Then I got hurt and had some awesome friends show me how to have passion and integrity and appreciation for the sport. I can not thank @devonbates98 and @kellett__ enough for show me how to love the sport and truly respect it. There is a lot that goes into it and they showed me the ways of enjoying training and having fun off the bike. If it was not for you guys I’d still be hesitant to throw I leg over I bike. And thank you to @gageguerin969 for also getting me back into it and training with us. It truly means a lot to me. I can’t thank my dad enough for being behind me 100 percent of the time and my hole family for making so many sacrifices from when I was 7 to when I was 18. My mom had never had a brand new truck until 2 years ago. And my dad has yet to have a brand new vehicle. What does mindfulness mean to you? There's so much talk these days about disconnecting, meditating, and making space for ourselves, but mindfulness doesn't merely happen in solitude while at rest. It can be carried into our interactions with others and throughout all moments of our lives. To ... What does mindfulness mean to you? There's so much talk these days about disconnecting, meditating, and making space for ourselves, but mindfulness doesn't merely happen in solitude while at rest. It can be carried into our interactions with others and throughout all moments of our lives.

To me, mindfulness is simply awareness - being aware of the thoughts that run through our minds. Recognizing that it's our thoughts that create our feelings and those feelings determine our outcomes. Our feelings can lead us into action or away from it.

Which thoughts do we latch onto, which ones will we allow to carry more weight, which ones do we believe? How are they impacting our lives?

I first found mindfulness through sport - through my desire to continue in pursuit of my skiing goals despite odds being stacked against me. Mindfulness has allowed me to continue running, skiing, hiking & biking after 9 knee surgeries. It has allowed me to enjoy activities in more profound ways. To respect my body with its limitations.

I cant count the number of times I’ve heard. “I can’t do yoga, I’m not flexible.” 🙄ya think? I’ll clue you all in on a little fact. I was always an athlete and very muscle bound at that. There’s wasn’t a flexible part of me until yoga. Remember, coaches having you stretch before any sport as a warm up? Hated it! I couldn’t touch my toes in a fold if money was laid on the line. After years of yoga, I still hate folding. I’m still not freakishly flexible. Notice my left leg is in lotus, I’m not trying to be fancy I’m using that as a crutch. My left hamstring is so tight that I seriously still can’t fold if I leave it out straight. Flexibility is my nemesis and my antidote is persistence in yoga. Look at that nose on that knee, that’s a win for me; even if I’m cheating a bit. My practice, my rules. Now fold!

Since I know a bunch of people getting ready for @tahoeshow next weekend, I figured I’d throw a few #fbf #flexfriday pics up from my prep for last year’s Tahoe show at 1 week out🤷🏽‍♂️ I feel like I’m one of the only people who actually likes those last few weeks of prep, despite the suffering and how shitty you constantly feel😂 When I first injured my knee last September, I immediately knew the injury was bad enough to the point where I wasn’t going to be able to compete this year and when that hit, I knew I had 2 options: 1) try to train through it like an egotistical douche, risk tearing something and risk never be able to body build again, or 2) acknowledge how young I am in this sport and how much time I have in the long run to be better and take a bit of a hiatus from competitive bodybuilding (I’m barely cracking 200 lbs right now lmao), give the injury the time it needs to heal naturally, and focus on more important things in life for a bit.. In hindsight, I’m sure as hell glad I chose option 2 because now that the injury has healed 11 months later, it’s time to get back to it real soon, put some size on, and get ready bring something crazy to the stage in 2019💪🏽 #italianrhinocomeback

But I did feel the pop and was in a lot of pain right when it happened on the track. And as it turned out it was torn. You can function without it but I did that through the 2009 season and it sucked. So I made the hard decision to fix it so I'm ready for 2019! So many ups and downs in this sport.

