If your answer is yes, then researchers at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute need your help!

They are conducting a study into whether breaking up long periods of sitting can help lower glucose and insulin levels in women with PCOS. The research aims to identify an easy, lifestyle behavioural strategy that can ultimately decrease any future risk of a woman with PCOS developing type 2 diabetes.

The Institute is seeking women aged 18-45 years, who have a BMI between 25-35 kg/m2 and have PCOS, to take part in this study. Women would need to attend three study visits (about 2-5 hours) at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne. Participants will be reimbursed for their time.

It's caused other conditions that I have already been diagnosed with and others that I'm still struggling with and praying for answers as to what's going on and why.
Most days I struggle. Struggle to believe in myself. Struggle as to why I have to go through all of this. Struggle to look in the mirror.----> the mirror shows tired eyes...it shows a stomach that's bloated at times...it shows my face that most days can't even bear a smile from the frown brought by the pain. The mirror shows my thinning hair....the mirror shows.
The mirror shows the outside...it doesn't show what's invisible.
PCOS is raw. It's painful. It has brought anxiety and depression. Weight gain. Digestive issues. Chronic fatigue. The list goes on....invisible.
This morning as one of my favorite gospel songs played I'm reminded of the question "why should I worry?" That's a hard question to swallow!
When I feel all alone God is still there. He will hold me when all I want to do is cry. He will listen me when my prayers have no words. He meets my every need in His time not in mind. "Why should I worry?" CT and Becky Townsend "Out on the waters storms raging high, the waters around them were trouble that night, fear filled their hearts they felt they would die,
they failed to remember that the master was nigh, he spoke the words and winds all stood still
even the waters obey his will,
he calmed their storm like he will mine, if I just remember he lives deep inside.
Chorus:
Why should I worry why should I fear,
when the very same Jesus he stays always near,
he lives in my heart and he hears when I cry,
I’ll call on his name till the storm passes by.
Verse: 2
We read in the bible when he walked with them,
brought light to the darkness when the way grew dim,
how great it would be to have his footsteps in mine,
and walk with the master all of the time,
and when trials come and death seems so nigh,
I’ll call on the master I know he’ll get there on time,
and when sickness comes and my body’s in pain
all I have to do is call on his name!
So...why should I worry?

There are a number of foods that are beneficial for women with PCOS including plenty of vegetables! Generally, these are foods that have been cooked and are eaten warm or at room temperature. In Chinese medicine, cold and raw foods increase the work load for metabolism and digestion as more energy is required to warm the nutrients up (remember we are ~37 degrees). Cooking food is therefore an important pre-digestive step for improving metabolism and digestion, particularly for people who are sensitive to cold!
Regular eating patterns also help to prevent insulin spikes and manage central weight gain. Goji berries are also thought to be good for insulin resistance and fertility in Chinese medicine! ❤️. #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosfighter #pcosdiet #pcoswarrior #pcoscyster #pcoscysters #pcossupport #pcosweightloss #nourishyourbody #chinesemedicine #foodismedicine #insulin #veggies #metabolism #digestion #gojiberries #goji #diabetes #chronillness #infertility #fertility #hormones #fightpcos #pco #fitfood #cleaneats #cleaneating #eatclean #balanceddiet

But this time, I didn't want to pressure myself in loosing weight faster. My focus is to just let myself be and just be healthy. I have more pounds to shed to level and regulate the hormones which the doctors and I are working on, specially me with PCOS, but, I just want to celebrate this little achievement....here's to more pounds to shed! In Episode 1411 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show,” Registered Nutritional Therapist Ximena de la Serna (@thefunctionalforce) is our interview guest today. Ximena is a Nutritional Therapist and Digital Entrepreneur from Colombia and based in the UK. At age 13 she was diagnosed with PCOS and her #health began to plummet. The ‘solution’ she was given: take the pill and carry on. Little she knew her early life experiences and nutrition got her there and it could actually be fixed without drugs. Coming from a family of doctors and always interested in human performance from an early age, Ximena started investigating. Her focus on genetics, female #hormones and nutrition got her studying Nutritional Therapy in the following years. During her 30s, 7 months into the #LCHF lifestyle, she was clear of PCOS after two decades of suffering, to her doctors’ astonishment. Today she runs XimenadelaSerna.com andFunctionalFemaleForce.com where she’s devoted to empowering the #Hispanic woman to take charge and chase their dreams and desires while overcoming PCOS, diabetes, hormonal imbalances and optimizing their DNA expression. She also teaches the scientific #fertility method that helps any woman be in control and achieve optimal fertility health without drugs.
*
Listen in today as Jimmy talks with Ximena about her passion for spreading the keto message, especially to the Spanish-speaking world, female alopecia, dealing with hair loss, how she healed hers with an LCHF #keto approach, women’s #health and #empowerment, what she thinks about birth control drugs, PCOS, and much more.
*
“After so many years on birth control pills, when I came off of them my body had forgotten how to have regular cycles because it had been shut down for so long.” – @XimenadelaSerna

. 🚨This time I need YOUR ADVICE 🙏🏼
lets talk periods. I’m currently on week 2 of mine and a hormonal truck of emotion.🤪
.

I have never quite had a normal cycle. With ENDOMETRIOSIS my periods were, BARBARIC is the only way i can describe it. 💔 Agonisingly painful, heavy and lasting about 10 days or more. 😩 There wasn’t a bed sheet i hadn’t destroyed, it was really embarrassing 😞. I would have to wear a tampon and sanitary towel, even then I would worry that i would leak. I THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL!!!! 🤭

This was before moon cups. 🌍
Side note) I still can’t quite believe that We Women have to BUY sanitary product and that is is TAXED. 🥀

This basic human necessity is taxed 5% , postage stamps are not taxed, BINGO, jaffa cakes, & sewer cleaning to name a few. sort it our @theresamay 🚨

How did i find out i had PCOS?

I was suffering from agonising pains in my side for a while. Went to the doctor and was told it was my IBS flare up. Collapsed at home rushed to hospital and had an emergency operation to remove ruptured cysts from my ovaries. I then had my bloods tested for hormonal imbalances and was diagnosed with PCOS. I was given a mirena coil which stopped my period completely for 5years.
I recently changed my coil but was told I have a very large FIBROID which is right over my cervix, & to have it removed I have to have an operation so was told to wait until i decide to have children.. Should I freeze my eggs? I’m really confused. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤰🏼 I have begun to have my periods again, and I am now worried that the fibroid has grown more. 😫

I wish I had answers and more knowledge to share with you but of course I am not a doctor. 👩🏼‍⚕️ So what am I going to do?? My lifestyle has very much changed since being diagnosed with pcos, what I eat and how active I am has significantly helped.

