This is Lucy on The Hill. This is the part of our yard just a bit elevated from our house, so she thinks of it as a hill. Our landlords told us they planted that clutch of trees when they built the house in the 1980s. I’m pretty sure they were as tall as Lucy at the time.
.
Lu seemed to grow about a foot this summer. She’s more confident than she was this time last year. She’s impassioned about Greek mythology and the Percy Jackson books. She is excited that 4th grade will have homework and planning books and trips and more history. She’s already counting down the days to this year’s Nutcracker performances. She’s very happy.
.
Lu, like me, needs alone time regularly. Desmond, so far, needs people all the time. He’s a little scientist, with 485 questions an hour. Until he can read, he needs us to answer those questions — all the time. He’s also hilarious, which means he wants an audience — all the time. These two squabble, intermittently, all throughout the day, mostly because they meet the world so differently.
.
Six days until school starts.
.
Last year, I noticed Lucy playing with a beat-up badminton racquet. She would pick it up with her toes then throw it in the air. Catch it. Throw it. I noticed her doing it once in awhile. Then, 2 weeks later, I looked out the window and saw her twirl it in her fingers. Damned if she hadn’t taught herself to twirl that racquet like a baton. And so, now, when she needs a little space from her little brother, she goes out to the hill and twirls that racquet, talks to herself acting out scenes from films she loves and creating new scenes for those films, and thinks about how her life is blooming open.
.
I imagine that when Lucy is an adult, and I remember her at 10, I will think of this image.

I had a very long emotional day, positive and negative. I don't really understand why my anxiety consumes me, and I'm sure I never will because, well, that's anxiety. I don't really understand why my anxiety consumes me, and I'm sure I never will because, well, that's anxiety. But maybe because I'm almost 23 years old and I still get out of bed at 1pm on my day off. Or because I still have to have my mom come and help me clean my house. Or because I have so many goals I have yet to accomplish but don't feel like I'm getting closer to them. Or because my dog ran away and I thought he was gone forever. But then there's moments within my anxious ones where I realize I'm so fucking blessed. I'm surrounded by genuine people who care deeply. @bradleywesch came back after hanging out to help look for Jaxon because he's my brother and that's what family does. And when I told my landlord he was gone she didn't hesitate to pick me up at 11:45 at night in her golf cart to look for him for an hour. And my mom is so selfless, coming over on her day off to help me through my anxiety spells and keep me going and focused on keeping my beautiful home I have clean. And my wonderful boyfriend who remained calm instead of getting upset with me while his baby was off wandering the woods. And this strange app #amaziograph that has done wonders to help me through my constantly anxious mind. Life is weird. Life is hard. But life is also good. I appreciate balance. Without the darkness you wouldn't be able to see the stars.

This weekend, we welcomed Margaret Hamilton (Maggie) into our home. While the pain of losing Zakk is still pretty fresh, we're a two cat family. Our home felt quite a bit emptier, and Rex was having a hard time being the only animal in the house for the first time in his life.

She's having a bit of a tough time getting used to Rex, but he's being quite the gentleman about it, and she's starting to come around. When she's not hissing at Rex, she's absolutely adorable!

If you're curious, she's named after Margaret Hamilton of Apollo fame, who lead the team that wrote the code for @nasa and a implemented a program that actually saved the Apollo 11 landing from being aborted. Hamilton also spearheaded Software Engineering as a serious field. All of this led to her receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom from @barackobama in 2016.

A week ago today one of the greatest MEN I've ever known and looked up to passed away peacefully at my parents house. I capitalize the word MEN because if you had to break it down it was just that simple. "Be a man" that's exactly what I hear when I close my eyes at night, I told @reefgrl010 at the funeral if I could just find a way to be even half the man he was life would be beyond amazing for our family. He set the bar so high in every department in a way that you knew was unreachable, from being a husband and spoiling my grandmother- I remember my grandmother saying that he had never raised his voice to her and she wanted for nothing. He was an amazing father teaching my dad the same methods following his 60 years of marriage my dad never raising his voice and 30
Plus years of marriage, teaching my dad the perfect amount of moderation in partying and spending. Most of all as all Shach's were famous for being salesman he was the only man I ever heard of turning down a promotion from sales because he would make less. Always 20 minutes early, the most reliable person in the world, and had a look that would make you shit your pants if you were disrespectful and / or reached for a check. You never met a person that didn't think the world of him, strong as ox 6 days a week at golds gym into his 70s. He truly reminded me and was The Godfather / patriarch of our family. I had to post this now as I was waken by a dream that was just to perfect not to. Rest In Peace Day I hope to make you proud, love justin

Snap, crackle, pop; The amount of preparation, care and cordination that goes into ‘fixing’ a broken ankle is nothing short of amazing…and that’s where I find myself having snapped it in 3 places last Tuesday after a HARD fall... That day I would spend the next the next several hours at Harborview ER getting patched up and having the bones reset by their kick ass trauma team THANK YOU! Over the last week I’ve been convalescing (in pain) at my girlfriend’s house where she’s been doing an amazing job in caring for me while managing her own life/career (+2 kids!) ❤️TY-GF!❤️ 1st photo is a just before they started the 3 hour operation to repair/install. It seems to have gone really well and I’m sooo relieved to say the least! I am now the proud owner of this huge cast, a couple metal plates and a fist full of screws! This was the first real broken bone in my life and was a freaky experience that had me really worried... Now, on the lighter side, the anesthesiologist team that was responsible for putting me under (and bringing me back!) told me not to worry and that the meds would help take me to a little place they called ‘the edge of darkness - round trip.’ Nice! As he worked his magic and I began to quickly fade, I asked him if he could infuse a little technicolor into the experience.... He smiled and asked if I liked Jimi Hendrix and said ‘enjoy the show.’ *Poof nighty night* The next thing I know I seemed to have materialized on the couch at home while snacking on blueberries, humming the the hook from Purple Haze and cueing up Star Trek TNG (the Doctor actually recommended some episodes!) Im still groggy and don’t exactly recall how I got here lol... but I think we’re headed in the right direction. ✌️❤️🖖🏼 #purplehaze @startrek @sirpatstew #brokenankle

This month, she has lit up with life! She laughs and smiles and hoots the cutest little owl hoos at us. She loves people and commotion, dancing with Mom to the Moana soundtrack and chirping at Dad when he tells her stories. She has wild, crazy hair (a point of pride for Zach) and yummy thigh rolls. She still hates tummy time and her love affair with ceiling fans endures. She has started sleeping through the night (8-7) but I’m pretty sure she’s just faking us out right now, and will start her late night parties again when I’m back to work full time next week. She is our sweet little petunia picklebottom, and has reduced me to “that Mom” who will show you videos and pictures on my phone, so steer clear of me in public if you don’t want to be cornered with Annie spam. I worry about the world more and about details less. My house is a mess, my brain is scrambled, and we are just LOVING every minute.

As 2016 ends, I look back on all the love, loss, change, goals, accomplishments & challenges endured. This year has been an awakening & yet pretty shite, all in one - BUT - this has been an incredible year for growth & dreams & for that, I am thankful for this beautifully challenging hell of a year. I have suffered great losses before but in June I lost my first grandparent. My Grandfather - Mi Abuelo - Dad. He lived a beautiful life for 91 amazing years. He brought his family here to the U.S. from Cuba & he worked harder than anyone to gift his family with the "American Dream" - He is one of the best souls on the planet. I am his first grandchild & he gets an immense amount of credit in helping to raise me & shape me into the person I've become & will continue to grow to be. He loved me unconditionally & instilled in me his quiet strength when I need it most. I will always remember countless moments we shared. From all the times he let me stay up late to watch baseball, wrestling/boxing with him when I should have been sleeping. Covering all my school books in brown bags - wrapping them so perfectly that they lasted all year & gave me blank canvases to express my creative side. Taking the time to make me copper bracelets whenever I gleefully followed him into his work shed. Always having donuts & hot Cuban bread waiting in the mornings. Sitting on the back porch eating donuts, plantains picked from the yard, ice cream - from talking & laughing to serene stillness, teaching me to observe & appreciate the nature around us - including the woodpecker that always showed up. Teaching Shawna & I how to dance for prom. Waking up weekend mornings to find him dancing w/Abuela to spanish records he played whenever she tried to clean the house - pure love. Picking me up from school & always having candy hidden for me in his car & stopping to dine in somewhere on food & ice cream & just bond. Tickle fights - & he always won. Hiding $20 in my car so I never ran out of gas & SO much more. Thank you for your love, support, excitement, encouragement & giving me the courage to live & achieve great dreams. I miss your laugh, smile, hugs, scent, tickles... YOU. Te Amo.

.
During our visit to Mr. Darcy’s house last week, I was thinking how much that quote represents everything about young Beth. Finding the right man and marriage were pretty much the only things on her mind. But once she found the love of her life, she was stunned by how freaking hard marriage was. 😬
.
No one ever really explained how tough it would be.
.
Scratch that. I had a lot of warnings but I was in my own little world full of butterflies and rainbows and thought they were all wrong!
.
How could love ever be hard?! 😍🤷🏻‍♀️
.
Bet there have been times where I’ve wondered if Steve and I would make it together...for the rest of our lives. 👵🏽🧓🏻
.
If you asked our friends, they’d tell you we’re pretty different from each other. He comes from a quiet yet opinionated English background and I come from a vibrant laid back Latin American family.
.
Steve and I have fought like crazy to make it to 4+ years of marriage. We want to beat the odds! 💪🏽 #beating50percent .
I’ve had to learn to embrace Steves Englishness. It’s been puzzling at times because I just didn't grow up the way he did but he’s had to do the same for me.
.
Marriage is hard. Add in a couple different cultural backgrounds into the mix and it gets even messier. But if you want your marriage to thrive, I’m not saying it’ll be easy but, you CAN make it work. It’ll be hard as hell but worth it in every way. <3 #harperadventure

Saoirse did indeed experience a ton of firsts in her fifth month of life, namely her first set of TEETH!!! Yes, that's right, her bottom two front teeth are poking through her gums and causing her to bite on everything she can. To my surprise, at her 4 month check up the doctor said to start introducing foods to her to get her used to eating so that she'll be good to go at 6 months when she can really truly start solids. So Saoirse has tried: banana, avocado, mango, and sweet potato! She liked mango best I must say and sadly it seemed as though she liked avocado the least 😢 (that's like sacrilegious to me, for avocado is so very holy 😑... She'll learn). Saoirse experienced her first New Year's Eve, which she slept through, obviously. She experienced her first trip to the beach at Santa Monica Pier, which she didn't sleep through and absolutely loved! We walked around the pier and people watched, then walked along the beach and watched the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. She's such an outdoorsy, adventurey baby girl! Grandmomma and Manny came to visit and were our first official house guests. She met her first celebrity this month and HE came up to HER lol. Daddy took her to Universal City Walk and a man and his date came up to them and the man was talking to Saoirse and letting her hold his pinky while the woman asked Daddy how old she is etc. And then Daddy looks over and who else but Wilder Valderama is the man telling Saoirse how cute she is! 😲😍 We are so in love with our daughter, Miss Saoirse Fierce. It has been but 5 months and already we have felt more bliss than thought possible. She is everything. And there's so much more to come! We are truly blessed by this angel 😇💕

Happy Brithday to @tianabelle!
Here’s ten reasons why she is incredible:
1)She always wants to be adventurous
2)She goes after what she wants and gets it.
3) She is a “Doer” I’ve never met someone that can’t pick up something she’s never done before and get it done in such a short amount of time.
4) She is fiercely loyal
5) She loves deeply and tenderly
6)She cries at every movie, and sometimes she cries just remembering a movie.
7) She takes stressful and potentially damaging situations and approaches them in peaceful hopeful ways
8) Her Young Women have threatened their parents to move to where our house is being built to keep her as a YW advisor
9) She is quick to forgive. Even when I’m totally in the wrong and I just don’t see it.
10) Her dad was right on our wedding day he gave me a pair of sun glasses and told me that I’ll need them because she is the sunshine in everyone’s life she is around
Happy 24th Tiana!

U know what it takes to raise a baby and keep these edges fleeky? I deserve a day lol! But for real...You know how they say “it takes a village to raise a child”? It DOES, but unfortunately we don’t have that village because neither one of us have family in state. There’s no breaks, no drop off to granny’s whiles we’re working, no extra hands, nothing. That’s what scared me the most BUT my fiancé said “relax, it’s gonna make you a stronger mother” and he was right! I’m not perfect and I’m only 1 year in BUT what it takes to raise a newborn mentally, physically and emotionally is NO JOKE and we made it out alive lol. This is the hardest but BEST thing I’ve ever done in my life but I was made for this. I get to see myself as a kid before I was tainted by the world. The joy Brooklyn has everyday when I walk in the House is worth all 10 months of carrying and creating her. She is the BEST little baby anyone can ask for! She’s so loving and GOOFY as ever. She’s feisty, wild, crazy and the list goes on. I pray throughout her life she keeps this same energy or she’s getting a whooping lol. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies, especially first time mommies. I have so much more respect for you guys now. Now I get what they meant by the whole “ super woman” thing. It’s fitting! #HappyMothersDay❤️

Rusted and grating, obnoxious and irritating, like a Tim Winton or Johnathon Franzen novel introducing an indigenous or female character respectively. She stares at her phone on about 6% charge - fuck - it's monday! The Garfield Day!! Grrrr! Tennile hates Monday's coz that's the day she has to go to work at her shit cunt job. She rolls from her non-koala brand mattress and has a shower and cries hysterically for a bit cause she's heaps alone and, look, this situation isn't changing anytime soon so crying and having extremely negative thoughts is probably the best way to deal with it.
Leaving her sharehouse she realises she can't even be comfortably miserable alone with, I dunno, one of those fuck off Instagram friendly poodles at best (fuck, some shit cat would be fine). Instead it’s just Tenille and her toy ass devil's ivy and totally real sadness with a bunch of emotionally undeveloped morons in a decaying terrace house cause she lives in sydney. She orders a cup of tepid coffee flavoured drinking water from some dumb cafe called the dog and dick or something like that,,, but just before she starts her second monday morning cry... out the corner of her eye... some fucking LEGEND driving a bus/human misery wagon carrying 48 passengers drives straight into oncoming traffic!!! The immediate explosion is deafening and before Tenille has time to bite her banana bread everyone around her breaks into raucous applause. "Bravo!” Says some dickhead “they reckon sydney public transport is no good but look at this, order of australia i reckon" he continues "What a good cunt!" says another fella "about bloody time!" Tennile stares at the flaming wreckage and starts weeping.. but not for herself or her shit life. She weeps for hope. This is the beginning of something new. ... Day three of #sweeptheearth : Today is to share a time when you felt the Holy Ghost. My story makes me feel so silly but I adore it because it was what I needed. During my senior year I had horrible stomach aches for a couple weeks and we didn’t know why. I worked two jobs on top of school and family/church responsibilities. I didn’t have time to be sick. So one day I was driving to work to cover a shift for a friend. I had a stomach ache and I was praying fervently that I would make it through the shift. I was only about three minutes into my drive when the girl I was covering for called and said she had forgotten to tell the managers that the shift was covered so she just called in. She apologized for making me leave the house and she said I could go home. The Holy Ghost flooded my heart and mind and I felt the love of our Savior in a way I hadn’t really felt before. In that moment the Holy Ghost testified to me that I was loved and that my Father in Heaven knew me personally. I started crying, overwhelmed with emotion as I turned around and went home. It was a very silly little experience but it meant so much to me that He was watching over me and knew I was in pain. It was not a coincidence. He cares. I am so thankful for the power of the Holy Ghost in my life.

