Battling a lifelong weight problem is rough. I did at one point get very low in weight and felt like I made it but then I started my business and tried to balance something so huge with a new body and new habits and ended up gaining 50lbs. It hurt and a lot of people had a lot of opinions on how sad it was. But you know what's actually sad? Giving up. I will battle this for the rest of my life. And I hate the idea of people trying to lose weight, having setbacks and then feeling defeated. If you're losing weight and you're struggling please don't give up and please don't listen to anyone who whispers about your setbacks. Just push forward! That's what I'm doing and I'm feeling so small. Have I gotten this small before? Yup. And it's even better then second time around. BUT YOU CAN'T TELL.
No signs of unwanted fat gain whatsoever. This is because initially, increases in the scale after a long or hard cut are typically due to:
1) Full glycogen stores (and remember carbs are hydrophilic, which means they love water. So for every gram of carb you store you store at least double in water.)
2) Increased stomach volume. This is common sense as you are eating more.

My point is don't get yourself mentally locked into believing the number on the scale is the ONLY component of progress monitoring that matters. KEEP THE BIG PICTURE IN MIND.

Ultimately, the main goal in a reverse diet is to bring back and BUILD a healthy metabolism (our bodies were NOT meant to diet our whole lives’). Long term health should ALWAYS be your number one concern. Getting your calories back up will inevitably put you in a better place to maintain a healthy weight and a leaner body composition. You cannot spend your life eating sub 1000 calories and doing cardio for hours trying to "keep" your bodyweight at some arbitrary number. It will eventually catch up to you and the physiological impact will be horrifying.

Getting calories back up after a long diet is a necessity to your mental and physical health and is crucial in maintaining a healthy and lean body composition.

Since there's so little representation of skin issues, and I would have given ANYTHING to see famous people with skin like mine when I was younger, I decided to put together some images of celebrities looking like human beings, instead of the flawless robots we put on pedestals.

These celebrities might be your favorite people on earth, or maybe they're your least favorite people (I don't even like some of them), but the point of this post is to show some skin representation! Something I desperately wish I had when I was younger.
Because who knows? Maybe pics like this would have stopped me from crying myself to sleep so many nights as a teen and even more recently as an adult!

To anyone with acne, you're in incredible company. You are in the company of millions, maybe even BILLIONS of people on this planet who's largest organ (your skin) doesn't fit society's clear skin beauty ideals.
Because you know what? Bodies are super duper weird!!!! And the image being sold to you as "perfection" doesn't actually exist.
Acne is just another battleground on the human body where corporations profit off the insecurities they themselves helped create in you!

After yesterday's dramas on the Tour de Corse, it was really nice to have the opportunity to get back at it today - for Paul and myself, really. Thanks to some stellar teamwork from the mechanics at Citroën Racing, our C3 WRC was fit for action again this morning so we were able to get straight back into it - and on the longest stage of the rally too, at 55km.

We had a pretty good run through the stage and were second fastest, and as you may have been watching on WRC AllLive, I said at the end of it that every single pacenote in that 55 kilometres was perfect - as they had all been for the past 11 years or so, before yesterday.

So if Paul doesn't make another mistake for 11 more years from now, that'll be fine; I'll have my slippers and pipe by that point, I'm sure, and be enjoying retirement!

I was in a tight battle for second place when we had the accident yesterday, but even then, it would be a struggle to keep Ott Tanak back this morning because his pace was very strong. The Toyotas really seem to have picked up their speed on dry asphalt here. But of course, a podium was there for the taking.

That's it, though. We don't want to dwell on what happened; in fact, we've already moved on this morning. Corsican roads tend to get you back into a working rhythm pretty quickly... We tried our best to catch Jan Kopecky today; he was our real target. We were well over two minutes behind him when we started this morning and in the end we were 5.7 seconds away, which was frustrating, of course. Then on the PowerStage, Sebastien Loeb beat us by about a second and Seb Ogier was a few thousandths of a second ahead of it. Close stuff.

We have to conclude from this weekend that we at Citroen Racing don't enjoy the domination on tarmac that we had in 2017. For sure, the others have taken a step forward and we've stood still, really. So we need to look at ourselves closely and progress again. Things are always evolving in the World Rally Championship so you can never afford to ease off on development.
Now we look forward to Argentina!

Every time a school shooting happens I sit down with my daughter and remind her of the importance of checking in with me regularly and letting me know she’s ok. She’s been on lockdown before but never for a school shooting threat. This shouldn’t be a normal way of life. These things happen because a kid is crying for attention. They need our help. They’ve been bullied or belittled to the point that they can’t take it anymore and they think it’s the only way. It’s not only important that gun laws are changed, but that parents and administrators step up. Show up for these kids. Listen to them with no judgement. And offer them advice and solutions other than just talking it out. Get involved and stay involved with your kids. Get involved and stay involved with your kids friends. You may be the only person they have to talk to. I’m fortunate enough to have a stable relationship with my daughter that she feels comfortable to talk to me about everything. And when she was bullied in middle school. I stepped up and showed up. I made sure she was safe and offered an environment to diffuse the situation. Both of my kids and their friends can come to me and talk to me about anything. And they have “extended” family that they can do the same. I have guided, listened to and mentored kids and gave them a safe space to be and express themselves as they saw fit. We’ve talked thru depression, sex, and suicide among other things. We have to get more comfortable having these conversations because they are the ones that will help shape and save their lives...

These medications have helped me get to where I am today in my pregnancy and I’m so thankful for all the painful PIO injections and the bad headaches from the estrogen patches I had to endure in this IVF journey to lead me to a healthy pregnancy so far. Although, I am kind of sad stopping all medications because I don’t want to get anxiety about whether or not my baby is going to continue being healthy without the medicine. I was suppose to stop at 12 weeks taking my medications but the good lord must have saw fit that my body seemed to be at the point where it was healthy enough to get off of the medication. In doing so, I hope that my god will watch over me and this precious little one growing inside of me. To continue staying healthy without medications, baby having a strong heartbeat at each visit, and that my placenta will do its job in making sure my baby gets all of the nutrients to withstand a healthy pregnancy. If everyone could just keep us in your prayers it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless You All!

I had to get my mind of all the sadness I feel toward the UCC victims and everyone effected by it by doing what I love while also having a little time to myself to reflect on my past and plan for what's to come. I hiked up as far up as I could to get away from all the noise of traffic, the mill, and shots from the rod and gun club. The last thing I wanted to do was be reminded how so many are so gun obsessed in this town and how earths fragile environment is being quickly destroyed by humans. After hurdling up corroding hill sides, yanking my self up with dried up shrubs, passing through an abandon bum camp, and walking up several dear trails I finally reached the top where I took this picture. There I sat for hours reading school books, taking notes conveying and comparing much of the books content to my own life. At one point I took a break and had a quick jam sesh on my dads harmonica playing slow blues melodies that fit the mood I was in. After peacefully lying in the tall grass reading, writing, and staring into the distant letting my mind wander, I decided it was time to pack up my books and notes and head out. While briskly walking down I decided to take it up a notch and trail run instead bombing down the hill dodging roots seedlings and various shrubs. When I got to the bottom I felt rejuvenated like I had accomplished a lot today. They took bloods today and it came back with my blood sugars at 1.0 (which I think is really low), so I was sat in the communal lounge with everyone else and then 3 of the staff members walk into the lounge, from behind me and pick in holds and I bloody panicked!! I started trying to force out of their holds but they where holding onto both my hands really tight! They took me straight to The Extra Care Area. They where still holding onto me and 4 of the nurses and the doctor walks in and goes "you have to drink #Fresubin & #Vimto (god knows why Vimto, but I hate Vimto!)... Anyways obviously I said no! So then they put me into a full Restraint to fit a #NGTube in (I was begging and crying at this point for them not to!) and so they fit it in and gave me a feed and Vimto. They kept me in extra care for most the day to make sure I don't pull the NG tube out cos my nose is starting to resist NG fittings................. Anyways the second time I got restrained one of the nurses saw a #bruise on my back. So they asked to do a body map and I refused but they took my jumper off on the restraint and then saw all the bruises all over my body! Now their really concerned and I'm basically fucked cos I'm gonna have to tell them where all the bruises came from! But I think my key nurse has already figured it out, so I'm screwed!

