Today we meet:
Karine Tawil founder of @karolinelang
❤️ born and raised in Beirut. ❤️ Growing up, She was very shy; She was always dreaming, and never listening. She wanted to be an architect—like her mom— and never thought she would become a fashion designer.
❤️ When she was 20-years-old, she left Beirut to study fashion in Milan at the Istituto Europeo di Design.
❤️ She worked for Marni for a year. ❤️ Afterwards, She went to a prestigious school in Paris called Institut Français de la Mode. ❤️ Then, she moved to New York where she worked for Reem Acra before she started working as a consultant for different designers and then She launched her own brand in 2010.
❤️ She named her band after her grandmother’s last name Lang—who was Austrian—but it has the same meaning of Karine’s last name [Tawil] in Arabic. Both mean “tall.”
❤️ She produces 6 collections a year: 2 couture, 2 ready to wear and 2 bridal ❤️ She is a designer with a vision; She knows where she’s going, and where she wants to get to, and making a business plan and looking for investors is part of the process.
❤️ And if you’re still reading, she’s one of my favorite designers in Beirut 😍