Photo by @StephSinclairPix // My talented friend, Stephanie Sinclair worked on a story for @NatGeo that changed her life. She now wants to change the lives of her young subjects and she has recruited some of the best female photographers of our generation to help. We all have donated artwork to raise funds for this effort. Tonight, I am asking you to go to the link in my bio to support young women forced to marry while they were still children.

Ya Kaka (centre), 19, was abducted by Boko Haram with two of her sisters in 2014. “After invading Bama, the Boko Haram insurgents came to my house, one of them saw me and said, ‘I want to marry you.’ I said I will not marry you. My parents will not give me to you. Then he said, ‘O.K., that is easy. Let me kill them, so that you will now be the one to decide.’ We got married in the Sambisa forest. Three months later, he came to tell me that he wanted to go attack a community. My husband was killed in that attack. I was pregnant by that point.
Supported by Too Young to Wed, she now attends Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri.

It may be hard to believe, but it's true. From the @dressember blog: 17 year old, Sienna, was abused by her father on a regular basis. One day, Sienna gained the courage to report the abuse. When she reported the abuse, her mother kicked her out of the house, leaving Sienna to figure out life on her own. After couch surfing for months, she met a man who offered her a place to stay and bought her new clothes.

After a month he told her she needed to pay him back. With no resources, he said he wanted her to start working for him and introduced her to backpage.com, the website responsible for 73 percent of cases of suspected child sex trafficking in the U.S.

When she was referred to @mcmahonryancac trafficking program, an advocate was assigned to connect her to valuable resources. It took months but Sienna's advocate was able to walk alongside her, building a trusting relationship. Through many up and downs this year, Sienna is now in her own apartment, working on educational goals by taking GED classes and has a part-time job. The advocate continues working to empower Sienna through case management and building a strong relationship of trust.

.
Her baby son just passed away on December 2. When she told me this, I went blank. I prayed to God to give her much strength. I prayed for her even more than for her baby. InshaAllah he is guaranteed Jannah. But..... How come such problem occured in her life? She was my best college mate. From what I knew she was so fragile and her heart was so pure and soft.
.
"Will God ever give us more problem than we can handle?" This question popped up at first she told me about her baby's condition when she was pregnant, and then again, on December 2.
.
When I came to her house on that day, what I saw was a completely different woman. A woman that was so strong, Ikhlas and tough... I cried when she was talking to her son's body "Adnan tunggu mama di surga ya, minum susu yang banyak di sana, gak sakit lagi ya..." She was talking with a very calming voice and no tears (damn i cri again!).. I know she is a good mom (with a great husband too), but Allah loves Adnan that much. He takes Adnan back to a better place than this cruel world. And for you Dinda, I am sorry for your loss. Tabah dan Ikhlas... Lo kuat, maybe gua gak akan bisa sekuat dan setegar itu. You're the best! Love you, @adindalarassinta ❤

His angel
Her smile diverts him from his pain,
Her eyes let's him know everything will be okay,
Her voice calms his raging sea,
To good to be true why would she want me,
So He hits his knees and prays Lord never take her away from me and please dear God let me make her as happy as she makes me,
One day, one week, one year, one lifetime too,
Kids a house all their dreams came true,
a warm July night 45 years down the line, hospital room in the middle of the night,
he holds her hand as she fights for life,
she looks at him through exhausted eyes,
and whispers my love I'm almost done,
I have some things you need to hear that I haven't shared in all these years,
"My love, Your smile always eased my pain,
your laugh convinced me everything would be okay,
your voice always calmed my raging sea,
I prayed that God wouldn't take you away from me.
One lifetime together what a ride,
I'm so glad you spent it by my side,
I never knew why you would choose me,
she smiled the smile that stole his heart,
with one final breath she says bye sweetheart,
closes her eyes and fades to sleep,
The old man bends down and kisses her wrinkled cheek and spoke a prayer so soft and sweet,
God thank you for her and all she gave to me a lifetime of love and everlasting peace,
Kiss her cheek and keep her close by,
Until the day I can stand by her side.

We all have donated artwork to raise funds for this effort. Please support young women forced to marry while they were still children.

Ya Kaka’s fate could have been different had the Nigerian government moved faster to rescue them. “We were not taken to forest immediately, but there were no attempts to rescue us in the month we were there.” she said. “Had they responded immediately, we could have been rescued there. The government should assist and rescue the girls that are still in the bush.” “I can now sleep with both eyes closed instead of one eye open,” she said. “If I am [supported], I can do wonderful things.” Supported by Too Young to Wed, she now attends Ramat Polytechnic in Maiduguri.

After spending the majority of the day mt. biking, watching football and eating; a local man finally realizes, after browsing social media, that he was indeed supposed to post something when he woke up. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to publicly tell everyone just how thankful you are for your life, family and loved ones. After coming to this realization he said "I am just so thankful that I'm able to spend Thanksgiving with Samantha, the love of my life, she really does make me happier than I've ever been." Local reporter and numerous sources can indeed verify the massive improvement this woman, Samantha, has made on his life. "Hunter is just so much better off now that he has Samantha in his life, he's actually a decent person and appears to finally have it together.. if nothing else, his home appears to be clean and in order," friend confirms. It can also be verified that since the Mother of the house is at work, side dish duties have fallen exclusively on Samantha, if they have any chance at being completed on time. Dogs patiently waiting around kitchen for any droppings. Father also consistent in asking son if "ready for a beer yet" on an hourly basis. #theonion #thanksgiving #bethankful

Do you ever have the kind of weekend where you need another weekend to recover from your weekend? Yeah...anyway, Saturday afternoon, after some cranky outbursts, I decided to put myself down for a nap. There I was, sound asleep with the “Do Not Disturb” featured activated on my phone, when I get a FaceTime call from Leanne. Who was in the same house 😑. The “Do Not Disturb” function has a provision for emergencies so if someone calls repeatedly, it lets the call through. Leanne had “BIG NEWS” she just had to share: “Elizabeth, guess what! I finished my puzzle book.” Um, that’s what you called - repeatedly - to tell me?! Girlfriend does word searches every day and she goes through puzzle books faster than Donald Trump goes through bronzer. But, what can you do but laugh? I told Travis that she woke me up with that critical news and he goes, “Yeah, she called me too.” 😏 But last May she made a call to me that saved Mama Hop’s life, according to her doctor. The two most recent blog posts explain our summer challenges. I still need to write a part 3 and I promise it will have more funny stories. Benn, Liz (1929-2012)
Liz Benn hated this picture. It's not surprising, given that in every other shot taken in her long career she looked flawless; skin glowing, features poised, body commanding the frame. The photographers she worked with — Dahl-Wolfe, Prigent, Horst — seemed mesmerised by her presence, rarely able to do much more than simple point-and-shoots. But Dick Avedon, a lifelong friend, caught her off-guard; hair hidden, forehead furrowed, grimacing as she juggled sunglasses and cigarettes.

As a schoolgirl in Toronto, Benn first took up modelling to help her family through the Depression. She made the shortlist for National Velvet', but was deemed too tall; she lost out to the more experienced (and shorter) Elizabeth Taylor. By her late teens, though, she’d earned enough to buy a house and car for her parents — and a one-way ticket to New York for herself.

In the winter of 1948, she was booked for a Bazaar shoot in Jamaica with Toni Frissell and Mary Jane Russell. John Pringle, a local hotelier, got wind of the models’ arrival, and appointed himself their welcoming committee. He and Benn were married less than a month after they met, and returned to New York. But Jamaica proved too much of a lure. In 1953, the Pringles took over an old sugar plantation at Round Hill, turning it into the island’s most exclusive destination. Noël Coward, the Astaires, Truman Capote and Clark Gable became regulars at the destination whose welcome mats proudly proclaimed ‘Go Away’. And whilst John Pringle was the resort’s ebullient front man, his glamorous, formidable wife played a key (if quieter) role. “When I first met Liz Pringle,” banker Henry Tiarks remembered, “I felt like a Boy Scout being inspected by Queen Mary.” In the early Sixties, overworked and overtired, the Pringles sold up and moved to Switzerland, before decamping to London — where they struggled to settle, and ultimately divorced. Benn returned to her beloved Jamaica, buying a house in Portland. Right to the end of her life, she commanded attention wherever she went. #celebrityhideaway #roundhillresort #tbt #historybuffs #1950s

"my god, I'm gonna miss you so much." i stand up on my tiptoes to kiss lucas, my boyfriend and neighbor since forever.
"ditto. why is melissa even making you move anyway?"
"don't know; she refuses to say. i'm planning on running away on my sixteenth birthday, though.." i drift into a daydream about escaping from my obnoxious foster mom, melissa. her real daughter, perfect eighteen year old maddie, absolutely despises me as well. so basically, the last two and a half years of my life have been a living hell.
"if you ever do, come live with me. my dad won't mind. ever since my mom divorced him, he's been playing call of duty and ordering us takeout every night...i doubt he'd even notice you." lucas sounds joking, but his underlying tone is pleading.
"i wish." lucas embraces me in a long hug, and we kiss goodbye. he hands me my super big Louis Vuitton suitcase, and my empty living room is bare except for a couple moving boxes.
i walk out to the car with lucas and he, just like his polite old self, opens Melissa's car door for me as I climb in. he waves goodbye, and we both crack up as he makes a heart shape with his hands. "goodbye, mackenzie ziegler. i love you forever and always."
"farewell, lucas triana. i really really love you. I'll see you monday in third period." i say as i kiss him through the open window. he shakes his head in fake astonishment. we're rudely interrupted by Melissa screeching away from my house. i hadn't even realized she'd gotten in the car. i groan as i plug headphones into my ears. this is going to be one hell of a long half hour drive.
melissa starts talking to maddie, sitting in the front, as soon as i plug in my earphones. she doesn't realize that i haven't started blaring music yet. "you know, this house is supposedly haunted. the neighbor said so at the open house." melissa chatters.
haunted? yeah, sure. kinda like you...?
maddie nods, obviously not giving a crap.
i snoop on melissa's gossips to her daughter about this week's episode of real housewives, and we finally pull up in front of a house twenty minutes later.
this can't be right.

In this neighborhood, danger lies close to home. A domestic thriller packed full of secrets, and a twisty story that never stops--from the bestselling author of The Couple Next Door

He looks at her, concerned. "How do you feel?" She wants to say, Terrified. Instead, she says, with a faint smile, "Glad to be home." Karen and Tom Krupp are happy--they've got a lovely home in upstate New York, they're practically newlyweds, and they have no kids to interrupt their comfortable life together. But one day, Tom returns home to find Karen has vanished--her car's gone and it seems she left in a rush. She even left her purse--complete with phone and ID--behind.

There's a knock on the door--the police are there to take Tom to the hospital where his wife has been admitted. She had a car accident, and lost control as she sped through the worst part of town.

The accident has left Karen with a concussion and a few scrapes. Still, she's mostly okay--except that she can't remember what she was doing or where she was when she crashed. The cops think her memory loss is highly convenient, and they suspect she was up to no good.
Karen returns home with Tom, determined to heal and move on with her life. Then she realizes something's been moved. Something's not quite right. Someone's been in her house. And the police won't stop asking questions.

Because in this house, everyone's a stranger. Everyone has something they'd rather keep hidden. Something they might even kill to keep quiet.

Have I told you the story of this angel? She truly is my guardian angel. Growing up in the 1970's she always adorned our tree. Passed along from my Grandma Edna to my mom ( probably the year she went all hot pink on the tree:), I just couldn't get enough of this beauty. I stared into those eyes and they spoke volumes back to me. Flash forward to about 10 years ago. At this point I had a home and two kids. I popped by my parent's house and they were clearing out "old" Christmas decorations . Aka tossing them in the trash. " Where is the angel?" I asked with a pit in my stomach. I knew the answer. Dad told me he would look for it that afternoon. He called me to tell me he found her! One slight problem...her head was sort of not attached. Dad glued the head back on and presented her to me. I look at that sliver across her neck. To me, it in no way takes away from her beauty. Her beauty is the love she radiates, the memories so easily recalled, and the willingness of my dad to bring her back to life again. We all have angels in our lives. She sort of represents all of mine.