I'd try a little shorter stirrup and practice becoming more dexterous in transitioning back and forth from one to the other on the flat at walk ,trot,canter ,gallop and over poles . In order to advance in this or any sport ,you must ride in good style .Golf ,skiing ,tennis and riding ALL require a physicality .So back to basics !!! You must nail these basics or you will get stuck in the great collection pen of people jumping between 2'6" - 3' forever .Even if that's all you think you want to jump (or all your horse should jump ) ,you can always "aim high " in the event you find yourself with the "horse or a lifetime "or decide to re calibrate your goals .Next time a picture that shows more detail ( the sun should be behind the camera ,not behind you ,the subject .OK??? 💥 The patellar tendon is the continuation of the quadriceps tendon that is attached from the bottom of the kneecap (patella) to the bone bump (tibial tuberosity) just below the knee. It helps to increase the leverage and force that the quadriceps muscles can exert on the knee joint through its attachment to the patella
.
💥 Injury to the tendon is called "Patellar Tendinopathy" and exists on a continuum of 3 stages (like any other tendinopathy):
.
1) Reactive Tendinopathy
2) Tendon Dysrepair
3) Degenerative Tendinopathy
.
💥 Treatment includes exercise and activity modifications to either increase or decrease the overall load to the tendon, which may include direct loading exercises as well as addressing any biomechanical impairments (mobility, strength, or movement coordination deficits in neighboring body regions) that may be contributing to patellar tendon overload
.
💥 The good news? The vast MAJORITY of people with patellar tendinopathy can return to their previous level of FUNCTION and/or SPORT after appropriate treatment 👌🏼

Getting back on the volleyball court has been one of the greatest, most satisfying moments I’ve had in a long time. Getting back into the sport I love most, using it as an outlet for life’s frustrations and stresses, challenging myself in ways I no longer thought I could. That pleasure evaporated into excruciating pain as I took a fall that left me cradling my knee that took the brute of the fall. A thousand panicked thoughts have been racing through my head as I’ve been fighting back tears from the pain and the unknown. Because that is what happens when life offers us an unforeseen road block. A shut door. Failure. Disappointment. Heartbreak. Loss. The fragility of our humanity emerges as we have convinced ourselves that we have control over our circumstances; when in truth, all we have is control over how we respond to them. It’s as simple and complicated as that. Success is balanced with inevitable failure, confidence with humility, and hard work with rest. Whether I like it or not, my warp speed has been slowed. But what I have gained; a wild and deep appreciation for my body - something we only seem conscious of when it has been limited - a moment to be introspective, and the chance to practice surrendering - accepting the things I cannot change. Pain is certain. My knee hurts. Suffering is a choice. Wishing it were different, beating myself up, fearing what’s to come. So who are you when things get hard? When you’re offered the sourest lemons the world has to offer? Because I dare say that who we are then is all we need to know. So not if, but when you find yourself devastated by one of life’s unforeseen curveballs; take a deep breath. Because even if you don’t believe it now, the only thing that separates your torrential storm from the inevitable blue skies that are most certainly on their way is time. You’re stronger than you know, these moments are but invitations for you to prove that to yourself. We don’t have to like adversity but the badass version of you standing on the other side of it demands it. Life is after all just warrior training.

Pensando nisso, Petersen e colaboradores investigaram se um brace de joelho visando corrigir o mau alinhamento patelar, poderia auxiliar a terapia de exercícios em pacientes com DFP.
Após 6 semanas de tratamento:

I will always remember what the first surgeon told me more than 3 years ago: "you'll never come back the same"
Look like he was wrong because I'm BACK AND CRAZIER THAN EVER. Just cost me an ACL, lateral ligament, meniscus, cartilage, fibula and 1.5 . years of fighting. But at the end it is the best thing that ever happened to me.
Just believe in yourself because no one can do it better than you.

As a sports chiropractor I use this data for injury prevention strategies📝 In the sport of powerlifting, the shoulder is the region most likely being injured, and by experience that is likely related to the bench press. Therefore, injury prevention strategies would concentrate around pressing technique and para-scapular👐🏼 control. Common faults include incorrect elbow position on the descent, created by excessive shoulder external rotation when tucking the elbow in, resulting in shear forces at the AC joint⚡️ On the ascent, “flaring” of the shoulder joint into internal rotation may occur if there is a strength deficit or poor motor control.

In weightlifting, the trunk works as both a stabiliser and prime mover depending on the phase of the lift. They all suffer in a different way what I call the “Lazy Hip Flexors Syndrome”. The European schools in general focus the most of their attention on the extension pattern. How many times have you heard “PUSH DOWN!” looking at block starts in competitions o trainings? I was coached this way and I’ve been coaching that way too.

It took months close to olympic sprinters and illuminated coaches to understand that sometimes is more important to cue a powerful drive of the knee forward out of the blocks… Looking at Andre DeGrasse from less than 5 meters away I could actually witness a tremendous hip flexion out of the first three steps. Exactly like a ferocious MMA fighting move.

