Almost exactly a year ago I woke up thinking my life had spun out of control and that all my dreams and aspirations were gone, and those times were over for me. With that being said it has been a whole year to actually reflect on what had happened to me and I could say with pride that the accident had been the best thing to happen to me and that this is the best version of Me that I've known because of it. Life too me!, tested almost every aspect of my character and with that I am very happy with the results and know now life is truly at our fingertips. But this was all possible with the tremendous amount of support and love I truly received during that time. This here is a Cheers 🥂 too all my friends, family, and of course my co-workers/boss that have been there for me and for some reason still are 😁. Also a special thank you to the few ppl that really went the extra miles this time last year to help and support me... I would be on my knees and hands in the same spot I was last year if it weren't for u guys... MAY THE NEW YEARS BRING US ALL HAPPINESS, LOVE, AND GOOD HEALTH. Just remember you can't get without giving so always be the light in your neighbors darkness ✌️❤️. I love you all of you guys so much and especially the ones who read this, to this point.

Trade one poison for another. Before you go screaming about Jonas Salk, take a look at your own life and count up all the pills, powders, and potions you pop on a daily basis simply because you refuse to go for a 30-minute walk each day and avoid processed foods. 2 out of 3 Americans will die due to lifestyle related illness. That is a sad fact but it does not have to determine your fate. There is still time to choose health. Drink more water. Avoid processed sugar. Walk daily. Go for a hike. Smile at your neighbors. Tell your family you love them everyday. Get 8 hours of sleep per night. Eliminate small daily stressors in your life. Eat real food in wide varieties. Fall in love with living! #dolcediet #dolceknows #thedolcediet #life

I can’t watch another news outlet interview people - students, teachers, etc. - about the Florida gunman. Going into detail about his very evident instability. I am astounded and alarmed and ashamed. Anything for ratings. How deeply disrespectful to every family mourning the loss of their precious babies or beloved family members. We aren’t answering why - we’re just highlighting the fact that his darkness was known, but no one had the tools or maybe the courage to stop it. I cannot bear the ignorance.
How about we start talking about gun safety and mental health and how to productively manage emotions. How about we each really ask ourselves how we are truly improving our neighborhood, our town, our city, our state, our country. How can we take action right now in exemplifying love and truth, respect for human life and dignity, and putting and end to the unbelievable nonsense that is children shooting children. Humans killing humans.
There is not one single solution or political party or law or thought or prayer that will solve this. Both big ideas and small steps combined will move us forward. The systems are broken, yes, but our hands and words and actions can heal.
I will not go quietly into this night. I refuse to bear it, and you should, too. Our neighbors need us to ask them how they are, to send the text, to make the phone call, to ring the doorbell. To love them like we so love ourselves. Have courage, speak truth. And stop watching the news. (Just kidding. Kind of.)

Lucie got ADOPTED!!!! 🚗❤️🙌🏽 If you recall, Lucie was found in the parking lot of a gas station on a busy highway in South Carolina. She is estimated to be around 8-10 years old. A few locals kept an eye on her, but it wasn't until a shelter volunteer from Saint Frances Animal Center spotted Lucie and took her to safety. Lucie behaves as if she's once had a family, but nobody ever came looking for her and she was put up for adoption. She was up for adoption at the shelter for MONTHS. 🙁 And so, it’s an understatement to say we are over the moon with excitement that she has found herself the best forever-family around!! 🤩 Peggy and her family recently lost their dog who happened to be from the same shelter Lucie is from. After taking some time to allow their hearts to heal, they realized Lucie was their match-made-in-heaven! 💝💝 Peggy wrote, "Lucie is adjusting very well. She's a bundle of energy and loves to play with her toys. She especially loves when I get down on my all fours to play!!! She is doing much better on her walks, not pulling anymore. She is charming the neighbors with her wiggly tail and kisses! Lucie loves attention and is such a sweet love, always by my side and very affectionate. I bought her a bed, but of course she prefers mine and that is ok with me.
Our dog had passed away the day after Easter (who we also adopted from Saint Frances, when she was 5 years old), and we were not ready for another (especially one who looks the same!). However, when I saw her picture and then read her bio we just had to go meet her. All good things happen for a reason. Lucie needed a loving home (and we need her) and we can provide that to her. Her second half of life will be filled with nothing but love and the best this world has to offer!" ❤️ #seniordog #adopted #thegoodlife #adoptdontshop

All of us, single or married, are eternally part of some family—someway, somewhere, somehow—and much of our joy in life comes as we correctly recognize and properly develop those family relationships. We come to this earth charged with a mission: to learn to love and serve one another. To best help us accomplish this, God has placed us in families, for he knows that is where we can best learn to overcome selfishness and pride and to sacrifice for others and to make happiness and helpfulness and humility and love the very essence of our character.
.
We learn that friends and neighbors come and go but family is forever, and as we learn this, we find that we are eternally our brother’s keeper and we begin to realize how much help we need. — John H. Groberg

You have taught me what it means to have a forever friend, no matter the distance nor time that passes by between each phone call. You have taught me how to love myself, and love those around me a little stronger than I already do. You have taught me it’s good to give back during the holidays and give neighbors our treats as much as I want to eat them. You have showed me that I am not the only one that does midnight ice cream runs. You have proven to not give up on love, no matter how bad you want too- that if you dig a little deeper you’ll find the one that’s looking for you. You have showed me how a friend should treat me. You have accepted my flaws and weirdness, as I have yours. You have brought me into your home and gave me the pleasure of meeting one of the best men I think I’ll ever come across in my life, Tom. I will be forever thankful of being your friend, and for the way you love my sister and my family as if they were your own. I hope you have the most magical birthday yet. You deserve that. I love you 🤟🏼

I felt moved to share during open worship, but couldn’t find the words to articulate what I was feeling. So, instead of waiting for next year’s service, I thought I’d share it here ...
————————————————————
Jordan and I moved to California three years ago. We took our safety net out from underneath ourselves and basically started over in terms of social contacts and connections. But, we did it because we felt God was giving us an opportunity that lined up with our convictions, specifically our convictions regarding women in ministry and egalitarianism. And, three years in, we’ve found this new chapter of life to be even more fulfilling than we hoped for. ————————————————————
When I looked around the room during the Thanksgiving Service, I saw friends and family. I saw people we love & support and I saw people who love & support us. I saw women and men leading and pastoring together as partners. I saw foster parents and people who support foster parents. I saw people who take Scripture seriously, but who don’t pretend it’s not complicated ... and who trust each other and the Holy Spirit to navigate them through it. I saw people who love God and who worship not only when they reach up to the heavens, but who worship when they reach out to each other and their neighbors as well. I saw people trying to walk with Jesus, not just with an idea of Jesus. ————————————————————
The whole “church family” concept is real for us. I don’t feel like a staff member here, I feel like a part of a community. And I love it. Thank you. #rdflife @rdfchurch

Thank you for your unconditional love, for your forgiveness of my sins, and for your soul saving grace. Thank you for my loving family, for my amazing friends, and for my neighbors. Thank you for walking with me daily as I travel down my narrow path. Thank you for lifting me when I am weak and struggling. Thank you for holding me when I am facing my deepest valleys. I shall fear no evil, for you are always with me. O LORD, you are my rock, my firm foundation, my counselor, my comforter, my guide, and my Savior. In you O LORD I place my hopes, my dreams, and my life. O LORD, as I go forth into this new day, may I be still among the chaos of life and hear your soft whisper calling unto me. May I be willing to let go of my controlling ways so I may be open, willing to follow where you lead. May I be a vessel of your love and grace. May I be a difference in the lives of others. May I bring you honor and glory in and through my mere words and actions. May I be, O LORD. Father, hear thy servant's heart as I lift my prayer concerns to you. Into your loving and healing hands I place them, heal them accordingly. In your most Holy and saving name I pray. Amen.

Hundreds of acres were burned. Our sweet neighbors saved all the horses before anyone could get there. And the firefighters saved our barn, guest house, stable, cows AND stopped the fire 50 feet before entering the canyon, where our family hand-built home stands. (Where Jason and I eloped 6 years ago) Thank YOU to all the firefighters on the ground and in planes who fought against the west TX raging flames. A few days before there was a 15,000 acre fire that they put out not too far away. We were so blessed to be surrounded by such bravery & expertise. Love this song “Dangerous People” that @jasonreeves released a while back... as the world gets crazier, hold on to those you love. Because that’s all that really matters in life. We can’t take any of this “stuff” with us when we go. But I do hope our house on the canyon stands strong for 100’s of years after we are gone as a symbol of love, perseverance and family memories. Thoughts and prayers go out to all families affected by wildfires this year. Especially those in California. 🙏🙏🙏

I think its really generous of you to giveaway this custom set!
So... I guess this is kinda my story?😂
Well, I've been riding since I was six. Ive loved horses my entire life! In October, i finally had convinced my parents to let me buy a shetland pony. I worked my toosh off for her. 😂Ive been paying for feed, tack and supplies. I work at a local barn 4 days a week to help pay for her. Im only 12. We went through all this trouble so she could stay with us at our house. (We own a 3 acre lot of land) We named her Beyonce💜 She was COMPLETELY green😂 I trained her to be ridden and bomb proof. She went from a biting gremlin to a sweet jumping angel that i adore❤️ Our stupid, horrible, miserable neighbors complained to the district. We went to court twice to try to save her. Finally, in February, we got a final sentence that she had to be off the property by April 10. We found her an incredible home, where i'll get to see her a couple times each month! The lady is so incredible and has helped us so much and i know shes going to love my baby girl as much i do. Shes the love of my life and i wish so badly i could still keep her with me😭 Shes taught me so much, like how to not be afraid of doing all these crazy things that i probably shouldn't be doing😂❤️ Shes leaving on Wednesday😓💜 I really wanted to thank the lady taking her (Patti) I don't really have the money right now though. Patti has three other horses and i know she would love a set like this❤️ She has done so much for me, Beyonce, and my family. If i win this set, i would be over the moon to be able to give it to this incredible lady❤️ Im sorry I probably bored you to death there😁😂 Thank you💞