One thing we noticed is that we both struggle on that lock out. Therefore instead of doing Dumbbell Bench Press for more volume, we decide to do these Floor Presses to work on that weak point. One thing I highly suggest to anyone who is trying to get stronger on the big three lifts is to get better at identifying your weak points. Even though the weight moved for the both of us, as we progress that weak point will still exist if we don’t focus of improving that specific part. If you bench 1-2 times a week, this can be something you can throw after your working sets on any given day. If you bench 3 or more times a week, you can dedicate this as your first movement on a day of you choice where you have the most energy to lift the most amount of weight. Doing the same thing over and over again is crazy to me to correct a problem. But focusing on where you struggle at and trying to work on it, you’ll eventually make better progress during your progression!!! 💪🏽😎👌🏽P.S. I hope these videos are helpful. I put my life on the line for you guys today by ditching my spotter. But it’s worth it!!! IG to me isn’t about showing off my body to you guys. It’s more as an outlet to help those who are unable to train with me in person so I hope these tips and tricks help!!! 😇👌🏽

Let's take you on walk of my past 6 months. A girl who FOUGHT EVERY DAY TO STAY OUT OF THE EMERGENCY.
I couldn't let the world see me hurt.
I pushed hard and I believe if it wasn't for the investment I did in my heart, my healthy lifestyle and loving people around me I would have never made it.
Listening to personal development and keeping my internal heart healthy. It kept on point to keep going.

The point I want to make is about people's perception of you and reactions based on what THEY believe is truth.

1. Dressed up for Halloween as Sandy from Grease. Happy... Yes, I was fit, I was eating well, but I was fighting a huge bleeding disorder daily.
2. Post surgery. If people knew how sick I was I don't believe they would have felt confidence in my ability. They chose to see what they want to see.
3. The strong girl I am today. First run post surgery after being told I shouldn't run. A girl who had never been THIS calm and good with herself as she is right now. So much so it scares many.

You are being judged every day of your life regardless. You have to be good with you. When you get ready for people to come forward to break you. I got flack every step of the way and I had to chose not to fall into poor situations. .

It's not about you.
It's about them.
Their insecurities.
Fear of being left behind.
Fear you out grew them.
Them not seeing the person they are used to.
Don't hate on them. They just need to get there too. We are all on different chapters in our lives.
Realize that. They need to realize that too.
Master peace.
Choose to live on purpose
Live a life of purpose.
Make a #LifeByDesign
One you can be proud you lived. .

This #tbt post of myself still stands true even today... After 8 years of changing my life around and adapting to a healthy lifestyle, I can honestly say that my body is my masterpiece. My work of art. It's gone through so many changes since I first started my journey. Used to be 70pounds overweight ... This #tbt post of myself still stands true even today... After 8 years of changing my life around and adapting to a healthy lifestyle, I can honestly say that my body is my masterpiece. My work of art. It's gone through so many changes since I first started my journey.
Used to be 70pounds overweight and completely unfit. Now people think I'm just a fitness freak and all I do is workout 24 hours a day which is merely not the case.
I always tell everyone, an hour a day of proper training is all that is necessary. I am active, yes.
Throughout these 8 years I have gained and leaned down a few times. Give or take 10-15 pounds.
I'm just like everyone else. I definitely went through hell in the beginnings specially. Life is not perfect and things get in the way of our motivation and consistency. Now I'm just blessed to have kept at it. Never gave up. And my body has reached a point where it's so much easier to maintain.
For those of you who have always wished to be fit and healthy, the only advice I can give you is to be patient, work hard and NEVER give up. It might take days, weeks, months or years but once you get there... Boy does it feel AMAZING!
I love and admire all of you who show me your determination. Thank you all for your constant support. Life is better when you're Fit From The Ground Up @ffgugym

The 20th edition of the Yukon River Quest is set to start today and ultra distance SUP racer @bartdezwart is sure not going to miss out. 125 'teams' of paddlers (SUP, canoe & kayak) from over 20 countries will line up for this 715 km (444 miles) race through the remote wilderness of Canada from Whitehorse to Dawson.

We asked Bart what it takes to compete in a race like this; "You need to be a reasonably fit paddler but mentally very strong. A very strong paddler which is mentally not at strong will have a hard time finishing this race. At some point, every one of the racers will have a low point in the race which can take a few hours to get over - but then again it is a 55 -80 hrs race so you have plenty of time." There is a $55.000 cash purse divided amongst the many categories that this race offers. The catch is, you are required complete the race within 55 hrs to make the prize money, so even if you win your class (stand up paddle class for example) but don’t make it within the 55 hrs cut off, then you take home any prize money. Harsh. "At my last two races here, I finished in 52 and 54 hrs - so it was really close. More importantly than the prize money, for me & most of the racers, is the scenery, the remoteness and the experience of an expedition race like this." Bart is famous for his SUP expeditions in the most remote and beautiful places in the world, and the Yukon is just that; "Imagine paddling for 55 hrs and coming through only one village, seeing only a few cabins and maybe once in a while another racer, seeing bears, wild moose and all from an amazing flowing river with water so pure you can drink it straight out of the river. The sun only sets for a couple of hours a night. It doesn't even really get dark, only a few hours of twilight and a new long day begins." In the photo, the tools I used — thumb-sized Phillips head screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, and card. First Dawn had me rethread the top thread to minimize friction on the Glide thread. Then she had me check the bobbin hook, to make sure it was hitting at the right place. (It was.) After that she had me move the needle to its lowest point and slide the card between the hopping foot and the needle plate (is that what it’s called?). The card would not even fit underneath the foot. So she walked me through the process of adjusting the hopping foot height. At that point I told her how, a while back, I had removed the needle plate and lost two of the washers that fit beneath it. (Does this make sense? Other machines may be made differently, but maybe you can get the idea, anyway.) When I replaced the washers with some that we had here at the house, they were not exactly the same height. Could that be creating problems? Of course! She had a McGyvered fix for that, borrowing washers from a place where that 1/16” diffference was not crucial. Everything was almost great, but not entirely. So she worked with me while I made some tension adjustments. If this seems like a lot of steps and time, it was! But I learned a lot, and at the end I was able to sew and sew and sew and have no skipped stitches, no shredded thread. .

On a whim I agreed to buy a dining room table on Craigslist after work today. With my boyfriend in Singapore & other friends too busy to help out I wasn’t sure how I’d get the big table into my 3rd floor apartment. I offered to pay the guy I bought it from an extra $20 if he’d help me bring it up. With his help we carried it up the (very, very narrow) staircase to the 3rd floor & into the apt. At that point, the table wouldn’t fit through the doorway. The guy gave me advice on how to take the door off the hinges & left. I went to the hardware store & bought some materials. After a quick cry when the doors didn’t come off the hinges (lol) I figured out a way to separate the table in 2 so I could get it through. Once inside the kitchen I put it back together! The moral of this story is a) This table was crazy heavy, I’m sooo happy I lift in the gym so I could make it through this b) I’m so proud of myself for making it through all of this AND figuring out how to get the table past the doorways by myself! To all my fellow ladies out there, I hope this is a reminder that you do not need a man, you are strong & you are smart! And also it’s ok to cry for a minute when overwhelmed, then get back on your feet and figure it out (then reward yourself with yummy cider 😋) •

A year ago, I signed a lease for @obtainstrength for a dark, dirty, 2500 square foot warehouse. I had to knock out an office to make enough room. I was scared, unsure if I was doing the right thing, and knew it was a huge financial commitment. I also was confident and knew my vision would play out and knew every single time in my life I decided to take a risk, it always played out for the better.

