It's nearly been a year since we upgraded from friends to lovers and it absolutely flew by. I plan on celebrating many more Valentine's Days with you. Life is one big adventure when you're by my side. Thank you for keeping me wild, for staying in and binging our favorite shows together, for the countless hours you've spent conversing with me about anything and everything, for making me coffee in the morning when I'm tired and for being the biggest goof out there 🤣 Your heart is my favorite thing about you & I intend to keep it safe. I love you forever 😘

Fast forward 2 years to when I started blogging. I started making friends, not just in Toronto, but in every corner of the world. And this is why I always stress how important my IG fam, this little community, is to me 👯‍♂️
*
People complain about the negatives of social media, but I’m so grateful. I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built through these platforms. I’m grateful because in this big world, social media has the potential to make you feel like you have a tribe 👯‍♀️
*
Honestly, I cannot believe that each time I visit a city, there’s no shortage of people I can share coffee and laughs with ☕️
*
So today, I want to do something fun. Share one thing you’re grateful for!

🙋🏼‍♀️I'm a wife to @bencunnington & Mom in a small Northern California town, living her BIG God dream. Most days you find me making lunches, driving our four-man cubs to school & rocking my down jacket. My home IG 👉🏻 @houseofhavilah_
But there are a few unique things about our lives. ⠀

🌍 We, as a family, get to travel the world, encouraging, inspiring & hopefully normalizing the transformative work of Jesus Christ. A couple of times a month you'll see me interrupt my everyday life to hop on a plane to speak, prophesy & strengthen faith communities. I love everything about it! ⠀

ORDINARY MIRACLES - Part 2
.
In Genesis 2, God breathed into Adam, and he rose up inflated and sustained by life.
.
In Ezekiel, God breathed into a valley of dry and dusty bones, and they rose up inflated and sustained by life.
.
In his book, Luke tells us that Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Father, I surrender my Spirit into your hands.” And he took his last breath and died.” (Luke 23:45-46.)
.
In Ancient Hebrew, the word for Spirit and Breath are the same: ruach. It means “air in motion.” They believed that the spirit of God and the breath you take are one and the same: life force, energy, essence, spirit, breath.
.
John tells us that when Jesus appeared to his disciples and friends after rising from the dead, he breathed into them (John 20).
.
Breath and spirit, life force and energy: new life happens when ruach happens. Air-in-motion filling dead things with life. From Adam to Ezekiel to Jesus to the Disciples to you and me: breath was/is life.
.
Breath is a miracle in motion.
.
When Jesus breathed into his disciples – that’s what the text says he did – he could have spoken about anything: judgement, doctrine, creeds… He could have said things like: those guys from the temple last week will know what I was talking about (reference yesterday's post) now!
.
Nope.
.
Instead, he said this:
.
“Receive the Spirit [ruach, breath, life]. If you forgive someone’s sins, they’re gone for good. If you don’t forgive sins, what are you going to do with them?” (John 20:22-23.)
Receive – receive breath, receive life. And forgive.
.
Resurrection is not so much death conquered as it is death forgiven.
.
Forgiveness is like the cycle of breath. We give it, we receive it, we wrestle it out, we continue.
.
Which is wonderful and horrific all at once because on the one hand, I want it. On the other, the fact that I need to breathe it in means that I need to breathe it out too is almost offensive.
.
Sure, I can forgive my barista for making a bad coffee, or my kid for getting toothpaste on the lounge (barely, mind you)…
.
But those who have hurt me? Deep wounds? To the point of death? To those hurting others in our world? The unseen and untold tragedies and abuses?
.

Cuz I’m 😉 Extra like that.
Yes. I took the liberty of saying. Best Ever Honey Cake. It’s just how I like it.
The right density. Killer flavor. Not fluffy. Not airy. Not dry. Super Moist. ( Just don’t over bake it ) 😍 And the GOOEY TOP IS JUST ON POINT. If you don’t want to do the gooey top. ✋🏻Whatevs. Fine. Don’t. [ Although I’m not sure we can be friends, just putting it out there ]. NewBee 🐝 🍯 Dish is the new member of the family this year from my besties @godingersilver . It needed its own Insta Debut. I think this is my third or fourth year sharing this recipe. Hollah at me ladies... you know I shared it with you ( Comment below if you’ve made it, convince the newbies ) this is NOT my recipe it’s Debs @smittenkitchen. I amended her recipe as I like it. Again, each to their own. Google smitten kitchen honey cake
My favorite comment when making this recipe. OMG?!?! Did you just use 21 year old @glengoyne Single Malt 🥃 Whiskey in a cake. Uh. Yes I did. Thanks @lich2 for always sharing his stash with me with love.
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
3 teaspoon cinnamon
Fat pinch of ground cloves ( add more if you like the flavor )
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup honey
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 large eggs at room temp
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Bean Paste or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract @nielsenmassey
1 cup warm coffee or strong tea I used one shot @nespresso and filled the rest of the cup with warm water.
1/2 cup OJ
1/4 cup whiskey. I used @glengoyne whiskey
Fits in three loaf pans, two 9-inch square or round cake pans, one 9 or 10 inch tube or bundt cake pan, or one 9 by 13.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Generously grease pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a large bowl, whisk together the dry. Then add the wet. Mix well. To make the gooey top. Read comments.
Bake until cake tests done, that is, it springs back when you gently touch the cake center. For angel and tube cake pans, this will take 60 to 75 minutes, loaf cakes, about 45 to 55 minutes.. #roshhashana #roshhashanah #jewish #kosher

I wanted that phrase printed on a jewelry card this year, maybe for selfish reasons. (I fucking love boundaries.) ⠀

I didn't love a lot of what it was taking to run BAD BAD. I got caught up in doing what the "experts" were saying when it came to online business. That's the thing with social media, courses, and everything else we see. I think it's smart to do gut-checks on advice we hear, read, or see from others. ⠀

Don't try to do what other people are doing - it robs you of the deep creative magic that is a well in the depths of you. ⠀

I had stopped creating and running my business from that place of childlike play. To get back to that, I started hiring out a team so I can focus even more on what I LOVE to do: make, make, and make. ⠀

Make jewelry, make beautiful photos, make time to read, make time for road trips, and make time with friends who make me feel filled up. I did a photoshoot this weekend. I drank 4 cups of coffee with natural spices that taste like Fall, I lit a candle that smells like Fall, and I listened to slow moody jazz. ☕️🍂🎶 I wish I could convey how happy the process of making jewelry and then photographing it with props makes me. I hope as the rest of the year progresses, I can convey the the love, passion, and energy that I put into every ounce of this brand. Has it always been obvious that I love doing all the photography for BAD BAD? ⠀

What creatively lights you up and has you lose track of time? 💡 ⠀

Less talked about parts of depression and some self care tips for them:
-sleeping in trash. Around it. Water bottles soda cans empty bowls everywhere.
Tips: have a friend come over, ask for accountability and maybe some help with cleaning up. Even just taking three cans when you go downstairs will make a difference.
-not showering for days maybe weeks, not shaving but wanting to.
Tips: nice smelling preferably herbal perfume. Its actually quite calming. Using a wet rag or wipes. I sometimes shave in the car or outside while I’m smoking. Combined with the wipes it makes me feel like I actually did something good for myself. Nice smelling lotion is an amazing pick me up.
-Bad acne
Tips: they have nice herbal face wipes at places like cvs for 4-5$. I have mugwort ones and it’s worked wonders for my skin and I can do it anywhere.
-not brushing teeth for weeks.
Tips: mouth wash helps a lot. Even keep an empty water bottle you can spit it into in your room if it gets that extreme. They also have mini tooth brushes for sale, have a water bottle for rinsing.
-Water sucks, coffee and soda is therapeutic but incredibly unhealthy.
Tips: try to drink even at least half a water bottle, especially since it’s summer. Put a lemon in it even, that’s how my sister and I got started on trying to drink more water. OH when you go to a restaurant get a water first, knowing you can always ask for soda after you drink it. I would drink all the water as I’d get bored while waiting for food, consequently making myself not thirsty for soda after.
Socializing: friends can be a great source of accountability. Even though it’s hard try to tell them what’s going on, and how much your struggling. Ask them to even just come over and take a nap, or have them drag you out of the house. Isolation makes it worse, especially if you stay in your room on the weekends. Even bringing your laptop or phone outside and do what you usually do out there helps. Walk to the corner store, buy a nice drink or snack. Whatever you need.

It would be called Confessions of a Domestic Failure and be for moms like me who drive trash cans on wheels and order pizza more than they'd like to admit.
It would be for moms whose living rooms look like a bomb went on in a thrift store, whose kitchen sinks always have dirty dishes in them, whose counters are never clear, and who live in leggings and hoodies.

