* Convergent is assisting Martha's Village & Kitchen, a Southern California homeless shelter, with a $5 million campaign to create new programs, expand services, and improve facilities. We launched this agency's first-ever campaign on March 6th and are excited that nearly $3 million has been raised to date. In addition, when the campaign reaches $4 million, a matching donation of $1 million is pledged to take us to the finish line.

This is extremely important because women are already at a disadvantage, but this campaign could help so many girls and young women everywhere. First, “[a]lways anchor our external direct action with the power of economic withdrawal.” Second, “[w]e’ve got to stay together and maintain unity.” Third, strengthen black institutions by banking black.
