In this supplemental variation to build pain-free muscle for the shoulders, front raise figure 8's jack up the time under tension for the delts and work to introduce movement into the 'conventional' front raise exercise.

You can use this as a superset with a heavy pressing movement or as a pre-fatigue to the same heavy press exercise. The combinations are pretty limitless.

Your upper chest fibres primary function is adduction - bringing your humerus (upper arm) across the body towards the side of the chest with some sort of upward/incline angle (no shit sherlock!). But are you really doing an incline movement? Or are you just doing a flat press, whilst sat on an incline bench?

The set-up of every exercise is the first most important thing. The second most important thing is your hand width (your forearms should be vertical at the bottom of the lift, or just inside, on this exercise). The third most important thing is your chest angle. You can see in the picture that a large arch in your back (which a lot of people have) when doing an 'incline' bench simply decreases your chest angle almost putting you in the traditional horizontal 'flat' bench position, which will be working more of the sternum fibres and taking emphasis & load away from your clavicle fibres (upper chest).

Putting your feet on a bench in front of you will help keep your lower back flat and keep the load on the upper chest.

I utilized a 24kg KB (highest the gym has) for volume sets of 25+ reps each set (4 sets total). My position is key: 1️⃣wider ... ✅SEATED KB UPRIGHT ROWS✅ I also like to refer to these as “Swimmers.” INCREDIBLE 🔥 for the delts! This absolutely lights up the entire shoulder crest, from front to back.
I utilized a 24kg KB (highest the gym has) for volume sets of 25+ reps each set (4 sets total). My position is key:
1️⃣wider leg stance
2️⃣knees laterally loading outward
3️⃣hands FIRM on that KB handle, thinking of driving and pulling with my elbows and not lifting with the hands themselves
4️⃣torso is stiff however I am acquiring slight hip flexion with maintaining a neutral spine, by dropping forward on the downward portion of the movement
5️⃣Keeping the KB close to the body on the downward, however as I drive into the concentric portion of the lift, I’m “scooping” the KB subtly out away from my body, as my elbows flare to the ceiling
6️⃣Rhythm and overall constant flow is a must! The overhead walking lunge is a weighted variation of walking lunges that works the entire body and involves nearly every muscle group. By holding weights overhead, you build upper and lower body strength, increase the power and propulsion of your legs, improve core strength and stability, balance, and what's called proprioception (spatial orientation of your body).

1-Hold a weight plate, weighted bar, dumbbells, or slam ball/ exercise ball over your head. Don't be passive, press up at all times.
2-Keep the weight directly overhead in line with the shoulder joint and take a comfortable step forward into a deep lunge position. Make sure your forward knee remains over your forward foot and not in front of it.
3-Keep your core braced and press hard overhead the whole time. Try to maintain perfect posture throughout the movement. Keep your head level, your eyes straight ahead, your chest high, and your back flat. Do not bend your elbows or let your core sink during the movement.

Although there are many muscles to release in conjunction to exercise to get frozen shoulder better, sometimes this muscle can be a game changer for many. Hidden away and tucked between the front of the scapula and ribcage it may seem impossible to reach this muscle to release. But with the right direction you can definitely self treat this muscle.

The subscapularis is one of the 4 rotator cuff muscles. Being the only one situated in the front of the scapula it works to internally rotate and adduct the shoulders. Working with the rest of the rotator cuff muscles it also has the important role to stabilize the humeral head within the glenoid cavity.
Symptoms:
1. Severe pain in the back of shoulders
2. Ache in the back of the wrist
3. Pain in the back of the upper arm
4. Tender spot in the front of the shoulder
5. Clicking and popping sounds at the front of the shoulder
6. Rounded shoulders
7. Restricted shoulder ROM
.
Follow the instructions in the video to treat this muscle. Ease in slowly since there are many sensitive structures like nerves, arteries and veins. If you feel numbness and tingling sensations you may have hit a nerve so back off and start again. If you have had chronic shoulder issues you may need to work this muscle 2 times a day and each time do 10-12 strokes and it may take up to 4-6 weeks for this muscle to fully release. ***Remember be gentle each time!!!

