My compliments to the chef, the witch doctor himself @brutalfingerboards, on these dual bearing majesties. Great free-spin, smooth rolling bearings, housed in semi-translucent purple, infused with gold glitter. I chose the “street shape” which has a generous flat riding surface and nicely rounded off wheel faces. Not sure on the exact material used, but it has the feel of a dense hard plastic that lands with a “tap” (to clarify, when landing: light plastic china wheels sound like “tic tac”, while soft urethane wheels make a “thud”... these are in-between). They don’t grip and squeak like urethane or “ice skate” like glossy plastic wheels. It’s been a very enjoyable riding experience and I am thoroughly impressed Trent 👍🏻 Stop over @brutalfingerboards page to check out some of the other shapes and colors for these newly crafted rolly stones.

I didn’t have any expectations for Daytona since I only started riding dirt track for the first time three weeks ago. I learned a tremendous amount but still feel like I rode pretty far under my potential and made a few costly mistakes in qualifying that set me back. There were 64 fast dudes & gals there and I missed out on transferring to the semi-final by 1 spot so it’s not all bad. We head to ATL in a couple weeks and I’m beyond excited to keep progressing. @phillyphilz, @scrappythefrenchie, and I are on our way home to NY! Huge thanks to @johnnylewis10 and @alyshalewis for the hospitality and the flat track-for-dummies 2 week boot camp. 💪🏻

It’s environmentally friendly, in that it doesn’t use a ton of energy to run (less than 340 kWH, according to the company), it recycles all its water unlike indoor Flowriders and it’s a lot less expensive to build than some of the extravagant parks currently in different phases of construction. Cressy was really good today for our perpetual flat ride 😂😂. Decent walk to canter transitions and had some really good trots. Gem was good for being in the outdoor for the first time. Did some poles and Cavaletti‘s mainly. She was super quick but got a bunch of half lead changes, really need to work on the full ones though. She got a lot of her walk to canters though so I’m happy. Shiloh was well shiloh so like that ride happened 😅😅😅 did poles and Cavaletti‘s with her too mainly walk trot though. Bella was excited to get out but was really good to lunge 😂😂. Who knew your little, erm, hearing would serve as a gentle reminder for when your child is ready to transition from a booster seat to Just using a seatbelt?? In case you didn’t know, here’s the 5-Step-Test. Your child should be able to do all five before they’re out of a booster seat.
1. Sit with back flat against vehicle seat.
2. Knees bend at the edge of the seat
3. Lap belt on tops of the thighs and not riding up onto belly
4. Shoulder belt lies between shoulder and neck
5. Sits properly in the seatbelt. No slouching, no fidgeting with it, doesn’t place shoulder belt behind them, etc

Just a Little safety tip.
Like and share to spread the word.
Because I still love ya, Facebook. Let’s just do better. Thanks.

These are the first unaided steps I have done since last February. 2017. No braces on the leg, no crutches. ****** I CAN WALK!****** Monday physio. Just a regular day? Not by a looong shot.
Physio Phil was off last week, so today he got to see me having done all my physio but without him knowing-I was pushing!
I have been doing my bike riding, stationary bike, and a million other things. So once I showed him I could stand on one leg, fully weight bearing (all without the brace on & I’ve stopped using that unless going to a crowded place, or a long journey (still need the ok on those but maybe my surgeon w

So tonight we both had a total mind blown moment. Just losing the brace was the focus for the next 2 weeks. Phil saw I’ve reached flat flexion & decided we were off. Two walks across the physio room, then down the hall to the large room, and voila! Video that I can walk in the house without crutches (not outside yet, plus my cardio fitness is appalling!) Then I completely amazed Simon, b/c he opened the door when I came home & grabbed my bag from the car. I asked him to hold my crutches so I could take off my trainers, and instead, I went for a walk through a few rooms in the house. 😉

About 170m for my first day of walking. I cried, Simon cried, even my physio Phil did. Without these two brilliant and supportive men, I might not be here.
To think we were talking about potential amputations in January..... First 2 videos are at the physio's, and the 3rd was in our house maybe 25 minutes later. Even I can see the improvement the more I do it.
I climbed stairs like a normal person for the first time in 14 months tonight.
I'm in shock. I think.
Me with my two men who got me here. I love Phil's response after I sent him the video of me walking at home, and told him I'd climbed stairs, and he sent this text with the best emojis.
Still, lots to go, but talk about a hump day - today was a Munro day!
#stillirise #gratitude for all the support everyone has been sending so far - you all have playe a huge part in keeping me motivated. So thank you from the bottom of my full, happy heart ❤️🙌🏻😀

So when this bike came out no one seemed to know what to do with it. After putting my butt on it for a few months I’ve got some thoughts on the matter.
.
This bike is basically a 650B crosscheck optimized for front loading, yeah? The crosscheck is still an amazing do everything bike that I regularly recommend all the time. I would probably recommend the packrat to anyone tall enough to be in the 650B wheelset size frames for sure, die to the slew of new tire options. Is this bike enough of a change to trade in your old cross check? Probably not unless yer that into the #supplelyfe
.
After riding this bike around, I realized that the reach seems long even for a long torso human like myself. Which leads me to believe this bike would be better suited for flat/sweep bar duty, especially with a load on that 24 pack rack. Admittedly Im not a huge fan of drops to begin with, I still feel this bike would shine with some risers. .
I think as a frame set this would make a sweet swap over from an old cross bike if someone wanted to drop into this new road plus thingy. Besides the wheelset someone could do parts bin build pretty darn easily for this bike, the saving grace of rim brakes in this instance.
.
I had more critiques on the geo and such but those all seemed to be addressed in the midnight special, so Ill just say I’m excited to ride that at some point. But, if you want an inexpensive do all the damn things bike or a modern but classy 650B rim brake bike that isn’t a noodle then Surly has got ya with the Packrat.

Welcome to #FrotherFriday, where we interview a #frother with 5 quick fire questions... First up, we have @toddsatchell - coached by @markobrien1987 👌

Here are his answers:
1. Currently I am working towards a long term plan of racing in Europe, I am currently racing with a small team in Germany called Cycling team @magnesium__pur and am hoping to step up to continental level next year over here
2. Earlyish bird, usually like riding in the morning but not too early, nothing before 9 unless completely necessary
3. Favorite training loop would be the loop back in the Wimmera which is a 4hr loop which goes through the Grampians, plenty of climbing and plenty of flat
4. Don’t currently have a song on repeat for ergo sessions, that would send me insane! Pretty addicted to anything Aussie hip hop though!
5. Hmm the if question, you know what @petosagan says about if questions! I would have to say him though, would be amazing to be good at every aspect of cycling!

Good Friday Morning!

One of the things that I find most interesting - and also most tricky - about doing some of my work in this state is that its people do not often allow for easy characterization or "political position" pigeonholing relative to the rest of the world.  I have spent a great deal of time being either the "tree hugging hippie" or "the dirty industry guy" depending on the room I am talking with. We have a long history of being used by outside interests for their gain - not ours - and there are many things about that in our state right now.

These truths lead to very interesting politics, so interesting that I have joked that the differentiators in West Virginia are way more narrow and nuanced than any national debate might have you believe.  Folks that may have no problem with fossil fuel development generally may have a strong opposition to pipeline construction or mountain top removal mining.  Folks that hate opiates and meth may be strongly for marijuana legalization and against jailtime for drug users. I've met several "hippies" (complete with tie-dye and long hair) that love hunting and shooting and own AR-15s, and ATV riding coal miners that "won't have a gun in the house". The common thread here is that folks want things to benefit the PEOPLE THAT LIVE HERE, not the shareholders in New York or the large donors in DC.  We want to be able to feed our families, have stable work, send our kids to good schools, and have the lifestyle of being "with the land" - hunting or hiking or farming - and don't see why it has to be one or the other.

