So the first time in forever I’ve managed to incur a 5th metacarpal bone fracture to my jerking hand which will be keeping me out of the gym for 6-8 weeks. This really sucks as the injury wasn’t even gym related yet this is the first real time I’ve been told I can’t train for a while and it’s a shit feeling my bros 😞

I’ve always been a soldier and will never accept defeat and this is only a minor setback...I’ll be back stronger and juicier then ever when this shit heals I can tell you that. Funny how even though Injury my spirits are still high and I’m using this as motivation to come back even better! Legs day training 3x p/w is just what the doc ordered for me. Thanks to everyone’s messages YOUR support is what keeps me strong.

I could quite easily sit back & tell you I just want to finish & I will be happy ... it would be easy for me to tell you after the race what my real goal was ... but that’s not me ... yes putting it out there & telling 24,000 people what I’m working towards is a scary thought ... what if I don’t achieve ... well that’s life & the point of setting goals & stretching ourselves & putting ourselves under pressure and being accountable ...
when I first started training for Kangaroo Island Marathon in June this year the goal was purely to complete a marathon again ... my return from horrific injuries in 2016 are well documented & you well know the ups & downs I have experienced getting to the point I’m at right now
... setting this goal has not been easy ... firstly because this course has almost 700 meters of elevation ... it’s not your average marathon course ... it’s never going to be a super speedy time ... I thought long & hard about what would really make me feel as if I’ve moved on & done everything possible to get back to the best version of me ... this is what I came up with ... I have completed two full marathons since my accident ...
three months to the day post my bike accident I walk/jogged Gold Coast Marathon ... my orthopaedic surgeon (an iron man & marathoner himself) told me he had never met someone with my determination & definitely not known anyone to complete a marathon 3 months after such traumatic injuries ... i finished in 5:13:26
...
last year after rehabbing a ruptured hamstring (the worst injury, surgery & rehab I have ever experienced) I got back to being ready to run a marathon and then I was diagnosed with a stress fracture in femoral neck six weeks before I was due to run New York City Marathon ... I walked the marathon in 5:43:42
...
given all that I’ve decided my goal is to complete this marathon in under 5 hours ... that will make it my fastest post injury marathon on the toughest possible course ... that’s my challenge & I choose to accept it 🙌🏼

Some dates never leave us, but some dates have a power to change us, make us realise how precious moments are, how grateful we should be not only to be able to train but to appreciate even the littlest things - like walking...and to also never give up.

A freak accident had me become the luckiest I've ever been, millimeters away from damaging my spinal cord - the actualy possibility that stuck with me from the moment I was told.

We actually watched an interview a few months ago on people whom damaged their backs doing what they loved, but unfortunately weren't as lucky and ended up in a wheelchair. Those words to them "you broke your back" still brought me to tears... because fortunately I never was told what they were told next.

I've learnt so much from such an accident, both mentally and also in training...and I'm sure there are many out there just like me!

Not withstanding that, never give up, focus on how to be better and do better for you - noone else.
That's the greatest achievement.

Less than 2 years later I squatted more than my 1rm prior to injury for reps. I never thought it would happen - but I never said it wouldn't.
The only thing I've never done again is a snatch... but progress is they finally don't make me feel sick to watch people do them anymore 😉

For the second straight season, Michigan will be without one of their top WRs in Tarik Black, who is expected to miss significant time due to another foot injury (at least 6+ weeks, maybe more depending on the fracture itself). Here is what to look for after this news...
-
Former Five-star recruit, Donovan Peoples-Jones, arguably the best wideout on the team, will be targeted even more. After a slow start to his career last season (277 yards on 22 catches), DPJ is now expected to be the team’s top target. His athleticism and length haven’t gone anywhere, I fully expect him to step up.
-
Behind him is Nico Collins. This sophomore I expect to be an absolute stud while at Michigan. At 6’4” - 218lbs, the sophomore is closer to a TE in size added with great hands. This man is going to give DBs problems his entire career, and I can’t wait to see more of him this season. (SLEEPER RIGHT HERE).
-
After Nico, we take a look at our depth in the slot. Proven Sr. Grant Perry has EXTREMELY underrated hands and has shown how reliable his routes can be the last few years.
-
Finally, “the most consistent” wideout during camp has been RS Fr. Oliver Martin, great hands and great routes. Although a bit bigger than Perry, Martin will be WR2 at the slot and very reliable at that.
-
Nate Schoenle and Ronnie Bell should also see some snaps this season. Regardless of the situation, it is always “next man up”. Experience is absolutely crucial and it’ll be very beneficial for these young guns to get it this year. Although the loss of Tarik hurts, these boys will step up.
-
Final point: Harbaugh and company felt how much it hurt to lose Black for 10 games last season, I am positive he kept something like this in the back of his mind if it were to happen again, and adjust to it. I have so much faith in our guys, this won’t keep us down. LETS EAT. 〽️ #GoBlue

Q: Who takes your insta post pictures?
RER: My mom, lil brother, a friend, stranger… or I use a tripod.
Q: If you couldn’t run… what exercise would you do?

RER: Cry.
Q: Will you be a guest on my podcast?
RER: Yes! DM me.
Q: What do you do to train when you’re injured?

RER: It depends on the injury… sometimes you can't put weight on the injury at all, sometimes you can do non-impact cardio. Check with your doctor and get very specific on what you're cleared to do and when. I did non impact cardio when I was injured... Q: Have you ever had a stress fracture?

RER: I don’t think so?? Q: Do you carry some form of ID when you run?

RER: Fail! I used to but dropped the ball on this. I used to be so good about taking ID on a long run and I used to have a Road ID on my shoe laces… but I don’t now.
Q: Core work suggestions for people who hate core work! RER: Okay! I’ll get on this!

Take two and a half months off due to injury, after running in pain for the two straight months prior to that, and then run for less than three miles, without pain, and set the endorphins free!

I just completed my first run in 77 days, and my first pain free run in 133 days. It wasn't fast, it wasn't far, but the stress fracture in my femur that was acquired at or around the Barkley Marathons finally seems to be a thing of the past!
This is my first major running injury in over seven years, and I'm really happy with how I was able to realign my focus to embrace something different. Over the last two and a half months I turned my sights to biking and strength workouts, dedicating myself to not only not lose fitness, but to attempting to sustain and even gain fitness while injured. I feel like I've accomplished this via nearly 100 hours of riding and 15 hours of strength workouts. To be honest, it's been a fun journey and a nice test of body, mind and spirit.