The book would be for moms who love their babies with a fiery fierceness but sometimes cry in the bathroom when it's all too much.
I wanted to write a book for moms who don't know how to make motherhood photogenic, but wouldn't trade their life for anything. No, I haven't showered today. No, I haven't had breakfast unless coffee counts as food. No, I haven't brushed my teeth but I did chew gum. I'm working on making friends but until then, I have the UPS guy to make feel awkward with my overshares. By 4PM every day I feel like I'm going to explode and collapse from the mere weight of the responsibility that is caring for the people I love the most and reject my meals, but it's ok because I'm not the only one doing it.
I'm a mom. I'm ridiculously messy. I'm kind of always in survival mode but I heat up quesadillas and give out hugs like a boss.
Confessions of a Domestic Failure is out today and as I sit here in my garbage-mobile, waiting for my 3-year-old to wake up from his nap (naptime is at 10 when you wake up at 5:30am), my heart is full.
I hope you love my book. I hope it makes you feel less alone. Because you're not. Rock on, mamas.
Love, Bunmi (HT's mom)

Available at most bookstores and on Amazon, iBooks, Nook, B&N, etc. Link in profile. Thank you, guys. 💗📚

You know, just long enough to totally knock me out of this crazy algorithm 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have phases where I feel like social media is a complete time sucker for me, and completely kills my productivity at home, so it was nice to just take a step back. However, I adore the creativity & accountability this place provides so it’s only ever temporary. 😉 I’m starting day one of #augustwhole30 today. I’ve started and stopped so many times this summer when the timing just wasn’t right or my heart wasn’t in it. I’m not loving the all or nothing relationship I have with food right now so it’s time for a restart. I don’t believe in taking supplements but I do believe in instant lifting serums/cream (trust me, I’ve been using up to 7 brands but none of them worked but @anacissingapore worked for me)
My key to achieve this sharp V-shape is because of @anacissingapore Vela Contour Serum and lost 8kg within 1-2 months(even though I eat my meals well but I cut down on sugary drinks and carbs) by trying to walk 25km to 30km every single day and burned 2,000+ calories from Monday to Friday.
I wanna take this opportunity to thank @anacissingapore for making this possible for me.
Don’t say I bojio hor. [[ USE MY PROMO CODE = “Gerald10” when you check out if you’re buying @anacissingapore Vela Contour Serum ]] #vlifting #face #selfie

When I was 13 my mom got my brother an electric guitar and an amp, but he seldom touched it. Whenever he was gone I would sneak into his room and play.. one day my mom came in and I honestly thought I was about to get yelled at, but instead she said “Delaney, do you want guitar lessons?” I freaked out. I was so excited. Fast forward one year - I was 14 when I wrote my first song on guitar, and I’ll never forget the moment that I could finally play and sing at the same time. It felt like an impossibility when I first started, but eventually (like anything you practice in life) I didn’t need to think about what my hands were doing. It was 2am and my mom was just falling asleep. I sat in the hall between our bedrooms, her door was open, and asked her if I could play her my song - of course she said yes. This was the very beginning of the most beautiful chapters of my life. I continued to write, sing, and eventually perform wherever I could. I sang at open mic’s, coffee houses, and even some paid gigs. I auditioned for every choir I could in highschool and ended up being in all 3, even though at the time, all my friends made fun of me for it. I didn’t care, music was everything to me. But it is because of one woman, my incredible single mom, I felt confident enough to pursue music as a lifelong career. I never cared about making millions, I just wanted to make a living doing what I love. And here I am, couldn’t ask for more. Still, I’m only human and I go through mad ups and downs just like everyone else. Everyday I gotta remind myself how lucky I am. It’s easy to get lost in my own head - lost in the competitive nature of this industry - so I go back to the beginning where it all started and I gotta say, it’s humbling as fuck. Thanks mom for being the one who always believed in me @lorribaier ❤️ you’re my OG day 1. K end of ramble.

Today marks the beginning of my new career as @GetCraft_PH's Network Manager! 🌟 Wooohoooo! 🎉 I have a ton of awesome things to look forward to—making new friends, growing in a great start-up that values creativity and individuality, and eventually becoming financially independent. 🙌✔️💯 We're only on the second half of 2018 and the magnitude of the changes life's throwing at me still got me shookt: I moved out, I'm seeing someone special (😍), and now I'm officially back in the workforce after 5 years! 😮😁😛 It hasn't been always easy, but one thing's for sure... I'm happy and ready to face this new season because I know GOD'S GOT ME! 💖

A year and a half ago if you would have told me I would be running my own business from “home”—or coffee shops, or friends houses, or from my car—and making more than four times as much as I did when I used to sell insurance, I would not have believed you. If you would have told me I would be leading a community of over 1600 people—everyone from special needs parents, to people struggling with infertility and hormonal issues, to parents of school-age kids that need to keep their kids from getting sick, to people with a desire to use cleaners that don’t give them a headache—and helping them find solutions to real problems, I wouldn’t have believed you. If you would have told me a year and a half ago that I would be hearing testimony after testimony of how one post on social media sparked someone to try something new for “that thing they struggled with” and that it would be the thing that made all the difference for them, I wouldn’t have believed you. A year and half ago if you would have told me it was possible to build residual income—money that keeps coming in every month regardless of whether I work or not; money that I can even WILL to my children after I’m gone to make sure that they never are without, I wouldn’t have believed you. I didn’t know this was an option. I didn’t know this happened to real people—and I definitely didn’t think it would happen to me. I’ll never take this gift for granted—this coming and going as I please and being able to decide what every day looks like, and I’m proud to be able to share with others that this is real. Because it is. It’s real. It’s an option. It’s not just for someone else. It’s for whoever wants it bad enough. #doitscared

Long-distance besties until Feb. 2015 when she moved to #PDX & we got to be short-distance (literally 1 mile) besties!

Jenn inspires me because she’s ruthlessly dedicated to & honest about the things she commits to - in recent years that’s included taking control of her health and her budget. She’s a constant source of inspiration (& accountability) to me.
Jenn recently launched @gymmatte, amazing neutral gym-wear for the "gym-going minimalist." Let me introduce you!

1. What inspired you to start @gymmatte?
✨Two or three years ago, I was knee-deep in the process of making my life healthy again & suddenly spending a lot of time in the gym. Everywhere I looked there were tons of cute workout tanks with cool puns or graphics, but they tended to be bright & colorful. I gravitate toward neutral colors in my everyday life, so my gym life wasn't any different. The idea marinated in my mind for a while until I felt ready to make it happen myself.

2. Who inspires you?
✨people who think for themselves & pursue their goals. I haven't always felt like I've been that person, so I am in awe of women who radiate confidence & energy as they tackle life head on

3. What were you doing 5 years ago?
✨Five years ago I was single & working in marketing in Washington, DC. I hadn't discovered budgeting or a healthy lifestyle yet so I was spending a lot of money on bottomless brunches & no money on a gym membership.

4. Tell me something else about you!
✨I started a personal blog back in 2008 that brought me a lot of my most favorite people. That’s long gone now, but I'm very grateful that the internet continues to find ways to positively impact my life, whether it's a new friendship, a fun business opportunity, or the accountability to continue exercising & eating well.

5. What's the last thing you ate?
The last thing I ate was a piece of @honeymamas Oregon Peppermint Cacao-Nectar Bar after dinner last night -- I grabbed this one & the Nibs & Coffee flavor recently & have been alternating between the two!

For the last 3 years, in the process of growing my business, I’ve made it my mission to still be able to do the things that bring me joy and inspiration. Like…

🏋🏻‍♀️Going to the gym every weekday
🍽Making time to cook delicious and healthy meals (okay, non-healthy too!)
💕Spending more time with my husband
✈️Traveling Europe with friends and family
✨Taking weekdays off if I want to
☕️Regular coffee dates with friends

I wanted to show my clients that you CAN create a joyful life while building a profitable business. But, sometimes it's easy for me to get so caught up in what I do...because I just love it so much! (I really do have some of the best clients!) It's meant that I end up working long hours and taking away from the freedom I've built. So I’m eager for more day dates with Steve, weekday beach trips, and big family dinners while I continue helping more women build their businesses so they too can have personal freedom.❤️

So whatever you need to do to create more inspiration around you daily and bring in more joy, do it. You won't regret making the change!

