The joy that we recognize in one another, a result of our muscles and flesh tightening to cater to neurons firing in pattern recognition of a past response to similar stimulation’s and so on and so on. Until we no longer are able... Here is my Boompa, his beautiful and brilliant smile shining here on his 90th birthday, just over one year ago. What a gift to have 91 years on this planet... I’ll never forget his stories. The stereotypical Italian immigrant gesticulations when he talked, further emphasizing his points and passion. My Boompa was a very passionate man. He is, as he lives inside of the minds and hearts of all who know him. I believe he would have lived well into his late nineties. Maybe 100. May we all have so many years of health... In December he fell ill and his health deteriorated rapidly. He suffered so much over the last few months, often asking “how long is this gonna last? When will it be over?”. I can’t imagine what that must’ve felt like. My Boompa loved being active, playing tennis, going to coffee clatch with fellow WW2 Vets and friends. One of the best lessons I learned from my Boompa was “Always look out for number 1”... He would say this over and over again to me growing up. It wasn’t a selfish exclamation, rather a realistic piece of advice.. because you can’t expect other’s to have your best interest in mind. Take care of you and yours. You and your Family, by blood and by love... This whole time has been very surreal, and I’m not even sure I’ve fully grasped the reality of his passing. What I do know is that I am so grateful for my Boompa and the love he showed me, in his own special way. My heart breaks remembering how he would ask when I was going to move back home, every time I’d visit. I hope he knows how much I loved him, and how special he was to the world. I love you Boompa, I just might turn into a giant butterscotch candy for all the ones I’ll be eating today in your memory and honor. I’ll think of your smile and be joyful for having lived to recognize the pattern of your joy in my own self.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I read a post by @before5am that got me all fired up this morning. Just finished a solid workout and decided to share what got me in the gym today despite having no desire to do so:
Repost from @before5am -
I'm going to make it very simple for you...
~
Nothing is going to work for you, until you show up and put in the work.
~
You can keep searching the internet for inspiration and life hacks and you can keep reading every personal development and financial planning book on the planet... but that's not going to solve your problem.
~
Your problem is you want to know the short cut, you want to know how to get rich quick and you want to feel significant without ever doing anything meaningful and significant.
~
If that's what you want, you'll spend every last dollar you have searching for an answer, idea or strategy that doesn't exist.
~
There are no short cuts, you've got to show up every day and put in the work, year in and year out. End of story.
~
The best strategies, success tips and advice won't work if you don't back that up with consistent effort and work over a long period of time.
~
It doesn't matter if we're talking about your body, your business, your relationship or even growing your social media following, nothing works if you aren't committed and dedicated enough to put in the work to make things happen.
~
I get that there are many things to learn and so many ideas & strategies to take on board, but my advice as always is to get the basics right and focus on being consistent and showing up every day.
~
Don't waste your time and energy hoping for an easy way, there isn't one. Put in the work for a decade or two and you'll see the results you want to see and build the life you want to live. It's that simple, but it's definitely not that easy!
~
It's time to take responsibility for your life and do what needs to be done!
~
Get to work!

It was a privilege to shoot the last ever wedding at this beautiful country house in Balmakewan the other weekend. Cornfields. Double rainbow. Abandoned, over grown greenhouses. Fairy lights in the trees. The weather was dull all day, until around 8pm when there was exactly 1 minute of golden, setting sun beaming through the trees. Just 60 seconds. Hustled the couple out of their marquee and immortalised this impermanent flash of beauty in the great out doors with them canoodling through the sun beams. Total magic and one of my proudest shots to date. (And yes I spend the rest of my time researching serial killers and the supernatural. Doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the wonders of Mother Nature and modern romance.)👻☠️🤷🏼‍♀️🤟🏼💍🎥 .

I was interviewed by our inspiring student and friend Melissa last week for her podcast (stay tuned for details on how you can listen to this soon), and we discussed how everyone wants a quick fix. The current mindset seems to be I drank one smoothie, why aren’t I 5 kilos lighter? I had a single goji berry, why aren’t I radiant? I did a single meditation on an app, why the hell aren’t I enlightened?

A daily practice of Vedic Meditation means we dive into the true essence of ourselves, our souls, a higher consciousness, whatever the heck you want to call it, it’s beyond the mind that creates all the problems we experience. And a tiny dive into that, every day, twice a day, means we begin to reset the paradigm through which we live. The love we seek we slowly realise is within us. The world in which we operate is a projection of our own state of minds. Angry minds experience an angry world. Loving minds experience a loving world. And then over time, the barriers which we created to protect ourselves from that which we can’t define, begin to dissolve. Not in a weird losing of boundaries and our sense of self, but in a graceful, bringing our true selves to our days kind of way.
It doesn’t happen overnight. That’s part of the delight, so we can be witness to it, play a part in it, and that it lasts.
Let’s stop looking for quick fixes, and start looking for sustainable solutions, not just for our food industries, our fashion industries, ALL our industries that are depleting the planet, but for our own selves, for our minds, for our hearts.
Sent with love,

Jac x

LIVING is always full of uncertainties, but when you’re grateful enough to be one of the privileged humans on this planet with a roof over your head, you humble yourself. take a step back. and realize things usually aren’t so bad. “we’ll find a way.” this apartment also welcomed a sweet pup into our lives, who changed our lives forever for the better. nothing beats coming home to a 57lb furry potato absolutely smothering you with slobbery kisses and unboundless positive energy. oh, and of course that big potato quickly claimed the retired fireplace for his very own. this neighborhood, all of its flora, fauna, character, AND the characters, always felt like an exciting place to discover. while I’m more than ready to start anew, settle into a new routine, and embrace the change to come, I’m holding strong to the memories of our home for the last year and a half, while looking forward to what lies ahead.

TITLE: Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot
#JoaquinPhoenix is one of my favorite actors on the planet. #JonahHill isn’t. Yet both of them work wonders separately and together in #GusVanSant’s latest movie, #DontWorryHeWontGetFaronFoot.
“Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot” is a jolly good time. Perhaps not a great movie, but as far as I’m aware, it’s Van Sant’s first movie that’s worth a damn since #Milk.
Phoenix is a revelation here as John Callahan, a paraplegic whose battle with alcoholism led to his ultimate talent: being a cartoonist. Phoenix’s performance is my favorite kind; it’s the kind of character who changes more and more the deeper we get into the movie. In fact he changes along with the movie, which changes constantly.
Hill is someone I’ve never really liked, but I can admit he’s talented. And I loved him here as Donny, John’s gay sponsor. He almost steals the show at times, and the two not only play off of each other wonderfully but they also have moments that cut deep.
The movie is funny, as intended. I also love the score by #DannyElfman, the use of Callahan’s cartoons, and the side performances from #JackBlack and #RooneyMara. But I kind of wish it had cut deeper. Only in the film’s last half hour does the film reach its dramatic heights, when I kind of wish it would’ve had a more steady balance of drama and comedy all along.
Not to mention, I think the movie is kind of all over the place from a narrative standpoint, and it has maybe 4 endings too many.
But still, Phoenix and Hill give two of the year’s best performances so far, in a movie that is so wonderfully entertaining that its flaws don’t really matter. Here I am griping about how the film needs to be more of a downer. But considering just how much Callahan went through, perhaps a happy ending isn’t such a bad thing.
GRADE: B+

Everyone who has ever met Nash in real life knows that he is probably the kindest, most caring and selfless person on this planet. Sometimes I like to just sneak stare at him and remind myself how lucky I am to have him by my side. Despite Nash’s amazing persona the point of this caption is still to come. I didn’t meet Nash by following the expectations of this world, nor by sitting in the confines of my home, I met him by following one of my dreams and goals, by leaving my comfort zone and by being open for change. Little did I know that by taking the first step everything else would fall into place. I am not saying it was handed to me on a golden platter, everything took effort, time and commitment but that first step of moving to the States as an Au Pair primarily to improve my English lead me to living in a VW bus called Rusty, marrying my soulmate and starting my own travel agency @bare.escape .
Sometimes I can’t even deal with all the blesssings I have received over the course of the last 7 years all because I decided to take that first step.
I guess all I am trying to say is even if you don’t know how to reach your goals or dreams it is better to take that first step not knowing what is to come next than not taking a step at all.

Just about two months ago @abbeysj and I started a process of finding a new place to call home and to do what we love the most. Over the last two months I have had the honor of being able to go to some amazing churches in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Texas and some other locations. The whole time there was much prayer and counsel from mentors throughout this whole decision process.
After a few weeks God gave confirmation for where the next step was! With that I am excited to announce we are going to both be moving to Salt Lake City (seriously the coolest place on the planet) to take on @capitalstudents_ at @capitalchurch and we are so excited about t!
This has been super fun and I am so excited for all God has in store! Salt Lake City has a special place in my heart already and I can’t wait for what is to come! God takes us on journeys and adventures and this season has been one of them!
Let’s do this!

My heart aches as it brakes to say goodbye to the last male white rhinoceros on the planet 😢
How have we come to this?
How can humanity be so unconscious as to wipe out another species for the sake of a hefty wad of cash on their kitchen table?
Is there really no other option for these people?

How do we stop this from happening to the elephants? Precious earth keepers, big friendly giants 🐘 I pray deeply that my species may wake up quickly to this monstrous behaviour and protect your species from this ever happening to you! I pray that we can find these people new ways to work and for them to be able to support their family’s through working with the land and nature not against her.
150 years ago there was over 1,000,000 northern black and white rhinos. Now there is 2 left. What the actual flip?? This is a big f$%k!*g problem!
100 elephants are being killed daily for their tusks! Not their meat or their leather. Their flipping tusks. This huge wise old teacher dies for one part of its body to be sold and turned into a flipping ornament 🙈🔫 It’s wakey wakey time fam! Share what you can, teach what you can, do it with grace and compassion and from the depth of your heart. No more violence. Kill em with kindness 😳weird saying...

Over the last few weeks, in particular since Blue Planet 2, @plasticfreedom_ has inspired me hugely to take a step towards becoming plastic free to help save our planet. I’ve started off just by taking a few simple and easy steps:
1. I switched from bottled shampoo to a shampoo bar (@lush )
2. I purchased a stainless steel water bottle to cut out single use plastic water bottles (@chillysbottles )
3. I use tote bags for weekly shops and try my best to buy plastic free packaged foods (although I am still massively working on this one)
4. I use a stainless steel coffee thermo flask which I can take into any coffee shop for caffeine goodness (and even receive a discount in selected coffee shops)
5. Say no to the plastic straw
6. I use a mooncup instead of tampons (one for the ladies - not only is this better for your body as it is free from chemicals but also reduces masses of plastic waste and last for years savings lots of £££) These are just a few easy and simple changes that can be made by everyone which will have such a huge impact on our planet! Visit @plasticfreedom_ for more tips and tricks and check out her blog for top tips for going plastic free (https://plasticfreehobbit.wordpress.com/)

One of the big changes for American women over the last 50 years has to do with our capacity to create and manage our own finances. What hasn’t happened yet, however, is women taking enough interest in the economy of the country. When we think of “women’s issues”, we don’t usually think of military – although we should, because more women and children have died in wars than have combatants. And we don’t usually think about economics, ether — although women are carrying the biggest burden in terms of the inevitable consequences of an unjust economy. That is why a brush-up on economics, which isn’t nearly as intimidating as it seems at first, is part of developing conscious citizenship. There is an article in the New York Times today by Paul Krugman called “For Whom the Economy Grows” that is a good start. When women start addressing the financial inequities within our system, things will change. Let’s not look away, girls. This is our lives, our planet, and our children who are suffering at the behest of a 20th-century economic paradigm that is neither just nor sustainable. Let’s educate ourselves and start to speak up. We are very good about starting nonprofits and so forth. Values, we have. But no amount of private charity can compensate for a basic lack of social justice. We have to take on the whole system. It’s not enough to just clean up the mess; we have to start making sure there isn’t so much of a mess to begin with. It’s a new day, and we should take responsibility in some of the areas we have traditionally shied away from. My book “A Politics of Love”will be out soon. There is a chapter called An Economics of Love, and these are the three main points: 1) Our country should not be run like a business, it should be run like a family. 2) Economics should not be the main organizing principle of our society, humanitarian values should be the main organizing principle of our society. Love, not money, should be our bottom line. And 3) We need a massive realignment of investments in the direction of people 8 years old and younger. We need to say it. And we need to say it loud.