Yesterday @filipina_flexd gave me the keys for the first time ever so I had to put her through one the toughest sets I’ve pick up throughout the years. Arnold Presses for 8-12 Reps superset w/ these Dumbbell Front Delt Fly Variation for 8-12 Reps. I’m sure the second movement is called something else but I couldn’t remember. Comment below if you know what it’s called. 😎🙏🏽 But main point was to completely exhaust our front delts as quickly but effective as possible in order to move on to other heads on the deltoids. I love training with this girl. No complaints, no nagging, always focused and ready to kill whatever I was ready to throw her way. That’s the discipline that will take you places. When you do what is necessary even when you don’t feel like it. Have discipline and motivation well never be needed to get you going!!! 💪🏽😎👌🏽

Happy Fit Friday my fantastic fitness family! Let's talk about a body part that 99.9% of guys covet in the gym: chest! "What ya bench bro?" has been uttered by many a young lad aspiring to have Herculean slabs of meat across their pec region. With all this emphasis on chest on gyms, why is there an Underdeveloped Boob Epidemic™ plaguing the nation? The issue is that most people see the "pecs" as one big muscle, when really it's comprised of two, the pectoralis major and the pec minor. Most people on focus on the major as it's the larger and more superficial of the two, and unfortunately the minor is a bit harder to target. On a compound exercise like the bench press, improper form and ill-advised (read: too heavy) weight selection causes people to overcompensate with front deltoids and triceps. Humble yourself! It's about contractions, not weight! Let the Phit Gawd set you right with a quick, well-rounded workout to get a chest so fluffy that you can put your drink or bae's head on it with pride. 🤗

3-4 sets x 8-10 reps

Smith Machine Guillotine Press:
3-4 sets x12

Machine flyes (pronated grip i.e. palms facing down)

Wide Grip Dips (legs straight and slightly in front of you):

I often unfurl a large paper clip into a straight piece of wire and hold it up to a client's face. I'll then take the wire with both hands and repeatedly bend it back and forth in the same place while saying "front squat, front squat, front squat" until the paper clip finally breaks. As my client's eyebrows start to furrow, I straighten out another paper clip, and instead of bending it back and forth in the same spot, I'll repeatedly bend one end while saying "front squat" and then bend the other end while saying "back squat." It quickly becomes clear that the second paper clip will be able to withstand much more abuse before it finally breaks.

The Lesson: Your body's structures have a limited potential to adapt, so if you chronically use the exact same exercises, your connective tissues – which are typically poorly vascularized compared to muscle tissue – will be more prone to overuse injury. You're likely to be taken by surprise by this injury since most connective tissue has limited neural input to your brain. You won't necessarily be aware of the damage you're doing until it's too late. Be proactive. Rotate your exercises periodically to avoid these problems. The right amount of variation will prevent broken paperclip syndrome.

"No curls💪, no girls🚺🚺🚺. No pecs, no sex!!!" 😂😂😂 Did you know that your biceps can be the cause of your shoulder pain? The bicep has a direct connection to the scapula via coracoid process(short head) and supraglenoid tubercle(long head) and can have a small influence on scapula position. The bicep is a pretty interesting in that it spans 3 joints therefore has multiple functions. If this muscle is shortened due to excessive use such as turning a screwdriver at work, constantly being in a flexed position and overtraining at the gym a few things can happen.
.
1️⃣ It can pull on the coracoid process and anteriorly tilt your scapula.(although pec minor is the main culprit). It can also keep your arm in constant flexion.
2️⃣ It can cause an aching pain in the front of the shoulder that feels close to the surface(not deep pain) and also at the crease of your elbow.
3️⃣ Pain when elevating the arm above shoulder level during flexion and abduction.
4️⃣Weakness in the arm and difficulty in completely straightening the arm with the palm facing down.
5️⃣ Snapping or grating sound from the taut long-head when taking arm out to the side and an associated ache and soreness in the upper trap region.
6️⃣ It can also be mistaken for other conditions such as impingement, bicep tendonitis, subdeltoid bursitis and bicipital bursitis.

▶️ If you've checked all other muscles and still have shoulder pain the bicep can be the missing link. Give it a tenderly rub with you knuckles ✊🏼 a few times a day along the entire length and stretch it out afterwards. Also don't forget about the Infraspinatus muscle that refers to the front of your shoulder too. Work these muscles in combination and see if you get relief!!! 👍

Shoulders are a pretty small muscle group but don’t let that fool you. There are three parts that you need to hit to make sure you fully develop them.

Front delts are easy to target. They get hit with all pressing movements. For that reason, I personally don’t do any isolation exercises for them. Overhead presses and Arnold presses when combined with chest presses should be sufficient. If you don’t think it is, you can do front raises.

