Then behind the scenes, I was hiding fast food, buying junk food (ice cream, chips and dip, and Oreos to name a few 😁🤷🏻‍♀️)

That was me on my so-called fitness journey while working out hard core at the gym, NOT getting results! .
I was wasting more money than I want to admit and STILL not where I wanted to be with my goals! .
Here’s what really happened once I invested in my health:
👉🏽I committed- I didn’t want to lose the money I was putting in towards my healthy lifestyle

👉🏽I SAVED money- because yes, unhealthy food is JUST as “expensive” as healthy foods 😉
.
👉🏽I got rid of my cravings- When I fueled my body the RIGHT way, it craved more of the RIGHT things! 🍎🥑🍋🥗
.
👉🏽I got my kids enjoying superfood smoothies too and we all DRINK our food to improve our health and add years to our lives with nutrients that don’t show up in our every day foods! 🤗

You see, it’s not about a “shake”, it’s about doing something good for your body. Fueling your body with what truly will help you feel good inside and out! .

As I was rushing to get ready for work this morning I spared 5 mins to peel a whole zucchini, chucked in some spinach, chopped cherry tomatoes and some red capsicum in a separate container.

At work, heated my zoodle mix, with chicken on top for 3mins. Then added parmesan cheese.
A very tasty, very nutritious meal, suitable for lunch or dinner and anyone's goals.
Total time spent 13 mins, for a weeks worth of food. You do have time for meal prep.
Choose yourself first, you are your priority and your family should be your other priority it generally comes down to being less lazy... for working towards your goals is a whole lot easier than you think. And for those who say it's expensive - these 7 meals equate to roughly $3 each.

Honestly, I’m not sure about competing. It’s extremely time consuming and expensive. It’s just not at the top of my to do list. Of course I’d love to do another in the future. I did love it. I’m sure it will happen. I’m hoping to one day do my first figure show.

1kg cooked chicken breast,
1 brown onion,
8 tomatoes
1 tbsp each of cumin, paprika, coriander and garlic
Chilli flakes
1 can drained pinto beans
1 can drained black beans
1/2 bunch fresh coriander (stirred through at the end). Sautee diced onion, then add diced tomatoes, herbs, beans and chicken. Mix well and cover for 10mins, then uncover for a further 5 and serve.

I wondered how hard it was to eliminate or reduce the amount of added sugar in a person’s diet. I came across this item in @asda
This regular Blue Dragon chilli sauce is £1.50, however the reduced sugar version is £2.00. This got me to thinking. You obviously CAN put a price on health, and big companies have realised this and increased the cost of “healthier” foods, praying on the fears and insecurities of the public.
It would be nice to think Asda and Blue Dragon UK could investigate this and perhaps adjust the pricing, or at least give us an answer as to why these low sugar products are so much more expensive.
I’m not just picking on these as I know that sometimes it is cheaper and easier to grab some junk food than to pick items and cook. Hence the rise in consumption of fast food etc.
At a time when obesity is at an all-time high, but public awareness is also on the increase it would be nice to see some of these larger companies help the public, by making these “healthier” options more cost effective. (That is as political as I get!) Charles Townend

If you take this taco seasoning to your local grocery store and match it up ingredient wise with the big name taco seasonings you would be floored. Then you’d see the price difference and say wow. Yeah I’ll pay 4 extra bucks for this one. Out of all the investments you make in your life. Shouldn’t your body and health be at the top of the list? I’m not getting paid for this. 🦄You may not have seen this but in recent years one the most influential fitness marketers started a trend. A trend which has quickly become one of the most profitable fitness businesses in the world. And one of the main tenets of this system is starting your day with coffee. Which is great. I love coffee. I love it so much, some might describe my relationship with it as sexually inappropriate.

☕️The issue isn't the coffee. The issue is the man who created this system recommends putting, at least, 1-2 tablespoons of butter in your coffee every morning. Along with ~200 calories of MCT oil. Why? Because he claims it accelerates fat burning and maximizes your focus and keeps you energized and blibidee blabidee bloop.

🦄Of course, he sells his own magical brand of coffee with uniquely rare beans and a spectacularly divine roasting process. He also sells his verrry expensive MCT oil and a variety of other supplements he urges you to buy for their "fat melting," "energy boosting" properties.

☕️But let's take a step back and look at all this from a global perspective.

🦄Is butter inherently bad for you? No. You can absolutely have it in moderation and lose fat and be healthy and blah blah blah.