I got into managing in 2011 with LA Fitness a little further away then where I grew up but still in Maryland. I found my passion to transfer my knowledge to my team & continue helping others. I was 23. Between 2011-2016 I made some risky career moves, I challenged myself as a professional & as a person. I questioned a lot of things. In 2017 I was blessed to get offered a position with Orangetheory Fitness where my passions are reignited day & night. There has never been one day since starting 10/1/17 where I have had an gripe to wake up & go work! I accepted my position when I was 29 & now I’m 30, I live & work over 50 miles away from where I grew up. It took 11 years for me to find exactly where I belong, don’t ever give up - your dream may be right around the corner & disguised. Take that risk every single time.
Last night was by far, without a doubt, the most fun I’ve had in fitness in a long time. We went for 90 mins of hellacious work & the reward was so worth it. To see the smiles through the sweat, the determination to just keep fighting for faster speeds, higher watts, one more rep AND the pride to ring the PR bell over five times. You all are the reason I give you everything I have day in & day out. Thank YOU! ⭐️ Special thanks to everyone got after it last night & came out for post 90 min drinks! ⭐️ @jimhannesschlager & Mr. Leppert for the incredible opportunity I’m given every day on & off of the mic! ⭐️ @lbturnedc for pushing me to get on the mic for the first time & helping me any time I have questions or concerns. You’ve inspired me in so many ways! ⭐️ @catk31 for having my back in this crazy ride! Thank you for supporting me in chasing my dreams and pushing me in the right direction! “There are people that just make you a better human, she’s mine.” ⭐️ @michael_pam for the fun & hard work we would put in at Planet & LA Fitness back then

I’ve been reading a very disturbing report from Germany, that holds implications for the whole planet. Insect populations have disappeared 76% since 1989, this is the canary in the coal mine and we would be idiots to look the other way. There now seems to be in no doubt, we are in the middle of the Sixth Great Extinction, and get this, our extinction is a lot faster than the one that killed the dinosaurs, in other words, humans are doing more damage to the planet than a city sized meteor, ours is a lot more insidious of course, because you can’t see ours unless you can be bothered to look for it, but not seeing it in your face everyday does not mean it’s not happening. Only an idiot hillbilly thinks like that, or a member of the current government. Sadly, the evidence is everywhere, even I remember how many bugs you would get on your windscreen during a long drive, that has dramatically changed. When Sas and I first moved into our house we used to get HUNDREDS of monarch butterflies each year, we planted bushes and was going to get our garden as a registered Monarch site, but then 6 years ago the numbers halved, then halved again, now, over the last few years, not one Monarch, not ONE. This is the opposite of good, it’s apocalyptic, most of our plants don’t pollinate themselves, they use insects, or birds, that feed on insects. If you are a cunt and figure that’s ok, you only eat meat anyway, you will find that animals need insects too, that’s why it’s called the circle of life, each relies on another throughout the food chain, Nature created this over billions of years, you can’t dismantle it over a couple of decades and figure all will be well. It just doesn’t work like that. The implications of all this are truly terrifying, we need to address it now. Back in the 80’s we discovered humans were destroying the Ozone layer, it wasn’t political,it’s simple fact. The planet realized humans can fuck up the air, we banned CFCs, the chemical that caused the damage, and it started to repair itself! Now, spunkbubbleshitforbrains republicans say humans CAN’T damage the atmosphere, because liberals. I’m tired of these backward idiots, aren’t you? Jesus hates them too.

Peter Melchett, the reluctant but eminently noble Lord, environmental campaigner, and woolly-jumpered organic farmer, died last week. He had been policy director at the @SoilAssociation for 17 years, having previously headed Greenpeace UK and been a Labour minister in the 1970s. It is hard to imagine anyone, whatever their politics, not being won over by his humanity, good will and charm; these, combined with his patient persistence and attention to detail, made him a fantastic campaigner who will be greatly missed. We didn’t always agree, but he invariably had research on his side, and time normally proved him right. I will miss the unfailing humility which ensured that, for all his charm, the issue always came first. If only privilege more often came with his modesty, and his sense of responsibility to the planet and its current and future inhabitants. As a vegetarian livestock farmer, he was also one of our most appreciative veg box customers and a loyal patron of our London pub The Duke of Cambridge.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To what degree does the end justify the means? If your cause is just and well researched, does its pursuit justify dogma-based evidence selection and manipulative presentation? There is no right answer; in the shouty, impatient world we live in, purity counts for little and everyone must make their own judgement as to acceptable compromise. I think Peter Melchett consistently got it right; he didn’t always go for the headline, but was sufficiently canny to be effective while commanding lasting respect. It was his analysis of the GM industry that kept me campaigning on the issue, long after feeling compromised by the sometimes extreme views and actions of the antis. As I was mounting a legal challenge to a local GM maize trial, Peter, as head of Greenpeace UK, went one step further and spent a brief time in jail for destroying a GM crop. Long may his campaigning spirit remain with us.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Update 3- At 3:12PM today, my Totty took her last breath as I held her hand and my world will never be the same. Thank you everyone for your love and support during the hardest time of my life 😞
.
Update 2- Nurses are telling us she is almost brain dead and if removed from machines would pass within an hour. I feel as if someone took a bulldozer and has gutted my entire heart out. There is no worse feeling than this moment I’m in now.
.
Update 1- Heartbroken can’t even begin to explain my feelings right now. Yesterday my 90-year old grandma went in for a small heart procedure and 24 hours later she’s in critical condition fighting for her life. I feel dead inside and can’t stop crying thinking about losing her 💔
.
Somehow, she was cut during the surgery which resulted in her needing open heart surgery which lead to her losing so much blood she had to be resuscitated for over 10 minutes (insanely long) which then lead to her having several strokes 😥
.
The fact that she is even alive right now is a miracle and per the neurologist IF she survives, she will likely never be the same. We know these moments are inevitable but somehow never think that they will actually come 😔
.
My grandma was and is, for sure my favorite person on this planet. No matter how bad I was as a kid, she loved me anyway. She was always the one who taught me to love without conditions (still working on that 🙇🏻‍♀️) so to think about life without her sucks the breath out of me.
.
I share this one, to remind everyone how fast life can change. She was just scooting around town yesterday and now, lifeless, relying on machines to keep her alive. Second, to have everyone send positive thoughts her way, I’m not ready to lose her, not like this. And lastly, if I’m a bit MIA, this is why 😞

HERE COMES THE SUN / And then the clouds pulled apart, like a piece of caramel twisted in half, leaving trails of sweetness behind in all the blue. It was just what we needed to venture out and stuff our faces with the best grape leaves I’ve ever had, hummus, and tomato-cucumber salad (aka shepherd salads). I had been holding off on a return trip to this restaurant. Not because it wasn’t good--it is very good--but because it was one of my last meals out with my mother. I think of that lunch as the beginning of the end. My mother, a woman who typically had a zest for everything—like wine and great vegetarian food—visited for an indulgent weekend away. I was overjoyed to bring her to good vegetarian food in the country. But, sadly, she couldn’t stand any of the dishes put before us. She pushed everything around on her plate, eating only one or two bites, saying the food was bad, different than she was used to. The wine didn't taste good either--she ordered two types just to be sure--and refused to drink both. The food wasn't bad, of course. She was bad, in a very bad place, where nothing tasted good anymore. She over-ordered to find something that suited her tastes, but it was no use. We left it all there and I left knowing her remaining time on this planet was very, very short. (She was, in fact, gone 8 weeks later.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It's been a challenge to return to this Turkish gem in the mountains but I was so glad I went today. Everything was delicious, even better than I remembered, and I imagined that she was there, approving of every delicious bite, pushing me to just find joy in each element, encouraging me to sip that wine slowly with so much appreciation. I'm glad I finally went back. I hope she's glad, too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
p.s. Just a reminder: I'm on vacation. Instead of following the business rules of social media, I'm sharing stories and images for the pure joy of it all and to just connect with you. I hope that's okay. Thank you.

It took James and Alex three years of dedication and resistance before they finally broke into the industry. No-one believed packaging made from plants could be as good (if not better) than the conventional plastic everyone was used to.

Now, after seeing the repercussions plastic waste has on our planet, we've become one of NZ's fastest growing companies. We help cafes, food trucks, Councils, events, Universities and large organisations adopt better, more sustainable packaging 🌿 Last year alone we replaced over 500,000kg of traditional oil-based packaging with plant-based and certified compostable packaging.

We've come a long way, but we still have far to go in developing the industry, a responsibility Ecoware has proudly accepted💪🏻

I’m so excited & a little nervous & fully ready for it to be tomorrow morning. I’ve been thinking about this trip for over eight months & we put money on the table back at the beginning of march. I don’t remember the last time I had a trip this long coming! we’ve been packing & organizing & repacking & purchasing things & hiking with our packs & going to the gym & returning things at the store & going through packing lists again & again & again. I can’t believe after all that that it’s finally here! we’re on our way! it’s really really happening!
-
they emailed us the other week & I found out I’m the only girl who signed up for the trip. it sounds like one or two female staff members will be joining us, but still: it came as a surprise to me (& a bit of a disappointment). I haven’t coalesced my thoughts on this one yet; maybe I’ll have more to share once I’m home.
-
& finally.... so much smoke. I wish taking care of our planet was a higher priority for more people. it’s heartbreaking to see in California & it’s heartbreaking to see here. Sam & I honestly felt like we were coming out to Delhi air when we stepped out of the airport in Seattle: the sky is thick & grey & the sun is a deep orange globe hanging low in the sky.

anyways, that’s probably it for a while! won’t have service for a few days at the least. bye friends! ⚪️

Dear Cancer,
There are a few things I need to get off of my “chest”. You made me a widow before any of my children were teenagers. You robbed them of a lifetime with their father. I’m unsure why you felt the need to pay me a visit less than 5 years later, but here’s what I do know.
There will be days when you get me down, and even make me cry. There will be days when you make me scared, even petrified. There may be days where you make me angry, probably furious. There will be days where I have to have surgeries bc of you and you will cause me lots of physical pain and misery. There may be a day when you take away my hair, my eyebrows and my eyelashes. I’m sure there will be days where you make me feel unattractive, even ugly. However, you will teach me more than ever that beauty is truly only skin deep. You will teach me more empathy than anything else ever could and give me the ability to help so many people, so for that, I thank you.
BUT, here is what you will not do. You will not take away both parents from my children before most of them can even drive a car. You will not rob me of being a mom and a step mom to the some of the most epic kids and bonus kids that have ever walked this planet. You will not take away the privilege of being a grandma from me, and you will not stop me from seeing the world with Chris when we reach our golden years. Also, my friends and I are still going to be running half marathons when we are 80, so I’ve still got a long time before that day comes.
In closing, when this is all over, you will be the one taking your last breath, not me. I will be the one burying you! 🎤. Also, I could use all prayers and healing vibes that anyone is willing to give in my behalf. ❤️ Thank you.

