of the area. The largest demonstrations, which began Monday in the coastal enclave of Gaza, follow several weeks of unrest, and have resulted in dozens of Palestinians killed and more than 2,000 wounded. For many Israelis, the move of the embassy is a cause for huge celebration even though the shift was mostly symbolic. But Palestinians view it as a major betrayal of Washington’s decades-old role as a potential broker for a peace deal with Israel. Photo by Ronen Zvulun—@reuters

Yesterday I was so sad to miss a dear friend’s daughter’s birthday, but I was so icky sick.
Did you know that emotional upheavals will wreak havoc on your immune system? I had probably the hardest day in my parenting life on Friday, and my immune system bottomed out on me. 😔. Woke up Saturday AM with pressure in my throat that got worse by Sunday. I think if I hadn’t been out of my Elderberry Syrup, I would have kicked this thing before it got hold!

I sent Mina off with her daddy to the party yesterday, turned on Lord of the Rings (watch a movie during the daytime? Or at all?! 😂. Unheard of these days!), made some tea and food, and fired up a new batch of this amazing go-to Immune tonic that I learned how to make with the talented queen herablist, @stillroomatpitchpines 🙏🏼. I’d like to think the batches get better every time, and I think this one really is special. I smudged my house for the first time since we moved in (LONG freakin overdue) while she was sweetly simmering her own fragrant magic into the air. I used dried Elderberry, Cinnamon Sticks, Clove, Fresh Ginger, Honey and lots of Love.
I highly recommend Elderberry syrup when you’re feeling rundown, sick or even preventatively during the flu season.
She’s such a gem and my baby loves her because she tastes like candy! Use it with your babies too! There’s NOTHING like feeling pachamama (Mother Earth) energy supporting me when I’m sick. She’s soft, gentle, natural, and sweet. And engaging with her when I’m sick is like getting a warm hug and a kiss from mama.
What do you use that helps you when you’re sick or run down? 🌿 #elderberrysyrup #elderberry #earthmedicine #herbalmedicine #herbs #medicine #herbalism #stillroomatpitchpines #restorativeharmonyalchemy #restorativeharmony #restorativeharmonyacupuncture #mothernature #pachamama #ginger #honey #cinnamon #plantallies #greenfriends #fluprevention #flu

You are the most adorbs, psychotic, kawaii, evil, insane person I've ever met (besides Dynasty and I of course) You're awesome (but not as much as Prussia #sorrynotsorry but you're pretty damn close) and a true fangirl best friend. You're the Spain to my Prussia and Dynasty's France, the Italy to my Germany, the Eren to my Levi etc. Remember that time you brought like a dozen donuts to my house for Valentine's Day? Yeah I gained like ten freaking pounds. Thanks mah bish😘 You and I just went on my laptop and watched Free! for the first time and we died when we saw the shirtless gay af swimmers. Too bad they're gay af. Btw Haru's my boo. And Rei's your bæ. (Haha came up with that on the spot like the dumbass I am)
ANYWAY
I just want you to know that I love you, and that I'm really freaking pissed that you're older than me. But iM STILL TALLER THAN YOU.
ILY MY CHILD😘😻💕👅💦👽👑🙌💩🙊

I’m so thankful God blessed me with a friend for a mom. Through all my poor life decisions, you still loved me. You stayed up late helping me with my art projects. By helping I mean doing everything including adding rhinestones and glitter. You sewed all my crazy halloween and dance outfits even when they were probably too revealing for my age. You let me sneak my boyfriend in the house and cut school sometimes. damnnn maybe you did fail. OMG I’M TOTALLY KIDDING! I was always able to be honest with you and that is my favorite part about being your daughter. I can come to you about anything. We have grown so close over the years because you were always real with me. You have always supported me. Whenever I felt I wasn’t good enough, you showed me I could do anything! Whenever I broke my bones, you painted my casts to make me feel better. Whenever, I felt sad or lost, you knew the exact words to say to put me back on track. I love you so much mom! Thank you so much for absolutely everything you’ve done for me. I miss you so much and I wish I could spend this day with you. Now go get your nails done and nap as long as you want today. Happy best friend Day. I mean Merry Mom’s Day. or something like that...love ya!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ @tanirappp

All ready the year is nearly a quarter done. It send shivers down my spine when time seems to go by so fast. It is like, where has the time gone? It was only in 2005 that my little brother passed away due to leukemia. After that, it seemed that my family just fell apart. My father in 2009 and my mother in 2013. Sigh. Anywho, I did not mean to bring up this morbid topic. Today is a good day, even if I didn't win the lottery, hehe. Ahh, 500 million. Oh well. I must think about what I am going to do for the next year. GenCon, my friend's daughter's wedding are two things that I am looking forward to. I am looking at the three National Parks up in Washington state as well. We are looking for our next project house too. So much to do... *

Your story inspires me to be better than I was yesterday, work hard, be nice and to stand up for myself always. I love that you are constantly learning something new and impressed that you do a lot of things so very well. 😳Seriously! (Cooking, designing, creating, writing, planning, finances, etc.) You’re an entrepreneur, resourceful, kind, tremendously giving and a 6’2 Samoan when you get angry. You’re a fighter! After 37 yrs, I finally found out where that FIGHTER in me comes from... It’s YOU. Thank you for always laughing at all of my jokes and your continuous love for me... especially during those times when I was most unlovable. I know I’m a child that only a mother can love and dayum mama do you love me! 😂 I’m sorry I turned-out better at being handsome than pretty but I love that you just want me to be like Ellen now.😂 @theellenshow | Enjoy your day and I can’t wait for the next time we get to hang-out... movies, mother-daughter workday or family dinner at Filipino Martha Stewart’s House.❤️ | Picture: My mom trying to be rugged and haul wood while rocking her ginormous bougie ring. #OhStopItApril 😂