I've started not trusting anyone, on either side, that tells me it must be "all or nothing". Those folks are people that probably haven't spent much time "walking in someone else shoes". Today's image felt resonant to me today because of the ripples and the waves - its been tough to find the "flat water" in our culture of late, but fortunately for us, we like these rivers "with the rocks in them"

Half a year went by so fast
Just feels like a dream

This winter the snow toys stayed packed and the rock toys stayed racked. I went from riding 100+ days to climbing 100+ routes, some of them multiple times, in the day and at night (mostly at night), with and without a partner...with and without a rope. I connected with this place and the creatures that inhabit it. I stood next to silent legends and loud egos. Stayed up late, woke up early, worked hard and was never late. Hot days, frigid nights, flat tires and a timing belt. And while my bank account was pretty empty, my heart sure was full. So to everyone who shared in this experience with me, Thank you.

We had been out all day riding and filming lines miles away from our base camp. On our ski back to our home, at the edge of the snow line, we decided to stop and try for one more shot. We waited at the top of this gentle slope for 45 minutes to see what would happen when the sun dipped to the horizon. @sethgillis @rafaelpease and I were all pretty spent and over it at this point, but we stuck it out and waited. The terrain was flat and uninspiring and the snow was shit, but the light turned it all to magic for exactly 3 minutes. Then we rode home in the dark. Went up to Targhee last week, mostly to ride pow, but also to “compete” in a freeride world qualifier event. The riding was sick all weekend, it literally didn’t stop snowing! As far as the comp goes, it was two days, with the top 8 out of the 30ish dudes advancing to the second day and the better venue. Long story short, everything I looked at during inspection was flat or had rocks in the landing so I had no idea what I was going to do in my run. During what seemed like a 2hr wait at the top, I couldn’t make my mind up, let alone actually see anything beyond the first cliff band. Finally time came for my run and I totally winged it, rode a line I had never looked at or even imagined. I ended up only hitting one cliff, where most of the other guys hit 2 or 3, but I rode everything as fast as I possibly could. The judges gave me 5th 🤷‍♂️👍. Which was all I needed to advance to the second day. The next day ended up being a total white out and got cancelled. This left me 90% stoked to ride more pow, 5% bummed because I actually had a sick planned line on the second day, and 5% relieved cuse my line was gnarly and I had a good chance of eating shit. 😂— Overall, I’d say snowboard contest are wack, with way too much standing around, + judging is dumb. But 5th place on a totally winged run was pretty tight. AND @wileyk94 WAS THERE!!! + pow shredding with @cdubbadawg and @jennapaller = SUPER FUN AWESOME TRIP!!! 🤙💥 #stoked

It is far warmer this winter than in years past, she is unsure why, only that it makes water scarce and food plentiful. Down in the valley there sits a burned out cottage, only the frame remains. Within this skeleton vines link windows and columns, forming a wall of vegetation nearly think enough to keep the wind from stirring the ash still in the main room. A fox emerges from this ruin, orange coat bright against the dark soot. The sun beats down on both eagle and fox, warming them, illuminating. Each basks in the light of their holy observer, the great fiery eye from which they derive life. The wind picks up along the mountains slope, and the eagles wings spread. Riding the current of warm air, bird of prey easily sights fox. Unaware and out of place, eyes to the dark soot, our fox doesn't see the eagle until he is being lifted off the ground with talons in his back and side. A flurry of pecks from the eagle and the fox sees daylight no longer. Now back at the nest, the young roost of eagles brood eats well. Fox was well fed before the sun stopped shining into his eyes, years will pass, and eagle chick will become hunter. More foxes will sprouts from their den like vast and plentiful fields of grain over the flat expanse. Eagles time too will come, her feathers will turn gray and wilt as all flower petals and grass stalks share in destiny. Drinking from the same bowl in the sky, illuminated by the same star. And the world turns.

Today the news has broke that 22 time Grade 1 winning hurdler Hurricane Fly has been retired at the age of 11.
I remember watching this fella in his days as a novice, long before I got into flat racing, and I will never forget the war he had with Solwhit in Ireland where he needed to pull out all the stops, his five Irish Champion Hurdle wins at Leopardstown & two Champion Hurdle's at the Cheltenham Festival.
His great battles with Jezki over the last two years were something to remember till my dying day, you could run them over 2m, 2m4f or 3m (the latter for the first time at end of last season) they would still battle out the finish & I can't thank him enough for everything he's given us, I owe him plenty.
My favourite ever line used during his races was Des Scahill's call when he won the Ryanair Hurdle at Leopardstown: "They're coming down to the final flight, and it's a battle of the champions now, and Hurricane Fly the course specialist, Jezki on the inside, they fly the final flight, Hurricane Fly & Jezki on the outside Arctic Fire, they're racing up towards the finish, Hurricane Fly from Jezki & Arctic Fire, it's a tremendous battle, the Hurricane is unbeaten at Leopardstown!" I think every racing fan would like to thank the amazing team at Closutton in County Carlow for the job they did with this horse, Willie Mullins training him, Paul Townend riding his work & his races in his earlier days, and Ruby Walsh who was a mainstay on his back for rest of his career.
Happy retirement, champ 💙💚 #hurricanefly #williemullins #rubywalsh #paultownend #thefly22 #greathorse #racehorse #thoroughbred #horseracing #superstar #champion #legend #ireland #leopardstown #montjeu #cheltenham #thankyou

My Great Grandma Jan (Marguerite Butler) was (and still is) the most stylish woman I’ve known. I remember her floating around the house in a dressing coat and kitten heels for slippers. Her size 7B feet were so arched by the heels she wore on the streets of Washington DC, where she dazzled daily, that she could never be flat footed. She passed away when I was 12 going on 13 and I remember my Dad, her grandson, telling me I could have anything I wanted from her lifetime collection, which was vast and full of treasures. I was too young to understand the labels or the fashion history that lived in that bedroom turned closet, and to this day I regret not having claimed it all, or imploring my Dad to distribute it amongst my sister and cousins. We’d have been set for life. I did take a few pieces, a hand sewn lace bolero jacket, some chocolate brown Ferragamo riding boots, an embroidered Mexican shirt worn luxuriously soft, a few handbags and a few furs with her name embroidered in the lining that I trepidatiously (but proudly) wear on special occasions. I had the intention to come back for more when I was ready, and it was in my Sophomore year of college that I came home to find that everything had been donated. I felt I’d failed my grandparents who, as a young, Black couple in their day and age, worked hard and proud to create the quality of life they enjoyed and passed down. I can only imagine the struggle, the dissonance they must have felt as they lived a life of kings and queens in their inner sanctums and communities yet were disrespected and seen as second class, other, in the prejudiced, racist world they had to move through in order to create a greater life. In the end, these are all just things, and I know now that the legacy from my Grandma lives on and is more than material. I feel her presence quite often these days. I was happy, however, to find these images this morning via @thiswasfashion and remember her light, her flare, her grace. No one did it like Grandma Jan...✨ #liveopen

Discovering the area around my new home Wellington. Meeting the unknown. Everyday. Crystal clear mornings. Snowy mountains around us. Windy Wellington. Everything in walking distance. My new full time job at a French cafe in the CBD. Spending some time with flat mates and new friends. Going to live gigs. Meeting myself again. Forgetting about the ego. Wearing clothes that are rather comfy and warm than fancy looking. Easing going people. Always friendly. Always interested. Fresh air to breath. Quiet and peaceful home. Next to the forest of Mount Victoria. Happy butterfly’s in our backyard.