We opened the gym in February and month by month the gym grew, people kept coming, and I kept adding more equipment. Eventually it got to the point where I couldn’t fit any more equipment into that gym. There was still stuff I wanted to add to make it the best gym I could, but there was simply no room. I was at the highest point of potential for my current space. I had to ask myself if I wanted to make a good gym or great gym.

Today, I signed a lease for a new place to triple the floor space and take Obtain to the next level. Air conditioning, high ceilings, multiple bathrooms, mirrors already on the walls. This is a perfect spot. It’s very cheesy, but it’s crazy what happens when you actually take action instead of sitting around on your ass. Risky now, but I know if I didn’t sign this today I’d be kicking myself for not doing so in a few months. I’ll be coming back to YouTube with my new series “All In”. Time to get to work. I can’t even explain how I feel after seeing these progress photos. I took the picture on the right today trying to decide if I’d bring this swimsuit on a trip coming up. I’d eaten a ridiculous amount of popcorn earlier in the day & wasn’t feeling overly slim (but thought it could be accurate for how I’d look in the suit wearing it after a couple of drinks 😂). & THEN I saw the difference that a couple years make in the same suit in the same lighting. I’m in shock! The most noticeable difference for me is the smile I have today! In both pictures I felt a bit bloated & off, but today my mental health is at a point where I know my worth is not defined by my looks or how fit I am. Even feeling like I should’ve eaten lighter today, I was smiling because I feel so grateful to be where I am! I think some of the difference here is the simple act of letting go. The decrease in stress from always worrying what I look like or when I’ll get to the gym has had a wonderful effect of making me more joyful - & the very unexpected effect of dropping some pounds since bodies can hold onto water when stressed!
Yes, some of this is from hard work & watching what I eat. But a lot of it is from being grateful for who I am, what I have, & the God I serve. Wherever you are in your journey, know that THAT is the biggest area you can progress in 😘💕 •

After speaking to a friend today (@nick_sorrenti) i was inspired to put myself out there for you guys. Now for those who don’t know, March 12th i severely injured my shoulder. Bad dislocation in the gym and it’s left me out of training since. I tried hard to stay mentally strong and even in the gym but eventually it got to me. Eventually i said what’s the point? I use to rep 150’s now i can hardly touch 50lbs alone. So i stopped training (with intentions to heal) and i stopped dieting or even caring about what was going on.
Man how easy it is to feel sorry for yourself and get yourself in a low point. And how easy it is for myself to identify my worth based on my physical character.
I AM NOT MY BODY.
But it’s so real to feel ashamed of yourself when you’re not in peak form. When you’re use to being known as the “fit dude” you tend to feel you need to live up to that.
I AM NOT MY BODY.
My point of this post is to hold myself accountable. Though i know i need to be smart about this recovery, i could be doing better than i am. I could be making better decisions.
I’m sick of making myself feel irrelevant and a lack of worth because im not able to physically live up to my potential at the moment. But there is a reason this is happening to me. Perhaps God wants me to focus more on my mentality. Focus more on my heart. Focus more on seeking an identity through him.
Whatever it is, i need to find more self love and pride in myself. 8 pack and muscles or muffin top and kankles. I need to love where I’m at through all phases.
Tomorrow starts me making better decisions for my health again. Even if i can’t rep the 150’s anymore, i can still live a healthy lifestyle and start my journey back up. A journey i plan to stay transparent about and share with you all. I can’t control what happened, but i can control how i respond.

It got exhausting. Not because of how difficult school was. It was the pressure of comparison, competition and the constant need to maintain a good impression to my peers (and teachers) so that I wouldn’t get judged or feel left out. Studied hard for the O levels, didn’t do well enough to get into my desired course and I remember being so crushed, disheartened and absolutely worried about my “future”. Didn’t do too well in poly to get into a university either. Hope diminished. Enlisted into NS.

There was a point during the following two years in NS when I had so much time that self-reflections were inevitable. I came into a deep realisation that I had been doing it for the wrong reasons. I was doing it to keep up with the competition and my peers. To fit in. To fit into that ambitious ‘template’ perception of success in school. Definitely a problem.

I realised I was trying so hard to trod on someone else’s path that was made for no one but themselves. Everyone has their own moment to shine - just that some have it just a little bit later than others.

It took me almost five years after secondary school until I was enlightened with this realisation. Since then, I worked my butt off ever since, slaved my face off in the study room through a foundation course, achieved the Top Scholar award, came in Top 15% of my University major and today, I walked on the dais in front of my loved ones to get my bachelors degree conferred by the Vice-Chancellor. To top it all off, I was accepted into my dream university to pursue my Masters.

We still have a long way to go - which only means that we have so much to achieve. Possibilities are endless. Trust your inner voice. Don’t get intimidated by others and your own failures. I cannot begin to tell you how many times friends, colleagues, professionals, and even there most random of people have tried to give me "advice" and tell me how I needed to change. your photos are to dark, to moody, to bright, to much fade, not enough fade, cropped wrong, not enough color, too much color, and so on and so on... what's sad is that even though i 100% believe in hearing out others opinions and learning from them, is that slowly without noticing as you go to edit their voices appear in your head. and then comes a point where you wonder... is this even my art? is this my perspective, is this how I naturally express my inner being, or is this what others will like more, lol literally. I know there's definitely a balance but I just want to remind everyone, that your art is your art! that is the whole beauty of art, to be able to express yourself in a way like no one else quite can. don't try to fit a box because you can't, you won't fit, and people please stop trying to put me into one. When I first stepped out of macro counting into intuitive eating (IE), letting go of that control was honestly scary for me. I was scared I would lose all the progress I had made in my fitness journey. And I wasn’t sure if I could still use the IE approach after gaining 38 lbs during pregnancy .

But it’s been nearly 2 years now since I’ve counted macros & while I think it’s truly the best tool or approach you can follow to get from point A to point B, I just didn’t want to live the rest of my life worrying about tracking or whether something would “fit my macros” .

I don’t mean to talk down on it whatsoever because I know it’s helped a lot of people, (including myself in the past) & in fact I even accredit it to helping me feeling comfortable with IE now. Heck, I even use the method & ONLY that method to help my clients get to their fitness goals! But I was finally at a point in my life that I was past diet plans, had been macro counting on & off for 3 years, & was ready to transition into full time IE .

I couldn’t have just gone from cutting or a caloric deficit into IE successfully, without knowing what my body was supposed to feel like at maintenance. So after I got to where I wanted to be long-term or what was sustainable for me & was a good balance for my life, I then reverse dieted out of that deficit. I added 2-5% to my carbs & fat allowance until reaching my calculated maintenance. I then began IE & shortly after that got pregnant .

That sense of needing to be “in control” is now gone — but it took years for me to get to this mentality. I just wanted to share why I teach/coach my clients using a flexible dieting approach, yet no longer use it myself. For me it was a short-term method that I used to: get out of being restrictive, repair my relationship with food after being in bondage to that for so long, & achieve my long-term goals of what now is a very balanced lifestyle. Today I am no longer enslaved to certain foods, guilt over enjoying the “bad foods”, OR numbers.

I mean, food got really screwed when we started creating our own. Foods that don’t go bad; the processed stuff. Not the stuff we were meant to eat; stuff that grew out of the ground or stuff that fed off it.

And sure, there’s some nuance. I had a client once allergic to fruit.

I’ve had plenty clients, and know several people who don’t want to eat meat. That’s cool.

But if you’re so confused about food to the point you resort to what’s quickest and easiest, you may be going a little more processed.

When in doubt, eat stuff you have to cook.

Without a microwave!

Eat stuff that can actually rot and go bad.

Just eat it before it does!

And fit the stuff you want in without going overboard.

It was never meant to be complicated and it was never meant to be as easy at it is. Good nutrition is gonna take some effort and you’ll be happy you put in the work.