Rear delts a bit more difficult to hit. Like front delts get hit with pressing movements, rear delts get hit with all rowing movements. However, I still find most people’s rear delts are underdeveloped when compared to their front delts so I do recommend incorporating isolation exercises. Facepulls are my favorite one.

Side delts are probably the most difficult to develop. They will get hit in addition to front delts with any shoulder press movement but they do not get hit with chest pressing exercises or rowing exercises so they definitely need more isolation work. Some variation of lateral raises will be your best bet. Upright rows are another option but most people do them incorrectly which can cause shoulder issues.

Foot drop from muscular tension or anterior shin splints? Then you need to look at the tibialis anterior muscle. This muscle lies along the outer side of your shin bone and is responsible for dorsiflexion and inversion(turning bottom of foot inwards). These actions allow you to clear your foot off the ground after you have taken a step and is bringing the foot forward for another during gait. Also helps you balance and adapting the foot to the ground.

SYMPTOMS
.
1️⃣ Pain to the top and inner side of the big and to the front of the ankle. Walking makes the pain worst. Occasionally pain may extend partway up the lower leg along side the shin bone. (Travell and Simon 1992)
2️⃣ Pseudo Gout and turf toe
3️⃣ Weakness in the tibialis anterior allows the foot to drop, causing balance issues and falls. (Tripping over your own feet, check this muscle)
.
Long term tension in this muscle can cause shin splints and stress fractures so make sure to take care of them if you do a lot of strenuous running, walking or climbing!!
.
To release this muscle get a chair, bed, bench, sofa etc... to support your upper body. Slowly place the lacrosse ball along the side of the shin and sit your butt back onto the heel. Sitting your butt back applies more pressure,so find your comfortable range!!! Work this muscle from top to bottom so you don’t miss any spots. Once you find a tender spot you can also stay on that spot and move your ankle up and down!!! Have fun!!!

Examples of a few areas:
1) CHEST 🔥
- Ring squeeze
Slightly different to the picture, I would have arms extended out in front of you at shoulder height and fingers extended too with the palms pushing the ring onwards into an oval shape. Squeeze in this position and actively connect mind-muscle
- Push ups
Can also be done on knees. Narrow grip and actively squeeze the chest from the push off and at the top of the movement

2) GLUTES🔥
- Banded glute Bridges
I would try this with the feet slightly turned out and push from the heels. Keep pushing the band out with the knees and hold the squeeze at the top for 2s
- Banded kick backs
This can be done kneeling too. Hold the band in resistance (right of the pic) for a 2s squeeze

3) BACK🔥
- Superman
2s squeeze in superman position

The TFL is a pretty important muscle to release. I would say 95 percent of people will have problems with this muscle. So if you are watching this video you probably fall into this category.
.
▶️The small but powerful Tensor Fascia Latae (TFL) often overlooked can give you a lot of grief until it is released!!! This muscle is located at the front pocket of your hip. It is responsible for flexion, abduction and medial rotation of the hip. Often times the TFL is overactive and shortened overworking for his lazy big brothers the psoas and glute medius. An overworked shortened TFL can cause the following issues:
.
1️⃣ Anterior pelvic tilt due to its attachment to the the front side of the hip and its action of hip flexion.
2️⃣ Deactivate your glute Max since the shortened TFL will lengthen the backside. If you can't fire your glutes while doing leg exercises check this sucker out.
3️⃣ It can medially rotate your femurs in posture and also in movement. If you find your knees caving in while squatting or lunging this might be the culprit.
4️⃣ Pain and soreness in your hip joint and down the side of your thigh during movement.
5️⃣ 💤Sleeping on the affected side will cause discomfort.
6️⃣ It can also cause knee pain or mimic IT Band Syndrome due to its connection to the IT Band.......
7️⃣ Constant low back tension in standing and walking due to increase lordosis.

3) SIT BACK Pretend there's a short stool behind you; bend your knees and hips and sit back as if you were going to sit on that stool, while you reach down to grab onto the barbell (hands shoulder-width apart). Actively push your knees out; don't let them collapse in. Keep your back as straight as you can. Bend from your hips not your waist! Bend your knees and hips just enough to reach and grab onto the bar. This is the starting position for the deadlift.

4)CHECK YOUR GRIP Grasp the barbell with your hands slightly more than shoulder width apart, just outside of your legs. Keep your arms straight. Your palms should face your body, and be equally far from the ends of the barbell.