Recently, Mrs. Melania Trump (wife of USA president) hosted a group of children aged between 10-13years old. The venue was the Blue Room of the White House, the official residence of the American President. That day, the Blue Room was set like a classroom for the children. Alongside Education Secretary (Minister), Betsy Devos, Mrs. Trump asked the students to write on a board how they were feeling. The First Lady said she had gathered the children at the White House to hear about their thoughts and challenges in order to help children everywhere to do their best. She wrote that she felt “EXCITED”. Two of the children wrote that they felt “Respected”, “Grateful” and “Nervous.” However, towards the end of the event, one of the students who had written that he felt, “Energized,” accidentally knocked a drinking glass of water off a table. He froze, but the First Lady put a comforting hand on his back. She then said,“Noproblem. Don’t worry, it’s just water.” But Mrs. Trump was saying to the boy (paraphrased), “It’s a mistake alright, but spilled water even with all the cameras in a famous house is no big deal.” In life, there are some things that have happened to you, there are mistakes you have made, there are some experiences that you have passed through that you consider to be big deals, but God may not be looking at those things AS BIG DEALS Because He has BIGGER DEALS FOR YOUR TOMORROW! He wants you to forget them and move ahead! Wow! Wonderful God! Hear what a wise man said: “Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves: 1. Regret for the past. 2. Fear of the future.” Yes! THESE ARE TWO THIEVES YOU MUST AVOID!” Many cry over past mistakes! Some cry/worry over what people said about them! Even if you lost some money in a business deal or someone disappointed/betrayed you, yes, those things are true but don’t consider them as big deals! They are like that “spilled water” in a famous house! Don’t cry over them! There is a comforting Hand on your back that is saying, “It’s no big deal! Don’t worry, everything is going to be alright! MOVE ON! Your best days are just ahead!” Amen!

To my dearest cousin @gennnyvieve,

When I first found out the my cousin was getting married - I cried, and it wasn't tears of joy. I was bawling in the living room, with my very shocked and helpless boyfriend, whilst furiously texting Gen things like "YOU CANNOT DONT WANT ME/ OMG I MISS YOU ALR/ YOU ARE NOT MY JIE JIE ANYMORE/ IF NEXT TIME IM ALL BY MYSELF YOU HAVE TO ADOPT ME AND LET ME STAY IN YOUR HOUSE/ EVERY CNY WE MUST GO TO EACH OTHERS HOUSE" etc... all in capital letters... /// I was overwhelmed with a sense of impending loss, loneliness and fear that we would grow apart as Gen steps into a new chapter of her life. (I mean, I was happy for her, but I couldn't help being a baby.) This went on for awhile by the way. But my barrage of forget-me-nots and how-to-stick-together-FOREVER demands evolved into a bout of questioning... about Clement. WHO IS THIS GUY, IS HE A GOOD MAN, WHAT DOES HE DO, and most importantly - how are you so sure that he's THE ONE? Now, in all our years of growing up - our conversations about boys were always rather lengthy and somewhat complicated. But with Clement, she didn't need to say much. In gen's words - "Well, you know because you cannot see life without him (LOH). But I feel, most importantly, he makes me feel secure. Like I know he will never cheat on me HAHA. And it's a choice whether you wanna do life with this guy - I already knew I wanted to marry him." /// In that moment, I knew - everything was in the right place for her. She chose to do life with you Clement, you lucky, lucky... man. (Hahaha) Thank you, for making my favourite cousin so happy. You better continue to do so. OR ELSE....

Education was important, but I wasn’t a good student– all I did was take apart things in my house! My parents were supportive but I’ve been thrashed– imagine finding your ceiling fan on the floor! With no aim in life, it became my obsession. But when I was 12 & my dad passed away– I had to step up for my mom. She started tailoring to make ends meet but it wasn’t enough– I took up odd jobs. I sold sunglass cases & repaired electronics. I made a T.V antenna so we wouldn’t have to pay for cable.
From my allowance, I spent 30p for time on a computer. Once I accidentally came across the code– I got obsessed & sneaked out library books to learn.
At 16, I was creating softwares. My mother was saving to buy a house but I convinced her to buy me an expensive computer instead– I would then code all night.
With a friend, I decided to sell software. It was almost ready when he said I was disposable & betrayed me.
I left the company & vowed to make it up to my mom. I took the first job I could find– selling modems. I was just a 12th pass but I still got it!
I set-up a server for an American customer once & showed him some of the software I’d created too. He was so impressed that he offered me a job. So at 23, I went to the US. My mother was ecstatic. Everyone who’d taunted her was congratulating her. This was my dream job, my ticket! I worked for the biggest companies without an engineering degree!
But I felt lost– I missed my mom & home. So I quit in a few years to start my own company here. From a simple idea, I created Burrp & sold it for a hefty amount. Then I started CleverTap. Today, I’ve hundreds of employees & a funding of over 9 million dollars.
It all began with my mom giving up her dream of owning a house. Today, life has come full circle– I have the privilege of giving her everything she can dream of. Sometimes all you need is one person to have faith in your madness– & look Ma, it’s paid off!”

She just came to me, writing a letter to a new “pen pal” and asked me if it was okay to tell her new friend that she had a little sister named Julia Grace but that she died. Without hesitation I said yes, of course it is, angel, because Julia is still very much your sister, she’s just waiting for you in heaven, and talking about her to people will make them know it’s okay to talk to you about her as well. I continued to tell her that I was so glad she and the boys are able to openly talk about their sister, because holding all that emotion inside isn’t healthy for anyone. And then I proceeded to tell her how Julia’s story is just part of life, that we live in a fallen world, where things happen that we won’t be able to make sense of, but no matter what difficult experiences we face in this life, that GOD IS STILL GOOD. My kids know this well, because I remind them often, and nearly every time I tell them that, I cry, as I did today, but it is just that strong of a statement for me. We will all face times of trial in this life - times that may seem unfair, and times where we will feel like we can’t possibly go on - but we weren’t ever promised a life of all rainbows and sunshine, yet God is still good, He always has been and He always will be, and He will faithfully walk with you thru every storm life brings...you just have to take hold of His hand. Now to get ready for the Youth Group swim party at our house this afternoon! Have a great day, IG friends! ;) #lifewithjoleekate #juliagracewatson #juliagrace

For the last 2 yrs my dad @sparkywcj has been taking care of him because Spaz and him were super tight and my dad needed a good companion. Spaz has had an amazing life. He lived in multiple states with me over the years and we have had some fun adventures. I had him so long he was around before I enlisted in the USCG. When I would come home on leave him and Tink would great me at the door and then follow me all through the house. He could be a bit bossy and loved to talk. He would walk around meowing all over the house, and would physically and verbally harass you when he was hungry. But he was always a loyal loving little man. I miss him already and I know my dad misses him terribly as well. He is in a much better place with no pain. He gets to see his soulcat Tinkerbell again (she passed away 5 yrs ago), as well as Merce and Lulu (our golden retriever / Merce's service dog). I believe he is happy, being loved, and chasing frogs and lizards (he was a hunter) on the other side. Wherever you are little man daddy loves and misses you.
Vaya con Dios, mi amigo. Lo mejor está por venir.

Tennile blew her pay on cocaine on the weekend because she’s a fucking child so she’s been eating leftover pasta and supermarket cheese all week, but not today! Her team leader Reggie is taking the team out for burgers at some shithouse pretend pub in the inner city of Sydney, filled with highly educated, upper-middle class young professionals who have recently watched the film "Wake in Fright" and now base their entire identity around a fucking pathetic appropriation of Australian working class culture. Pretending to be a dumb cunt, drinking tinnies & listening to the Dune Rats or Courtney Barnett for some reason - hey that’s pretty cool! Wish I was a pretend dead shit as well, sounds just great! Anyway they’re sitting at the pub enjoying a $9 beer and Reggie’s in his fake yeezys ordering for everyone: "Yo these burgers are legit - you see, they are exactly like delicious McDonald's burgers, but they're heaps better because the person making it listens to shit house music and has a stick and poke of an owl or a pine cone or something on his dick” Tennile wonders how the fuck she completely fucked up her life like this, sitting here with all these morons, ironic “Pressure Down” by John Farnham blaring offensively on the stereo, wishing she killed herself yesterday on Sui Tuey, when she hears an approaching sound…

Rubbing her eyes & staring out the window, she is suddenly filled with elation - that flaming bus filled with the happiest 48 people she has ever seen has comes to a stop right outside the pub, inside the bus everyone is dancing, big smiles, HUGE smiles - fuck, there's some cunt with a big trombone, playing along to "Pressure Down" Everyone on the bus is clapping and singing to the beat, and the LEGEND who is driving is composing the orchestra like he’s in the fucking opera house - he's laughing, oh how happy he is! Old mate Trombone is going off, he's hitting all the notes and then fades away in crescendo "Sorry guys! I'm out! Ha Ha" as he collapses and fucking dies - the other passengers laugh & clap & join him in salvation in the glorious tempest of flames. Just before the bus explodes the driver, the LEGEND, hits Tennile up on Tinder (cont..)

This is a bitter sweet disco daddy post as it will be Zara’s and my last disco daddy post as a duo. With Mr. Aslan coming in a couple days, our next post will be as a trio!  I can’t believe we have been doing these together for almost 2 years; with that said, Miss Z is now officially 2 years old! We had the VIP treatment at @bigapplecircus where Miss Z was able to hang out in the VIP speigel tent before and after the show. Also we were given the best seats in the house, front and center! It is truly such an incredible experience and I highly recommend it for all families and my night life fam! Was most interesting to see some of the Box performers reintroduce their acts to a different audience. Stay tuned about Big Apple as well ;). After the show we had a home made cake which Anna made with tons of presents and balloons, which Zara loves. I think we have run out of room in the living room because my mom got her a huge life size Cinderella princess carriage which is taking up half of the space lol.  Speaking of taking up room, Aslan has officially taken up too much room and the other day made it clear he is ready to come out. Anna had her “bloody show” (will let you google that) so at this point we are on standby. At the very latest if he stalls we are going to have an induced labor by Wednesday, however it seems very likely he is coming before!  It is very unreal to think that my baby girl will have a brother and while we are all thrilled I also am concerned with my little Z adjusting to having a sibling. Naturally she will have spent  her whole life not knowing any different as she is so young. We are all very excited for our expanding family and my baby girl had an amazing birthday! It’s an exciting time and it will be the first time in a long time Anna’s family will all be together for Thanksgiving as they are all coming up for the arrival of Mr. Aslan! Till next time <3 #zarazand #aslanzand #thezands #kayvonzand

I AM HEARTBROKEN💔 my roomate threw away my great-grandmothers antique deacons bench. One of two family heirlooms I have from my Fathers side. After my Father passed away from cancer, my Grandmother died of a broken heart. When my mother and I were cleaning out my Grandma's house in Ohio I chose her beautiful handcarved wooden bench to keep. It sat at her dining room table and we ate many family meals sitting on it. I took it with me when I moved across the country. I used it as my studio bench and created art from it. I don't own much besides clothes and art supplies, but this was one of the most important objects in my life. My roomate claimed he thought it belonged to our third roomate and he threw it outside after she moved out. But she had only lived with us for 4 months and he and I have lived together for 2 years. It had been sitting in the dining room for a year and a half. He ate food from it and we shared conversation from it well before she ever moved in. Was he really so unaware of his surroundings, for sooo long? I just can't believe that to be true. This feels too cruel. I asked him to move a few pieces of her left behind furnature, BECAUSE I HAVE A BROKEN HAND and he seemed so resentful. I can't stop crying. How do I tell my Mother, she will be heartbroken. MEN ARE TRASH.

Inside of a hug no words are needed to feel loved, secured, confident and peaceful. 🤗 .
These two have grown to love each other so much.
.
When Lilly came home, she was so skittish and afraid, didn't trust men or other dogs, Spyro was already blind when she arrived, he has always been super friendly, it didn't bother him to have her around the house, but she always kept her distance. Lilly is now almost blind due to diabetes cataracts, they spend more together than ever before, love how they have a way of communicating with each other other and seek each other's company.

She's proof that is never too late to trust, to love and to have a joyful life.

Have a beautiful Tuesday!

He hated her. So he left her to die. But his mom overheard him talking to the friend about it and she made him call my landlord. It had been almost an hour since she got hit. And my landlord called me. And we both raced from our houses to get to my baby girl. and my landlord got there first. and he pushed me away before I could get close to her and said she’s gone. and my whole everything was blown to pieces so I was in trauma so when he told me to go home I did. but Moon Bear wasn’t dead. she was still alive fighting for her life. but he decided to take her life, to choke her throat and to be the one with her last breathe — instead of letting ME be the one to choose that!!!! so all that destroyed me. it was. The worst thing you could deliver me. that was the worst of the worst and the most painful journey. so videos and most everything else stopped right then. it took a year for this sweet Pisces soul to stop crying everyday. and it’s 3 years later and finally some normalcy is coming back to these parts. but one is videos again! they were my favorite!!! this is everything to me! so I wanted to let you know that I can’t wait to see you again soon 🌈

I’ve been talking to this girl who says she loves her boyfriend. They’ve been together for close to 10 years. She pays most of the bills, takes care of the house, looks good and he... well, he’s just there trying to figure himself out, not sure what to do with his life (he’s turning 30 soon). She wants him to propose, but he has no money for a ring, so she’s waiting. He can’t travel, because he’s broke, so if she wants to travel, she has to pay for him as well which she has been doing for the last couple of years. She’s asking me what to do, “Should I break up with him?” Um, yes you should unless you’re into losers 🤷🏼‍♀️. I can tell she’s not a fan of his lifestyle choices since it’s bothering her to the point of messaging me for advice.