Back for round ✌🏼of about me (mallory) stuff! This feels a little bit like show and tell, remember that? Anyway — 1️⃣ you may or may not know that I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with a baby BOY!!! 👶🏻💙 it has been a ton of fun so far + I’m positive that keeping my Barre habit has enormously helped me to cope with all the crazy changes going on in my body. #1 fave pregnancy snack: grapes 🍇 I could take or leave them before, but now I have to have them!! 2️⃣ I have recently started — we’ll call it a mindfulness habit — of observing the things I always say I want to do but never do, and making time and space to do them. My top three things that I’m working on implementing now are: • more yoga • cutting + donating my hair — which I finally did just a couple of weeks ago!! Before + after pictured ☝🏼• and third is finding more volunteer opportunities locally! @handsonatl has been a hugely helpful resource for that! 3️⃣ There are few things I love more than scoring a good deal on something cute for my apartment...this weekend i happened upon this beaut @freepeople Westside + it is now our new coffee table!!! That said, I am counting down the minutes til the Scott Antique Market this weekend...!! 4️⃣ I love books, but I am a slow reader and making time to read takes a concerted effort for me. Currently wrapping up Just Mercy, and getting into Children of Blood and Bone as well as Little Virtues by Natalia Ginzburg (not pictured). All three are so so good!!! Once again, variety is the spice of life...I like to keep a couple books going at once so I have options to fit my moods 😜 okay and 5️⃣ lastly: I 💕 @gioantico with all of my heart. I would eat this pizza every single day if I could!!!! 🍕 // alright friends that’s a wrap! Thanks for reading! You can always find me @purebarrewestside, over on my personal account @mallory.overton, or let’s grab coffee one day, I love making new friends ☕️☕️!! Catch you later!! 😘

After an incredible opening weekend @beacon_coffee has established itself on Falmouth high-street. It’s the baby of two of my mates, @alexmayphoto and @samuelkayephoto. Alex was one of the first people I got to know outside of my old crew of friends when I moved back to Falmouth a little over 3 years ago. He was serving coffee at Espressini and quickly it was obvious we were very similar people in a lot of ways. A great friendship naturally grew off the back of this. Shortly after I got to know Sam (as he joined that team) and again he was someone that was a ‘no nonsense/I am what I am’ individual. They actually taught me to appreciate good coffee and basically turned me into the raging coffee snob I am today. Most mornings when I’m not away working I’d start my day having a coffee with either legend or sometimes both; them behind the machine and me sat on a table either reading, producing shoots or editing. So many of the projects you’ve seen from me over the last 3 years involved me drinking their coffee while making the important decisions. They’ve been a huge support to me in all my endeavours; so when Alex told me of their plan I was overjoyed to see them beginning their own journey. On Saturday Beacon opened... it was quite literally full of people enjoying great coffee and having a good time (which is what those guys have always wanted; an experience). Falmouth is transforming into a hugely creative place with so many great artists basing themselves here. Those artists often look for a place to change the scenery from their feverish studio spaces, so having things like beacon around to add to the existing structure is a no brainer. But with that being said it’s been all walks of life crossing the door this weekend. Everyone is welcome in this new and vibrant space and it’s going to be great to see things evolve. Well done boys and thanks for your support over the years; now it’s your turn! Happy brewing! If you need me I’ll be on one of those tables continuing to do what I do. #coffee #beaconcoffee #falmouth

Dinner and a bath - multitasking and easy cleanup! 😜Today was a long, but seriously productive day. It ended with bringing over one of the big kid’s best friends to hang out. As long as the kiddo gets his tasks accomplished, I actually enjoy having his friends over. Having lived here for a couple years now (like, how did the years go so quickly?!?), I love making plans for him to spend time w buddies. I like being the house that the kids hang out at. I like getting to know his friends and seeing the character of those he enjoys the company of. I had such a tight “barkada” growing up that it made me so sad that the kiddo hadn’t had such a tight network. Best friends are so vital to childhood. Those friends and experiences help shape them. Anyway, having a buddy over means both my kids had a fun evening. While the big kids ate dinner and chilled, gave the little boy a bubble bath and fed him dinner. I mean, he was gonna get a bath anyway. This way, there’s easy cleanup PLUS he can’t wander around avoiding his food. PLUS I drank my coffee. 😜😜 #momlife #multitasking #coffee #toddler #hapa #asian #childhood #friendship #motherhood #longhairdontcare #real

Starting my first business, juggling midterms and premed coursework all while trying to make time for family and friends as well as my health. But it all is a part of living my dreams and making them a reality. My love for coffee and serving people has become my business and I️ could not be more excited. I️ am so thankful for all of the people around me who support me and teach me so much every day about myself and the world around me, and for those I️ have yet to meet and yet to serve. Just a few more weeks until Evoke opens and I️ will be serving South Lake Union every day! So here’s to where it all began; one cup of coffee and some amazing friends. You can accomplish anything that you put your mind to. You just have to work for it and believe in yourself. Also RIP to my long blonde hair pictured above.

Let us know what you are putting on your menu this week 👇👇👇
.
.
.
☀️Rise and shine my friends: I will be starting my day with a morning elixir. This week I am drinking @bulletproof coffee with collagen protein, brain octane oil, grass fed butter (the only dairy I do) and mold free coffee. This will leave me satiated all day until about noon, thanks to the collagen protein and the healthy fats.
.
.
.
☃️Hello lunch time: This week I am making it easy. Typically I make everything from scratch but I've been eating at @momsorganicmarket and love their Naked Lunch. EVERYTHING IS PLANT BASED AND ORGANIC (and very fresh)! So I am getting two green salads with roasted tofu, assorted peppers, caramelized onions, shredded zucchini and carrots, and a base of kale. This will give me four meals that I will use for lunch so I won't have to spend much time cooking. I am going to be making my own cilantro lime dressing from @healthfulpursuit , which also happens to be keto. I think the dressing totally makes the salad so it's a must! .
.
.
🤔Sometimes I snack: If I get hungry I will either grab a handful of nuts (usually cashews) or some veggies (peppers, carrots or celery). Super easy. .
.
.
❤️Dinner is my jam: I love spending time in the kitchen after a long day. It truly helps me decompress and I just love the act of creating ❤️ So this week will I will be creating @nomnompaleo instant pot chili (hello fast and easy), @pinchofyum golden soup (baby it’s cold outside so soup yes please), and @nutritionstripped spaghetti squash and chickpea meatballs (top right photo). This will give me a good mix of plant based meals, along with some animal based meals. I also have a pot roast I will make and pair it with a side of veggies. Not every meal has to be a new recipe! Go to your old favorites. .
.
.
🙏Each recipe has a photo and the author is tagged. Just click the pic or google search recipe title and author! .

✨✨Heal the root. Plant good health (one meal at a time). And live life well! ✨✨

This has taken many years of convincing. But here I am, embarking on the typical adventure for the college girl. I am beginning a blog. I'm not sure why my life would appeal to people to read more than the other of thousands around me but some how some way you've come across this. Since you're here already, I might as well do the typical introduction. Hi friends, my name is Nykol Williamson, some call me Nyki or my team mates have always called me Nyk. I am currently a graduated high school senior. Next year I plan to attend Oklahoma Baptist University as a business administration major. I know I've chosen a major that yet again is like the most general degree to earn. But I have huge plans for that degree (blog post to come later). I am committed to the game day Cheer team at OBU and the STUNT team. Okay, now that the obvious stuff is out of the way here's me personally. I am one of the most sarcastic people I'm sure you will ever encounter. I enjoy making bad dad-like puns, drinking coffee has become a lifestyle for me, and I'm a devoted follower of Jesus Christ (more on that later also :)). I can also be added to the list of people who are completely captivated by the past. I enjoy antique shops, and thrift stores. I spend the majority of my paychecks on coffee while adventuring with my best friends Becca, Faith and Micah.

Four years ago today, a baby boy did somersaults in my belly while I hit “publish” on the first post for Coffee + Crumbs. I remember telling friends it was going to be my passion project—something I’d do in my spare time. ⠀

I had no idea what that tiny act of faith would translate to over the course of the next four years. I did not expect for this to become (what feels like) a full-time job. I did not expect the growth, the opportunities, the book deal falling out of the sky. I did not expect God to use our stories to help comfort grieving women, or to put the call of adoption on their hearts. I did not expect to find some of my best friends on this very team, nor did I expect to feel so deeply connected to readers I’ve never met.⠀

Running Coffee + Crumbs has profoundly changed me. It’s expanded my view of motherhood, stretched my empathy a thousand times over, and reminded me over and over again that it is possible to be a mother and pursue making art at the same time. ⠀

Two nights ago, we recorded a video on the topic of ‘Investing In Your Creativity’ for Exhale, our new membership for creative mothers. In the conversation, we defined investment as “an act of devoting time, effort, or energy to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result.”⠀

To date, I have poured thousands upon thousands upon thousands of hours into Coffee + Crumbs. It’s probably safe to say it’s the biggest investment I’ve made in my entire life. While those thousands of hours have not exactly translated into thousands of dollars, make no mistake: I have absolutely, undoubtedly, 100% experienced a worthwhile result. ⠀

And that is because of you.⠀

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all of you who read, listen, and support C+C both financially and/or emotionally. Four years later, this is still a passion project for me, and I am forever grateful that I get to do it.