It’s a discount store, with harsh lighting, little effort at display, & too much emphasis (albeit probably needed) on loss prevention. However, the demographic of people shopping there. Now, it’s no Starship Enterprise, but I’m sure Gene Roddenberry, & other mid 20th Century creators, thinkers, & progressives would be so curious to see it! I talked with a father & son from UAE. My cashier was from the Yucatán. The other cashier was wearing a hijab. A young man assisting the fitting room attendant was clearly from the area Western México, around Jalisco. I can just tell now. He was beautiful. The main fitting room attendant was some White woman from this neighborhood. That’s another thing I can always tell. I liked her. I told her that I was pretty sure this thing fit, but it was kind of hard to tell with the anti-theft device stuck right into the middle of the neck! She saw my point. There were people from nearly every continent on earth in there! I stood in line behind a SE Asian mother & daughter, & in front of a Pacific Island father & son. This is the Portland so many don’t really get to, or take the time to see, international Portland. This shirt reminds me of something a Turkish man might wear, or maybe a young Iranian. Or, perhaps someone from México or Colombia, somewhere where there are beautiful mountains! I feel this cross cultural opportunity becoming available to so many is such a wonderful thing! I know the journey here hasn’t been easy. So much has fallen aside, & atrocities have been committed for decades, if not centuries, to get to just this. I hope we find our way. We as people, have so much to give to, & exchange with one another. I hope we make it!

When we say we want BALANCE, want to follow the good 'ol "80/20 rule", want to enjoy eating our faves without guilt....what does all of the really mean? 💁‍♀️ All of us felt we used it WAY too freely. "I want to be fit and I don't care of 6-pack abs, so ➡️➡️➡️➡️ I want to enjoy wine 🍷 when I want; I want my fave creamy pasta dish; I love my fries 🍟 & ice cream!" Unfortunately, those wanting this "balance" are the ones struggling to hit their goals. We tend to indulge in foods that aren't serving us, foods that bring back addictions and create bad habits! In my mind, the 80/20 is just not going to work if you've got BIG GOALS. Sometimes we need to get strict to kill the habits! I sure do!!!!!! There are days & seasons when I get relaxed with my food (like today's casserole not quite being to food plan), BUT that tends to mean just eating more than I should (HELLO avocado 😘🥑 !), not food full of crap!
I crave foods with nutritional value and I WHOLEHEARTEDLY believe that EVERYONE can get to that point. When I do choose fries or nachos.....I have them pretty much guilt-free, because that's about 1% of my month.

Today is #PurpleDay aka #internationalepilepsyawarenessday . I've had epilepsy for over 5 years. I try to be transparent about my fight, but some people still don't think its that serious of an illness. So this year I decided to share a few of my many hospitalization pictures to get my point across (the ones I look best in 😂).
The sad thing is that I'm one of the more "lucky" patients in the fact that I'm still pretty "normal". I go to college, I drive, I have friends, I date, etc. Many people aren't like me. Many people are severely mentally delayed due to the severity of their epilepsy and many aren't able to complete basic tasks or be alone due to the fact that they have seizures so often.
While I'm extremely grateful that I'm more of a "high functioning" case, I still have struggles. I have accommodations in college due to how seizures have affected my memory. I have to turn "going out" dates into "just come hang out at my house" dates because I felt "off" and didn't want to risk having a seizure in public. I can't drive at night. There's so much more that I can't fit into one post.
Despite epilepsy being one of the most common neurological disorders, there's barely any awareness for it. Today I'm asking four things of my followers and friends to help spread awareness. One is if you have any questions about epilepsy or are curious to learn more, just ask me or Google it! Two is wear something purple today. - the waist on my dress pants are too big, but the butt and thighs (obvi) still fit 👌🏻
- still ONE HUNDRED PERCENT self conscious of every picture taken, every outfit chosen, every look in the mirror. I still compare and I am WAY too hard on myself. Even today, I had to text my BFBs today to see if it was ok to post these pictures because I don’t like how I look. @j_sarge and @mollybeth06 reminded me it’s all about the “ #SELFLOVE bitch!”

Anywho, I was 19 at that point and had wasted 2 whole years of college. I also lost my financial aid and owed thousands of dollars. My mom @kimmypie said to me, “I’m so disappointed in you. Everyone else’s kids are doing well - getting A’s and B’s. You’re getting straight F’s! Wtf did I do wrong as a parent?!” She then went on to say, “You’re going to take your ass to community college and earn your way to a university or move out and get a job. Maybe college isn’t for you.”

My Dad was at a cabin in Usk, WA with his brother and some friends when they got word. My mom and Brother (age 7 at the time) watched the news closely and were warned ... We were living in Spokane, WA at the time. I had just turned 6 months old. My Dad was at a cabin in Usk, WA with his brother and some friends when they got word. My mom and Brother (age 7 at the time) watched the news closely and were warned to stay indoors since the ash could be toxic. It took my Dad several hours to get home (what normally would’ve been an hour and half drive) because the ash completely covered the sun to the point you couldn’t see across the street.

They had some family friends that lived along the Toutle River, very near the eruption-who barely escaped. They grabbed their daughter and fled losing their entire home & belongings to the mud flow. They were lucky to get out-57 people lost their lives that day. I spoke to my mom on the phone this morning about that day and she got choked up remembering the days events and recalled volcanologist, David Johnston’s (who manned the station 6 miles away) final words “Vancouver, Vancouver! This is it!”

Most people you talk to in the Pacific Northwest can tell you their recollection of the days events. Such an impactful day.

My folks collected a small amount of ash from our yard and kept it all these years. My mom recently shared that she had some since she knew I’d started working with different elements. I learned something today I had never known-My Dad designed a rubber blade that could retro-fit snowplows so the ash could be removed from the streets without tearing up the road since it was strong, yet flexible. He was even honored by Good Year for it. Way to go, Dad!

I have a small amount of rings containing the ash in the shop- in case you’d like a little bit of wearable history. Also.. thinking of all those folks in Hawaii that are going through similar events right now. ❤️

The good news is that once you have a tan and are up on stage after carbing up you will look significantly bigger then you really are (well I suppose it could be bad if your trying to downsize to compete in women’s bikini). Trying to come in “full” is one of the biggest mistakes in bodybuilding and is why so many competitors talk about spilling over or simply show up on stage too soft to be competitive. Simply put; all things being equal a shredded smaller version of yourself is going to beat a larger but softer version or yourself every single time. So don’t use coming in “full” as an excuse for slacking on the diet or cardio. In the pic I’m under 180 lbs at about 6% bodyfat but would beat out my current 200+ lbs 9% fat physique despite the fact that I’m carrying about 15 lbs of extra muscle. One last point; you do not need to look like a pro to compete. They are pros for a reason. I finished the rest of my workout without putting my music back and with the occasional thought of “I should get some wireless Bluetooth bad boys”. I work out without music pretty often. Now here’s why this random story meant a lot to ME.. there was a time just maybe a short year ago where if I forgot my headphones it was a NO can do, either went home to get them or bought a new pair at a nearby store. My workouts were filled with loud music (don’t get me wrong, still sometimes are) but because it kept my thoughts away. I literally could not get a good workout in without music. Today, that’s changed a lot. I go to the gym, get out for a run, throw some gloves on and hit a bag because I LOVE IT MAN. I live for the challenge, the process, the improvement. It’s not a temporary escape from my life, I don’t need to drown out my thoughts. I don’t do it for social media or to be better than anyone. It’s for me, it’s my life, it’s my happy. Point is.. it really made me realize how at peace I am with myself in and out, as well as happy with my life. That’s the ultimate feeling of enlightenment. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I've always been a big girl. And I've spent most of my life hating myself for it. I have spent countless hours looking at myself in the mirror, fantasizing about literally taking a knife and chopping off the fat under my arms, the extra rolls around my tummy or my massive thighs and hips that never seem to fit into pants. I've cried in dressing rooms. I've worn extra clothes when it's hot simply to cover my arms and legs and anything I think looks 'fat'.
A few years ago, I decided I was done hating myself. I only get one body, and I shouldn't spend all my time tearing it down. I shouldn't be so preoccupied with how I don't look like girls in magazines, and just enjoy myself. And for the most part, I've achieved the whole 'no fucks given, I'm fat and I love myself' state of mind.
But I still have days when I hate myself. I still have days when words hurt. Today was one of those days. Today I was told by someone I consider a friend that an attractive man couldn't possibly be attracted to me because of my weight. And it really hurt. I've been crying on and off since it was said to me. And it made me hate myself.
But here I am. I'm fat, and I'm going to let that get in my way. I don't care anymore. There's so much more to me than my body, and even if other people can't see it, I can. So here I am in all my glory, and if you don't like it, well. Kindly fuck off.