Growing up, my family road-tripped over 3 hours nearly every weekend to my grandparent's home way out in the teeny tiny town of Wolfe City, TX. 'Grandmother & Granddad's' we called it, the house (or small farm) they lived in all their lives, where they raised 6 kids, 14 grandkids, bred horses & cows, hosted bonfires and a million Christmases and Thanksgivings - cramming in cousins and grandkids, college-friends and the nearly-family-neighbors. Everyone and anyone was always welcome - no matter what. And almost always there were sleepovers - even though beds were scarce and the house had one bathroom, somehow there was always room for another pallet on the floor or another space on the couch.
My grandmother loved Norman Rockwell calendars - there was always one hung up by the sink in the tiny bathroom - and while my hair was being dried (by mom, aunt or grandmother) or I brushed my teeth before bed...I would study it. Rockwell’s paintings fascinate me - the way he tells a story, ironic and sentimental, often comical, through brush strokes and imperfect, real life scenes. As an artist, it’s easy to crave flawlessness, in what I create, photograph and write about. I want it to shine, spin on its toes and burst off pages into an audience's standing ovation. But I know, only too well, it's not what lasts. As Rockwell and his paintings seemed to understand so well - wrinkles and weathered skin tell the best stories, mistakes and making-do sticks deeper because of the love that fills in the cracks...there's a reason I remember the smell of my grandmother's soap and the wood chips in Granddad's workshop so well. And that's what I strive to embrace...less of the pinnacle moments, more of life in the trenches. Less highlight reel, more of the beauty found in sacrifice and daily, constant, selfless loving. I love that you'll still find Norman Rockwell calendars in the corner my aunt's kitchen and a painting of the same hung in our home by my mother...our roots remind us of home - I think that's something worth keeping.

p.s. if anyone made it through all of that ^ --- bless you 🙈😘

As I sit here and reflect back on the last 12 months— the memories I’ve made and the milestones we’ve all tackled together, I feel grateful. 2017 has been a bit of a doozy w/ it’s highs and lows and actually it’s been pretty tough if I’m being honest. For starters— I can sum up our first year of marriage as a holy chaotic three legged race through the amazon! It’s such a sweet source of JOY, love, and laughter—having a partner to do this crazy life with but it’s hard... like really hard sometimes. In january, the Lord helped us purchase a big barn with lots of land and we’ve been working on it ever since! Friends, reno IS HARD and so many expectations must transform into compromise for it to become progress. It’s been such an adventure to do this as husband and wife— we look forward to moving in this year! (Still crossing my fingers for a slide!) In April we moved out of our rental to “the bend” and in with MawMaw. This has been such a gift! Not only is she wonderful company but being neighbors with Pauls parents gives us the privilege of eating dinner with them seriously almost every night. (P.s.- HUGE shoutout to Hal and Marcia, Thanks for keeping us alive!)The timing of all of this is part of a bigger story that we weren’t expecting to ever have to experience but in true God fashion— he was preparing us. In March my sweet Father in law Hal Sewell was diagnosed with ALS. There’s nothing great to say about it— it’s awful—except— his attitude, bright spirit, and the blessed assurance he has of spending eternity with Jesus has made this tragic diagnosis a hint more bearable for those that deeply love him. This year we learned a lot about ALS and ourselves, we modified their home, renovated a bathroom and built ramps, we joined FB support groups, we walked in the ALS walk in Birmingham, traveled to La., Tenn., and Ga., and we spent more quality time together as a family then ever before! It’s been tough but family, friends, being in my first musical as an adult, and my new job at JSU have saved my life this year! My prayer is that 2018 will be a year of more prayer, peace, hope, growth, and contentment for all of us out here!
Happy New Year! Love, Beth

First-girl makes these little paper chains in Sunday School and decides she's gifting them to the neighbors.
.
"Mama, write on the rings, 'God loves you. Do you know that Jesus made you? And that He loves your family? From Joanna. Love First Girl."
.
I catch myself pausing, even, maybe, cringing? Does she need to be so....direct? Because I'm pretty sure these neighbors, they're not People of the Cross. Maybe we could just put her name down, and not mine. It's really all her idea and kids, you know, they say the darndest things.
.
But no, she won't stand for that. And she won't let me hang back when we go to the door, insisting that I knock.
.
We give the love offering and wander back across our yard and I'm shaking my head in wonder. And maybe a little bit of shame too?
.
When that barely teenage girl said yes to that radiant angel's crazy ask, did she maybe flinch too at what people would think? Or did she say yes to the Messiah babe with the love, delight and awe of child-like faith? Did she care so much for the gaze of our Abba that judging stares and harsh whispers just faded into the background?
.
Her yes changed the world and she payed for it dearly. You can bet more than a few women kept a wide distance their whole life, careful not to get mixed up in the scandal of that virgin birth.
.
This Advent season, the same invite is extended to you and me. Perhaps especially me. To say yes to a babe that will wreck your reputation, make you a rebel outcast of the status quo and keep you stepping out in deep water faith.
.
"And a little child shall lead them."
.

In fact, we didn’t do much to make him feel honored or special. I didn’t even remember to give him his Father’s Day card.
But, true to form, he didn’t complain or mope. He said he was doing what he wanted to do most: be with us and with our beloved next door neighbor, who lost his wife to cancer yesterday morning.
We were making breakfast for Aaron when they came to the door with the news. We all stood together, hugged and cried.
Our neighbor fought breast cancer valiantly for years. She beat it, and then it came back. She was strong and brave until the very end.
Yet even while she was enduring chemo, she remembered my kids, somehow getting them Christmas gifts, delivered to our door by her husband and grandson.
She remembered every holiday. Giving the kids gifts not just for Christmas, but also Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Easter.
She and her family threw the most amazing 4th of July party ever, and it happened every single year. Even while she was sick, recovering from surgery and doing chemo. Because of them, the 4th will forever be an incredible part of my children’s memories.
She was kind and thoughtful, and most of all totally invested in other people’s lives. Even, us, her next door neighbors. We loved her dearly.
So while yesterday wasn’t about taking Aaron to his favorite places or even making him a special meal, it was about seeing him love people, like a good dad does. I was so proud to see him investing his life in others. Spending the afternoon at our neighbors’ house, talking with family and friends, hugging, crying, and loving people.
It was a small sacrifice. One he’d make in an instant.
And that’s what true fatherhood is all about. Many, many sacrifices, made over and over again. Because a true father is wholly invested in the lives of his children, and in the lives of others.
Thank you for being that kind of dad, @aaroneskridge. We are so blessed to call you daddy every single day of the year.
•I’d be remiss not to ask you, in the memory of my dear neighbor, to invest in the people around you today, this week, and really, all the time❤️•

HELLO, my name is Bama and I taught my parents A LOT the short few years I was with them. 💜💜
It started from day one when they adopted me. So many firsts; I was their first dog “together”, their first rescued pup, & their first pitbull. After adopting me they learned about my past through my ‘foster’ mom. They didn’t know anything about fostering at that time, but after hearing my story from being so close to death and then having the great life I had, they felt inspired. I was the reason they started fostering and to this day have saved 17 lives. They plan to save more too! Before adopting me they had heard many great stories of how amazing the pitbull breed was, They had also heard all the terrible stereotypical stories too. At first it was hard for them to tell people they had “adopted a PITBULL” There were friends & family who questioned the decision. It didn’t take long for me to prove the stereotypes wrong and make EVERYONE I met LOVE me though. Mom and Dad became huge advocates for the breed and now say that pit bulls are their main focus.
After 2.5 years of taking care of my healthy self, I was diagnosed with epilepsy. This was the big life changer in Mom and Dad’s life. The medications they put me on had to be given everyday at 6am and 6pm. And there wasn’t much of a time gap to miss giving these medications. Every night had to be planned out on who was going to be home from work or other plans to get her the evening meds. We were all thankful for good neighbors, friends and family who also helped with medications some days. The medications weren’t cheap and the vet visits came with a cost. Mom and Dad had to take a break from vacationing as they didn’t want to leave all the responsibilities on someone to take care of me. They were also afraid of losing me while not home. They didn’t care about that though, they cared about me more. They grew strong together while having to watch me have seizures and go through my “bad med reaction” days and post-ictal days.
Bama, you helped us more than we ever helped you. We love and miss you. Thank you.

It’s amazing what “a dog” can teach you. This is just Bama’s story, but I know all dog owners have their own.

The ASPCA estimates that half of intentional police firearm discharges involve a dog. #Repost @socialteesnyc with @repostapp・・・This is one of those times when we need to ask all of you put positive energy into the universe. Ziggy, this handsome man adopted from us 4 years ago, was shot and killed by a police officer a few nights ago in a Brooklyn park, and our hearts are with his family. Lots of you have probably seen the story by now. We have many, many animal loving friends in the NYPD, and we only know what we've read, but we are confused and devastated. According to our experience and reports from neighbors, Ziggy was right up there with the gentlest souls ever born. It sounds like this amounts to an unconscionable mistake, and we feel helpless wondering how this could have happened -- and how similar incidents can be prevented. For those of you to whom this is brand new, we encourage you to look up the stories yourselves because we don't feel it's appropriate for us to speculate or try to recap exactly what happened. What we can tell you is that we vividly remember the day we rescued him -- he was on the euthanasia list, and we fell head over heels. We described him as "Mr. Charisma" in his social media posts. A few months after he was adopted, his family emailed this photo of him with an update we shared at the time: "We love him so much and can't imagine life without him." We feel feeble trying to comfort them in this moment, especially since they have immediately shown such strength, compassion, and generosity in a time of need -- they are hosting a fundraiser for rescue animals in Ziggy's honor at https://www.gofundme.com/ziggys-funeral-fund -- they have already more than tripled their goal, so we are inspired to see so many caring friends showing solidarity. Ziggy and family, we are sending all of our love your way tonight. #pitbull #accsurvivor #socialtees #socialteesnyc

My wife’s family is large but very close knit, and he was a big part of it. He was a dynamic, smart, funny, vivacious person. So talented in whatever he did, from making prostheses to painting. He was an artist and also a source of comic relief in the family. He was driven. He had a vision of leaving the Philippines for greener pastures in the United States.
.

We tried to stay positive after his diagnosis. But Multiple Myeloma is no joke. It was rough. Dad had to have a stem cell transplant and be in quarantine while he had no immune system. We hoped that the treatment would work. And it did. For a little while. But we had to keep trying harsher treatment. That is when we needed help. Between care for Dad as things got worse, and travel, we didn’t have the time or resources to shop for food and prepare dinner. And when we did have food,it would be fast food or takeout and not nutritious.
So my wife started looking for help. And sure enough we found God’s Love We Deliver. And it was AMAZING. We could not have asked for
more. They delivered so Dad could get rest, and the food was delicious and also good for him.

If anything is love, helping the sick with meals is it. We were so lucky to have found this organization… it took a load off my family while we were already dealing with so much and that effort will forever be remembered.