My loveliest friend and one half of @gaafair , took me to Red Diamond - THE BESTTT COFFEE OF MY LIFE (in Bkk). ☕️🌟👏
The entrance to the cafe is a huge steel warehouse door with a tiny little sign that says “open”. Once inside you are in - what would be my Disney land - a roasting house, a cafe lab with several avant garde coffee-making contraptions and about 100 different coffee beans from all around the world. 😍
Each cup of coffee we had was so incredibly good and you could taste the TLC that went into brewing each cup - the owner is known to check the pH balance of the water every morning! Every cup comes with curated taste notes.😮✨
You can enjoy your bespoke cup of coffee in an incredible interior - cool concrete with exposed copper pipes and old school fans blowing at you while v OG hip hop plays in the background. 🎶 #perfect
A big big S/O to our beautiful friends over at @gaafair - follow and like them for all your BKK (and all over the world) coffee recommendations! They are the very best! ☕️💕
Thank you ka for all the coffee dates! 😘💖

This morning I’m enjoying some coffee at Volo Coffeehouse on Main Street in Manayunk while doing some work for @thekingdomdistrict. (Be sure to follow if you’re interested in being a part of the journey.) Every day I’m falling more and more in love with the community here. It has been exciting visiting local businesses and meeting people who’ve lived here their entire lives. They are very welcoming here and I feel God giving me favor with relationships already. I’ve been intentional with investing into small businesses here and showing my face enough to become a name and then become a friend. I have made a few already... Well, today, I’ll be working on the website for The Kingdom District and making some friends here at Volo. It’s a cool spot, you should check it out.
And if you’re in this area, and are interested to learn what’s happening at The Kingdom District, let’s schedule a time to come by. I’d love to share the vision and how you can be a part of it. (You don’t have to live here to come visit so don’t be shy, come by.) Hope you all enjoy your day and don’t forget to say:
I AM LOVED
I AM BEAUTIFUL
I AM SUPERDOPE

Over the last 30 days I’ve been in a different city traveling 20+ of those days. Although I feel so grateful for the travel and what has come with it, it’s amazing how time away from home, friends and family (and routine!!) makes you appreciate and evaluate the simplicity of your normal everyday life. 🖤
Wake up. Shower. Get ready. Coffee. Go to work. We often get comfortable, get in mindless day to day routine that doesn’t challenge us to think outside the box and go one step further because we are on autopilot. Something as simple as flight schedules, car rides, staying in different beds forces you off that track to evaluate what might need tweaks or improving. Sometimes you have to get so off track to get back on track. What in your life needs a reboot? I’ll tell you mine. Exercise. Yep— fitness studio owner with all the equipment at her fingertips. Guess what— it’s not that easy. 🖤
Sometimes we focus so much on getting the job done, kicking ass and taking names that we forget to take care of ourselves. The past 6-8 months has been very much not about me. It’s been spending every waking moment making sure this business is strong, to make sure my employees are set up for success, to make sure they are getting paid, to get two new locations off the ground. I got super off the track with my fitness but it’s ok. It’s a new beginning and I’m motivated to get going again! First step in the right direction is refocusing and resetting your individual goals. 🖤
So.... what is it that you might need to refocus on? We all have something!

Self care is such a hot topic these days. Somehow we manage to make it sound like this selfish and self indulgent luxury only the privileged get 😎 like a weekly reformer Pilates or hair dresser appointment (how dare she) 🙄 but really it’s not always about what you do, but more about what you don’t or should do 😬 I have a really bad habit of being a ‘yes’ person. I’m sure through some fear of letting people down or facing rejection I just take it all on... I struggle to say no and not just to friends and family but to those who perhaps are not deserving of my time and beyond that I struggle to say no when opportunities come my way! A catch 22, I feel like I’m doing a disservice to women, to other mothers in the grind of young children, to my girls, if I don’t take opportunities when they come my way 🤔 But quickly I’m learning that you can do anything, just not everything at once. And perhaps even when something sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime, it’s not my time 😣 For so long now I’ve felt like I’ve been running on fumes, I’ve got that tired feeling that runs so deep that a solid week of sleep couldn’t solve it 😴 yet at the same time I’m so on edge, feeling like I can never switch off or wind down 😳 Over time I’ve tried to put things in place to reverse this feeling 🙅🏼‍♀️ About a year ago I turned off notifications on all social apps, so that people couldn’t be so demanding of my time 👉🏻 I even as recently as last week decided I’d give up coffee to give my body that physical break from that “racing” feeling and ironically as this is the first weekend I’ve actually had no plans in forever, I’m as sick as a dog 🐶 it’s like my body has felt me let it relax that tiny bit for the first time in ages and it’s just given up. My whole body aches, I honestly haven’t felt this sick in ages and of course life and kids don’t stop for no sucker 🤕 It’s like that airplane safety example of fitting your own mask before you fit anyone else’s ✈️ Lately I’ve been making sure everyone else is okay, without checking in with myself that now I literally cannot breathe, like no joke I’m so congested 🙈 An annoying reminder of what self care is really about 🙄

Birth Prep. Seeing something I’ve been dreaming about for so long come to reality has been humbling. Notes and plans for a step-by-step online birth course for modern moms have been scratched on notebooks and papers of mine for over 3 years.

My to-do list is a mile long to get everything squared away for opening enrollment to Birth Prep on Monday, Labor Day of course! But I’m feeling so grateful for the encouragement and support and excitement you all have been sending my way as I’ve been sharing behind the scenes.

Grateful for JD who has taken off so many days of work to hang with the kiddos so I could escape to coffee shops and libraries and lock myself in bedrooms in silence to create the content for this course. For making those 11pm runs to the store to hunt down the random tech things I suddenly and urgently needed. And for always believing in my 110%.

Grateful for the 3 girls who came on board this Summer with Momma Society and have truly helped the logistics of this thing come together. Always so supportive and and a heart for supporting other mommas. Samantha, Natalia & Ashley—can’t thank-you enough.

Grateful for @julssolomon and the influencer academy focus group. I would still be trying to talk myself out of sharing this course with the world if it wasn’t for the summer day in Nashville when I decided it was time to say goodbye to the fears and follow my heart.

Grateful for the amazing baby and momma brands who are spoiling the moms with some of my very fav baby and pregnancy products on launch day. @mam_usa pacis & bottles @ergopouch sleeper swaddles @motherloveherb nipple cream and diaper balm @parasolco diapers, wipes and pads @mrspatels amazing lactation teas @ohlalari reusable nursing pads seriously the best of the best.

Grateful for my friends and moms in the Momma Society Facebook Group who have let me pick their brains on exactly what they wish they would have known before birth and postpartum.

I’m excited/nervous/proud and so freaking pumped for the first group of mommas to join birth prep on Monday morning when enrollment opens.

In the meantime, back to work to make sure all is perfect monday morning! ♥️

•That friendship with your spouse is something really sacred and special.
•That I love our mornings together making coffee & breakfast, and especially Wednesday mornings connecting over our “Navigators Council” (married friends, get this!!)
•Lazy Days & snugglin on the couch and just hanging out is the best!
•Our Adventures & Dreams are still endless
•There’s nothing like some Mama Cass playing in the Kitchen as we dance, laugh, & cook dinner
•How much I love creating & sharing a “Home” together
•Communication is always worth it
•Walks to the beach
•I love knowing that I’m loved, adored, & supported, and always have a teammate!
•I especially love knowing that God had You, Taylor, for me as a partner!
Just a few things that I’ve enjoyed learning about what I love about marriage over these last four really fun months. And there is plenty more!! But as yesterday was our 4 month anniversary of being married... (yes, I’m counting cause it’s just fun) I wanted to reflect & share. Especially with the hopes that this might even inspire some others to sit & reflect all the good stuff!! 🤗

I avoid making coffee until the last possible moment, knowing I will make too much and have no one to finish it. I reach for the things he loved to eat while shopping. I am still pissed that his last meal was microwaved spaghetti and meatballs from the night before.
.
I’ve been working through a grief pack of guided meditations, this week challenges me to imagine my lost loved one in a place of peace. With each inhale and exhale, I am asked to imagine him in a space of comfort, calm and happiness. For some reason, instead of the intended serenity, this triggers my mind into the chaos of finding him dead. Imagining him taking his final breath. Instead of his chest rising with new breath, I watch it stop, and fall. I struggle to remember what it was like to be at home with him. It feels far away, like a dream less clear after waking.
.
I see his likeness reflected in his friends, in his brother, in strangers. I see him in caring and compassionate men, who participate, men who anticipate the needs of others. Men who were raised by exceptional women, or treat women exceptionally. Men who love children, who remember your birthday, who smile when they give up their seat. I look for these reminders of him in everyone, every day, because I do not want the memory of his body to be stronger than the imprint of his spirit.

Everywhere you turn you see, people are commuting by bicycle, sipping coffee on outdoor patios, checking in Museums, socializing with friends over great food and wine, shopping at the many wonderful boutiques, street artists making the city come alive, lip smacking food, the crazy nightlife and absolutely amazing people.

