Ignore the old photo, but I’m posting to give an update on how well I’m doing in the class for mostly family and close friends. Currently, I have almost a 90% in the class. So I’m doing extremely well in school. Also, I don’t plan on just getting my EMT certification. I’m going to continue with school and go for my Medic. Been posting a lot lately so this might be my last post for awhile. But just giving an update on school.

He became a emt/firefighter for the St.louis Fire Department. When he was coming up on his 20 years of being in the fire department and also my senior year in high school. He was diagnoised with cns vasculitis. (Inflammation of the blood vessels in the brain.) After he was diagnosed, he couldn't talk, eat solid foods, paralyzed on the right side.” This first picture is him and his wife before his diagnosis, and the second is afterward,”The man in the chair is my father after the accident surrouned by his sisters, wife, brother in law and nephew. He lost over 85 lbs when he was diagnoised.” Can we get a ton of support for this wonderful man and his family!

3) which went really well (after those 37 unexpected complications) and made us happy as usual. Happy and really exhausted.
Not sure why I thought I can jump back to my usual life pace after all the hell (sorry, but that’s what it was sometimes) called finishing medical school.
Time to slow down. My mind deserves some post-state exam rehab💆🏻‍♀️.
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧.
Zpomalit. Odpočinout. Hlava požaduje nějakou postátnicovou rekonvalescenci💆🏻‍♀️.

Flashback to almost a year ago, when I had a Tampa Fire Captain ask me if I'd finished fire school yet. "No. I hadn't planned on it. Going to medic next summer." And in a matter of minutes, he'd planted a seed. I spoke to my then-partner who'd just gone through the academy and was looking for a job. "Is it true you can't get hired at a fire-rescue station as just a paramedic?" He confirmed that, and I pulled out my phone to text my EMT instructor (who is also a fire Captain) to ask his advice. Two days later him and I had a long conversation about my choices. That was a Thursday. The following day I drove out to Ridge Fire Academy and asked about the shift class in January. "Oh, it's been pushed up to October. Here's the sign-up sheet." That meant I only had about a month and a half to prepare for the entrance physical test. I was shaking. I felt like Ariel at the end of 'Poor, Unfortunate Souls', shutting her eyes while signing a contract. September 26, 2016: First day of class, and what would ultimately be one hell of a journey. I originally went in to get my cert so I could get hired at a fire-rescue. I didn't think I'd be strong enough for the obstacles ahead of me. I also didn't know I'd love what I'd gotten into. Flash forward to now: Well, I was wrong. I was strong enough. Not without hardships though. Not without struggles, frustration, feeling like you're gonna pass out cos you didn't hydrate enough last night. Literal blood, sweat, and tears. I couldn't be happier with my choice. I couldn't be more excited to get hired at a station and be a firefighter. I always knew I was an adrenaline junkie; dunno why I had never thought of this.
This is only the beginning.

They were set up by his commander. She worked after graduating high school to pay for her wedding dress. He took Labor Day off from the Army for the wedding, cost less than $200 if I remember the story right. Then, he shipped off to Vietnam, for war. 82nd Airborne Ranger, 1st Calvary Div, helicopter pilot, medic, married man with a new wife at home. He made it back with their wedding china, made in Vietnam. They picked it out by sending letters back and forth, planning a future together in those letters when one wasn't promised. She married my daddy telling him she would go where he went and support his military career. These are the loving, spirited humans I am so lucky to call my parents. He's a Q she's a Delta... those that know, know. They ski, hunt, travel, ride Harley's. Never heard them yell at each other. We call daddy Mr. Rogers. My mom cursed maybe twice (although I secretly think she had sailor mouth away from us kids😂🤣🤣). Many medical degrees and legal degrees obtained all while raising kids. My daddy even saved my mommy's life. Retired, opened a radiology business, then retired again. And now, they are really retired (🤞🏽) and falling deeper in love day by day. I don't just type it, I hear it every time we talk. It's sickening lol. A farm boy from Elloree, SC. A city girl not far removed from the farm reppin' Fayetteville, NC. My parents. Happy 47th anniversary, y'all. Posting this 2 days late cuz I figure y'all can see straight now🤣😂😂🤣. Forget about how you raised me, I wanna thank you for showing me what love and dedication looks like my entire life. Have another drank on me, cuz I know you're stalking me from vacation.😘 #ioversharecuzicare