I know I am on the other side of the world, but everyday I feel more and more that I have found the place where I belong. Where I feel like me 🦋

The jumps that I trotted were supposed to be trotted

Honestly I’m not going to lie it was not our best ride. Versace was absolutely amazing, but my top half looked and felt like a fish out of water. I thought my leg was the issue, but after having my mom take videos of me riding and jumping with and without stirrups I saw that I have an amazing strong lower leg, and my upper body has gone too 👎🏼. I’ll be doing some exercises to help that. I honestly think it’s from not jumping high in so long because the flat is not the issue just jumping, and when I was jumping higher I knew how to act over small jumps and now I’m just like throw my self over the jump and lay on my horse. I mean to the point where I made Versace loose balance and knock jumps and I was all over him

In the time between thinking about cars, drawing cars and family time, there’s a little space left for other stuff. Like this 1996 GT Pantera I got for my 16th birthday. Was ridden hard for about a decade, a bit more sporadically since. About 3 years ago it was looking (and riding) pretty long in the tooth - there wasn’t much original left at that point, and even that stuff was tired. It was rebuilt in a resto-mod style, with some period-correct goodies (previously upgraded Ritchey rims that got re-laced, my OG Flite Titanium seat, XTR V-brakes, Panaracer Smoke/Dart skinwalls) along with newer components that are an evolution of what originally came on it - Deore XT 3x10, new Rockshox fork, Ritchey flat bars and WCS stem. Took it out and got it dirty last weekend, was a total blast, such a fun bike. I’m also currently building up a Reynolds 853 steel frame with a slightly more modern setup, disc brakes, etc. Still a 26er, though. 😎 #8380 #gtbikes #mountainbike #ritchey #selleitalia #shimano #panaracer #aluminum #oldfriends

Too much ,I think Equitation is just a stepping stone really , I'm glad you get to gallop and go in a less rigid form . You have to apply the underlying skills learned in Equitation and then let it go as you are here . I'd still like a softer arm .Maybe jump a few little jumps at home or in schooling with your hands 18 " apart and don't allow them to touch the neck at all ./in that way your arms will have a little more independence from the crest .Your foot is really parallel to the horse .That's how I was taught in the 1970's Your toe and your knee work in the same way If you can ,allow your toe to come out 30-45 * so that the flat ,inner calf rests on your horse's side and your weight isn't quite so pivoted off your knee . That should provide more stability as you jump bigger and especially wider jumps ,where you have to sustain your stillness for a longer beat in the air Really Nice Riding !!!”

From the Bustin Family: “Over the years we’ve been interested in the concept of a powered skateboard and the dream of the endless hill, but our crew never really jumped on the e-board trend. The reason wasn’t because of ego or backlash from “core” skateboarding or longboarding. We tuned out close-minded haters long ago and generally pay little mind to the many obtuse perspectives and culture zoos within skateboarding as a whole. Our resistance to electric boards was more about a general disappointment in the experiences we had on them.”
.
“The truth is that we just couldn’t get past the feeling that every e-board we tried was flat-out boring after 5 minutes. We literally had a pile of barely used, popular name-brand e-boards in our garage that no one ever rode except for when filming. When the crew at @dualomo brought us the concept and asked us to help develop a PUSH-FRIENDLY electric board, we were stoked at the opportunity to help craft a better experience for riders.”
.
“To us, standing still and pushing a button is about as boring as riding an escalator. Skating involves PUSHING, period. But if your daily commute includes miles of flats and uphill climbs, we think a cheat code makes sense. @Dualomo had the tech to make it happen and we had 15 years of building skateboards that put smiles on peoples faces. After over a year of collaboration we have built a board and setup that pumps, carves and pushes like a signature Bustin. Flat track racing is one of the most exciting motorcycle competitions to watch, because it’s kind of like watching a motorized ballet where just one dancer wins.
Watching someone keep control while riding fast and smooth is pure joy. What @go_takamine does is pure art.
I’ve been watching him for a long time but never met until yesterday when we next-door pitted. Fast dude, fast friend. So rad yesterday!

That's an old saying among people who have sold horses for a living .The eye just seems to go to a shiny grey anywhere ,a horse show ,a hunt and most often to whoever is tasked with keeping them clean !!! It's not easy ,and you've done a great job with this horse !! If you look at the lines and angles in picture ,you can see that your heels are almost directly over your hips and your back is absolutely parallel to your horse's .This is strong riding . Your foot is perfectly placed on the stirrup..enough foot through the iron for security ,yet not so much to block the stretch and subsequent flexion of your ankle ,which allows your heel to go down . Everything here serves a purpose . Nothing here is extraneous or calls attention to itself ,which allows the eye to focus on the horse ,and for the horse to do his best .This horse has a great jump for anybody to ride in the Equitation Ring . His arc is super flat and most of his effort is centered in having a great front end .The lack of an "arc" allows the rider to remain still and give a polished and smooth ride . You seem to have left the ground a bit on the long side ,given the 1/2 ;push off behind Having a good pace and an experienced horse will insure that everybody gets to the other side safely .Very Good and Solid Work !!Guest Judged by Kevin McGinn

The trail starts off flat and then goes up and over this hill, which is MUCH longer and steeper than it looks. I’m thinking it might make a good place for some hill repeats later in the season. Oh, and I’ll be riding my mountain bike the next few weeks to work on strengthening my legs on hills like this.

Killer rocker and outline. The idea was to

to a wider audience. It’s a wave catching,

The Crowd Killer features:
• A slightly wider, wave catching nose, with a “no pearl” flip tip, allowing the added length to still fit into the curve of waves.
• A wicked little double bump swallow tail, which feels lively and playful in small surf, yet holds long lines in larger waves.
• A relaxed and fast central rocker, that glides with ease.
• Plenty of tail rocker, with deep double concave, for whipping wraps like a pro.
• New “Hidden Volume” two stage deck line, which focuses the foam toward the stringer and a rapid taper towards the rails. This creates a flat, stable deck, without feeling full or bulbous, and allows sensitive yet forgiving rails.
• Own the local spot, or piss off locals when you travel with this Crowd Killing machine.

I use a basic front wheel lift with good momentum leading into it. I stomp my feet and pump my arms together to throw energy down into my bike. When my bike springs back up I help it onto the feature with my arms. While my front wheel is heading up, my chest follows to get my weight up and forward. I need to get my butt off the rear wheel so it can get up next. I slightly point my toes and push back on my pedals while bending my knees to help my rear wheel up. Notice how my body hops up a little to unweight the rear and keep the rear wheel with me. Even if I don’t clear the obstacle completely, I’m trying to help it up and lessen the impact if it slams against the rock.
...
Once both wheels are up onto the rock my body should be centered over the bike. If I don’t shift my weight forward properly while getting up and over a feature, I could get caught in the backseat when the bike levels out which could cause my wheel to turn off it. I need to be centered for my front wheel to go where I want it to go, which is off the end of this rock deliberately, not on its own terms. 😳 My arms are bent and I can see over my bars to where I would like to guide my bike. I then mindfully push my front wheel off the rock and bring my hips back to center as my rear wheel starts to drop off. That way when the bike is level again, I am centered, balanced and ready for what’s next. 🌟👍🏼🤗 #ridebikesbehappy #livbeyond #howweliv 📹 @angiweston💜

We went over trials move, picking up lines, going fast and goofing around (the goofing around part is really important haha) 😊. This is one of my favourite time of the year and seeing these kids riding well and having fun is super rewarding for me 🤘.
The video is about a game we made: THE REDBULL ROLLPAGE 😂😂😂!!!
We had 5 minutes to pick up a creative line that could involve anything, here is what I came out with 🤔🤪.
PS: note that after the nose pivot on the flat I’m doing a short stoppie pedaling thing, I’m actually shifting up one gear to prepare for the climb 😉. Another thing you could practice that could come pretty handy sometimes 👌🔥.
Remember, it’s only by playing around a lot that you are going to improve your skills 😉. And playing around, holy crap I really like it hahaaaaaaaaaa 😂.