One of the best drills I’ve seen in order to develop a good hip flexion is what in Altis they refer to as “A Double Skip (with replacement)”. Basic cue is “The leg on the ground lifts before the other one goes down, big emphasis on the switch in the air”. I went back to my video library to show the drills to the guys here and I found this great execution by Ilaria @ilaria.malano filmed by Giulia @giu.riva.

Not many know but Cam sustained a pretty serious knee injury back in Hawaii the last time he surfed 6months ago... What seemed like a dream run was halted pretty quickly, he was very humble about his injury but needed immediate surgery. As anyone knows not competing that long in any sport it’s hard to bounce right back. Then to not even surf an go straight into high profiled contest and place equal 9th in a field of 100+ best surfers around? Well that’s something to be proud about! @camrichards so stoked to cu back in the water an smiling! Congrats buddy on all your hardwork!

So.... this past weekend I competed at the @dinamikcomp at the @thefrontslc and during the qualification round on Friday I was heel hooking and as my knee turned out I felt/ heard a POP with a sharp pain. I ended climbing in the finals the next day even tho I had pain with just walking, but my plan ... So.... this past weekend I competed at the @dinamikcomp at the @thefrontslc and during the qualification round on Friday I was heel hooking and as my knee turned out I felt/ heard a POP with a sharp pain. I ended climbing in the finals the next day even tho I had pain with just walking, but my plan was to warm up and after previewing the 3 boulders to then make a my decision if i could possibly climb them with mostly 1 leg. I realize this wasn’t the smartest decision, but in the end it worked out in my favor and I won without hurting my knee any more. I went and saw a knee specialist Dr. this morning and the next step is getting an MRI. He thinks it can either be a Lateral Meniscus tear or Grade 1 LCL tear. Short term plan is to take it easy this week so that means I won’t be competing in the @summer_comp this weekend and to continue training around this injury safely. 1 legged sport climbing until the swelling goes down and it’s less painful. So still on track to compete at the Lead World Cups in July. Some people don't have really flexible hips so it'll be harder to be able to do the splits. Other people have very flexible hips so they might be able to do the splits in on day 🍌
Essential stretches: 1. Lay out a yoga mat on a flat surface 🍌
2. Wear flexible clothes (this will be easier to stretch in) 🍌
3. Sit on the mat with one leg out to the side and the other folded towards your groin. Turn your body towards the extended leg 🍌
Lean forward and place your hands close to the foot and your head as close to your knee as it will go 🍌
Rest here for one minute, breathing deeply and then switch sides 🍌
4. Do a straddle stretch 🍌
Extend both legs out to the side as far as you can while seated. Make sure the the toes point up to the sky 🍌
Sit tall, then bend forward at the hips as if you're trying to touch your chest to the floor. rest and breathe for one minute. 🍌
5. Do a standing hamstring stretch 🍌
Stand with legs hip width part. Touch your toes and hold. 🍌
6. Hip flexor stretch 🍌
Get on both knees. Step with your right foot so that the knee is bent in front of you 🍌 Square your hips so that they are even. Lean your pelvis forward as far as you can until you feel a stretch in your hip. After 30 seconds, lean your left arm and grab your back leg stretching it. Hold and repeat on the opposite side 🍌
7. Lunges 🍌
Go into a lunge and hold this for 30 seconds and repeat on other leg 🍌
8. Back and front leg stretch 🍌
Sit in your lunge and then take take your front leg and straighten this. Sit on your back leg and lie on your front leg for 30 seconds. Repeat on other leg 🍌
9. Splits 🍌
Slowly glide into your splits with your hips squared 🍌
Keep your back straight and focus on a dot on the wall. Hold this for 30 seconds and repeat on other leg🍌
10 stretch 🍌
After doing your splits stretch out of it 🍌
Take a warm shower and dress warmly to keep your muscles warm 🍌

⏱Two of these three exercises are just isometric holds for time. Isometrics are extremely valuable for tendon rehab and improving muscular recruitment. Poor quad contraction? Isometrics all day baby.
.
💡Notice his knee is in front of his toe in the third exercise. That’s ok! He’s a human AND a basketball player: everyday he does things that involve pushing knee out in front of his toes. Therefore, we must prepare and strengthen the patellar tendon to endure that kind of stress and load.
.
💰This idea right here is a HUGE reason why most rehab specialists don’t do well with high level athletes: If you avoid areas of potential provocation in rehab and are scared of causing any pain, you are likely going to leave your athletes underprepared for the demands of their sport.