The first photo in this HSM-themed slideshow was taken on the first day of my summer internship in 2012. Since then, I've poured myself into learning as much as possible from this ministry I call home, taking lessons from different roles and mistakes and team members and generations of students. I've worked with incredible people. I've made some of my best memories. I've been surrounded by high schoolers who taught me more than they will ever know. And now, I am beginning a new adventure!

I'm leaving my position at HSM, a job that I love with all my heart, and pursuing my dream of being a writer and editor! This is a step towards a career I've longed for since I was in junior high.

I've always known that I see the world through the lens of words. Now, it's time to dust my calling off the shelf and turn to the next chapter. I will be working as the Managing Editor for a marketing company, pointing out typos to people who actually want to hear it 😉 I can't wait. This is who God made me to be and it feels exciting and terrifying to be taking the leap into my career as a writer, armed with all that I was taught at HSM. God has guided each of my steps so far and I trust him with what's ahead!

HSM students, I adore you. I will never forget this chapter of my life. I won't forget dancing to He Is Alive or hosting the B-Stage every summer or watching you make big decisions in your faith or learning new dance crazes or being at Bagels & Bibles or preparing messages or watching you Own the Weekend or matching you up with a Life Group or interviewing Medic Mike for the first time and hearing The Chipper Story™ or seeing tears stream down your face as you share your heart. You all have changed my life forever and I can't wait to watch you all chase your callings, too!

It's been the wildest, most challenging, and most meaningful 3.5 years. Thank you, High School Ministry ❤️

Repost from @tifferz_87 @TopRankRepost #TopRankRepost It’s always a humbling experience to be able to help those who truly need it. I’ve learned that from being a medic in the Air Force and even more so now through nursing. I was not only put on this earth to serve God, but to serve his children in need too and I’ve been blessed enough to be able to do just that through nursing. This is my final year of nursing school (Hallelujah!) and what better way to go out with a bang than to do another medical mission but this time to India 🇮🇳!!!I’m fundraising to pay for plane ticket, trip cost and to cover the cost of the medical supplies we bring over there. Any amount is greatly appreciated and I’ll be forever thankful for the help I’ve received towards this opportunity. If you can’t donate please feel free to pass it on! Last year @northamericanrescue shared a story about a large MCI event I worked in Afghanistan. The moral of the tale is about how much people can do if they REACT and RESPOND to emergencies. If they do *something* they can save lives. The hero of the tale is Henry Christle, who survived and through providence found me years later in Halo jumpmaster school. If you want to read the story, feel free to scroll through and find it. I’ll just post the photos, you’ll get the idea. 2.  He has 10 kids.  There are nine daughters and one son.
3.  He’s musical.  If you ask him to sing an A on the music scale, he can do it without needing to hear it first. He enjoys singing and plays the piano and organ.
4.  He served in the Korean War for two years as a medic.
5.  He studied at Harvard Hospital and he’s a world-renowned surgeon.  He finished medical school in three years and became a surgeon at 22.
6.  He speaks fluent Mandarin.  President Spencer W. Kimball once challenged everyone in the meeting to learn Chinese so President Nelson took the challenge.