I am asking for your help & advice this time, I would love for you to share with me your experience with me .
Thank you ladies

At 18 I was diagnosed with PCOS, as a PCOS sufferer my period was always unpredictable and ferocious. I could go MONTHS (and use HEAPS of pregnancy tests) without a visit from Aunt Flo!
Since having weight loss surgery in July the surgeon and his team had talked me through some of the changes, outside of just weight loss, that would happen to my body. One of those being the effect that it may have on my PCOS symptoms.
I am 3 months post op and 27kg down and I have noticed some huge changes to my symptoms caused by PCOS. My pain is now minimal, my cycle is much calmer and I, for the first time in FOREVER have a 28 day cycle.
Queue Clary Calm!! This beautiful blend of Pure doTERRA Essential Oils has been my little pocket rocket for the last 3 months, I was using it before surgery and noticed its effects but they have been compounded since surgery.
I roll this blend on my lower abdomen every single day as well as diffusing when I need an emotional pick me up. (Just pop the rollerball off the top and use a pipet to get a couple of drops for the diffuser)
Here are some of the ways you can use and how I use this beautiful blend; 💧During your menstrual cycle, apply to abdomen to experience a soothing and calming massage.
💧During moments of heat, apply to the skin for a cooling, soothing effect.
💧Diffuse for a calming aroma that helps soothe heightened emotions.
💧Helps balance mood throughout the month.
💧Provides a soothing and calming effect during a woman's menstrual cycle.

If you want to know more about this little pocket rocket, send me a message or to get started on your own oil journey as a wholesale member with our support head to http://mydoterra.com/shangrilaoils and click 'join and save' 💥It REALLY is the BEST oil for your worst week, PERIOD! 💥

Keto isn’t just about weight loss. In fact, #keto was created to help childhood epilespy back in the 1920's. Sometimes people hear keto and think fast weight loss, but there is so much science and research that shows just how beneficial a ketogenic lifestyle can be not just for epilepsy but also inflammation, auto immune diseases, hormone regulation, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, TBI, etc. So when I get stories, like @Kortnikae, that talk about how healing keto has been for her PCOS it’s so fulfilling because it just shows that this is more than a diet, this is healing your body from the inside out. Link in bio if you want to give it try yourself!⠀
#⠀
"Being diagnosed with #PCOS at 15, I didn't know the challenges ahead of me. After 20 years of struggling, trying every diet and trick imaginable, I finally found the solution. ⠀
#⠀
On January 2, 2018 I started my adventure of the Keto Lifestyle. I had seen Drew on Dr. Oz and thought, "Wow, I wonder if that could work for me.... Doubtful." ⠀
#⠀
Fast forward a few months later and my sister convinced me that we should try it. We both have PCOS, Reverse T3 and T4 hypothyroidism. I have the added fun of no gallbladder, which made me nervous. My worries were quickly calmed. Keto has been life changing for me. It is not a diet; it is a lifestyle. I don’t even have to think about it! It has become second nature... 75% fat/20% protein/5% fat. ⠀
#⠀
Something so simple has changed everything. My acanthosis nigricans have almost disappeared, PCOS is under control, my thyroid is working. 2018 is the year I get to take my life back from what became a life sentence at 15. I make new goals and challenges every day and am excited to make progress!" #transformationtuesday, #motivation #ketogenicdiet #ketodiet #poweroffood #fit2fat2fit #ketofrolife

If you have PCOS, hair fall generally comes along with it.Signs like hair fall, acne, weight that is hard to lose and or irregularities in your cycle suggests that you could have mild PCOS and not full blown. So here are some basic supplements you can take (apart from the one’s I spoke about in my previous post) and the food you can eat if your Hair fall is due to PCOS. An inflamed gut can be one of the reasons you have PCOS.
Introducing these foods to your diet will help with curing both. Your damaged gut and hair fall. #1: Bone broth as a snack: The combination of collagen and amino acids is great for healing your gut and hair growth. (If you’re vegan, check out the recipe in my highlights)
#2: Krill oil or Omega 3 fatty acids: 2000 mg IS SAFE AND necessary for consumption daily. It helps with hormonal balance and a healthier gut by decreasing inflammation and supporting thicker hair growth. #3: Organic green teas: Sipping on organic green tea will help with detoxification, promotes and anti inflammatory gut setting you up for a better sleep cycle. It is loaded with antioxidants and promotes sleep cycle #hairfall #pcos #eatclean #pcosfood #nutritiondubai #nutritionistmumbai #pcossupplements

Just wanted to follow up with the health issue I mentioned in a previous post. I hope this will help other women struggling with symptoms and no clear diagnosis. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). In my early 20’s, I started having pretty much every symptom of PCOS. I was that woman that had trouble gaining weight and would never go over 110 lbs or a size 2. All of a sudden, if I wasn’t eating perfectly and working out super hard at least 5-6 days a week, I would easily gain 20 lbs in less than a month. My friends thought I was exaggerating. My perfect skin that I had even in my teens was now breaking out and only remained close to perfect with birth control. I struggled with bouts of depression, anxiety and extreme fatigue. I saw so many doctors that never fixed the issue. What’s crazy is that as an egg donor, I’ve had many, many ultrasounds of my ovaries which never showed cysts. Some women don’t have the cysts which can lead to a diagnosis of PCOS. And so, the frustration continues. I have a doctor appointment with an endocrinologist pending and hope to have a more specific protocol for healing. My skin is starting to clear up and I’m trying to find better balance in how I manage my weight as my approach has always been very aggressive and strict. One of the biggest challenges is the extreme fatigue and brain fog that is way more severe than just your normal distracted and busy mind. It was really scary when I didn’t know what the cause was... I sometimes have to take multiple naps during the day and find myself dozing off while driving. Even having a conversation can be a challenge as I forget words or what I’m talking about entirely, mid sentence. I really have to focus carefully! Haha. I thought there was something horribly wrong with me but I’m able to process it now that I know the root of the issue. I am so happy that I can finally be proactive about fixing my body so please don’t feel bad for me. 😬 If this is an aha! moment for you, let me know. If you have PCOS and feel comfortable sharing, I’d love you to write some tips/advice. #pcos

What Stack should I be using for PCOS? .
✔️Alpha Venus – This helps to balance the Estrogen and Androgen Ratio to normal levels in the body to enable the correct conversion of Testosterone to Estrogen during the cycle, which will help to limit the cystic activity of the ovaries that stems for excess testosterone causing growth on the reproductive organs. .
✔️T432 – This helps to balance insulin sensitivity, promote a healthy thyroid conversion pathway system, increase metabolic function and also contains a good source of Zinc which is great for the skin and is very effective in blocking DHT which is usually higher in cases of PCOS, Cystic Acne can be and external area often shown as an external representation of PCOS.
.
✔️Multi-food – Helping to improve the detoxification pathways, Folate and conversion pathways in the body and also is a great source of Zinc to help block the 5-Alpha Reductase pathway to DHT in the body which may assist with the Hair Thinning and the Acne too. .
👉A dosage protocol for this would look similar to this:
Alpha Venus – 2 x morning and 2 x evening or all 4 in the morning.

T432 – 1 x capsule 3 times a day with meals.

Multi-food 3 x caps in the morning.