It was difficult coming from living outdoors & nature to hectic highly touristic city. All I saw was dirt, pollution & cold. Also having so many things to do was very overwhelming as it started to bring some fear of missing out.. thinking I had to do so many things 😅. thankfully I bounced back to being myself and was content in doing a lil social stuff but not too much, I mostly spend days by myself and truly love it ahhaha 😂🙈. I’m still very much a nature lover and won’t stay here for long, but I have found grounding activities (especially yoga & eating out in healthy cafes, walking in parks and riding bikes 😂) and friends along the way 🤩! I decorated my flat beach vibes and this is to tell you, no matter where you are right now, you can create your own world and reality and you are right where you need to be ! Looking for sun ?! Then be it ☀️🙏🏼💫do you have any thing you like to do to ground yourself in cities ?! 📸@peaceinourselves ❤️

Before the storm that never came 🤷🏼‍♀️ Last Sunday we decided to go for a bike ride at Irvine Regional Park and as we were driving to the park it started raining. Everything looked very dark and gloomy near the mountains but the coastline looked nice and sunny, so we decided instead of canceling our little adventure to take a slight detour towards Newport Beach. We ended up riding our bikes from The Wedge to the Huntington Beach pier and back, totaling around 17 miles round trip. The weather was perfect, it felt like a summer day. Although the clouds did get close to the coastline at one point it never rained, at least while we were there. This coastal bike ride is very scenic and easy to do since it’s mostly flat, so if you ever feel like going for a bike ride but don’t want to do anything too challenging, this would be perfect for you. #weekend #latergram

Try out these moves at home while your watching tv 📺 I do a set in between commercials! 😆👍 What workouts do you do at home? Try these: Ab 🚲 Bikes!
The ab bike is a great movement to hit all of your ab muscles with one exercise.
1. Lay flat on your back, with your feet extended in front of you.
2. Bend your elbows, placing your hands at the side of your head (you can rest them behind your head, never pull on your neck)!
3. Bend your knees at a 90 degree angle with your hips.
4. Cycle between bringing your opposite elbow and knee to each other, whilst extending your other leg outwards as shown. Your legs should circle around like they would if you were riding a bike.

Great workout this morning in the Amputee Torture Chamber with a little help from Coach Evelyn 😂😂😂

Hit the rower for a 4 minute endurance test followed by some core work, then 25 minutes HIIT on the bike, more core work and a nice stretch off.

At the minute I’m trying to chase my 4 minute PB with the intention of improving my technique and still being able to breath at the end so that when I do go flat out and maintain a good technique in theory I should smash through it and as it stands things are going quit nicely 😉 🤙🏻

So what does the rest of the day have in store! Conference calls, Skype meetings, prep and practice for upcoming talks, shot putt and discuss training, car valeting, admin runs and emails 😫😫😫

Life’s like riding a bike, if you stay still or stop moving you’ll fall off bike (unless it’s a hand bike 😂😂😂)

The swell of a great relationship evolves over time much like the reef of a great break. Without positive reinforcement and a conservationists attitude the power and shape of the wave of friendship will erode and go flat. In between the sets of connectivity we must remember that these important people in our lives are still riding the their own breaks in their attempts to get better for the winter months. With God’s grace eventually we will link up to drop in together on the monsters of life howling with hilarious hysteria and pausing in gratitude for the green flash. Alto El Escobero (from Envigado): El Escobero Pass is a 9.6 kilometre long climb with an average gradient of 9.7 % and a maximum slope of 18%. Over this distance, you climb 931 metres.
First kilometre is not so hard, crossing beside shopping malls and residential buildings, but it helps to warm up for the second km which is one of the hardest, with an average slope of 12%. After this second kilometre the city is left behind and the slope keeps burning your legs. This is definitely the hardest part of the climb, fighting inclines between 15% and 16%. There is a very narrow bend called El Guayabo, it’s so hard that you might not be able to stay on the saddle.
After approximately 5 km, we find the only part of the climb that offers a “rest”, a whole kilometre between 5%-6% which feels like if it was flat terrain. It's a good moment to eat something and drink some water. At this point, you will probably realize how hard the climb is, with a lot of suffering and sweating, knowing that you are barely in the middle of the climb.
With 4.6 kilometres remaining, you will face a road fork, indicating a road that goes up and one that goes down. This part is really enjoyable due to the great atmosphere of tropical forests and small waterfalls, but really hard as well with an initial ramp of 15%.
The last 3 kilometres offers an average slope of 11% with challenging ramps at 16%, you will be riding through a narrow road with nice views of green mountains and fresh air.
Last kilometre is still hard with an average slope of 7%, but the motivation to reach the top of the summit and the nice smell of the tropical forest, helps you feel stronger. Once you get to the top, around 2.519 m.a.s.l., you will have overcome one of the five hardest climbs in the region of Antioquia.

It’s still weird to me to wake up like this. Maybe because I’m not “shredded” most of the time and I usually wake up pretty flat but Saturday I ate about 3,000 calories and 500 carbs to prepare for a harder bike ride and Sunday I had a little more calories than a normal day after riding 52 miles with 4997 ft of elevation. So the result was waking up a little heavier as expected and with a lot more glycogen and vascularity. .
.
As a naturally vascular person one thing I haven’t been able to achieve is extremely vascular legs since body fat is never quite low enough in my lower body but I think this might be the year. I reckon I have another 6 to 7 more lbs to go until I’m content with stage conditioning. This morning I was 147.8 and the lowest so far was Saturday at 144.8 lbs. the human body is cool AF man. .
.
Today I’m back to my normal macros of 50 fat, 175 carbs and 175 protein and hoping to weigh in at 143 to 144 by Friday. I’m entering my first bike race on Saturday (probably going to get destroyed) so I’m probably going to eat a lot on Friday. Thursday is my birthday but I’m not celebrating until Saturday night. Can we get a new low by Friday? Yes, I think so. .
.
Have a good week! .