So! Girls! When you get into a relationship, don’t just fall for his pretty eyes. You want a man you can respect and look up to. You want a man who you can be proud of. You want a man who can provide financial stability, someone you’ll feel safe around no matter what. You know, the kind that takes you in his arms and says, “Everything will be alright baby girl, I got you!” A guy that’s figuring himself out is not ready for a serious commitment! Let him go. He can call you back when he gets his shit together.
Of course there are exceptions, where guys are super ambitious and you two can grow as a couple. You’ll feel his go-getter attitude right away even if he’s still living at his parents’ house. But in this girl’s case, she’s been dragging him along for 10 years. Enough! He has no motivation to change, she’s been doing everything for him. Perhaps their breakup will give him a nice kick in the butt. Ladies, STOP DATING LOSERS!!!! Have some standards! 😫

As a moony teen I always imagined that the best I could do in love and life was to find a smart, beautiful, artistic woman and make a life with her. Lucky me! I believe with all my heart that putting that intention out into the universe has made all the difference for me ... for us. Because she too had put her own intentions out there. I feel so blessed to have found her and even more for the life we’ve made since that moment we clicked. Oh and how we clicked! I went home after our third date (she made me chili!) and told my Norwegian Elkhound, Tusk that I’d found her and that she was PERFECT! He smiled and wagged his amazing curled tail like he understood me perfectly. Maybe he did. So another intention I put out into the ether came after reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: I wanted to meet and party with the gonzo journalist, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Three years later I was picking him up at the airport for what would be a most amazing afternoon and evening. Someday I’ll write about it. For now I just want to say that it’s this quote of his that keeps me going now that there’s a horribly pernicious, freaky criminal the White House. So it probably goes without saying that my most recent “intention” involves living in a Trump-free America where people are kind and generous and open-minded. That and we get back to moving forward and not backwards. Have a blessed day my weirdo friends and family! #intentions #universe #embroidery #huntersthompson #blessings #love #vistacalifornia #vistaca #wishes #lizardland #rainyday #weirdos #goingpro #gonzo

I went to see @royceda59 & @jimmyfallon's Tonight Show House Band concert last night at Chene Park. Here's the recap. @miked.detroit came & got me & we picked @hiyelagurl up from some damn where downtown where she left her car. Something was wrong with her b/c she only yelled at me 48 times; I think she was sick. Any fucking way we went to the venue & the VERY first person I see is fucking @houseshoes, then I see Cansa The Rhino. I KNEW it was going to be a fucked up night. What followed was an impromptu coon reunion. I saw @blove210, @djtjtheking, @therealkdeezy, @powerboychuck @sugaraeradio, @belizeangyrl, @kphresh84, @__teg__, @awesomedre313, @djlos_the_original, & @kidvishis. Let me tell u, I've known Vishis since he was young as fuck. Since he was a kid, like a teenager. That muthafucka been drinking Muscle Milk & reading Jack Lalane books or something. He looks like fucking @og_kobra from BooYaa Tribe now. He needs to start a group w/ @hinoxl called 'NO PAIN, NO GAIN". Fuck this rap shit, Vish needs to try out for the @lions. I saw my guy Kino Childrey & @erykamarie who took care of me as per usual. Just realized that everybody I know named Eryka/Erykah/Erica/Arica rools.
Go figure.
Vishis opened while the crowd was coming in. Paying his dues. It's rough to be an opener, soon he'll have people opening for him. Next was @royceda59. Didn't get to holla at my dog, but I heard what I came to hear, "LET THEM WAIT", "HIP HOP", "SUMMER ON LOCK" & "BOOM". Man, I'm really proud of Royce; I remember when he was a total dick. I mean, he's still a dick, but not a total one. Sobriety changed Royce's life for the better. I can see that just from the tiny peek I get into it.
Then it was time for the Tonight Show House Band! I got history w/ these fucks. I was genuinely happy to see Keith McPhee, my man @kirklloyd & @tubagoodingjr.
Tuba.
Lord.
That's a whole nother story, I can't even get into that shit right now. I haven't seen him in 10 fucking years & he hasn't changed A BIT.
O yeah, these other two dudes were there too. The drummer & the front man. They're cool or whatever.
If u have never seen The Tonight Show House Band live u need to fix your life.

No such thing as a coincidence! In April I took Jamera to the Morgan State University Open House and she was the first person to meet President David Wilson when he entered the room. Today we had a full day with Admissions, Financial Aid, Bursars Office, Residence Life...you name it...I walked and made sure everything was taken care of. As we were walking to leave, who walks directly toward us...Yessssss....our President who stops to chat and officially welcome her as a “Bear” 🧡💙 Today was another day claimed that everything is going to work out. Thank you in abundance to those who donated to her Go Fund Me, sent cards, called and more importantly are keeping me in prayer on this journey.

. At age 23, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job.

If you haven’t found your dream career yet, it's not too late. You aren't lost because you haven't found fame and fortune by the age of 30. Hell, it's OK if you don't even know what your dream career is yet.
-
Never tell yourself you're too old to make it. Never tell yourself you missed your chance. Never tell yourself it's too late. Whatever you were born to do, you can still do it, and you will do it when the time is right.
-
Because the first step in finding your outer purpose is to find is your inner purpose. And your inner purpose is to awaken, to become conscious. You share this purpose with every other person on the planet, because it is the purpose of all of humankind. And it is the foundation for fulfilling your outer purpose; it is the basis for true success. You can still achieve things through boundless effort, struggle and exertion, but there is not much joy in such endeavor, and it inevitably will lead to some form of suffering. Greatness arises out of small things, done with attention and care.
-
So discover your true inner space. DO that work – contemplate, take that meditation course, read that book, retreat into silence, or do that breathing practice – and see, where it takes you from there.

While I was drawing, there was a man nearby telling his friend how afraid he is of Pauline Hanson and how worried he is that she quite possibly may gain more power still.
Just want to remind you to treat others kindly, some of us get through life smoothly enough, while others walk around afraid that their lives will change tomorrow at the hands of cruel politicians. Some people who want to live with us can't even make it over because they get locked up in off-shore detention centres before they are given a chance.
Keep pushing for change. Look after each other. ☀️

Woman Admits to Killing Her Father in 2006 After Finding His Child Porn Collection Which Included Naked Photos of Her - blogged by @MsJennyb

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On Wednesday, a woman was sentenced to nine years behind bars after she confessed to the brutal murder of her father over his collection of child porn, which including inappropriate pictures of herself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to Fox News, Barbara Coombes, 63, turned herself into police on Jan, 7. 2018, for the 2006 murder of her father, Kenneth Coombes. She said she “snapped” exactly 12 years prior when she found naked photos of herself and another kid in her father’s possession. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In her confession, Coombes said she had been her father’s “sex slave” for years, as well as his rape victim. She said he took her to a photography club, where he “forced her to display her genitals while other men took photos of her.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I could feel a black cloud appearing over me,” she said in court, as she explained the 2006 incident. “In a haze of disgust and disbelief, I picked up a shovel I had been gardening with and walked into the living room where my father was standing.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As she continued, she said she hit Kenneth in the back of the head with a shovel and slit his throat with a blade. After that, according to the Washington Post, she wrapped his body in a rug and buried him in the backyard. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To cover her tracks, Coombes told her family that Kenneth died suddenly and was cremated in the hospital, while the neighbors believed the man just disappeared. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
According to the publication, Coombes’ lawyer doubled down on his client’s statement. “She had no friends, no life outside the house where she was treated as a slave and controlled by her father and had no one to talk to,” Heslop said, ......to read the rest log on to BallerAlert.com (clickable link on profile)

This morning our sweet cat Willa was put to sleep. Our hearts are broken. She was such a beautiful and comforting presence in our family. She was so affectionate, when she purred she sounded like a bird chirping, and she was the most loyal, sassy, snuggly and soft animal. She slept at my feet every night; if one of us was sick, she wouldn’t leave our side. She had been sick for a few days but it wasn’t until last night that we realized she was having some neurological problems that were escalating quickly... it just kept getting worse, and once she saw the vet in the morning, he confirmed our fears that she was past the point of recovery. It was heart wrenching and terrible to see my beautiful, athletic cat become so sick so quickly. I’m thankful John and I stayed up with her, not leaving her side, just like she did for us. I’m thankful she knew she wasn’t alone. I’m thankful she’s no longer suffering. We miss her so much; it hurts. We buried her in a meadow on the edge of our woods and planted a white flowering cherry tree on top of her gravesite. We recounted our favorite memories of her, her many idiosyncrasies (if you tried to pet her she would lick you to death, she was the.messiest.eater because she scooped her food with her paw), and remembered that she had a good life - she was loved and she loved us, the 6th member of our family. She will always be a part of us and though the house feels empty and cold without her, and nothing could ever take her place, her life was a gift to us that we will never forget. Please read the next post (in 12 hours time) for the second half of the story.
Once upon a time there lived a woman who had a bad temper. She screamed at and scolded everyone around her. For most of her life she believed the fiery rage inside her was everyone else’s fault. But one morning she woke up and realised she had isolated herself from all the people in her life who she cared about. She had no friends, and even her family wanted nothing to do with her. She knew in that moment that she needed to make a change.
She went to see a well respected Buddhist monk to ask for advice. The monk told her to take a large clay jug from his kitchen, fill it with water, and stand outside on the sidewalk in front of his house. “It’s hot outside, and that’s a busy sidewalk with lots of pedestrians,” the monk told her as he pointed out the front window of his house. “When a pedestrian passes, you must offer them a glass of water. Do this until there is no rage left inside you”.
The woman with the bad temper was confused –she didn’t understand how this would help her. But she had heard that this monk was known for his unconventional wisdom and avant-garde methods of healing, and she was willing to do anything to heal herself and rebuild her relationships with those she cared about.
So she stood outside with a water jug and served water to pedestrians every day for the next several weeks. And every morning she asked herself if rage still pulsed through her veins. And every morning the answer was, “yes”. So she continued serving water. Until this afternoon when a burly man walked up, snatched the water jug out of her hand, drank directly out of it, and then tossed the jug on the ground as he continued on his way...

I remember when I was in elementary school, I had this ridiculously vivid dream that I was in a sleeping bag, having trouble breathing and I was being dragged by a man in a cornfield and then left to die. I remember the moment in the dream where my spirit left the body and then I was above it but it wasn't me. I recognized the face of a girl that had been missing for a while. I never met her but I remember people talking about her and they put ribbons all over the trees around town for her.
*Trigger warning* Within the next few days, I remember clearly that I was sitting in a vehicle, driving past the trees they decorated for her and the radio was turned up because they were talking about her...they were saying that she was found. She was found in a sleeping bag, near a cornfield & left in a ditch to die after being kidnapped, raped and strangled by someone close to the family. Years after this has happened, her story will find a way to pop back into my head or on social media as if there is a missing piece to the puzzle that has yet to be discovered about this case. There were a few different times I've researched it after the fact and didn't really find any different info that would stick out to me until this time. This time, after reading more and finding more info I noticed there were a few details that makes me wonder if the guy in prison for the rest of his life for it was the one who actually did it or was it pinned on him? The guy who is in prison for it not only had an alibi but his girlfriend at the time swears up and down that he is innocent and that it was pinned on him. Not only that but he was taken in after just about two days because there were quite a few people labeling him as the person who did it. The family of this girl was having a huge party the night she went missing but the one friend who stopped in to say hi & left with his girlfriend is in prison for it. What about all of the other adults that were spending the night at this party? How did this get past 20 or so adults? Her name was brought up to me recently again & I looked up the house that she encountered that horrible night to be surprised that I was passing it every single day.

"I can't live like this, Kristoff." Anna stroked the man's jaw with her fingers, resting her head on her other arm. "I need to go." The ocean blue of her eyes dulled over, and her red lips pulled into a depressed line. "Anna—" Kristoff shut his eyes, his eyebrows furrowing at her truth. "How am I supposed to do that? I can't." He fought back the lump in his chest that urged the fact she was right. "Kristoff, my love, think of all the adventures we've had. You made my life beautiful. But our time is up." Kristoff sighed, reopening his eyes. Anna smiled slowly, the empty sadness in her eyes haunting him. Letting go of his hand, she pushed herself backward against the porcelain of his bathtub. Her green tail glimmered in the early morning light as she dove herself under the water to get more air. Kristoff watched her, kneeling from the dry side of the tub enclosed in his own watercloset—not that he minded, for it was the only place he could be with Anna, the beautiful mermaid and love of his life. She soon rose, her auburn hair dripping wet but an innocent smile spread across her pink cheeks. "Remember when you caught me?" She giggled softly. "You were so scared that you had killed me. You were such a sweetheart." Again she rested her head on her hands, her blue eyes sparkling with sentiment. "I remember." Kristoff replied softly. "I was just a fisherman, I had no idea what to do when I accidentally caught a mermaid." He paused for a minute, thinking. "You were hurt badly due to my nets. I could never forgive myself for that." His voice had lowered again. He ran his hand through his blonde hair, casting his vision downward. "But you, being such a gentleman, took me in, huh?" Anna lifted his chin. "You brought me to your house so you could help me. You swore you would protect me at any cost." She flipped her tail in the water playfully, splashing. Some of the water bounced up, droplets falling on Kristoff's cheeks. He smiled briefly. "And I've lived in your bathtub ever since." She finished. She broke into a grin. "I love you, fisherman." She said. (Continued in comments) #icemastersoneshots

I met the most beautiful lady today at the grocery store. Her name is Bailey and I just had to stop her to tell her how beautiful and well dressed she looked. She went on to tell me that she was 84 years old and that she had lost her house and car during Harvey and was living with her son now. She told me she use to do some modeling, and had a wonderful husband of 45 years who truly loved her and who although he was gone, she still talked to everyday. She told me how lucky she was to have been so loved and adored by him, and how he saw her on stage in college at a contest and told his friend that he was going marry the girl with the legs. She went on to tell me how he told his family from the North, who were very wealthy and had invented smear less ink, that he had found his southern bell at college at Sam Houston University and was going to marry her. A complete stranger who opened up her heart and shared her life story with me just because I gave her a compliment. Wow, what life would be like if this happened more often. She reminded me of my own Mema, a beautiful, elegant, well put together lady who knows how to celebrate life, beauty and most importantly, HERSELF, with a grocery basket full of fresh flowers. Definitely my kind of style!!! Thank you God for this sweet lady and her precious message from above! 🙏💐🌸❤️ #beauty #agelessbeauty #beautyatanyage #bailey #kindnessofstrangers #photooftheday #mygrandmaelvis #mygrandmaelvisbook

Not the weather, cause it's still hot as crap and rainy every now and then, and the mosquitos are vicious, but the work is going fantastic! Our mission has 11 zones and we've got this competition going to see who can get the most points from things like contacts and having lessons and getting new investigators and things like that. Our zone won!
Sure there's some off days every now and then, like on Thursday when we got 10 doors slammed in our faces in a row. But that just helps you treasure the good moments. Like when we found a lizard hanging from Elder Harmon's butt. Good times. We had tons of great moments this week. Awesome lessons, awesome people, awesome food.
One house we went to had an 8 year old boy outside dressed as a cop. He tried to arrest us for parking our bikes on a lamppost. It was pretty adorable, until he started using interesting cop rhetoric like "Y'all better scram before I impound your bikes" and "don't let me catch y'all around these parts again." We decided to take off when he pulled an airsoft gun on us.
The elders quorum hosted a game of family fued at the church. I had no idea I was that bad at bible trivia. How am I supposed to know who's wife turned to salt? We've been teaching this older woman named Elaine for a while. She has a handicapped son named Marcus who helps coach the high school football team. Elaine has had trust issues for a while, so she was a bit apprehensive about talking to us. But the other day, she really opened up to us about how she's struggled a lot in life with depression and lonliness and taking care of Marcus. I shared with her my testimony of how much the Lord has blessed me in my life and how He's guided me through depression and anxiety and made me the man I am today. She told me she knows I'm a genuine messenger of God because I'm young and I've already been able to recognize the Lord's hand in my life. She thanked us for coming into her life and helping her find God again. It's the greatest feeling ever when you know that you've been able to help someone find peace (more below)

#s2isakhiseries

She waits until it gets dark for her husband to fall asleep before getting up to tip-toe around the house. Each step is carefully placed so as to not make a sound and wake either her husband or her in-laws. However, every sound that she does make – every footstep, every creak of a door - seems to be amplified in the quiet hours of the night. This only serves to heighten her anxiety further.
How did she end up in this mess? She asks herself over and over. She would never have agreed to this marriage had she known what her in-laws were really like. She can’t stand the thought of bringing up any children in this house. It wasn’t always like this. She had a good life. A good upbringing. Her parents are religious people, people of substance. They are not obsessed with money and status like her in-laws have proved to be. The life she had, of her childhood, has all gone now – it is but a memory.
Her thoughts turn towards her Beloved and instantly she feels more at peace. Stopping to pick up some gifts she leaves the house and wanders into the night sky, moving quickly, she is fearful but also full of anticipation.
She reaches the Haveli of her father in-law, where she understands her Beloved to be. Guards are scattered all over, standing and watching. In fear, she does not dare go near them but manages to get the attention of one and motions for him to come over. Taking out some gold jewellery she presents this to the guard. Telling him to keep quiet she says that I wish to see Guru Sahib Ji, do not tell anyone and especially do not mention this to my father in-law, Chandu. The guard is very pleased when he sees the gold jewellery and allows her through telling her not to take too long. He is happy to take the jewellery but at the same time is fearful of losing his job.