I am @mrs.zaragoza. This is #myPCOSstory. I have been going to the doctors since my early 20's begging for help because I couldn't lose weight - no matter how hard I was trying. I have had several gym memberships, personal trainers and have tried an EXTREMELY long list of various programs & "diets" (hate that word). Plus, another issue was I was unable to get pregnant. Doctors just said it was because I was overweight. By chance, my insurance accidentally changed my OBGYN. I saw a doctor in August of 2015. He asked me what I did for exercise. At that time I was doing both CrossFit and the gym 5 times a week. He took one look at me and said "Hmm..you dont look like you work out". I was mortified, offended and just started to cry immediately and told him "this has been a problem for the past 15 years...no one believes I work out or that I eat healthy" Then he mentioned PCOS. I had no idea what this was nor had I ever heard of it. He has put me on several medications since and none seem to help with weightloss. Those of you who have PCOS can relate. Its just so hard. Since this is obviously a LIFE LONG issue.
FYI, this same doctor also diagnosed me with endometriosis.

I work with many women in my practice who have PCOS and most of them have been given the birth control pill to manage and ‘fix’ their hormones. This is NOT a solution 😣
-
Did you know that the pill can actually cause insulin resistance? Some women will get PCOS when they come OFF the pill. The pill will not solve your hormonal imbalances nor is it the solution for healing from PCOS.
-
Strategies to heal PCOS include:
1. Balancing blood sugar/healing insulin resistance - eating Whole Foods, removing sugar, eating healthy fats + protein + veggies 🥦🥥🍠
-
2. Supplementation - being strategic with what YOU need and getting on a protocol that will support your hormones 👌
-
3. Lifestyle - from stress, to sleep, to environmental toxins, there are numerous things to take into consideration and assess. Remove toxins from makeup/beauty care, support the adrenals and create a healthy sleep routine 😴
-
My High Fat, Low Carb weight loss program addresses ALL of the above and has been an incredible program for women with PCOS. We currently have registration open and if you have questions about it, let me know 🤗

2017 has been truly a blessing!!The entire reason I reached out to Adonis in 2016 because of my battle and failure at trying to conceive due to obesity, PCOS, high triglycerides, and prediabetes!! Exactly one year of many - many workouts, clean eating, sweat, tears, failures, successes, and plateaus on repeat 🔁, I couldn’t be more proud, thrilled, thankful and excited to announce that in May of 2018 my husband and I are expecting a baby 👶🏼 girl. No words can express how I feel because I was that girl that never thought it would happen!! For anyone going trough the same struggle, take care of you first and never ever give up

For those who don't know PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome is a hormonal disorder that causes many little cysts to form on your ovaries. Some of the symptoms can include irregular or no period, hair growth in places you shouldn't have hair, acne, weight gain, & a harder time losing weight, fatigue, and sometimes depression or anxiety & infertility. Even though a lot of the time women with PCOS are overweight, have bad hair growth, cysts on their ovaries, etc -that isn't always the case. There are women who are a normal weight and don't deal with all the symptoms all at once. Even though 1 out of every 10 women has this disorder there is still so much we don't know about it or how to treat it.
I was diagnosed with PCOS & insulin resistance in 2011 after having a surgery to remove a 15 lb ovarian cyst and it has been an uphill battle ever since. My weight has fluctuated so much over the years, but ultimately I have gained over 100 lbs in the past 6 years & I have had the HARDEST time losing the weight and keeping it off. Not only do I battle with my weight but I also battle with my self-esteem, anxiety, and depression & these are things I deal with on a daily basis. PCOS is such a silent disease because looking at someone with the disorder you wouldn't know it and you wouldn't know the struggles that she deals with on the daily. People sometimes look at us as if we are lazy or don't take care of ourselves but that is the furthest from the truth. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Sindrom ovarium polikistik (PCOS)

Having #PCOS for years, I was surprised to come across this amazing cookbook, not only does the author herself have it but shares such an amazing insight into PCOS, most of which I never knew and have never had the doctors even share with me! I've enjoy the information it is so much that I'm going to purchase the hard copy to have on hand instead of always going to my E-book.
The recipes vary from snacks (gold angel food cake to apple cinnamon bread) to beef/chicken dishes, vegetarian dishes, smoothies and more! She also shares what to avoid or restrict but also what to eat more of and what to keep in moderation. I'm overly pleased with this book and will absolutely recommend to friends and family even those who don't have PCOS. I launched my PCOS program around a month ago and the more and more I work closely with my clients with PCOS the more and more passionate I get about it
-
That may sound strange coming from a male, but it’s the truth. PCOS is not just an ‘excuse’ like I constantly hear from Personal Trainers, you’re just a totally uneducated numskull
-
This condition has such a huge physical and emotional effect on those who have it and I am happy to spread the education, understanding, and empathy towards the condition

I grow it out and sometimes I take it off, just to mix things up. Currently not sporting it, but bout to grow it out for the dark season🖤🌌 I feel like my magic is stronger when it's longer 🔮It took me many years before I learned that I didn't have to feel shame about it and that I could actually LOVE it. I even tried to banish it with electrolysis, once upon a time (my chops aren't as glorious as they once were) I like to put essential oils and shimmer in it and twist it into little beard cyclones for fun. I gotta get some better pics of my beard baby. Y’all. For real. This should be FUN! If you can’t laugh at yourself and enjoy a twenty minute 🍑 kicking with a girlfriend, you are seriously missing out! ⁣

Accountability and friends doing this alongside of you-encouraging you- laughing at and with you- busting a sweat 💦- and making this fun is what it’s all about. It’s what keeps me coming back you guys. ⁣

For YEARS I was feeling like crap. Granted, it’s because I was fighting through infertility and pumping myself full of hormones💉 for years- but during that time I also lost who I was. I let it take over. I gave up on feeling good in my skin again because I just assumed I’d always feel bloated and carry the extra PCOS weight. ⁣

Until I said forget that nonsense!! ⁣👊🏻

I decided that I AM actually in control of my body. And I was made to feel more than I was walking around feeling— which was tired, crappy, bloated, and uncomfortable in my skin and my mental health was suffering right along with it. ⁣

It’s not just about the weight you guys. 🧭I have never considered myself “fat”.... just puffy and out of shape. Oh- and not exactly healthy if we are being honest here. I mean- my levels were out of whack for a long time! ⁣

The way I feel inside is more important to me than the number on the scale. Always has been. I just wanted to feel comfortable and confident again. And that had been missing for years. ⁣💫

Now that I’m getting there- my confidence and comfort have skyrocketed! Yes the scale has definitely changed as a side effect. But, You guys. I have energy. I FEEL good. Mentally and physically. And even though the holidays were a boozy doozy 🤪— I’m back at it because I know exactly what to do and have the community behind me making me show up! ⁣

So what about you? Are you READY TO MAKE TODAY YOUR DAY ONE?! Or are you still thinking “one day”....? ⁣🤔

Jan 14th kicks off my next group. 🗓That means you only have a few days left to jump in before it closes! Think about how you want to feel, and then join me. I’d love nothing more than to take you on this journey with me! ⁣