A city so vibrant in culture, art and history built around intricate canals, breathtaking architecture, and modern technology, definitely makes you fall in love with it. ❤

the 12 days consisted of various hotels, waiting in airports, lugging bags and lots of film equipment from a to b to c to z, long days of filming and constantly problem solving when things don’t go to plan which was pretty much on a daily basis, going through steep learning curves that were challenging but am grateful for, still designing and reviewing whilst away from the office, navigating time differences, jet lag, lots of cabs and ubers, not having time for lunch and having relatively late dinners, language barriers, being thrown into the deep end of all things logistics and travel, trying new food, looking for coffee, smiling from knowing that each city i’ve been in has been my first, making new friends, and the most special thing out of the entire trip was the amazing opportunity to visit six different firms, experiencing each of their unique creative space, gaining insight to their process, thinking & approach and speaking to brilliant minds who are different but share the passion and drive for architecture — all with the genuine desire to make the world a better place through their craft. a privilege it is and with all my heart am so thankful for this opportunity.

big thanks to david/sandra/isabella at @oma.eu, caroline/jan/sander at @unstudio_architecture, brian/joao/katherine at @big_builds, wolf/markus/jan at @coophimmelblau_wolfprix, winy/sanne/boris/daan at @mvrdv, ma/tiffany/marco/tammy at @madarchitects, @mikepilmer who made magic happen and is the most prepared traveller slash videographer i know, and lastly @adz_teh & @jiahengc for having such a great vision, trusting me with this project and giving me this opportunity of a lifetime!

I’ve been quite humbled since moving to byron in many ways, but particularly since becoming friends with people who live #zerowaste lifestyles and realising how much I’ve massively overestimated my level of awareness in this area. Coming from the city, and from a “go go go” mindset, convenience has always come first. Also, lack of connection to the earth for many years didn’t allow me to truly understand in an embodied sense just how much my individual choices affected everything around me. Sure, I never used plastic bags when shopping, but holy fuck I have made up for it in other ways! Here is a list of all the plastic that I ashamedly still have in my life, despite that fact that I’d consider myself a pretty self aware and conscientious person: disposable coffee cups (when I forget my ceramic one),packaging of my favourite foods {hommus dips, bags of spinach and carrots, muesli bars, orange juice} packaging of shampoo and conditioner, makeup, packaging of takeaway (sushi etc), packaging of tampons, toilet paper, kitchen & household cleaning products)
And I am just one single human!!! Imagine families... companies! 😖The wake up call for me happened watching how consciously, gracefully and lovingly my friends @livingnaturali and @lunawoolcott lead their #zerowaste lifestyles. They are helping the planet, not hindering it as I have been.
Essentially, if there is no demand for products, they will not be produced. It’s that simple, but we humans add complexity to EVERYTHING! So let’s stop demanding plastic by not using it!
So... I am going to endeavour to go zero waste from here on in. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
My first step in helping stop my disassociative habits is by commiting to spending an hour in nature everyday (without ANY distractions). By becoming less self focused and more aware of my surroundings, I know I will stop making disconnected and headcentric, convenient decisions which affect the planet. Swimming in the ocean and connecting with all the life there, shocks me awake. How dare I harm her? How selfish. I will embrace change 💕❤️

Honestly couldn't been happier after that nerve and spill-filled Finals run. But I would never have gotten this far without the most solid team behind the scenes! So time for some thank yous:
-
My coaches, @kongsiyping and @maseffect. They say I go into this "bitchy competition mode" every year. But this year, they were equally tough and brutally honest during training and practice. With such a short time to put this routine together, they were the backbone I needed to make it happen.
-
Isn't it so cool that I get to have a cheer squad?? My baristas and fellow workmates who took time out of their way to come by during prelimins and finals! @thewatcheronthewall, @georamirez895, my coffee roaster @giapalamie and @stoshpiznarski (saranghaeyo, u guys 🤞🤞🤞), @jclandicho16, and dj @angelixgonzales (who also curated my super-cool tracks that I was able to play during finals!)
-
Everyone at @magnumopuscoffee and @each.coffee for keeping things chugging even while I was away, or practicing late, or making a mess!
-
Sir Mel and the Chemistry Department at DLSU! They lent their invaluable time and equipment to analyse my coffee and give me what I think was the coolest routine I've ever done. Because Science! Chemistry! GCMS!
-
Coffee friends, EACH and Magnum regulars, and fellow industry professionals! @mr.chrisgraham for the bottlecapper! @ellebattung for my amazing visual illustrations. The well-wishes, congratulations, pats on the back - even the "ok lang yans" were tiny little confidence boosters that kept me from losing my **** hahaha!
-
The judges who executed one of the most orderly local competition setups I've seen, especially given the situation and venue constraints! And of course, your scoresheets are how I learn how to be a better coffee professional year after year.
-
And lastly, my coaches again. I cannot thank them enough. It was Kiks and Miguel who did the bulk of the work, from each pre-routine preps, to post-run gear management. I just said some stuff onstage and made some coffee and made a mess.
-
Thank you, all. I now realise I have PNBC 3rd, 4th, and 5th Place trophies. Maybe we aim slightly higher next year?✌️✌️✌️

I’m making coffee right now, literally waiting for water to boil. It’s snowing outside. My feet are a bit cold. I’m leaving today. It’s the end of my season in British Columbia. It’s snowing outside. My feet are a bit cold. I’m leaving today. It’s the end of my season in British Columbia. I don’t feel ready, but I feel like it’s time.
Before I loaded up the truck and drove out of NYC, I told @brandongweber that I wanted to find a place where I could “chop wood and think deep thoughts”. I pictured a cabin near great skiing, and 15 minutes or so from a small grocery store and local watering hole. It was meant to sound tongue in cheek to anyone overhearing us, but he knew I was serious.
I spent the last month at Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch. It’s 15 minutes outside of Golden BC and 30 minutes from Kicking Horse, which might be the best resort skiing in North America. Golden isn’t (yet) overrun with condo-building carpet baggers and heli skiing jocks more interested in their daily vert than the scenery. The ranch is owned by a singing cowboy named Leo. He doesn’t know how to cook but can butcher a buffalo, build a barn, and survive a winter in the woods with only a few basic tools.
I was going to say “it‘s the place I was looking for”, but that implies that this vision I had - this place - could ever be satisfied by checklist of attributes. It’s the people that make the place. It always has been. Ands this place turned out to be more wonderful than I could’ve conceived on my own.
It’s hard to leave. I’m not entirely ready. But I’ve found its better to leave somewhere wanting more, not quite satiated, than to leave with a full belly. It means I’ll be back.
Huge thank you to Leo, Matt, Moa, Matilda, Chester Jr, and the mountains for making me feel so welcome. If home is where we find our friends and family, then the ranch is the home I was looking for. ❤️ #leodowney #goldenbc #canada #adventure #travel #friends

Imagine gooey caramel, a hint of sea salt, a soft sweet popcorn crunch, milk chocolate chunks and pretzel pops. All together in a cookie-esque crumble. Too good.
.
Currently wandering around campus after a ridiculously early gym sesh (I woke up at 6.30AM I am actually proud of myself). Cheers to @bomuffin for making me go 😂 I might’ve given up otherwise
.
I haven’t been Instagramming as much this past year. In some ways that’s a shame, but in other ways I feel have the balance right now ( #balancednotclean lol). I’ve been focusing on offline things way more. I have three jobs (potentially four soon), I’m a chair of the Loughborough Students’ Union cooking society (come join our food parties!), gym regularly, go out regularly, do my course and otherwise am trying to experience uni to the full. Last night I went to an open mic event which was sick. There’s no way I would’ve had the opportunity to do that if I wasn’t here.
.
So, it’s kind of a shame I’m not posting as much, but equally it’s all for the right reasons. I’ve got my personal training qualification coming up in September, and I still have all my intention to develop my knowledge so I can be an effective coach and trainer. I want my own gyms. I want my own fast food restaurants. I want to be self employed. For now, though, I’m getting what’s required in terms of my education whilst making most of the extra curricular opportunities available, including having my uni friends as practice clients 😉. Coffee is sometimes the only thing keeping me going, but for the most part it’s a blast 😊⭐️

To all who cheered for me, showed up just because it was me, picked me up when I was down (Crystal, just for this I wish you were on Instagram...), wrote me little notes for me to find after my class, brought me coffee, listened, packed my boxes, walked my dogs when we had the flu, reminded me that I’m not the lonely rider I sometimes feel I am. I was looking at old photos and it hit me that soon, it will mark my 10th year here. Overcoming my fear of something so foreign to me, I was tested in so many levels. Ignorance and arrogance by some almost broke me down. I depended on the 11 hrs difference as my support system, always with a smile and their weird stories trying to lift me up. Today, as I sat down with my coffee, I realized how it all changed so rapidly. I observed every person that helped me out here and I watched people tried to bring me down. I know who is fake and who is damn right honest. After all the challenges I faced and to the incoming bullets I have to dodge, I want to thank you Buenos Aires, for making me wiser, turning me into the most clueless mother ever lived, for giving me the chance to meet some really wonderful ppl whom I can call friends (go tigers!) and making me one tough cookie. You are my home now. #butistillhaveanasiantummy

Dear My MM4-1 Family Batch 2018,

I'm counting down the days until I leave for college, I couldn't be more excited for the fresh start and the new beginnings that I am going to face, but the one thing that's making me less excited as I should be is leaving the people I've spent my entire 4years with behind. I guess it scares me to say goodbye to you all, it scares me a lot. I am more than happy for all of us to start this new chapter of our lives, I think we all need this. I know this isn't goodbye because a goodbye is too long, and to final of a word to say to you all. I have been preparing myself this days to enjoy every single moment I have spent with you guys because I knew that within a month moments like these were going to be so out of reach, like miles away out of reach. "When it is time for you to venture out, don't let fear have you looking back at what you're leaving behind, because there is a secret that only real friends know, and it is this, "All the mountains and valleys in the world cannot separate friends whose hearts are as one." So to my dearest friends that I have grown to love and appreciate more and more over the times and memories we have made, I am just as scared to say goodbye to you as you are to me. Leaving is scary, especially when you have the fear of becoming replaced with a new best friend, and a new friend group as we all go off and do our own thing, but I know that no matter how many new friends I make over the few years at college, I will never ever forget the people who made me realize who and what a friend even meant. You guys have shown me the meaning of friendship and I know that because you are the people you are, you will always hold a place in my heart, whether years from now we're still meeting up for coffee as we return home to catch up, thank you for the memories, thank you for the life lessons and more importantly thank you for being a friend to me. I will miss you all dearly, more than you all will ever know. Don't forget me.

