And in fact, exercise doesn’t impact weight loss as much as people tend to think. If you want to lose weight, you HAVE to dial in your nutrition.

That being said, there are of course a zillion other reasons to exercise, and here’s some tips for choosing where to start.

1️⃣ First and foremost, do what you enjoy. The most effective regimen is one that you’ll stick to, and the only way to do this in the long term is to enjoy it. So whether it’s walking, climbing, lifting, handstanding, DDR, whatever. Have fun doing it.

2️⃣If you don’t have a ton of time and want the most bang for your buck, focus on strength training. You’ll create sexy shape to your body, strengthen your bones, and increase your body’s daily caloric need.

3️⃣Do cardio only as needed. Most people tend to go straight to cardio for fat loss. It’s great for your brain and your heart, but it’s not the best option for fat loss and can actually stunt it if overdone. Again, if you love it, do it. If not, don’t go killin’ yourself on the elliptical. Focus primarily on strength training and throw in a couple short interval sessions each week. 🏃‍♀️ 🚲 🧗‍♀️🏋🏼‍♂️🤸🏼‍♂️⛷🏊🏻‍♀️

The pic on the left was when I was in college. I’d skip breakfast, wasn’t getting enough protein and eating too many carbs, plus drinking alcohol (I was in college 🤷‍♀️). I was still active, but doing the typical cardio, with minimal weights. .

On the right, I am eating 4 complete meals per day, with an emphasis on high-quality protein, healthy fats, and varying carbs. I don’t drink but a couple times per month on special occasions and it’s still 1-2 drinks, not binging. Workout wise, I do hardly any cardio (just walking my dogs every now and then) and instead focus on lifting heavy weights and rotating between muscle groups throughout the course of the week.

Change doesn’t happen overnight and the most important part of any goal is to plan and prepare! I wasn’t born the way I am today. I had a goal, I made a plan, I prepared and stuck to it can you can too! .

I am a mother of a wild 2 year old boy. I have three jobs. I am a SINGLE MOM. I eat “right” ALL the time and workout when I can. I’VE GOT ALOT GOING ON!! As you can tell there’s not much time for working out in my hectic schedule, so I do what i can and I control what I can. I can ALWAYS control what goes in my mouth. It is not hard to eat healthy. I eat ON THE GO. I order from Starbucks, I stop at taco drive thrus, I purchase pre made meals, I pack snacks, and the biggest thing I do is stay CONSISTENT.

Right now I’m averaging 1-2 workouts a week.... I know I know 🤦🏼‍♀️ I haven’t done cardio in over 12 weeks bc I had a fractured toe. This is COMPLETE PROOF that abs are made in the kitchen or @starbucks lol you guys know I loveeeeeee that place.