8. He's on The Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Religion, and Who's Who in the World list. This means he's important enough to be listed as one of the more influential men in the world.
I've loved learning more about President Nelson. He's a very genuine man who cares so much for others. I'm thankful for him being worthy to help communicate what God wants us to hear. So… lets get one thing straight… I did not want to post this, but here we are. Yep, THATS ME! 6 years ago, and 75 POUNDS HEAVIER!! —————————————————— ▪️Left: 22, let’s just say my life was turned upside down more than a few times… How did I deal with it? Binge eating, binge drinking, and pretty much hating myself. There’s a reason they say you are the company you keep. I found new people to surround myself with, and here’s what happened! —————————————————▪️Middle: 26, I decided to get off my ass and start working out. I ate “healthy,” and used exercise as an outlet, but remained inconsistent with my eating habits. Between the first and second pic, I worked 3 jobs, put myself through school full time, kept a roof over my head, and somehow managed to keep it all together, all on my own. ———————————————————▪️TODAY: 28, full time paramedic at an incredibly busy MICU, and a part time personal trainer. I took all the steps over the years to set myself up for success; mentally, physically, and emotionally. I work my ass off, but am the happiest I’ve ever been! This journey broke me down and built me up all at the same time. But hey… I finally love myself! 100% un-editied, no filters, no makeup, just confidence. CONSISTENCY WINS!——————————————————-Tell me it’s hard, I’ll agree with you. Tell me it’s impossible, I’ll tell you that you’re wrong. Blood, sweat, and tears, went into building this body, despite all the excuses in the world. IT’S POSSIBLE! Nobody likes wolfing down chicken and asparagus in the front seat of a medic truck for 12 hours… But this didn’t happen overnight, and it sure didn’t happen without sacrifices. Find your ‘Why,” fuel your own fire, and get it done. You’ll be happy you did. And don’t EVER let anyone tell you that you’re incapable of doing so! 💕💪🏼💪🏼💕💪🏼💕💪🏼💕💪🏼💕💪🏼💕💪🏼 @brittneycarbone #consistencywins #555fitness

The couple now have two sons, Ben, 15, and Jake, 13. 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦
In 2012 when Jake was seven, he was diagnosed with autism and now attends a specialist school. Jake suffers with anxiety and struggles to cope in crowded places so Simon and Jo researched strategies that might improve his condition.
They discovered Autism Assistance Dogs, who are trained to provide safety and companionship, helping to bring independence and a more socially inclusive life to autistic children and their families. Unfortunately, they were unable to cover the £5,000 costs required to train a dog for their son so they turned to us for help.
We covered the majority of costs to pay for and train a puppy and the family now have Rigby – named after a character in one of Jake’s favourite cartoons - who came to live with them in October 2016. 🐕🏡
Simon – now an emergency medic – said: “Jake adores Rigby and likes going out for walks with him, which is something he wouldn’t really do before as he didn’t like crowded places. It’s little things like going to watch his brother Ben play football – normally Jake wouldn’t do that but he’s keen to come along with Rigby now. We can’t thank the Legion enough for their support – even when our house was flooded at the start of 2016, the team contacted us to see if we needed any help and put us in touch with the Cumbria Flood Association, so it’s nice to know how much they care for veterans and go above and beyond to support us. Rigby has made such a huge difference to our lives and has had a massive impact on Jake - they have a very strong bond and we look forward to sharing many more happy family times together." 🐶😍

. 💚GAIA GRADUATES FINAL PROJECTS💚

Upon completing The Gaia School’s 10 month Sacred Plant Medicine Apptenticeship, each Gaia green witch births a creation & final Project presentation and shares his/her medicine with our communities.

We celebrate our graduates this month & their inspired creations - each one reflecting the unique alchemy of this green witch & the medicine and magick inspired by our journey together, infused with the love of his/her herbal allies and the gifts of their relationships🌹
.
.
✨🦌 Mick shares his Divine Deer Medicine - A Heart-Centered Shamanic Medicine Kit 🦌✨
.
This medicine kit combines plant allies that will help you connect to the pure, divine energy of the heart chakra together with plant allies that will help you connect with the sacred, consciousness shifting energies of the third eye and crown chakras. 💚👁 The aim of this kit is to gently support and guide you in the creation and manifestation of your reality from a place of love, beauty and compassion. 🌹