This Summer Is Marked By 3 Eclipses And Many Planets Being Retrograde During The Eclipse Season.(Jupiter Ends Retrograde On July 10/11)
The Combination Of These Astrological Factors Is Something That Is Relatively Rare And It Shapes On Unpredictable,Dynamic And Hot Landscape.
All The Eclipses Bring News Of Life's Big Events.
Solar Eclipses Tend To Create New Beginnings And Bright New Opportunities.
This Is The First Of Series Of Eclipses In Cancer And Capricorn Axis,That Will Last Until The Summer Of 2020, Which Will Recalibrate The Way We Deal With Leadership,Power,Work And Family.
The Energy Of The New Moon And Solar Eclipse May Stimulate Your Home Life Activities.
People May Be Focusing More On Matters Related To Their Home,Property,Family As Well As Their Children.
How This Affects People Good Or Conflicting Depends On How The Eclipse Effects The Planet In Your Personal Horoscope.
Cancer Is A Sign That Represents Emotions And That Water Energy Of The Eclipse Will Be Intensified Mainly Because New Moon Solar Eclipse Is Exactly Opposite Pluto,Will Bring Intense Feelings And Possibly Bring Out Some Obsessive Behavior In People. It Would Be A Word To The Wise To Watch What You Say And How You Say It Around This Time As A Lively Debate Could Easily Turn Into A Major Argument.
It Will Be Hard To Think Rationally Under This Influence As People React Compulsively To One Another In An Attempt To Grab As Much Security,Love, And Bonding As They Possibly Can. Good Thing This Tension Is Mitigated By A Trine From Neptune, Adding A More Sensitive And Gentle Approach To Expressing Feelings That May Help Prevent People From Being Completely Bulldozed By One Another.
We Are All Initiating A Ware Of Transformations Around Us Individuality And Our Relationships.
We Will Prepare To Renegotiate The Balance Between "Me" And "We" Over The Next 2 Years.
Eclipses Want Us To Change, And Change We Do, Change Can Be Good Things!
Many Blessings ☀️🌙✨♋️☀️🌙✨♋️☀️🌙✨♋️☀️🌙✨♋️☀️🌙✨♋️☀️🌙✨

It has been claimed that our planet will be destroyed in 4 weeks as a huge asteroid heads towards Earth. Conspiracy theorists claim that it will arrive between September 21 – 28 and it could be the end of the world The origins of the claim come from self-proclaimed prophet Efrain Rodriguez, who has passed his research onto NASA.

Mr. Rodriguez’s prediction appears to support the Blood Moon Prophecy, with September 28 marking the last of four 'blood moons'. He claimed that disaster looms when a lunar eclipse - which last took place in April 2014 - is followed by 6 full moons.

He says he had a vision of the asteroid "entering the airspace of the town of Arecibo in Puerto Rico, hitting the sea between the island of Mona and Mayaguez and triggering a magnitude 12 earthquake". Because the prophecy had so many people worried, NASA has been forced to issue a statement clarifying matters. A Guy from NASA's Near-Earth Object office, named Paul Chodas, has thrown out the claims. He said: "There is no supporting evidence that a huge asteroid or any other celestial object is on a trajectory that will impact Earth.” "In fact, not a single one of the known objects has any credible chance of hitting our planet over the next century. "There is no scientific basis, not one shred of evidence, that an asteroid or any other celestial object will impact Earth on those dates."

What planet is this? It is the only planet currently known to have trees. The trees in Deadvlei, though, have been dead for over 500 years. Located in Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia (Earth), saplings grew after rainfall caused a local river to overflow, but died after sand dunes shifted to section off the river. High above and far in the distance, the band of our Milky Way Galaxy forms an arch over a large stalk in this well-timed composite image, taken last month. The soil of white clay appears to glow by reflected starlight. Rising on the left, under the Milky Way's arch, is a band of zodiacal light -- sunlight reflected by dust orbiting in the inner Solar System. On the right, just above one of Earth's larger sand dunes, an astute eye can find the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of our galaxy. Finding the Small Magellanic Cloud in the featured image, though, is perhaps too hard.

Absolutely devastating. The last male Northern White rhino passed away today. Only 2 females of this species remain on this Earth. What have we done? Is there any hope left for mankind, humanity and this insanity? Extinct! Extinct! This is all the work of man. Poachers that no one could stop. Poachers killing for these beautiful animals horns. Decades of killing. But meanwhile our main stream media is so infatuated with keeping us divided that no one is coming together to put a stop to anything. All we do is fight amongst ourselves over trivial bull shit, while this horror is happening underneath our noses. We need to realize we are all one. One together on this planet. We are not enemies, and we need to fight together against the darkness, the evil. We need to shine our light. Wake up, heal and shine our light so that others around can shine. We need all of us together to stop this madness. RIP "Sudan". An extremely sad day for Planet Earth😔 💔😪 #extinction #wakeup #savehumanity #stoppoaching #savetheanimals #savetheearth #rip #brokenheart #oneness #lovenothate

Other cultures are not failed attempts at being you; they are unique manifestations of the human spirit.” Wade Davis.

Wade Davis is an anthropologist, ethnobotanist & author whose life’s work has focused on worldwide indigenous cultures. He is an Explorer-in-Residence at the Nat Geo Society, named as one of the Explorers of the Millennium & his books & lectures are dense feasts of knowledge & poetic beauty. Seeing him speak in London this week lead me once again around the wonders of the diversity of our planet & the importance of preserving the land rights for our indigenous peoples. He emphasises that we should not try to ‘sequester indigenous peoples in enclaves like some sort of zoological specimens’ but simply give them their rightful lands, where they have lived for thousands of years.
He speaks hypnotically about one of the intense pleasures of travel & ethnological research that is to live amongst the peoples that have not forgotten the old ways. All of them teach us that there are other ways of being, of thinking, of orientating yourself on the earth & this is an idea that can only fill you with hope. But that these old ways, the languages, the mystic wisdoms are being lost as Elders die without new generations to pass on their knowledge and with this our planet is a poorer place.
“There is, indeed, a fire burning over the earth, taking with it plants and animals, cultures, languages, ancient skills and visionary wisdom. Quelling this flame, and re-inventing the poetry of diversity is perhaps the most important challenge of our times.” This image is one of my favourite from my time amongst the beautiful indigenous Himba tribes of NW Namibia. One of the last truly semi nomadic tribes left on earth they, live in a barren harsh wilderness. But their biggest threats come from the Namibian government who would annex their lands and sees their culture as primitive; a source of embarrassment that should be modernised & extinguished. •

Hi again from @pixmix_photo, this is my third and last post for todays takeover of Universe Today. Thanks again for the opportunity.

In 2014 I started a crazy project with 6 fellow swedish amateur planetay photographers to try to animate Jupiter with our own ground based telescopic views of the giant planet. I spent all my free time for a period of 6 month stitching together our images and I posted the resulting movie, "Voyager 3 Project", on https://vimeo.com/98291257 .
Patience is a good friend of mine ;-) I subsequently was invited to join the pro-amateur collaboration set up for the Mission Juno, the probe is circling Jupiter since it arrived in July of 2016.
I started a new project in 2016 with a wide international collaboration of almost 100 amateur planetary photographers who gave me permission to use their still images.
A full year later I published the results in "A journey to Jupiter" on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZc1Y662jtk .
A shorter sequence of the approach was published on APOD https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap170523.html .

So this is an animation that shows a complete rotation of the gas giant but with the cloudbelts accelerated one million times showing the real evolution of the storms over a period of more than 3 month.

The rapid rotation of the Great Red Spot can even be tracked across the planet showing many similarities with hurricanes on earth but generally they last for days and not centuries as is the case of the GRS.

On this very day I will be in London to participate at "Europlanet", a 2 day international planetary workshop on Jupiter, a meeting between pros and amateurs from all around the world about the latest findings on this fascinating planet.

We have today received the below update from our partner Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the latest health of #Sudan - the last remaining male northern white rhino in the world.
Please keep thinking of Sudan.

Northern white rhino update - Sudan's health declining

So many people have supported the northern white rhinos since they arrived on Ol Pejeta in 2009, and we feel it is important to inform you that Sudan, the last male northern white rhino on the planet, is starting to show signs of ailing. At the advanced age of 45, his health has begun deteriorating, and his future is not looking bright.

At the end of the 2017, Sudan developed an uncomfortable age related infection on his back right leg. It was immediately assessed by a team of vets from around the world, and responded well to treatment, healing quickly. He resumed normal movement and foraging habits over January up to mid-February, with his demeanour and general activity improving significantly.

Recently, a secondary and much deeper infection was discovered beneath the initial one. This has been treated, but worryingly, the infection is taking longer to recover, despite the best efforts of his team of vets who are giving him 24 hour care, with everything possible being done to help him regain his health.

We are very concerned about him - he's extremely old for a rhino and we do not want him to suffer unnecessarily.

We will keep you updated on all developments. Please keep him in your thoughts.

I have this white jacket from @rohitgandhirahulkhanna for over 4 years and it's one of those treasured pieces I am going to have in my wardrobe forever. .
Today is the perfect day to talk about Overconsumption Fueled by Social Media. Have you realised we've become enslaved to the pressure created by the social media. The constant need to show new outfits (whether by influencers or individuals), which is actually pointless (@thegreenmonki - thanks for sharing this message too).
.
.
Fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world, and by making more mindful choices, we have the power to change that. .
“BUY LESS, CHOOSE WELL AND MAKE IT LAST” - is a great Mantra to achieving this. .
.
I love to wear the outfits I love over and over again and I do repost them on my feed, and I don't see a reason why not.
I spend a good amount of time shopping my outfits and of course the energy and money that goes towards buying it. As a finance professional, I believe every smart person needs to make sure they get the optimum returns from their investment, and every item I purchase in my wardrobe is an investment. The only way to make good returns on that investment (for myself & for this #planet) is by wearing it as many times as I can.
.

.
So next time don’t shy away from wearing your outfit again, or hesitate from posting it. .
Let’s do our bit for the planet - by making the right fashion choices. The change starts with you!

REST IN PRIDE
Sudan is a 45-year old northern white rhino and he is as big as a small tempo weighing over 2 tonnes. In human years, he is over 97 years old and at the farther end of a rhino's normal life span, which is usually 40 to 50 years. Now he is critically ill, with a deep infection in one of his legs. He is probably counting his last days on the planet, and the last days of his species as well.

A well-placed step from Sudan could crush a human's head in a heartbeat and I don't even want to imagine him in defence mode. He is blind on the right side and sticks his head through the fence of his enclosure in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya when he's had enough of humans loitering around.