I get a metric butt-ton of questions about relationships. Probably just as many as I do about training and nutrition. So for today what I'm going to offer up is my own viewpoint based on why a lot of men and women are so depressed and frustrated with these particular areas. Unfortunately I have to venture into the wayback time machine for this, so don't hate me.
So for the longest time, how this generally worked was that the father, along with the help of other family members, determined if a man courting his daughter was fit to take her out from under his headship. I'm not just talking arranged marriages, but when boys had to become men by showing up to the house, knocking on the door, earning the respect of her family through congruent words and actions, and the ability to show his life had direction and meaning. You see this same parallel in Genesis. Adam was given WORK (not a JOB!) before he was given Eve. A life TASK. Not a job that could be taken away.
Similarly, families in the old days wanted to make sure before they allowed a man to marry their daughter that he had a vision, and was cultivating something to invite her into. He had to have direction about his life. We don't have those checks and balances in place now, so in reality it's really up to you ladies to discern this on your own.

The frustration that most women have about doods today is that they often lack vision and are poor leaders. It's about the ability to direct your life with authority.
Also, unfortunately, women often ask all the wrong questions. If a man loves you, you don't have to ask. You'll know. The right questions to ask, if you think this is a man you'd want to build a future with... 1. What is the vision for your life?
2. What will we be doing together?
3. How do these things benefit us and others (the legacy he wants to leave)? When the Word talks about "submission" (Ephesians 5:22) of the wife to her husband, it has more to do with the direction of the man, than being "obedient". Just as we are given the freedom to follow God. Similarly, a good man will offer you up something amazing to to join him in. Have a great Sunday, fam. 🙏🏻

I know I share this picture a lot but it's the only picture I have of me and my mom. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY MOMMY! 😭💔 Today is my first mother's day without you. 💔 I love you so much mommy and I wish I could spend today with you. I miss waking up and cooking you breakfast in bed and cleaning the whole entire house for you so you could be lazy. 😂 You always put me and daddy first and you would wait to do something for yourself but every year on this day I made sure you came first. 💚 It still hurts me your gone but daddy is doing alright he doesn't cry as much as he did but I know he does it when I'm not around. He puts a mask on and tries to be happy but I know it breaks him to be alone without you. I'm doing my daughter duties to make sure that me and him are okay. I know you are looking down on us to make sure we are okay. I feel like I see your face in public or hear your laugh, I feel like you are beside until the wind blows and then it's like your not there and it seems like I see your face in a crowd I guess I miss enough to know that I'm always gonna see you no matter if your here or not but always remember mommy I love to the moon and back. 💚😭 Can't wait until we meet again. 😭💔 Happy Mother's Day Mommy. 💜

Do not set yourself up for disappointment by having high hopes and expectations of the perfect New Years day. Day one is not about perfection. It’s not about checking off little boxes of every single goal you’ve set for yourself. Don’t expect your life to miraculously be different on January 1st. If you had a bad day, it does not mean you will have a bad year. New Years day is just that… a DAY. It’s one day out of 365 more chances to do things better. I read something today about self care. It said that if you’re the type of person who thrives off of a busy schedule, or if productivity and work give you the most satisfaction, than WHY on earth are you trying to fit into this self care mold that society created, just because “everyone else is doing it?”. I was like YES finally someone else understands my struggle!! Self care for me means doing more of what makes me happy. And what makes me happy might be completely different than what makes you happy. I like busy. I enjoy the business of motherhood. I like school. I like work. I like running my daughter to cello lessons and gymnastics practices. I like running errands and going grocery shopping. I like cooking all of our meals at home. I like cleaning my own house, doing my own laundry. I like studying and reading and learning. I like to keep my mind occupied. I like exercising and running. That my version of self care. I can’t Stand yoga. I will not meditate. I don’t like being home all day. I don’t think running around my house will burning sage will give me any sort of zen or awakening. I don’t like taking spa days. I hate getting my nails and hair done. BUT a lot of other people love that stuff! My point is, focus on the things that make YOU happy. And ALLOW YOURSELF some room for error. Believe me, as a type-A perfectionist, this is much easier said than done. But all you can do is your best. And you have to forgive yourself when your best doesn’t feel good enough. That’s why there are 364 more days to practice.

This made me shed a tear after a very longtime.... I neve told my children what my job was. I never wanted them to feel ashamed because of me. When my youngest daughter asked me what I did, I used to tell her hesitantly that I was a labourer. Before I went back home every day, I used to take a bath in the public toilets so they did not get any hint of the work I was doing. I wanted to send my daughters to school, to educate them. I wanted them to stand in front of people with dignity. I never wanted anyone to look down upon them like the way everyone did to me. People always humiliated me. I invested every penny of my earnings for my daughters’ education #. I never bought a new shirt, instead I used the money for buying books for them. Respect is all I wanted them to earn for me. I was a cleaner. The day before the last date of my daughter’s college admission, I could not manage to get her admission fees. I could not work that day. I was sitting beside the rubbish, trying hard to hide my tears. All my co-workers were looking at me but no one came to speak to me. I had failed and felt heartbroken. I had no idea how to face my daughter who would ask me about the admission fees once I got back home. I was born poor. I believed nothing good can happen to a poor person. After work all the cleaners came to me, sat beside me and asked if I considered them as brothers. Before I could answer, they each handed me their one day's income. When I tried to refuse everyone; they confronted me by saying, ‘We will starve today if needed, but our daughter has to go to college.’ I couldn't reply to them. That day I did not take a shower; I went back to my house like a cleaner. My oldest daughter is going to finish her Uni very soon. Three of them do not let me go to work anymore. My oldest girl has a part time job and the other three of them do tuition. Oftentimes, my oldest daughter takes me to my work place. She feeds all my co-workers along with me. They laugh and ask her why she feeds them so often. My daughter told them, ‘All of you starved for me that day so I can become what I am today, pray for me that I can feed you all, every day.' Nowadays I don't feel like a poor man