I’ll never forget the day when your family moved in 7 houses down and I was swinging on your next door neighbors and yelled “Hi~!” from across the yard as you got out of your moms car and walked into your new house... you gave me the dirtiest annoyed look but I knew we were going to be best friends from that moment on. I thought you were so cool with your bowl cut and choice of clothing, I wanted to be just like you! You always loved to read and I knew you were the brainy/smart one between the two of us, so for the rest of my life I always had someone I could go to for advice... even though I would manage to convince you to “come on~ your gonna rot your brain out with all that reading! Let’s go outside and play!” Hehe. From 5-18 we grew up on the same block, from 6-11 we went to the same grammar school, and you were by my side for almost every major milestone in my life... your family became my family and my family became yours... we outgrew best friendship... and now the only right term for you would be my sister. I seriously can not imagine life without you and every day I thank the universe for blessing me with the best adopted sister a girl could ask for. I love you Mari! Thank you for being by my side for 27 years and many more to come!👭❤️ #sisterlove #80sbabies #90skids

Two years ago today one of our greatest chapters in life began when we closed on the purchase of our own little slice of the American dream! ❤️🏠😍 As a kid growing up in this little city of ours, I used to dream of owning one of the big old houses in this neighborhood and the day it happened I cried tears of pure joy. Little did we know, we’d also make the very best of friends, and be welcomed into the most incredibly loving and loyal family of neighbors. This fall we were married in the street out front (thanks to epic rain fall flooding the backyard) and one of our neighbors was ordained to marry us, because getting married here with these people was the only thing that felt right. We’ve spent approximately 1,000,000 hours renovating and sweating with roughly 3,000,000 more to go and we only love these old walls more every day.
Not a day goes by that we aren’t humbled and grateful for these people and this house that has become the cornerstone for some of our greatest, most magical memories. ❤️❤️❤️

Let me forever cherish them along the way, no matter where we are, whether it's a quarter mile away or half way across the world, thank you for putting them in my life. And the second, this is: You shall love your neighbors as yourself, there is no other commandment greater than these." Mark 12:30-31

At 5:20pm on September 15, 2017, the beautiful soul we all know as Paris or Boog took her last breath on this earth.
To my best friend,
Words cannot fathom the emotions I am feeling right now. I can't believe you're gone and our time together has ended. I remember the day we got you, Dad rolled you onto your back to see if you would react, you just laid there with your round, full little belly and we knew you were the one. You took some time adjusting to home when you arrived, I mean, you knocked over the Christmas tree and broke all the ornaments but that was just the beginning of your terrible two moments. You have eaten a cell phone, hoses, hats, shoes, dining room chairs, ice cream wrappers and my favorite, random loaves of bread. For some reason you always got lucky with whole loaves of bread🤔 Also, you took it upon yourself to take yourself on walks and we even found you in our neighbors fountain. Let's not forget knocking over neighbors trash cans on those excursions as well. They thought it was the raccoons, we knew it was you. Through all the error you became the greatest dog ever. You were by my side through every injury, sick day, bad day, sad day. You always knew when I needed you and never left my side. A couple years ago, we thought your time was up, but once again you proved you were Super Boog and you gave us another three years. You were my best friend, sister, mother all in one. I am truly saddened that I could not be there to comfort you when you needed me the most. Thank you for giving me almost 14 years of your selfless and endless love. I cannot believe I was 9 years old when we got you and you were a few days shy of your 14th birthday. I wish we had forever together but life is unfair. You touched the lives of so many people whether they were friends or family. Paris, Pawis, Boog, or Boogie. Everyone will remember you as the bp trolling dog at the Ostrom house. You will always be my on sale, Christmas puppy. You will forever be in my heart, and not a day will go by that I don't think about you. I love you with everything in me and I miss you best friend. love you so much Boog. Rest easy my love. ♥️🐶💕All my love,
Vanna

To all of our Ohio friends, neighbors, coworkers, teachers, coaches, and favorite store clerks 😉 — thank you for everything!!! Our WPAFB chapter will always be special because of you. 💛 And to the rail trails and running routes — thanks for the memories. Hopefully we’ll be back someday soon!

And by way of an update: @mattydtri flew back to work in California a few days ago, the kids flew to Utah with my mom early this morning, and my solo drive across America with the cat begins this afternoon. Wish me luck! 😹 Our base housing in SoCal won’t be available until mid-to-end of July, so the kids and I will be visiting family in Utah for the next month or so. Definitely looking forward to all living together again and settling into normal life in a new home later this summer!!! .

It’s been on my mind this week that as the Lord leads us further into holiness, life becomes more joyful and fulfilling. Sometimes the world can tempt us to believe our lives should look more like those around us. But if we don’t have the Lord, everything else is empty. Don’t let the world tell you your marriage isn’t what it should be if it doesn’t look like what covers the media. Don’t let the world tell you you aren’t living out your purpose if you aren’t busy all of the time. Don’t let the world tell you you’re a bad parent if you don’t always have good days.
_
Remember this, dear friends. The Lord sees you. He wants freedom for you. He wants peace for you. He wants righteous love for you. He wants to know you and walk with you everyday. He wants you to experience the life He intended for you to know. With that, the world’s lies pass away and you can hear His gentle voice telling you that He loves you and He wants you to experience life with Him outside of the church pew every week. He wants to go on a crazy adventure with you where you experience what your marriage, family, friendships, and loving your neighbors would look like if He were at the center.

_
So spend some time with Him today. Ask Him to take your hand and go on that amazing journey with Him. It will lead to more joy and fulfillment than you could ever imagine.

Today is so powerful because, across the globe, people are celebrating their friends and family members with Down syndrome. For most of human history children with Down syndrome were considered a shame to be locked away from the public. My heart breaks not only for the abuse and neglect of human life but also for the families and communities who missed out on the opportunity to know their amazing children, siblings, and neighbors.

Today is our day to shout the worth and abilities of all members of society and say, “Hey, you know that classmate/co-worker/neighbor? Turns out, they are more alike than different.” Before I knew Addison my knowledge of Down syndrome included words like disability…sadness…fear. But, guys? Love casts out fear. Loving Addison showed me that he is not perfect despite his genetic makeup. Every aspect of his being…spirt, mind, genetics…works together to create a perfect and whole, fearfully and wonderfully made little boy.

Someone asked me to share “my story” the other day and I realized…even the elevator speech? It’s impossible to tell without this guy as the central character. So much of who I am is because of his presence in my life and I am so grateful God chose me to be Addison’s big sister. Little man, keep being your amazing self. You constantly blow us all away and my forever favorite will be watching you make the world a better place. #ilovehenry #worlddownsyndromeday2018 #yesican #morealikethandifferent

My Grandma is 85 years young and she still walks with a spring in her step. She is the most joyful woman I know. I am her oldest granddaughter and namesake, Angela, which I wear proudly like a badge of honor. She is from Northern Ireland in a town called Derry where she fell in love with an American Yank who stole her heart and built a life with her in Seal Beach, CA. We are neighbors and what a gift it is for our Children to be able to walk to their GG’s house and have a cup of tea and a chocolate on the daily. At the center of her world is Love and Family. If your are lucky to know her you recognize that special sparkle in her eye that is magic. Every moment with her is a treasure.

My Momma, Cleobelle. Her sense of wonder and adventure continues to amaze me. She radiates from within and chooses to always see the silver lining through every step of her journey. As a shy little girl, she pushed me into things that were hard and gave me a sense of confidence I might not have found otherwise. She’s the one I always lean on to give me sound advise when I am lost and scared. I will never take for granted all the opportunities I have had in my life. None which would have been possible without the courage and sacrifice of my mama. She has the biggest heart and is my greatest teacher. Thank you for giving me strength to stand up against injustice, thank you for giving me the value of my heritage, you could have given me a better singing voice, but who’s perfect😉
I will always do my best to give Keenan and Indigo the same gifts you have both given me.
Happy Mother’s Day! ♥️@angieob

Sending high-fives and fist pumps and kisses smack-dab-on-the-lips (you know how I roll @ashstonermitlyng ) to all my beautiful, brave, powerful, empathetic, resilient lady friends out there.
Every. Damn. Woman. in this photo has endured considerable hardships, life-altering losses, and for brief and not-so-brief periods utterly lost the path forward. But every damn one of them persevered. Instead of being victims, they are survivors. They radiate joy and spread love. They learn, teach, and take new leaps. They speak out against intolerance and practice compassionate. They make new families and cast their friendship nets wider.
This isn’t just me saying nice things about my friends; I seriously have a network of women that have been physically and/or emotionally knocked on their asses (some of them in ways I cannot fathom recovering from); and the older I get, the more I realize just how much strength of character it takes to keep going- and more impressively- to keep going with a message of love still on your lips. There are no hardened hearts in this room. In fact, the honesty, vulnerability and humility of these women has gained momentum over the years.
Being a woman comes with extra difficulties in this world, but these women (and so many others) are working toward easing that burden for future generations of women in various ways. I’m not sure if it’s luck or fate that brought them each into my life, but I’m holding onto them more tightly than ever!
It’s imperative to recognize and celebrate the big movers and shakers throughout history who fought for women’s rights, and who fight now, no doubt, but we must also celebrate the people who may never make history books: our friends and family members and neighbors who speak up, take action, teach their children- making differences in small ways. They are impactful. Millions of singular voices combined are terrifically LOUD.
Shoutout to the ladies who are not in this photo, but that I can say the same of: @scrappyshae @julieindisguise @nmwarner + ...
Shoutout to the woman who is bringing another woman (a Pisces!) into the world RIGHT NOW. I can’t wait to meet her. ❤️

Without my health I’m limited to how I can show up in other people’s lives like...my husband, my son, my family+friends, church and neighbors.

At the end of my life people aren’t going to talk about how fit I was OR whether I had abs OR great biceps BUT they will talk about how I made them feel.

When I’m healthy, I’m happy and that allows me to LOVE others better 💕. #mypeopleneedme #lovemore #myhealthismywealth #fittoserve #byebyeLupus #builtfromfire

However, I’ve been asked a lot lately how I got started on my fitness and coaching journey, so I thought I’d take 2 minutes of your time to just put it out there for everyone to see.

For the past 10 years, I’ve been wife’ing, mommy’ing, friend’ing, volunteering, and teaching for those around me. I have given to my kids, my husband, my family and friends, my church, my neighbors and my homeschool co-op. Here’s what I gave myself….an excuse to eat ice cream everynite before bed. I gave myself permission to just veg out because I’d given to everyone else all day long. I gave up my own life because I was giving it over to everyone else. Turns out that giving myself an excuse to sit out on my life made me tired. And uncomfortable. And lost. I was lacking focus and energy. When I started giving myself what I needed-working out, better food, better sleep, something amazing happened. I started waking up earlier. I can zero in on my day and to do list. I’m happier. I’m stronger and healthier. I feel good about my body. I have MORE to give to others because I gave to myself. I have learned and am still learning that just because I have life going on around me, doesn’t mean I have to knock myself off the to do list. I’m important, too. It’s a hard lesson, but I’m so glad I’m figuring it out.
If you have any interest in what I’m doing, please feel free to message me. I’m happy to chat with you about it and I’d love to hear from you!