He is lonely, lonelier than any of us could imagine. As I stood there, unashamedly scared of this huge mammal, I am also scared for the future of beautiful species like his on our planet.so deep inside nature is calling🦏🍏🌏 #whiterhinos #sudan #maninthearena

As many of you know, I’ve been a hard core vegetarian since the age of 9 (cuz god knows I was so evolved back then... now not so much) and one of my side hustle passions has always been to help the globe see the light on how finding alternative ways into healthy eating can not only save ur HEALTH, but how it can save your PLANET! My pals over @shakeshack spent the last few years and quite a few nudges from me to develop this bad boy and finally it launched last week in select stores across the country! This ‘VEGGIE SHACK’ is comprised of Black beans, brown rice, and roasted beets! It comes vegan (with lettuce wrap) or with provolone cheese and gluten free bun should ur heart desire! Anyway go get one today and celebrate a new way to eat that helps the planet and helps your body feel darn good. In NYC u can get at: Midtown East, UES, & Astor Place. In LA: WEHO & Glendale. Clive recycling, chatting with street friends along the way :) I used to believe kids had to be politically indoctrinated to care about the environment at such a young age; much like the kid who went viral for crying with what looked like pretty severe anxiety over his fears of climate change (i cant imagine a worse motivation for "loving" the planet). So it is a topic i generally avoided (i am wary of any issue on either side that, when accepted as true, leads one to thinking that either of our two horrible parties is "right" and worth following). But last year, his trek into Eastern Orthodoxy began explaining how we ought to look after the planet simply because it is good to do so. Should we treat the planet better if we must in order to survive? Sure, i guess... but that seems like a rather ugly reason for saving something with such intrinsic beauty (and it is often the main political reason i hear). Whether a God put us here or not, every inch of this planet I've been lucky enough to experience has all but commanded me to notice it and to enjoy it. .
.
"If human beings were to treat one another’s personal property the way they treat the natural environment, we would view that behavior as anti-social and illegal... When will we learn that to commit a crime against the natural world is also a sin? The way we respond to the natural environment directly reflects the way we treat human beings. The willingness to exploit the environment is revealed in the willingness to permit avoidable human suffering. So the survival of the natural environment is also the survival of ourselves. When will we understand that a crime against nature is a crime against ourselves and sin against God?" - Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

This time last year I watched the sunrise over the awesome Yosemite Valley with the majestic Half-Dome & El Capitan looming in the background. One of my favorite travel experiences of all time. Today my heart is heavy with news that one of our most treasured National Parks is now under threat and has closed for the first time in almost 20 years.
The #FergusonFire near Yosemite continues to grow as firefighters work to keep the flames away from the heart of the valley. They join
thousands of firefighters battling blazes in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Oregon in what is on track to be one of the hottest summers on record for much of the region. Nationwide, nearly four million acres have burned so far this year, about 11 percent more than the annual average at this time of year. Make no mistake, this is a climate signal.
The science is clear: heat-trapping greenhouse gases have artificially increased the average temperature across the globe, making extreme heat events more likely and has increased the risk of frequent and more devastating wildfires.
These extreme conditions are in line with patterns that scientists attribute to climate change.
And yet our current leadership refuses to recognize this and continues to make reckless decisions that could have irreversible effects on our planet. We cannot continue to put profit over planet. It’s the only home we have. "We have fallen heirs to the most glorious heritage a people ever received, and each one must do his part if we wish to show that the nation is worthy of its good fortune." - Theodore Roosevelt

Raw and real:
I cried after I took these pictures
Sat on the floor in a tanning room at planet fitness and cried
I have believed in myself unconditionally
Believed in myself since day one at 175lbs
After over coming my eating disorder
And after gaining 60lbs
I knew there had to be more out there for me
But looking at progress pictures this morning... it all just felt real
Like I could do this thing
Like my undying love for myself and the belief that I can and will do anything has pushed me past what I saw possible
I believed in myself
I still believe
And will continue to believe until I draw my last breath

In the last 40 years, we already halved the planet's known population of vertebrate wildlife.
.
Earth's population of wild vertebrates - all mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish - declined 58 percent from 1970 to 2012. The No. 1 cause of the decline is habitat loss and degradation, which is reducing nearly half of the species studied.
.
Earth is most likely experiencing its sixth mass extinction. The planet has been through at least five such catastrophes before, but this is the first one in human history - and the first one with human fingerprints.
.
If it doesn't decrease soon, global wildlife populations could drop by 67 percent as early as 2020.
.
Imagine a world with no rhinos, tigers, sharks, whales, polar bears, eagles...is this the planet you want to leave for your family and future generations?
.
Vote with your dollars and do not support the trade in endangered wildlife. Reduce your daily environmental impact and support companies/brands that put planet over profit.
.
Together, we can be the change our planet desperately needs.

Planet Hoth was cold, really cold. There was ice, clear as crystal, compressed pure in the harsh environment over millions of years of frost.
.
TK-24/7 knew this ancient ice was the perfect material for his hobby. He liked to carve things from ice and the ice on Hoth was the best he'd ever seen anywhere.
.
During one of his missions TK-24/7 managed to carve a perfect ice mug. He would have liked to preserve it but the beauty of his hobby was that even the most perfect work didn't last. It was to be enjoyed for the brief moment it existed. It was a long moment on Hoth obviously, but even there the exposed ice sublimated slowly into the frigid air vanishing completely in the end.

We knew who each other was because we had a mutual friend who told us about each other. ⠀

He was sitting at a table and I walked by and said hi. He came over later to talk to me, we ended up going out that night with a group of people. ⠀

Our first real date was the next night and we have pretty much been together ever since. ⠀

There is no one else I would want to go through life with. It doesn’t matter what we do as long as we are together, we always have a great time. ⠀

So we are making time this weekend just for us and are on a little Minneapolis getaway! Tonight is Taylor Swift, tomorrow is whatever we feel like doing! ❤️ It doesn’t even matter as long as we are together! He makes me happy, and I am so lucky to be married to the most wonderful man on the planet! ⠀

I wish you all a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Do something fun & enjoy this last official weekend of summer! ☀️⠀

Adding to the magic, today, the great planet Uranus also has moved into to Taurus to join Mercury and our powerful Sun, elevating our opportunity for change (which is most available on a New Moon) tenfold! ☄️🌞✨⠀

“Uranus is the planet of radical shifts, innovative inventions, and surprising or unexpected changes that come from rebelling from the status quo. Even its ring tilts at an odd angle! After spending nearly 8 years in Aries, Uranus has just begun a new cycle in Taurus, the sign that governs money, food, the environment, and other material resources as well as art, music, and all things sensual. Although it may not happen all at once, these are all areas that we can now expect to see major changes in over the next several years. ✨⏳💫⠀

As one of the generational planets, it's been over 75 years since Uranus was last in this sign, but what makes this a really big deal is that Taurus is typically the sign that prefers things to stay stable and serene and is usually the most stubborn when it comes to change - and yet Uranus will be putting this notion to the test. Needless to say, we are living in interesting times, and Taurus themselves may be the ones to lead the next wave of innovation!” 🌊🌚✨⠀

. . . And we all have a little bit of Taurus in us. Speak your intentions out loud in the affirmative! Say “I am” or “we are” rather than “I want” or “I could.” Together our individual and collective intentions have the power to change the world in ways only our hearts and minds can dream up! It all starts there. See your intentions happening in real time and don’t be surprised when one day over the coming years you see them come to life! 🧚‍♀️💎✨⠀

She left us around 3am, it was silent then, life still feels silent now. Watching Salem slowly search for you has been heart wrenching. We’re all waiting around for something that will never come. You have been curled up over my heart through all of the hardest moments of my adult life, except this one. I feel so blessed to have had such a special little soul in my life, I will never in a million years find another tiny cuddle cashew quite like you. Here’s to the memories, miss Peachy. 💕🍑✨ #brokenhearts in #brokenhomes 🏚

Start off asking yourself what kind of tricks and/or riding you want to learn. Racing, Flatland, BMX Dirt, BMX Park, and Street riding, are all disciplines in freestyle BMX. ***Tire taps. Manuals. Bunny hopping higher and higher. Dropping into ramps. 180’s and coming out of fakie or half cabs***. Starting with those kind of tricks and it will help with progression and actually controlling your bike. Not trying a trick 1000 times before you land one! Watch people, ask questions. Every single rider on the planet has learned from their peers. Get outside, pad up, and don’t be afraid to fail. Practice makes perfect. Most of all, have fun! I am desperately trying to start a weekly class with Parks and Rec. in Nevada soon. Nothing is final or approved as of yet, just know I will not stop until I gain the ability to teach bmx and bicycle safety in my city. Having the backing from the Parks and Rec will give it a larger outreach as well as make the process aimed at keeping kids safe. Starting safety practices in the after school programs will last a lifetime, this will impact impact active lifestyles in general. Not to mention create a platform for respect and understanding even in a sport as influential as BMX Freestyle

Thank you to Woodward Copper for the opportunities to teach this amazing sport safely and effectively. The tools gained from riding a bike and learning in a group format has actually impacted personalities and self growth at camp. I know it has given me a great respect for leading by example in general. Impressions are lasting and run deep. #forevergrateful #bmx #camp #groms #woodward #passiton #colorado #roadtrip #freestyle

Over the years I’ve had my fair share of input on our products & this year we have mastered the ultimate Contest Prep Shred Stack!
-
‼️PREP LIKE BUENDIA IR STACK‼️
-
This stack was designed by my request....I told @hanyrambod last year I needed a stack that was going to hit me fast, keep me energized, and keep me anabolic!
-
Most fat burners & supplements just simply didn’t work, nor do they hit you fast enough to be truly utilized during your workout!
-
The PREP LIKE BUENDIA IR STACK is an Instant Release Stack leaving you with a full explosion of energy within minutes of taking it!
-
1️⃣ CARNIGEN: is a 4-Blend Carnitine that is designed to help with the burning of fat as well as mental focus and stimulation which is essential when you are depleting down for contest or trying to lose weight!
-
2️⃣ LIPOCIDE IR- our instant release powdered fat burner, that will heat your core temperature and mental alertness instantaneously. This product is the ultimate fat burner! & it taste amazing!

-
4️⃣ EVP XTREME- this is our newest Pre-Workout. This one is important to understand. Most pre workouts are loaded with cheap fillers, aka stuff that doesn’t do anything for you in the gym. A Pre-Workout purpose is to maximize your efforts and efficiency in the gym. Most pre workout are pure stimulant, which is a Vaso-Constrictor, and that is counter productive to what our goal is in the gym; maximize blood flow! In our EVP XTREME, @hanyrambod has created the perfect formula of stimulant to pump factor to maximize energy as well as Vasodilation (opening of blood vessels) for optimal nutrient delivery...read more below.

September 9 #999 – New Moon in Virgo at 2:01 pm EDT; Venus enters Scorpio.
Virgo and Scorpio have much in common. In Shamanic Egyptian Astrology, these are both priestesses – Virgo is Nekhbet, the Crone Priestess; Scorpio is Bast, the Sacred Sexual Priestess. They represent two phases of feminine power – one through the healing power of sexual expression; the other through the grounding strength of the wise woman.
A New Moon is the beginning of a 28-day phase focused around a theme. Virgo’s greatest strength is in prioritizing. “This is important, this is not.” With the shift of Venus – Isis, the Queen of Heaven – into passionate Scorpio/Bast, what needs attention is a deep examination of values; what we want to receive. This operates both on a collective and personal level.
As we enter this next moon phase, Venus/Isis forms a challenging relationship – a t-square – with the on-going square of Mars/Set to Uranus/Wadjet. The impact of the Mars/Uranus square cannot be overemphasized. All we have experienced over the last several months – the upheaval, angry eruptions, unpredictable actions – reflect this on-going square. Our old version of reality is being destroyed and something new is being created.
Venus/Isis will turn retrograde in Scorpio on October 6 and will remain in the emanation of Bast until January, except for a retrograde back into Libra/Ma’at in November. Nekhbet will hold us with her piercing gaze, demanding that we act in integrity. Bast will invite us into the birth canal so that we might release our attachments to things as they were and be reborn into something new.
During this Dark Moon window, meditate on what you most passionately long for and prepare to do the personal work required to manifest it. There are attachments that must be released and commitments that need to be kept. We have from now through January to attend to that which stands in our way of manifesting our deepest longing.