How About No Blurb:
Wade had everything he could ever want in life…then he lost it.

Now, his life—his forever girl—is living in a house he built for her while he’s struggling to move on and find meaning where there isn’t any to be found.

Landry Hill was his girl. His everything. His first kiss. His first and only love. His old lady and wife.

Then one day he does something monumentally stupid, and she walks away knowing she’ll never come back.

Fast forward five years, and he’s still just as in love with her now as he was when she left. The only problem is that she’s moved on with her life, found a new man, and seemingly forgotten him. Then there’s Wade—stuck in the same awful place where she abandoned him. The only thing he has left is his job as a police officer and the Bear Bottom MC.

Just when they both think things can’t get any worse, life kicks them both in the teeth, and Landry finds out really quick that the only person she can depend on is the one that let her walk away.

With that understanding comes a deal. One that Landry has no hope of ever breaking free from, and one Wade will do everything in his power to make a reality.

But one thing is still certain. The force that split them apart is still out there, and there’s no hope of escaping fate.

She had just separated from her husband, a man who, were he to be characterized as a textbook narcissist, would be getting off stupidly easy.
.
It had taken everything she had within her–all the chutzpa and homeschooling and homemade meatballs–for her to leave, which is to say that she didn’t exactly take a whole lot with her when she left, other than their five children.
.
Back then, underneath her resilience and pluck, she was shaky with doubt. She was doing the thing, but just barely. (Which, for the record, is just enough.)
.
I spent most of that summer living at her house, witnessing the epic-ness of scorched earth, newfound freedom, and blind faith.
.
Two years later, and we were standing in her sons’ room again. For the most part, everything looked as I had left it. Only everything was different now. .
As we got down on the floor to sort through a bin of toys, she adjusted her shirt, which stretched over her expanding belly–number six. A rush of fur burst into the room, wagging his tail and stealing the first plastic dinosaur he found, which he would contentedly chew to imperceptible bits.
.
“Babe?” She called out for her fiancé. “Ollie’s being a menace; can you come take him?”
.
“Oh my gosh,” I said. “You did it.”
.
“Did what?” She said, in her classic upbeat, casual superhero, “what this old thing?” tone.
.
“You 180-ed your whole life.”
.
She smiled.
.
“Two years ago, you had just left a horribly shitty, toxic marriage, you were pretty much on your own, wondering who would want to get seriously involved with a single mother of five children, and now look at you: engaged to a completely amazing guy, pregnant with a little babe, pup-mom, about to move in to a house you just bought with the partner you’ve always deserved. You 180-ed that shit.”
.
She laughed. “Yeah,” she said, “I did.”
.
She had joined the ranks of The Unstoppable, the Inspirational, the It’s-never-too-late, you’re-never-too-old, any-kind-of-life-can-be-yours-when-you-choose-to-claim-it.
.
Her life had become the loveliest, most incontestable retort to the question, “You think you can’t begin again?”

THE STORY OF Ms DANNY

She was a destitute when he walked into her life like an angel sent from above
Her parents were killed by herdsmen when he stepped in showering her with love
Took responsibility for her upkeep with that of her siblings as if they were his own
Their place of abode was overran by the terrorists, he gave them shelter in his home

She was a teenager who had no place to go and he appeared as a Good Samaritan
No sooner than she expected he proposed to marry her, she accepted as 'God’s plan'
Danny was the only man she knew, without him she felt her life would be worthless
Yeah, you wouldn’t blame her coz he was good in bed & to her, it was priceless

But his shortcoming was he was hot tempered and sometimes he was violent
Not wanting people to know about it, she tolerated him & kept the abuse silent
He has done so much for her, she was willing to make sacrifices to her own detriment
Her whole world was built around him so she felt she could endure every mistreatment

Danny was a good man she believed being patient with him would someday pay off
She was just naïve, she allowed him domineer her life coz he was paying for every stuff
Filled with hubris, he felt he owned her like a property he could do anything he wanted
Daily she gave him her all to make things work but he was just taking her for granted

She lived in fear coz if he sent her packing she had no other source of help
May be she wasn’t doing enough to please him sometimes she faulted herself
Coz over the years he made her believe without him she would not survive
She had no job to sustain her, how would her siblings depending on her also thrive?

People take advantage of other people in dire circumstances and Danny was no Saint
Coz he helped her it’s not enough reason to be cruel to her if you get the picture I paint
Verbally he denigrated her aside the physical torture she always suffered in his house
He had no respect for her, he treated her like a maid he wasn’t proud of her as his spouse... Continued in the comment section.

Patsy Takemoto Mink served in the US Congress from 1965-1977 and again from 1990-2002, where she represented Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District. The first woman of color elected to the US House of Representatives, she worked tirelessly for civil rights, women's rights, economic justice, civil liberties, peace, and the integrity of the democratic process. Patsy was born in Paia, Hawaii Territory, on December 6, 1927. She graduated from Maui High School in 1944 as class president and valedictorian. She became her high school’s first female student body president only one month after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in her home state. She was denied admission by all twenty of the medical schools to which she had applied. Because she was a she and not a he. She went instead to the University of Chicago Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctor in 1951. Moving back to Hawaii Patsy passed the bar exam in 1953, and established a solo practice to become the first Japanese-American woman to practice law in the Territory of Hawaii. Three years later Patsy Mink was elected to Hawaii’s Territorial Legislature, and two years later to its Senate. Six years later, in 1964, she made history when she became the first Asian-American woman elected to the US Congress. In 1972 she was the principal author and sponsor of a law that required equal financing for women’s athletics and academics at federally funded institutions—Title IX Amendment of the Higher Edcuation Act of 1972. Her law, together with the larger women’s movement, changed the world. Women’s representation in US higher education rose from a tenth to half and more, and the achievements of her law-making became an example for the rest of the world. For over four decades, Mink championed the rights of immigrants, minorities, women, and children, and worked to eradicate the kind of discrimination she had faced in her life. She was known for her integrity, determination, tenacity, and honesty. After her death in 2002, Title IX was renamed the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act. In 2014, Mink was awarded a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. #wcw #herstory

Is nature's most vivid characteristic. Two sparrows lay dead on around the edge of their fresh made, neatly woven collection of twigs, leaves and trash- or what we call a nest- and what they call home. Both fell victim to the tragedy of a kid at shooting practice- the female had a hole in her stomach from the bullet, and the male had his heart shot out. To a human, this is nothing evil- but more of a sport. However to the three hungry hatchlings whom cry and cry for food, this is a death sentence. Flash forward maybe two or three days, and you'll see nothing in the nest, for it has been emptied- Even the bodies of the parents have been mostly cleaned up by the ants! The hatchlings were probably picked up by a predator and devoured- they had no chance of life the moment their parents were killed. Well what if this story was changed from birds being hunted, to humans being murdered? Both mommy and daddy lay dead with their blood staining the polished white tile floor, and little Iris was left alone in the house with the big-scary-man-with-the-gun. She was kidnapped and taken to his house, where she grew up a servant. That was all she knew, she was too young to remember life with her parents- all she had to comfort her was the chains around her wrists. The only reason Iris was even alive was because the murderer felt like taking mercy on the child- and so she grew up answering to his each and every command. One day, they went out in public to a far off city in search of her master's new target. They were in the market place, gathering food for the night- and Iris was carrying all the groceries for him the way she always would- when she accidentally tripped and dropped everything. The murderer didn't waist a second, a hard blow hit her hard on the side of the face repetitively, and he shouted, "what kind of clumsy little bastard are you? God! You can never do anything right!" Iris cowered on the ground, not daring to make even the slightest of noises in fear of an even worse punishment. The public humiliation was horrible, he kicked her down and kicked her stomach a few times again, just to make sure that she learned her lesson.

Saint Mary of Jesus Crucified:
Born to Giries Baouardy and Mariam Shahine, a poor Greek Melchite Catholic family. Twelve of her thirteen brothers died in infancy, and Mary's birth was an answered prayer to Our Lady. Her parents died when Mary was only two, and she was raised by a paternal uncle. Moved to Alexandria, Egypt at age eight.
Betrothed in an arranged marriage at age 13, she refused to go along with it, insisting on a religious life. As punishment for her disobedience, her uncle hired her out as a domestic servant, making sure she had the lowest and most menial of jobs. A Muslim servant with whom she worked began to act as her friend with an eye to converting her from Christianity. On 8 September 1858, Mary convinced him she would never abandon her faith; in response he cut her throat and dumped her in an alley. Mary lived, an apparition of the Virgin Mary treated her wound, and she left her uncle's house forever.
She supported herself as a domestic, working for a Christian family and praying. In 1860 she moved in with the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Supernatural events began to occur around her, and the Sisters would not let her join their house. She was taken to the Carmel at Pau by a Sister in 1867, and became a lay sister. Later that year she entered the cloister, taking the name Mary of Jesus Crucified, and making her final profession on 21 November 1871.
She continued to experience supernatural events. She fought off a demonic possession for 40 days, received the stigmata, was seen to levitate, had the gift of prophecy and knowledge of consciences, and permitted her guardian angel to speak through her. Helped found the missionary Carmel of Mangalore, India. Returned to France in 1872. Built a Carmelite monastery in Bethlehem in 1875. Supernatural gifts aside, she was known for her devotion to the Holy Spirit, even sending word to Pope Pius IX that the Spirit was not emphasized enough in seminaries.

26 August 1878 at Bethlehem of gangrene following an injury received at the construction site of the Bethlehem monastery

<Synopsis> ⠀ ⠀
Miko leaves the house of her parents to live with her uncle who runs a boarding house, but her first meeting with Matsunaga-san isn't good and then he discovers that she is one of her uncle's tenants. Even as a secondary student she surrounds herself with university students who have a very different life from her own. Can she fit into her new home?⠀
--- ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀
<Overall & Short Opinions> ⠀
Story [7/10]: ⠀
Why am i getting back the Hirunaka No Ryuusei vibe? Unknowing concidental meeting, turns out having a bad and weird impression. Leaves parents' house to live with uncle. Male protagonist having a close relationship with uncle. Age-gap love. Spectacled-eye male protagonist. Eventually falls in love with him because of his continuous saving when problem arrives and his kindness. CAN YOU SEE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THESE TWO MANGA? ⠀

Throughout the story, I love how the author still constantly brings about Miko's change in living with everyone else who is much more older than her. It has great potential to be a family and romance-themed manga (instead of focusing only on romance), which I'm still looking forward to! ❤ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Characters [8/10]: ⠀
As far as I've seen, there's been small showcases of Miko's character development from the first day when she stepped in a new environment, living with adults and being uncomfortable and insecure to eating meals and having a welcoming party altogether. I really do wanna see more interactions between the other tenants and her since the rest of 85% is focused on the love development between Matsunaga and Miko. But the chemistry between the both of them is getting really good and they already feel a lot like close friends and soulmates which is so adorable❣ WHERE CAN I GET A MATSUNAGA-SAN FOR MYSELF *sobs for my single life* ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Drove by this super fun house on the eastern shore and told dave we had to pull over so i could get a picture. Don’t you want to know who‘s living in a house like this?! Or see the inside? I do! (EDIT: so I did some googling last night and looked up Maud and her house after several people mentioned her in the comments, i had never heard of her! and she had a little White House that she painted a little on the outside, and then inside it was painted from floor to ceiling! So cool! Look it up 👀✨but this is not the same house, much bigger and actually covered in wood carvings of folk artist/wood carver named Barry Colpitts! Turns out, this is his gallery! I want to go back now and check out his gallery inside! So cool! But yes his style and Mauds are kind of similar, his is more based in carving, and likely he was inspired by her, but they are both folk artists from Nova Scotia. Apparently there are more of them here! Interesting✨) it really inspires me. I believe in personalization and making things our own. Resisting the urge to go cookie cutter, in however we show up in the world and in whatever space we have, with our own little touches. not that we can’t have similarities or be influenced by each other but to find our individuality. Reminds me of this great quote i often think about. I took a screenshot of from the internet at least a decade ago (edit: found out Helena Bonham Carter said it): ✨
“I think everything in life is art. What you do. how you dress. The way you love someone and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea and how you decorate your home. Or party. Or grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel.” ✨
I just love that. I believe that! It’s a lifestyle. And you know what I think is cool about people doin’ their thing, someone might see how you tie your scarf or write your name, or hear how you tell a story, drive by your colorful artsy house, and it just might inspire them to go out there and figure out what they like, and to create a life in their own way. It inspires me anyway 🤷🏼‍♀️💛 #NovaScotia

Forever grateful to Scott and a team of incredible firefighters who saved our home and my neighbors home last night from going up in flames . He took this picture of flames approaching our homes.
Words can’t describe the emotional roller coaster we went though last night.
But we are some of the lucky ones , friends have lost Entire homes, belongings , pets.
Possessions accumulated over the years wrapped up in a whole lot of memories and feelings , just evaporated.
Heartbroken for them.
Tonight is another night , praying the winds take it easy on Malibu and all the areas affected .
The work of the firefighters and members of the Malibu community who chose to stay and fight it , is just unreal. Real life heroes 🙌🏽 #malibufire

This was last night at 3:30 in the morning as I was pulling into one of my houses under construction. To say The firemen are great and the firemen save my life and the firemen save my house. The statements above say much about these guys, that we all hear pretty much all the time. I’ve driven around the last two days, checking on my projects. Last night I went over to #thewho to check it, the wind had turned back to the east. As I pulled up the driveway and saw the glow.....that we all fear, it brought tears to my eyes.... these guys, these fire fighters were on the roof, all 28 of them. They were able to save not just mine, but my clients my friends my neighbors. If you have never stood next to them while they fight to save you shit or save anything for that matter, you have no clue just how great they are... I meet Chris the captain, he said to me “are you ok” I said I’m not sure. He told me not to worry that they would do whatever they could. I asked him, why not put the fire out and he told me.... she has not come to us yet..... are you fucking kidding, these dudes wait for the fire to come, they never chase it down.... balls brave resilient amazing fucking crazy professional sincere honest firefighters, saving her ass every day. Thank you so very much.... #alwayshelpothers as you would want them to help you.....