Sincerely, a friend whose not to ready to leave you all behind yet

I just wanted to thanks all my friends and family for keepin my head above water these last six months. I could not have made it though all the struggles with out your kindness and generosity. Thanks for the shoulder to cry on, the long nights at the bar listening, letting me sleep on your couch, sending me care packages and special notes, sharing your stories, and for the phone calls and playlists, for making me laugh or sending me memes, for helping me move my stuff and then move it again, for letting me barrow the truck, for all your hugs and cigarettes, for making me dinner, for bringing a funty, for the cup of coffee, for buying us hats, and for making me feel loved. #thingswillworkout

We've shared a lot of big, photo-op things this year--roadtrips, wedding celebrations, festive adventures. But there's been even more little things... like sushi dinners, Netflix marathons, late nights and early mornings, and opposite schedules. Keeping old traditions and making new ones. Serving at church and in friendships and babysitting and making meals. Making extra coffee in the morning. Decorating and redecorating, killing spiders and mice (🤢😷), and putting up with a mess of a house during a crazy week and my incessant quoting while watching Friends. Baking until the oven almost dies and letting each other lick the spatula. Costco runs and lab homework and finding a place to store a year's supply of toilet paper and paper towels. Daily fights to be faithful, to trust that God is working, and pursue his good in our lives, whatever it may look like.

How grateful I am that we see each other's little things and that you encourage me in mine.

Cooper Kean. You are my shelter. You are my home. You are my best friend, you are my family, you are my soulmate. In my mind you are smiling, pure, running free on the Grant elementary playscape chasing our clan of best friends around at 4 years old. In my mind you are staring at the meteor shower northern Michigan sky, 11 years old pointing to constellations as you held mine and Alexia's hand, whispering the wonders of the Universe like a prayer. In my mind the morning sunlight is seeping onto the plants you call friends, you are making me my coffee just how I like it, you are finally 21 so naturally we're hungover and you have bedhead and dried drool on your face and you catch me watching you and smile in a way you had just for me. In my mind, you are kicking rocks in the distance, the glow of the street light illuminating your 15-year old rugged figure as you skip towards me in the spooky hours of the night where it feels like the whole world is asleep; we've snuck out for the millionth time this summer, young rascals high off of rebellion, younghood, and each other, you piggy-back me to my second home, your house, because you'd never let my feet get tired if you could help it. In my mind, my legs are intertwined with Cj's and Garrett's and my arms are wrapped around Breanna and McKenzie as you build the fort around us to perfection (as usual) fluffing the pillows and making sure we each have a blanket-we're 18 in your basement and I see you've hung up the "believe in yourself" unicorn poster I got you as a "thank you for always taking care of me" present. You are giggling your famous "he he heee" giggle and showing us our video cassette movie options. Most likely Lion King, Forrest Gump, or Mulan. I am the last one awake, and the sound of all of our breathing together healed us as a lullaby. In my mind, you are jumping up and down relentlessly on a pogo-stick, howling to the void with innocent 9 year old laughter. I already miss the way our laughs sound together. In my mind, it's a few weeks ago and you are tucking my hair behind my ear. This is the last time I will ever hold you. What I failed to realize is you held on as tightly as I held onto you.

Finally we have visited the place❤️ There were many things to discuss and we did it. Constantly talking, we didn't even notice the time passing. Oh, I wish there were more such nice, friendly, pleasurable evenings with friends. But probably if we had ones, we wouldn't appreciate them back then, as we value them now, at the very evening, at this very life. No? I don't know, and I guess no one knows. I like it right now, I feel the happiest person, and agree with words, that people make our life, not houses, cars and money generally.
Eternally thank you for making me feel this life, its taste.

Happy Friday, my friends! In the spirit of November and cultivating gratitude and thanks, here are three things I’m grateful for today.
__
🎈 I’m grateful for how much fun the Indianapolis @nanowrimo region is. (Swipe for a few NaNoWeen photos, including our mascot, Moe.) I’m thankful for the way our writers come together, have fun, and make November a great time for community. And I’m grateful we have @rachellewood13 as one of our MLs to gather us together and make NaNo more fun for all of us!
_
🍁 I’m grateful for the beautiful colored leaves and crisp air that are here! Fall is my favorite season for many reasons. Sitting outside for two client calls today was just what I needed, and driving by orange and red and yellow trees anytime I leave the house is making me feel happy and alive.
_
👩🏻‍💻 I’m especially grateful today for my job as a virtual assistant. I get to use my gifts to help people breathe easier and bring more freedom into their businesses and in turn, their lives. I get to work from my front porch, my desk, my couch, my favorite coffee shops and any travel destination I may find myself in. I get to use my admin skills and my creativity. I have the flexibility I need to live my life well. And I’m so, so grateful for it.

🍂✨What are YOU grateful for today? Are you taking time to practice gratitude in some way this month? ✨🍂

Nan I miss you always but I miss you most on those significant days. 6 years ago yesterday at 10:40am you left this world! I want to keep the memories of you strong because you were always always there for me and my bestest of friends until the end.
I remember
-you and pap coming to every concert I was ever in with flowers ready
-our regular coffee dAtes, you visiting me at work and having donuts every time -staying at your house every week after school - making me 3 course meals always with all the cutlery set out like queens. - I remember the feeling of holding your precious crinkly loving hand and kissing your cheek
-the way pappa loves you and got you breakfast in bed like I do now ha (w married well)
-your Lolly stash!!!
-pavlovas, sponges (except I didn’t like them sorry but didn’t tell you ha), and baking delights -your smile
-your blunt attitude (my hero)
-your humour and wit -your love for all family
-your friendship and never ending love!

I bet you’re enjoying heaven x

Like an old man, I woke up well before the sunrise this morning, even though I had one of those hangovers that hurt more than they used to from celebrating last night. My favorite time of any day, watching the darkest part of night give way to all of the the pinks and oranges and in between of the sun making its way up, so still and quiet out here and usually in cooler temperatures, unreal every time. Katy woke up early too, not long after me, both of us wondering how the hell we'd both done that, and how the hell we got so lucky to have each other and be in this beautiful place. Before the sun rose, we made our way back into bed to grab just a little more sleep before starting our day. We woke again, and as I sat on the porch catching up on email and photos from last night in my birthday suit - it IS my birthday after all - she was in the kitchen making me this killer breakfast of coconut and M&M pancakes and bacon with Vermont maple syrup, fresh Spokesman coffee that my friends Nathan and Aspen brought us, and one of the last OG Hans' Pils on the planet, from the Tim Schwartz collection. Dazy was so, so jealous. Now I'm slowly making my way through today, reading birthday texts and posts and loving you all, loving my wife and our life, and enjoying the absolute silliness that is our Lazy Dazy dog, and this beautiful desert we call home. #thisis44 #loveinthedesert #birthdayvibes #44

Part 50 - Paper Houses
Y/n stirs the coffee in front of her, lazily waiting for her son to finish his lesson. She hears someone clears their throat making her move her eyes up lazily, only to see Niall standing in front of her, with his hands on his hips and his lips forms a playful smile. "I hate myself." She mumbles to herself making him laughs. He takes a seat next to her and she covers her face embarassed of being caught in a lie. "Hmm," Niall stretches his neck. "Where's your grocery? In your car-" "Okay! Okay. You've got me!" She groans. "I just didn't feel like talking." She sighs. "That's okay." He shrugs. "Let's just not talk then." He says reaching out for her hand. They sit still like that for a while before Niall clears his throat. "I heard Beth's birthday coming up soon." He mentions. She slowly nods. "He invited me to stay over." Her eyes flickers up to him. "Really?" She asks. "Yeah!" He says. "I've looked up when his birthday is because, well because I'm his teacher so I can do that." He shrugs. "It's two days after mine. We can celebrate together." He suggests. Y/n nods at the idea. "That sounds fun. Sure." She says. "We can have it at home on the 14th maybe, right in the middle. And you can have some of your friends over and maybe I can invite my parents. I know Beth missed them." She suggests. Niall smiles at the way she's so excited about this whole thing. "Or maybe not. I don't know. Maybe having my parents there would be awkward anyways. You decide-" "No," He shakes his head. "I love it. And I'd love to meet your parents. Let's do it." He nods. "We can get the decorations now. That way you won't be lying on groceries-" "Oh my god." Y/n mumbles making him laugh. "Let it go-" "No." "I hate you." Niall looks at her softly chuckling. "I-" "Okay," Y/n cuts him off. "Let's go get those things."