These medicines were created from experiencing the profound effects of certain plants for the heart,
where a new sense of self love and expansion emerged, bridging the gap between the physical and spiritual worlds. ✨ When used together with plants for the third eye and crown chakras; from a place of love, kindness and gentleness, you begin to experience deeper meditations, more vivid dreams and more clarity in your shamanic work. 👁 You begin to connect to all that is, to see beyond the veil, cast your visions, communicate with the divine and dream new dreams into being. You become alchemists of your own reality while enveloped in the perfect humming of your sacred center. ❤️🙏🏽 .
The kit is made up of medicines to use at various stages of meditation and shamanic work:
1: Simmer Down 2: Focus and Fly 3: Realign and Restore.
The kit also contains: Luminous Mist Spray, Luminous Roll-on, Seer Seeing Salve, Seer Soothing Salve, Sacred Smoke Blend, Simmertime Tea Mix

Today on #servingamerica we feature many Guamanians who have accomplished significant achievements in their military careers. First Lieutenant Christopher Duenas, Delta Company Executive Officer, recently graduated from the Maneuver Captains’ Career Course on August 14 at the U.S. Army’s Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, Georgia. The 22-week resident course takes place in a small group setting and includes curricula forces in all types of operations that a company commander may be forced to operate in, from combined arms maneuver to wide area security missions. 1st Lt. Duenas became the first Guam Guard Soldier to be awarded the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency in Gold for his very successful completion of the evaluation from the Commanding Officer upon recognition of his physical and moral standards.

In the second photo, Second Lieutenant Estella Blas Aguon, from the Guam Army National Guard’s 1st-294th Infantry Regiment’s Delta Company, completed the U.S. Army’s Infantry Basic Officer Leaders Course (IBOLC) and then became the Guam Guard’s first female to complete the Ranger Training Assessment Course (RTAC) at the U.S. Army’s Warrior Training Center at Fort Benning, Georgia. She joined the Guard in 2015 as a Combat Medic, or 68W, assigned to the Medical Detachment. She attended officer candidate school, was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. and assigned as an Infantry Officer and Platoon Leader in 2017.

Current shape that I’m workin with & let me tell ya, the cold honest truth; being someone who genuinely cares and is in tune with their health and fitness in their life, it has really been taking the backseat lately. October was an extremely busy month with almost every weekend busy with family/friend events, on top of Medic school during the week AND working on the ambulance. 🤦🏼‍♀️🚑 My food choices have definitely not been the best and I have not been getting into the gym nearly as much as normal. BUT THE CRAZY THING IS, is that I feel EXTREMELY happy and confident and comfortable in this shape. And ya know why? Because IM LIVING. I’m not missing out on things because I feel that I “need” to go to the gym every single day or that there “won’t be something I can eat” there. Screw that. Not the life I wanna live. Right now is the first time in many, many years that I feel HEALTHY, HAPPY, & FULL I’m all aspects of life. ✌🏻☺️ happy Halloween y’all 🎃 #eatthecandy #liveyourlife #happy #strongwomen

The day our baby blessed our lives with more joy and meaning then we could ever imagine-
It wasn’t exactly the labor I thought I’d be in for. I thought I would get all these wonderfully calm “Pinterest worthy” pictures. At midnight I tried to breath through my inconsistent contractions without asking for help from a sister with two small babies at home and or a mom who was tirelessly caring for her mom who had emergency surgery, or having to wake up JT, since he had medic school mid terms in the morning... my timing was all over the board so I didn’t think it was real...But when I decided I couldn’t take the pain any longer, and we headed to the hospital... I told my family I’d call them when we got there to let them know how far along I was. The nurse asks me after checking “good news or bad news?” I immediately thought they were sending me home... I mean my water never broke. I sadly looked at JT and said “the bad news..” then she replied “bad news is there probably won’t have time for an epidural, you’re at a 9.5. You’re having your baby now”. Straight panic mode!!! My water was holding the baby in and that’s it. So my wonderful family rushed to the hospital and my sister got these beautiful pictures to help us re-live a day we will surely never forget. .