This exercise is important because @g_chery is coming back from 2 knee surgeries. ACL reconstruction on his left knee last Feb and ACL PCL reconstruction on his right knee 4 months ago. His goal is to play flag football at a high level with confidence, strength, speed, and explosiveness. The abductors and glutes need to be strong to help limit non contact injuries during any sport. A 6th place seems pretty far away from the podium but a tiny 2.10 points to the third place make this distance shorter. Anyhow not taking part in the competition which I have considered wouldn’t take me anywhere except my bed in the hotel room. This was my worst injury since 2012. At the first day of training my legs split apart under the water and effected both of my groins and my right knee... But the combination of physiotherapy by @aaaaaangi_aaaaaangi @maryschoe . and the acupuncture treatment by @valerie_sport_acupuncture did really magic 🧚🏻‍♀️ . Despite of my doubts I was actually able to compete with my full optional list. I consider this another big achievement this year.
As professional high diver you have to be ready for it. Months of mental and physical preparation combined with years of experience and a good diet make this sport look easy but its not a walk in the park as some people might think. Sport organizations are the new weapon for countries to spread their cultural domination and are also the heart of institutionalized racisme and other discriminations. I rather had ended my sport career standing than living it on my knee. But it’s a wound of pain and a wind of hope type of feeling the next morning, so yeah, I feel you bro. Now, that Nike take a position on the issue, it bring tears to me because it means humanity is trying to change and for the best. There is always Hope and I will keep riding my bike because love win.

I didn’t take the slot to Xterra Worlds, someone more desired to commit to the training of triathlon deserves it. As fun as it was beating myself up out there and surviving the tumbles I just want to focus on running far towards @hurthawaii but...playing today with so many friends was worth every bloody knee & I have so many to thank for loaning me a bike @alohasportskona, a helmet (Kainoa), taking time to teach me @gnmatsu & @jmazu , fixing up my beat up body @jessehoulding, all the fuel @spring_energy, @underthebodhitreebigisland, @hawaiian_ola, the @theclubkona for a safe gym despite the recent storm, The Millers & their massive group of volunteers, and tucked deep within every mile my hubby @mikeybrown.photo & Kainoa. ❤️ But for real, thank you God for this precious day and that I was able to walk away pretty much unharmed despite deep rooted fear of mountain biking...and to @_kel_808 we are all thinking of you in your recovery from today’s tumble. Итак, в продолжение предыдущего поста о целях для гимнасток и осознанной работе в помощь тренеру. 🎓Я остановилась на третьем компоненте. В нем нужно четко описать так называемую 'разницу' наш вектор целей минус вектор состояния. А проще говоря, отклонение текущего состояния от запланированого 'идеального'. Этот самый вектор ошибки -это основа для формирования оценки качества управления. Короче говоря, для достижения своих целей этот самый вектор ошибки нужно максимально приблизить к нулю. Вот так, а кто сказал, что математика спортсменам не нужна?;) а теперь осталось воплотить это все на практике. Есть вопросы или все понятно?))

The first step is to set up a list of your goals from the most important to the less ones. The 2:nd step is to make the same list, but with present state with already achieved things in gymnastics. The 3:d step is to subtract the first step from the second one. And see the error vector or what do you need to do to move from the present state to your goal-state. you can then show your analysis to your coach and together work out a plan for how to achieve your goals in practice. Acceleration in our sport is so crucial. We only have 60 feet before we turn left, so getting to near maximal speed as fast as possible is vital. It’s all in the first step. •
Points of emphasis here:
1. Triple Extension of the ankle, knee, and hip of the lead leg.
2. The body in a “Powerline” at roughly 45 degrees.
3. High knee drive, allowing the leg to push into the ground with more force.
4. Ankle dorsiflexion, allowing that force to be transferred into the ground more efficiently.