For nearly a century (incredible right?), my Grandpa Wren has been spreading light, laughter, wisdom and love in his unassuming, humble way. Someone last week said that we look alike (sorry about that, Gramps! 😜). While we DO have the same barber, I can only aspire to be half the man he is. This summer, @vspice8 and I started interviewing him and our Grandma about their life history. Didn't think it was possible for my admiration to grow. He does everything for his wife, his family, his neighbors and God. What else is there? Full of faith, action, commitment, honor, humility, integrity. He's a family man, disciple of Christ and a veteran. Plus, his plaid peacoat game is strong! #lighttheworld

I rarely share pictures of my house because #oldhouseproblems + big, shady trees in the yard make for the worst sort of lighting. But I'm sharing a couple today because our long sabbatical + our most recent decision to stay put for the long haul warranted an outward expression of an inward shift.

For six years, our home functioned as a church building, a full time day care, gathering place of neighbors, meeting place of small groups, mom groups, elder meetings, play groups, supper clubs...you get the idea. Our house was {happily} arranged to meet the needs of everyone we anticipated coming into our home. We loved having a house full.

Yesterday, on a whim we somehow harnessed from the place of {what are we doing here?} we decided to turn the house upside down and rearranged the furniture to make the house feel like {our} home.

This room used to be our dining room because we could seat the greatest number of people around the table in here. Now it's our family room, complete with the piano that used to belong in our master bedroom. 😬It's full of all the stuff we love and if I'm honest, it's crammed.
But we freaking love this space.
And this recovering Place Maker for Everyone But Her Family feels nothing but JOY.

Sabbatical is remaking me, y'all, and it's remaking me in all the areas of life I foolishly thought I was nailing.

I wanted a sanctuary, and though I did not seem able to rope off such a place inside myself, I still held out hope that if I could build one outside myself then perhaps, the inner one would grow. - Barbara Brown Taylor, Leaving Church

I cherish you, you keep me surviving & thriving, and I love you more than you will EVER know.❤️
(I’m working on expressing it more tho—I promise!😉) To friends.. acquaintances.. the chick who lent me a hair tie when I needed one.. the girl who let me use her charger when my phone was dead.. the waitress who complemented me on a piercing.. the friendly women we’ve all met so many times in a bar bathroom;
you ladies are all Badasses, you’re strong AF, creative, and beautiful in your own ways. Don’t ever forget that. And especially don’t allow a guy to let you forget that. 😘
And to the millions of interesting women all across the world, the majority of whom we’ll never have the pleasure of meeting. To the ones living in fear, in impoverished countries, places where equality is nonexistent, and raising their family is a constant struggle... we see you. 👀💪🏼 We applaud your courage to not give up, and your perseverance in a cold, unjust man’s world.
To all sisters, aunts, grandmothers, neighbors, coworkers, mothers, fur mamas.
To the nice girls, the bad girls, the tomboys, the divas, the sluts, the teases, and the prudes all alike. To the feminists who choose to never wear makeup & rock it. The feminists who choose to get glammed up on the daily because they love their choice & they’re slaaaaying it.
To alllll y’all betchs. Take pride in being female. We’re tougher, smarter, and braver than we think.
Empowered women empower women.
Strong women lift each other up, they don’t tear each other down.
Let’s try to be a little kinder to one another. We know how hard it is being a girl, so let’s be nice to our fellow gurlfrands. Vaginas unite! Imagine if during Trump’s administration we make THIS the year that women kick ASS. How rad would that be!!? Find your inner Danaerys Targaryen, stand up for yourself and for women everywhere, and let all the little girls out there know that they can grow up to be hot BOSSES.🔥 let’s all be sweet to each other k!!! I know the world is an imperfect place and with that, I am grateful for where I am at today and all the opportunities presented to me in my personal and professional life. I also realize that these opportunities and good fortune mean nothing if not shared, so I choose…

I choose to take a stand for the people I represent, to help them plan their future and reach their real estate goals. It is also important to me that I incorporate myself within and give back to the community I do business in. Toward this goal, I would love to uplift, motivate and inspire whenever I can. Our physical and mental health is truly our greatest wealth and I value that for others. For that reason I've teamed up with health coach and yoga master, Marina Stirdivant Belmonte @yogarays_ and KASE agent, Corinne Ramos @ggzkitchen to collaborate on perfecting the Art of Mindfulness. Mindful in the way we love ourselves first and foremost. From that space, we can all make a positive impact in the way we chose to live day-to-day. By focusing on our community, whether it’s family, friends, colleagues or neighbors. We are all capable of change.
Yoga at Pines Park was the first of many free family events @cheriephan @kaserealestate plan to organized for our community. YOU!

Said goodbye to our house today. and our neighbors .and our friends . @billfoley72 you mean the world to me. You were there when my husband deployed and you were like a dad to our kids . You have lifted my spirit with joy and more times than I can count along with all of the things you have fixed , I can’t even count. Dressers, benches , bikes ... I am so grateful. @taylorfoleyy you are a bright shining light and stronger than you even know. @jillybean678 I am so glad you became part of the “ group” your presence fills my heart with joy. @jadeholder1128 your mom and Bill have been such a blessing to our family I can’t even put it into words. Lily, you are adored and “ mr. bill “ you are a treasure . And we have loved spending time with you at the new ranch! @jtjkski you were a blessing to me in ways that can not explain . You made us feel welcome from the day we started school. You loved our kids and I just don’t know how to express my gratitude . I pray blessings over each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being our friends. Today is the hardest day of military life, sometimes harder than a deployment . You have to turn in your life, everything you know and love and start over. Every. Three. Years. I chose to believe that God is the God of increase and blessing and whenever he asks you to leave, it’s for something good. Jeremiah 29:11 says so. I will miss California dearly. This was my very favorite home and where I started my ministry. This is where I fought and won. It’s not goodbye , it’s see ya later. And to all my Crossroads family, you are a treasure . I will miss you all.

In your 30’s you live it. 🙏 Here are 10 of my most important Lessons learned: and because I didn’t wanna create a highlight real, scrolll to check out the tiger stripes on my ass that symbolize this life I have lived and survived. I’m damn proud and you should be too.time to own it ALL.
1. Money may buy convenience but it doesn’t buy happiness. Seriously this isn’t redundant.
2. Nothing is static. And the sooner we recognize how impermanent everything is (even the good), the less suffering we endure.
3. Community is essential. Whether it’s family, friends, or coworkers. Bonding with other humans is key.
4. Trust the process. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. It’s not always going to make sense in the moment but the man upstairs has a grander plan.
5. Most people live with sadness and drown out feelings instead of getting quiet and taking a step back. That step back (as scary it feels to pause) is essential to lunge foreward.
6. You can’t escape toxic people- family , friends, coworkers. But how you MANAGE your expectations and reactions are completely up to you.
7. Comparison is the thief of joy. There’s room for all of us. Stay in your lane. Water your grass and quit staring at your neighbors lawn.
8. Growth is beautiful. It will leave you with stories, scars and coping mechanisms. If you don’t give up, you’re living and winning
9. How you do anything is how you do everything - never half ass. Never half show up. Never hide yourself. Never be scared. Step into your power.
10. Life isn’t fair. But always find gratitude and choose love. ♥️

If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever ❤️❤️ .
If y’all knew me y’all would know that Oscar was my life, my rock, and my best friend.
.
My junior year of high school I had my second knee surgery, I was feeling really down about myself, so my mom took me on a trip in the middle of winter in Minnesota while I was on crutches, I wasn’t happy.
.
Without telling me she brought me to a house, brought me inside, and told me to pick which one I wanted, my face lit up like a light bulb!
.
I picked one up, and she asked if that’s the one I wanted, then she handed me Oscar, I feel in love with him instantly, he was mine.
.
We bonded over my injury, with him falling asleep on my chest as I tried to recovery, he quickly became my best friend.
.
As the years went by he never left my side, I brought him everywhere and spoiled him like you wouldn’t believe.
.
Everybody loved him, friends, family, neighbors, and strangers, he just wanted you to let him and be loved!
.
Who would have known that 8 years later, bone cancer was going to take your life!
.
I’m sitting here looking at our pictures and videos together, missing my best friend, and crying because I miss you. I know Heaven is treating you well and you are swimming everyday! I wish I could see you bud!
.
I miss you!
.
I love you, Oscar! ❤️

I was recently hired by Garden Pathways to tell the story of two individuals who overcame difficult life circumstances. These are particularly special projects for me. 2017 was a year of learning, failure, reconciliation, breaking off of things and relationships to focus on the more important aspects of life, which for me is being a better dad and husband to my family.

❤️ I love that I was able to put these stories together to share with our community. I love my city #bakersfield 🌆and these stories remind me that there are huge human needs all around us as well as local organizations that are working hard to meet these needs. @gardenpathways #magdalenhope and my friend @therealbobprater to name a few that are working towards healing and reconciliation to our neighbors in our city.

I love the initiatives of those pushing to make Bakersfield more inviting to creatives and artists. I just hope that us artist, writers, photographers, filmmakers and creatives can keep our eyes open and use our skills to contribute to the present needs that are right next door to most of us.Thank you to those who are setting the example.✌🏼

A confidence for the work I do and confidence for the amazing individuals in L’Arche that I get to call my neighbors, my roommates, and my new friends.
I LOVE what I do. Although the days are quite like a rollercoaster and sometimes it’s hard to see the good and appreciation in your work, but dang ya’ll. I get to live and work with such an incredible group of talented and amazing adults. I’ve been given an opportunity to see past their disabilities and see how humble, loving, accepting, beautiful, and HUMAN these individuals are. This year has given me more confidence to turn my ear to the voices of these individuals that have been silenced by this society and use mine to stand up and advocate with them. I’ve gained confidence in not being afraid of what people think especially when I speak in regards to sharing life in L’Arche because I am LIVING in it. I want to use this voice to share with others a population I love and be proud of where I am in life. •

SO MUCH LOVE. ❤️ ps this photo by @shervinfoto is from when swift was playing in the #mynabirds with me + we were opening for #brighteyes + i was also in the band. 💎💙💎

I am so grateful I was raised in various communities around the United States. I spent my younger years early 1980s in a black community in Philadelphia. My closest friends & neighbors taught me a lot about, food, culture, music and art. I was able to watch break dancers & listen to early Hip Hop & funk that blasted out of the sound systems in my neighborhood. I fell in love with all of it & it’s very much a apart of who I am as a man today. I have a deep love & respect for Black/Afro-American culture. As I grew up & moved around I slowly started to see what racism was. I was unaware of it for most of my early years because I was protected from it. My black neighbors treated my family like their family. I had friends at school that were from all over the world. When I learned that there was a such thing as disliking or picking on someone because of their skin color I was shocked. Imagine that, having such an upbringing where I wouldn’t have even realized if I was experiencing racism first or second hand. I’ll never forget the first time my friend was called a “n*gger” I didn’t know what it meant but I knew it was a hateful word just by the way it was said. Our next door neighbor Mary “Mama Mary” as we called her (Who was like my aunt) told the boy to leave & behave. From that day on anytime I hear anyone refer to another person with an angry racial slur my blood boils. This is why I have written songs about this issue from “Vide Infra” “The Great Deceit” “Hate By Design” and others. It’s a topic that I hold close in my heart as it is such an ignorant, misguided & idiotic way to see people & the world around you. Racism has never gone away especially in the United States our county is steeped in it. These days we are hearing & seeing more of it because of social media as well as people who hold authoritarian positions boldly speaking and acting with a bigoted agenda. Like any learned behavior racism can be unlearned. This will not happen by arguments or debates but by life experience and empathy. We need more compassion and understanding. We gotta wise up people. Oh yeah and Fuck racism!