It looks like you got to a little bit of a deep distance .That is always preferable than arriving long and weak .Riding up to a little bit of a snug distance only sharpens a good jumping pony (?) like yours by encouraging him to get his front legs up and out of the way fast . Your pony doesn't use his neck much in the air ,but that doesn't bother me at all . You have a bit of hunch in your back ,This is usually a result of riding to the jump with to deep and driving seat .( this may also explain the deep distance ) Avoid "pushing" on the approach to jumps. It;s smoother ,easier and you'll produce more clear rounds by setting a pace ,and then do your best to find the distances out of that given pace . Also try to arrive at the base with your weight supported by your heels and avoid riding behind the motion .Whether you approach in a full seat or a half seat ,you'll be more effective "with the motion " with a flat ( not rounded ,or arched back ) . You will also loose that ducking look with your head when you don't leave the ground from the back seat of the saddle . I can't see your leg because of the standard and flag ,but if I had to guess,I'd say you may want to ride a hole longer . A short stirrup cramps your position and can contribute to riding behind the horse's center .This can lead to a sore back . The horse's back is strongest where the shoulders ,back and withers converge .That's where you want to spend your time !!! I hope this resonates for you .Lastly I love some of the obstacles I see in the background . There is nothing more empowering than jumping something nice and solid or over a ditch or up and down a bank .I wish we had more jumping derbies here in California's show jumping scene . Have a great Summer !!!” Guest Judged by Kevin McGinn

You look very experienced , so I’m not going to go into a ton of theory and cartwheels. You look like you learned how to ride , and slowly and gradually picked up very typical habits . I’m just gonna give you the list in order of importance
#1. Your heel is level +. That stiffens your calf . Deprives you of necessary leverage to regulate as well as your 1st line defense shock absorber
2 . Your seat is way above the horse as a result of the loss of your base . This may work on a flat style jumping horse over a tiny jump like this.
But it won’t take you much further.
3. Your back is nice and flat ( a sign of your past training ). But bc. You don’t have a real base , you have turned to an over dependence on your crest release instead. This is wrong minded as some day ,something unexpected will happen to you using these adoptive techniques and you will lose your perch
You are looking off to the right
I can not determine if you really are planning to turn or if this is a more personal style.
You might be thinking “ man , he’s harsh “. Right about now. Well I feel you have / can and must review your basic skills
I see this kind of riding a lot. I have news for you. If you are doing the the same level of work that you were doing 6 months. A year or longer ago , in fact you aren’t staying the same , you’re going backwards.
You’ve spent more money , your horse is older , if you’re a junior , college may be looming. I’m usually much more nurturing. But my instinct tells me , I have not listed one thing you don’t already know. In fact I’ve had more than one career. What I have learned in this confluence of educations is in the end “ You have to kick your own butt , at the end of the day “. Take this in the spirit it was written. We have to all constantly take an unflinching sincere look at both our strengths and weakness.
Acknowledge your skills ( nothing holds a rider back like self centered / false timidity ) and work on your weakness consistently. This takes personal courage. Most people avoid introspection. But I KNOW you have ridden better and perhaps just got caught in a rut. Life Happens! (Cont in comments below.)

Hi there !! Thank you for sending this in .I have a few concerns here .Your horse seems to have just cantered over this vertical ,rather than actually jump over it.Evidence of this are his uneven knees and lack of any sense of doing much more than "hanging out" over this vertical .This is actually rather unsafe jumping ,as it is quite easy for such a complacent style of jumping easily translate into getting "hung up" and have a rotational fall .This is a catastrophic event .and must be avoided at any cost. Sadly a leading cause of of this particular type of fall is caused by the most timid riding . In other words ,fear of going an appropriate pace ( about 13 mph) causes far more serious events . Additionally what little pace ( and energy ) that you arrived at the base with ,was met with even more interference by a restraining hand Again this unwillingness to "let go " and get going with real confidence and enough pace . I would urge you to back up and review your basic flat work ,as it applies to jumping .Before I forget ,It looks like you have a "2 ring snaffle " in your horses mouth. I have never found a horse that jumped well in one of those in the family of "leverage bits " that did not jump BETTER in a standard bit .Again I feel a basic misunderstanding in the principles in your flat work . Use a classic jointed snaffle .no martingales at home ,ever . You need to stop thinking of keeping your horses head down and start getting his butt in gear . Practice canter and counter canter .I get no sense that you value the principles of riding the "back end of the horse " The reins should be the last resort ,not your default Counter canter is a real game changer .Work with your trainer ,as this exercise demands not only riding from back to front (leg to rein) ,but creating a horse's "center " by not only coordinating driving and restraining aids ,but developing a strong independent seat ,upper body and elastic arms. Lots of carnage, starting with a shredded trailer tire and broken trailer leaf spring pulling into camp lol. Super time on the poker run with everyone, and later on Cheyenne was able to get out and ride her ttr! She did really well, I'm a proud man! Sunday, we got off to a great start. @bsmile_766 started the race for us on my 450, got a great start, and picked off a ton of the first wave guys. Bree put in an amazing ride and came into the pit somewhere in the top 35 overall, and what we were told and saw to be first in our class (team). He handed the bike off to me and I left the pit feeling great. Only about 4 miles into my lap I obtained a rear flat. With how good we were doing I decided to say F my wheel, and keep railing. I was able to keep pace and lead (that we believe we were in) over the next 20 miles going pretty damn fast on a flat until tragedy struck right before race mile 75. The tube got jammed in the chain guide, all the wire from the tire wrapped around the wheel, tire was completely off the rim, and it wouldn't even roll. I spent the next near hour removing everything, with the help of some great SJMC sweeps! My dad also saw me on the side of the trail, and being the great dad he is, stopped and hung out with me, and ended up riding with me until I was able to get back. I zip tied was was left of the tire to the rim and carried on my way. I only made it another half mile before that failed. I then decided to take my pocket knife and cut the tire off. Slung it around my chest like Miss Americas sash and kept riding on just the rim. The next 7 miles of trail to the next check point was pretty rough! From there I peeled off at the check and took roads back to camp. Ended up riding about 11 or 12 miles on straight rim! I'd like to thank everyone that stopped and helped, was there for support in the pits, my brother Breelan for the fantastic first lap he threw down for us, and everyone else that was supporting us this weekend! We will definitely be back for the win next year! #damnflats #moussetubesnexttime

Ok, so if you were wondering what a bike race is like now you know! These four clips are cut from a 22 minute clip from the start to me getting dropped off the back. Road races are generally raced as a group. When a few people go ahead of the peloton (group) that’s called a breakaway. When a few people fall off the back that’s called getting dropped. I got dropped. This was cat 5 which is novice. It was my first race and a couple others as well. .
.
There were 16 total to start this 48 mile race (two 24 mile laps with some rolling hills and one big hill around mile 12 I think it was). .
.
You can see the speed, my heart rate and the cadence on the screen. I was shocked at the speed. 27 mph on flat land was surprising to me. At the end of the day, I need to pedal faster and get stronger on the bike if I want to be competitive. .
.
I will get better. There is another road race 9/22 that I’m likely going to do. It’s super flat I’ve heard. Check the 4th video on here if you want to see the moment I get flicked off the back of the group and never see them again lol. .
.
I kind of want to try the criterium this weekend in Pleasanton but I also don’t think I should risk crashing as it’s much more dangerous and I’m super close to these two bodybuilding shows. .

Today we took her to the flat ground at a local park and off she went with no issue at all. I’m so proud to have my first child riding a bike properly. She’s only 5 years old!! Freya is 9 but sadly due to her hyper mobility she doesn’t have the strength to do normal things like swimming unaided and riding a bike and this has been known to cause panic attacks. What age were you or your child when they learnt to ride a bike unaided?

Tomorrow I fly back to Amsterdam, collect all my camera gear, stop over in Ohio for the wedding of @saraheroyal and @deverteuil, then end up at home. Some trip notes, because you asked. .

You don’t need to ride for freakin ever or cover crazy miles to have an experience or feel like you’ve traveled a far distance. I probably took 2 hours to go the first 20 miles on a flat road today; I could have happily stopped for the day, cause I was investigating and sniffing and photographing everything like a doggo who doesn’t want the walk to end. It was liberating. Sometimes I get in the mindset that a good ride has to be a long ride, and that’s just not always the case. .

Love and couples: Italy is full of both, it seems. There’s an abundance of unbridled affection here, between parents, family members, friends. The tender physicality of expressed love here is so wonderful to see, yet also so novel to me. Makes me really realize how sadly absent it is in the States. People lean on each other here, even through the oldest of age. .