I was diagnosed with PCOS, or polycystic ovarian syndrome, about 1.5 years ago. I have not been able to lose any weight in that time--nothing seemed to work! I tried the prescription appetite suppressants and metformin and thyroid and pretty much everything short of cocaine and a lap band...this weight won't budge. I'm now on week two of Kayla Itsines' bikini body guide, but am worried about her nutrition guide having so many carb calories. I have heard that I should be avoiding carbs completely because of pcos..is this true? Anyone who has experience with pcos--talk to me! I want to hear what sort of diet helps ease your symptoms and any other tidbits of info! At the moment I am working out regularly, avoiding carbs and potatoes, and taking metformin (my blood sugars are in the normal range, but I was told to take it to aid in weight loss). A bit of a health update... 😬 I got this letter in the mail a couple weeks ago and I was absolutely stunned. My OB/GYN fired me as a patient. I have never been rude to the staff, haven’t missed appointments, haven’t done anything really. When I got the chance to call them on the following Monday, I talked with the office manager. I was discharged (fired) for two reasons: 1) I didn’t see a pain specialist, and 2) I refused physical therapy - which can be seen as refusing treatment. 🙄 Okay, let’s break this down a bit. 1) I DID see a pain specialist and he’s wonderful. I just didn’t see the specific specialist she had recommended. As a patient, I have the right to choose who my doctors are. And 2) I didn’t see the point in pelvic floor physical therapy to reposition an extremely retroflexed uterus because the uterus isn’t a muscle you can train. And because my anatomy is so wonky, chances are that even if it did move a little (highly unlikely), it’d go right back to where it was. My GP agreed with me on that one. While discussing this with the office manager, she said that the doctor feels that there isn’t anything else they can really do for me. 😐 I don’t believe that for a second. When I told that to the lady on the phone, she simply replied, “I’m sorry that you don’t believe it.” 🖕🏼 Never once did this doctor suggest we try something different for my PCOS. I basically got ultrasounds when I felt like I had a cyst, doctor says, “Yep! It’s a complex hemorrhagic cyst,” and then they would send me on my way. Maybe being “discharged” is a blessing in disguise. ❗️ Important question: Are there any of you out there with PCOS that have a history of DVT, and how did the doctors treat your PCOS?

-
Way too many women with PCOS are following the ‘old’ way of exercising to lose weight, which is long sessions of aerobic exercise (spending 30+ mins doing cardio on the treadmill or other machines, sticking to spin or step classes)
-
This kind of exercise will increase your stress (cortisol) levels that will make your insulin resistance worse (IF you have IR)
-
To exercise effectively with PCOS you should stick to this simple strategy:
1-3 sessions of resistance exercise (weights)
1-3 sessions of HIIT cardio (15-20 mins MAX)
1-3 sessions of restorative exercise (slow walking, yoga etc)
Don’t base most of your exercise around aerobic exercise

For those who don't know, this is @maeve_madden - a food and fitness enthusiast who has learnt how to eat and train with #PCOS.
Her three top tips for beating the bloat?

1. Exercise every day - even if that's just a walk

2. I've reduced the intensity of workouts and do more pilates and yoga to reduce the added fatigue I feel with PCOS

3. Eating more protein helps as PCOS can make you more prone to insulin resistance

Conventional medicine typically treats PCOS as if only caused by insulin resistance and offers up Metformin or the birth control pill as solutions.  These are NOT solutions but only band-aids.  And the truth is that blood sugar issues and weight are not the ONLY contributing factors of PCOS.😣💊

Inflammation can also be an underlying factor.  Inflammation can be caused by stress, environmental toxins, gut pathogens and inflammatory foods.  Inflammation can prevent ovulation (low progesterone), disrupt hormone receptors, and stimulate adrenal androgen's such as DHEA and androstenedione (DHEA metabolites).👨‍🏫
..
As stress levels increase, cortisol increases.  As cortisol levels go up the body compensates by increasing DHEA production.  DHEA can be converted to testosterone by peripheral tissues in the body.  This causes symptoms of elevated testosterone seen in PCOS.  Acne, unwanted hair growth like on the face, or even hair loss.🤔
..
How do you know if this is the case for you?  Proper functional lab work like @dutchtest and working with a practitioner that understands this process.😉
..
How do you address the inflammation?  Investigating the root cause!  Managing stress, anti-inflammatory foods, addressing gut pathogens, supporting the liver and reducing toxins are a great place to start.  This is something I don't recommend trying to do on your own.  Get the support you need to get to the root!🌳 . . . . . .

Is that a Moustache? – and other shocking encounters of the PCOS Girl

Hell no! Like helllllllllllll naaaaah! That was my reaction when I saw the first out-of-place strand of hair on my chin! And this was soon followed by another…and then another! Cue shocked shriek! WTH was happening to me???! And then, the weight gain! That weight gain that comes with PCOS is REAL!!! It sneaks up on you like a thief in the NIGHT!

So, check this out! I used to be a skinny girl. Skinny, as in I had to take a popular drug to help me put on weight! Skinny, as in I once had to accompany all my meals with a Malt drink…just to put on weight! Skinny, as in eating was a necessity for me, and not something I could toy with!

Then all of a sudden, from nowhere, my clothes started getting tight! Ahn ahn?! My washboard flat stomach started bulging through my clothes! Was I dreaming?! And my scale which I used to literally beg to increase in number, suddenly increased by 5, 10, 15kg!!! Haaaa! The skinny girl had become a fatso! And it wasn’t fun!

I’m still struggling with weight loss, but the solution to the weight conundrum is simple. Even though us PCOS girls have to work harder at it, eating right and exercising often soon helps get us back to a decent weight! Fingers crossed!

I knew I’d post this eventually–it’s too big a part of my life to not share & learning how little awareness there is makes me mad– but I assumed that'd be when I had a before/after story🤷🏻‍♀️ But instead I had a moment at work. I mentioned my 26th birthday was coming up & got the usual “What?? I thought you were younger! You don’t look 26!” I know it’s because the combo of big eyes, bangs, & a tendency to derail any serious conversation make me look young. But all I could think was, “It’s the acne. No one should be 26 & have acne this bad. Everyone’s thinking it.” Then I remembered how hard I’ve worked & how far I’ve come, & was mad that I STILL CARE about something like acne.
I was diagnosed with Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) almost 2 years ago. I’d known I had a hormone imbalance for 4 years & had tried so many kinds of birth control. I’d gone back to the doctors looking for answers. The doctor kindly, but bluntly, said, “The blood tests show you have PCOS. It’s a genetic disease so there’s no cure, but you can control it. The only thing saving you right now is that you’re thin. Stay that way.” Spoiler- I didn’t stay that thin.
PCOS symptoms include: ☑️insulin resistance (exacerbating hormone imbalance)
☑️weight gain
☑️cystic acne
☑️fatigue & depression
☑️sugar cravings
☑️mood swings
☑️memory loss
☑️anxiety/headaches
☑️hirsutism (unwanted hair growth)
☑️insomnia ☑️vitamin deficiencies
☑️irregular periods
☑️infertility

I’ve felt like a stranger in my own body so many times. I’ve binge eaten entire batches of cookies. I’ve looked & not recognized myself. I’ve felt physically & emotionally repulsive. I’ve overreacted. I’ve shaved my face & cried. I’ve wondered @ age 24 if I had permanent short-term memory loss. I’ve read old text messages & asked, “I said that??” I’ve cried over nothing till I made myself sick. PCOS is literally the monster under my bed that’s always waiting for me. Exercise, diet, vitamins, supportive family & friends, & so many prayers have gotten me to where I am now, which is steadily improving. I haven’t won, but I’ve stopped feeling like a stranger & ended the destructive symptoms. Thank you to those who loved me at my darkest❤️

✨PCOS is the most common reason for infertility, irregular periods, hormone imbalances and possibly diabetes due to your body resisting insulin
✨Your risk for PCOS may be higher if you are obese or if you have a mother, sister, or aunt with PCOS.
✨SYMPTOMS- most women notice excess hair on their face, acne, weight gain, anxiety or depression due to hormone imbalances, thinning hair or irregular cycles, some women do not see these symptoms until later.
✨ We advise women to mainly avoid Dairy being it raises testosterone levels, Gluten which causes inflammation and Soy which is a hormone disruptor..