I have suffered from eating disorders in which I was skinny an old friend of mine thankfully helped me get through it and a while after that loosing a very close family member, dropping grades, bad relationships in general, negative attitude towards life I gained nearly 80 lbs within a year or two. Through that point of gaining so much has changed I learned to love myself and I became comfortable being bigger and still don't see myself as to big. But I must remember life is a journey not a destination. each day presents new lessons and beautiful experiences. I have loved. Been heart broken. Thrived, and burned out. And all the while I must remember I’m alive! And give thanks for each breath I take because like the car full of high school seniors driving down the road last week, we never know which breath could be our last. .

I have taken this spring break to slow down and truly rest. It’s hard when I thrive in a fast paced quick moving life style that three weeks of detoxing, yoga, reading, watching movies, taking walks, and hiking is exactly what I need for my sanity. I am learning to love myself and be patient with the entirety of life.

I did up my water intake too. About 48 oz a day and several cups of tea. .

I worked out 5 of 7 days. Drank my water. Stayed within my weight watchers points. Yet, only .6 lb loss at my weigh in today. 😕 I felt a bit defeated. .

The topic at the meeting was how to keep going if you mess up and fall off plan. And even though I didn’t fall off plan, I felt like I did! Then the leader said something that clicked and made me laugh! “If you are on a road trip to Florida and you get off I 65 in Kentucky and wind up on I 64, you don’t just keep going to Missouri! You turn around and get back on track!” And So I quit beating myself up! After all, I DID lose! And I’m feeling stronger. My bum knee is much better and stronger. Emotionally I’m feeling happier. So all in all a good week! .

After the meeting I went to Plant Fitness, did the circuit, and here I am post workout enjoying the massage chair! I also did the hydro massage and the red light therapy too! .

Then I went grocery shopping where marshmallow Peeps greeted me almost at the door! They reminded me of my mother (she loved them) and I really wanted some! I theorized that Peeps are chickens and chicken breasts are zero points, and also that eggs are zero points so maybe a dozen Cadbury eggs too? But no, I didn’t buy them! I stayed on I 65!

I heard the best analogy for this today while listening to a recent Muscle For Life podcast.

The guest explained in terms of a chore like organizing your house. It eventually gets to a point of chaos where you need to deal with it.
So you plug away and put in a weekend’s worth of effort to get through everything. The house is cleaned and organized and you feel accomplished. Goal complete.

BUT... A week later and you’re right back where you started.
Why?

There was no system or routine set into place to avoid the fallback. Had you decided to chip away at the task every day, the mess wouldn’t be a problem.

This is true with weight loss and obtaining those desirable body transformations or fitness goals. And this is where those 30 day or 60 day programs can trip you up.

We need to change the way we look at how we run our lives. Are we going to the gym or working out because we want to be fit or are we going because being fit is a part of who we are?
You’ll notice it amongst your successful peers. They know they’ve changed. They’ve figured out that they are someone who thrives on an active lifestyle. They’ve found ways to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives and would feel lost without it. It’s become a part of who they are.

My journey has been a long one with many ups and downs. And I’ve been in that, “what now?” burnout zone.

The one thing that saved me all of these years was having my system. Its almost methodical at this point. I’m sure to go to the gym on my lunch hour most days. I record and track my progress with a variety of metrics. My system does vary from time to time, but it’s always there.
If I’m hungry to take it to the next level I adjust my system accordingly. If I’m in maintenance mode my system doesn’t need as many tiers. It’s always about adapting to the situation.

Past two weeks were emotionally draining.
The moment I thought I fought my old demons and I am free from self destruction, this week brought up everything back. I found it difficult to get myself together as usual. Instead I let myself sink in into this destructive way of thinking that I was not enough. I wasn’t a good manager, business partner, wife, woman, friend. In my head I was not pretty enough, not fit enough, not smart enough. This list was so long that by the end of this week even my ultimate surviving algorithm didn’t work. Today I gave in to this ugly thoughts that I am not pretty, sexy, smart, good, not enough - making my partner worry about my mental state and trying to convince me in opposite.


I know not everyone is so fortunate to have someone by their side at moments like this. Knowing that I was hitting the the lowest point I wanted to help others who feel the same way. Our blog post on beyneu.com really reflects how I feel and what kind of help I should give myself to get to the healthy and workable state. In my personal list it would be praying instead of meditation. Decorating our flat also helped a lot and made this place feel like our home more than ever.


When you lose yourself to negativity, doubts about your worth, your beauty or intelligence try to ask yourself the only question - Is this thought useful or helpful?


99.99% it is not. ⠀

If it is not, then don’t let this thoughts conquer your mind. Our thoughts do not define us. We control them not other way round. Never forget that you are enough and you have courage to rock this life.

I was pleased to learn I can still do seven (I got up to 10 this summer but haven't been practicing, once I could do at least 22, but a year ago at this time I could do maybe one.) I was surprised to see I was cheating a bit by kipping with my lower legs (except the on the last one, where I knew I was giving myself a little boost). -

And yes, it's a little harder with a boot, and yes, I am wearing a walking boot and have been for almost a month. Long story, but I ran my (very poor) marathon in October. My shoes felt too small on a hot day. I thought I'd get some black toenails. But instead, I developed a few grade 1 bone injuries in my left foot, along with a neuroma. (Those things didn't all happen in one day, but that seems to have been the catalyst.) My bone density is above average (we checked due to the nature of the injury). This is my first significant injury in so many years that I don't even remember the last one. In the end, Hansons Marathon Method, while great for some, was definitely not a good fit for me.

I have a great doctor in former pro runner Adam Tenforde and we have a plan. I might be out of the boot later this week, or not. I have been meaning to work on my weaknesses for years, and this is finally my chance. I've been swimming, spinning (not dr. approved but doesn't hurt, so shhhh), doing strength classes (which totally kick my butt), and lifting weights. It’s amazing how much you can do in a boot. I haven't been doing pull-ups, though, so this challenge will be good for me. -

Needles to say, today’s 3.5 hour hike was a hoot! We had so much fun getting outside as a family & using our imaginations together! 👪

Coming to a realization about that gives me the chills. Now, obviously I’m doing everything I possibly can to live MUCH longer than 78 years old, but I just wanted to make a point. When you start breaking down the days, months, and years you have left it gets REAL. Your time on this earth is going to flash before you eyes faster than you know, so that business you want to start, that move you want to make and that trip you want to take, DO IT. Do it TODAY. Start TODAY. Take ACTION. If you don’t you’ll live a life of regret wondering “what if.” •

(And we had been ALL over the place that day) after frantically searching the house and realizing it was gone forever - I took the rings off my finger (band and engagement ring are attached) and it felt SO WEIRD. I honestly never have take it off except to clean it - and have pretty much kept it on since nathan gave it to me 14.5 years ago.

I totally get it that there are bigger things in life, but I was devastated. I’m so used to losing things y’all - I’m not a super materialistic person because I’ve learned to get over lost things petty quickly 😂 The jeweler said it would cost about $1000 to get a conflict free diamond and I just can’t justify buying a diamond right now. There are like 50 other things I’d rather get/do/give to. I had posted an “I’m so sad right now” instastory, and the SWEETEST GIRL EVER in my Young Living downline messaged me and said she wanted to gift me a beautiful Citrine gem she had, just in case it fit.