In Switzerland, people were very unsurprised I’d be riding solo through the Alps, but everywhere in Italy there’s been a confusion that I’d be riding and traveling alone. At restaurants, proprietors look around and say “solo??” when I ask for a table, as if I couldn’t *possibly* be dining alone. Perhaps it’s symptomatic of living in big cities but in the Italian countryside I’ve transported to a more traditional era and a much more languid pace to the day. Which for me, is exotic, but I could also see how it’s incredibly stifling. Every town is physically centered around a church, I’ve gotten tons of side eye for having nail polish (or maybe because it’s just because it’s quite chipped by now🤷‍♂️)... anyway, half thought and I don’t want to get into the very loaded zone of religion at the moment. .

Traveling and riding solo for 9 days. Not for me. It’s been cool to be able to call the shots on routes, eating, and copiously stopping sometimes every goddamn 15 feet for photos but on the whole this was an experiment and now I know I prefer to share these experiences, with friends or partners or both.

In April I tried riding flat pedals to better understand what it’s like to keep your feet on the pedals without clips. I taught three camps in flats and felt fine, but decided to go back to clipping in for rowdier riding. Yesterday I did a photoshoot with two ripping shredders (@kate.or.di & @sage_cattabriga_alosa) up at @mtbachelor and I forgot my clip-in shoes but had my flat shoes and an extra set of flat pedals in the van, so I had to change it up. 😳 I was already nervous to shoot with these two, so it didn’t help that I was flying off the pedals with every jump or jib I tried and I felt like a mess. 😬 It proved I need more time on flats, it showed me I rely on clips a lot and it reminded me it’s ok to be uncomfortable and not ride your best as long as you have a good attitude. 🤪 So the dilemma between riding flats or clipped in continues with me. I prefer to be clipped in, but I’m going to keep working on improving my riding in flats... 😬💪🏼 #ridebikesbehappy #howweliv #livbeyond

Thank you very much for sending this photo in !! It's a good one .It was shot from a very good angle which allows me to see all the moving parts !! So lets talk about them .But first I'd like to compliment you on your appearance .Clearly riding is a top priority for you .Clean riding pants ,gloves (which are a personal preference ) a clean shirt and a well fitted helmet with your hair out of site is how it should be. I know hair hair everywhere seems to be the accepted "look " but it would not work at my stable ,any clinic from anybody who cranks out professional riders and though it occasionally slips into the jumper ring ,it is not considered proper attire (except braids for children ) .I am here to advise . I would like point people in the "better " direction ...and you just made me( and every traditionalist ) feel much better .On the "up side " your back looks flat ,not stiff and your eyes are attached to some endpoint .It's real . I can spot the deer in the headlight effect a mile away ,and that';s not you .You are engaged .BTW I will just say here .I never teach (and always clarify the teachers I teach ) to NEVER tell the student to gaze past the jump . I always apply upward .What I mean The basics I teach beginners are the same I've told kids jumping in big classes . You wouldn't look away from a 1.30 M jump I hope .The eye needs to stay on the closest ,highest element until you arrive to the place 1 step out which is where it drops out of sight for the horse .Horses have binocular vision .That means that they do not see that close up and essentially make a mental "snap shot " just before they take off and jump strictly out of memory . That's why it's essential to not make any big move at the base of the jump. Now ..don't hate me ,but I'd like you to take a few weeks over the Summer and jump a little smaller . Because I see a few things that can be worked out in smaller jumps or poles on the ground . I;m not saying you can't have an occasional thrill , but you have a few chinks...” read the full post from Kevin McGinn on Judge My Ride Facebook

Your position is "spot on " for this level of showing . It looks like you are planning on landing and going someplace "right" Yes?? O.K . I like your "roomy release" you are opting for allowing your horse to do his job unfettered .I'm all for that ......for now .In a year ,that would not indicate you've accepted enough responsibility for piloting the "ship " but as you are just getting started , a strong position ,learning how to master show nerves ,remembering the courses and adding one layer of a short term goal is a lot .An example of a short term goal could be as simple as getting a better start in your opening circle to nail fence one ,or staying on your count in the first related line as to confirm you are carrying enough pace ,or riding a smooth series of downward transitions and leaving the ring elegantly instead of like an unmade bed !!! Pick one thing per day to work on and get that designated skill into the "habit column " Good habits can shape up quickly by coming from a place of "intention " rather than "Hope " or "Luck" .We run out of Luck and Hope often .....it's Habits that stay with us in the times we need some help .!! Before I talk about your horse I'll just caution you to avoid the tendency to arch your back .This could just be the angle of the camera , but I still hear people telling their students to "arch their back " This is never correct . The large muscles surrounding the lumbar section of your back are key shock absorbers . And arched back is a rigid back .This is especially true if you want to ride with an educated seat .The back is flat .Not round shouldered nor stiff and sway backed .As I said ,it's hard to see from this angle ,but this is most likely the most deleterious habit I see in intermediate riding and will always take a moment to discourage even a "whiff " of it !!!!!Can you tell ,I really have an opinion here ??? lol (Cont below!)

She dumped her rider in the flat class, then gave me a clear round in cross rails followed by dumping me in the other two cross rails class by jumping huge and as soon as she lands dropping her head and spinning. I’ll save that video for another day when my pride has healed a bit.
This was her clean round. It felt like riding a freight train and I had to ride very defensively and back even though it was a hunter class. Even still, the video looks way more calm than it felt believe it or not. I’m very happy she still placed 6th in a large class in this round, but we didn’t show up for ribbons.
I’d hoped her tantrums were a mental thing and that entering her in the other two cross rail classes after this would get her past them. Normally you can expect a horse to get more comfortable with each round when basically nothing changes. This schooling show didn’t have a warm up ring with jumps so I kind of just had to go for it.
Once we got to the trailer and untacked I noticed what the problem probably was: her front boots were way too tight on her shins. We’d never worn them before (they’re really nice show boots that we got to borrow) and they were notched the same as they had been for a horse of seemingly similar build. But they were way too tight and looked uncomfortable at best. This would explain why her tantrums started on the backside of the jump when her front feet hit the ground.
That, paired with the oncoming storm and her first time being in such a big atmosphere, didn’t result in the showing I was hoping for. I feel like I made the best decisions I could in the moment and I’m glad we went but obviously I’m walking away from this with a new appreciation for when this mare and her huge heart shout “No!”.

