Triggerpoints or dysfunction of this muscle can lead to the following symptoms: -Anterior/posterior shoulder pain -Pain while fixing hair or trying to reach behind back. -Decreased shoulder stability. -Decreased or painful External shoulder rotation which can limit your snatch or jerk. --------------------------------------------------------My therapeutic approach: identify dysfunction, weakness, and imbalances. Active release technique and graston technique to remove trigger points and dysfunction. Chiropractic adjustments to restore range of motion. Kinesiotaping to provide some support and to promote blood and lymphatic flow. #activerelease #mobilechiropractor #fitness #chiropractor #houston #graston #recovery #health #wellness #sports #shoulder #rotatorcuff

Lately I've been pretty much incorporating one heavy compound movement dependent on what muscle group I'm training that day. It's been going great! Remember when I said I didn't deadlift, squat or do bent over rows? Well I'm now doing those movements! I avoided them because I was having lower back issues which were mostly from having a sedentary job and my knees were bothering me as well. I'm the kind of person who listens to their body and won't push passed when I feel something may be wrong. Kinks and bumps are going to happen when you train hard but taking care of them or avoiding exercises which may aggravate them more than they already are should be paid attention to as well. I began studying and reading more material on mobility work and focusing more on rehabilitation, warm up/ cool down movements, important stretches, and chiropractic care and graston technique. All of which since paying more attention to and quitting my sedentary job, has led me to having little to no issues anymore and been feeling strong and joints and lower back been feeling amazing as well! It takes me a good 15 to 25 minutes to warm up for each training session. I decided to start challenging myself a bit more and my work outs have been awesome! I believe switching up your routine and shocking the body is very beneficial. Plus who wants to do the same routine 24/7? I get bored! 🤓💪🏼💪🏼👊🏼👊🏼 #benchpress #exercise #progress #healthiswealth #strength #challengeyourself #switchitup #stepoutofyourcomfortzone #ifbb #womenwithmuscles #lifting #workhard #stayfocused

If you saw on my story earlier, I went to get a sports massage from Matthew Ducato, and I got a chiropractic adjustment with Dr.Satterwhite. Today, I want to go over taking care of our bodies!!! Yes that includes nutrition and working out, but sometimes people forget about recovery. RECOVERY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!!! ____________________________
Today I'm going to go over 4 techniques for recovery.

1️⃣FOAM ROLLING:
Can help release muscles and adhesions on the superficial layer of muscle and improves circulation. Can help increase flexibility and release stress. Perfect for a warm up or cool down. This technique is geared towards relieving muscle discomfort.
2️⃣GRASTON:
This is the scraping of superficial muscle. This can help remove toxins, break up scar tissue or adhesions, and improve blood flow. This technique is geared towards relieving muscle discomfort and focuses on relaxation of muscles.
3️⃣SPORTS MASSAGE:
It's not a massage; it's not going to feel good. A sports massage should gradually work their way up to deep tissue. This goes a bit deeper than the superficial layers of muscle. This will relieve muscle tension, promote blood flow, increase flexibility, and promote faster recovery. This is my personal favorite because my "knots" are deep in my muscle. Only dealing with the superficial muscle for me creates problems in the long run. This technique is geared towards long term relief of muscle and joint pain and focuses on getting the body ready to perform optimally.
4️⃣ROLFING:
You've probably never heard of this, but you learn something new everyday. Rolfing is a very deep tissue massage that actually manipulates the muscle tissue. This technique is used for improving body alignment and functionality. This is a long term purchase of usually 10 sessions that gradually go deeper and deeper to alter your muscle structure and correct it. I would recommend consulting your doctor before diving into this one.

.

IASTM is a technique, using specially designed instruments, that detect and treat fascial restrictions. The friction on the tissues is used to effectively treat soft tissue inflammation and degradation.
.
.

Huh? What does that mean?
We scrape the skin using metal tools and it breaks down scar tissue and tight muscles, increasing blood supply to speed up healing and regain mobility.
.
.

Stay tuned for more info on IASTM in the next post and check out some great IASTM videos by our friend @drdevassythechiro.

@drglennpauluy and @andreadesg provide IASTM as part of their chiropractic treatment plans.