There are many different reasons for a woman’s cycle to get funky, but a very common reason is PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome.
So, how do you know if you, too, may be suffering from PCOS? 🛑irregular periods: Irregular periods are the most common sign of PCOS. For many women with PCOS, that means infrequent periods: For adults with the syndrome, periods typically occur at least 35 days apart. 🛑ovarian cysts: A trans-vaginal ultrasound (a type of pelvic ultrasound test) can reveal numerous cyst-like growths on the ovaries. A woman’s ovaries contain tiny, fluid-filled sacs known as ‘follicles,’ which hold the eggs. 🛑high levels of make sex hormones: The underlying cause of PCOS is an excess of male sex hormones circulating through a woman’s body. Testosterone, DHEA, androstenedione, or DHT are some examples of male sex hormones.
🛑 excess body hair: Excess body hair or hirsutism is one of the most dreaded PCOS symptoms. You may start to notice thick, dark, masculine pattern hair growth on various parts of the body. These parts include the chin, along the jawline, around the mouth, arms, legs and torso. 🛑scalp hair loss: Along with excess hair on the skin, a common PCOS symptom is male-pattern baldness. Scalp hair loss or Androgenic Alopecia is also caused by excess androgens.
🛑acne: Another commonly-experienced PCOS symptom is cystic acne (a more severe form of general acne.) PCOS acne is characterized by tender knots under the skin instead of surface bumps. These cysts are concentrated along the more “hormonally sensitive” areas of the skin – namely the jawline, cheeks, chin and upper neck, but can also occur on the chest and back.
🛑upper body weight gain: PCOS patients notice unexplained weight gain, especially excess fat around the shoulders, neck, and arms. This PCOS symptom is often caused by high levels of androgens coupled with insulin resistance and a reduced BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate).
🛑trouble losing weight: The biggest problem with PCOS-related weight gain is that it’s rather hard to lose. Usual low fat-low calorie diets simply do not work for such weight gain

(ᴾᴼᴸᵞᶜᵞˢᵀᴵᶜ ᴼᵛᴬᴿᴵᴬᴺ ˢᵞᴺᴰᴿᴼᴹᴱ)

I was scared shitless.
Before this I was the healthiest human ever.
I never even had the flu.
I felt like my body was betraying me.

But little did I know that it would be the best blessing in disguise.
It made me pay attention to my health instead of eating tuna helper and lean cuisines every night.
It brought so many amazing people into my life.
It made me stronger.
It made me realize I can heal myself with food and working on my mindset.

So PCOS.
I’m so grateful for you.
Since the day I took this picture I gained 15 more lbs.
Then lost it.
Then gained again. Then lost again.
Dealt with all the symptoms
But I overcame.
And also became more confident in the process.

You might suck at times but I’ve conquered you.
Now we just bros 🤙🏽

If YOU have pcos, know that you are not alone.
I know it can feel that way but you are SURROUNDED by women that DO know what you’re going through.
1 in 10 women go misdiagnosed.
So keep searching till you find a doctor that listens to you if you feel you might have it.
But also know that what you eat has a HUGE affect on your symptoms. ❣ I’m always here if you have any questions. 💌

Memperbesar sel telur agar dapat Ovulasi > that's the point😓
.
.
Waallahualam..

I had a doctors appt with a new endocrinologist. Finally had a sonogram and things are looking good (yay!). She prescribed metformin, I know it's common for PCOS women but I've had six cycles of clomid and letrozole without it. New to me so we'll see how it goes.
She's thinking the next step is injections for an LH surge in order to insure ovulation and hopefully pregnancy. She seems extremely positive about my case so that makes me feel better.
Still have a colposcopy next week and follow up with my primary to discuss the new endocrinologist. Time will tell I suppose.
I can't believe it's taken me so long to take this diagnosis seriously. I'm trying to stay positive but I feel like I'm starting too late and thusly at a disadvantage. So I choose to focus on what I can do now!! I can focus on my water intake and regulation. I can work on my personal fitness and healthy meals. I can work on my emotional happiness and well being. I can focus on water colors and singing, on my wonderful husband, on my precious fur baby Roscoe, and on the amazing family and friends I have here. I know PCOS isn't life threatening but it does require attention.

While there is no one direct correlation, here are a few of the most common causes that have been found: 🛑genes: Studies show that PCOS runs in families. It’s likely that many genes — not just one — contribute to the condition.
🛑insulin resistance: Up to 70 percent of women with PCOS have insulin resistance. meaning that their cells can’t use insulin properly. Insulin is a hormone the pancreas produces to help the body use sugar from foods for energy. When cells can’t use insulin properly, the body’s demand for insulin increases. The pancreas makes more insulin to compensate. Extra insulin triggers the ovaries to produce more male hormones.
🛑obesity: Obesity is a major cause of insulin resistance. Both obesity and insulin resistance can increase your risk for type 2 diabetes. 🛑inflammation: Women with PCOS often have increased levels of inflammation in their body. Being overweight can also contribute to inflammation. Studies have linked excess inflammation to higher androgen levels. 🛑excess androgen: The ovaries produce abnormally high levels of androgen, resulting in hirsutism and acne.

I struggled with the crazy symptoms of the disease.
I refused to become a victim or stay at the mercy of drugs that have a negative effect on my body.
I decided to find a way to fight back naturally.
I got rid of the weight, stopped the hair loss as well as the pain and I am officially clear of pre diabetes and I don’t have to worry about having a heart attack any more. Finally I took back my power.
It has been a long, hard, expensive road. I am grateful for this experience though. After using individual herbs, amino acids, minerals and a certain vitamin under the guidance of my doctor I gained back control.
Some of these ingredients were only available overseas, not anywhere in SA. Believe me I looked everywhere....
Knowing this affects 1 in every 10 women of child bearing age I realized how many other ‘cysters’ are based in SA struggling with conventional medicine.
Together with an incredible medical team and pharmaceutical manufacturing facility we have been able to source all the ingredients from around the world and put it together in SA as one product.
This changed my life.
My memory is back and my body, my skin is clearer, I don’t experience the fatigue among all the other chronic health issues but most importantly my self esteem and mental strength has been restored.

For all of you experiencing PCOS, you are not alone even though you feel like it. You can take control, you can fall pregnant, you don’t have to live with the pain of this disease.