🧠The key 🔑 to maximally developing any muscle group is to use a healthy mix of heavier and lighter loads and all rep ranges (low, medium, and high). I like Arnold Presses, Landmine Presses, and Hang Snatches for lower reps (3-5) and medium reps (6-10). I like medium to higher reps (8-12+) for all the other moves. Don't be afraid to start your workouts with the single-joint isolation moves to pre-fatigue certain areas and stimulate weak areas when you're most fresh and focused. It also allows lighter loads to go a longer way the rest of the training session. And if you have to pick just one move, the rotational nature of the Arnold Press works all 3 heads of the shoulders and has the biggest bang for your buck!

Joining the show itself was me taking a leap of faith after talking to God and catching on to his answers. I signed up for the show 10 days before and even though the enemy tried to sneak in during that 10 day wait, I knew God had a plan for me so I went through with it. 😅😥 Spiritually, mentally and physically I've learned so much leading up to that moment on stage and after talking to the judges and some really kind/experienced people. It's like a stepstone, it leads us through our whole life and it helps us getting greater personal qualities. You may remember your first workout.. you have made your first exercise, did set for set, rep for rep. Then suddenly your muscle has reached the near end of its power. You feel the burning, the pain - and what happened? - you stopped! You stopped cause it felt unpleasant. You stopped because you were afraid. You stopped because your mind wasn’t strong enough. Now think about what happens if you workout today! You're also doing set for set, rep for rep. Again, the muscle reaches the near end of its power. But! Do you quit? No! You love to feel the burning, the pain. Yes, you're looking forward to it. You're looking forward to the feeling to be stronger than your mind. Your mind has already manifested that it is impossible to do another rep but you did it - incredible. Now look how you act in situations outside of the gym and I am sure you can see the similarities. Sometime it feels like you are standing in front of a big wall and your mind says "there is now way you can climb it..". But you guys have already made the experience, that you can be stronger than your mind. You know that it is easier to quit. But you also know the great feeling of winning and the amazing feeling of beating your fear. Quitting is not an option. No way. In every situation in your life. So Keep up in everything you do. Keep up in every goal you have set. Keep up in everything that you love. Just keep up in everything that feels right for you. What I want to say is: Believe in yourself - you already have the mental strength! ---

▫️Places less torque on hip and lower back (if you have back problems when you back squat try to switch to front squat)
▫️it requires good flexibility through your latissimus dorsi and wrist (you can use straps till you are able to get in proper rack position, im not a big fan of crossing arms position)
▫️most of people are not able to lift as much weight as in the back squat
▫️definitely more difficult than back squat
▫️if you thinking to start olimpic lifting definitely you need to master the front squat as it mimics the position of the clean

This is the challenge. Next program instead of back squat, give it the front squat a try.

Pull your hips down and back until you break parallel. I actually like to take these lower to hit the quads even more, almost mimicking a sissy squat.

Once you hit your bottom position, push through your heels to come back up.
_
I like doing these two ways: using lighter weight and a faster tempo (first video) without ever fully locking out my knee to increase the time under tension and get a good pump AND secondly, using heavy weight and slow eccentrics for a killer burn (second video).

If you scroll back deeply into my past uploads, you'll see a version of this movement where I used a bar with "d-handles". I've essentially retired that version in place of this one, as I feel performing it this way provides more freedom to manipulate the ROM to match the joint angle of the long-head. Using the cuffs allows me to keep the palms facing each other, which I feel is key for ensuring the majority of the tension stays on the long-head throughout this movement.

For those like myself who tend to have stubborn arms, I would urge you to focus some time on long-head movements because there is often a lot of growth potential and it can really help with the appearance of size - particularly with poses such as a front double bicep. The triceps are a much larger muscle group than the biceps, so don't fall into the trap of hammering away at the biceps while neglecting the triceps.

I've never seen this particular variation of this movement posted elsewhere, but I'm not narcissistic enough to assume I'm the first to come up with it. I am always tinkering away and coming up with movements that are unique to me, when I feel a need, but let's be real for a moment and admit there is very little chance that someone in the vast history of bodybuilding has not performed the very same movement.

When these fitness types stake claims on movements, this is par for the course in IG fitness land as many "guru" types suffer from what I like to call narcissistic insecurity disorder. Of course, having a need for self-importance due to insecurities is also one of the major drivers that causes folks get into bodybuilding to begin with. So, with that said, enjoy this movement and feel free claim it as your own if you like.