Soooooo THIS HAPPENED! Last night we went to the @jlo concert in Vegas and after it was over, Gino surprised me with a meet and greet! I’m still speechless!!! They say don’t meet your idols, but today they are wrong. She was beautiful and classy and after having performed a KILLER two hour show, still took the time to meet us. I put them in the back of my wardrobe, knowing I couldn’t be bothered to return them. And forgot about them.

Searching for something to wear today (and creating a floordrobe in the process), I found them. And decided to give them a try.

3 months of living well and the jeans I truly believed would “never ever fit” now do!

Granted they’re a little snug, see photo 2 of my chub pertruding from the rips. But all in all, I’m happy.

The point of all this... never say never. Whatever you say is impossible will be exactly that. Whatever you believe you can achieve, you can make reality.

Figure out why you don’t think you can get that job, lose the weight, overcome depression. It’s often a program we learnt in childhood. The minute we can see our behaviour and beliefs as fully changeable, we take control.

Something I am incredibly thrilled about. It's easy, I don't have to carry tons of props with me and I can do it literally everwhere. All I need is a tennis ball, trigger point ball or any massage ball. Today's post is all about releasing the hamstrings because - you know - hamstrings get a little bit fibrotic (thickening of the connective tissue).

* Sit on a table or a bench.
* Place the ball under your hamstring right under your sit bones.
* Sink into the ball and put some pressure on your thigh. It's up to you how much pressure you put on it.
* Breathe!
* Lift your leg until you feel a slight pull for 3-5 times (to keep the vid as short as possible I moved a bit quicker than I'd normally would).
* Move the ball towards your knee.
* Move the ball inwards and more to the outside as well.
* Repeat on the other side.

* You should feel a difference soon. If the discomfort doesn't reduce stop doing it and get it checked.
* Little and often is best, especially before practice or after a long period of sitting.
* The smaller the ball the more intense this gets. ⠀
I've done this for a couple of days now, especially in the office after sitting a lot in meetings and OMG my hamstrings FEEL AMAZEBALLZ 🤩.

❗️Take off the weight if it's too much.
❗️Mobilising restricted tissue can be uncomfortable but it should not be unbearable!
❗️Use COMMON SENSE

For example:

You see a gorgeous woman step out of your dream car…

You feel an instant pang of jealousy!

Then, as you look at your own car, messy hair and t-shirt you start feeling even more insignificant
.
“I wish I could afford a car like that”, “I’ll never even fit in that dress!”, “It’s 6pm - how on earth does she still look that good?”
.
These thoughts are extremely hurtful
.
They're just going to make you feel terrible!
.
Instead of blocking these thoughts, allow your brain to see them in a different light:
.
✨What sacrifices did she have to make to get to where she is today? Maybe she works 80 hour weeks. Maybe she only gets home once her kids are asleep. Maybe she has missed every soccer practice
.
✨How long has it taken her? Success doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a grind. How many years of hard work did it take her to get to where she is today? Maybe she didn’t get life handed to her on a silver platter…
.
✨Would you be willing to make all those sacrifices to be able to drive that car? Or are your priorities different? Is money a priority to you? Would you like to spend more time with your husband or your kids
.
✨Is she happy with her job? Unfortunately most people aren’t. Maybe she wishes that she could do something else, but her family pushed her to become something she’s not passionate about
.
✨Is she really happy with her life? Just because everything looks perfect on the outside doesn’t mean it’s true behind closed doors
.
Thinking about her in this way changes jealousy into admiration and respect

For all she is at this moment

And all she could have possibly endured to reach this point

We are so quick to make assumptions

We only focus on the glamor and success

Here are 5 reasons:
1. You’re spending too much time looking for what’s optimal instead of consistently putting in the work. Stop program hopping. Start something, stick to it, then move on.

2. You’re ego-only lifting. There’s more to training than moving a weight from point A to point B. Stop trying to impress people in the gym or on social media with numbers. Drop the load if necessary and lift with proper technique. ➖
3. You’re not tracking your progress. You go into the gym and say “eh, I think I’ll hit chest today” with no guidelines, plan or program in place. Are you lifting the same weight for the same reps with the same form as 2 years ago? Get yourself a training log, a notebook, an app whatever...just make sure you’re improving over time. ➖
4. You’re neglecting recovery. You can train as hard as you want but you’re wasting your efforts if you’re not recovering properly between sessions. This includes managing nutrition, sleep, and stress. ➖
5.  You’re impatient AF! Stop trying to look like a Greek God after 6 months of training. You want to grow and get stronger? Put in the time and be patient. Yes, there are outliers, but it takes years to build a physique you can be really proud of, and in those years you develop skill and experience to keep improving. ⬇️⬇️
I can guarantee if you follow a program from start to finish you will see results. Learn to master the basic lifts, treat your body right with proper nutrition and recovery, and stop focusing on what everyone else is doing. If you've been struggling to get results, commit to at least one of 5 listed above!

I’m talking pushing my cardio to the limit no different then if you had your most brutal leg day in the gym and I’m bike riding 5 days a week. On top of this I’m training 6 days a week in the gym my entire body (2 of which are leg days). I have kept my weight in the low 200’s for several month now. If I can do this then most certainly anyone can do moderate intensity cardio several days a week and still put on muscle. If you can’t you may need to rethink your training routine. Cardio is no going to kill your gains and you don’t need to bulk to the point of getting fat in order to put on muscle. If you stay in decent shape in the off season your contest prep is not only going to be much easier but your body will be a lot healthier. Bodybuilding does not mean body destroying so make sure that your health is a priority and not just winning your next show. If you can’t win while being healthy it’s not worth it. I know we've all been there so I really would just rather a "cheers, me too" because my point is that I let it bother me and ruin my morning. It made me so angry that I've been working out SO much and things in my closet still didn't fit right. I didn't even want to talk to God because I was so moody. I had a lot of plans to get things done before work, but circumstances forced those to change and I ended up wearing my "fat dress" just to get out of the door comfortable and clothed. I got to work a little early and went to get my Acai bowl. As I settled in, I turned on my audio book by Alex Seeley, "Tailor Made." Think you could guess what the section I happened to be listening to was about? It was about Alex's husband who had a suit two sizes too big and they went to get a new one. She mentioned how much better he felt when he was fitted for a suit that actually matched his measurements. She then goes on to talk about how we are to put on the fruits of the spirit like we put on clothes. How much more confident and joyful we will feel when we are clothed in our tailor made, God given talents and purpose. We are to focus more on inward beauty, which we hear all the time in various places, but God chose this morning to speak to me through this audio book, even when I didn't want to speak to Him. She talks about putting on love, joy, peace, etc. and I imagined myself slipping into those attributes verses actual clothes. I imagined looking at God with puppy eyes, "I'm sorry I'm mad at you. I'm going to focus on showing other's the love of God today and not worry about my appearance as much. You call me beautiful, you call me radiant. I pray for an opportunity to encourage someone today as I needed it this morning." I actually am in one of those "I kinda just feel like crying today," moods. My to-do list is overwhelming and I may have over caffeinated so my anxiety is paying a visit. (Cont. in comments)

The face of a mom who knows the importance and reality of life and to not be so critical of myself in the throws of a day that did not go as accordingly as I expected.
I am not perfect. You aren't either and you won't be as a parent. There are going to be more days ahead with your sweet littles that will require your attention than it will require a full face of makeup and perfect hair. This shit is hard. Balance is hard. Mom'ing at any point in your child's life is H A R D. But mamas, remember to smile and just be in the moment. Remember these days aren't forever. We are all writing different chapters that shape us into the person we are today. Sometimes we need to sit back and read over our own writings and learn from what we wrote. Sometimes those chapters are filled with pain and confusion, but in the end it shows us a lot about ourselves.” To put it simply, I have been in a time of reflection over the last couple of months and what I found was, in some ways, really uncomfortable truths about myself that I have had to come to grips with… (first step in growing is being honest to what’s wrong)

If you don’t know me, high school was one of the toughest times of my life. I dealt with a lot of self-doubt and external fear and I never really fit in anywhere. I am not saying this because I am looking for any sympathy. In this fear I learned a lot about myself and it persuaded me to be a part of some amazing adventures in high school and college. I came to college looking to change, but what I found was more confusion about who I was. I became someone that was hard and callused about different views of people and in some ways I forgot how to love people well. Fast forward to the last 4 months which, in some ways, have been some of the hardest days of my life in pursuit of self-reflection, but also some of the biggest time of growth and self-identification. I am graduating in less than 2 weeks, and I never thought I would ever get to this point. I was never great in school and the traditional way of learning has always been tough for me. But with some help from some amazing people in my life, I am graduating!