A young woman haunted by a family tragedy is caught up in a dangerous web of lies and deception involving a secret society in this highly charged, addictive psychological thriller that combines the dishy gamesmanship of Gossip Girl with the murky atmosphere of The Secret History.

One summer day, Grace Fairchild, the beautiful young wife of real estate mogul Alistair Calloway, vanished from the family’s lake house without a trace, leaving behind her seven-year old daughter, Charlie, and a slew of unanswered questions.

Years later, seventeen-year-old Charlie still struggles with the dark legacy of her family name and the mystery surrounding her mother. Determined to finally let go of the past, she throws herself into life at Knollwood, the prestigious New England school she attends. Charlie quickly becomes friends with Knollwood’s "it" crowd.

Charlie has also been tapped by the A’s—the school’s elite secret society well known for terrorizing the faculty, administration, and their enemies. To become a member of the A’s, Charlie must play The Game, a semester-long, diabolical high-stakes scavenger hunt that will jeopardize her friendships, her reputation, even her place at Knollwood.

As the dark events of past and present converge, Charlie begins to fear that she may not survive the terrible truth about her family, her school, and her own life.

Seed oil, salt, pepper, curry and masala. A dish of rice /// The barracuda is one of the most popular catches in Zanzibar, but it is not fundamental for this recipe, you might want to use any other kind of fish. Let’s see how to prepare it:

First of all, scale the fish and cut it in chunks of about 10 cm length. With a knife, make some cuts on the side of the fish and salt them inside. Chop a piece of ginger and put it inside and outside the fish.

Heat two spoons of oil in a pan and fry the fish for 10 minutes on each side. Drain it from the oil.

If you have the rice cooking machine, you can use it, otherwise boil the rice in some water.

Wash two bunches of spinach and cut them in stripes. Boil everything in some water for ten minutes and drain. Wash the tomatoes, aubergines and green mangoes and dice them. Heat two spoons of oil in a pan and when it is hot enough add, first, the tomatoes and, 5 minutes later, the aubergines. At this point, add a teaspoon of curry, one of masala and two pinches of salt. Let it cook for 5 more minutes and then add the mangoes. Wait for 5 more minutes and add the boiled spinach. Stir the mixture and pour a glass of water. When the water starts to boil, let it cook for other 10 minutes.

Now, the dish is ready to be served on a large plate, keeping fish, rice and vegetable sauce separate. Enjoy your meal! #zanzibar #food #recipes #grandma #cooking

The most beautiful gift from a daughter to her mother ❤️ The Wish
Dirty old street all slushed up in the rain and snow
Little boy and his ma shivering outside a rundown music store window
That night on top of a Christmas tree shines one beautiful star
And lying underneath a brand-new Japanese guitar

I remember in the morning, ma, hearing your alarm clock ring
I'd lie in bed and listen to you gettin' ready for work
The sound of your makeup case on the sink
And the ladies at the office, all lipstick, perfume and rustlin' skirts
And how proud and happy you always looked walking home from work

If pa's eyes were windows into a world so deadly and true
You couldn't stop me from looking but you kept me from crawlin' through
And if it's a funny old world, mama, where a little boy's wishes come true
Well I got a few in my pocket and a special one just for you

It ain't no phone call on Sunday, flowers or a mother's day card
It ain't no house on a hill with a garden and a nice little yard
I got my hot rod down on Bond Street, I'm older but you'll know me in a glance
We'll find us a little rock 'n roll bar and baby we'll go out and dance

Well it was me in my Beatle boots, you in pink curlers and matador pants
Pullin' me up of the couch to do the twist for my uncles and aunts
Well I found a girl of my own now, ma, I popped the question on your birthday
She stood waiting on the front porch while you were telling me to get out there
And say what it was that I had to say

Last night we all sat around laughing at the things that guitar brought us
And I layed awake thinking 'bout the other things it's brought us
Well tonight I'm takin's requests here in the kitchen
This one's for you, ma, let me come right out and say it
It's overdue, but baby, if you're looking for a sad song, well I ain't gonna play it