I’ve been here for over a month, truly focusing on myself and my relationships with the people around me. I’ve learned to say yes to a lot more GOOD things, and no to the things that no longer serve me well. While I’ve been at home, I’ve gone on spontaneous trips to the city, had several meals ALONE in public at a table set for one (something that I was always afraid to do), turned 21, had countless fun memories with my friends and family, killed a ton of workouts, found my passion for running outside again, enjoyed some of the most DELICIOUS food ever without any guilt and so much more. But most of all, I have found myself again. I found the reason why IM here on this planet and what I was put here to do. I’m no longer dreading the future in fear of what’s to come, but instead, embracing the moment that I am in NOW and letting the rest fall into place. With all of this being said, I’m returning to Texas tomorrow and so excited to finally be back where I belong. Thank you guys so much for all of the support you’ve given me these past few weeks—the countless texts, snaps, DMs, comments, etc... We all struggle sometimes but take a step back and work on things one at a time. You’ll get to where you want to be, I can promise you that 😊

It’s estimated that a menstruating human will use 9600 tampons in their lifetime. And traditional “feminine care” can be full of chemicals and waste (not to mention, being subjected to bullshit “pink” or luxury taxes). If you’ve read my book (specifically page 224), you know I’m a fan of the #MenstrualCup. It’s easier on your bod (fewer cramps, shorter cycles, can be worn for 12 hours), wallet (savings of $200+ per year), and the planet ( #zerowaste and they last for years). Imagine my delight when I found @dotcup, a #Chicago based, woman-owned company that has a #getonegiveone model (for every cup you buy, one is given to a menstruating human in need in areas where having a period can mean missing school or work). Also, it’s black, which fits with my Johnny Cash aesthetic (and won’t show discoloration over time), comfortable, and comes in this gorgeous custom bag featuring @ashleymaryart design. It’s the chic, charitable, eco option for anyone who has a period. One lucky winner will will a Dot Cup AND a copy of my new book. Entry is easy:

Each year divine individuals who are making a difference in their community and around the world are honored and celebrated. Well last night was no exception to the greatness of this platform. I’m always humbled and excited when they call and allow me to crown these Kings and Queens with just a small token to say thank you. Thank you to the President Phil Wilson who stepped down last night for everything. Your legacy will continue my friend. To the 2018 Honorees @theebillyporter thank you for your words, artistry, and for being simply fabulous always. @ledisi my friend and sister I love you keep inspiring and changing lives. @ejjohnson_ we can slay together anytime. @thedawnraven thanks for sharing the night with me 💕. Last night we raised over 725,000 dollars. Which is outstanding. However, there is still more work to do. Let’s keep the conversations going and let’s help one another our people African Americans who this epidemic effects greatly. My friend @jussiesmollett you are awesome and like you said last night, we were put on this planet to serve. "Total Eclipse of the Sun" taken one year ago today.

This is a 9 shot mosaic of the total solar eclipse of 2017 taken over 80 minutes. My mother and I drove down Idaho to watch the total eclipse last year near Atomic City. It is the first time I have posted some of these photos.

If you remember all the hype on the news... gas stations were going to run out of gas, communications grids were going to be locked up, they suggested that eclipse viewers should bring a 3 day supply of food and water to survive the miles and miles of grid locked highways. Lucky for us, that turned out to be fake news.

It was the most amazing experience of my 40 years. If you ever get the chance to be in the path of totality, take it, ignore the news haha.

A total solar eclipse occurs at a given spot of the planet only once every 375 years. The last time a total eclipse was visible from coast to coast in N. America was in 1918, 99 years earlier.

There is another total eclipse in 2019, visible in small areas of Chile and Argentina. I considered it but I've decided to pass on that one. I do plan to travel to Quebec, New Brunswick or Maine to see the total eclipse of 2024.

You can tell a lot about the quality of a furniture maker’s work by looking at whether or not the underside of their table has been finished with the same level of care as the topside. From a practical point of view you could argue that nobody would see it, however it does say a lot about his or her integrity as a craftsperson whose attention to detail should be a number one priority.
-
A more relevant example of this would be a colour handle similar to the one above, which could be made from any number of materials. The fact that nobody will see the inside of the handle means that we could get away with using the cheapest quality materials available. But you guys know us better than that!
-
To put this into perspective, all our colour handles are made from the exact same FSC certified, solid Beech wood as our Natural handle. The only difference is that the latter is finished with a clear varnish to highlight the natural grain of the wood which you unfortunately don’t get to see once it’s received its final coat of paint.
-
The question is, why do we do this when we could just as easily use a cheaper alternative? Well, for us this decision is less about appearance and more about the physical properties and structure of the materials that we use. Yes, by choosing a slightly more expensive material we do sacrifice a small amount of extra profit but it allows us to ensure that our seals will last a generation, if not longer. It also ensures that we are sourcing materials from sustainable forestry, which will in turn leave this planet in a slightly better condition than we found it.
-
Although we have made many positive changes to our production process over the last year or so, we are still by no means perfect. We would love to gradually expand our sustainability efforts and apply them to other areas of our business as we continue to grow.
-
Thank you to @martina.lyons for the photo and to everyone who has made their decision to purchase from us 🙏🏼

.
holy mother of Loki, I can't even put into words how awesome July was in terms of books. SO MANY NEW FAVORITES. where do I even start.
.
lets get a few out of the way first:
- The Body In the Library: never getting tired of Marple showing up investigators. (I thought I would read more Marple books this month LOLOL)
- Vicious reread (no, I'm not early, I'm just gonna reread AGAIN in Sept)
- Froi of the Exiles reread via audiobook (so sad, so tragic, so painful... but I wasn't 100% in it because NO SCIFI)
- Closed and Common Orbit reread (and I'm still waiting for Spaceborn Few to arrive 🙃)
.
NOW THE NEW-TO-ME, EPIC STUFF:
.
A Big Ship At the Edge of the Universe: I won't shut up about this one anytime soon. SO GOOD YOU GUYS. If you like Small, Angry Planet but want more action and also MAGIC, please try this one (hella diverse and by a non-binary author too)
.
Exit Strategy: I read this while still thinking there won't be more Murderbot so ALL THE SADS but such a great ending! everything came full circle.
.
Static Ruin: this one was the last in a series too AND I CAN'T. WHY IS IT OVER. I NEED MORE. Fav character alert (not just one either). I love these messed up little fuckers.
.
The Calculating Stars: THE. FEELS. I was completely unprepared for this one. such a powerful read! be prepared to be ANGRY.
.
Gods War + Infidel + Rapture: binge read the whole Bel Dame Apocrypha series because SO. FUCKING. GOOD. I don't think I would necessarily rec this to just anyone but if you like it dark and the main characters being loveable assholes, this is for you. Be warned, Nyx really isn't a nice person. Anyway, I've read Kameron Hurley before but this made me call her a favorite author now.
.
that's seven epic, new favorite reads and my mind is still blown. I could spend all of August just rereading all these tbh. Anyway... see you next month for round two (I wish, ha)
.
What was YOUR favorite book in July?

One of my biggest rolemodels! She has chosen to dedicate her whole life to try to change the the world. Food sustainability, the environment, the health... And the meat and dairy industry is the main target. «A new paper in the @sciencemagazine shows that avoiding meat and diary is the single best to reduce our environmental impact on the planet. Meat and dairy provide just 18% of the world’s calories but produces 68% of the agriculture’s emissions - and uses the vast majority - 83% - of farmland. « (Quote Gunhild Stordalen). Therefor we truly recommend to eat more fruits and veggies, and less meat and dairy. All the substitutes that are on the market now, the last year it has really exploded with great options, makes it really easy to take those wiser choices. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for your kids, that are the ones who are going to take over the planet after us, if it still excist 😅 In this speed, the planet really needs us to make a change quickly, or it WILL suffer major consequences🙄 You can do this 😃🙌🏻💪🏼👊🏼🌎🌱❤️🐷🐮🐤

It's no secret I love comfortable dresses, that I can throw on after a surf or also dress up. Enter @christydawn. In my eyes, the best dresses in the world! And the reason why is because well yes, they're timeless, beautiful, comfy, understatedly sexy, high quality, but most importantly, they're designed by people who care, and made in LA from deadstock fabrics. If you are interested in sustainability and the health of our planet and all humans who work in the garment industry, I suggest hopping over to Christy's page and watching her recent video post. It's short but sweet and offers a wealth of knowledge and a glimpse into why the fashion industry is harming our planet. I understand that not everyone can fathom spending so much on one piece of clothing, and I often have to save up to purchase something. But I do have to say, I most likely spend less on clothes in the long run, as now I choose to buy things that last and that I will be proud to wear for years. And I pretty much live in these dresses. Less is more. Let's keep spreading the knowledge in hopes that sustainability will be the norm one day, and that shopping ethically will be available to us all, all the time. This now viral video was taken in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic a few days ago where @parley.tv and a network of partners and collaborators are working alongside the municipal government and military. Over 500 workers have been mobilized for the clean-up operation and in under three days over 30 tons of plastic has now been collected.
.
A common theme I see when a video or photo of such shocking nature emerges is an instantaneous blame and shame placed on the community or country who is being highlighted. The reality is, this problem wasn’t created by one person, company, community or country and it most certainly didn’t happen overnight. It is the result of our collective consumption behavior over the last 100 years comprised of billions of small decisions and actions by each one of us. Energy should not be put towards shame or blame but rather accepting responsibility. We all played our part and we must now all work together to get ourselves out of the mess we are in.
.
This video is disturbing but within it also resides hope and beauty. Hope within the acknowledgement that every single piece of plastic that comprises this global epidemic has been created entirely by us. Therefore it can be easily solved by us if we made the conscious decision to change our consumption habits which are currently based upon convenience, not necessity. The beauty exists within the wave of awakening this video has invoked within millions of people around the world. “Out of sight, out of mind” is no longer a viable excuse. You have seen the problem, now it’s time to take action.
.
Avoid consuming plastic wherever possible; support businesses that are seeking and utilizing environmentally conscious alternatives and striving to create a circular economy; demand that our communities, industries, and political leaders embrace a new reality based on sustainability and compassion for our shared responsibilities to life on this planet; and call out for a material revolution. Plastic is a design failure.
.
Changing the course of the world is easy if we were ALL to understand that it can happen simply by changing ourselves.
.

I recently gave myself this stick and poke as a memorial for my grandfather who passed away a year and a half ago. He was the most special person on the planet to me, my best friend, the person who kept me out of the dark during a rough childhood, basically served as two parents in one, literally my rock. When he passed away I had a really hard time figuring out how to mourn his death, so instead I pushed my feelings aside and told myself I would deal with them later. Over a year went by and I still hadn’t figured out how to process it. But then it occurred to me, maybe I don’t actually have to mourn his death like one thinks you’re supposed to. I do not feel that he’s gone. Perhaps I haven’t found a ”grieving process” because I don’t truly feel a loss.. It’s just like somehow, someway he is still right here with me. I don’t believe that he’s disappeared from my life just because his body is gone. And now his memory lies here as well, on my living body, for however long I last. And that makes me feel good :)

And not feel sick or icky like you do after most dairy or bad foods! 😷My taste buds have completely changed the last few months I remember the first time I tried a salad and I couldn't eat it thought it was sick! But now it just tastes so good!! Like so good!! Even tomato 🍅 I just decided I didn't like them when I was younger 🙄 as you do as a fussy child 😂 and now i love them! Turning #vegetarian was the best thing I have done! And hopefully one day #vegan! After cutting out most #dairy from my diet it's resulted in not only weight loss but I am never horribly bloated anymore or feel absolutely crap after eating or drinking dairy When you actually educate yourself on not only how the #animals 🐷🐮 are treated but the agricultural side of it it's frightening to think what we have done to our planet just by eating meat!! Sorry for the future generations! Because your fecked! Anyways rant over 💪🏻😋 #vegetarian #salad #food #foodporn #rant

The most obvious example of how Americans have been dumbed down is through this nation’s failed public education system. At one time not that long ago America reigned supreme as a leading model for the rest of the world providing the best quality free public K-12 education system on the planet. But over the last many decades while much of the rest of the world has been passing us by, it seems an insidious federal agenda has been implemented to condition and brainwash a population of mindless, robotic citizenry that simply does what it’s told, and of course the brainwashing commences early in America’s schools.
But prior to delving into the many ways we’ve been duped and dumbed down through the years, a cold hard look at the devastating result seems very much in order here. With doom and gloom warnings of impending collapse, the US economy is floundering still mired in recession, emaciated and cut off from life support, as a consequence of waging too many wars around the world (be they the longest running costly defeats in US history or the fast rising dirty little Special Ops wars secretly raging on every corner of the globe or Obama’s personal favorite, state sponsored terrorism from drone-filled skies). As a pawn to the military industrial complex, the US government has chosen permanent war over its own people. This treasonous decision has decimated the middle class and created a college educated indentured class struggling in heavy debt to find any means to stay afloat. With an outsourced, now vanished manufacturing base, upward mobility and the American dream have become tragic casualties of modern life, now a sad, nostalgic bygone reminder of the once greatness of America.