We don’t know how much time we have on this road of life, so we better do things in this life that are filled with love, friendship, and purpose. Someone really close to my heart once told me to embrace and “do things for yourself”. Self-understanding and learning to be a student of one’s self is a life road that I am so excited to be now running on with some new GOOD socks and worn but trusty SOLES.

Mindset #1: It's been a busy month. I've travelled with my toddler for a week and have a few big work projects coming up where I need to look really fit. I have to do my one hour long workouts to burn enough calories to stay fit. I'll sacrifice sleep to get my workouts in because that's what it takes. I've packed my workout clothes with me because I can't skip my workouts while traveling or I'll regret it.

Mindset #2: It's been a busy month. I've travelled with my toddler for a week and have a few big work deadlines. I know from previous experience that getting even 15-20 minutes of strength training in most days of the week, wherever I am gives me a boost of energy, focus and calm. I don't sacrifice sleep for workouts because I know sleep is just as vital to my well-being as exercise. I've packed my workout clothes with me because getting outside for walks and hikes is my favourite way to experience new places.
.
Both tales include regular exercise. Both stories involve daily movement. One comes from a place fear-based decision making and the other from wholehearted wellness. One tale is attached to needing to workout for a certain amount of time each day, the other is about doing something rather than nothing.
.
I will tell you from personal experience, the second mindset is a whole heck of a lot more sustainable and enjoyable. It is less stressful, it is more adaptable to the ups and downs of life. And most of all, it is not based in shame or fear that I need to maintain a top level of fitness all the time.
.
For where I'm at in life today, my workouts fit into my life rather than my life being planned around my workouts. This is why I rarely exercise longer than 30 minutes. This is why I pick up the weights multiple times per week. It adds to my life but it doesn't take over my life.
.

This picture is from roughly a year ago (pre may, post February), and I look back on it from time to time and just get a gross sinking feeling! At this point in my life, I was newly 19. I had just moved home from Michigan. Due to a mixture of life events, I dropped to 102 pounds, which was the smallest I had been since my freshman year of high school. I weighed less at 19 than I did as a 14 year old. I felt awful, but my conscience said “you look great! Keep doing this.” I still look at this picture and get almost a longing feeling. A longing to be this small again, a longing to have this flat of a stomach again. I scroll through instagram in bed wearing sweatpants and see all of these tiny, happy, ultra fit girls who love their bodies. They seem to have no insecurities, no worries, nothing but happiness. And while I am happy, sometimes I feel jealous of these girls because of how they look.
The truth is, I look at this picture and get sad about how I looked, but I didn’t look like that 99% of the time. This is what angles and lighting do. We only show others what we want them to see. I’m learning to accept myself but also change my lifestyle into something healthier. I know it’s been said time and time again but comparing yourself to others is truly one of the unhealthiest things you can do for yourself. I may think this looks great but I was truly at my lowest, unhealthiest point. Aspire to be the best you that you can. You can’t keep saying “tomorrow” if tomorrow never comes. Do it today.

What’s the point in me telling you this 🤷🏽‍♀️? To share with you that we ALL have a day 1. We all (well not the natural born athletes 🙄😛) start as beginners. We all start by doing push-ups on our knees and with time, CONSISTENCY, patience, self love and more patience & consistency we progress to doing them on our toes-one of many examples.

I get it, you follow all these “fitness people” on IG and you see what they do and you think to yourself that you can never do that or how awesome it must be for that person to be so strong & fit. We see people’s success, victories, highlight reels but you don’t know what all had to happen behind the scenes for that person to get where they are. We don’t see all the failures, set backs, crack of dawn grinds, tears, sweat, injuries, years of constant hustle and everything else it takes for people to have success. We all start from day 1 and one day at a time. One workout at a time. One small daily win at a time. One small scale or non-scale victory at a time —we get BETTER, STRONGER, HEALTHIER! But in order for that to happen, you have to be willing to push play on your day 1. You have to be willing to put all the “behind the scenes work” in order to one day be able to do what your body can’t do today.

There are a couple reasons I wanted to review this album. The first is that heavy Christian music is basically dead. Sure, there are plenty of small bands that still pop up and a couple of the big ones have vague references to their beliefs, but Impending Doom is one of the few that’s still straightforward about it. After For Today decided to call it quits there has been a massive gap in the Christian metal scene, especially compared to how strong it was in the late 2000’s, and I think Impending Doom should get some credit for partially filling that hole.

Another reason I wanted to review this is because a lot of people loved Fit For A King’s recent single “Tower of Pain”, but may not have realized that a lot of it sounds exactly how Impending Doom has sounded since at least 2012. I just want to point out that Impending Doom is essentially the heavier version of FFAK.

It’s interesting though because Impending Doom is still in the 2014 mode of deathcore which was getting closer and closer to metalcore (still has heavy breakdowns but the lyrics became a lot easier to understand). I almost don’t want to call them deathcore because in a lot of ways they’re essentially an extra heavy metalcore band and not very similar to 2018 deathcore bands like Angelmaker, Oceano, Shadow of Intent, etc in terms or heaviness and technicality. It’s not bad by any means, and I’m 95% sure this is the style Chelsea Grin’s new album will fall into, it’s just not really deathcore anymore.

The plus side to this album being less technical is that it feels groovier. The monotone vocal style kind of reminds me of Meshuggah and they do a good job of pairing the vocals with the grooves to build up sections before the breakdowns.

Overall this is a solid album by a band that I’m glad is still around. I remember the first time I heard ‘Nailed. Dead. Risen.’ and Impending Doom has had a place in my playlist ever since.

I have MAD love for this yoga challenge I'm participating in. It is in my own way, teaching me to respect all parts of my body (especially those that get TWISTED deeply.) Twists are not only insanely "beautiful" for a lack of better words, they are also insanely "detoxifying" But for some of us that means parts of the body look a little less toned, a little less kept in our clothes (it kinda makes me feel like my tummy is a glob monster oozing from those hidden areas (my own insecurities I know stupid)) but let's face it there's no real way to cover up or mask certain aspects of the body (whichever it is for you that you're trying to hide, it's difficult.) No matter how fit or "phat" you are! The only way we can cover up these parts of the body is by covering them in enormous amounts of love & respect.... One day maybe just one day they won't be so bad anymore in our own eyes... Anyways point is: I'm gonna share with you front & back view because I really actually like both pics and couldn't decide which one to post for today's challenge. I just liked my front view a little less because of my tummy. ⭐⭐ I'm in love with the intensity of this revolving birds of paradise posture. I too have blubber (I've told you that before and I'll tell you it again) but it WON'T STOP ME FROM PRACTICING YOGA!!! And I wanna keep it real, so here's both pics. I’m not going to lie.... the last round of my workouts was not a great one🏼‍♀️ I worked out (ish) everyday, but I paid no attention to my diet, or sleep. I didn’t track my weights, I took every rest day and I wasn’t on any kind of quest to accomplish anything. I didn’t have a goal or a plan, I just ... I’m not going to lie.... the last round of my workouts was not a great one😂😢💁🏼‍♀️ I worked out (ish) everyday, but I paid no attention to my diet, or sleep. I didn’t track my weights, I took every rest day and I wasn’t on any kind of quest to accomplish anything. I didn’t have a goal or a plan, I just went through the motions as life was happening around me and ended up where I am today 8 weeks later...

Sometimes, the journey is simply trying. It’s not giving completely up, maybe just a little bit up🤷🏼‍♀️ Sometimes it’s about cheat meals + feels goods and 💦 sweat in between.