No moon event but had a compelling need to sage the * #!+ away throughout the house last night ✨ for no reason and without a ritual guide (I wasn’t feeling threatened at all. In fact, last night ended early with a serenity that we had been super productive the whole day — we also managed to cut 1 credit card! Or maybe I was feeling a bit anxious about an approval we’re waiting for for a project before we can say all systems go!) 💸 I picked my son’s old school alarm clock (the one that really rings like a bell in the absence of a real one) and went up corner to corner from the top floor going down while praying for abundance of wealth, prosperity and good fortune. Specifically those. I rang the clock on every corner as I held the tourmaline casting out all negative energies we could have carried inside; saged and burnt the palo santo and waved it around inside every room. Then I picked up the selenite like a magic wand as I drew imaginary beams of light on every person in the house and thought of our family and loved ones who weren’t with us, praying for their happiness, health, protection and that they always feel loved. And then ended each space by spraying it with distilled water filled with essential oils of release, abundance and joy blends energised with tiny crystals inside the bottle (what were the small round black crystals you put inside that bottle again @miqowithaq when you cleared our space?) Mio asked me, “is this a new religion?” And I said, “no. It’s just how I harness energy.” I wish I said that these rituals in fact remind me more to pray. And pray for the good things and not just pray chants from memory. I wish I had a way of knowing if I’m doing it right though. Pao said, he read or watched somewhere that our faith, beliefs or even the legacy we — in different ways, aim to pass on to our children or share to the world, when you think about it in a more universal concept, are our energies. And I want mine to be the fervent worker whose intentions are actually manifested, lit by the life of the crystals I leave around; my daughter’s memory of us making magic whenever she smells the after-burnt sweetness of the sage and palo santo combined.

One wouldn’t need to look too hard to find evidence to support said theories.

In the last month, I’ve gone on a 28 day fast with no food. I sold my house. Got rid of more-than-half my stuff. Moved to a condo on the beach. And, ended a two decade relationship.
In the process, I’ve experienced every emotion known to man. Very deeply.

People have had concerns. Even a few harsh judgements, and un-friendings (both online & off) -- from strangers and people I thought were friends alike, who are viewing from the limited scope of their own life.

Just last night, I was wiping tears from my 10 year-old daughter’s eyes on the beach. In the midst of experiencing the most epic sunset, she let it all out, sensitive soul that she is. Everything she’s been holding in & feeling in the midst of the rapid change in her young life.

We breathed together and I loved on her, helping her to move through it all.

In the process, I took on her pain as my own & felt, in that brief moment, like the worst mom on the planet -- knowing that I am she who put the cause of said hurt into motion.

And, as much as I wish I could say it was a mutual decision in this uncoupling, it really wasn’t. The choice has been on me, casting me as the heartbreaker in this narrative (because you only get to choose the role in your own life -- not how you occur for others). Faaaaaaawk, those are hard pills to swallow.

But, despite all of that... Every time I drop in -- out of my head and into my heart -- when I just let go and feel into the all-knowing essence of my soul -- that familiar feeling of calm, and comfort, and clarity takes over.

The message is the always same. “You are on the right path.”
“This is for the highest & best good of all.”
“It’s hard now, yes. But, keep going.”
“Trust”

Following your heart, coming into alignment, leaning into your purpose -- not easy work.

I avoided taking action for longer-than-I-care to admit because I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

It’s still not easy. Every day, I do the work, though. [Cont in comments...]

When we decided to makeover my daughter's room there was no plan other than she wanted light pink walls. She loves elephants so the room idea began with this print above her bed from @hobbylobby.The first thing I thought of when we saw the print was this white wood removable wallpaper from @wallpops. I knew it would be perfect for her room. Not to mention they completely had me hooked after using their brick paper in my kitchen a while back (see a full review in my feed). I put it up on a day she was gone so I could surprise her. And oh my gosh she absolutely loved it! It totally makes her room and gives it such a soothing feel which was what we were going for. It looks even better in person! Another huge win for @wallpops!! We got her bedspread (Opalhouse) from @target. I used the opposite side of her old quilt for layering and because we wanted to add some blue. Bought two $5 standard furry pillow cases from target and the cute deer pillow from @tjmaxx. The others we already had.
And for tonight, last, but most definitely not least! How about this blanket from @thewhiteroominteriors_nyc 😱 I envisioned it being icing on the cake but it's SO much more! It is huge, it's heavy, and the tassles are giant!! Pictures do not do it justice! They just don't.
And don't be surprised if you see see it around other parts of my house because my daughter should share the love right? 😁 •

This is how a conversation at the gym the other morning went down - so, I’ll always have a chat to someone at the gym (let’s face it, Im verrrryyyy good at having a chit chat💁🏽‍♀️) I usually see the same people everyday at gym , so when i see their changes, it’s nice to let them know. Sometimes just a few words can go a long way with someone.
I was chatting to girl I often stop and ask how her training is going and she is looking bloody incredible, so I told her. She didn’t agree. We chatted for a while about body image and how as females we can be our own worst critic at times, we can really beat ourselves down. We spoke about how we do this and we also spoke positively about recognising all our hard work too . Look, I’m a Virgo so it’s in me to be a total perfectionist in all aspect of my life which is completely unrealistic which often frazzles me further 🤷🏽‍♀️ but it give it my best shot everyday .
We never see or view ourselves how others see us . Sometimes we have to wonder why do we put in all the hours of training and clean eating when were only going to put areas of ourselves down?
Isn’t it funny how we walk around and admire people’s bodies but we don’t do it to ourselves ?? We nick pic and break our bodies down rather than admire and uplift ourselves !
Dont get me wrong I know most of us train so we feel good. It gives us energy, focus and motivation but we always have that niggling voice that goes against us regarding body image.
Well tell our friends how amazing they are all the time and mark my word, there isn’t a day my daughter leaves this house without me telling her that her outer beauty matches that inner beauty of hers 🙌🏻❤️shes an equal force ... like we all are in our own way which is beautifully unique !
Let’s make today an uplifting and positive day for ourselves !! Let’s recognise all that we do and salute our efforts ! ————————————————