There are quite a few of you new to following The Food Medic so first of all WELCOME TO THE FAMILY! 🙌🏽
You might be thinking, who or what is The Food Medic? Well, allow me to introduce myself 👩🏽‍⚕️
My name is Dr. Hazel Wallace and I am a qualified medical doctor, a personal trainer, an author of two cook books focused around health and nutrition (my latest hits the shelves next week!), and I am founder of the blog The Food Medic. I started my blog as a young medical student who became deeply interested in the connection between food and health 🤓
I couldn’t believe we weren’t learning about it at medical school and took it upon myself to dive deep into the literature to find out more. Now as a doctor, it has become even more apparent to me that what we eat can have huge implications on our health, both positively and negatively. I come across lifestyle related diseases such as; type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and dementia, on a daily basis and I witness the frustration, from both patients and healthcare providers, at the dissatisfaction in the management of these conditions 😔
There is a huge disconnect between conventional medicine and nutrition, and that space has been largely filled by unqualified opportunists, bloggers and pseudo-doctors who obscure any meaningful advances in understanding how nutrition influences health 😑
My aim is not to “prescribe” any diet or sell you supplements but to bust all the myths out there, offer you evidence based advice, and also to inspire you to fall in love with food and all the amazing properties it can offer us ❤️ My new book The Food Medic For Life hits the shelves April 19th and is available to pre-order on amazon, or WHSmith (where you have the option to choose pre-signed copies!), or a pre-pub price of £12 so head over there asap for a cheeky deal and a book which I think will change your life! {Outfit details tagged, photo credit: @ellisparrinder} #thefoodmedic #thefoodmedicforlife #hazelwallace

Edward G. Irvin, a #civic and religious leader, journalist and entrepreneur, was born in Spencer, Indiana on August 13, 1893 and was the seventh of nine children and son to an AME Minister.

Founder Irvin graduated from Kokomo Indiana High School in 1910 and entered Indiana University the same year. He did not return to the university following the spring term of 1911. After leaving school, he pursued a Journalistic career in various cities throughout the country until World War I. While serving the U.S. Army during the war, he was cited for bravery while performing his duties as a combat medic with the Expeditionary Forces in France. He also served on the Selective Service Board during World War II and the Korean War. He received the 2nd highest medal that is given by this country for valor. He also received two Distinguished Service Awards, from President Truman and Eisenhower respectively.

After the War, he moved to Indianapolis where he was on the staff of the Indianapolis Freeman. Founder Irvin worked for a short time as an editor at the Gary Sun newspaper before becoming sports editor at the Chicago Daily Bulletin newspaper. He also established the Indiana Shining Star weekly newspaper.

Aside from his success as a Journalist, Founder Irvin was a pioneer in promoting basketball and track athletics in the small town schools of Indiana. He was an active member of the #Methodist Church of Chicago and a member of the #Masonic and #OddFellows Lodges. He was a trustee of St. James A.M.E. Church in Chicago and founded and edited the lay newspaper, Voice of the A.M.E. Laymen.

Founder Irvin met his wife, Maywilla in Anderson, #Indiana and took up employment at the Post Office in Chicago. He also organized and operated the Afro-American Manufacturing Company in Chicago, which produced novelties, candies, and specialties.

#Founder Irvin was a long-time member of the #Chicago Alumni Chapter. Over the years, he received many awards, but the one he cherished the most was the Laurel Wreath Award. The Fraternity named an award in his honor, the Edward G. Irvin Award. It is bestowed upon the most outstanding Undergraduate Chap

I was telling an acquaintance how I was looking to go to school for EMT & possibly paramedic training, he told me that was great cause I could make good money doing that. I told him how I was also looking to get an associates degree in Lakota studies, and his response was basically that Lakota studies would always be there and they really need emt’s & paramedics, plus there’s not a lot of jobs you can get with a degree in Lakota studies. To which I replied I wasn’t seeking to get employment from an emt/paramedic certification(they wouldn’t hire me anyways because I have felonies and a throat tattoo), that I was actually doing it to become a better Street Medic so I can help people who can’t go to a hospital, either have warrants, no insurance, are not documented, etc. Basing your life on principles, rather than material objects, gives you a solid foundation which can not be rocked.
