So I've gotten messages asking for my leg workout routines.. Well this one is one of my favorite exercises which is pretty easy to learn how to do. The leg press machine targets the entire leg making sure that each muscles is being worked. The quadriceps, gluteus maximus, soleus, gastrocnemius, hamstrings and adductor magnus. Ie. Complete upper and lower leg muscles including the calves and buttocks.. Start off with a lighter weight. Progress to stack on more weights to increase the resistance. Making you work harder to push it. Form is very important in order to get a full repetition/movement. Do not go too heavy as this could destroy your form.
Push the weight back and extend your leg, ease on the force exerted to bring legs closer to your body, decreasing the angle by getting your knees to touch your chest for a full repetition to be completed.

So work within your own pace and stay focused on the goal!

I wanted to talk about a small little tip I've been sure to incorporate in my calf exercises, specifically during the calf ... It's been a while since I've posted on here because of how busy this past year with school and work has been, but I promise to start posting consistently again for you guys. I wanted to talk about a small little tip I've been sure to incorporate in my calf exercises, specifically during the calf raise. Notice how I slowly lower the weight while doing each rep and I also allow for a slight pause at the top, the pause allows me to really squeeze the muscle belly and get full recruitment. Another important tip I want to throw out there: When doing any exercise, the muscle stretch is almost as important as the squeeze during the lift. Allow for the muscle to eccentrically contract all the way down to almost a relaxed state. It will increase the range of motion in the lift, and in turn, allow for better muscle recruitment, which in the end, turns to a more efficient lift and better growth. This was my last set and my legs were pretty dead at this point. Brace your Core, exhale as you step up and lift the knee, squeeze the butt cheek of your standing leg and get the opposite knee as high as you can as you pull in your abs. Lower yourself down slowly, ideally it should take two seconds on the way up, One second to squeeze your Butt and Core at the top and two seconds on the way down, so maybe 5 sec per rep.

To maximize results, Increase your load per set. You should feel challenged from the start of the set. If it is too hard, or the step is too high, lower your step to a more comfortable level, but stay challenged. Remember, if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change your body. So now my main focus is hitting legs 3x a week .. one day focused on Glutes/ hammys, then Glutes/quads, then just a general glute day. I workout my calves on every leg day as well. Also started doing abs 2-3x per week to get some more definition there :) .