Ladies struggling with similar symptoms of PCOS: irregular periods, unwanted weight, struggle falling pregnant, acne, hair loss or unwanted hair can also benefit from this supplement.

Crazy fact is that 70% of women who have this don’t know because they mild symptoms they are experiencing are thought to be PMS until it gets really bad and sometimes too late.
Spread awareness of PCOS please.
Save a life or improve one🙏

Any other women out there who deal with those pesky, thick chin hairs that pop up from time to time? 🙋🏼 In order to reduce the amount of excessive hair that grows on your chin/body (and increase the amount of luscious hair that grows from your actual HEAD), you may need to work on balancing your hormones - specifically #testosterone. ✨
I’ll talk about this more in depth when I start working on my PCOS series (because spearmint tea is an excellent herbal tool), but the basic issue that chin hair & PCOS often have in common is the presence of excess androgens (testosterone and other “male” hormones). A higher than normal amount of these hormones in women can lead to hirsutism (chin, face, chest and/or back hair), ovarian cysts, acne (especially chin/cystic), and head-hair loss. ✨
This is part of the reason why dairy is so bad for those with hormonal acne: dairy contains something called IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor) which means it has insulin-like activity. Too much insulin can prompt our ovaries to produce too much testosterone in the first place… so removing dairy alone can get to the root cause & give you some great relief! The more insulin (or IGF-1) you have, the more likely you are to develop hirsutism [1]. IGF-1 is also strongly linked to acne [2].

Luckily, something as simple as spearmint tea can help combat body/chin hair AND help balance your hormone levels. A 2010 study found that women with PCOS who drank 2 cups of spearmint tea per day for 1 month showed much lower testosterone levels than the control group. The study concluded that spearmint tea is a helpful natural treatment for hirsutism in PCOS [3].

Spearmint essential oil (which is released into the tea as you brew it) has potent anti-fungal properties according to a 2011 study [4]. On top of this, spearmint and rosemary extracts have been found to improve memory and act as antioxidants in the brain [5]. (This is why rosemary is in my upcoming Brain Juice blend - available September 8th!) ❤️

2 cups per day is the dosage found effective in the literature. I use the organic tea bags by Traditional Medicinals with great success - plus it doesn’t hurt that it tastes so good 😉

From a Chinese medicine perspective, PCOS is viewed as a consequence of improper fluid metabolism in the body causing obstructions. This slows all bodily functions including metabolism, making weight difficult to shift and disruption of hormone balances leading to signs of increased testosterone (hair growth, acne, irregular periods). THEREFORE improper diet and lack of physical activity can aggravate PCOS as they contribute to the slowing of fluid metabolism.

PCOS is the result of estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance is the result of an imbalanced ratio between estrogen, androgen and progesterone production. Progesterone production is way below estrogen and androgens.  Normally, the hypothalamus, a regulatory center in the brain, monitors the hormone output of the ovaries and synchronizes the normal menstrual cycle. When the monthly bleeding cycle ends, the hypothalamus secretes gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland in the brain to release follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). The insufficient ratio of FSH to LH is the key factor to PCOS.  The androgens secreted from the ovaries are converted into estrogen because certain body tissues, especially fat (adipose tissue) express aromatase. This is called aromatization. This continuous level of estrogen causes what is known as "abnormal feedback regulation" of gonadotropin secretion, such that LH secretion far outweighs FSH. FSH is responsible for the production of granulosa cells in the ovaries, which produce progesterone. LH is responsible for the production of theca cells, which produce androgens (like testosterone). The decline of progesterone means that ovulation (release of the egg) does not take place. When the follicle does not release the egg, the follicle becomes a cyst and the normal progesterone surge does not take place. The lack of increase in progesterone signals the hypothalamus to produce more LH and FSH, which stimulates the ovary to make more estrogen and androgens, which in turn stimulates more follicles toward ovulation. This produces even more cysts, and THIS is the genesis of PCOS.
The Good News is... ElectircPhood has a powerful ALL natural protocol to normalize progesterone levels and  totally reverse PCOS.

Polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, is the most common hormonal disorder affecting pre-menopausal women in Australia. It’s symptoms include irregular periods, insulin resistance and an excess of male hormones. In addition to healthy weight loss/maintaining a healthy weight and exercise, these nutrition strategies can help manage PCOS & it’s associated health problems:
1️⃣ Choose quality wholegrain foods that are high in fibre & have a low glycemic index in place of high refined sugar foods. This means you should aim to avoid refined grains like white bread, refined cereals, sweetened beverages and foods with added sugars, and replace these with wholegrain options like oats, wholegrain bread, barley & cracked wheat.
2️⃣ Limit foods containing saturated fat, such as butter, coconut oil, cream, fatty meats, full fat dairy products like cheese, palm oil & processed foods including deep fried foods, fatty snack foods, packaged cakes and biscuits, pastries. Replace these high saturated fat foods with foods that contain polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats such as olive oils, salmon, nut butters and avocado.
3️⃣ Prioritise vegetables in your day, aiming for different types and colours in each meal.
4️⃣ Opt for lean protein options like fish and plant based proteins like legumes, beans, lentils, tofu etc.

In late 2015, I fought and pleaded with my OBGYN at the time to test me for a number of different things because I felt as if something was “off” with my body.

I was tested for everything and all my results came back negative and she was beginning to dismiss my concerns, so I began researching my symptoms to see if I could figure out what was wrong with me.

I started reading up on polycystic ovarian syndrome and I began to see similarity in my symptoms. I called the OBGYN to see if I could come in and get tested for it. She told me that she didn’t think that was the problem and I would have to come in for an “initial” visit and then if she deemed it necessary, I would come back for the test.

In January 2016, I decided to reach out to my primary physician. I told her my concerns and she scheduled an appointment that following week for me to come in and take the test.

Once the test was over, I was told that I had “textbook PCOS”. I had all of the symptoms growing up: weight gain, irregular menstrual cycles, hirsutism, cystic acne, mood swings, depression, anxiety, etc. which caused so many body image issues growing up.

Everything was starting to make sense but my first thought was, why wasn’t this caught sooner?? If 1 in 10 women suffer from this disease then why is this not apart of regular testing!?? In 2018, I decided to take control of my life and address my diagnosis. I found support groups, like DFW PCOS Cysters, and even found a PCOS specialist near me through the PCOS Awareness Association.

There are a lot of women that go undiagnosed for years and don't find out they have it until they are trying to conceive. I would encourage women to get tested, especially if you have the symptoms. Don't let any doctor tell you that your concerns are not valid.

If you have already been diagnosed and haven't addressed it since your initial diagnosis, I would encourage you to find a PCOS specialist and get treatment. Join support groups. Have a few people in your corner who understand what you're going through. Don't battle this alone.
Wishing love and positivity on your PCOS journey.

Happy #PCOSAwarenessMonth!