One year ago I started making good decisions.  It’s been challenging, hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been rewarding. I switched up a lot of my habits and decided to spend the last year of my life intentionally single. GO ME!  I desperately needed answers to some internal confusion that had been plaguing me for years. Here’s what I’ve learned: 1.If you run away from problems, they eventually catch up. Face that sh*t. 2.An unhealed past creates a future of chaos. 3.Drink at least a gallon of water a day. It’s MAGIC. 4.The way your parents raised you matters more than you know. And they’ve all messed up at some point. 5.Feel the pain. Grieve the loss. That’s the only way to move on in a healthy way. 6.Drink good coffee. Starbucks is not real coffee. 7.Affirming people is better than gossip. 8.The right thing is usually 99% harder to do than the wrong thing 9.Self-care is invaluable. It is NOT selfish. 10.Peace of mind = real success 11.Daily meditation has drastically changed my life 12.Feelings are for feeling, not fixing.
13.Everyone should give counseling a real shot. 14.Lots of people tell partial truths. It’s sad. Hold on to genuinely honest people. 15.I’m a fan of the chiropractor. 16.Doing the right thing always wins in the end, even when it hurts in the beginning. 17.Whole truths and full-transparency bring peace of mind beyond what most people know.18.Sometimes it can be really challenging to be honest with yourself. 19. Discipline is good for you. 20.Waking up early is better than sleeping in. 21.People matter. 22.Money is cool for about nine minutes. 23. good friends are GOLD. 24. Prayer works. When God says “no” it’s probably in your best interest, long term. You’ll thank him later. 25. intermittent fasting FTW! 26.You can’t change people. 27.You can’t control people.28.If I were the captain of my own ship, I’d be there by now. 29.Pride is real. Life it’s better when pride is killed off. 30.Everyone should workout daily. Except Sunday. Big fact 31.Greatness takes time.33.Most people are lazy and make excuses. Hold on to those who sharpen you. 34. I want some real coffee now. Ok. Cool. Bye! #oneyear #i #love #life #thanks #hashtag

For many years of my life, I strived for perfection. The perfect home. The perfect family. The perfect kids. The perfect friends. The perfect me. Somewhere along the way I realized I was emotionally sabotaging myself over something that was impossible to obtain. Impossible. It didn’t matter what I did, owned, how much money I made, who I was friends with, I was never going to find the perfect I was trying to live up to. Why? Because perfection is not reality. Perfection doesn’t exist. It simply doesn’t.
Letting go of the unnecessary pressure I placed on myself changed my life. I traded perfection for real and opened my eyes to what really matters. The truth is I need to clean my sink, y’all. Honestly, I’ve needed to clean it for a few days. Life’s little moments have the best of me... in a really good way! Instead of stressing about a dirty sink, I took my boys + their friends to opening night of Solo (loved it!). Instead of scrubbing my sink, I sat on my front porch sipped an iced coffee and read a chapter in a book I’ve been craving to read. Instead of worrying about my dirty sink, I went to the gym and focused on my health. Instead of cleaning my dirty sink, I had an impromptu kitchen dance party with my boys right next to the sink and didn’t even give it a second glance.
Maybe tomorrow I’ll clean my sink... or maybe I won’t. Instead of chasing the dangling carrot of perfection I’m content in the comfort of perfectly imperfect. My sink isn’t going anywhere but the moment to make a memory with a loved one will pass me by if I don’t seize it.
Wishing you a blessed and beautiful memory making Saturday, dear hearts!

These days, I am learning to hold sadness + JOY but most of all HOPE, simultaneously. I went on my morning walk on Friday and as I was walking, the Lord asked me to TAKE NOTE OF THE GOOD and so I did that.
Allow me to explain:
1/10 My mom. Forever working in the kitchen serving; always making sure it's perfect. She always gives and lets me know how much she adores me.
2/10: My dad. And yes, that mustache is older than me. He taught me everything I know about working hard. See that picnic table? He made it just for me!
3/10: My boys. My mighty men of God. I have the sweetest homemade cards (my favorite) with words like, "I'm so glad you're my mom" and "I love you so much!" 😭😭
4/10: My Zoey girl. She drew me a picture of an elephant and please note her king fu grip on me.
5/10: Mikey, my only brother. He earned his Brother of the Year title! He contacted several of my friends and family and asked them to send me special birthday messages. Woke up at 4:30 Sunday morning so excited to show it to me almost 8 hours later. If you want to see it, check out YouTube WOW 40 YESSS.
6/10: Bri. She's glad I'm the sister she never had and I feel the same about her. And Zoey and Jonesy boy belong to her. Best gifts to Auntie!
7/10: Heather. She taught me how to be a friend. They say you become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. What a privilege! She made me a personalized book of Scriptures; one for each week of my 40th year. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
8/10: Val. My sista cousin! This girl came out of cupcake retirement and made my favorite salted caramel for my party yesterday! You inspire me and I admire you so much!
9/10: Bry. My favorite. We spent the morning drinking coffee and talking about the things of the Lord. At dinner tonight I told him how that was my favorite part of my entire day. I let him know how awesome it is to be married to my very best friend. He's my dream come true.
10/10: Auntie Auntie's big girl! A memory I never want to forget!
❤️❤️❤️: THANK YOU x a million for all my sweet friends and family who sent gifts, made calls to me, made videos and sent text messages to me today.
I am forever grateful. Love y'all! 😘7.30.18

Here we go. I haven’t eaten any meat for 6 years, and then one day recently - out of nowhere - I started craving steak. Nothing else. Just steak. Couldn’t argue with it. I haven’t eaten any meat for 6 years, and then one day recently - out of nowhere - I started craving steak. Nothing else. Just steak. Couldn’t argue with it. Tried to question it or reason with it. But there it was. Steak, it said.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s kinda ironic how I’ve written two books on making peace with food and helped so many women to do this, and STILL I know that posting this will invite some people to shame me, and tell I don’t give a shit about animals, or the planet, or that I’m “promoting cruelty”, by sharing this - and it’s okay. I forgive you already, I get it. If you want to shame me, I get it. (I used to do that to people too, btw. It made me feel more justified in my own choices around food I’ll admit. But shaming others didn’t really feel that great for me to do if I’m honest, or really have the effect I wanted it to either)
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This post is dedicated to all my friends who went vegan or plant based, declared it to everyone on their channels, and then later on, changed their mind but felt too scared to admit it for fear of being shamed. (I know plenty of peeps who this applies to, and I’ll take one for the team)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s a shame we live in a world where people feel it’s okay to do this. Food shaming is really no different to body shaming. I love my vegan friends, I love my flexitarian friends, and I love my omnivore friends. I’m a girl who will walk 30 mins across a new city to find somewhere that will serve me almond milk so I don’t have to drink cow’s milk in my coffee - but then I’ll enjoy cheese on my pizza later that night. I’m eating steak again, but my body is still saying “absolutely not” to every other kind of meat. I’m a human. It’s not black or white. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I guess I just want to remind everyone that it’s food, not religion - and we’re allowed to change our mind without being judged. You don’t need to have a label for your food or diet in order to complete your identity. Our bodies have a wisdom and I will always do my best to tune in to mine, and hope you do the same. ❤️ 💫💫💫
.
P.S - it was amazing 🤤

🥁 “My biggest inspiration comes from the ever changing industry we are in. I am always trying to figure out what is coming next as far as new techniques or tools. Coffee is so different now to what it was just 5 years ago. I get really excited thinking about what we will be doing in another 5...”

I may have returned to London a broken women, dragging a broken suitcase, with my sand filled broken converse squelching in the rain, but man oh man, what a week of wonderfulness.
.
People question why I return to that magical island year after year, but for me it would be impossible not to. The people, the vibes...the coffee's laced with condensed milk... reading all of the posts from this years attendees it is clear that we have all returned home with full hearts and inspired minds. Let me tell you, that's no one hit wonder feeling...after year four of Wolves I feel exactly the same. .
The Wolf family is special, genuine and full of love and thanks to @pablobeglez and the Wolves staff we've all got that special place to call home each November.
.
Thank you to the speakers for making my mind whirl with ideas and ways to better my photography. And thank you to all the Wolves for the friendship, the german lessons, the late night salsa dancing and the huji enlightenment.
.
Thank you for your lives!