Now to slowly start adding back in some running volume through August so that I can test out my fitness on a few running projects this fall, before the snow starts to fly again up in the alpine. It feels good to be back doing what I love most, while also having acquired a new appreciation and love of sitting in the saddle. I think I'll be a stronger, healthier athlete over the coming years thanks to this specific "setback". #OneStepBackTwoStepsForward

It’s less likely if you’re standing still but if you’re participating in a violent collusion sport then your chances are much higher. I played from 6yrs old to 29. It was some of the best moments of my life and lead me to meeting some of the greatest people in my life. That being said my body certainly paid the price. You’re body may be strong, but will crack when a 330 lb grown man runs through your knee with his helmet. I’m not tough and I’ve learned that pain is not fun. Anyone who’s ever experienced REAL pain will tell you that pain sucks and the do not have a high threshold for pain. That statements reserved for the ones who have manageable pain. The only way to prepare your body for the demand of sport or even life is to strengthen it as much as possible. 5 yrs ago I was told to back off of training and I needed a knee replacement. There are many athletes, soldiers, and accident victims who are dealing with much worse. However, I went through a difficult time and became depressed. I didn’t want to accept it. I decided to strengthen and modify lifts as opposed to giving them up. I spent months in the hospital and hundreds of hrs in rehab. Here are a list of a few injures/surgeries.
ACL, meniscus, metal removed from eye, carpal tunnel band cut, 2nd meniscus surgery, broken arm, broken wrist, broken ankle, hernia screen Lt side, hernia screen right side, dislocated shoulder, cracked knuckle, torn thumb socket, 17 staples in head, MRSA infection in knee, knee flush, knee screws, wore a PICC line for 6 months, Jones fracture, 3rd meniscus, L3-L4-L5 rupture. Im in pain every single day. Some days worse than others. I’m 41 yrs old and will tell you that training and movement are the only things that help me feel better. An injury does not mean the end. It means that a fix will require time, great effort, and consistency. I’ve rehabbed back every single time. Find a Dr, trainer, PT, TEAM you believe in and can help you along the journey. Don’t let an injury keep you from doing the things you love. #injuries #sugery #sports #doctor #trainer #rehab @anatomy @melanietillbrook

It's been more than 2 years now since I was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my right foot (which is a very common running injury), an L4-L5 spinal hernia (yup, that's also usual among t&f athletes) and a severe tibialis posterior tendonitis (I think by now you can guess... yes, running injury). And against all odds, despite horrendous amounts of doctor appointments, countless forms of physiotherapy, shitloads of medications and alternative recovery methods - I am still perfectly unable to run pain-free. Not even a few metres
.
.
So I came to the conclusion that it's about time to do what most - naturally skinny (in reality they don't have to do anything to have a lean body)
- ex-model (similar to the above category, for further reference google heroin chic)
- attention seeker with low self-esteem (this will be the topic of my sports psychology graduate thesis someday)
- well-off and bored (please, just stay away from them)
- chronically injured (fuck yeah I'm a gigantic cliché!) women do these days: become a wannabe IFBB pro super-duper hyped billion times world champion bikini model health advisor cyber smartass!
.
.
Basic package includes:
- overfiltered 'form check' mirror selfies at the gym (just like the above one) are absolutely necessary!
- endless flow of stupid and pointless health-related wisdom quotes (advanced level package includes that you can create your own empty bullshit) - showing off lean muscles (PS skills highly appreciated!)
- healthy meal pics 24/7 (doesn't matter if you actually eat them or not)
- pretending that going to the gym everyday is the only way to avoid eternal damnation
- almost mandatory breast implant
.
.
FYI I don't do weight training, I am here for #yoga classes for 2 months now (so basically I could be wearing flipflops but I fucking love shoes! #occupationalhazard), and the only quotes you will ever see me posting will be from Offspring songs.

I upped my training a bit last week (SHORT walk/run intervals) and the knee did not respond well👎. Aching and swelling!! I guess it’s one of those things - 2 steps forward > 1 step back. On the bright side ☀️☀️; both my feet are doing great 👍👍👍. Bone injuries are ‘kinda good’ if you have to have an injury — because with enough rest — they HEAL and it’s OVER. On the other hand✋>ligaments, tendons, strains, sprains, ‘pulled muscles’, past surgeries, or anything that ends in I-TIS can be rough!! While wearing the boot (for my foot stress fracture), I aggravated an old knee injury (ACL reconstruction - from my college basketball days). Today was an easy swim and some weights. I felt euphoric throughout the first several miles when the right music came on at the perfect times, really strong for the first 20 miles, then out of nowhere things went bad. After dropping from what I suspected might be a stress fracture, the symptoms of the injury have evolved and now I think it may be shin splints instead (another overuse injury). Dorsiflexion is now what causes the most pain. I have never had that before, but is much preferred over the former.

I should have listened to the wise advice of some of you (and what I really knew deep down was right) and either dropped the distance or sat this one out. As I slept in my car at the venue the night before, while not getting any quality sleep, in an already sleep-deprived state, I had very strong premonitions that I should back out, but alas I was there, so I charged ahead.
I hope it's only shin splints as I think I can easily work around that and recover quickly.

⚠️ Severe facial injury after a firecracker blew up in patient's face!

We present the case of a patient in whom the middle and lower thirds of the face were destroyed when a firecracker exploded in his oral cavity. Gunpowder tattooing caused by the explosion was present on the retropharyngeal space. He had an open fracture of the mandibular symphysis and inhalation burns of the upper airway were suspected. Tracheostomy was performed because inhalation burns of the upper airway could not be ruled out. After close observation, his cardiopulmonary function and vital signs were stable and he was prepared for reconstructive surgery. Swipe ⬅️ to see the final results.