On 9/11/2001, I was still very new in commercial #realestate. My daughter was only 1-1/2 years old. By the time the planes hit (which was VERY early on the west coast), I was already at the office preparing for two meetings that day. At that time, the news reports were still speculating at to what may have gone wrong. I called my clients, confirmed the appointments, and was on my way. By the time, I arrived at the first appointment, things had changed. More planes had hit, the buildings had fallen down, and thousands of people had lost their lives. It was now clear that we were under attack. My first client and I barely talked about his property. We both stood in his living room watching the television and cried. I left his house, cancelled my second appointment, and drove straight to my daughter’s daycare. I went home and watched the news while holding my baby the rest of the day. In the midst of a lot of financial difficulty at that time, I knew how blessed we were to just have each other. Every year on 9/11, I think of all of the families that were torn apart, the hearts that were broken, and the lives that were changed forever on that day. Seventeen years later, I still remember that feeling. Those lives are not forgotten. I will #neverforget as long as I live. #911memories #911 ( #repost @dan.stueve)

When Roxanne was found and taken to a public shelter, she was in serious distress and needed life-saving surgery to remove a foreign object from her stomach. Somehow, this senior stray had ingested a rock, possibly from eating grass or dirt because she was desperately hungry. After she recovered, Roxanne was transferred to Purrfect Pals in May of 2018 to find a safe home. This slate-gray, 12 year-old girl was featured by us a couple of times and featured at Love Meow but still she waited months for the right people to find her. She found living with all of the cats in the adoption room incredibly stressful, but we saw glimpses of her true, loving nature when things were quiet in the room and knew she would thrive once she was in a true home of her own.
On New Year’s Day, Eve and Adele came into the Woodinville PetSmart and fell in love with Roxanne. They knew immediately they wanted to give her the forever home she needed and spent the day preparing their house for her. Yesterday, they came back to complete the adoption process and took our silver girl home. This mother and daughter are committed to keeping Roxanne safely indoors, have set up a safe space for her in a small craft room with a large window and have even ordered a window perch for her like the one at the store where she so frequently hung out. When they left with Roxanne, they had a cart full of more goodies for her. They do have dogs, but will keep Roxanne separated from them, until or unless she says she’s willing to be friends. Roxanne’s formal name will be changing to Gertrude and they’re planning to call her Gerti. If you want to follow Roxanne/Gertrude her brand new Instagram account is @old_mrs_gerti
We’ve already heard that Gerti had a wonderful first night, seems relaxed and is peacefully purring away. The Woodinville volunteers and staff will miss Roxanne’s beautiful face and squeaky greetings but are ecstatic she’s finally, happily ensconced in the perfect home. Happy New Year Indeed!

I haven’t posted on Father’s Day since you were still here with us. I basically hide from social media every year on Father’s Day because I’m afraid. I was afraid of being hurt or sad because you’re gone. But I’ve gotten a little stronger.
Dad,
I hope you’re looking down on me. I hope you would be proud. Even though I don’t get your bear hugs anymore, and you don’t call me to say I love you every day, I still feel that you’re here with me sometimes. Even though you won’t walk me down the isle one day, or have our daddy daughter dance on the most special day of my life, I’ll have the dance from my sweet sixteen, the one in this photo, to cherish forever. Even though you weren’t in the audience for my broadway debut, I know you were watching from heaven (the best seat in the house, if you ask me) cheering me on. I still hear your voice in my memories, or when someone says something you’d say. I think of you every time I see Betty White (because you loved golden girls, oops, I spilled your secret obsession). I think of you every time I’m in the city, because you were the first person who would take me there every week for vocal class. I think of you every time I watch the news (because anyone who knows you well, knows you had a hard core Love for politics). I remember how strong you were, a damn hero, fighting cancer until you couldn’t anymore JUST FOR US. I remember how much you loved us, and how until the end, you never let go. God took you away (and it wasn’t an easy battle, but you never let go. You never gave up. I think of you every time I need hope, positivity, strength, and a promise for something better.
I think of you every single day. I wish you were still here and one day I’ll be able to see you again. From heaven I hope you hear me. To the greatest father I was blessed with for the short time you were here with us. And for the memories that will last an eternity. I love you dad, Happy Father’s Day.

This is a very big week in our house. My husband, @danielpritchie releases his first book to the world on Wednesday!!! Watching him walk through the writing/editing/publishing process over the last almost two years has given me WAY more respect for authors 👏🏻
.
One of my favorite authors is also my daughter’s namesake, Elisabeth Elliot. Go look her up and tell me you wouldn’t want a daughter named after her! Anyways, Daniel brought home two of her books a few years ago when his grandfather passed just a week after our Elliott was born. He got to pick a few things from their home and he definitely wanted these books. It meant so much to us to see these old original copies of her books well loved by Daniel’s grandparents in their home. That they read these and applied their wisdom to their faith and the raising of their family. Which in turn was passed down to their grandchildren and so on. That’s legacy.
.
I read the first three chapters of this a few weeks ago and picked it up yesterday to get back into it. As I thumbed through the first few pages I literally gasped as I saw the signature of Elisabeth Elliot on the title page!! So not only did Daniel’s grandparents love reading Elisabeth Elliot’s books to shape their faith and family, but perhaps they even met her! The woman who their great granddaughter would be named after one day!! 😭😭😭 To our whole DeBoe family, I hope you are crying now like I am!!
.
What a sweet, sweet special gift from God!! This will always and forever be a family treasure to us. I’m so grateful Daniel had grandparents that loved Jesus, who pushed to grow their faith by reading and learning and giving Jesus to their kids, who gave Him to their kids, who gave Him to their kids. And we will continue to pass the flame to the next generation and the next. In Jesus’ name. #measuresofgrace #legacy #elisabethelliot #donthidethewild #familytreasure #solideogloria