A man's widow says police need one more piece of information to finally put her husband's killer behind bars.

Selena Pinkney says police need someone to come forward to help solve the murder of her husband, David. "They know who this person is, they do know it's a young guy," she said. "They don't have the witness statement to put, to say he did it." On February 2, 2017, David had gone out, which Selena says was not unusual.

But he never came home. "That's when I started calling and calling and he wasn't answering which was odd," she said.

The next morning, Selena dropped their baby daughter at her mother's house and went to work.

That's when she says she got the call that changed her life. "My father called me to say 'I'm sorry for your loss' not realizing he was telling me that he was killed," she said.

Just after midnight police were called to the 1800 block of South 58th Street in Southwest Philadelphia.

That's where they found David suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the hospital a couple of hours later. "Apparently he was at an after-hours place where he was where this took place," Selena said.

Selena says she was told that David had gotten into a verbal altercation with someone inside the bar. "He came out to leave, got in the car and the guy walked up on him and shot him through the driver's side window," she said.

The City of Philadelphia is offering up to $20,000 in reward money for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

All you have to do is call the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS.

All calls will remain anonymous. "I just want to be able to tell my daughter, when I have to explain this to her, I just want to be able to say to her 'They got him,'" said Selena.

Bennie is a sweet, timid boy who was adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten, then returned five years later when circumstances in his home changed. Adopted in April 2018, he returned after six months because his new family was experiencing major medical and financial issues and could no longer care for him. Having been an only cat his entire life, Bennie found the adult cats in the shelter extremely intimidating and spent his time hiding and avoiding coming into contact with them. After coming to the adoption room at the Lynnwood PetSmart and being there a while, Bennie relaxed and opened up - chatting with volunteers and visitors about his abiding love of wet food, requesting skritches, and eventually playing with kittens in the room! Margaret was initially considering adopting a kitten, but ultimately decided on adopting an older kitty who needed her more. She not put off by Bennie's needing a prescription diet to prevent urinary crystals and understood the need for him to have a small, protected space at home while he acclimates to his new life. She’s retired, has a quiet home, (exactly what Bennie needs) and has set up several cozy spots up high for lounging and napping when Bennie’s is ready for free rein of the house. We’ve been waiting for this loveable, chatty boy to find his match and we couldn’t be happier for him!

Domestic Violence Prevention ✨✨✨Benefit Gala ✨✨✨ “If we are to fight discrimination and injustice against women we must start from the home for if a woman cannot be safe in her own house then she cannot be expected to feel safe anywhere.”
-Aysha Tarya

Domestic violence changed my entire family dynamic at the tender age of 11. My beloved Aunt LaShawn was brutally murder in front of my cousins, her children, by someone that once claimed to love her. Death is ALWAYS hard. But it’s something about losing someone you love so much In a horrific way. You don’t ever get over it, you think of ways you wish you could have helped, you conjure up ideas of how you, yourself would kill her killer, you think about the what’s if’s. What if she just left that morning instead of staying one more night. What if... To this day her children, her siblings and all who else knew and loved her have an empty void in their life where she should be. Nothing comes close to filling the void and every day when you see someone has been killed by a “lover” your wounds become tender and open and just like that you’re back at the moment when you found out your beloved was killed, robbed of a beautiful long life. And if i’m honest, my Aunt Tiana, who I recently posted and I still mourn, suffered from a broken heart which is one of the things I believe killed her in the end. Guilt and blame engulfed her despite it not being her fault at all. This is just another example of many on how domestic violence damages entire families. Like many, my aunt LaShawn was strong and decided to leave her abuser and succeeded in making a life for herself but he quickly snatched that way. Sadly, Statistics show that women (and men) are more in danger and likely to be killed when they try to leave an abusive relationship. If you are in an abusive relationship have a plan, ask for help and remember that you CAN MAKE IT. There are people out there that value you, love you and will help you.
Rest in love and peace Aunty LaShawn and Aunty Tiana. I’m always thinking of you.

Meet my grandparents, Mr. Chandra Lal Sah Thulgharia and Mrs. Champa Sah. Herr they are somewhere in the Kumaon Hills in northern India. In spite of having completely opposite personalities, these two complimented each other beautifully.
.
He was a classic Gemini — social, outgoing, liberal, enterprising and a forward thinker. He started the Nainital mountaineering club which trained youth to explore the hills, a devout Aurobindo follower, he spent a few months every year in Auroville. As an educator he served as the assistant principal in Chet Ram Sah Thulgharia college in Nainital, a boys school named after his father and my great grandfather. A passionate traveller who didn't lose a chance to take us kids along. A lover of animals, no breakfast of his was complete without feeding the pets thickly buttered toast with his own hands. As a mountaineer, he had many friends from the fraternity and we would often have Germans, Japanese and English mountaineers at home before and after an expedition.
.
A wonderful orator, lover of the English language, a passionate photographer, a diary keeper and lovingly titled 'Buju' by the people of Nainital.
.
Ama was the complete opposite. She was calm, composed and introvert. Married at 16 and armed with an English education extremely rare for a woman of her time. She hated to cook and never entered the kitchen all her life. She loved being home and we only saw her venturing out with her army of servants only to her mother's home.
.
Extremely elegant, she had the most beautiful hands. Nimble and warm, she would always rub our hands and make them warm in the cold cold winters back home. She despised cats and loved talking on the phone for hours. A strong headed woman, she was the bookkeeper of the house.
.
Whenever I think of them, one warm fuzzy thought fills my mind: I can never forget how lovingly she packed his suitcase whenever he went to travel.
I would watch her carefully pick out his suits, handkerchiefs and matching socks and then assemble his shaving kit and finally came the shoes on top. Small gestures of a cherished companionship.

She ran to the managers office to report and get help but instead she was kidnapped as you see on the video. She was allegedly offered cash and threatened not to say anything.
She went to Club Memphis on Monday around 11pm for cocktails with some friends. Barbuh (The rape suspect), a friend of hers spotted her and after catching up he asked if she could walk with her to his car to pick up something. On reaching the car, Barbuh took a piece of cloth with some chemical compound and forced it on her nose. She felt dizzy and was dragged to the backseat of his car. Barbuh's friend sat at the front seat and watched him rape my friend. She couldn't move an inch. Some guys walked by the car and Barbuh peeped, she took the chance to quickly push him and ran quickly back to the club trying to put on her trousers.
She went to report the matter to the club manager but to her shock, the club manager allegedly offered her money to keep quiet on the matter. When she refused, they threatened her life and some men took her out of the club from the manager's office not knowing they were kidnapping her.
She passed out and when she came to, found herself in a house deep in Kiambu with some two ladies who her told to watch over her. Her phone was in one of the ladies jackets and when one of them went to the washroom, she quickly picked her phone and ran out of the house. Called her mom and told her to track the phone.
CID offers came to the house and rescued her, took her to Kiambu General Hospital and recorded her statement under OB Number: OB 28/21/8/2018 at Kiambu Police Station.
The suspects were later released and the police claimed there wasn't sufficient evidence.
All she wants is Justice! The manager at Memphis should not have tried to cover the rape! He should not have tried to bribe her to shut up about it! It's wrong! How many girls have gone through the same at Club Memphis!? Help speak out and save the lives of other innocent girls out there!! Justice is all we want!! Names:
Rape Suspect: Barbuh
Kidnapper in Maasai Blanket: Fred

We want Justice!! @memphisbarest @citizentvkenya

I kept telling myself that this was all just a dream and had started to believe it. Until I heard a knock at the door and Elaine came bursting in.
"Good morning." I say slightly startled.
Elaine just stares at me and looks like she's about to cry.
"Is something wrong?" I ask and watch as she walks towards to couch before stopping.
We stand there is silence. "I never told you why I couldn't keep my baby." Elaine suddenly blurts out.
"No......" I say in a confusion.
"It wasn't really my business to ask." "My father forced me into a marriage." Elaine says. "We have been poor my whole life so when he saw the chance for me to marry a rich man he took it." She stops and sighs and I stand there waiting for her to continue.
"I know my father just wants the best for us but I don't love him. I had an affair with the man I do love and now I'm having his child." Elaine turns to look at me with tears streaming down my face.
"When my father found out he told me he would kill my baby and the man I love. I begged him not to and if it wasn't for you stumbling across this house and taking my kid he would." She smiles and takes my hand before frowning again.
"But you need to be careful Skylar. My dad hates this kid and if my husband finds out he'll hunt you down. You can't stay here and be safe." She says and I just stand there staring at her. I can feel my eyes widen to the size of saucers.
"What on earth do you mean?" I finally say.
"I mean that once you have custody of my child everyone in this area will be hunting for them and the only thing between them and my child is you. They'll want to get you too." She says and squeezes my hand for reassurance.
"But I just found this house I can't leave now I have a family!" I yell.
"I know I promise I'll help you Skylar but you need to trust me and leave once my child's born. Please Skylar." Elaine begs and I sigh.
What on earth have I gotten myself into.

A Customary Court in the Iseyin area of Oyo State has dissolved a 7-year old marriage over the husband’s high sexual desire, Vanguard is reporting.

The wife, identified as Baliki, approached the court asking for dissolution of union, sayings it’s “for the sake of my life”. She said: "My husband wants to kill me with sex. He demands sex more than he does food; he wants to have sex with me six times in a day before he gets satisfied.

Arowolo goes to the farm very early in the morning and would not wait for me to bring his lunch, but come home in the afternoon just to have sex twice, before he goes back to the farm and would still make demands when he returns at night.

Anytime I try to resist him, he will beat me till I surrender. I have decided to quit for the sake of my life. My lord, please dissolve this marriage." The husband, Arowolo, did not refute his wife’s claims, but prayed the court to plead to Baliki on his behalf.

He said: "I have worked very hard to solve this problem of incessant sex urge to no avail. “The truth is that I can’t cope with life without sex.
I can’t work, eat or play; sex is more important to me than anything else in life.

I have been suffering since she packed out of our house about 10 days ago; I have not been going to work. I have begged her relatives to plead with her on my behalf." Arowolo said that he’ll check his high libido if Baliki returns. She refused.

President of the court Adelodun Raheem dissolved the marriage, saying all efforts to plead with the wife and her relatives were unsuccessful.

Raheem granted custody of the couple’s 6-year old son to Baliki and ordered Arowolo to pay N2,500 weekly for the child’s upkeep.

Twice a month, Aisha walks her 5-year-old son CJ across the street to her mother’s house and climbs on the van up to Smithfield to see her man. With her on each trip comes a small album. After each visit, she slips a new photograph in the glassine sleeves. In the early photos her hair is uncovered because although most of her family is Muslim, she pledged her faith just last year. “I didn’t take shahada until I was ready,” Aisha said. Samad, her man, is also Muslim. He told her she had to find Allah on her time. And now when she arrives in the visiting room in her long khimar, he teases her. “He was like, I never thought you would ever put the weave down.” Taking shahada “made me humble. Focused. Keep me calm,” Aisha told @everydayincarceration for the project #WomenOnTheOutside, which follows stories of women who support incarcerated loved ones.. Calm can be elusive between parenthood and prison. CJ’s father is also incarcerated. “My son’s dad got 7 to 15 years,” Aisha explained. “I take my son up there to go see him, send him pictures. It can be very overwhelming. I get frustrated. I get so mad.” In 2016 Aisha lost her job as a nursing assistant. She couldn’t visit Samad for 60 days. Aisha is trying to build a life that puts prison behind them. “I’m trying to get things together so when you come home we’ll be fine, so you can get right into what you need to do as far as being a man, a father, a husband,” she told Samad. She closes the photo album, and touches the blue cover. “It’s a memory, but it’s a memory not to go back to.” Photographer @zorajmurff took this photo for #WomenOnTheOutside, produced by @zarakatz and Lisa Riordan Seville. Swipe left to see photos of Aisha with her boyfriend, Samad and the photo album that holds a collection of visiting memories. Really living—living with each cell of our souls.

I went through messages I had with @mindy the last few days. I think we do this because when someone dies, there are no new memories. We grasp to what we had in hopes to feeling them.

There were so many “How are you’s?” I asked. Answered with “I’m traveling the world with my man. I love him to bits. Life is dope.” I first saw Megan on @sylvia.tennant Instagram. I was in awe of her. “Who is this bright being?”, my spirit asked.

I wrote her that we had the same hair and that I thought we would also be great friends.

We FaceTimed while she was in Bali shortly after and she shared her life story with me of how she was living her dope ass life.

She was once working in the corporate world of Vancouver, kicking ass and building her way up the chain we climb.

She met @wanderlust and he asked her to leave her job for one month and come travel the world with him.