We lost one of the best men I have ever met this week. My Father In Law, James Murray, was the most Joyful,Kind, positive person I have ever known. Ten years ago, when Jamie and I went out on our first date as teenagers... he brought me to meet his parents. It was nothing formal... we just all knew we would be family right away. He has taught my amazing husband all he knew. This is undeniably the hardest week of our lives... especially for your boys and wife. I have never seen someone who loved their family the way you did. You were the first to call to congratulate us on any accomplishment; even the smallest. I will miss our father and daughter bond. I will miss you making me feel how big your muscles had gotten since the last time I saw you (a week ago). I will miss our meals together (steak and no sides). I will miss our trips to get snow cones in the Jeep and dinners at our favorite restaurants. I will miss your lobster dinners and your HUGE SMILE.

Jamie loved you beyond words. You were his hero and his example. Every tool purchased, every project he worked on he wanted to run it by you for approval. I am so glad you had your time together this past week doing what y'all loved to do most. He will cherish every piece of advice. Thank you for dedicating the bulk of your life to care and love on your family. We will appreciate the contagious positivity for every situation. When I would get frustrated or impatient with something you always made me feel dumb for even worrying because like a father you made us all feel like it would be okay.
There is no words that take away the pain for this loss. Truly you will be missed beyond belief. We know you would want us to celebrate the good and happy times. We will be sure to do that this weekend! I know you are up in heaven teaching our future children how to do all the things you told us you would teach them... how to spit and how to ride horses.

Family, Friends, Neighbors:
The family will hold an Open House, in celebration of James’ life, at Jamie and Paige Murray’s home this Sunday, October 22.

Although people of a different faiths surrounded me, I had my church and my friends who believed similarly as I did and I was totally happy and comfortable in my faith community. Then five years ago, a woman named Emily walked into my church and joined my women’s Bible study group. She had different beliefs than I did. And she became my friend. Ironically, the one thing that I believed was our greatest divide, the Bible, was actually our mutual passion and created a bridge to beautiful and meaningful friendships with her and my neighbors.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over the past six months our friendship has created opportunities to step out of my world and walk into unchartered waters. We’ve done live-streamed Bible studies together, hosted community Bible studies in a barn, and we even wrote a Bible study together along with other women from multiple faiths. These past six months haven’t always been easy and I wasn’t always comfortable. But there has been one common thread that has tied all these adventures together—the Bible. My passion for God’s word has given me the courage to do things outside of my comfort zone. Studying God’s word is my joy. Within its pages I learn about my God; I learn about what he did for me; and, I learn about my freedom in Christ. In the Bible, God tells me I am fully known (1 Cor 13:12) and fully loved (1 John 4:9-10) and there is nothing I need to do to earn His love (Eph 2:8). And once I know that, I am free to fully love my neighbors—even those who think differently.” — Sarah West @sarahkathrynwest

The city of Pittsburgh has suffered a great tragedy and I send all of my love and hopes to every community affected. Please get educated and vote, love is stronger than hate 💛🖤
“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It’s easy to say ‘It’s not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.’ Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.”
-Mister Rogers

I often struggle during times of tragedies like this with what to do. What can I say that hasn’t already been said? I’m slowly starting to realize that I don’t have to say something new, but I can join the ranks and the fight. I’m tired of fear, I’m tired of conflict, I’m tired of hatred. I don’t want to fear for my family, my friends, or my neighbors, but I do constantly, and this fear has recently grown even more real with the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue 2 miles from my campus. It’s devastating for places of designated safety and acceptance to be terrorized—though this shouldn’t be happening anywhere, period. To say that our country’s lack of gun laws is not contributing to this terror is foolish and disrespectful to the many victims of gun violence. While I realize hatred and violence may always exist, I do believe that we, the citizens and our government, have a responsibility to each other to create order and protect one another. You can contribute by voting. Early vote, absentee, or on November 6, whatever you can do, VOTE.

Thank you Pittsburgh for being a city full of far more love than hatred and for becoming a second home to me. To Pittsburgh’s Jewish community, thank you for continuing to be accepting and loving in the face of bigotry and persecution. The loss suffered by the victims and their loved ones will not be in vain; we will remember and we will fight for acceptance and safety.

With Memorial Day right around the corner we are so grateful for the men and women in uniform who protect our freedoms every day. We are grateful for the good health of our cows, our team and our family. We are grateful for the rain we received last night that will help our grass and corn seedlings grow; we are also grateful that it did not rain too much or too hard so as to wash away the delicate sprouts. We are grateful for the happiness that comes with the birth of each new calf and for the responsibility we have to ensure that she has the best life we can give her. We are grateful for our neighbors who are patient with our slow moving equipment and cow smells because they love to live in a community where open spaces are preserved. We are grateful to our parents and grandparent for passing their passion for this life on to us.

What are you grateful for? ‪

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. In honor of that I would like to speak out on a topic which has historically been taboo and yet continues to affect every culture and country around the globe.
________
Unfortunately my life has been touched my suicide far too many times; friends, family, neighbors, and acquaintances.
I have dealt with, and continue to deal with, my own battle with anxiety and depression. There have been times when my anxiety was so crippling and my mindset had been so dark for so long that I could not see a way out. I found myself considering suicide as a means to an end. Thankfully I finally sought the help I needed and was amazed at the outpouring of love and support I received from my friends and family. Like most, I still have my bad days but am proud and grateful to say that suicide has not crossed my mind in many years. I share this not for attention but to open up.
________
It is so easy to feel lost and alone in the world today and I want EVERYONE in my life to know that you are not alone. For far too long mental health has held a stigma and it’s time we change that. Admitting to struggles is a sign of strength, not weakness.
________
I know a single post and a single calendar day is not enough but it is a start. If you find yourself overwhelmed, or just need someone to listen, I am here for you. Regardless of how close we may or may not be please do not hesitate to call on me for help. I want to be a support system for those around me, like so many have been for me.
________
If you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to me or to others in your life, please call 1-800-273-8255 or visit suicidepreventionlifeline.org.
________
Tell your loved ones they are loved, tell your friends you are there for them, and most importantly seek the help that you deserve. 💙

NOTHING. this could've been your son, nephew, cousin, brother or lil’mans off the block. why aren't we protecting our young & preserving the youth? it's the past generation that led this new generation into a world of dishonesty, disloyalty & dishonor. they grew up so fast watching the older niggas have no regard for them. instead of saying ’stay in school lil’man, hit them books’ niggas was throwing them packs, passing them the blunt, letting them sip the henny & embarrassing them cause they haven't gotten a little pussy yet. y'all love saying these white politicians don't care about us but WE DON'T CARE ABOUT US. when we see shit like this instead of tryna save a life, stopping destruction on our streets, we keep it pushing ”oh imma mind my business” like these MFs in the video & when people we grew up with get murdered on our blocks we don't lock the person up who did it to prevent it from happening again or to prevent them from brainwashing these little niggas into thinking that taking a life makes you a real nigga. man, the game is so corny now. you niggas so corny. don't do shit for your hood, no givebacks, don't help out the single moms, don't help the elderly, don't look out for the kids with a future. just murder & scams. & these COPS!! ya’ll can bully up on someone doing bare minimum but why didn't anyone pick this little boy up as he's bleeding from everywhere && TAKE HIM ACROSS THE STREET TO THE HOSPITAL?! where's the compassion for human life?! what were you waiting for?! he didn't deserve this shit! y'all need to see this maybe you'll feel something & STOP! please catch these pussies cause you NY niggas know all 5 of these pussy ass niggas! #JusticeForJunior #JusticeForJr my deepest condolences to his family 🙏🏾💔💔

JESUS!!! 😭🙌I’m crying as I type this post— it’s very emotional for me...sorry it’s long but worth it...My next door neighbor Daniel was at a super low place just 3 1/2years ago when his older brother by 12months had taken life...He was hurting, depressed, addicted, & broken... Daniel, his bro & mom were my neighbors in our first condo Ash & I lived in, but we moved out of our old neighborhood & ironically in the next neighborhood Daniel’s grandparents were our next door neighbors- I knew God wouldn’t let me escape Daniel-I felt God was calling me to truly be his neighbor! Within months after moving there Daniels grandparents also passed away the same year as his brother so they gave their home to Daniel & his mom. God kept prompting me daily to go play basketball on the driveway with Daniel who was 14 then...We would play 1 on 1 and I’d win most of the time 😀 but it was more than b-ball— it was spiritual therapy — God was working in him thru these games and after playing we’d often pray and talk about God and life and I’d always prophesy that his future was bright & he’d be a major leader for God and he’d one day be free from the painful thoughts of the past wounds he’d walked through. The last 3 years I’ve watched Daniel change for the better- we prayed 24months ago that God would make a way for him to someday transfer from public school to @vcstulsa to be in a better environment of hope & faith. Miraculously he won a scholarship (without my doing) & he couldn’t wait to tell me he was coming to Victory! Financially it was gonna be tough for him to stay in another year but a family recently stepped up & have paid for the rest of his schooling! In the last year he has TAKEN OFF! Today felt like a full circle moment as he made that decision to be water baptized here @victorytulsa ((I had a flashback looking at him here & remembering his face the night i was in the hospital with him looking at his brother who had passed))! THERE TRULY IS A GOD WHO CARES & has a plan for our lives when we can’t even see it! This man is marked by God! Who’s waiting on you to be their neighbor? Who needs your love, prayer, encouragement, & prophetic words of who they could become?