☕️Is butter a superfood? No. It's butter. Calorically dense and anything but filling, it should not make up a major portion of your diet.

🦄And here is the issue at hand. 200 calories of butter + 200 calories of MCT oil puts your morning cup of coffee at 400 calories, all of which are coming from fat. Which means, if you're trying to lose fat and are eating, say, 1600 calories/day, that 1 cup o'joe makes up 25% of your intake.

☕️I don't know about you but if I was getting hungry & needed a way to stay full in a calorie deficit, I'd choose a big ass salad with protein & avocado & whatnot over butter coffee 10 times outa 10.

A lot of people think healthy eating is tasteless, expensive and time consuming. The reality is that not all you think is expensive and it’s easy to create meals of volume with cheap ingredients!

The ingredients used here are a tin of black beans, spinach, red pepper, onion, mushrooms and tinned tomatoes. All cheap ingredients and this meal took less than 10 minutes to cook! I used @thegymchef smoke and spice seasoning and @eatlean cheese but that’s purely because I have those things whereas you can use a different cheese (Zanna shows a vegan alternative in her video for those who would like it dairy free) and some smoked paprika. Full of carbs and protein, this is such a nutritious meal.

No one said you had to eat salmon and quinoa every day. A veggie stir fry could feel a family for under $20, that isn't expensive. Australia is currently the fattest country in the world, when in reality we should be the healthiest - we have access to the most amazing fresh produce. I want to dispel the myth that healthy food is expensive, don't miss my insta stories from today as I talk about this! Food industries are cashing in on the people wanting to eat healthy so they overprice food in restaurants, cafes, supermarkets etc. .
Unfortunately people have made the assumption that all healthy food is expensive. When really, vegetable ingredients are inexpensive and the best for you. Instead, shop in markets and get creative with cooking different foods. There are tons of recipes and I have even posted some of my own on my feed previously. I learnt how to cook from the age of 12 so I find it easy to come up with something and you can too, just push yourself and don't take the lazy option. It will become habit and will be much easier later on. Hope it helps ✌️

I try to be as transparent as possible with you guys about at least the ‘fitness journey’ aspect of my life because when I was first starting out a little over a year ago, I know it helped me to look at progress from people who were in the same position as me. Fitness models can be intimidating. I get it. Some of them have never struggled with being overweight so it’s hard to feel a connection with them. I am by no means a ‘fit model’ but I hope by showing you guys my progress I can 1. Show you that it CAN be done with hard work and 2. Keep myself accountable. The photo on the left was taken on May 9, 2017 and the one on the right was this morning, one week after dropping keto and starting to reintroduce carbs into my diet. I weight train 5 days a week and do cardio every day after working out and I don’t leave until I’m dripping in sweat (make it fucking count!). I track my macros but I also allow myself a cheat meal every now and then. It’s about balance so you don’t make yourself crazy. I don’t have a trainer, I don’t have anyone making my meals but myself. I’m a full time student which means ya girl is on a MAJOR budget (do NOT let people tell you that eating healthy is too expensive. There are ways!). I subscribed to the school of YouTube for help, creepily people watched at the gym for awhile to figure out exercises I wanted to try and bookmarked routines I saw on Instagram. It CAN be done on your own. You CAN make the change if you are ready to do it for yourself and no one else. It’s a journey and will take time but no one deserves your time and effort more than yourself. 🖤

These photos are not what that person wakes up looking like, by accident day in and day out. For example, for this photo in particular posted - I went through hell and back to get my body into that type of condition. Not to mention the other things I had done, other than fitness to enhance my look - like expensive hair, tan, clothing and make up. Let me tell you.. I did not “wake up like this”. So- Was it worth it? To me at the time, yes! Is it realistic to live my life that way 365 days of the year? Absolutely not! I was looking for a vitamin C serum with a short & non-comedogenic ingredient list that would also be gentle on my sensitive skin. Other vitamin C serums I've used in the past were sticky, more expensive yet less effective.