Throughout high school i was the type of student who joined every sport. Ranging from football, basketball, track & field and ballet. It never crossed my mind to join a gym because of all the sports i enrolled myself in. My first year at university i joined the football team and during a tournment in Turkey I injured my knee badly and had to stop all sports for two years and had to go to physiotherapy. My fourth year in university i was back on the football team and injured my knee again in a tournament in Milan. The doctor informed me that i had osteoarthiritis in my knee and was in a brace for a month.
My final year of univeristy i decided to join inspire. I had met Ivana before through my cousins and i loved her vibe and motivation. When i began training an empty 10 kilo bar back squat seemed impossible to do. Deadlifts were something i never imagine myself doing. Ivana kept on telling me that i had so much strength in me and that one day i will be carrying so much more. Fast forward 3-4 months, when i began carrying heavy weights finally! Then during one of my basketball games i slipped and landed on my knee and had to get an MRI done and the doctor found liquid in my knee so I had to stop again due to the injury. So for 6 weeks i couldnt carry any weights or bend my knee more than a 90 degree angle. Ivana being the magician that she is was able to accomadate my workout with my knee situation.

Till this day there are things i cant completely do because of my knee but i feel much stronger then i did before, i barely complain about any sort of knee pain and even my body figure changed so much. It was some of the best moments of my life and lead me to meeting some of the greatest people in my life. That being said my body certainly paid the price. You’re body may be strong, but will crack when a 330 lb grown man runs through your knee with his helmet. I’m not tough and I’ve learned that pain is not fun. Anyone who’s ever experienced REAL pain will tell you that pain sucks and the do not have a high threshold for pain. That statements reserved for the ones who have manageable pain. The only way to prepare your body for the demand of sport or even life is to strengthen it as much as possible. 5 yrs ago I was told to back off of training and I needed a knee replacement. There are many athletes, soldiers, and accident victims who are dealing with much worse. However, I went through a difficult time and became depressed. I didn’t want to accept it. I decided to strengthen and modify lifts as opposed to giving them up. I spent months in the hospital and hundreds of hrs in rehab. Here are a list of a few injures/surgeries.
ACL, meniscus, metal removed from eye, carpal tunnel band cut, 2nd meniscus surgery, broken arm, broken wrist, broken ankle, hernia screen Lt side, hernia screen right side, dislocated shoulder, cracked knuckle, torn thumb socket, 17 staples in head, MRSA infection in knee, knee flush, knee screws, wore a PICC line for 6 months, Jones fracture, 3rd meniscus, L3-L4-L5 rupture. Im in pain every single day. Some days worse than others. I’m 41 yrs old and will tell you that training and movement are the only things that help me feel better. An injury does not mean the end. It means that a fix will require time, great effort, and consistency. I’ve rehabbed back every single time. Find a Dr, trainer, PT, TEAM you believe in and can help you along the journey. And they are just automatically assumed to be the stronger sex! STORY TIME- My dad has made me help on our farm all my life so I am tougher than a guy in his mind. My dad is the boys basketball coach at my school, so when ever the guys get lazy he has me go over their and play with them and by play I mean he tells me to go and body check anyone who is not paying attention to the plays and if they leave a hole in their defense I'm supposed to use it and if they try to block me I'm supposed to just run straight into them and knock them over ( which usually means I fall too ( which hurts FYI)) of course the guys have started to endlessly mess with me at school because of this! Today the guys decided to play basketball at lunch ( they NEVER let girls play with them) and they called me over to play with them which I thought was weird and as we are playing I realize them are purposely trying to hurt me. They throw me the ball every time especially when I'm being guarded which forces me to bony check the giant 6'3' hot muscular football star in front of me (FYI I'm 5'9') so of course that just barely moves him at hurts my boobs. After about 5 times of this the giant in front of me gets smart realizing when I'm going to hit him and slams backwards into me! I now have a cracked shoulder blade, a bruised shoulder and tailbone along with my already injured knee which I will be having surgery on when basketball ends! But my dad like the loving father he is tells me " your ok nothings broken now come help me with practice" in case you can't tell my dad was a college basketball star in Indiana and almost made it to the NBA. He is also trying to get me to the point where I will get a basketball scholarship to Indiana . So yeah that's my rant for today! #rant #basketball #sportsinjury

The first thing one must do to rehab this injury is by modifying or reducing the intensity of the activity that aggravates the knee. In other words you must rest to let it heal. After all, it is an overuse injury. Second thing you must do is address the biomechanics of the hip and foot. Third you must start your rehab journey and slowly load the tendon to build resilience.