What I gave myself instead was the gift of being tired of my own shit. I woke up this morning and knew it was time to get back into the gym. I was ready. I'm tired of the clothes that used to fit me being too small. Im tired of the floppy feeling of my stomach that had been larger then smaller and then gotten larger again this past nine months. I'm tired of not feeling as mobile and free and strong as I did at this time last year. Now, I know I NEEDED this last year for a different kind of healing; it took me a LOT of work to be ready for it and I'll give myself grace and love. But it was time.

Last night I saw a picture of myself from last year; I looked free and light. I said to myself, "Man, I've been through one fuckload of a year" as I thought about everything that has happened since then. I wished, for a split second, that I could remove the handprint of the Red Pill worth of shit I've learned... but then I had a thought. If I have one job here with you, it's to show you how it's possible to be a resiliant badass. At any age. At any weight. No matter what you've been through, you can chose to RISE. You can fall seven times and get up eight. Even though, each time you do it's more painful and harder than it was the last time. You just keep going. Because you fight for you. Fight, or stop growing.

I feel like I'm starting ALL over again. The truth is, I'm not, but I'm carrying more with me now. More backstory. More emotion. Fuck it. Keep fighting.

I went to Planet Fitness; it was closed. I went to 24 Hour Fitness; it was closed. I started crying in the car, irrepressible. I came home. I took out a yoga mat and a big thing of water, and I moved on my own.

It sucked. Everything hurt. Shit that used to be easy was harder, and I choked on my own tears every few minutes. But I did it. I showed up.

This is MY self-love. The unyeildng fight to live the way I want to FEEL in my own life. With a body that gives me the freedom to do it.

I won't promise you perfection, but I'll give you determination.🧡

From @jodymacdonaldphoto // “Elephants are one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet and they are disappearing faster than they are reproducing. Globally, their population has declined by approximately 62% over the last decade. The loss of elephants gravely affects many species that depend on elephant-maintained ecosystems and weakens the diversity of nature itself. They are running out of space and time.
Here, Rajan the elephant floats in the azure waters of the Andaman Sea. The Andaman Archipelago consists of 325 islands and the rain forests on the islands contain more than 200 species of trees. With this incredible natural resource it’s not surprising that logging in the archipelago was prevalent throughout the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. In the 70’s this elephant along with a handful of others were brought over to the islands as youngsters to do grueling work with the logging companies. They spent the next 30 years hauling these giant trees through the jungles. The logging companies had no way of transporting the elephants to the next island so the elephants would have to swim. Sometimes many miles between islands. When logging became banned in 2002, these elephants were out of a job. Rajan was the last surviving elephant of the group. He lived out his retirement days on one of the islands and lived among the giant trees he used to haul until his death in 2016.” Follow @jodymacdonaldphoto for more phenomenal images.

Once considered the most numerous large animal on Earth, this species has been decimated by over fishing. Currently its numbers are 99% in decline throughout much of its range worldwide. When working with oceanic whitetips, I am reminded of other species of animals that once lived on Earth, like the passenger pigeon, which was once so abundant that their flocks blocked out the sun as they flew past. But every last one of them was killed and today they are extinct. My hope is that through photography and storytelling we can help create a desire to protect the ocean and vital species like sharks.

The value of sharks to the health of the ocean is substantial and a healthy ocean is vital to all life on our planet. Follow @BrianSkerry to see more pictures of ocean wildlife.
And keep following our feed all week to keep up with Brian Skerry's very sharky takeover! #takeover #sharks #sharkweek #sharkweek2018 #allsharksallthetime #newenglandaquarium

On #WorldWildlifeDay, we celebrated these magnificent animals and we continue to emphasize their need for our help.

This 2018 year’s theme is all about big cats. Big cats are admired around the globe, but they’re facing increasing threats. Tiger populations have plummeted 95% over the last one hundred years, and Leopard populations are down 40% in just twenty years. If we continue at this pace, they will be extinct.

How can I help?

One of the easiest ways to help out is to spread the message to friends and family. The World Wildlife Day website has a ton of ideas for tweets or facebook posts you can share.

Sign a pledge: Join many others, and stand up to protect our wildlife. You can find a link in my bio @fightforelephants

“I will never buy any illegal wildlife products, as I know that demand drives poaching.

I will be a committed advocate in support of rangers and others on the front lines of conservation.

I will share my passion about stopping wildlife crime with my friends and family”

We’ve all seen the pictures on Tv recently and you’d have to have been living under a rock not to have noticed the long overdue realisation that is finally starting to dawn on society, how our years of over consumption and complete ignorance when it comes to disposing of our waste in particular plastic is having on our planet. We’ve got a long way to go to make up for the negative impact our actions have already had but if we can all do our bit even if it’s as small as refusing to use that plastic straw that is offered to us or that plastic bag in the supermarket then we can hopefully start reversing the effects we only have ourselves to blame for. For the last 3 years here at So Beau Baby we have consciously only used paper packaging to send out your orders we hate plastic mail bags. It’s only a small step and there are still big changes we would love to see such as and end to the mass of plastic packaging our stock arrives in and with new season collections starting to land thick and fast i approach this time of year with a slightly heavy heart as I know how many plastic garment bags I will soon be drowning in despite the gorgeousness packed inside. But we truely believe as we all become more conscious big changes will come, they have to because we only have one planet to pass down to our kids right!! Ok I will get down off my soap box now.... 😉🌏

Today was an incredible day. I flew on a hot air balloon for the first time in my life (all in the stories of you haven’t seen them yet!)I had dreamt of doing it as long as my memory goes. While I was up there, slowly going towards the blue sky and watching the earth beneath me extend to infinite lengths, it was like seeing her for the first time: Mother Earth. In all her beauty, her splendor, her glory. I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t think, I was just bewitched by such beauty and possessed by awe.
Once I got back on the ground i couldn’t snap out of a strange bittersweet feeling.
The more I travel the more I feel a slight underling sense of dauntingly despair and today it was clearer than ever why. I saw dams being built all over the Mekong in Laos, forests being burned in Indonesia, ungodly amounts of trash scattered all over India... How lucky are we to live on this planet and how stupid are we to hurt it and exploit it (it and it’s people).
We only have one planet and we don’t have much time left to make things right, I urge you all to play your part in protecting our future, our home 💛🌍

Ho visto innumerevoli dighe in costruzione sul Mekong in Laos, foreste scomparse in Indonesia, spazzatura ovunque in India... quanto siamo (...CONTINUA NEI COMMENTI)

If you’ve been catching yourself feeling judgmental, frustrated, resentful, dissatisfied — like nothing is going right, nothing feels easy, and no one is helping — than this episode is for you. 🎧

WARNING: it may be the exact  opposite  of what you want to hear. It may sound so simple-stupid that you’ll want to dismiss it. (I know I’ve definitely had those moments before; robbing myself of the power of the practice 🤦🏼‍♀️). 🎧

Here’s the invitation: challenge yourself to really, actually, practice the challenge exercise at the end of the recording. Cuz truth? Every last one of us can use this reminder. ESPECIALLY when the ego mind would have us agitated, impatient, and thinking, “That won’t help.” 🎧

Fact is: It won’t help if you don’t do it. 👊🏼👊🏽👊🏾 🎧

Turns out, sometimes, the answers in life aren’t complex. They’re not heady; not even new. And as much as we’d love to think they are (rationalizing that we need to research something better or learn something more intricate) the reality is, sometimes, we really just need to PRACTICE them. Over and over and over again. Even when they’re the last thing on the planet we WANT to do. (Especially then). 🎧

SO, as you listen, g’head and notice if you’re monkey brain has you eye rolling; has you dismissing; has you running rampant with restless annoyance; saying things like:
:: Yeah, but.
:: I know this already.
:: That won’t work for me.
:: Easy for you to say. You don’t know my situation. 🎧

That, my friends, is the EXACT reason to tune into this very conversation. Because it’s THOSE thoughts that keep us stuck, leave us un-coachable, AND make us (+ everyone around us) miserable. 🎧

Worse? They repel money. Turn people off. And suck the life outta everything you’re trying to create. 🎧

The good news? We’ve all been there. The better news? You don’t have to STAY there. And the fastest way to get back to feeling good? To inspiring others to want to help you? To attracting more abundance into your health, wealth, relationships and business? 🎧

Chased a dream? Shared a passion? Or dared to dream that your voice could really matter in this world? .
.
I already know the answers your inner mean girl will spew at you: “Who am I to do this!” “No one will care what I have to say!” “I’m too busy!” ... and so on!
Am I right?! .
.
But I’m here to call BS! We are here on this planet to find joy in creating, sharing and giving back.
We are here to chase wild dreams, do what feels good and slow down so we can love ourselves first. .
.
The internet, websites, blogs (and the traditional 9-5 model slowly falling away!) are the BIGGEST blessings of our time.
Anyone with an internet connection and a laptop can share their voice, make a career and earn big! .
.
This is MY WHY and 100% the reason I created The Blogger Launch!
This last year didn’t turn out as expected personally for me, but it also brought so much beauty, clarity and pushed me in ways I could have never dreamed possible.
The best way to get out of your own pain is to serve. I believe this whole heartedly.
While Coaching hundreds of women over this time - I’ve realized one simple thing: we are all the same.
We all have a unique voice inside that the world needs. We all have dreams and desires deep down. We are all forever those little girls, waiting for someone to give us permission.
THE TIME IS NOW. THIS IS YOUR PERMISSION. .
.
When our ancestors had something to say, they didn’t get these same privileges. They often stayed quiet and small and many didn’t get to live out their purpose.
We get to, and a lot that has to do with the internet providing the most magical vehicle to get us there!
How freakin’ cool is that? .
.
That desire to share your life, passions and voice. The dream of working on your own schedule, for yourself, from anywhere in the world.
The Blogger Launch was made for women just like YOU.

This is a ‘crash’ of 5 rhino..
The sad reality is, who knows if any of these 5 rhino are still alive 48 hours later..this might have been the last sighting of them. That’s how desperate the situation is over there. This wasn’t a rare sighting once upon a time. The park use to number anywhere between 5000-8000 rhino, only a few years ago. It’s possibly down to just hundreds left...😢 (if even that much)

I was filled with so much joy and euphoric energy when I saw these amazing 5 rhino just enjoying some grass and sun, yet I was also deeply sad and depressed about what’s going on around the world in terms of rhino poaching.
China and Vietnam are wiping these beautiful beings from the planet at an alarming rate.
People of my generation, your kids and grandkids will never be able to see a Rhino in the wild at the rate it’s currently happening. You will have to take your kids to a zoo or private owner just to see a rhino. This is disgusting..!
Rhinos should be wild and free and left alone, only to be photographed and watched for their absolute beauty.
The recent lifting of a 25 year ban on the legal trade of farmed Rhino horn and tiger bone are devastating for the wildlife community, who knows what is going to happen in the next few years. All we can keep doing is fighting and educating people that these animals have no scientific evidence of any nature. Hopefully one day people will start to value the Rhino and not just a piece of keratin at the end of their beautiful faces..
Sorry for the essay but seeing these 5 Rhino all together, as if they were trying to protect each other, got me very emotional.