Four years ago when my baby girl Luca Gold died in my arms, my dearest friends all hopped on planes and showed up at our door. .
Before her memorial service, and in an attempt to get me out of the house and help distract me from the tsunami of pain, we all went to go get gold manicures. As I walked over to grab a drink of water at the nail salon, I happened to look up directly at a tiny pink princess throne...a chair specifically for little girls to get pedicures. 👑
To say that I lost it was an understatement. 😭
.
I remember my friend Amanda holding me as I sobbed, gasping for breath, wondering if a silly dream of getting mommy/daughter mani-pedis would ever come true. 💔💅🏻 Would I ever have a daughter? Will my heart ever beat again without it feeling like I’m going to die? Was the pain ever going to end?
.
Three years ago today, my body went into labor 9 weeks early, popping out a little 3lb 10oz force of nature named Birdie James on Father’s Day. She came out fighting for life making her mark on the world and doing it HER way, charging forward without fear, and nothing has changed. ☺️ I remember sitting in the NICU holding my breathing, alive, whole baby girl, crying in joy. My silly dream was going to get to come true...
.
I was going to have a mommy/daughter mani-pedis partner. ☺️🙌🏻💅🏻♥️
.
For four years since Goldie died, and for three years since Birdie was born, I’ve waited for this moment, sitting side by side and doing something girlie for no other reason than to be together...& to get pampered a bit. 💋
As she sat in her little polka dotted pedicure chair yesterday, she looked over at me with a huge grin, said, “Mommy, I am SO happy.” 😭♥️ .
“So am I baby girl. So am I.” ☺️😭
Happy Birthday, little Bird. So grateful you are here. So grateful your sister Goldie’s spirit is still so present, and we could both feel her with us yesterday. So grateful for redemption and how it can come in pink packages. And so grateful for silly dreams coming true with princess thrones and mani-pedis. ♥️💋

Jesus is so divine and involved in the lives of those committed to Him. He proves it over and over again. And He's so funny sometimes as well. God took this amazing family and put them on @agt AND on the day it aired, 2 peacocks came out of nowhere and flew into their house and pooped everywhere, LOL. NBC's logo? Peacock.
I tear up when Michael wins the golden buzzer from Simon. You gotta see the entire thing. Link is in bio. And swipe for peacock video. 😂

Follow @northshoretreasurehunters Right after Mother’s Day bbq/dinner. I got a phone call in regards to a large lost gold cross in the sand. The location was between where I was and where I needed to drive my daughter to her moms house. I met these beautiful people on the beach and turned on my metal detector and started searching. They knew the route they walked and I got a beep within a minute or 2. I told my daughter naia to dig with her hands in the sand and she found there lost gold cross. Naia looked so surprise when she found it. Everyone on the beach was cheering as it was returned to the owners. I always enjoy helping people find there lost items. Super stoked to teach naia and start em young with my passion of treasure hunting. Good job Naia. You can see the cross in her hand. Stoked to live and share aloha. As you can see in the picture. All smiles. That makes me smile. 🙏 happy Mother’s Day from #northshoretreasurehunters #godbless #aloha #pono 🤙

Kicked out of every high school for fighting my last option was alternative school where I met a dude and thought I was in love. Pregnant at 16 never had a job... so I went searching for money. Got a part time seasonal job and finished my high school classes online. Two days before I was supposed to walk across the stage in my cap and gown I gave birth. 17 with a baby and not a dollar to my name. Minimum wage which was $7.25 wasn’t cutting it so I quit my day job and went to the strip club. Made 1500 my first night and never looked back again. Got my own place, Dropped outta college and danced for 5 long years. Partied every night from doing drugs to clubbing to traveling from city to city. My mom kept my daughter most of the time. Summer of 2016 I flew to California to visit my sister and met the love of my life. Larry...He showed me a different outlook on life and made me realize my self worth. He respected me, told me I could do better so sure enough I trusted him and took his word for it. I quit the club cold turkey and moved me and my daughter across the map. Now almost 3 kids later. I’m full time mommy and step mom. I work a full time good paying job. Got my own house, living happily ever after! raising a beautiful family. I’ll never be ashamed of my past it’s what made me who I am today. I’m not a perfect mom. But I’m a damn good one at 24! I’ve made mistakes and learned from them I live each and every moment for my kids. I will never let them down! I’m a walking testimony for every mother out there struggling or whatever the case may be I’m here to tell you to never give up. Put your kids first and God will lead you the rest of the way. Happy Mother’s Day

May we be them, know them, raise them...
Women are the ultimate superhero. Daughter, sister, wife, lover, friend, confidant, soulmate, teacher.
Thankful for all the women in my life that have inspired me, and shaped me into the woman I am today. No one more than this incredible woman right here. Here’s a picture of my mom, pregnant and carrying her 2nd child. She organised my birthday party, hosted it in our house, baked the cake herself and STILL had a 9-5 job earning the money. Slaying family and business life. Women💪🏼💪🏼 How wonderful to think there are still great women I’ve yet to meet, yet to challenge and inspire me...
If I’m blessed enough to have a daughter of my own one day, I hope they can appreciate their value, and how much women boss this Earth. This world is fighting gender inequality more than ever today, and I hope future generations recognise the power and determination of GIRLS + WOMEN.
We bear the children and get back to business, just saying...