Below is a list of exercises in order for you to follow:
.
1. Foam roll quads, hips, hamstring and calf 5-6 mins (not shown in video)
2. Cross friction massage patella tendon for 5 mins every other day, will have slight pain afterwards, that is ok
3. Stretch quads/hip flexors 1 min
4. Isometrics to load the tendon 3 sets of 30-45 secs hold, 1-2 min rest in between (stay below 4/10 pain)
5. Wall Sits to load the tendon 3 sets of 30-45 secs hold, 1-2 min rest in between (stay below 4/10 pain)
6. Eccentric single leg squats 3 sets of 5-10 reps (keep hips pointing straight and knee aligned to second and third toes)
7. Hip abduction 3 sets of 5-10 reps
8. Gradual return to activity/sport

So many of you know I started the sport a lot later than most and started at 11 years old, I’m Now 20 but had a year and a half out of gymnastics due to injury with my knee, Therefore I’ve done the sport for about 8 years.
This has been the scariest thing I’ve done in those 8 years! FACT!
Those of you who’ve trained with me or train at my gymnastics club would know that I have a fear of High Bar Dismounts, I will go forwards with some persuasion but I haven’t gone backwards off a Highbar since I was 12!! “Why is that?” Some of you might ask...well, back when I was 12 I learnt my first giants on my own and I thought F*ck it why not go for a backaway also😅😂👍🏻
I went for the backway and in doing so I smashed my shins on the bar and fell onto my chest with legs bend over and chest against a tumble track leaving me in what some would refer to a scorpion shape😥 I was luck to have not snapped my spinal cord or break any bones!
This not only Gave me back pain from then on but it also stopped me mentally from ever wanting to do the skill again and I haven’t ever since!
Not only did I manage to break the fear of doing what some might see as a “simple” tuck back dismount I also managed to over rotate it and double back😱 I genuinely never thought I’d do anything like that off the bar and this has certainly boosted my confidence!!
I’m proud of myself and everyone who watched would probably say I was so impressed of myself I was like the joker with my smile😂😂👍🏻
So so happy I decided to overcome what’s been a battle and endless fear of mine😋
What make me decide to do this is that after my knee injury I wasn’t going to let anything hold me back and I’m genuinely so proud of myself for keeping to what I said and achieving what I did last night! 💚💚

I went thru with it and never said a word. In the fight I did many things wrong.. but the first leg kick to my outside of knee completely disabled my leg and the rest is history... I lost boo hoo. I’ll be back after my leg heals. I have a lot to accomplish in this sport. I ain’t done yet. Bet... 🙏🏽

On the 5th of January during practice i was injured and it came to the point where surgery was required. This happened in preparation for the Baltimore Women's Sabre World Cup.
My grandma passed away on the 24th of January and i was still walking on crutches at this time, meaning her whole funeral and all that i had a knee brace on and i was in a lot of discomfort but finally on the 13th of February, i had surgery on my knee to correct the damage that was done during that accident. The surgery went well and besides all the pain i'm enduring at this current time i am to make a full recovery!
Can't wait to start practicing again and continuing with what i love the most which is my sport, fencing.
I can't thank my family and friends enough for the patients and support they've had with me these past few weeks. It's been a hell of a bumpy ride up to now but i'm confident that it will start getting better soon! 😁

Its a connective tissue disorder that effects pretty much every single part of your body. It’s so rare that I lived with it for 19 years without knowing what was wrong. We have the Hypermobility Type, also known as Type 3, and there is no cure.
It mostly just effects Daniel and I. In my case, I have terrible joint pain all over. My knee bugs me the most since it subluxes so often, so I always carry a knee support with me just in case.
Our joints hyperextend, especially our knees and fingers. My knee is slightly hyperextending in this picture, much less than usual, and I’m so surprised Emily’s isn’t since hers does it the worst. I personally can’t stay in the same position for too long so I’m constantly readjusting so my joints don’t hurt. Neither Daniel or I can hold a pencil and write without our fingers absolutely killing.
Daniel has had more surgeries than I can count. It seems like there is always something wrong with him. His bones break so easily that he gets exempt from gym if they are doing any type of contact sport. He has literally broken his ankle by just walking on it the wrong way.
He has also been diagnosed with POTS which is very closely tied with EDS. Over the past few years he’s been getting terrible dizzy spells, fainting, having unbelievable headaches, and seizures.
EDS effects everyone in a different way. It’s a genetic disorder that we have just learned to live with. Awareness needs to be spread because it’s so hard to find a doctor who even knows what it is. Just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