It took saying YES to several strange things to eventually meet these two furry friends, which would bring me to stay and care for them this week.
In a city I shy away from.
Nashville.

After staying in and looking at the city from a distance on their balcony, I went out.
I had overpriced hipster coffee.
And friendly casual coffee.
I went on a date.
I sat with an old friend.
I had dinner at Butchertown Hall with Franklin friends.
And dinner at Butchertown Hall alone and made new Nashville friends.
I walked on brick paved sidewalks lit by city lights.
I watched a connection between strangers develop.
A number boldly asked for.
A number shyly given.
Smiles wide.
Cheeks blushed.
Drinks sipped.
Strangers turned into friends.
Servers called by name.
Opposites seeing the beauty in one another.
Compliments instead of judgements.
Humans showing kindness without knowing each other’s last names or what they do for a living.
People making each other laugh on a Wednesday night.
In the city of music.
In Nashville.

I saw a different side of this city this week.
And a different side of myself.
It took a couple of furry friends and a few strangers to help create a shift in my perspective.
In this place so many are drawn to like moths to a light.
Packed full of big dreams.
Creative energy around every corner.

Life is a comedy.
A story that’s constantly unfolding and YOU are the main character.
You make it as exciting as you dare it to be!
So let’s get our clothes messy because we loved on a stranger’s dog.
Let’s sit somewhere new.
Make eye contact.
Smile.
Wave.
Say hi.

Let’s hear each other’s stories and be moved and inspired by them.
Let’s laugh so hard we snort.
In public.
On a Wednesday night.
In Nashville.

This photo sums up my time with these two jealous lovers. (“Put her down, she’s my human!!”) *
Maybe you’ll meet a stranger tomorrow who becomes a friend.
Who has a dog that you get to pet.
And shares a story that you need to hear.
All because you said yes to something strange.
And decided to look up.
And make eye contact.

The latest selfies are not worth sharing as you have to count layers of our black under eyes which we both won’t appreciate. But we’ll get back to beauty norm soon! Promised!
Here’s the story. I met @yulienick ending year 2013 via Instagram. Yes. No kidding.
I recently moved to Antwerp. She was in Amsterdam. We set up a date due to my upcoming trip their. She promised me a bike and a nice ride through the city. Her second bike was stolen that day (bc of her casually leaving key in the lock) and the weather wasn’t friendly. Well, what do you expect in Amsterdam in the middle of December 🤔
We ended up hopping from one coffee place to another, while passing by @chocolatlnl.
She was so crazy, chatty, loud, outgoing, that I thought “never again I’m going to meet you, lady!”, while she decided I was supposed to be her best friend.
And here we are in 2018. Best friends for 5 years and counting. Me, moving from Belgium to the Czech Rep and then Germany, but still going back to Ams at any possible occasion. Her, visiting me in Prague and me handling her coffee obsession together with 6h long coffee class with @gwilymbarista.
Us, painting the walls in her new flat and fixing furniture for Sonya.
Her, adjusting for me a perfect home office in her house.
Her, making @nenad_j_ to drive extra 150km on their 18h drive to Slovenia to pick me up in another country just because his wife forgot where I live (she still remains one of my best friends!). Me, buying them vegan friendly food (very challenging) in German supermarket 10 min before closing.
Us, hugging and chatting for 20 minutes in the midnight another day on their drive back.
It’s our friendship. Its messy, inconsistent and illogical. It’s real and beautiful. And it’s all I need from this amazing woman @yulienick.
If you don’t know yet, she’s about to open @coffeesometime_ very soon in Amsterdam and sooner around Europe. Go and check it once you’re there.
I remember her talking about coffee with so much passion back in December 2013.
She has even more passion by now for it. Trust me, I know that very well.

In deciding upon a picture to post for Thanksgiving, I encountered an issue. I wanted my picture to symbolize the essence of what I am grateful for. I was unable to find a picture that could accomplish this, but still, here is a short list of all that I am grateful for:
I am grateful for my family and friends who have taught me more than they will ever know just in being the people that they are. To those surrounding me, thank you for being my support system, and thank you for making me better. I love and appreciate each and every one of you. I promise you that.
I am grateful for every experience that I have ever had, because those experiences, good or bad, have created me.
I am grateful to live in a country with limitless opportunity, where there is always the prospect of a better tomorrow. And I am grateful for being able to say that at all.
I am grateful for the men and women who have paved the way before me and have created a world where impossibility does not exist.
I am grateful for books, music, and ultimately, art - defined as the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination. Because, without that, I don’t know who we would all be.
I am grateful for the challenging times as they have and will continue to grant me the opportunity to grow. And, through those challenging times, I am made grateful for the good times too.
Above all, I am grateful for love, I am grateful for hope, and I am grateful for potential.
I was unable to find a picture that expressed all of those items. So, instead, here’s a picture of some coffee, because I am quite grateful for that as well.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Not only incredible hairdressers but amazing friends. Over two years of crazy ups and downs these guys put up with me pretty much every day. Thank you for listening to me about everything, laughing at my stupid jokes, picking up the pieces when the day has been too stressful, getting me coffee when I don’t have time myself, filling my phone with sexy selfies and hilarious videos when I leave my phone unattended on the back table but most importantly thank you for making every day so much easier and enjoyable. It won’t be the same going to work without you guys. Love you forever and always my birdie gals💕💇🏼‍♀️😘

This is @chris.904. A year ago I started playing a video game 🎮 called OVERWATCH...lol not where you thought this was going. Anyways, I bought this video game & started playing it by myself. It’s a multiplayer game & you get grouped up with random people all over the world 🌎.

One day, I got into a match and had a kid on my team who was making me laugh hysterically. We became friends on PS4 & started playing together. We had no physical ties, no mutual friends in life, but we found out we lived a couple hours apart.
-
Today, Chris came into Orlando & we finally got to meet in person. Grabbed some FIRE breakfast from @thebriarpatchrestaurant & coffee ☕️in an ice cream cone🍦at @foxtailsfarmhouse. It’s crazy that friendships can start in the most unique places & situations if you’re open and willing. Especially over a video game, where you only get to know their personality...,no face to see, no style to judge & no clique to separate. I talk to this kid every week & I’m glad to call him my good friend. #BleachBoys

Here on Instagram and on my blog, Something Pretty, you'll find the ways I blend my feminine personal style with my day-to-day life of playing with a busy toddler, reflections on marriage and motherhood, snaps of the moments and places that bring me joy, and the ways I strive to live liturgically. The 7th of Feb 2018 was a evening that will stay in my memory for a loooooong time.
@hungryforhalaal invited myself a few friends to try out @thebutcherswifesa new menu.
Thank goodness we were served by the restaurant, otherwise I would have been totally lost with what to order because of the variety of tasty foods they have on offer!
We were presented with starters, pastas (the pesto one was amazing), pizza's, ribs, chops, steaks and desserts.
I had their pizza's before and is always good, but loving my meats (protein of course), the ribs, chops and steaks was definitely a highlight for me.
What impressed me too is that if you want a healthier side other than chips, there is salads and sweet potatoe chips to go for as well.
I am not a fussy eater but I believe if you pay good money, you should get good food.
This is a reason their meats stood out for me.
The ribs were succulent, VERY meaty, smokey and flavourful. Hardly any fat and not drowned in sauce which ends up making me feel like I need a detox.
We didn't have to tell the owner how we wanted our steaks.
It was a perfect melt in the mouth experience, which he explained to us afterwards how much time he spent mastering the craft.
Having a sweet tooth, I put in two training sessions that day as I knew I was not going to miss their desserts after hearing earlier what was going to be available.
My favourite was the Churros with chocolate sauce and the chocolate spring rolls!! It is an absolute luxury being able to find a place like this with exceptional food close to me in the southern suburbs.
BUT.....2 words of advice!
1. Go early, or book! Whenever I pass @thebutcherswifesa it's always buzzing!! 2. Go HUNGRY!! Believe me, you would want to try everything on their menu!! #InstaFood #InstaFun #Steaks #Ribs #Churros #Pizzas #Yum #CapeTown

No kids, no hubby, no friends, no work. Just me. I walked State Street, went window shopping and had lunch at @thehoneybkitchen. The highlight of my day was going into the Seven Hills Turkish Import store. While I was browsing (and drooling over expensive throw pillows and hanging lights), the shopkeeper said he was making some Turkish coffee and asked if I’d like a cup. Normally, I would have said no, but today, I said yes. Hazim treated me to a delightful cup of traditionally made coffee and an assortment of Turkish Delight. We talked about Turkey and the current conflicts there, traveling, kids & parenting, textiles & rugs. He and his business partner are hoping to open a Turkish Coffee & Delights shop next year. I don’t know exactly how much time passed, but sitting there on the richly woven couch, sipping coffee, and taking in all the beautiful imports around me, I was so glad I said yes today. #santabarbara #touristfortheday #sayyes #coffeewithastranger #turkishcoffee #turkishdelight #adayforme #sevenhillsturkishimports