When I was growing up, there were times when my father was gone over 200 days in a year, but he never missed any of my games. That told me that no matter how busy he was, what I did still mattered to him. He was there to celebrate my wins, he was there to help me navigate the losses. That meant the world. And reflecting on that on Father’s Day, here’s a few things I’ve brought forward into my fatherhood: -
1. You only get this shot once! What in your life as a father is more important than the vessel in front of you? Your child is being filled with life, are they being filled with the life you teach them or the life where they weren’t important enough?
2. Fear is learned. They say babies are born with a fear of loud noises and a fear of height/falling. That means everything else our children are scared of is let in by us as fathers, the gatekeepers of our house. Fathers should define what gets into the house, let’s not let fear of any kind take root in our children. We are more than overcomers and our children should be nothing less! Give your children the knowledge of faith, not the knowledge of fear.
3. I’ll say this exact same thing every time I get the chance to speak about parenting: Our children learn so much about relationships and how to be treated by how we treat our wives and those around us. Do you want your daughter to pick “the right guy” when it’s time? Then be the right guy to your wife. Do you want your son to treat women with respect? Treat your wife with respect and show your son how a man should treat a women, with respect, honor and humility.

I remember when my girls were much younger and I used to say, “my daughters aren’t having boyfriends until they’re 25 and out of college”. And I also remember that day when my oldest was in 7th grade and having to find out from one of her friends that my oldest had a “boyfriend”, and everybody in my house knew of it except for me. And that’s when it hit me, that having the unrealistic approach was doomed for failure.
So, fellas with young daughters, if you have that mentality, you are only setting yourself up for heart break, lies, and your daughter having fear to talk to you about really important ish.
And with Valentine’s day a few days away, I wish my daughter would find a good nijja to take over my duties of the Super valentine’s traditions, cause I’m broke AF, and running out of ideas.

It was an arranged marriage, but I loved him to bits. He was the most humble and giving man that I’d ever met. He was a businessman, and would travel to Goa for days at a time. So after my daughter was grown up, I started volunteering at an NGO. Our life was running smoothly.
Then in 2011, he went for a routine health check-up. That’s when he found out that his kidneys were failing. My husband, my daughter’s hero, was hit with the most unwarranted surprise of his life.
I didn’t want him to go through the pain of dialysis, so I decided to give him my kidney. With God’s blessing––it was a match. He was completely against it, but I stood my ground. The operation was successful, and we were both placed in separate rooms. The first thing he did was look at me through the glass and ask if I was okay. He was worried about me, even though it was his life on the line.
The recovery went well and our life went back to normal. He even resumed his Goa trips, but I insisted on going with him because I didn’t want to leave him alone. After a while, he started having more and more complications...and last year, while we were at the airport in Goa, he suddenly collapsed. He passed away….
I miss him terribly––especially for the little things. Whenever he was out for work, he used to call and ask “Do you need me to get something for you?” or “Do you want to get some things for the house?” Now, I carry these bags of groceries on my own and these things kept breaking my heart.
After constantly questioning, ‘Why me?’ I realised that I couldn’t go on like this. I had to live for my daughter. She had already lost her father––she couldn’t lose her mother too. So, at 50 after never having worked a day in my life––I got a job in accounting.
I still feel him around at times––I talk to him about my problems and sense his support. He’s always with me...I truly believe that. He was a happy man, content with the small things in life––our daily cup of chai together was enough. How can I then not remain happy with the memories? Isn’t that what he taught me? To be content and smile?”

Yes, the man you see in this photo is a hoot-and-a-half. He’s hilarious, crazy, goofy and we have so much fun laughing and hanging out together.
.
And also, he is my hero. He is my rock, my mentor, my go-to… and I am the lucky girl that gets to call him my dad.
.
Safe to say I’m a total Daddy’s girl…💁🏻‍♀️
.
I cannot think of a single moment in my life where he was not there for me. I cannot think of a single moment where he didn’t empower me to be the best woman I can be.
.
He believes in me when I don’t believe in myself. .
He gives me a loving push when I feel scared to move.
.
He is my light when I am in the dark. Whenever I feel lost, he reminds me to trust myself to know the way.
.
He has taught me more lessons than I can count. He taught me integrity, courage, determination, self-belief, and most of all --unconditional love.
.
Here’s an example of how awesome my dad is…
.
Growing up, I didn’t earn an allowance by doing house chores like most of my friends did. That was just part of living and contribution in our home.
.
My dad had a shelf of books. Each book was worth a certain $ amount (self-growth type books like Who Moved My Cheese, Rich Dad Poor Dad, 10 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, etc..). If we wanted to earn an allowance- we read a book. Then we wrote an essay on what we learned and my dad gave us a verbal quiz for each book. If we passed, we got the $$. .
How cool is that?!?
.
My dad is a HUGE part of who I am today. Words will never be able to express how I feel about him and how incredibly blessed I feel to be his daughter. No words.
.
I am brought to tears thinking about how thankful I am for this man and everything he is and continues to be for me. Wow. I am so lucky…
.
I love you so much dad. I love and cherish our incredible relationship and close bond that we share. I know you always say how proud of me you are and what a gift I am to you. Well, I am SO PROUD to be your daughter and being born into your arms has been the greatest gift of all. I am forever your little girl. Happy Father's Day dad!
.
.
.
Happy Father’s Day to all of the amazing dads out there!!❤️