I definitely have seen an improvement in my overall complexion from using it. It absolutely brightens my skin overall. This product is fragrance-free and I notice no odor when I apply it. It absorbs fast and does not leave my skin oily or dry. ⠀⠀

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this here, but I did want to share my fitness story at least a little bit. A lot of people say "oh I want to get in shape, but I don't have the time" or "I'd get in shape, but I can't afford it" and I admit for awhile I was one of those people. A lot of people say "oh I want to get in shape, but I don't have the time" or "I'd get in shape, but I can't afford it" and I admit for awhile I was one of those people. I used the excuse that I couldn't always make it to the gym, but instead spent that time doing nothing else that mattered. I'd eat whatever I wanted to and complain "healthy food is too expensive" while shoveling $15 take out and pbrs into my face. In the beginning of April I finally told myself enough was enough. I kicked the booze to the curb and started really thinking about what I was eating (and much to my surprise started saving money). I decided that I didn't need to go to the gym to work out and finally broke the illusion that it was a magical place where fitness happens. All I have is a yoga mat and the outdoors and it's proven more than enough and i only spend 15 minutes to an hour max of my day doing a workout, a lot of which I found for free on youtube. I stopped drinking anything but water and I stopped making up excuses. I've been all over the scale all of my life, being 230lbs at my max and now I'm sitting comfortably at 165lbs and not planning on stopping. The only secret to getting where you want to go is that you really need to want it! Following on from yesterday when I pointed out that some low sugar items are more expensive than the higher sugar versions, I also spotted this.
Protein is the new “buzz” macronutrient. And for a damn good reason. It is used in many bodily processes and as such should be a priority in your diet.
Companies have latched onto this and realised they can pop the word “PROTEIN” on the front of a box and hike the price up.
Look at this example
Quaker PROTEIN oats contain around 9 gms of protein and are 30p a sachet.
Asda regular oats are contain 3 gms of protein (just 6 gms less) but are only 8p
That is a massive difference for such a small increase in the amount of protein.
Learn to read the labels on your food boxes and you could save yourself a small fortune!

I would like to buy the organic stuff all the time, the grass fed beef and all that but sometimes my food budget doesn’t permit that... however here is an example of being more aware about what you eat... selecting a peanut butter. I thought I’d try the honey one- second picture- until I read all the random shit that’s in it, fully hydrogenated vegetable oil is what lost me... if your food has a label if 10 ingredients, half of which you don’t know, why are you eating it? Take one egg, one banana, a couple drops of vanilla extract. Mash banana and egg together as best as possible. Once combined, add in 1/4 cup of rolled oats and mix together. Scoop 2-3 spoonfuls of batter into a hot pan and add in a few blueberries. Flip as you would regular pancakes. Incredibly filling and delicious! 😻🍴

It's funny (to me at least) how people will spend hundreds each week/end to eat out, party, go to night clubs, drink alcohol, stock alcohol in their houses, etc. But when there's talk about eating organic, juicing and supplementing - it's often met with resistance because of the cost.

The other day when I posted about healthy food someone commented that healthy food is too expensive. And I get it. Organic food, juices and supplements can be pricey. However, it is possible to eat super healthy on a budget and what we consume always comes with a benefit or trade off.

The way I see it is we can pay for healthy food options & choices now OR most likely pay for health issues later. I'm opting for option number one. I would much rather invest in my wellness now than in an illness later.

Now to talk about me and my diet and lifestyle. As I said, this is a very common question for me, but I've never answered it quite like this. My diet in my earlier years was never that healthy. I grew up in the microwave dinner era, so most meals that I ate as a child were nuked in the silver box. But on the other hand, physical fitness had been something that I was passionate about at a very early age. I started lifting weights and working out at 5-years-old. By the time I was 8 I had a six-pack. I am now 37, and I still have six-pack abs, though my body has changed quite a bit from my 5-year-old self.

Between the ages of 12 and 22, I was in the gym every day, running, swimming, cycling, wrestling, martial arts and extreme sports. At 20 I started doing yoga alongside my martial arts practice, though I took a break for a few years from it before I became serious in my yoga practice at 29. At 16 years old, I started to eat very clean and healthy mostly because of my focus on wrestling. I became even more serious about my diet when I turned 30. I was obsessed with nutrition, where my food came from, and what I ate. I followed a lot of what Dr. Mercola said when it came to eating and nutrition. I ate only organic food; I cut all grain out of my diet, there was a period where I was a raw vegan, I tried different diets like this to see how they’d effect me. Then at 33, I lost my well-paying job as a firefighter/paramedic, and I became a full time, very poor, yoga teacher. Eating healthy is expensive, and I couldn't even afford cheap food at that time, plus I was teaching so much, that I didn't have time to cook. So 3 or 4 nights a week it was cheap pizza from across the street or pre-made pasta from Trader Joes. I still didn't eat fast food (unless you count pizza as fast food), but it wasn't very healthy either.