I am one week post op so that is not boring at all! 🎉🏆🥇 Last week I had surgery to remove scar tissue that had formed around some of the muscles and tendons from my May tibia/fibula fracture. The scaring was the result of my tibia being displaced during the injury and damaging my tibialis posterior, FDL and FHL muscles. With the scaring I was unable to walk correctly and without pain no matter the treatment or method tried so surgical intervention was needed! Long story short I felt crippled for several months and not matter how hard I pushed or tried to work through the restrictions and pain there was no way I was ever going to be able to walk without pain. I’m feeling much better now and able to walk much more comfortably although there is a lot of work ahead. It feels good to make progress even if that means taking a step back at times! #onestepatatime #tibfib #progress #primetimegrindtime

The 2017/2018 season is over for me, and it will be nice to leave this season behind and start working towards the next one. Hopefully, it will look a lot like this sunrise. Pretty epic! 👊🏼 Anyways, my season actually ended about a month ago after a crash I had during the Europacup races in Sarntal. What first seemed to be just a bruise turned out, after about a week more of skiing, to be a fracture in my tibia just on the inside of the knee. So that meant no more skiing for me and back to the rehab routine. Luckily it’s just a minor injury, and if things goes according to plan I’ll be able to go skiing during our spring camps 👍🏼 #letsgo20182019

So my check up was awesome. No fractures to be seen anywhere. I'm told that I'm extrodinarily lucky as almost always there is a fracture to accompany a dislocation. I like to think I'm a high achiever from time to time. This is one of those times, lol
I'm out of the cast, into a supa dupa sling till Monday, then I'm allowed to begin flexing/extending, but no lifting anything heavier than a cup of tea,, righto!
This puts me out till May 1st for anything other than walking. Bummed but super happy that I'm a high achiever in my mtb injury mishap dislocation recovery thing 😉

On this collage you can see progress of my extension - upper left is Oct 17, lower left Nov 17, on the right - March 18. It may look I am still lacking something but it's my pose actually. I have maybe less than 5 degrees, so I might say I am back to normal. With other movements it is not so fortunate. As you can see the HO (bone growth) on another pic. Waiting for this to properly mature so that I could get rid of this bloody thing...but I am happy even with the current state so that I have even done some push-ups! Don't give up your physical therapy, stay focused and don't loose your mind 💪 I was having hard times through my recovery and I am not 100% back to normal but thanks god it's much better now. Wishing speedy recovery to all #elbow friends.

Fiberglass visited us for a month. Then, the ortho team decided to say it goodbye. Uncle Vishu is in great Joy, he is very eager to move on to the next stage. Unfortunately, this is the biggest mistake the team has made. This is a tibia/fibula open, distal comminuted fracture. The broken bones where left in place to re-grow with only 'antenna' support. They should have gotten a closer look at the lateral xray view, instead of only an AP view, prior to the decision. Probably give it more time to re-grow due to the mechanism of injury. They even advised for partial weight bearing after the cast is removed. That day, the cast was removed and it is replaced by a backslab for support, patient is happy. We were also relieved that his healing has sped up so quickly, never would we have thought that the bones are not ready yet. We brought uncle Vishu for physio the following day for partial weight bearing exercise. He followed the instructions and did well. He did complaint of some pain during/after the exercise, but we didn't put much thoughts into it, because the pain is bearable, so it is normal to feel pain during the exercise. To our horror his leg was misaligned the following day. It is crocket, red and swollen. Uncle Vishu doesn't want to return to the hospital that day due to some reason which I couldn't recall, so I checked his pulses and sensation. Thank God it is strong and positive. The next day, it was friday, we brought him to ED to get an xray. As usual, the queue takes forever. Following the xray report, we were summoned for an admission but we negotiated to be admitted the following day. Thank God they approved of it, we could even bypass the line and get admitted directly. This will never happen in my previous work place. We prayed for a good outcome this admission. -to be continue-

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin injured his right hand after hitting a member of the team's equipment staff during an argument, multiple sources told ESPN's Michael Eaves.

According to the sources, Griffin and the equipment staffer got into an argument in a restaurant during the team's trip to Toronto. Griffin hit the man, who then left the restaurant and went outside. Griffin followed him outside and hit him again.

Griffin suffered a suspected fracture in his hand in the incident, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne early Tuesday morning.

The equipment staffer's face was injured, sources told Eaves. Both Griffin and the equipment staffer were sent home after the incident. Griffin and teammate DeAndre Jordan are good friends with the staffer involved in the incident, according to sources.

Sources told ESPN that the hand injury is expected to keep Griffin out "a matter of weeks, as opposed to days."

What are your thoughts clipper fans ?!?!?

Since a few of you have been asking where all the hiking pics have gone, and some have seen some questionable Snaps...
.
.
As indicated in a few of my last couple posts, Nadia had been suffering from a shoulder injury since around June. What was originally thought to be a sprain, maybe a small fracture, turned out to be MUCH worse. After not getting better even after weeks of rest (and no hikes), she was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (an aggressive bone cancer) in her front left shoulder.
.
.
Her leg deteriorated to the point where she could barely use it (note how she's only pivoting off the leg in the video) without serious pain, and limited simple things like jumping on the couch. The difficult decision was then made to amputate what was becoming painful dead weight. Unfortunately even with amputation and chemo, the avg life expectancy is still only 12-14 months, (but that takes into account dogs significantly older than 5 yr old Nadia).
.
.
So now for the Good News: (1) The cancer was confirmed to be isolated to her shoulder and did not spread (which would have been automatic death sentence). (2) After only 10 days she was back on her feet walking faster than me, and jogging on day 16 (shhh don't tell the vet) (3) She's recovering so fast that she can start coming off meds 2 weeks early. And (4) Even though Nadia is the type of dog to raise the average life expectancy (bc she's so young and highly healthy/active) , the decision was made to start training a little Nadia just in case...
.
.
which why I'm now introducing Nadia Jr aka Arya to the Insta. More updates to come 😁🐶

A pelvic fracture is a break of the bony structure of the pelvis. This includes any break of the sacrum, hip bones (ischium, pubis, ilium), or tailbone.

This begins with efforts to stop bleeding and replace fluids. Bleeding control may be achieved by using a pelvic binder or bed-sheet to support the pelvis.

The Young-Burgess classification system is based on mechanism of injury: anteroposterior compression type I, II and III, lateral compression types I, II and III, and vertical shear,[5] or a combination of forces.

Lateral compression (LC) fractures involve transverse fractures of the pubic rami, either ipsilateral or contralateral to a posterior injury.

Grade I – Associated sacral compression on side of impact
Grade II – Associated posterior iliac ("crescent") fracture on side of impact
Grade III – Associated contralateral sacroiliac joint injury

__________
Arm wrestling gone terribly wrong!! ⚠️ Fracture of the humerus following an arm wrestle is a relatively rare occurrence. The shoulder joint is actively internally rotated against the opponent while the elbow is fixed in flexion, resulting in enormous violent torque forces across the humeral shaft.

This type of arm wrestling injury is the result of the defending arm wrestler taking or being forced to take a posture in which his centre of gravity and therefore his body weight shifts. As the offensive wrestler continues with the attack, the defender's internal rotator shoulder muscles suddenly and passively stretch and change from their maximally concentric contraction to an eccentric compensatory contraction, resulting in an intense rotational force with subsequent humeral fracture.

Take home message!