I have stories with each of these ladies, and although we may be competitors out on the course, the love is real❤️. @cassidylanewatton and I go way way back, to the 2014 Warrior Dash World Championships, and we have always bonded over being strength-based athletes in a sport with lots of mileage and many ladies half our size (think we’ve both resorted to short course racing now). @sarah.l.harrison and I went to college together at the one and only @virginia.tech #hokienation and would always size each other up in the gym (jk not really, but those abs 😍). It's so fun to reunite 3+ years later in none other than this crazy sport of obstacle racing. And @orlawalsh16 - this girl has as much heart as she has grit. I'll never forget the 2016 Spartan Race in Breckenridge, CO. With less than 2 miles til the finish in a 13 mile race, I took a spill down the mountain and whacked my knee on a sharp rock. I was crying and bleeding, and instead of continuing on, Orla stopped and went right into paramedic mode, taking off her shirt to make a turnicut for my knee and making sure I was taken care of before finishing her race. .

So, while I know I have a giant target on my back and feel like a zebra amongst a herd of lions, I at least know they would never actually eat me 😜😂 (right guys? 😳)

People tends to think that I'm being a burden by being injured at least once a year,but I like to look at it as a new obstacle to overcome. I'm quite aware of the fact that I do have health issues, and more importantly that my left knee is definitely nowhere near of being in shape. Yes it does suck to have to rest for a while when your an sport addict's, but I also see this time as valuable moment where it's my motivation that's being put through challenges. Because at the end of the day it's not about the injuries, but about how you overcame them and what they taught you.

Exactly one year ago on my 26th birthday, I was down on my luck and crying alone in my room due to my injury.
My family, girlfriend and my friends came to my house to surprise me.

I am so blessed and lucky to be so loved my everyone around me. I hope I can and will always reciprocate that love back to you guys.

I remember my father stuck by my side the whole day through a simple knee surgery last February & even when I asked him to leave to get himself something to eat while we waited he refused to.

I have regained my smile which I've always displayed in the toughest of times and have continued with my passion.
I would have been unable to do this without my loved ones and all those around me.
Thank you to everyone else who continously give me messages of encouragement and support, I love you all.

Apologies for the lack of content over the past week and to my YouTube audience who haven't seen a vlog in what seems to be a lifetime! The uploads are coming back soon don't worry!

But here's just a quick life update with what seems to be a spontaneous trip to the USA is actually a mindshift of priorities for the time being. The ACL rehab process is going well and I am here in the USA to continue my physiotherapy and treating each day with 100% focus on getting back to full fitness. I've got approximately 6-8 months to go before I can start training and playing again, I'll be posting a rehab video in the following days.

However, for those who have been following my journey for at least the past 6 months, you know I had a knee reconstruction which of course meant I couldn't focus on my football which at the time was the worst possible outcome for me considering the momentum I forged for myself in 2018.

Despite being on the recieving end of possibly the worst injury of my career so far, I haven't allowed my situation to hinder my progress. Trust me, I wish nothing more than to be back on the pitch playing the sport I love. Although I'm not wearing my boots, shinnies, playing kit or having a ball at my feet, I've momentarily shifted my focus on developing other areas of my life.

I'm here in Los Angeles travelling the USA for 6 weeks, to develop @easa_australia with my business partner @geraldtan_ with a mission to create the most dynamic and innovative college scouting agency in the world. We are meeting with some reputable college teams and coaches to build our network to support our athletes ambitions. But most importantly, we are on the move.

If you ever encounter a scenario that only the supernatural can change, shift your focus from a self limiting perspective to something you can change and influence. It may not be your ideal choice but it's important to always be on the move in life because the clock doesn't stop ticking. Never stand still for too long or you might just become good at it.

When I take my athletes through this drill it is meant to mimic the execution of the 40yd start. I not only emphasize the knee drive (opening the hips to above 90degree execution of hip flexion) but also emphasize the driving force into triple extension. Each motion is done with maximal hip flexion and maximal power execution into triple extension. An athlete cannot simply execute this move, he/she must first improve their strength and power of the hip flexors, glutes, quads, calves, and plantarflexors and work on the rythm before implementing this drill.