Start as poles on the ground and work w your groundsman .To do this 2 jump crew are helpful unless they are fast ..because of the horses' attention span .a 20 minute school over jumps 2 times a week is good to not get green horses quick ,cranky or overfaced by life . As you build the oxers keep them all the same height ..and square ..no ground rails or polo wraps ever .Let the last element be a bit smaller .In that way the horse realizes after a lot of effort an easier way out ENCOURAGES the horse through Building higher and higher and higher still at the last element as 95 % of trainers apply them is patently wrong messaging Think about it from a horse's point of view Become a horses mind ( momentarily ) !! t's the only way .Practice your flat without irons on anything safe you can lay your hands on and work at canter .Two fingers under the pommel stretch up and open your stomach and chest .Do this a lot When you jump think "HEEL and MANE !!!NOT "SNAP" Pinch the mane with your thumb and 1st finger and try to pull it out with heels and shoulder blades Muscle Memory and repetition .Kick your own B^t until you're like Iron . The first thing that jumps out is that step ladder next to the jump .Now we both know that a mounting block costs about $25 dollars and having one in the ring is extremely convenient . That said using a step ladder is NOT a safe way to mount . 1st they afre not stable on soft footing .2nd they make noise and lastly a horse that's squirmy about mounting can easily get a leg through those rungs and then it's anybody's guess as to how that ends up. I can promise it won't be a great out come . Shortcuts aren't solutions and that's a particularly dangerous (yet common) substitution. I'm also curious why your oxer is "ramped " so dramatically. An oxer should be square or slightly ramped .What has been set for you is in fact a bit more like a vertical (the back rail ) while the very low front rail acts more like a pushed out ground line . This encourages a slow front end and a "casual" pair of knees . More concerning is the increased risk of the average horse getting a leg stuck between front and back rail . That said your horse is jumping this unconventional set very well and your take off spot is near perfect . I'm wondering why your horses ears are back ???? That often goes hand in hand with horses that get "quick " in the air .Squaring that front rail will give any horse a new level of respect for every jump which will keep him careful and you SAFE!! Your white shirt is spotless which tells me riding is important to you and you " get" the benefit of details !!! Your back is flat ,as it should be ,but it may be a bit rigid . There's also a feel of tension in your release . I'd allow my hands to be off to the side of the crest rather than bracing on the top of the mane. One reason is you don't need that much support because your leg position is great and with a lower hand .you'll be on your way toward having a straighter line from your elbow to the bit. I love your horse’s expression and gleaming coat and intelligent eye and ears confirm for me he is very well cared for ( I assume by you ). Good Job !! . As far as your horses jumping style, it’s a very small jump, so he’s not overly impressed He’s exerting the correct amount of effort for a jump of that size. His technique is economical and seems quite confident, I like your extra long release. But I’m going to say that in time a little length of rein will allow you to have more control on the landing side of the jump . Your heel “wants “ to go down, but because your foot has slipped through the irons ,you don’t have the leverage to allow your ankle to flex, and for your heel to get deeper.. Your position is all business ! I would encourage you to think about relaxing the large muscles across the small of your back as you want a flat relaxed back , rather than a pronounced arch . Lastly , I’m just jealous that that great venue !! It’s rustic fences and green rolling hills are amazing !! It looks like you’re “ full steam ahead “ so just keep doing what you’re doing !!! For 2018 Lewis has worked with DTRA's Anthony Brown to put together 2 separate training programs during his visit to England. First training option is a 1 day event Wednesday May 16th at Rye House where Lewis will provide a break down of dirt track training on the loose soil much like the Peterborough event that Lewis took the win in all Pro and Hooligan races last years event. Going over body position, line section, bike control, track changing conditions, bike set up and more. Lewis offers his years of experience racing in the American Flat Track Championship to a max of 10 DTRA riders and even future DTRA riders for this one day training program. Riders must provide own bikes and gear for training. $220GBP for 1 day.
The biggest announcement for Lewis' 2018 visit is the 10 Training 3 Day experience at the Greenfield Facility from May 10-13th. Much like the 3 day experience at the 10 Training Facility in Florida, USA, Lewis will provide a very detailed training experience with more in depth training for up to 10 riders. Over the 3 days, Lewis' approach is to build the program around each rider and offer a very one on one training experience that will cover everything from riding techniques to mental and physical training habits to better a rider on and off the bike throughout the season and for years to come. Its suggested to bring a training bike such as a CRF100/125, up to a 150cc for day one and then race bike for day two and three including TT set up as well. (Greenfield can rent you a CRF125 if required). $550GBP for 3 day.
In addition to the training, Lewis will be bringing over the whole family on this trip that includes his wife and two younger children. Over the last two years Lewis has enjoyed his time and the people he has met in England that he wanted to share this experience with them as well and is very honored to be returning to England with such a welcoming.

To wake up my son on his 11th birthday and take him to school.
The last 11 years I’ve learned more about what’s important in life. About myself. What’s the one thing that means most? Time......That’s right. Time. You can buy your child a toy, tablet, video game what ever. But to be patient and let them explore and share their thoughts and dreams is priceless. I’ve learned being a parent is not working 6-7 days a week for 1 day off. Taking care of my health as long as my sons. When ur on the freeway and the [email protected]@hole cuts u off and u see ur child sleeping in the back seat......just let it go. If he barley passes a test not getting 100% still let them know just how proud I am of his work efforts. Notice the little things like I always have a pen in my pocket.......my son has started keep a pen in his pocket just like Dad. Shake hands firm and introduce yourself with confidence, never a limp handshake. Yuck..... Teaching him to change a car tire if he gets a flat. Be respectful to adults and others. Open the door for others. Never hit girls. Even if their mean! Comb your own hair. Never interrupt in adult conversations and correct them. Mom is always right......when she’s wrong....she’s still right.
Being a parent you can’t just call in sick or take a day off. Limiting the time on the electronics....not just him but for myself as well.
Many of these things are life lessons my father has imbedded in me. I love my Dad so. Best Dad in the world to me. And grandfather too.
I’ve only touched on a small percentage of my last 11 years and look forward everyday coming home to my son.
Now I need to cut this short because I need to check the air pressure in his new bmx bike he hasn’t seen yet because we are going bike riding after school!
I Love you son,
Happy Birthday Donavan
Love Dad

Thanks for this ! !I only wish I could've seen what happened after the jump as well .A jump isn't the "end " of the idea .A Line has a beginning .a middle and and an end ..or result . All 3 are interconnected . So ,based on what's here ,it's in pretty good shape .Here's what I would suggest . Rather than being all the way out on the short side of the rail,I'd have you a bit more on a middle track .Rather than following the fence ,You could be independent of that, and instead be riding a pre-approach . That like would be defined by the jump you intend to jump .That is more relative . In that way you are able to stay out and ride as square turn ( which is the most powerful turn ) .You came from really far away ,like you would in a hunter ring at a show .Sadly you were a bit on a 4 beat canter ,which doesn't give you many options in creating a distance .(that's your job) You are experienced ,and so beyond just being relieved that you "see" the distance and make it work ( which you did ) ,you might carry a little more compressed and lively canter ( not faster ) livelier .Pay attention to the turn to your address to the jump .Even though it may "look " soft and sweeping ,in fact in your mind 's eye ,imagine a more square turn .In that way you won't fall in too soon .That happened a bit here .Granted the camera angle wasn't ideal ,but I think you lost a little gallop because your horse wasn't terribly mindful of your inside leg . You have a good eye ,so you made the distance work really well . Maybe some more advanced work on the flat like counter canter with your coach to guide you would get a better cadence and consistency in your hand gallop and more sense of being "carried " rather than helping so much . Introduce counter canter incrementally .Just ride the long sides ..then walk It's a super exercise to compress the canter ,and gives it life ,but it takes a good set of eyes on the ground to not over face or over exert your horse ,who by the way is really adorable !! Good Luck. (Cont. Below!)