She went and after returning realized she couldn’t work her 9-5 and quit. She didn’t know what she wanted to do but knew it was not her 9-5.

One day her mom showed up with some magazines and said, “Let’s make a vision board!” She rolled her eyes a little bit but partook.

She told me she remembers slapping photographs of travel, adventure, luxury villas, cups of black coffee, a camera onto a board.

Shortly after she started a company where she created beautiful content for luxury resorts internationally.

She got paid to drink that coffee, play with her camera and sleep in 1-2k a night villas all over the world.

She was quick, intelligent and a brilliant business woman and manifestor.

I continuously have shared her story with clients, friends and strangers I meet because of her courage and success at waking away from a life that wasn’t in alignment and creating one that not only was but alivened her and inspired this world.

The first time we hung out I left my Jeep parked in the parkade by her house for days.

This sweet girl is going over the 🌈 bridge today, Mum wanted you all to know. Her vet will come to our house because we don’t want to stress her needlessly anymore. She’s had 7 vet visits in less than three weeks. I always promised her that I would never put her through that again or let her be in pain again so we are making the heart-breakingly difficult decision. I had a long talk with her neurologist this morning (who seriously is one of the best human beings I know) and he assured me that this is the right decision. We will be donating Zoe’s body to him to do an autopsy and determine her cause of death so he can have more data on the terrible Nerve Sheath Cancer. Zoe has lived a BIG life. She lived HARD and I love her to pieces for it. More importantly, she was my ROCK - through thick and thin. I have no idea how I will navigate life in the next few weeks without my sidekick but I know that she is ready and thanks me for doing what is right for her. Later today she will be greeted by so many of her wonderful IG friends, her #bff Baxter and my Mum. For now, we are going to eat some 🥓. Thanks everyone for checking in. 💚🐶 #thedoodle #goldendoodle #tripawd #caninecancer

2) Her sister’s suffered from her anger more than Robert did, she herself suffered from her anger more than Robert did

10) HERE’S MY CONCLUSION: Robert should have paid the new chic $10million dollars for making the battery deal go through, then go back and FIGHT for Taraji, and do for her everything he always promised. That right there is- LOYALTY!

She described her job as heart breaking because she saw first hand how humans wasted away.. "It's as if they snapped" she said .it was Sheer dementia..Men and women who could no longer recognize their spouses or families .She talked about a man who would dress up in corporate suit with briefcase in hand to pitch biz ideas to an imaginary audience. He was trapped in a world that existed in his own mind. She fed, bathed them and gave them their meds as part of her job as a care giver..she described most of the people in that home as poor lost souls... Then many years later I heard Grace was back in the nursing home, no longer a care giver but a house mate.!! She allowed life happen to her.. Driven to a place of no return!!
What has this got to do with the rotten apple? I bought this succulent looking red Apple l(eft) yesterday and happily sat down to enjoy it .. But what did I get? A rotten apple (right.)I was angry and threw it away and picked another which turned out very juicy! Life can be like that apple, totally unpredictable , full of disappointments, let downs , rottenness, dashed hopes and broken dreams.. U get what u didn't bargain for, u get a wrong package ! But what do you do ?? Let that bad apple ruin your mood and throw you into a state of melancholy and lamentation? No way! As long as we live, there will be trials and tribulations and days of near meltdowns but we shld realise that no one can save us but we ourselves , we may not be able to change our destinations but we can change the direction ..if only Grace realised that and didn't totally give in and give up when life wounded her by taking her only child . You never know what life is going to serve u but don't allow it to break you totally. We must like a tennis ball bounce back after every hard knock. The sun always comes out eventually .....be strong . Sometimes you just have to find the courage to carry on... We must power up no matter what life throws at us!!!!

Each song in #mughaleazam was a nugget with #naushad at his creative peak as a composer. And #latamangeshkar singing with abandon and pain. Be it the #bekaspekaram, the qawwali or #pyarkiya. #pyarkiya still remains lataji’s most requested song along with #lagjaagale. And the magical sensuality of #Madhubala. I’m enchanted every time I catch frames of the will-o-wisp beauty. Just how could someone be so accomplished and so beautiful. Whom the gods love die young. #Madhubala who was barely given two years to live by doctors, lived for nine years after #mughaleazam was released. Imagine being bed ridden in the prime of her youth. From 27 to 36, she saw life ebb away from her inch and inch. Because of her pulmonary defect, excess blood would collect and ooze from her nose and mouth. The doctors would have to be summoned every time. An oxygen cylinder would be placed because every few hours she would be gasping for breath. But she bathed on her own and ate her food by herself. Producers and directors and fans would come calling but she would see no one. Dilip Kumar visited her once at breach candy hospital where reportedly she asked him if she would work again with him and he said yes.
She was heartbroken when he married and would say his wife was a very lucky girl. She would hear the song #rulakegayasapnamera from #jewelthief
Call it ego or whatever, after a nine year courtship, Dilip Kumar testified against her in court over the #NayaDaur fallout. Her autocratic dad Ataullah khan’s ego was hurt. Madhubala and Dilip Kumar would talk on the phone and every conversation would end in tears. She wanted him to come home and say apologise to her father. The self respecting Dilip Kumar would have none of it. And the biggest romance in the movies came to an end. On the rebound, she married Kishore kumar.
The day she died, Dilip Kumar cancelled shooting in chennai and reached after her body had been laid to rest. As per custom, the food for the next three days to Madhubala’s house came from Saira Bano’s.
Madhubala’s father would weep at her grave every single day perhaps regretting all his decisions. His third heart attack proved fatal and he passed away in 1975.

It's difficult to accurately put into words how much this woman meant to me & my family. Barbara Ruth McLaws, my grandmother, went home to be with the lord two nights ago, April 26th. I, along with my family were lucky enough to be by her side as she joined hands with my grandfather again. .
.
If you have spent anytime with me I'm sure you've heard tales & stories about my grandma and the beautiful life she lived. She is one of my favorite people to grace the earth, and the memories & moments I shared with her will live on forever in my stories & memories. From looking at the colors (sunsets), to promising her I wouldn't take her on the ramps while on the four wheeler & then dying laughing while she's slapping my back as we are mid air over a jump, to traveling from California to Florida across the USA with her, to dancing backstage at Larry Joe Taylor until 2 in the morning, our Friday dates while I was in college where she took me to lunch & shopping, her doctoring me back to health after surgery, making he trip from Az to Texas to make sure she was at my husbands first Billy Bobs concert, cooking fiascos, smack talking during dominos, memories to being in the hospital with me for 10 days when my babies were born, to being the one who understood what I was going through when mike died, to just good long talks while sitting outside on the porch swing, & countless drives in the woods filled with picnics. Life lessons to never leave the house without makeup & your hair done because you never know what life will present you, that putting good turquoise jewelry on layaway & working hard to pay it off will be more rewarding & something to keep for life, that God has a sense of humor, to always honor God & your husband. She is the one who gives me strength in my faith, & has showed me what a strong, loving wife, mother, & grandmother should be. It's hard to imagine my life here on earth without her, but I have no doubt she will be looking over me & my family until we all join her in heaven one day. Grandma I love you so dearly and will miss you everyday until I see you again.

Today I woke up angry but went to bed having made a new friend. I woke up angry, don’t know why, trivial stuff, I went to the gym and felt better afterwards. I had about 5mins left on my parking and I met an old lady. We were both rolling our eyes at a car reversing carelessly in the market and she said” people aren’t the same these days, life is cold” within minutes, she was telling me her life story. She had 7 siblings, and their house was one of the first houses to get bombed during the war, they woke up the next day to find their mother had taken her own life. She was separated from her siblings and went to live with a family in Wales who were beyond cruel. She later married, had 4 children, but her husband got posted abroad and she never saw him again, he died in Germany, never making it back home. She told me she hardly ever sees her children or grandchildren and that I would probably be the only person she would speak to today. She was still smiling. I was in tears. She took my hand and kissed me on the cheek, I squeezed her hand and said “ I walk past this market the same time every week, come back, and next time, let’s go for a cuppa”

I'm too excited to not share my beautiful sculpture from the incredible Jimmy Rix, who delivered our new family today. After the house burnt down, Sayo and I spoke even more, about what is important in life. Most of our contents may be in ashes now, but we and the animals survived the blaze. Instead of buying stupid stuff to replace what we didn't need anyway, I wanted something special instead - a symbol to me of what IS important in life... Here stands the mother, looking down at their home (and thank you for the added light in the house Jimmy). She yearns for a peaceful life, yet she must train her joeys to protect their life from the evil of man. The young one in the pouch is still leaning and uses a slingshot, whilst the at foot joey has progressed to guns - he needs to be strong to protect their world and his family.
We have called it "POWER TO THE PEACEFUL"... may they always protect the innocent. Thank you Jimmy, for putting so much love into this very special piece that you created. And thank you for allowing us to discuss many ideas until we got this 'just right'. I couldn't be happier.

Brother & Sister

Marie is a rescue from the US. She was abused and neglected by two homes before reaching me. When she first came, she lived out of my bathroom for the first week because she was so scared and confused. Now she's living the life. She gets picked up every morning and goes to the chalet to play at the beach with her other doggie friends. Her personality has changed completely. She is now whole. 💟

Thunder is a recent rescue. I was in front of Starbucks when this little kitten starts rubbing against my leg asking for attention. After I grab my coffee, he follows me to my car and the rest is history. He's still getting medical treatment and will be up for adoption after he's all good. But for right now, he's getting all the attention in this house. I can't believe I found you off the street. I wonder how many other cats like Thunder are out there right now needing homes. I 💟 Thunder.

Please volunteer to foster or adopt an animal in need. There are so many here for free! Just provide a safe living home and watch them transform. In the end, you'll feel like they rescued you.
You can contact @kareq8 @adopt_a_street_princess @paws_kuwait. Make a difference and get these poor animals off the street.

"We are planning to evacuate because the fire is getting close .... what would you like us to take with us from your room?" How in the world do you answer that!?!? I told her to Facetime me so she could walk around my childhood room, panning the room for anything that was still valuable to me.... You know what's surreal about that moment????.... you come to this realization that, except for the 2 things I asked her to grab (a string of pearls my uncle gave to my aunt before he died (which she then gifted to me for my wedding day), and a random 1889 penny that I found as a kid and saved FOREVER with the childhood thought that one day it would be worth millions) .... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING else mattered! ... I said... leave it all! ... just GET out and GET somewhere safe!
My parents had already started to pack up the family photos so that was the only other thing I cared about other than MY PARENTS and their dog.
How in the world do we collect sooooo much stuff throughout the years and have rooms FULL of THINGS and then when push comes to shove, you don't give a CRAP about any of it!!! I even remember Christmas morning when my dad told my mom he had bought her the house of her dreams and she stared a the photo in shock and disbelief, that we'd be moving into a house that we had only ever dreamed about as a family! The best gift ever!.... Even then... even with your family's dream house in threat of going up in flames... you still think only about your PEOPLE, the pets, and your memories!!! (the only things worth SAVING!) What a wake up call that was!!! Collect moments, NOT THINGS! ... it's the people and pets in your life that matter the very very most and LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE! .... 🙏🙏🙏 praying for the people, friends, and family who are going through this insane loss right now at home in Redding. And my team and my tribe who all live there. Anyone who needs help (housing, anything) just message me! ❤️ love you all!

An emergency response on Saturday, July 21, 2018 requiring red lights and sirens for a one year-old baby chocking led Carson Station deputies to a late evening shift they will never forget.

Within approximately one minute, training officer Melvin Castro and his trainee, Deputy Omar Sanchez, turned onto the 2100 block of Grace Avenue in Carson. There, in the middle of the street, a male adult frantically jumped and wailed his arms in the sky in a desperate attempt to get their attention.
Deputies Castro and Sanchez sped to the frantic man, quickly parking the patrol car, and followed behind the father who was desperately guiding them to his dying baby girl.
At the rear of the house, deputies Castro and Sanchez were met by a hysterical mother who ran towards them, clutching her one year-old baby in her arms. She pushed the lifeless and limp body of Baby Faith onto Deputy Castro’s chest in what seemed to be her last hope of bringing her baby back to life. “She wasn’t breathing. Her eyes were wide open. There was no life in the kid. She just lay lifeless, limp.” Those were the words of Deputy Castro, a 37 year-old father of two and 11 year veteran of the LA County Sheriff’s Department. “This isn’t good,” he thought. “I checked her pulse. Checked to see if she was breathing. She was not.” Deputy Castro immediately took lifesaving action by administering CPR. Baby Faith remained unresponsive, cradled in Deputy Castro’s arm as he continued trying to revive her. “I felt like we had been there too long…and every second counts,” said Deputy Castro. “So I decided to transport her.” Deputy Sanchez, who was on his fourth month of patrol training, had yet to drive a patrol vehicle in an emergency. However today, a life and death situation thrust him in the spotlight of navigating to the nearest hospital in the quickest and safest way possible. “When the mom handed Deputy Castro the baby, my T.O. [training officer] said we were going to the hospital, I grabbed the keys. I was nervous but I had to do it. I said to myself we better get there quick.” Deputies Castro and Sanchez jumped into the patrol car. As Deputy Castro entered the front passenger seat, s

Ain't white port but..... He's a wino, tried and true.  Done about everything there is to do.  He worked on freighters, he worked in bars.  He worked on farms, 'n he worked on cars. He's a wino, tried and true.
Done about everything there is to do.
He worked on freighters, he worked in bars.
He worked on farms, 'n he worked on cars.

It was white port, that put that look in his eye
That grown men get when they need to cry
And he sat down on the curb to rest
And his head just fell down on his chest

He said "Every single day it gets
A little bit harder to handle and yet"
And he lost the thread and his mind got cluttered
And the words just rolled off down in the gutter

Well he was elevator man in a cheap hotel
In exchange for the rent on a one room cell
He's old in years beyond his time
Thanks to the world, and the white Port wine

So he says "Son, " he always called me son
He said, "Life for you has just begun"
And he told me a story that I heard before
How he fell in love with a Dallas whore

Well he could cut through the years to the very night
When it ended, in a whore house fight
And she turned his last proposal down
In favor of being a girl about town

Now it's been seventeen years right in line
And he ain't been straight none of the time
Too many days of fightin' the weather
And too many nights of not being together

So he died

Well when they went through his personal affects
In among the stubs from the welfare checks
Was a crumblin' picture of a girl in a door
An address in Dallas, and nothin' more

The welfare people provided the priest
A couple from the mission down the street
Sang Amazing Grace, and no one cried 'Cept some woman in black, way off to the side

We all left and she was standing there
Black veil covering her silver hair
And 'ol One-Eyed John said her name was Alice
And she used to be a whore in Dallas

Let him roar, Lord let him roll
Bet he's gone to Dallas Rest his soul
Lord, let him roll, Lord let him roar
He always said that heaven
Was just a Dallas whore.