Arm wrestling is an enjoyable ego boosting sport, but it is not benign and should not be attempted on a competitively serious level by those who are not regularly trained arm wrestlers.

Nivens is our 3rd MAJOR medical bunny in a month and our funds are gone. This sweet boy was hopping off a box just a foot off the floor when he suffered an injury. At first it was thought to be soft tissue but instead of healing it turned worse and he started dragging his foot underneath him when he does move. A second round of x-rays taken of the entire leg shows a fracture near his shoulder. However something more serious appears to be going on with the long bone in his front arm. It is this compromise of the bone that resulted in the fracture.
This week he needs to go under sedation to have a needle aspiration of his bone taken. If that is not successful in getting an adequate sample he would need to have a bone biopsy performed. The biopsy could result in another fracture of the compromised bone. Yet a sample is needed so we can determine his course of treatment, which may result in an amputation of his leg. It's that severe of a case!

We don't have much time to raise the $1500 funds to cover just the testing and x-rays that have already been done. Time is urgent to get him care and determine why his leg bone is deteriorating when he's just 7 months old. Additional funding will also be needed once we know what treatment plan is recommended. We are fighting the calendar on this one.
Please consider a tax deductible contribution towards his care at PayPal.me/fureverhomerescue and put NIVENS in the notes so that it can be applied to his bill. Or call VCA Bloomington Animal Hospital at 952-884-3228 and make a donation directly to our account for Nivens.

- Francis of Assisi.

March is Brain Injury Awareness month so here are some wee facts about brain injuries to get you in the know;

A brain injury is any damage to the brain affecting a person physically, emotionally or behaviorally.

The major causes of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) include;
- motor vehicle accidents.
- falls.
- violence or gun shot wounds.

TBIs don't always include an open head wound, skull fracture or even loss of consciousness.
Non-Traumatic Brain Injuries include;
- stroke.
- tumors.
- brain infections or inflammation.
- other infections.
Level of severity used to describe brain injuries;
mild, moderate or severe.

Effects of a Brain Injury can include; - headaches
- difficulty balancing - blurred vision
- seizures
- changes in sleep patterns
- trouble speaking and swallowing - motor impairment - lack of bowel and bladder control - personality changes
- confusion
- trouble forming sentences - difficulty reasoning - memory impairment - depression - poor concentration - limited attention span
- forgetful
I suffered a moderate-severe Traumatic Brain Injury on the 22 October 2014 due to fainting and smacking my head. I ended up with 3 skull fractures, bleeds in the brain and damaged the bones in my left ear. As a result I had poor balance and memory, suffered from terrible headaches with light and noise sensitivity, extreme fatigue and conductive hearing loss in the left ear.
I spent 2 weeks in hospital initially before being referred to ABI Rehabilitation where my amazing team helped me to manage and learn how to look after my body to give it the best recovery time. I did a lot of physio to help with my balance and I no longer walk like a drunk person as well as a lot of fatigue management. However the best part was the support in which they gave me to return to study.
To this day I still struggle with the aftermath my injury left me with but it was gotten easier.
This is why brain injuries need awareness.

Georgia sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm recently suffered an injury to his non-throwing hand.
.
Now take a breath, DawgNation. Then relax.
.
A source confirmed with DawgNation that the event took place during a boating incident. The exact details of the event could not be specifically confirmed other than a tow rope got away while dragging another rider and Fromm put his hand up to shield himself from the rope.
.
Fromm’s injury was described to DawgNation as a fracture in his non-throwing hand, but it’s being treated like it’s a bone bruise. It will not require a hard cast. Fromm is expected to proceed business as usual for the Bulldogs and will still be doing all his voluntary 7-on-7 work with his teammates.
.
The injury was first reported by Ugasports.com.
.
There are three key details to note here.
.
- The injury was to his non-throwing hand.
- He is expected to only need a few weeks to heal.
- Fromm should be ready to go for the start of fall camp.
.
The injury definitely brings to mind Georgia’s simultaneous wealth and lack of depth at the quarterback spot.
.
Fromm led the Bulldogs to an SEC title and a 13-2 record in his true freshman season. The Bulldogs also signed 5-Star freshman Justin Fields in the class of 2018.
.
Fields rated as the nation’s No.1 dual-threat QB and as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect on the 247Sports composite ratings. He is expected to see time early and often in his true freshman season as well.
.
That’s a wealth of talent at the top of the depth chart for the Bulldogs, but any long-term injury to Fromm or Fields will leave the program with just one scholarship QB on the depth chart this fall.
.
Georgia opens the 2018 season against Austin Peay on Sept. 1.

This patient has an acute subdural hematoma, which occurs when traumatic shearing forces cause tearing of the bridging veins, leading to slow bleeding into the subdural space.
Patients with cerebral atrophy (eg, elderly, those with alcoholism) are at a higher risk of developing subdural hematoma as the bridging veins must traverse a longer distance, thereby becoming more susceptible to tears.
The use of anticoagulants (like warfarin) can also increase bleeding risk.
Elderly patients gain instability and recent hip fracture should raise suspicion for falls and traumatic head injury leading to an hematoma.
Symptoms usually develop gradually 1-2 days after the initial injury and include impaired consciousness, confusion, or symptoms of increased intracranial hypertension (headache, nausea/vomiting).
Diagnosis is made by a noncontrast head CT scan that shows a crescent-shaped hyperdensity that crosses suture lines (unlike epidural hematoma showing a smoothly margined biconvex density not crossing the suture lines).
Small hematomas are managed conservatively whereas larger ones like the one seen here causing neurologic deficits require urgent neurosurgical evacuation.

This patient fell off a porch landing at a somewhat 90 degree angle, sustaining a closed distal 1/3 radius and ulnar shaft fracture!!
The radius and ulna are bound together at the proximal and distal radioulnar joints and act as a ring. Like elsewhere in the body, it is difficult only to fracture one bone if there is a bony ring. If the radius or ulna is fractured, it is likely that either there is another fracture or one of the radioulnar joints has been damaged.
Fractures of the forearm can occur near the wrist at the farthest (distal) end of the bone, in the middle (shaft) of the forearm, or near the elbow at the top (proximal) end of the bone. Strong force is required to break both bone at the shaft. This is clearly the case here!
An x-ray of the forearm will determine the type of injury that has occurred. In most cases, there will either be a paired radial and ulnar fracture or an isolated radial fracture and dislocation of the distal or proximal radioulnar joint.
These fractures are often accompanied by a significant amount of displacement and require reduction.