In November 2008, our family relocated to California taking a risk and moving to a place where we had no family, no support system and no idea what our future would be. After nearly 10 years, and countless blessings, it is one of the best decisions we have ever made. We have made friends and developed relationships that are so close, they are family. Rebekah has started her own business, made life-long friends and I have been lucky enough to work with and learn from some of the most talented people in the entertainment industry. In our eyes, our time in California has been nothing short of a fairy tale. Full of opportunities and experiences that we never could have dreamed of! As Abby has graduated from college and Katie from high school, the time has come to turn the page to the next chapter of our lives. In the next few days, the John-tinez clan will be embarking on a two day road trip with 3 dogs to relocate to San Antonio, Texas. Closer to Aidan and Tori’s aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins and the love our our extended families. Something the little ones have missed out on for the majority of their young lives. As we prepare to take yet another leap of faith we again have no idea what our future will be, but our hearts are full. Full of the love and gratitude that you have shown us. You are our friends, mentors, co-workers, neighbors and acquaintances, you are all a part of our family. No matter your role, whether in our work or personal lives, we will never forget you and I know our paths will cross again soon! We are going to miss these sunsets!

In the tiny, sleepy mountain village of La Salgar (population- 8 or 9), everyone has always known everyone. They've been and they are more than just neighbors, they're friends, they're family. A family welcoming of everyone who shows up to work at Casa Marcial, more than tripling the number of people in the small village during work hours. This is neny and her family, they've been here for absolute ages. Living right across the street from the restaurant, she's well aware of everything that happens there. She's no nosy neighbour though, much more like a caring and welcoming grandmother. Every little conversation with her is an absolute delight, so much so that "voy a darle las cajas a neny" - "I'm gonna take the boxes over to neny's place" became almost an excuse to get away from the restaurant hustle and bustle and spend 5 minutes having an idyllic chat in the middle of picturesque mountains and open meadows. On my first visit she asked me what city I was from and where I studied. On my last visit she remembered everything I had told her about me perfectly. She knew that I was in love with the mountains, and life in the peaceful mountainside was one of the main reasons I decided to spend a summer interning at casa Marcial. She was full of suggestions, places to go, things to do, mountains to climb to have a nap under a pine tree. There's amazing people all over the world, and it was a pleasure getting to know just some of them. No hard goodbyes, just a smile, a beer and a "see you soon" - the way I like it.

.
Wouldn't that be amazing?
.
And there are so many ways that we can serve more than one person a day. Like doing indexing that could be 100 people at one time!!!! Or last night my friend @tinafbrown and her YW left notes on cars at the temple so I am sure they sent love to dozens of people. @madebykate_ had a pregnant friend and her son over for dinner, there's three served. My friend, Tenille, stopped to help a family on a bike ride and then mowed a neighbors lawn. @teilaj invited her mother in law to join the challenge. @debbielaughlinwriterphotog spent the day spreading smiles and kindness to everyone she came in contact with. @amanda_anderson_beautiful_life let her kids get a cat after begging for it for a long time. @_elisecurtis is doing some awesome giveaways for seats to @saltldsretreat ! Sharing one of the quotes we are sending to everyone would #sharegoodness to everyone that is in your social media world. On Sunday my family delivered cookies to at least 10 homes. My kids took school supplies to their school yesterday which serves their teachers and the students who will receive them. This morning I prayed for Hawaii and all the families that are in the path of the Hurricane.
.
It adds up so quickly. So can we do this? I think we can!!!!

Think of that person or persons that you love the most in your life, you know that deep love that knows no bounds, just that internal deep gratitude and love you have for them. Now look into your eyes and see that same love you have for them for yourself... go ahead... I know it might feel strange at first, but it’s there... love yourself in the same unconditional way that you love them.

Feel that energy of love rise into your heart, inhale breathe this love energy up to the crown of your head... exhale to release it down the backside of the body all the way to the toes... and continue breathing love energy up through the front of the body through the heart up to the crown of the head, and continue in a circular pattern enveloping yourself with this love energy.
When we learn to love ourselves unconditionally that love is released from the energy we created from deep within us, we can share that energy with those around us as it releases outward towards our family, friends, neighbors, into our communities, out towards the next town, the next county, the next state the next country, throughout the world and throughout the universe.

Feel this revolution feed you deep within your soul, notice that you are divine love already just as you are!

Nana, mother, wife, aunt, protector, advocate, foodie, cook, friend-to-many, civic organizer, politician, election commissioner, resort lover, slot-machine aficionado, traveler, commentator... The list could go on and on. It's with great sadness we said our earthly goodbyes to Lena – my dearest Nana – late last Thursday. I'm beyond thankful to have had 28 wonderful years getting to know her, hearing her stories, enjoying her cooking, learning important lessons from her. She shaped many people in her long life, and I'm so lucky to be one of them.
We just celebrated her 95th birthday, and what a birthday it was! She was delighted to see so many friends, neighbors, family members all together in one place. She was honored for her decades of public service, and her unwavering loyalty to the Democratic Party, something she was forever proud of. She loved seeing everyone and reminiscing at this recent celebration. She had a spark that was present until her last breath. Over the past few months, she often would comment that she knew her time here was almost up... But she was sharp, vibrant, powerful, and strong right up to the very, very end. She did not suffer, spending less than a day in the hospital. She passed surrounded by her family... She spent her last night at home (a home she lived in for the past 75 years), and even cooked the pork stuffing ingredients for us on Thanksgiving Eve. When we arrived to start mixing all the fixings, from the arm chair, she even served as our taste tester.

She passed on Thanksgiving, which seems fitting for someone who loved good food, friendship, and conversation as much as she did. I'm sure the fact that it was my grandfather's favorite holiday also had something to do with it; I guess he wanted her company after spending 18 years up above without her there by his side. In this immediate aftermath, I'm struggling to find all the words to describe how amazing and accomplished of a human she was; her impact and influence will live on for a great while. It will take us some time to process life without our matriarch, but we will all fondly remember the legend for years and years to come. I love you so much, Nana.

I lived in a beautiful home w/my Lola, titas, tito, cousins, sister, and mom. We were steps from the beach.
In our town your neighbors all knew each other and you said hello to everyone you saw on the street.
Filipino culture is dictated so much by family ties. It’s common to live with extended family in one home and it’s the norm to see your extended family on a weekly, if not daily basis.
Filipinos are an extremely warm people who will always welcome you into their home and FEED you any chance they get.
Im always grateful that I grew up with a strong sense of my culture and family. I’m so proud to be a Filipina and I tear up thinking about how much I miss my family and country where I was born.
I have come a long way, literally. It’s incredible the path life can take us on. I was an immigrant to this country, lived in the bay for over 20+ years and am now making a life for myself in NYC and have dreams of living abroad.... Less than a month away from the new year and ever so grateful to be evolving and growing as a woman in all areas of my life.
Thank you Universe, Im ready for what’s next ❤️ oh and love and hugs to my cuz @martingray for sending me this

Hello Prayer Warriors, we have a prayer request for a friend of ours Jen, who just found out some horrific news. She’s been estranged from her mother for over 6 months. 2 days ago the neighbors called the local police to do a safety check on our her mom. They found the mom had been alone and passed away over 8 weeks ago. 3 of the 4 dogs in the home had passed during that time. One dog survived w/ eating paper - drinking toilet water.
.
Jen is struggling to deal with this, and being there- having to identify her. Jen is also struggling with the guilt of not checking on her mother, even though it was her mothers choice for the estrangement, guilt from reflecting on their relationship the past 20 years. Jen needs prayers of peace, comfort, love, strength, peace and forgiveness. Lets pray-
.
Father we thank You for Your love for us, and Your forgiveness of our sins though the death of your Son, Jesus- who came to be the comforter, peacemaker and deliverer to us who believe.
Father God, right now we pray over Jen, her Siblings, her Father, Aunt and other family effected by the sad death of Jen’s Mother. .
Jesus, we pray that You direct the Angels of Heaven to come to each member of the family and lay hands on them, and that the love, peace, comfort, joy, hope and strength of the Holy Spirit flow through them and into the hearts and minds of Jen and her family.
We pray over Jen and her family, self-forgiveness so that they do not allow this death in this way to tear at their hearts and minds. Allow Your forgiving spirit to come over them- and let them know they are not to blame for this situation, and to be at peace. .
Jesus, be with Jen, and clear her mind of the memories of identifying her Mom. Give her peace, comfort, strength and stillness with the situation. Let the Holy Spirit be upon her and around her in this grief. Lord God, let the Angels over Animals, be with the dog- and heal it of its wounds, and its emotions of what it did to survive. Let the dog go on to live out its life surrounded by love. We believe and claim you are present with Jen and her family. .
In Jesus name amen.

Thank you for reading this,, PLEASE Pray for @madwoman12373 and my "Uncle Tom" he's a 71 year old Vietnam War Veteran and has been a HUGE part of our family for like 15 years and 2 nights ago Melody and I got home from the KOЯN Concert and parked in the back of the house and we were walking to the patio and on the other side of the pool next to the patio was Tom laying on the ground Bleeding from his nose and mouth not saying a word, I immediately called 911 while Melody was trying to tell Tom that he'll be ok and the Ambulance is on the way. The Neighbors heard Melody crying and came outside as we were waiting for the Ambulance and said they heard a bang noise like someone dropped something about 2 minutes before we pulled up and Melody and I pulled in the back not even 2 minutes later so it was a miracle that we got there minutes after this happened. At the Hospital they found out that Tom had a Stroke with a HUGE amount of blood pooling in the middle of his brain and he had to have immediate brain surgery which the surgeon said went great but he's on life support right now. At the house at first we thought he fell and hit his nose and knocked himself out or something like that but this is completely different and SOOOO MUCH Worse that they don't even compare,,, I'm Asking people to PLEASE PLEASE Pray for Tom. He's a wonderful man that served this country proudly and right now he's in an induced coma on life support and just needs ALL the prayers that he can get. I'm asking you guys to PLEASE PLEASE Pray for him. Thank you for reading this and for your Prayers! (hopefully whoever reads this understood everything because I've been up for a couple days, please send all your prayers out to Tom for God to Heal Him. To celebrate this momentous day, here are 13 things I ❤️ about you.
1. Passion. The things you love, you love dearly. I admire your quick temper that 💥and then disappears. May you use this to quickly get over disappointments in life and continue chasing your dreams.
2. Pluck. Disregard of your size. Making yourself seen and heard no matter your stature will be a tremendous gift.
3. Humor. Puns, melting words together, and enjoying The Office help all of us bond. You bring so much laughter into the house. When we can laugh at ourselves, we can really grow.
4. Bravery. The ability to leave your comfort zones behind is simply inspiring. Many girls stop being brave when the teen years arrive, but I know you are equal to the challenge.
5. Kindness. Willingness to help others or spend time with your young neighbors comes from your heart. I love watching you with young kids, the best of you shines through.
6. Energy. Your spirit is infectious. You can add excitement to any room you enter. Remember how to fill your bucket and keep your energy reserves full.
7. Curiosity. Some want to appear to know everything, the wise ones speak up when they don’t understand. Your willingness to learn will make you incredibly strong. Keep asking questions.
8. Justice. May you never lose your willingness to fight for a cause and make your voice heard.
9. Sleep. It’s a gift to be able to give into the gods of 💤 and know that it will all look better in the morning.
10. Books. Reading isn’t just an escape, it’s a chance to connect with the “other.” Keep reading, it can make the world a smaller place.
11. Determination. “I do myself” was your catch phrase at 2. It’s served you well. Try, fail, and always move forward.
12. Loyalty. The way you embrace family life makes my heart melt. You look after S with warmth and intelligence. You are a good friend and a wonderful daughter.
13. Joy. The way you give yourself completely to an experience makes me so envious. Some people go a lifetime without this. Find a way to do more of what you love.
Happy Birthday my sweet girl.