Oh hi, I’m sending this young man to a real magical camp for rabbits called Camp Carrot (thank you @bunnyluv_vannuys 🙏🥕 ) while I embark on a scary ... no wait.. *exciting* trip to NY/NJ, to renovate my dad’s house and finally have some kind of tangible real 3d closure on his death. I haven’t been in his house since he died (and he died in his house) and I also haven’t been to New Jersey or Manhattan for over 15 months so it all feels very scary but as in all things, life doesn’t give you more than you can handle and I know many tools now that I haven’t known for coping with challenges, thanks to everything I’ve been doing this year (THANK GOD), especially studying Spiritual Psychology which has been honestly the best use of my time on this planet right now🌎. Signing out of here so I can really feel my feelings, even “boredom” (YUCK) which is uncomfortable but necessary. I am especially inspired by the recent post of @laurakampman to sign out of here for a bit to commit to this journey of feeling discomfort come up if it needs to, so please email or text me if you want to chat. The one thing I will mention is that there is a mass meditation through @disclosurefest in LA that I encourage everyone going to since there is much positive research that shows meditation helps in so many ways (it is so simple but makes such a big difference) but also INTERESTINGLY, mass meditations help reduce crime and promote peace ! Swipe to see photos and PROOF🔑 - ps the last photo is a mock newspaper created by the activist group called The Yes Men if you’re interested 💙 I love you and myself and #goblinthedwarflionhead - we are ALL ONE - nothing on this screen matters as much as your sense of worth and capability. Last week, as I was trying on a pile of winter sale jerseys, I was privy to the chit-chat of two tweenage girls one cubicle over. From the sizes of clothing they discussed, I gathered they were around 11 years old. For a while, they giggled delightedly while they taught each other ‘model poses’ that they were evidently admiring in the mirrors, but their mirth turned sour when one of the girls decided she looked fat in whatever item she had tried on. “I could wear it if I sucked my tummy in the whole time,” the girl told her friend. “Don’t worry,” her friend consoled her, as the first girl got close to tears, “At least you don’t look like <some other little girl they knew>.” I walked out of the store with a heart of lead. These girls weren’t yet women, and already they were wishing their bodies different, programmed with self-loathing and judgment of themselves and their peers.

How can we protect our kids from these harmful messages from so young?

The answer is, I don’t think we can. What we can do, is teach them to recognize the messages they’re being pummelled with, and attempt to counterbalance all of the negativity with messages about loving their bodies and appreciating the beautiful differences between all of us.

One such positive message is Steven Universe, an animated series now premiering on the Cartoon Network, in partnership with the @dove Self-Esteem Project. The Emmy-nominated series revolves around Steven, the “little brother” to a team of magical aliens —the Crystal Gems—who defend the planet Earth. The cartoon aims to build body confidence in young people, by leveraging research that has shown that children’s media can be a powerful source of influence on young viewers’ perspective of their body image and emotional intelligence. Sure, maybe the show is geared at young people, but I don’t know about you – I could always use a little extra body positivity in my life, and I don’t think you can ever get too old for cartoons. So pull up a comfy seat, pour a bowl of cereal, and tune into the Cartoon Network for a bit of fun with a beautiful message!

We slept zero hours last night. Like, for real. You can’t tell by this picture because when she smiles her whole being lights up in an outer worldly way but she is sick right now and spent all night awake and sad. I taught this morning and listened to @jamesaspey speak at the studio and we filmed this weeks YouTube video and I made banana bread and edited what felt like a thousand pages of content and now I put moon baby to bed and she is beside herself. Somehow if I go in there it gets worse(??) and if we put her in our bed she freaks out(???) and nothing works so I know my only option is to sit here and breathe. It will last for 2 minutes, max. As I wrote that - max - she settled down and now she’s quiet. Hearing her cry, even if for just a minute, hurts deep in the center of my soul. ⁣

Today we talked about veganism for so long and I always try to not listen when it gets to the bad and the painful. Did you know that chickens sing to their babies? And that baby boy chicks get thrown in a shredder alive as soon as they are born, because they are seen as a waste product? Mama cows are pregnant for 9 months, just like humans. They cry for their babies when they are taken away and after it’s happened once, they birth in terror, knowing they won’t get to keep their baby calf. For every carton of dairy milk and cheese and ice cream we consume there is a momma looking for her baby. A baby torn from her mom. ⁣

Pigs say over 80 different things to each other. They speak. Like us. They’re the third smartest animal on the planet - more intelligent and more compassionate than dogs. Fish feel pain more acutely than humans do. ⁣

WE ALL WANT TO LIVE. Every being, human or animal, wants to live. We can argue all we want but this is a fact. Nobody wants to die. Nobody wants to suffer. I think about this when my baby cries, wondering how many babies are out there crying out for help in this very second, knowing no one is coming for them. ⁣

I can’t close my eyes to what my heart tells me is so true: I don’t want to take part in this suffering ever again. Vegan video coming soon🌱❤️ #love

Photo by @davidalanharvey | This is the solitary confinement cell view Navy fighter pilot John McCain had for 2 of his 5.5 years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. After being shot down over Hanoi in 1967, McCain was tortured to near suicide while held here at the “Hanoi Hilton”. Yet unbelievably in the 90’s McCain returned to Hanoi and spent an equivalent amount of time to make friends with his former enemies and to try and locate those missing in action and to generally wave a peace flag towards Vietnam. I was granted permission to go inside McCain’s cell to photograph for a post war story for @natgeo. I didn’t take a tape measure with me, yet I can tell you the cell couldn’t have been more than 10 feet long and about 5 feet wide. Even being in there for 10 minutes or so made 5 years seem impossible. Of course I was against a war with Vietnam in the first place and lamented the 250,000 Vietnamese and 55,000 Americans killed. I asked “why?” at the time and “why?” now. Nobody under 50 can even remember the circumstances and Vietnam is a popular tourist destination and trading partner. Yet alas, U.S. Senator McCain’s last war was with our current President over U.S. values and global diplomacy. McCain left this planet with his head held high. Whether one agreed with McCain politically or not, he is admired for standing tall in his convictions. Anyone who suffered this cell for his beliefs deserves a hero’s welcome. Twin flames, also called twin souls, are literally the other half of our soul. We each have only one twin, and generally after being split the two went their separate ways, incarnating over and over to gather human experience before coming back together. Ideally, this happens in both of their last lifetimes on the planet so they can ascend together. So you probably haven't had many lifetimes with your twin. 🖤

i don’t ever want to return to earth when I die. i’m done with this planet, this is the last time. i told my mom this the other day and she told me she thought that too. she’s over it and wants to go somewhere else. we said it feels like we have a buffet table of fuckery, a platter of suffering, ... i don’t ever want to return to earth when I die.

i’m done with this planet, this is the last time.

i told my mom this the other day and she told me she thought that too.

she’s over it and wants to go somewhere else.

we said it feels like we have a buffet table of fuckery,
a platter of suffering, stress and pain.

i seem to focus on the four people who rejected me
but not the thousands who have accepted me
and it makes me so hard on myself
but it reminds me that this is the point in life

we reminded ourselves that if what we are is Love itself
and if we choose to become human
then we signed up for this particular life.

we signed up for the entire
human spectrum as a contract
to learn what it is. things like:

loss
heartache
depression
envy
grief
shame
rage
betrayal

but that also means we signed up for the others:
purpose
excitement
gratitude
freedom
kindness
confident
connection
prosperity
i need to remember when i’m at war with my humanness,
when i’m not being real or wanting to live a full life,
i know that is against nature.
it’s meant to be that i’m still learning.
i’m living the life that i chose
and it’s okay if i choose earth
one last time.

One wouldn’t need to look too hard to find evidence to support said theories.

In the last month, I’ve gone on a 28 day fast with no food. I sold my house. Got rid of more-than-half my stuff. Moved to a condo on the beach. And, ended a two decade relationship.
In the process, I’ve experienced every emotion known to man. Very deeply.

People have had concerns. Even a few harsh judgements, and un-friendings (both online & off) -- from strangers and people I thought were friends alike, who are viewing from the limited scope of their own life.

Just last night, I was wiping tears from my 10 year-old daughter’s eyes on the beach. In the midst of experiencing the most epic sunset, she let it all out, sensitive soul that she is. Everything she’s been holding in & feeling in the midst of the rapid change in her young life.

We breathed together and I loved on her, helping her to move through it all.

In the process, I took on her pain as my own & felt, in that brief moment, like the worst mom on the planet -- knowing that I am she who put the cause of said hurt into motion.

And, as much as I wish I could say it was a mutual decision in this uncoupling, it really wasn’t. The choice has been on me, casting me as the heartbreaker in this narrative (because you only get to choose the role in your own life -- not how you occur for others). Faaaaaaawk, those are hard pills to swallow.

But, despite all of that... Every time I drop in -- out of my head and into my heart -- when I just let go and feel into the all-knowing essence of my soul -- that familiar feeling of calm, and comfort, and clarity takes over.

The message is the always same. “You are on the right path.”
“This is for the highest & best good of all.”
“It’s hard now, yes. But, keep going.”
“Trust”

Following your heart, coming into alignment, leaning into your purpose -- not easy work.

I avoided taking action for longer-than-I-care to admit because I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

It’s still not easy. Every day, I do the work, though. [Cont in comments...]

I’d been trying to find the words to do that whole annual “hey world, I’m one year older” post but, as of late, I’ve been suffering from a little writer’s block and a lot of depression. In the 38 years I’ve had on this planet, I’ve learned a lot about myself, but the introspective journey I’ve been on the last 3 years, has been a rude awakening to learning how much I put the needs & wants of others before my own, how shitty I am at setting personal boundaries and how much I stifle my voice to appease others.
So this next journey around the sun, is the year I find my true voice, speak it as brash & boldly as @uproxxtravel says I am (hey thanks for the #vanlife love you guys) and love my self! I keep saying this over and over to myself but I think maybe putting it on the internet helps me stick to it.

Don’t forget to love yo self too. Cause lord knows there’s enough insecure people taking out their lack of self love on other people on social media. So here’s another naked photo of me taken by @pyro4lif, for all you haters out there to hate on. For the record, I’mma keep posting nudes until there’s enough self love & respect for women in this world that everyone feels comfortable enough in their own skin to be naked or at least not be internet bullies to any woman who is.

Would you dive with 🦈!?
-
Sharks are one of the most misunderstood and heavily demonized animals on the planet. In Hawaiian culture, they are regarded as "aumakua," or deceased family members whose souls have transcended into living animals. They are regarded with the highest level of respect. Pretty different to how we see them, isn't it?
-
My plan was to go shark diving for the thrills, but I ended up learning so much and getting a lot more than I bargained for.
-
Yes, they're apex predators, but they're not the "Jaws" we think they are. And while many people might be scared to step in the water and go face-to-face with them, the fact is that they're disappearing at an alarming rate.
-
Over 100 million sharks are killed by humans every year, primarily for shark fin soup which is falsely believed to contain superhuman nutrients. It’s served as a status symbol in certain counties and is claimed to have health benefits which actually have no scientific bases.
-
So, I ask you...which one of us is the real predator? 🤔
-
Thanks to the team at @oneoceandiving for showing me these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat on the north shore of Oahu! 🌊💦

This photo was taken one month ago, my uncle was quite amused by the filters and got a kick out of this one in particular. Jim Basically has always treated me like I was the 4th Neidhart girl, something I secretly always longed to be. I’m very grateful I was able to visit with him last month. He marvelled over my hair colors, almost every conversation we had assuring me that it was cool and so was I, and at the time I didn’t realize how much that meant to me, having that father figure acceptance that I claimed to never need. I honestly have such fond memories of my uncle through out my life time. My heart breaks for my beloved cousins @natbynature @tjwilson711 @kristinculbreth, Jenni Neidhart and my aunt Ellie, who is one the strongest toughest women on the planet! (I love you all more then I could ever explain) and big Jim, I love you too xxxox. Thank you for just being our uncle. 💔💔💔 #ripjimneidhart #jimneidhart #iloveyou