A Muay Thai boxer has gone viral after images emerged of a brutal head injury sustained during a fight.

The incident took place when his opponent landed a big elbow during the bout at the Patong Stadium. As you can clearly see in the images, his head was fractured but remarkably he kept on fighting and never felt dizzy.

He wasn't wobbled and kept fighting, but the referee stopped the fight to get a doctor to look at the injury and the doctor stopped it right away.

Although little is known about the fighter, it has been confirmed that he is now out of hospital following the surgery to fix the fracture with a titanium plate.
Incredibly and thankfully, no brain injury was sustained. .

This elderly patient stepped awkwardly off of a 2 foot rock wall resulting in this compound dislocation. When she arrived at the Emergency Department she was fully awake and friendly and talkative. She was unable to move her toes at the time and pulses were faint in the foot. After X-rays were done the ER physician was able to manipulate the foot back into place. Surprisingly, aside from the graphic skin tear and bone protrusion, there were no other breaks and all major tendons, ligaments, veins/arteries were not compromised. Due to the bone being exposed to dirt and debris she was started on antibiotics and still visited the operating room for a washout, further inspection of injury and stabilization.
The treatment consisted of wound irrigation, debridement, reduction, and suture of the skin, followed by immobilization with a short leg cast. The ankle was immobilized in a neutral position for 8 weeks, and weight bearing was restricted for the first 6 weeks.
Open ankle dislocation without an associated fracture is an extremely rare injury due to the strength of the collateral ligaments and the capsular reinforcements of the mortise capsule.
They are often open because of the thin layer of tissue that lies over the malleoli.
During a traumatic event, forces are placed on the ankle that cause the bones to fracture or the ligaments to tear, resulting in the dislocation injury. The ankle is an inherently stable joint and the direction of the dislocation depends upon the position of the foot and where the force arises.
Most commonly, a dislocated ankle is associated with fractures of the distal ends of the tibia and fibula (called the malleolus) in association with damage to the ligaments that help support the ankle joint.

These could be prevented if balers were equipped with adequate safety equipment and if appropriate precautions and warnings were posted with operators given proper instruction regarding the use of the machines. Unfortunately, however, manufacturers continue to design defective machinery.
Degloving injuries are surgical conditions in which an extensive portion of skin and subcutaneous tissue is detached from the underlying fasciae, muscles, or bone surface. Frequently, the is an association of fracture underlying the degloved area.
Typical baler injuries that occur while operating hay balers involve having limbs pulled into the machine, being severely burned if it catches fire, or being scalped if hair gets caught.
This degolving injury happened while working in the farm, when the patients pants got caught up in a hay baler (a piece of farm machinery used to compress a cut and raked crop) and dragged his foot in, causing severe spiral degolving injury from multiple blades.
The rotating force of the driveline shaft pulled off the entire skin.
Luckily enough, there was no major vascular damage or any fracture, other than the intersection of 2 extensor tendons.
Treatment usually includes replantation or revascularization of the degloved skins, or when these are not possible, skin grafts or skin flaps.
His injuries required extensive skin grafting and tendons were surgically repaired.

@headway_uk has been a HUGE part of my recovery since suffering from a severe brain trauma and leaving hospital last year. I implore any and everyone of you to listen to this and understand just a tiny little bit about the reality and difficulties that exist for anyone who's been affected by a brain injury - including friends and families!!! Believe me if there's any way to learn who gives a toss and thinks if you look 'normal' that you must be fine and back to normal you now or even doesn't like who you are since an horrific accident, then fall down the stairs and fracture your skull really bad! That's always fun.

I've been a part of @headwayessex (don't give me any TOWIE shit yo 😂 these guys are actually angels) in Colchester and this is the Essex branch of the UK charity which helps build a new future with those who've had all types of brain injury. The brain is such a complicated organ and every incident/accident affects the individual so differently - even if you're a tiny bit curious, this is a fascinating listen! And would mean the world to me if you wanted to know a little bit more 🖤🖤🖤 (Also I popped a cheeky pic of Bert wearing my Speech Development Records sunnies because he's my favourite @speechdevrecs)

HUGE LOVE to @distractionpiecesnetwork @natalieclapshaw and
@scroobiuspipyo for talking openly and truthfully about many parts of a confusing, complicated and for me, lifelong new reality

These head and neck radiographs depict an atypical, accidental AK-47 rifle injury to the right side of the face and neck. The anteroposterior view on the left shows the bullet in the right side of the neck, as well as a comminuted fracture of the mandible (angle and ramus) and maxillary antrum.
The lateral radiograph on the right also reveals the bullet lodged in the neck, anterior to the bodies of the cervical vertebrae 6 and 7.
Gunshot wounds to the neck are highly likely to cause significant injury. Previously, injuries that violated the platysma muscle were though to require surgical neck exploration; however, because a large number of these neck explorations were ‘’negative’’, advanced imaging in stable patients prior to surgical exploration appears to be a reasonable approach.
Cervical spine immobilization is not typically recommended in penetrating neck trauma. However, high-force mechanisms, such as a gunshot wound, make cervical spine injury more likely. Therefore, clinicians should consider immobilizing the cervical spine.

A 30 years old patient was brought to Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department with a penetrating facial injury by a wooden log passing through the left lateral side of his below the angle of mandible and protruding through oral cavity causing comminuted fracture of mandible after a road traffic accident.
There was moderate bleeding and respiratory distress. On examination there was significant bleeding with no neurological deficit. Moderate trickling of blood from the entry site was noted. The blood pressure was 140/90 mmHg and the pulse rate was 110/min. The management of the patient was done by following the advanced trauma life support (ATLS), which begins with a rapid assessment of the airway, breathing, and circulation. Airway management in such a patient with penetrating injury to the neck was challenging. The patient was unable to lie in supine position due to long wooden log stuck behind the neck. There was high chance of aspiration of blood and saliva. The patient was planned for tracheostomy to secure airway. Therefore the wooden log was shortened out near close proximity to the left retromandibular region. General anesthesia was then administered through the tracheostome.

After adequate exposure the wooden log was removed in toto . Lingual and facial artery were identified and ligated with 2-0 silk. No other foreign body was seen. Hemostasis was achieved and the area cleaned with betadine saline wash. There were no injury to great vessels and nerves of neck. Reduction and fixation of fracture mandible was done by stainless steel mini pates and screws. Wound was then closed in layers after securing the suction drain.

Post operative evaluation showed no injury to facial and lingual nerve. The patient had an uneventful postoperative period and was discharged on the 10th day with tracheostomy tube removed. He was followed up regularly. Review after 1 month showed no functional or major aesthetic problems.