Who ever thought being a grown up came with complications right? Financial, health, family & love? Just life in general. You wanted to grow up so bad when you where younger but you just never stopped to think, what it would actually be like? even after you saw your families struggles you just where so stubborn!! Now you are here in adulthood feeling lost and wondering where did it go wrong?? Why did I want to grow up so fast? What the heck was I thinking? Is it possible to go back in time?
I am now in my 20’s, a MOM (no i dont regret my children I love every inch of them) , have health issues, financial issues!! Just issues after issues..... why?????? Can I atleast put a pause if I cant return back in TIME??? AAAH!!!!! I know im not the only one, but i do feel alone 😶. To be honest I want to tell the young me stop ✋🏻 alot of what you are thinking can wait, who would have known at the age of 12,13,14,15 and so on that time is so precious and the moto “you only live once” is something so real!!! Just Dont fuck up so much that your future can be ruined but just LIVE LIVE LIVE!!!!!!!!! Dont be in so much rush to be a grown up enjoy your kid/teenage life! Dont get me wrong I love that I can go to the store and buy that bottle of wine 🍷 😆! But man o man do I miss eating anything I want without worrying about health issues or gaining weight, I miss going on random bike rides meeting with buddies at the park, going to my neighbors to play with there kids, not caring to match my clothes, coming home from school to watch the after school cartoons! Eating cereal for every meal 😝 just the little things u never thought u would miss!!! Just who would have thought it would get so complicated with the years that go by! 😣 I miss you kid/teenage me. -Sincerely, The 24yr old you.

In case you were wondering what Eid is and since I’m officially a homeschooling mama now, let me tell you a little bit about my culture and how I grew up. Eid el Adha is a feast of sacrifice, the most sacred holiday in Islam. It commemorates Abraham’s incredible faith and obedience in God when he was called to sacrifice his only son. At the very last moment before the knife was about to cut his willing child at the altar, God turned Abraham’s knife and told him to sacrifice a lamb instead. On Eid, millions of sheep are honored and sacrificed in the most humane way. 1/3rd of the meat is given to those in need (sadaka), 1/3rd is given out to friends and neighbors, and the last 1/3rd is kept amongst the family to enjoy for months to come. Since I’m Algerian, I mainly know our customs and my people don’t leave a single part of the animal to waste. I love that because my mama was the biggest hippy I know. One of my favorite summers ever spent in Algeria is when I got to be there for Eid and take part in the entire process, from tending to the sheep to the slaughtering to cutting the wool and cleaning the insides and helping my Mama and Baba and Amtou and Yema cook the different parts for different occasions. It gave me a totally different perspective on how to honor and respect an animal’s life. I’ll never forget how much I cried because it was all so beautiful. The past few days I thought I would be ok but I can honestly say that they have been the hardest days since my mama’s passing. I felt her absence so profoundly, I wanted to call her to cry to her about how I’m feeling, but I can’t. There’s this odd sense of finality & anger & hurt & it’s a transition & I’ve just wept. A mother needs her mother. You want to know what it feels like to live an ocean & languages & countries away from your bestest friends, your family, the people that understand you, the place your mama is buried? It hurts deeply. I need you mama, I’ll never ever be the same again, so I’m having to get to know myself, living a life without you in it. Nhabek toujours ya mama. 🌙🕌🌙🕌🌙

As far as ways to close out your year go, moving to a new house only to hitch a ride to the hospital on your first night and have one heck of a baby scare was, shockingly, not on our list - but it IS full of excitement, I’ll give you that. The good news is that 2 days in these sexy L&D digs have given me lots of time to reflect on what is most important in life. Not to preach and nothing new or groundbreaking here, but if you have your health, and the health of those you love so dearly, and some supportive kickass family and friends, you are rich beyond measure. Nothing matters but kindness, faith, and maybe also knowing when to slow the eff down. Thank you to all who have swarmed me with love, we will get to meet our dude much sooner than we expected (though not today, you hear that baby? and hopefully not next week...) and in the meantime I’m going to stop sweating things that don’t really matter - a good lesson for us all. To our brand new neighbors who live on the street most famous for it’s holiday lights, sorry for the 3AM action, and hope you liked our impromptu emergency vehicle light show, that still counts as festive, right? And those of you who have been asking me for bump pics these past several months, this is as much as you’re going to get, lol. Wishing you all health, PERSPECTIVE, joy and peace of mind in the new year. Take care of each other, y’all. 🥳 🙏🏼 🤷🏻‍♀️ #hesfinedontworry #thisconcludesmyTEDtalk

What leads to “luck" in our lives is often a combination of timing, relationships, hard work, and (if you believe in a higher power) God’s will for your life.
When I think of my family situation, it can be tempting to say I may have “lucked out” with such supportive parents and an incredible upbringing that fostered my growth into the woman that I am today — and the woman I am becoming. I have more support than I deserve... However, what led to my development and experiences resulted from my parents' conscious effort to positively impact my life for the better. The decisions they made had an enormous impact on me. The decisions their parents made had a huge impact on them. The decisions my ancestors made to come to the United States trickle down to this very day.

The decisions we make impact future generations. Whether or not we have children is a bit irrelevant — If you do, it only intensities this fact. I can almost guarantee that others outside your own immediate family have made a significant impact in your life as well (teachers, coaches, friends). Our lives are not simply lived for us despite what we may think... At the end of life, if we only live for us and us alone, your purpose will begin and end there... The decisions we make have repercussions for those we love. Whether it be our children, friends, neighbors, or “followers”. When we decide to disregard a standard of morality, not care how decisions impact others, turn away from honesty and truth, and live a life centered around only “getting ahead”… It impacts others. You never know what that one instagram comment may mean to someone. You never know how that word of encouragement may do for another. You never know if that word may be the one that saves a broken life from being snatched away in despair by suicide… 🙏🏼 My life and the decisions I make will affect my family, my future children, and the future generation.
Who wants to live a life that makes another person “lucky”? ♥️☺️

"A dirty #outdoorkitchen is a great place for our microbiome, and to make #plumcider. Bare feet, unwashed hands, handpicked fruit yeasts, previously dispatched ducks and chickens and all their goodly internal microbes, the nearby humanured soil and its diverse ecologies, a trillion other inputs carried in by wind, gifting friends, untold wildlife including a brown snake that came into this #rewilding kitchen biome last night. All this unsterilised life makes us well, never needing industrial medicines, always feeling vital and alive. Today we are pasteurising gifted #plums in a #steamjuicer. This process allows us to extract the juice effortlessly. No cutting up fruit is needed. We add raw #unwashed #fruit to reboot with wild yeasts into the fermenting jar once it is full and the juice cool, then top up the airlock with water and away it goes. We will bottle in a month using the same bottles and twist top lids we always use, not using any sterilising products and we'll be drinking #plumcider throughout the winter, giving not a single cent to the alcohol industry"

Swing those kitchen cabinets open. Look way in the back for those dishes that you typically save for a “special” occasion and let your family know that doing everyday life with them is what’s most special.

It’s just as simple to grab glass goblets as it is to use red solo cups and every once in awhile, pizza served on crystal and enjoyed by candlelight speaks love to our family in fresh, new ways.

Portrait and Christmas Wrapper

As children (before), we always fantasize and imagine how Santa Claus looks like. Or if he's even real. But as we grow up, we didn't realize that the people around us - our family, our friends, our neighbors, and even strangers, are the real-life Santa Claus.

When my mother was diagnosed with a gallbladder infection last September, I was so desperate to do everything I could to save her. I love her more than anything so I can't lost her or even anyone from my family. Hindi ko po talaga kakayanin.
She needed to get operated soon and I dont have enough money or savings, and I'm just starting in the industry. I was so down back then and about to lost all my hopes in the world. So I asked for help. And people were very very very kind. Blessings poured to me immediately with that FB post of mine and other posts of my friends, people that I worked with, relatives, co-workers, colleagues. Even strangers contacted me and gave me freelance works. And that really moved me to tears.

As a simple Christmas gift to everyone who helped me and my mother in any ways, I made you guys portraits and personalized Christmas wrappers. :) This is too small and simple compared to everything you gave me and did for me. But this is to let you know that I appreciate everyone of you and all the help. You guys are real life Santa Claus. MARAMING MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO.

Thank you everyone for saving my Mama. You made our Christmas extra special and I'll never forget all the nice things you did and gave to me. May all of you continue helping others. And change the world by having faith in humanity.
Merry Christmas. :) #christmas #christmascard #christmaswrapping #art #artph #design #designph #portrait #love #hope #thankyou #illustration #red #green #santaclaus #family #care #heart

Now we can talk about life, sneakers, and just stupid shit. Zeba, you are also amazing, I honestly can't think of a better person for Rob than you. You may notice I post a lot of shots of people from Uganda. I love this part of the world for many reasons. After my first trip here, I remember describing Uganda to friends back home, "It's like you're really experiencing planet earth for the first time." It's just so raw, there are so many areas you can visit where it is completely commonplace to not see another motorized vehicle for a few hours, much less, power lines or any other sign of modernity other than bicycles and plastic jerry cans. There's a sense that you are experiencing life not much different than it would have been lived for the hundreds of years before this present age. And the people, then there's the people. So humble, while certainly suffering from disease and the struggles of extreme poverty, there's a joy they possess that is unmistakably genuine and from their heart. Perhaps it's because when you don't really possess anything in the material realm, and you're living meal to meal, you grow to depend on your family and your neighbors, and thus your happiness is derived not from your circumstances or possessions, but from sticking together and knowing that you're not in this alone. The Ugandan people and this photo remind me of these lyrics, "Oh, my soul, sometimes we don't know what to do, we work so hard being tough on our own. But now it's me and you. We all fall on hard times, but you don't have to stand up all alone. Just put your hand in mine, and climb on a back that's strong." —Shawn Colvin ❤️🌍

Some call it Mom Guilt, but I call it worry. It really started way before I became a mom. One of those things I just kind of pushed under the rug like most people do sins of the heart. But it seemed to come full fledge as I started to worry about my kids, their health, our life as a family. Although I knew, ultimately, the Lord is sovereign and that he holds us and sustains us. I still somehow clenched for the control of our lives and the outcome of our circumstances. I’m thankful for the sanctifying process and the ability to change. What beautiful freedom we have when we let go of worry and cling with confidence to God’s Word instead of our flesh and need to be in charge. What a more freeing way to mother when I let go of guilt and worry and replace with with trust and prayer for my children. How much more application of the gospel do we show our children, neighbors and friends when let go of control and point to Jesus as the source of our strength and peace. “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16”

Also wanted to take a quick minute to say thank you to everyone who reached out about the doc band. I honestly had no idea how many of you would offer kind words after a simple picture. But it really just affirms how absolutely beautiful this space can be and how much love there is.