Haven't posted since Thanksgiving time & I simply want to share that I'm extremely thankful for the career I've had in professional wrestling over the last 18 yrs. But what some may or may not know is that at my very core, I Am An Actor First and Foremost. Have been since I was 8 yrs old performing with my brother at Christmas time in Austin TX at the Paramount Theatre in Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol (Ebenezer's childhood friends in his past lol). I LIVE TO ACT! I don't care if on stage or for the camera or as a street performer. I LOVE ACTING! Wrestling is something I happen to be ok at (some might even say "good" 😂), and the vast opportunities it has presented me with, from travelling across foreign lands to meeting an incredible amount of beautiful souls, has left me with a feeling of gratitude that is irreplaceable. As I write this I am currently injured worse than ever w/ a completely fractured collar bone & torn ligaments in my left shoulder. I am in a great deal of discomfort in every movement I make...and...I must be honest when I say that I truly have no idea if I will ever step into another professional wrestling ring as a physical performer again. I know, I know... Never say never right? However, Wrestling is simply one grand novel on my book shelf (one I read countless times), but I would be fibbing if I told you I still hunger for it like I once did. I am 10 days out from completing 38♈yrs on this amazing planet & while I have no doubts that I will fully recover...the question will always haunt me as to whether or not I can perform at an "acceptable" level. I have my standards as you do yours. Every performer worth their wages should always have standards, regardless of "levels". I love you all for supporting me throughout this wild journey, and all I ask is that you continue to do what you dig, pursue what excites you & LIVE for what truly moves you in this lifetime for it is all too short & could end in a blink w/ one bad fall 💔. Please respect my privacy as I oftentimes prefer to remain silent and aloof in such matters, but mark my words as I PROMISE YOU I AM NEVER FINISHED PERFORMING for myself or for you all 💘! #GoodJourney 🎭

They were all taken by @jimthornburg, an absolute legend. I grew up watching jaw dropping Thornburg photos on cover after cover of the magazines. It’s all in a hell of a book, and if you need or want a Christmas present for that climber in your life that has everything, pop over to Jim’s feed and pick up a copy of Stone Mountains. It’s a massive compendium of a life’s work documenting the most magical climbs and climbers on the planet. So stoked to see this amazing book. Been staring at it for the last few evenings getting SO Fing STOKED about all the places I haven’t yet been! It’s a cool mix of psyche and climber history, and it’s totally one of the best climbing books ever published. Allez!! And I should note that No, I’m not making a cent by pimping this book. It’s just rad. And that’s it.

Saturn has been stomping in the earth sign governed by the Goat: The Capricorn is a realistic sign that loves having solid ground under its feet. Saturn Direct brings immediate relief to our long-term plans and assists with removing obstacles from our lives and plans. This new energetic influence will help us find our footing and get out of the limiting hole in the ground we've been stuck in. .
.
When a planet spends more than one Earthly season in retrograde, we become too familiar with its energy. So much so, that once the planet finally goes direct, we feel as though our eyes have now been opened for the first time. As if we suddenly no longer have our heads in the sand. These transition points in and out of retrograde can be quite impactful!
.
.
After experiencing many retrograde in the last few months and the passing of Eclipse Season, we will feel a BIG push forward. Within the next 3-4 weeks, expect many breakthroughs as secret passageways in your life will begin to open for you.
.
.
With great breakthroughs comes great responsibilities. Now that you will finally have two feet on solid ground, you absolutely must take control over your life. Health and finances should be your top priority for September and will remain in the spotlight for the rest of 2018.
.
.
We are Witches and live in a world that responds in-kind to the energies we emit. When we focus on prosperity, abundance and health, we create and experience more of the same. Alternatively, when you focus less, you get less. Try to practice gratitude for all that you currently have and all that you currently know. Consciously tune your mind and your energy field to feelings of gratitude. Know that by doing so, you are opening the door in order to receive even more. .

Can I take a moment to apologize for jumping off of Instagram for August? As you can see from my breakouts, I have been a bit stressed with work, school, and balance recently. You know that overwhelming social media anxiety thing I’ve spoken about in the past? Yeah, for some reason it focuses around Instagram and hit me smack in the face.💩 Does anybody else deal with this? I think it centers around some OCD-tendencies, where I open Instagram, look at my feed, have no idea how to organize it, and get immensely overwhelmed. I’m strange. I know. But at least I’m honest, working towards understanding/fixing the issue, and using rideshares to save the environment at the same time. 🚙 If you saw my ‘foundation tested’ video on YouTube, I spoke in detail about Jared and Chloe leaving, and how I’m feeling about all that stuffs. 😕 School is back full swing, and although work has been coco-nuts, 🥥 I’m really excited to be working, with a few new people like @erinmelaniie who really embrace the same morals and values that I do, and strengthen my weaknesses in such beautiful ways.🌸 My days have been scheduled down to the 15 mins, but over this week my goal is to loosen up when it comes to having to control everything, and go with the flow a little bit more. Example: yesterday at the beach, seeing my friends for the last time before they leave. ✈️ I’m excited to say that I have been growing, expanding, and working towards a better future for myself, people that I care about, and the planet. 💜So here’s a reminder to make today better than yesterday, put one foot in front of the other, and give back when you can. Looking forward to seeing you regularly on the instagrams this week 😊 #iloveyou #lifeupdate #giftfromlyft #saveourplanet

If you have been following us for the last 3 or 4 months, you know that Laney and Mae were the best of friends. Laney came to us in early May. Her back was broken during her disbudding. Mae came along soon after. Mae was born with deformed front legs and kind if looked like a tiny kangaroo. They were immediately the best of friends. Mae comforted Laney as her back healed and their relationship was special. When we moved to our new location, Laney and Mae had their own stall together. We always found them curled up together. Unfortunately, just a few weeks ago, Mae tragically passed. We were worried about how Laney would handle it, but she quickly fit in with our other special needs babies. She was no longer in pain snd started cruising around in her little pink cart. Laney has been the "welcome committee" at GOA. She is always standing and the gate to greet you with the silliest and most lovable personality on the planet. Herr broken back caused nerve damage. Her back legs and bladder lost function. Over the last couple of weeks, we have bern battling bloat. Our vet said she has been struggling because of the nerves not functioning. We have been treating her with medication, exercising her, massaging her and watching her hay intake. It's been a constant battle. Our night staff tucked her away in her stall at 8:30 this evening and at 10:30, our barn manager, Arlene, went to the barn to check in. I can't believe what I'm about to write. She called me and told me that Laney was dead. I rushed to the barn snd she was gone. I punctured her rumen to release the gas and started CPR, but it was too late. Our Laney is gone. I am in shock. This is our 3rd loss in the last few weeks and a HUGE loss. Laney's best friend just died and now she's gone too. I am in shock. I can't even cry yet. I dread this post because I don't want the trolls to feel validated. I don't want you guys to feel like we are depressing. But I also want to be real, and I want you to know what happens here. Laney was happy. She loved her life. I hope she is with Mae again now. Please keep GOA in your thoughts. This is a tough one. Laney was so very special.

If you had a nice warm place to sleep last night, your blessed. That's only two things I mentioned. Be thankful for those things. Remember there are over a billion people on this planet who don't have those two, and those people are just as special as you are. Tonight I had the great fortune – thanks to @waynesbasement – of seeing the world premiere of the final episode ever of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. The episode’s subject is the people and culture of one of the planet’s great melting pots: the Lower East Side. The premiere was held inside an old synagogue on Norfolk Street, less than five blocks from the tenement where my grandpa grew up. Tony drinks an egg cream from Ray’s, has matzoh brei at B&H, has dinner with Debbie Harry, and this is a shot of him laughing over pierogies at Veselka. In many ways, the Lower East Side is the perfect distilled capsule of what Tony has been trying to show us for the last 15 years. If this episode is his legacy, it’s a fitting end.

"It feels like the beginning of the rest of my life," she said to me a few nights ago, and I can't help but agree -- to some extent, it does feel that way. And as she goes into this new era of her scholastic life, I'm really proud of her: - She's really funny. Lord, this child is funny. I don't think there's anyone on the planet who can make me weak with laughter like this kid. And her wit is clever. And incisive. And culturally relevant. And political. And wry. - She goes out of her way to make people feel included. Alex is the one who'll spot the new kid from across the room, and make sure he's welcomed. She's been this way since she was born, and it's one of her greatest gifts. - She's smart, but more importantly, there's nothing she can't do if she sets her mind to it. When she wants to make something happen, she'll make it happen. - She's creative. If there's a way to interpret or explain or express something through some sort of art form, she will find a way.

As a parent, there are tons of things that I know I'll worry about as she enters her high school years, but honestly, that's my job. Her job is to remain curious. I hope the next four years are filled with her trying new artistic and creative passions, and she learns about her own gifts, and how she'd like to use them to shape her own life. I hope she tries new adventures, knowing that her dad and I are here to guide her along the way, while at the same time, she becomes her own person, ready to one day be independent of us. And I hope that by the time senior year comes to an end, she's ready to soar. (Actually, that last sentence is the one thing I'm NOT worried about. She'll be ready.) ✨

This week I’m sharing work from some of my favorite photographers covering natural history. Please join me in supporting these incredibly talented people!
From @michellevalbergphotography // “One of my most favourite things to do is to kayak with my camera at our cottage on Sharbot Lake, Ontario, Canada. For years, I had photographed these two common loons (they return every year) and I had always hoped they would nest close to our cottage. Last year, it finally happened.

Over the years, I had developed a great relationship with these two loons in particular and they became very accepting of my presence, even with their chicks. I am always out before the sun rises and on this morning, it was raining, which I think makes the image more dramatic and my low vantage point, makes it feel more intimate. Creating emotion with wildlife is always my top intention. Creating awareness to what we have to lose if we don't care for our planet better is also important.
You don't have to go to exotic far away places to photograph. Just go out into your own backyard, park, lake or nature trail and see what you can find! There will always be something there waiting for you.” Follow @michellevalbergphotography for more inspiring images.

I'm completely exhausted, running on only five hours of sleep but every single moment was worth it! From sitting alone in the camp fireplace getting a morning read in, to running up prehistoric rock formations, hiking up sand dunes, befriending fellow travellers from all over the world, (lots of folks from Madrid today) and to finishing the day with a glorious sunset. I have no complaints, how can one? Do you see this Red Planet-like view? •

This is how life should be lived, filled with adventure, stepping out of your comfort zone and committing to stretching your mind and being a better you, each and every single moment! Hunter Thompson said it best, " Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” And what a ride today, the last day of 2018, has been! You don't want to miss today's IG stories. I did my best to make you feel as if you are with me. •

I'm spending NYE exactly how I spent it two years ago while in Agra, India. In bed, brimming with excitement(beyond exhausted though after driving two hours north from Wadi Rum)  about the next location. If you're going out tonight, HAVE AN AMAZING TIME! See you in 2019! •

📷 Couple from Madrid. Gracias!

It’s the last day of 2018, so MY RECORD OF THE YEAR is this: “Death Spells” by @holyfawnmusic. Holy Fawn is a young band from Tempe, Arizona, & this is their first full length album. I will not describe this record by throwing a bunch of meaningless & ridiculously specific sub genres into a mixing bowl, sprinkling a few band names on top, tossing it all about & then VOILA! there you have it, Le Record Review! This is intellectually lazy, & quite frankly SHIT WRITING (just like 90% of what passes for “music journalism” today.) In general terms, the album is beautiful, heavy, & hypnotizing- listening from top to bottom will take you on a trance-inducing journey. In more specific terms- imagine driving down your favorite stretch of beautiful road on the planet. You’re alone, well fed, and on your way to do your favorite activity. No one will be watching you, you aren’t doing this for anyone’s approval, it’s a day just for you to do exactly what you want, with zero responsibilities other than to have the best time possible. What music will you listen to on the way? For me, it’s Route 12 South on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, specifically the section between Oregon Inlet and Rodanthe. It’s a warm fall day, with a beautifully clean head-high swell in the ocean- I’m about to surf uncrowded perfect waves. I look over to my left as I drive, catching glimpses of blue sky meeting blue ocean, & as the music cranking out of the speakers folds around me, rising and falling in perfect harmony with the ever-shifting natural beauty passing by, I know that all is well in the universe in this moment. That was a real experience this year, & that is what this record sounds like. Use your imagination, then check out Holy Fawn “Death Spells”- you can buy it from their bandcamp site: https://holyfawn.bandcamp.com/album/death-spells.