Clinical diagnosis is based on meticulous examination of the eye, including patient vision and palpation of the orbital aperture.
Prior to CT imaging, 2-D x-rays were considered sufficient for pre- and postoperative diagnostics in orbital fractures. One of the great weaknesses of 2-D imaging is that in many cases a fracture is revealed, but not the degree of fracture displacement. Since the advent of CT imaging, the surgeon can better define fractures, as well the degree of fracture displacement and the necessity for fracture reduction.
The complexity of an orbital fracture is defined by the combination of its anterior-posterior and mediolateral extensions. This complexity is not visible on 2-D x-rays. Therefore, proper diagnosis and treatment should be based on voxel-based datasets (CT, cone beam).
A common feature of an orbital wall fracture is intra-/periorbital air which appears clinically as emphysema (independent of whether the injury was penetrating or nonpenetrating).
The most widely available technology is CT scanning which has the advantage of combined hard- and soft-tissue visualization. Cone beam technology is becoming increasingly popular although only hard tissues can be reliably assessed. MRI is limited to soft-tissue visualization with only indirect information on hard tissues, and is not part of the standard work-up of orbital fractures.
In some cases, radiographic assessment alone is insufficient to determine the extent, morphology, and quality of the fracture. In some complex cases a complete understanding of the fracture morphology is obtained only after surgical exposure.

Orbital floor fractures can present as blow-out fractures or in combination with a zygoma or Le Fort fractures. A blow-out fracture (pure) is a fracture of internal orbital walls without fractures of orbital rims.
When we refer to an orbital floor fracture in this text, a blow-out fracture is meant.

Left: Sagittal slices (hard-tissue window) of the same patient.

Management of a clavicular fracture can be conservative (e.g. sling immobilisation) or operative (e.g. open reduction and internal fixation, ORIF).

The #trapqueen is back 👋 #olympiclifting is implimented into my programming again and back to doing #crossfit #couldntfindclips😝

I didn't share with the world what happened but I had a severe wrist injury almost 6 months ago. I had a grade-two sprain and a compaction fracture. As a competitive #athlete, I became extremely discouraged because I wasn't sure how this would affect my lifting in the future so I laid low and rehabbed my injury very well. At one point I thought I would have to have surgery because I lost movement and control of my fingers in my left hand. But when you take care of an injury and rehab it properly and let it rest and HEAL, the outcome will be positive. I also prayed, my family did too, for complete restoration in my wrist. And I am happy to say, I have no pain whatsoever anymore !!! And this is only 6 months post injury! In fact, I strongly feel that the time I took off from training was actually a blessing in disguise because I am stronger and more refreshed than I've ever been! #bikinibeast #lowkeygrinding
My lifts today felt aggressive and sharp too. Always a nice feeling...

So interestingly I put this question up and although over 300 viewed it and I’d say over 50% of my instagram fam are boxers, coaches or people who box for fun! No one had a response? Now in the QA stage of the GJWB gloves for women designed by women....I’ve spent the past year learning as much as I can about gloves, what the are made of, what’s important about the fit, design and materials. Even though I have been boxing for 20 years I had to really look for the information and most people don’t really know what they are looking for in a glove? (I didn’t for years!) Or maybe no one cares! 🤣 BUT you should care as your glove can keep you from injury, bloody or broken knuckles and the dreaded boxers fracture! I also think your glove is an extension of your personality and when you put them on you transform into that alter ego of yours where you are as bad as you want to be...no limitations! SO... I’ll ask in a different way and please answer in the comments below... what do you like or dislike about any pair of gloves you have had!? Colour? Size? Fit? How long did they last? Etc. GO! 👊🏼🙏🏼💜 .

Back in 2016, in Zurich, I was told that I had a fracture in my lumber spine and that my injury wouldn’t heal and therefore I had to stop dancing, immediately. With just recently having to move from Stockholm to pursue my goals and become a professional dancer, I really wasn’t ready to let go. I simply couldn’t explain it more than that I just HAD to dance. To stop dancing was not an option. After a year of ups and downs and a billion flights & travels later, I managed to recover: my spine was healed and I couldn’t possibly be any happier.
After moving around to too many different places in only a year, I finally settled in Stockholm and started at my old ballet school. I’ve just recently come home from spending 5 amazing weeks in New York. I’ve been dancing for 8 years. It’s been a good 8 years but with ballet comes a lot of suffering. I am simply tired of ALWAYS being in pain, ALWAYS having to strive for perfection but never ever get there. I want to get an actual education which will ensure my future, guarantee that I’ll get a job. I want to TRAVEL, I want to explore the world and I don’t feel like becoming a professional dancer would give me any of that. I no longer want my life to depend on ballet.
Ballet is THE most beautiful art form and never have I ever loved doing anything as much as I love(d) to dance. And I still do. Just not as much. It’s come to the point(e) where I can see myself doing SO many other things. Although I am crying while writing this, I know that it’s the right decision. And the most important, it’s MY decision- not any doctors, not my parents nor dance teachers. As weird as it may sound, I’ve been traveling & moving around too much. I won’t be able to settle down as dance will require me to. ‘Because here’s the truth; mental time travel and country hopping is an addiction.’ ((👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼more))

The end of July was the 12 week marker after I fell downhill and injured my left knee with a patella bone bruise fracture. Two doctors told me it would take 4-12 months to heal. Time is the only option for healing a bone bruise. No surgery or brace will help. One doctor told me my bone was continuously bleeding for the first month of injury. An open wound, inside my bone, under my flesh. I couldn’t feel the lower half of my leg in space, I had no proprioception, my leg was numb, knocked out, asleep. I couldn’t walk, stand, sit, work, skate, dance, kneel, bend my leg, straighten my leg, walk up or down stairs, lay on my stomach, wear jeans, or have pressure on my knee, even the weight of a blanket was excruciating. All I could do was swim and lay with a king size pillow under my leg. At this point last year I remember the sinking feeling I had looking at my leg and noticing my muscle atrophying. Something like going to the grocery store and doing laundry were all day events. These were huge accomplishment for me. My life revolved around physical therapy, laundry, cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping. Those chores took up my whole week and drained all my energy. I tried to hide the amount of pain I was in because I wanted to be normal. Besides when you looked at my leg it’s not like you saw a huge scar, so how could something under my skin hurt so much and be so debilitating? I truly had no idea when I would feel strong again. I went to physical therapy 2-3 times a week for 6 months. It took 8 months for me to be able to walk up the stairs again and 10 months to walk down them. Slowing down and focusing on every tiny movement has only made me stronger in a more controlled way. I often wonder where I’d be if I never experienced this. A humbling situation I had to fight and stay healthy through. Having no choice but to sit and think about your life really allows you to focus on what’s important. Being broken shows you who really wants to help lift you up. My strength is back. I’m proud of how far I’ve overcome this debilitating injury. I will preserve with grace through every battle I face.