Did you know that blood sugar and insulin imbalances + inflammation are at the root of PCOS? These imbalances leads to hormonal symptoms like weight gain, acne, irregular periods, hair loss, and infertility.
.
When women are given the pill for PCOS it only addresses the hormones, not the root cause. And while those symptoms are being masked, conditions like heart disease and diabetes continue to develop.
And you know what else contributes to heart disease and diabetes? The pill. 😦
.
There's now evidence suggesting an imbalance in gut flora may also be driving PCOS. Guess what messes with your microbiota (good gut bugs)? The pill. 😮 Now that isn't to say taking the pill causes PCOS. Nope. But it is to say that if you already have a condition that puts you at risk for heart disease, diabetes, is inflammatory and bacterial dysbiosis may be involved then maybe your best option ISN'T a pill that does that too.
.
How can you love those good gut bugs up and reduce inflammation?
✔Eat fiber rich food: fresh ground flax seeds, leafy greens, celery, avocados, and artichokes.
✔Eat whole turmeric, turmeric powder, and drink turmeric tea.
✔Include ginger in your diet in soups, stir fries and teas.
✔Include variety in your diet and avoid eating the same foods every day.
✔Make sure to eat healthy fats and proteins with your meals.
.
Treating PCOS requires a holistic approach. Giving the pill to treat symptoms is a disservice.👊🏻💥
.
If you've been given the pill for symptoms then please grab my Birth Control Quick Start Guide (☝🏼link in profile @drjolenebrighten) and learn how you can start supporting your body today!💖

I’ve been holding off from posting this for some time because it’s hard to talk about your personal struggles... but the more I thought about it, the more important I thought it was important to share my story.
Last year, after nearly 8 months of cystic acne, hair loss, memory loss, Amenorrhea, anxiety and migraines I was finally diagnosed with a ‘non curable’ condition called poly-cystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS.
For those of you that haven’t heard of PCOS it is the number one most common endocrine disorder in women affecting up to 10% of women, and it’s also the number cause of female infertility.
Along with that, women with PCOS can experience many other symptoms such as acne, excess hair on the face(hirsutism), scalp hair loss, weight gain, fatigue, loss of periods and increased anxiety and depression.

The reason I am posting this now is because over the last 6mths I have worked tirelessly to heal my PCOS naturally (much to my doctors horror! Lol) rather than take drugs and synthetic hormones that just mask the symptoms. Whilst doing this I have also been documenting my journey (and the many ups and downs) through a sneaky secret account @pcos_to_wellness.
I hope that by talking about PCOS more openly it will become less of a taboo topic, and can raise a bit more awareness about this condition that affects so many women globally.... and give hope that it can be healed naturally ✨💕🙏 #pcos #pcosawareness #pcoswarrior #womenshealth

Did you know that September is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month? PCOS is a condition that affects 1 in 10 women. It is one of the most commonly diagnosed condition in women, leading to insulin resistance, infertility, excess hair/hair in unwanted places, acne, weight gain, and poor sleep habits (just a short list of the problems PCOS can cause). Women with PCOS have an increased risk of developing diabetes, having a heart attack, developing depression and anxiety, and developing endometrial cancer.
Why do I care? Because I have PCOS. I was diagnosed with many of the “side effects” of PCOS at age 16 - after battling with 7 doctors and my self image. 5 doctors told me I was “fine, perfectly health.” 1 doctor told me I was lying, that I wasn’t eating healthy, that I was “just going to be fat” (not a smart thing to tell a 14 year old, by the way). An eating disorder later, and 1 doctor FINALLY listened to me - he adjusted the medications I was already on and started looking for other explanations for my health issues. Recently, more adjustments to my medications have had to be made, and I’ve had to go on a rather stringent diet in attempts to take better hold of my PCOS. PCOS is a LIFE LONG battle. I risk facing fertility issues and inability to conceive a child. I am at an increased risk of multiple other health conditions. I STILL battle with my self image on a DAILY basis (thanks to one particular doctor). Thank you for reading. 💕 #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosawarenessmonth

I recently did an interview @bbcstories about my journey with PCOS .. Maeve London: I was first diagnosed with PCOS about seven years ago. I had been suffering with really bad periods, they weren’t regular and I was in excruciating pain.
One day whilst writing my dissertation at University, I just collapsed. I was rushed to hospital and had to have an emergency operation to remove ruptured cysts. That was when I was finally diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). Going through all that was a very traumatic experience. No woman wants something wrong in that area but at the same time it was a bit of a relief because I knew for so long that something wasn’t right. I had been to the doctor many times and sent away being told, I was just someone who had bad periods. One of the symptoms of PCOS is bloating. A lot of the time when I’m bloated I think people think I’m swollen because I’ve eaten too much food and I actually wish that were the reality of it!
Being so bloated can make my day so difficult. It can be very painful and uncomfortable and I’ve had to come up with ways to deal with it. When it happens I just have to accept that this is my life and I have my remedies (in my book) to deal with it. Having PCOS doesn't mean that your life is over. There are a lot of things you can do to keep yourself healthy and minimize your risk of further complications. I find stress can make my bloating worse, bring on sugar cravings, cause lack of sleep & mess with my menstrual cycle. All of which you want to avoid with PCOS. This is why i love exercise, its my cure for easing my bloat, de- stressing and enjoying time focusing on myself .. I dont always hit the gym to lift weights, yoga classes, my fiit app class, evening walks, & swimming. It may be the last thing you want to do when you’re cramping & bloated, but it does help. My advice to girls who suffer with symptoms of PCOS Go & See Your GP .. #maevemadden #pcoswarrior #pcos #pcossupport #hormones #womenshealth #guthealth #bloated

This is what a government health organization says in regards to the cause of PCOS: “The cause of PCOS is unknown. But most experts think that several factors, including genetics, could play a role. Women with PCOS are more likely to have a mother or sister with PCOS."⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hmmmm, interesting logic. The thing is, families share a lot more than just genes. They share an environment, usually a similar active or inactive lifestyle, and certainly, and most importantly, they share a diet.⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
PCOS is a condition where a woman’s hormones are out of balance causing symptoms like irregular menstrual cycles, head hair loss, body hair growth (especially on the face), mild to severe acne, and depression. But to get to the heart of what’s happening in our bodies that leads to PCOS we need to start with insulin (in most cases).⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we eat refined, or simple sugars these break down much more quickly causing a dramatic spike in our insulin levels. This huge spike that occurs when we eat refined sugars causes more sugar to get pulled out of the blood a lot faster than normal. This in turn causes a drop in our blood sugar levels which then leads us to crave more sugary sweets to bring our blood sugar levels back up. And around and around we go.⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What does all of this have to do with PCOS you might be asking? Well here’s your answer…⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Insulin has a direct effect on two very important hormones in a woman’s body, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Both of these play an integral role in the production of estrogen and progesterone, making their jobs two of the most important when it comes to regulating the female reproductive system. I’m always chasing him, literally. Lol. But, I need advice from other mamas! Especially if you’ve been diagnosed with PCOS. How have you managed to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight? I take an hour out 4 times a week to hit the gym but I’m not seeing results. Could it be the PCOS? I don’t know. My doctor will probably want me to start Metformin, but I don’t want to. Maybe I should go back to the diet I used to lose weight before conceiving. But before I do that, Would any of you have suggestions for issues around insulin resistance, PCOS, weight loss. Please Comment below! Much appreciated.