Thank You to all the family, friends, and neighbors that joined us yesterday for our fathers Funeral Service. Despite a huge snow storm we all came together over highways and roads both near and far to celebrate the life of Charles E. Graham. I was proud yesterday to be the son of a good man, and I felt privileged to carry forward the Graham name. The qualities my father displayed during his life were the same ones I witnessed from my family, friends, and neighbors. Determination, love, kindness, spirituality, wisdom, integrity, community, loyalty, and a spirit to get things done with the help of God despite all challenges.

There were several important lessons I took from yesterday as well. Even in death my father still taught us a last lesson: **Family is not determined by how much you see someone or based solely on last name. Family includes blood, friends, and neighbors who consistently have your best interest and care in mind. Yesterday I witnessed true family in all forms and was humbled and joyous all at once. The day was enhanced by the presence of everyone who was there. Thank You.

From "trash" to "treasure" -- 8 year old Charlie got ADOPTED!!! 💜💛💚 As the saying goes, one person's trash is another person's treasure. And it's especially sad when it applies to living beings. When Charlie was left behind at a gas station by his former people he probably felt a little bit like trash. So you can imagine how he feels now with his new family! Charlie is a treasure and he is being treated like one. Charlie is heartworm positive (which was disclosed prior to his adoption) and his new mom Kristen has so generously and lovingly taken Charlie into her care. He's been given so much! Not only the love of a family, but also all the vet care he could possibly need. Charlie has most certainly found himself a treasure, too!
Kristen wrote, "Charlie is a happy guy and is getting along really well with my other dogs. My friends and neighbors think he is a very special guy who just enjoys everything.

Since he will be crate confined through the heartworm treatment, I am keeping him outside as much as possible. He absolutely loves rolling in the yard, tearing apart toys and leading the squirrel patrol. Charlie is a neighborhood favorite and gets so excited when he has human and canine visitors. He was probably an outside dog, but has not had any problem taking advantage of the indoor life. I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up Charlie had crawled between my arms, wrapped his paws around my hand and had his head on my cheek. He is such a sweet dog!
Charlie is my third senior dog I've adopted. I know you hear this all the time but it is worth repeating, rescuing a senior dog is so fulfilling regardless of the time, health issues or challenges that come with them. Meet @tareet Owner of @bamboothaikitchen Restaurant and one of the most stylish women we know! We love her BEE message. “Bee Thankful! Gratitude makes you happy! Have you ever let your thoughts/mind wonder? Like when you’re just sitting with your family/friends/neighbors or co-workers, and you’re just taking in all the lovely moments and their beautiful smiles. All you can think about is how lucky you are to have known these people. Life can be so busy but when you pause and recognize all of the wonderful people/things in your life, you feel happier. Being thankful and appreciative keep us focused on what is already good in our lives, and opens up the doorway to more goodness to flow into our lives. Do appreciate things, big or small, and learn to appreciate people even when they say hurtful things. You grow, learn and get stronger from hurtful criticism too.”

As I start the new year, I would like to thank my family and my friends who put up with my roller coaster life of retail. I would also like to thank those whose daily contributions are key to Verdalina’s progress and whose help I couldn’t survive without.

Thank you Marty Mitchell for creating magical shop windows. I am so proud of your work, and I know you bring joy to all passersby on Broad Street. Thanks to my incredible and beautiful staff, Tasha and Robin, who make every customer feel welcome with a sense of belonging. To Rachel for her social media skills and patience as she works hard to represent my voice and our aesthetic every day. To my graphic designer, Stewart, for her talent and her grace under pressure. For my customers who believe in quality over quantity and inspire me to find the good stuff. Thank you to the sales reps and designers that I have the pleasure of working with season after season. I love getting to know you and having relationships beyond business. To my retail community and my neighbors on Broad Street that think beyond their own stores and work for the betterment of us all. You are changing what it means to be part of a business community with your collaborative spirit and support.

May 2019 bring growth, good health, peace and a new puppy! —DB

There's no turning back.
Many things in the past track us down when our guards are down and our backs are turned, trying to blind side us and distort our vision and thinking, leaving us ready for failure.
You are a winner. You have purpose in life. You are important no matter how poor or rich you are, or where you come from or once did. Be thankful for what you had and for what you are left with, even if it's a promise. Just don't turn back.

Every June, my dear friend Rod Vilhauer participates in “harvest” at his family farm in Oklahoma. His family is one of 4 original Oklahoma “Sooners”...the name associated with original settlers who came to Oklahoma during the Land Rush in 1889.
This year, Oklahoma had a severe drought and the wheat crop they were harvesting yielded very little. Rod’s brother decided in spite of the drought to begin to plant Sesame. Neighbors around him told him it was useless because of the drought. He planted anyway! THIS PICTURE is the Sesame 2 months later!
As a farmer, NOT PLANTING isn’t an option! No matter what the conditions are, every good farmer knows, he has got to plant if he has any hope in reaping a harvest!! Like the farmer, every BELIEVER must know, that no matter what the SEEN conditions of your life, you must sow what you have to sow in the seen into the UNSEEN, so that what is unseen will BE SEEN!!!
Remember our job is to believe...God’s job is to do the impossible! But between our believing and God being able to do the impossible, WE must TAKE ACTION! Let this picture be a visual reminder that the Bible is true no matter what the conditions look like!!
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

COOL is not the Highest virtue - WHEN we make our decisions based on being cool we will be trashing the actual HIGHEST VIRTUES — FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE and the greatest of these being LOVE.
Cool is great but it’s not the greatest COMPASS for our lives.
Paul in his letters he wrote to the Thessalonians - He was thanking God for some of the things He saw in there life - and heres what he said.

We recall, in the presence of our God and Father, your work produced by faith, your labor motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Thessalonians 1:3

We as believers our work should not be driven by PEOPLE PLEASING, and solely a desire of being COOL.. but rather

FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE.
Faith that God will keep His promises.
Hope that Jesus is coming back
Love for God and ourselves, neighbors.

That’s what God has called us to be DRIVEN BY.
Too Often we spend our times trying to Cultivate cool, rather than trying to reveal the person of Christ.
Such an honor to preach God’s Word at @yacollege last week. Praying much favor over their whole family.

Being OK with setting boundaries is something that I have to remind my clients of every day - especially during The Holidays. The expression, “Good fences make good neighbors,” is true.
_________
Setting boundaries gives you the limits you need in order to define your sense of self. They help you set the dividing line between your comfort level and everyone elses. Knowing that you don’t like to talk about certain issues, engage in physical touch, eat specific foods, etc. during the holidays is your boundary, even if others feel different.
_____
When someone crosses a boundary, it can cause anxiety, frustration, sadness, and anger.

When you start to set boundaries in the different areas of your life (Love, work, play, mind, body, soul), you will begin to feel more grounded and balanced, which can help increase your self-esteem.

It can be uncountable when you start to set boundaries that you haven't set before. Here are 6 things you can remind yourself of:

1.) It’s ok to say NO
2.) I have a right to my feelings
3.) I have the right to express my needs honestly
4.) I have the right to separate myself
5.) I have the right to stay in my routines

What boundary tips do you use? ✨

After all the dishes are done and everything is put back just so, I can't help but sit, think, and be grateful. And I know this with all my heart: women need each other. Oh yes, these women come to get tips and get some new info on techniques and all, BUT WHAT HAPPENS is community and connection and shared life. We talk about our hair, our shoes, and our concealer. We talk about seasons and children and husbands and the church. We serve each other. And we eat together. And isn't that what hospitality boils down to anyway? Hospitality is "where strangers become neighbors and neighbors become the family of God." {Rosaria Butterfield} Love Welcome Serve.

neighbors, family, and teachers you love the most
and how they helped you figure out
what you love
what you're doing
and who you are
in your time here
it's your time after all”
— Lin-Manuel Miranda
.
After reading these words of Lin’s this morning, I spent the whole day thinking about how many amazing teachers I’ve had over the years. I was especially thinking about my wonderful teachers during my four years of study at the Grand Central Atelier @grandcentralatelier
.
I want to extend a special thank you to Ted, Jacob, Travis, Colleen, Camie, and Cheh. You all shaped me to be the painter I am today. Not only did you teach me pretty much everything I know about painting (and sculpting), but you helped me figure out what I love and who I am as an artist. No words could ever express my gratitude or how much you all mean to me. 🙏🏻
.
And to those wondering how I learned how to paint flowers... I learned how to paint and sculpt the figure from the brilliant artists mentioned in this post. I applied my five years of studying the human figure to painting flowers.
.
If you want to learn how to paint, I recommend seeking out these teachers. It has been the privilege of my life to study with them.
.
I would be remiss to post this without an extra shoutout to @edwardminoff, because not only has he taught me everything I know about painting, but he continues to critique and help me with the most generous guidance and wisdom imaginable. Also, run to his Instagram now and check out the most exciting project he is working on, if you don’t already follow him!
.
I love you guys with my whole heart. Thanks for everything. And sorry/not sorry for this sappy post.
❤️❤️❤️K
.
P.S. thank you to my other teachers from my time at GCA, and the dozens of other teachers that I have been so fortunate to have help guide my path. I promise you are not taken for granted. So much love to you, too! XO

Looking Back At these photos , I can say Even Though My Pops didn’t Support Me becoming an Entertainer or Support some of the Life Decisions I made becoming the man I am today, I can never Say he didn’t show me what living life was really about . He would always take my family on road trips , show us how to survive and many tweaks to life, from teaching me how to Drive , to graduating high school with a 3.33 grade point average. Pops Always kept me sharp and always taught me to work for what I want. I remember goin around my neighborhood and asking my neighbors to mow their lawns. Pretty soon I was mowing every lawn down the block lol . I wish we could get back to being as close as we were. Love you Pops and thanks for helping my mom give birth to A Legend 💫 hopefully you see this 🙏🏾