I have never been as well prepared for the @CrossfitGames as I was this year but early on in the competition something happened and my ribs got really sore and bruised. I was in a bit of denial and decided to tough it out. In the "Marathon row" the pain went a way as soon as had hit 10 km, so I thought this couldn´t be that bad. Afterwards the pain got so much worse of course. I started Friday, still in denial, and after the "Clean and jerk ladder" pain killers had become my best friend. I decided to keep on pushing today regardless of all the alarm bells but once I started warming up for events 9 and 10 the pain had become so bad that I could not bend over to do a snatch or complete a muscle up on the bar.
_
It is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life but I have decided to withdraw from the competition due to a stress fracture injury on my rib.
_
This desicion is made after a consultation with my coach and doctors. There was only one decision to be made, and as much as I hate the fact that I am not going to finish this competition I know that this is the only right way to proceed.
_
I will give a better and more detailed explanation on all of this when I know more but one thing is for sure. I´ll be back!!!
_
Love, Sara ❤️

Exactly one week ago today, I suffered a burst fracture to my C5 vertebrae. I'm so lucky to be feeling and moving, let alone breathing and living. Thankfully, I am able to walk out (literally) of this accident with only a neck brace and rehab.
Statistically, 80-90% of patients with this type of spinal injury become paralyzed, quadriplegic, or even die. Every nurse, doctor, and surgeon I've met during my stay have all said the same thing "You're so lucky". It never sunk in until I finally saw my MRI and x-rays showing how close I came to death and how close I was to changing my life forever.
Upper Left: MRI of my broken neck
Upper Right: Night of the accident
Bottom Right: Titanium plate and 4 screws
Bottoms Left: Today
I dove into the shallow end of the pool, and I hit my head at the bottom. I remained conscious during my entire experience but was paralyzed for only a few minutes. I was pulled out and saved by my four cousins. About ten minutes later, I started to gain the sensations back again in my four extremities. Soon I was able to stand up and walk (which I shouldn't have done because I could've caused some serious damage to my spinal chord). I was taken to the Memorial Hospital West and then rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital as a trauma alert after a CT scan of my neck was taken.
5 days post-op, I'm able to stand and walk on my own, eat and swallow correctly, and in rehab for 5 hours each day. I now have a 2 inch titanium plate from my C4 to my C6 vertebrae, which is held together by 4 screws. I have to wear my neck brace for at least 4 months and have to continue my rehab and healing for about a year.
I need to say a big thank you to the four cousins who saved my life, provided the immediate treatment, and brought me to the hospital (@kimmiebrandon @andrewbbrandon @shanavkhan @abaswilderness). In addition, I have to say another thank you to my second mom @helenmejia who kept my mom calm and collected during this hellish week. Last but not least, thank you to my family, friends, and everyone for their love and support during this scary experience. #luckytobealive #brokenneck #c5fracture

Getting my alpine singletrack fix.
We were supposed to be heading to Colorado for Hardrock this weekend, and to link up with Jared Campbell on a mountain project, but injury derailed that so Linda and I hit the drawing board for reasonable alternatives as she already had her vacation approved months ago.
I knew once diagnosed with the femur stress fracture (safe to say it was a fracture as the stress reaction MRI result was almost two months after I'd stopped running on it entirely) that it'd be a summer on two wheels, and with that came a longing for the alpine terrain you can usually only access on foot. Enter the South Chilcotins mountain range. I've been eyeing this zone for about 7-8 years, but something else always took top billing in our adventure travel plans. Well, I can say that without a doubt, this place does not disappoint. All the hype is for good reason. Today was awesome 😊

I'm excited for a big link up tomorrow, with my new best friend Stu Wyllie, who I just met yesterday. "Hey aren't you that runner guy?"
"Why don't I answer that for you over a 35km mountain bike ride together?" 😆

I've had my fair share of pivotal moments in my life (ie,. My wedding day, the day my kids were born, and the day I got hired by the fire department). However life has a funny way of kicking you right in the ⚽️⚾️🏀🏐 sometimes. Such as this pivotal moment, while in the Fire Acadmey during our high angle rescue training, I fell from the 4th floor of the drill tower (fortunately while tethered). I fell nearly 15 ft before the main and belay lines violently and abruptly stopped my descent, slamming me into the wall. Ultimately herniating 3 discs (from L3-S1) crushing my peroneal nerve causing complete loss of function of my Left leg below the knee and causing a hairline fracture in my L4 vertebra. I was only a few weeks away from graduating the academy and was adamant that I was going to finish...until the Dr gave me the news. 10 years ago today, I underwent emergency back surgery to repair the damage with the hope that I will one day regain function in my leg again. I didn't know it then, but a visit to a nerve specialist and 3 more back surgeries would prove how significant my injury really was.
I don't tell that story for sympathy or condolences, but for the simple fact that after 16 months of rehab and now 10 years later I'm working in the career I always wanted to be in. It wasn't the easiest path, and I may not be pain free, but sometimes the struggles are worth the reward. #brokeback #backproblems #rehab #leadwake #shapingwakessince2008 #firefighter #proud #firelife #drilltower #brokebackmailman #workhardplayhard #insta

In 2015 I was diagnosed with a sacral stress fracture, my very first (and hopefully last) stress fracture. I also had anemia, achilles tendinitis, and a host of other issues that did not allow me to train like I wanted to reach the level of competition that I was at before I had my second child. The injuries were a huge wake up for me; I realized that I wasn’t eating enough to fuel my activity. My body needed more nutrition to keep up with the demands of being a mother of two, working 50 hours a week, and trying to run 80 miles a week. I decided that I was never going to restrict me food intake again. Maybe I’d be slower, but I’d be healthier, happier, and generally a nicer person. I get race photos (like the one above) that make me realize just how much my body has changed since I made that decision, and it is ok. I’ve not had a serious injury since that day. I love that I only think about food as fuel. I love that I don’t worry about race weight. I love that I’m not preoccupied with how my body looks. I love that I’ve also gotten faster too 😊😎 #strongnotskinny #edawareness #bodypositive #runnerbodies #strongwomen #rabbitelite #runinrabbit @runinrabbit @run_relentless