This weekend we will be traveling a seven and a half hour drive to Matt's hometown to celebrate his life.

Renee and Matt met 4 years ago on a warm summer night in Nashville. She was wearing a new red dress, and she caught the eye of a young soldier. It took her a couple more weeks to warm up to him, but he persisted, and she did. Matt was the only man she saw.

They built a life together in Nashville. They bought a house, had a dog named Charlie, and were ready for the next step when Matt got back from his last deployment. Two weeks into his deployment on November 4th 2016, Matthew Lewellen, a highly decorated member of the Army Special Forces, was shot and killed in Jordan. He was 27.

Matt was known for his sense of humor. He was a goofball. But when it came to work, he was focused, and extremely intelligent. People looked up to him. Most of all, he was just a guy who loved his Renee and Charlie. Renee loved him back with her whole heart. What she loved about him most was that he was "always present." She lost him too soon.

Y/n sweeps her floor, then do the dishes. She watches her tv shows, and tends the plant that’s there only because Beth wants it. She’s lonely most of the time, but she has learn how to live like this. The Quagmires are good friends of hers, but they also have their own lives. Her friends from the labs are busy starting their families and doing things that she has no choice but to skip after deciding to take Beth in. The painful midnight thoughts often come to her when Beth is asleep and she’s soothing his hair next to him on his bed. He’s not what she wanted. And truth is, she knows she’ll give it all away if she can somehow rewind time and saves her best friend from death’s grip. She doesn’t know the kind of life she wished she had, she was far too young when she took the road she couldn’t walk away from. She’s imperfect, but she tries. She’s hard on herself but she knows she has to toughen up. No one is going to be there to help her raise Beth. Her sigh sounds so loud in the quiet house as she slowly lift the pan from the water and drains the macaroni she’s cooking. Her phone rings and she picks it up without looking, putting it between her cheek and shoulder while her two hands start to get busy with shredded cheese. “Hello?” She hums. “Hey, it’s me.” She can’t help but smile at the voice. “Hi Niall. Did you miss me already?” She jokes. “Maybe. Did you get home safely? I never heard from you again after you left.” He says. “Sorry, I didn’t know you suddenly become my dad.” She chuckles and she can feel him rolls his eyes. “Have you had dinner yet?” He asks. “No, I’m actually making dinner right now. I’m having bacon mac&cheese-“ “That sounds fattening-“ “Yeah well who does this single mum has to impress.” She chuckles. After a few moments of silent, y/n clears her throat. “Have you had dinner?” She asks. “No.” Y/n stays quiet for a few moment debating to invite him over or not, and Niall’s on the other line praying that she would. “Do you wanna come ov-“ “Yes! Yes I do. I’ll be there in like 5 minutes.” Y/n giggles at his enthusiasm, before hating herself for making that horrid noise. “See you then.” “In 5”

I call, no need to come running, he’s stable, stay home. Days pass: ventilator, can’t be conscious, medically induced coma, he’s stable, stay home. Call comes: maybe you should come, not next week, how soon can you get here? Flight booked: next morning, so early, packed a dress for brunch, for sure we’ll go to the place with the grits. Arrival: she looks tired, she looks worried, I’ve never seen her look tired or worried. See him: his chest jumped when I entered the room, it’s like a movie and he’s supposed to wake up like my mere presence fixed it all, but this is not a movie, his chest jumped from the machine shoving air into his lungs because they aren’t doing it themselves, movies are never real, movies only set us up for the fall of real life. Back at their house: photos of him everywhere, he lived life, he lived lives, I’m like him, good and bad, he’s the tree I grew on and fell off of. Wednesday: they’re transferring him to a revolving bed to try and clear his lungs, fluid is blood fluid is a mystery, we head that way for a visit, first time I’ve driven a stick in years and only killed it once. Calls come: he’s not stable, we’re close so close so fucking close, second call is final call, we’re across the street, drop her off, valet his car, go upstairs, doctor’s talking to her in the hallway, heart keeps stopping and not starting, maybe that’s not her maybe it’s another slender brunette being told things I don’t think could be about him because why the fuck wouldn’t his heart beat he’s the strongest man in the world he beats up purse thieves in airports and drove in a demolition derby and kept loving me which takes a lot of strength and he rides his bike like 20 miles a day. Sitting on the floor: holding his hand, it’s been 3 hours, you can’t take him he’s my dad and I still need him, this hand is cold and he’s not in there anymore but I can’t let you take him. Drive home: don’t kill the engine once he’d be so proud, motherfucking rainbow shows itself at the top of the highway exit like mockery or salvation or redemption. After: blurry blends into blurry and slides into the hole that I guess never goes away. Today: 2 years.

I enjoy those finding their love, who had first found themselves. I say a "Thank You Jesus" for the first homeowners or second and third house getters. I praise God for those who came from debt and are now encouraging others. I congratulate you when you've done what you wanted to do. I understand that to BE BLESSED, you must be happy for those WHO ARE BLESSED. And to be encouraged, you must focus your attention on those who are an encouragement, and not those who are a distraction. So "No... I didn't hear what he said or she said about me, because I'm TOO CLOSE to having my blessing. So that means I'm REAL FAR from those who don't like it". Alison Rosen, host of the immensely popular podcast “Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend,” is ready to conquer the world of books in this collection of hilarious and unpredictable columns.
.
Alison wants to be living a fabulous life filled with myriad social engagements. She just also wants to not shower, put on a bra or leave the house. Plus, she dislikes dancing, the Fourth of July and costume parties that involve skimpy attire. Basically, if it’s fun, count her out, which is too bad, since she so desperately wants you to think she’s fun.

Tropical Attire Encouraged came to be on her birthday a few years ago, when her husband, Daniel Quantz, presented her with a hand-bound book of her columns from the first year she was syndicated. He worked late at his office to keep it a surprise. At the top of each one, he included a hand-drawn illustration. Daniel told her he made it because he wanted her to know he believed in her and felt she should be published in book form. Also because one year she gave him an over-the-cabinet-door organizer, and he wanted her to really know—like, on a visceral level—just how crappy her gift was in comparison. (He didn’t say this, but it was implied.)

I don't generally get emotional or tell long-winded stories about my life, so I'm gonna try and keep this as short & sweet as possible. This woman is my grandma, Deborah. She raised me from birth and did everything for me, absolutely everything since day one. She fed me, clothed me, cared for me, loved me, took care of the little girl her daughter couldn't. Throughout her life she has been through so much. Her first 2 marriages put her through brutal physical and emotional abuse both times. She made it through and married a third time. After 38 years with her third husband, he left her. He pays her no alimony and never calls, despite the fact that she is now disabled and unable to work. She suffers from multiple diseases - celiac, diabetes, the list could go on a while. She even battled with cancer for a time. Her knees barely work, so she can't walk well. Yet she does every day. She cooks and cleans and does what she can around the house because she wants to. This past week, we found out she had a heart attack in March and nobody even knew it because the hospital discharged her and basically didn't help her at all. It was a minor heart attack, but still a major scare. She now endures the side effects of a heart attack untreated (dizziness, nearly passing out, heart palpitations, etc). Through all of these things she is able not just to keep a smile on her face, but to put smiles on the faces of others as well. She would give her last dime if she had to and wouldn't think twice about it if she thought that someone else needed it that much more than her. She was just awarded her disability after an 8 month struggle, and I'd like to give her this as well. With all of her health problems at 59, it's scary to think she might not have 10 more years. The charity most important to her and us is A Child's Place (achildsplace.org). They provide an education to the homeless children of Charlotte, North Carolina, and that's desperately important. No kid should have to fall by the wayside, homeless or otherwise. Whether you choose her or not, she's my personal champion. She's the champion of everyone who knows her. She's amazing, incredible, kind, & loving. #fobchampion

As Valka was settling in to her house she couldn’t help but cry. “It looks different, but it’s the same old house I lived in twenty years ago.” Said Valka. She walked into Stoick’s room and started to cry. She held on of his pillows close. “I love you so much Stoick.” Said Valka. Valka was very happy to be back at Berk, but she had a huge shock from it all after being gone for so long. She then walked into Hiccup’s room. She looked at his drawings and saw his designs for Toothless’ tail. “My boy is builder!” Said Valka. She again looked sad that she missed another important part of Hiccup’s life. She had no idea Hiccup could make wonderful things. She continued to look around and soon encountered the toy dragon she made for Hiccup when he was born. She immediately started to cry her eyes out. “Mom do you have a minute? These two dragons are-. Mom?” Said Hiccup. She looked at Hiccup and hugged him. He slowly hugged her back. “Everything ok?” Said Hiccup. “You kept this?” Said Valka. “Of course I did. It was all I had left of you. Well except my helmet my dad made me. After you were taken I started to have a fear of dragons and I threw it into the ocean, and soon I found it again. I kept it close. Always. I was just a baby when it all happened and I thought the toy was all I had left of you.” Said Hiccup. “I remember like it was just yesterday when I made you this. I remember when your father wanted to make you an axe, but I believed you would prefer something much better than an axe. For years I had no idea you still had it. Everyday I thought about it, but I always thought that you didn’t keep it, but you did.” Said Valka. “Of course.” Said Hiccup. “I’ll never forget the time you were born.” Said Valka. She started to have a flashback.

A Gentleman is a quirky action-comedy starring Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez and is written and directed by Raj & DK. It is set to release on August 25th, 2017.
In a sleepy suburb in the US, Gaurav (Sidharth) is on a mission to settle down. He already has a boring 9 to 5 job, and has just bought an oversized house and a minivan. Now, he is in the process of charming Kavya (Jaqueline) into marrying him.
Except Kavya is dreading the thought that he is going to pop the question, because she is in no hurry at all and wants more excitement in life. She so wishes that this sundar susheel gentleman gets a bit more risky. Gaurav on the other hand likes his daily routine and looks forward to cooking and tending to his new house during the weekends! For the rest of the world, it is the same shit, different day, but Gaurav loves it.
When an assignment takes Gaurav to Mumbai, shit hits the fan. A case of mistaken identity brings a bunch of dangerous operatives into his life. Soon, trouble follows him to Miami and literally threatens to blow up his dream life.

God said that He will confirm His word through signs and wonders... and He did!! 3 people got baptized, one was a 12year old and when she got out of the water she said “He touched me”. She literally felt her old life leave her and received her new one through the Holy Spirit. One woman that was completely deaf in her right ear and Jesus completely healed her tonight. The list goes on but what I loved most is that this all happened in someones house, small group of people just hungry for more of Jesus. When you preach the simple message of Jesus, He will confirm it with signs and wonders. “And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.” (Acts 5:42) #preach #live #love #healing #openears #pray #gospel #Jesus #lifestyle #picoftheday #likes #house #homecell

"Hey! You have just reached the voice box of Kalani Hilliker. Call me back soon. Byeeeee!" Maddie called for the tenth time and she still didn't answer. She was walking home from school scared of what would happen when she got there. She reached the side of the house and climbed the vines up to her window. Why is she doing this? To avoid waking her drunk father who is laying on the couch. When she gets through she slightly falls a little but silently. She grimaces in pain as she landed on her fresh bruise from this morning. How did she get that? Her alcoholic dad. Where is her mom to stop it? She was the cause of the beatings. She abandoned them when Maddie was 12. Later that night her dad went to the bar. He didn't come home that night. He went back home 3 days later. He took out all his pain on his poor daughter Maddie after alcohol consumes his mind. Even when he's sober. Which he never is. She always thinks about the day her dad came home drunk. Why did her mother leave them? They were such a happy and perfect loving family like you see in the movies. Her dad always tells her it was her fault. He calls her worthless, unwanted, fat, ugly. He's that abusive drunk man she calls her father. The only people who know about her dad are Kendall and Kalani. Everyone at school think she lives a perfect life. But they are wrong. She goes to partys, smokes, and drinks. Anything to release the pain. Sleeps around, wakes up in a strangers bed. If gets rid of her pain. So does something else. She cuts. She covers it up with concealer so no one can see. Like I said, only Kalani and Kendall know what is truly going on inside Maddies home. ||||| no ones gonna read his ever! Can someone read this just one person? I have almost 2k one @theofficialbrosacc and no one acknowledges me on here

'I got off the bus and I was on the phone with my boyfriend...I had a funny feeling - I looked behind me and saw a person in a niqab. I don't remember hearing footsteps or seeing anyone getting off the bus after me...No words were spoken. There was no dialogue. I looked back and remember the person just staring at me. The eyes were cold - it was a cold stare... Naomi was just five minutes from her house.

She said that at that moment she felt very uneasy and attempted to cross the road to distance herself from the stranger but as she turned her head again, she felt a splash... “That's when I thought, someone's out to kill me..then I thought, 'this person is not going to succeed'. I just started running straight home. I knew it was acid. It feels like something is eating away your skin. I felt it most on my scalp, more than on my face."
.
“After the attack I asked 'why me?' I'm a good person. I started to question so many things about my life. Am I a bad person? I don't argue, I don't like confrontation. Being an only child, I shy away from it. I like to keep to myself in my own little corner.'...The attack has had a huge impact on my life. I’ve found it difficult to get close to people since the attack, especially after being betrayed so terribly by someone I thought was a friend.
“I’ve got scarring on my face, neck and chest and there have been times when I’ve felt suicidal... I couldn’t bear to look in the mirror or leave the house. When I finally saw my face, I couldn’t stop crying. I thought, "Who’s going to want to marry me like this?" I felt so low, I didn’t want to live but the guy I was in a relationship with looked past those scars to the person I am inside...He said I was gorgeous.

Though things didn’t work out with us, we still remained friends, but I won't deny that the way he treated me really boosted my self-esteem. It made me realise the attack doesn’t have to be the end my life.' - Naomi Oni, acid attack survivor.