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) or know someone who has it. #PCOS seems to be everywhere these days. In fact, it happens to be the leading cause of infertility in the United States and is estimated to affect 20% of women in their childbearing years!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Despite its prevalence though, there still remains an ongoing debate regarding its cause, and why it appears to have become an epidemic in so many western countries.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unfortunately, the medical industry has put its focus on treating the symptoms of this condition through medication, like the birth control pill and metformin, rather than addressing the root cause. This has led to the widespread misconception that PCOS is an unpreventable and irreversible disease. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’d like to dispel the myths that have led many women diagnosed with this condition to feel helpless in their abilities to take control of their own recovery and hopeless in their dreams of one day having children. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
PCOS is not only treatable, it is preventable, and even (dare I say it) reversible. Learn more about it on the blog here (or click the link in bio!): https://bit.ly/2qzQaZR 📷: @duvet_days #periodgirl

I’ve been playing around all day but on a more serious note.. ⚠️ long post ⚠️ on the last day of 2017, I wrote down some smart goals & I have only accomplished one. I felt like a failure bc I wasn’t able to accomplish those goals I set. 2018 - I allowed pcos to take over. Which allowed me to miss on so many opportunities and important moments. It’s already been 9months, most of the time I’m still in pain and/or can’t go a day without throwing up. It’s caused me to be down & unhappy a lot as well. I may not be fully healed yet. But I will no longer allow pcos to take over or continue to affect my moods. The last four months of 2018 are MINE ! PERIOD. I’m claiming ALL OF IT! the rest of 2018 is nothing but FUN , POSITIVE VIBES ONLY✨ thanks shanene @heyyshanice for being so understanding & for being here for me & your support . Thanks Bri @adoremebri___ for being here for me all the times i said I was scared to go back to the doctor. & thanks mumsie @yandysmith for picking up & calming me down before going into that 2nd surgery. I also want to thank y’all for always responding to my high ass text messages ( y’all might not have known , but the pain meds they gave me made me SO high & EXTRA emotional. 😭 wait, I got a story about this, if you know me you know I don’t like butter at all. I hate it. I asked my dad to fix me some cream of wheat, the only thing I could eat at that moment. when he gave me my bowl of cream of wheat it had a huge piece of butter in it. i was so high & emotional I started ballin in tears😭😂😭 I was really crying about that Butter being in my food.lol) anyway - words can’t explain how much I appreciate & love you guys. I’m turning a new positive leaf. I’m claiming the rest of MY 2018. making the transition back to me. I’m ready to be me again. ❤️✨ goodnight. #GodGotMe #pcos #pcoswarrior #PositiveVibesOnly #serenity #NoWorries ✨✨

5 or so years a go after trying to figure out the cause of my irregular cycle i was diagnosed with PCOS. From my own experiences, I’ve learnt that PCOS can be managed with a balanced diet and I want to share with you what has helped me. here is a little guide on what to eat.
WHAT TO EAT:
🥦B vitamin rich foods
Make sure you’re munching on your green leafy veggies, chicken, fish and mushrooms. B vitamins are essential for sugar and fat metabolism, thyroid function. 🥑Healthy Fats
Essential fatty acids from eggs, fish, hemp seeds and avocados are vital for hormone balance, weight management and fertility. Try and add them into each meal.
WHAT TO CUT DOWN ON:
🍪Lots of sugar
The issue with sugar is that it is effected your insulin levels. When you eat sugar it causes an insulin spike in the blood stream so the body can effectively make use of the energy from glucose. However, high levels of insulin increases the symptoms of PCOS such as increased hair growth, weight gain, cravings and and irregular menstrual cycles. 🥛Dairy
This is another one that might help if you cut out. It has been seen to effect testosterone levels which can effect PCOS and increase symptoms.
Other things to avoid are soy milk and trans-fats from processed meats and vegetable oils.
LIFESTYLE CHANGES:
Reducing your stress is key to managing your PCOS. Stress has a huge effect on your cortisol levels which effect your hormones. Try and manage your stress with meditation, walking in nature, exercise or whatever works for you!

Took me long enough, but I finally got the ball rolling on this fitness thing 🤪🤪 My whole life I have used my confidence and body positivity, with my PCOS as an excuse to not be healthy. Confidence and body positivity are great things, but I think sometimes they can also be crippling and allow you to remain stagnant in life. I never realized how out of control I was, using food to comfort me and making bad choices on top of bad choices. A healthy lifestyle when you have PCOS is so important. My hormones are back on track, my cycles are normal, and I feel great. It’s not easy, it’s actually really hard some days.. today I wanted to eat all the carbs in the world.. but instead I got up and spent an hour or so in the gym. The satisfaction I get from that, is way more than what my bloated belly would feel like after the chocolate I wanted lol. Lucky that I have a supportive partner and a supportive, ass kicking trainer (if you are in Auckland, @sixraul is the best!) I have at least another 100lbs to go, and more muscle to build.. but teaching myself to embrace the aches, put down the chocolate, and cherish the body I am building.. that’s the real body positivity!! 🏋🏼‍♀️❤️🙌🏻

Syndrom polycistickych ovarii...
Ide o to co danej zene sedi najviac.
4, Suplementy: Vitamin D3 a Inositol, rybi olej

Hey friends, you or someone you know suffering from PCOS? Let's chat to see how these products could possibly help you!! Absolutely AMAZING testimony!! ❤️ Diamond ambassador Alicia McKee shares her Plexus #PCOS testimony! "When I started on Plexus products nearly 28 months ago, I had NO IDEA it could help me with my PCOS symptoms! I was diagnosed with PCOS about 12 years ago when we were trying to get pregnant with Briley.
Did you know that PCOS is treated with Diabetic drugs? Glucophage or Metformin? Both of those made me sick, so I refused to take them. I just dealt with the symptoms as best I could. A little over 8 weeks on the products and a trip to my OB/GYN and SHE suggested we do blood work to see how Plexus was helping my PCOS. Notice the note at the bottom of my lab results. "No sign of PCOS" - y'all. This was the turning point for me! I realized that not only had Plexus helped me get the baby weight off, but it helped my Plantar Fasciitis go away, (Slim has anti-inflammatories in it) and it helped my body regulate itself to where I really have no PCOS symptoms anymore! THIS IS WHY there are so many Plexus babies!!! I sure wish I had Plexus when we were trying to get pregnant! Probably would have saved us a fortune in fertility bills!" Alright so PCOS. It’s a condition I was diagnosed with 5 years ago, and it’s not rare. Around 18% of women have to also deal with the condition, but I don’t know anyone personally who has it.... but I really REALLY want to find out if anyone I already know has it cause I really reaLLY REALLY want to talk to someone about it. There’s only so much you can find online and get from doctors that help you manage your health and weight with PCOS, but all the info is completely different wherever you look. So if you have PCOS or idk, even some experience with it through family or friends, DM me. We can chat and be angry together about our bodies punishing themselves but most of all talk about how we can try and make things better 🙃🙂 #pcos #pcossucks #pcosweightloss #pcosdiet