Should I get an X-ray if I sprained or twisted my ankle?
Answer:

Something asked a lot is whether an X-ray is necessary. There are a few simple guidelines you can follow in making an assessment whether you should get an X-ray or not.
1. If you are unable to bare any weight at all - an acute soft tissue injury like a sprained ankle will always result in pain whilst weight bearing in the early stages, but even with the most severe sprains, you should be able to bare some weight even if minimal. A simple test is to stand using an aid either crutches or a table or a friend, gently rest your foot flat on the floor in a comfortable position, transfer weight to the injured ankle slowly, even a 10% weight bearing movement can suffice at an early stage. If you are unable to do this at all without severe pain then I would suggest an X-ray ASAP.
2. If you are unable to move your foot and ankle - the swelling induced by the body will limit the range of motion and ability to motive the ankle but at the least you should be able to do some basic movements even if restricted. Whilst seated try to move your toes, point your foot forward and backwards and side to side, if you can’t do any of these and there is absolutely no movement then I would suggest an X-ray ASAP.
3. No improvement after 3-5 days. If you have no improvement with the above mentioned in the first 3-5 days, then it’s likely there is other underlying issues, possibly a hairline fracture or evulsion fracture which commonly occurs with severe sprains.
4. Swelling above the ankle - generally ankle sprains will become swollen and this should be mainly localised to the inner and outer ankle, foot and toes. But if you have excessive swelling above the ankle extending more than 1 inch above then this could be a sign of a fractured fibula or tibula. A simple assessment can be carried out at home - use your thumb or finger and press along the fibula and tibula bones starting at the knee and work down feelin along the bones, if you reach a point above the ankle that’s extremely sensitive or tender and you are unable to bare weight, I would suggest and X-ray ASAP.

What doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger if it motivates you to focus and work harder on your goals. Four years ago to the day, I swerved my bike to avoid hitting a car door and ended up breaking a bone in my shoulder. I was training with friends for the 545 mile #aidslifecycle charity ride from SF to LA. I had 6 weeks after the fracture to recover before the start of the ride, so I got an indoor bike trainer and trained with my broken shoulder in a sling. 6 weeks wasn’t enough time to fully recover so I had to do the ride the following year. While my friends were biking to LA, I focused on fitness. Heavy squats helped complete the PT for an old knee injury and allowed me to run without pain. 16 months after I started running again, I achieved my 2:59 marathon goal. 30 months after the shoulder fracture, I swam 2.4 miles, biked 112 miles and ran a marathon to complete an #ironman triathlon.
Adversity will break you out of a comfort zone, but it’s up to you to reevaluate whether you are making progress on your goals or just letting them slip away. It’s going to be painful and hard either way, but you’ll forget the pain and only be left with satisfaction if you focus on achieving your goals.

Why you ask?Well children have larger head to body ratio, heavier heads compared to body weight, weaker necks and more unsteady gait (walking). We all have experienced injuries to our head at some stage during our growth and development. Here are few signs that require a trip🚑 to the emergency room🏥. These include: being inconsolable, bulging of the soft spot in the front of the head,
continually rubbing the head,
excessively sleepy, bloody or yellow fluid coming from the nose or ears, high-pitched cry, loss of balance, poor coordination, pupils that aren’t the same size,
sensitivity to light or noise, vomiting or most importantly - If you notice any symptoms that your child is acting out of the ordinary — or you just feel as if something isn’t right.
Pictured here is an unfortunate complication of pediatric head injury: the "Epidural Hematoma". Epidural hematoma (EDH) is a traumatic accumulation of blood between the inner table of the skull and the stripped-off dural membrane.
EDH results from traumatic head injury, usually with an associated skull fracture (seen in photo 2) and arterial laceration. The inciting event often is a focused blow to the head, such as that produced by hitting the head on a hard surface after a fall from the bed in this case. Approximately 70-80% of epidural hematomas (EDHs) are located in the temporoparietal region ( as seen in picture 1) where skull fractures cross the path of the middle meningeal artery or its dural branches. Expanding high-volume epidural hematomas can produce a midline shift of the brain (look carefully in picture 1). If detected early and treated aggressively the prognosis is excellent. Fortunately for this child, I was able to suspect and make the diagnosis.

Every ounce of energy has been zapped from me in addition to traveling to a convention in TX. So needless to say I’ve not been training and I’ve been sleeping as much as possible. It feels great to get back to business and pick up where I left off (sort of). 🍑🍑HIP UPDATE🍑🍑 my pain level has decreased every day since my injury at the Arnold and my daily function such as sleeping, sitting, walking, lifting my leg, etc has continued to improve as well. While slow to improve, my ability to train my lower body is moving along. We decided to get an MRI to confirm the tissues involved in the injury to help us decide if further medical intervention is applicable to speed along recovery. It TURNS OUT I have a small avulsion fracture/tear in my rectus femoris. I don’t believe the avulsion is a complete avulsion as we didn’t see it on the initial x-ray. I have yet to speak to my orthopedist directly for complete information on this but this explains and confirms a lot. At this point in time my treatment is NOT CHANGING because of the MRI results. In fact, in most scenarios like mine, an MRI isn’t warranted as it doesn’t change the course of action much since we treat presentation and not images. This isn’t the type of tear they do surgery for. Because I’m a high level athlete with a championship event on the horizon, as well as being a PT and having a good professional relationship with my orthopedist, we got the imaging done. ⚡️It is not changing the course of treatment.⚡️ I can’t express that enough. IMAGING ISN’T EVERYTHING! So stop defining yourself by the MRI of your lumbar spine or your shoulder. Just because you have a labrum tear, or a herniated disc, or a tear in your hip DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A DOOMED INVALID. If you approach your rehab from a technical and programming perspective, chances are you will exceed your pre injury level of athleticism. Find the right person to help you do that! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼TODAY’S WORKOUT 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 #squat 90kg x 5 x 3 sets, comp bench 105kg x1 @ 7, 100kg x 3 x 4 sets, Larsen #benchpress 75kg x 6 x 3 sets. Skipped chins and that’s ok!

⚠️Note that the ulnar locks into the humerus in full extension: this is one reason an elbow hyperextension injury is so severe. The end of the radius may fracture or it may serve as a pivot point causing more disruption at or below the elbow joint.
🔺 The radius is bigger at the wrist end and takes a lot of force through the wrist and hand, but has a small surface at the elbow joint to transmit that force.
🔺 The radius rotates and moves at two locations with forearm rotation (pronation and supination). Both point if rotation need to move correctly for proper forearm movement.