Flat Bench, T-Bar Row, Machine Fly, Cable Row and Bicep Curls 🤟🏽

Haven't weighed myself but likely around 175lbs (5ft9), which for me usually requires a considerable effort to go beyond - one which is probably not feasible at the moment, also undesirable since it's around this weight I start to feel like a big useless fucker (regardless of your own subjective opinion of what's 'big') - and I like my cardio when it's possible 😅

Going to Turkey on 26th 👍🏽🇹🇷 Currently ~12-14% body fat and would like to tighten up a bit before going as well as be a bit lighter / more athletic cos gonna be riding bicycles and horses. Also some hiking and swimming, obviously 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a couple of coaching vacancies to fill beginning mid-late this month and more beginning early May - covering 12 weeks so effectively taking you into Summer. Drop me an e-mail (in bio) for further details 🤙🏽

Have yourselves a most enjoyable Sunday 👊🏽😎

Joggers: @physiqapparel - 'MIGUEL10' to save 🤟🏽

I'm just so proud of Sage's two wheeled achievements in Holland. In less than a week, he's transformed from a child who understood the basics of riding but lacked much road awareness and confidence, to one who can now pedal safely on a public road and cover distances of up to 30km in a day (granted, they're flat kilometres, but still, they're kilometres!) Best of all, he had a brilliant holiday in the process; much of the time, we could barely keep up with him!
Exploring Holland in our own, modest way has provided the perfect chance to develop these skills - like negotiating junctions, watching out for pedestrians, overtaking slower riders, being overtaken by speedy roadies - away from the stressful arena of high consequence car traffic. Not only does the country's bike lane infrastructure lend itself perfectly to teaching two wheeled confidence to young children, it serves to instil an awareness of the viability of bicycles as an alternative to cars, at such a crucial, impressionable age. No wonder so many Dutch see riding bikes as a completely normal activity, wherever they are cars owners or not; their approach to both urban living and local recreation is completely inspiring. It might not be the most adventurous destination in the world, but still, I'd encourage everyone to plan a bike holiday to the Netherlands at some point. And for those with a child, it's sure to help jump-start their journey into the joys of cycling. #cyclingutopia #cyclesense

Here is one more reason I absolutely LOVE my @altamotors #RedshiftMx and #RedshiftMxr ...less maintenance! (Every parent knows how important every single minute is! Parents of twins know exactly what’s up...if you’ve got triplets or quadruplets...God Bless Your Soul 😆😂🙏🏻🙏🏻).
To show you proof, I’ve captured some photos of how I maintain my bikes.
After a day of riding, I get the power washer out and spray the ol girl off. After a quick dry (doesn’t take long in this 100+ degree weather. Better have a towel ready or your bike will be water-spotted for sure!) I get the wrenches out and nut & bolt the bike, check spokes, tighten the chain if needed, and hit it with some lubricant.
After that, I check the oil view window on the side case. If the oil is below the half way point, I add a little oil (very little oil is in these bikes. And, the bike uses an extremely small amount...Over the past 10 months I have added about 2 ounces of oil total between both my #RedshiftMx and #RedshiftMxr).
After checking the oil, which usually results in no additional oil being needed, I check the coolant level by removing one 8mm bolt and one 6mm allen-head bolt. Like the oil, these bikes use very little coolant. But, every few rides or so, I do add an ounce or 2.
Once the coolant is checked/ topped off I break out the charger, plug it into the wall, and plug the opposite cable into my bike. From a completely flat/dead battery the bike will be fully charged in 2 hours. On days when I plan to ride A LOT, or be out at the track all day, I bring my charger and generator. I’ll charge my bike in between riding sessions for about 15-20 minutes while I’m drinking a @monsterenergy or stretching my hamstrings, ya know, whatever. That way, the bike is always topped up, and I can ride all day long. I love it.
No more oil changes, oil filters, air filters, cleaning out the air box, making sure no dirt went through or got by the air filter & into the air-boot...
This bike is a game changer.

TRIP REPORT: This morning I finished up a long time goal of riding San Francisco - San Luis Obispo. A little over 300 Miles (with a few detours) of possibly the best coastal riding anywhere. Yesterday was the biggest leg stretching from Santa Cruz - Ragged Point 145 miles. Here is a mileage breakdown of the experience.
. * 4:00 am wake up & ate soggy leftover sweet Potato fries from the night before w/ extra salt. Already sore from SF-SC 80 mile leg the day prior. * Mile 1-50 fog was so thick it drenched our clothes & felt like salty rain. Smell of eucalyptus filled our lungs as we passed Soquel & made our way through endless strawberry fields & empty roads
* Mile 50-67 ate a donut, açaí, matcha latte in Monterey & killed some time along 17 mile drive while the fog began to clear. Drinking as much water as possible
* Waited in Carmel for a partner & ate a whole bag of salt & pepper chips & salad.. took shoes off fell asleep on a bench. * Woke up thirsty & drank a limonata & bought sour gummies at gas station before realized my back tire was going flat. While fixing I accidentally pulled out the valve stem, reinserted after asking people for tools - filled via C02
* Mike 67-80 rode to Big Sur river and climbed one of the biggest longest hills of my life. Legs were starting to feel it. Moving slow while some people yelled & honked at us while we moved along the gravelly dirt non-existent shoulder. Soaked body & mind in the river for 30 minutes & let the cold water do its thing to the muscles. Washed away the anxiety from the road. Sun was baking. Tourists were in full affect but luckily no cell service so most people focused on the road.
. * Mile 100 I knew it was time to celebrate because a bumble bee flew in my mouth, luckily gag reflex kicked in & bee flew out. Ate pastries & rice Krispy treat & moved on. Someone yelled ‘I follow you on instagram’ from their car.. made my day.
* Mile 120 Less & less cars on the road & finally some downhill stretches. Clocked our fastest time at 42 mph. I could feel wind starting to pick me up. 🙁 climbed to Lucia for a final H20 stop, they had its-it ice cream sandwich which increased the stoke big time -

Mi hermano @ferrancardus77 driving it into the corner hard to win the second round of the @coparodi dirt track championship at his home track @roccosranch at @circuitdebcncat ✊🏽🏁 Ferran, his brother @rickycardus88 along with friends and family have been working non stop to build a first class flat track and motocross facility in the same exact area that the King Kenny Roberts ran his dirt track riding school in the 80’s just outside the famous GP track in Barcelona Spain. I’m super proud of Ferran and his accomplishments in such a short time. His potential is huge, we need a talent like his in the sport of flat track. See you next month bro!! 😜👊🏼

One of the funnest days riding bc there was no pressure, no incompetent judges, just riding and innovation and progression through the art of filming and going big af. This was the true root of inspiration behind the Ride to the Hills philosophy, which was freeriding, rider judged, tv/filming event, like that of backcountry snowboarding where athletes make contracts on the premise of bad ass video parts. #ridetothehills #flatliner #nofootednac #globaladdiction #itiswhatitis #mannys #220feet

I think we may have found the very best activity for sensory input for Oliver AND it expends a lot of energy making bedtime much easier. 🙌🏽 We take the kids for bike rides a few days a week either downtown or at a park, but’s it’s always flat ground and they ride on hills at home, but they can only do a short run before they have to get off and walk the bike back up the hill.
.
My brother loves mountain biking and we thought it would be really cool if he had something he does with the kids that’s kind of their “thing”. So we went to the mountains last weekend and they had the time of their lives.
.
I never thought trail riding to be sensory input, but I kept noticing Ollie intentionally going over the rocks and bumps rather than around them. Then he’d turn around and go over the same rock again and again, constantly seeking input.
.
They rode for two hours straight and would have kept going if the sun hadn’t set. I have never seen Ollie so happy and content for such a long period of time doing the same activity. Because of sensory processing disorder, we are constantly redirecting and engaging him in activities morning till night that give him proprioceptive input but without destroying everything he touches because his brain has a hard time regulating how much force he’s using. It feels like a full time job. 🙈
.
Also, a tip on teaching kids to ride a bike...start them on a balance bike (a bike with no petals and no training wheels) then once they have learned to balance and steer they can use a regular bike and the transition is so easy and there’s never a need for training wheels. Ollie got a balance bike for his second birthday and then got a regular bike for his third birthday and has been riding on two wheels ever since. He’s never had training wheels a day in his life. He could have been on one even sooner than three but we were holding out to get him a new bike for a birthday and not just because. Now he’s mountain biking at three years old and tearing up trails better than I can. And I’m so very thankful for brothers who love my kids well.