"We are planning to evacuate because the fire is getting close .... what would you like us to take with us from your room?" How in the world do you answer that!?!? I told her to Facetime me so she could walk around my childhood room, panning the room for anything that was still valuable to me.... You know what's surreal about that moment????.... you come to this realization that, except for the 2 things I asked her to grab (a string of pearls my uncle gave to my aunt before he died (which she then gifted to me for my wedding day), and a random 1889 penny that I found as a kid and saved FOREVER with the childhood thought that one day it would be worth millions) .... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING else mattered! ... I said... leave it all! ... just GET out and GET somewhere safe!
My parents had already started to pack up the family photos so that was the only other thing I cared about other than MY PARENTS and their dog.
How in the world do we collect sooooo much stuff throughout the years and have rooms FULL of THINGS and then when push comes to shove, you don't give a CRAP about any of it!!! I even remember Christmas morning when my dad told my mom he had bought her the house of her dreams and she stared a the photo in shock and disbelief, that we'd be moving into a house that we had only ever dreamed about as a family! The best gift ever!.... Even then... even with your family's dream house in threat of going up in flames... you still think only about your PEOPLE, the pets, and your memories!!! (the only things worth SAVING!) What a wake up call that was!!! Collect moments, NOT THINGS! ... it's the people and pets in your life that matter the very very most and LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE! .... 🙏🙏🙏 praying for the people, friends, and family who are going through this insane loss right now at home in Redding. And my team and my tribe who all live there. Anyone who needs help (housing, anything) just message me! ❤️ love you all!

From cooking him food, to brushing his hair at night. To never forgetting to put lotion on his baby skin, to being so patient when it’s needed and running up and down the house with him, although he had a busy day. I just knew he was special. You are loved, appreciate and celebrated. Today and everyday. Happy daddy’s Day! ♥️ May God continue to bless you.

My daughter just posted this old photo of me on her Instagram. I’m so honored that International Women’s Day makes her think of me. I think back to my grandmother who came to this country from Italy when she was 14. She worked in a factory until a marriage was arranged for her and then she rarely left the house. My mother had a bigger life, she finished high school and chose her own husband but she didn’t really get to live the life she wanted, just the conventional one prescribed for a middle class housewife. She never got to explore her own talents and live a bigger life. My own life has been unconventional and full of exploration but I’ve been limited by the financial constraints of working in traditional women’s professions, mostly teaching. My daughter’s life is so different - she is an engineer, world traveler, athlete and fiercely independent. She lives a life my grandmother could never have imagined! On this International Women’s Day I look at the trajectory of the generations of women in my family and I’m hopeful for the future and trying to imagine an even bigger world of opportunity for a granddaughter if I’m lucky enough to have one.

Update: our first ColourCure experience. Scroll ➡️ to see day 1 and current day pics for both me and my daughter. I chose to show you my right hand in my day 7 pic, since it is my dominant hand and has started to chip. You'll see minor chipping at the tips of my index and middle finger. I can tell you from my experience that lacquer starts chipping on me by day 2, so this is performing for me definitely as promised: a middle man between lacquer and gel. I got 5 extra days of wear, and these busy days included dish washing, cleaning the house, laundry, typing, weight lifting, and general kid shuffling 😆 A cute mani that lasts a week (for me) and only took 30 min to do (and I'm slow): sold.

My daughter's nails are posted, too, and she also has very minor chips on the tips of 2 nails. Remember, she's a busy girl (basketball practices and a game, football at recess, helping brother at baseball, swimming), soooo that's pretty durable! And all under 15 min for her.

If you're local to me, let me know if you're interested in trying it out. I'd love to show you! #JamsOnTheRun #EasyMani #TimeSaver #ActiveGirl #BusyMom #ColourCureJN

In honor of Father’s Day, I want to explain the supreme beauty behind this little note that my Dad left in my home a few weeks ago.
First of all, a little about my Dad. He’s a true conservative by nature; a lifelong Republican:, a veteran; an engineer; a farmer; married to the same woman for over 50 years; was employed by the same company for his entire career; and is still living in the same house that he bought in 1973.
By contrast, please consider his daughter, me: A liberal, twice-divorced creative type; a wide-ranging spiritual seeker who regularly visits psychics and shamans; a follow-your-heart sort of gal, who announced to her family last year that she was in love with a woman; and — most of all — someone who cannot stay STILL.
By actual count, in the last 20 years I have lived in 12 different homes. (This doesn’t include places where I have “stayed”; I’m just counting the places where my name was on the actual lease or deed.) What do you do if you are a man like my father, and you end up with a daughter like this? Well, if you are John Gilbert, you just love her. That’s it. You don’t need to understand her. You don’t need to change her. You just love her.
And when your daughter invites you to come visit the TWELFTH domicile she’s inhabited in the last two decades (a 600 square-foot apartment this time, by the way, when she used to live in a fancy five bedroom house on the top of a hill)....how do you react? Well, obviously you leave her a note at the end of your visit that says: “LOVE THE APT. THE BEST YET.” Fathers of the world, take a lesson from my Dad: THIS is how to love your children. Because even though I am almost 50 years old, I will always be my father’s child, and the only thing I need to know is that I’m always OK in his eyes.
Thank you, Dad, for never needing me to be anything other than what I am, to earn your affection. I return the favor by loving you exactly as YOU are. Which is easy, because you are perfect.❤️ LG
(PS: And thanks for loving my apartment, Dad! I love it too. Best one yet.)