As a coach, the past 7 years have been about discipline, personal development & creating healthier habits. During that time of goals being set, programs being completed, diets being more on point & habits built, I’m able to continue to make progress whether “life” gets in the way or not. I may not have the prettiest results or the most inspiring story to share from it, but what I have is so much more valuable to me than that.

I never give up. Ever. Even when I’m puttering On fumes, I’ll get out and push myself to finish. Too many people lose their way because a number wasn’t hit, a pair of pants didn’t fit, the food wasn’t perfect or they weren’t where they were “supposed” to be. ⠀
Eff that.

Healthy living is a daily practice. It never ends, it’s never completed. It’s imperfect and messy and sweaty. It takes grit and perseverance and discipline. It’s one workout and one bite at a time and every next bite and every NEXT workout counts.

If you’ve given up far to quickly in the past, here is your friendly reminder that if you’re chasing better timing, perfect conditions or “waiting until life settles down”... you’ve already lost. It’s about working through life ♡, through failure ♡, through success ♡, through busy ♡, through slow ♡, through triumph ♡, through tragedy ♡, through whatever this life offers.

Keep going. Keeping starting again. Keep grinding for that finish no matter how good, bad or ugly. Sometimes the outcome isn’t the prize, it’s the lesson. #grind #grit #noexcuses #work #sacrifice #win

Here’s the deal: I’m big on taking the high-road...it is the road I travel most often. However, there are those times when I don’t hesitate to put a person all the way in their place when they’ve earned it. And you should know that I am here for it all, the good, the bad, the ugly! You’ve probably guessed that I am BIG on respect and consideration. Yes indeed. I would never dream of publicly humiliating or embarrassing another woman for any reason. I don’t read unsigned notes, nor do I write them. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. These days, we seem to have a whole population of internet serial killers who use their key-boards as weapons to spread hate, discord, judgment and destruction. They write things online that they would never have enough courage to say face to face.
If you fit that description and are reading this post, I have a solid piece of advice for you: DON’T BRING YOUR NON-SENSE TO MY PAGE. While I pride myself on being a lady, I don’t tolerate disrespect from anyone. And I will clap-back if you come at me the wrong way. Here’s what I know for sure, this world is BIG enough for more than one point of view to live and thrive. I don’t have to be wrong for you to be right, and you don’t have to be wrong for me to be right. We can agree to disagree and keep it moving. I wish I can lift the weight he does. 2️⃣”Man I can lift way more than he can.” One thing that I pride myself in doing and tell others at the gym is to stop comparing themselves to other people. Reason being is because you don’t fully understand someone’s goals by looking or watching them at the gym. Today’s 420lbs for 4 Sets of 4 Reps is practice for the 540lbs that I’m scheduled to hit in the next 5-6 weeks. I can throw 495lbs on the bar and hit that for reps but that will completely take me away from my goal(s). Others in the gym may see me as their competition at the gym and that’s fine. That’s on them but I’ll never let me ego come out just to prove a point. Train with a purpose, be strategic in your approach and the results you want will come!!! 💪🏽😎💯

I’m guessing most people have a program on their fitness journey that is the turning point. The moment when the hard work is no longer about the scale, and you welcome the positive mindset shift for a lifetime. 80 Day Obsession was that for me.
It seemed so beyond what I was capable of doing before I started.
But here I am 80 days later so much stronger in my mind, body and spirit.
I am so proud of myself because I did this for me. I’m 37 years old, homeschool my four kids ages 2-10 and I have never been particularly fit. I reached my goal weight window before starting 80DO so ate in maintenance. I never felt deprived and honestly learned how to fuel my body with food for working hard. 😭 Whatever your goals are keep pushing play. In August 2017, I was 5’8”, 160 lbs, lethargic and borderline depressed. Today I’m 139lbs and in the best shape of my life. Lifting heavy and eating clean. Fitness and the word fit is a broad term, swipe to see the dictionary definition 😅 there is nothing there that actually defines what this insignificant boy, yes you are a boy because men should know better than to try belittle and bully a female. Anyways there is no definition on this page that says “fit” should be a word used to Describe how lean someone is.
When I was growing up before I got into bodybuilding and being the regular gym goer, the word “fit” to me described someone who had good all around fitness levels, was cardiovascularly fit, was strong and was healthy.
Why have we skewed our perception of the word “fit”. Want to know something funny, most people who get this description of the word “fit” in relation to their leanness generally aren’t actually fit, they lack in energy, lack in overall health and with this I bet you they couldn’t run for very long! Well I know this was me when that individual previously described me as “the fittest girl I know”. Society today defines us around the term “fit” by our external image only, we have totally thrown out the analysis of how our body actually performs and are completely brainwashed and controlled only by how we and others view us aesthetically.
I still let this sometimes get to me and think about putting myself through the hardships and sacrifices to get my body back to that image of “fit” that is forced upon us the only way to be “fit” but then I think about how far I have come to get to this point, to actually truly feel fit from the inside and to have my health almost completely back on track and I forget about attaining that silly “goal”

I’m guilty of that. Took some time off from squatting heavy and strength definitely took a hit. Doesn’t mean the strength is completely lost just means I need to work my body back up to the heavier weight. Today I had 355lbs scheduled but my body wasn’t 100% so I decided to work on some cues with 340lbs instead. One thing I noticed from my progression in the past is that I didn’t sink properly in the hole when the weight got heavier which is something I need to focus on moving forward on squats. As a tall guy, I always get props for reaching the depth. That’s going to be my main priority of focus. No matter what weight load I have scheduled, I need to properly engage all muscle groups to work together. If I do that, my entire squat will get stronger which in turn will make the heavy weight move that much more effectively. So I’m glad for this slight setback because it has help me realize a weakness that I have to apply more focus towards!!! Finding your weak points isn’t a negative thing. It’s actually a good thing because it will only make you better if you continuously work to make them a stronger point!!! 💪🏽😎🙏🏽

It was scary having to sit there and go through page by page of everything that could go wrong. I mean, I'm basically going to become a test subject to see if these drugs can cure my cancer. At this point I don't really have a lot of options and I still have a lot of fight in me - so why not. Go big or stay sick, right? It's been tough waiting around. I feel anxious all the time. It's frustrating that this may help me but I have to wait until my insurance approves every test and general care I need. Somebody has to get paid I guess 🤷🏽‍♂️ Then they’ll run all these tests to see if I’m a right fit for this trial. As each day passes, I lose my mind more and more. Everyone tells you to hang in there and be patient but it's so different being on the other end. I try my best to keep it together but some days it’s just overwhelming. Work has definitely been helpful in keeping my mind distracted. But my creative side has taken a back seat. It's been tough keeping up with my photography. So today I'm promising myself to get back into it. Push myself again and who knows maybe I’ll take on some projects or finally start printing my work. I’ll keep you all updated. That started with one person (my dad). I had 0 people reach out when I first ‘announced’ I was a trainer and taking clients. What the heck right?! Come 2014, I had a couple clients from the gym I was working at, and maybe 1 from instagram after I started posting fitness/nutrition related content (sup @colbyhoudlette ☺️)

Between 2014-2016 I was working 4-5 jobs at a time. Trainer at two different gyms, front desk at each of those gyms, Office manager at a PT Clinic & Ice Girl for the Boston Bruins (commuting to Boston 3x per week).

At this point I felt VERY lost, spread so thin, was losing clients because of my ever changing schedule with the Bruins & wondering how the hell to succeed in this personal training thing.
.
In 2015 I made the Ice Girl team again for the 2015-2016 season. But it didn’t feel right. As ‘cool’ of a job as it was, it wasn’t me and it wasn’t fulfilling. My heart wasn’t there so I quit before the season started and decided to go ALL IN on getting clients and helping them get great results.

From 2015-2016 I worked my ass of getting clients & putting out value on social media. Still no idea I wanted to open my own studio, just wanted to keep helping people.

In the spring of 2016, I was finally *barely* making enough $ to live from just training clients at the 2 gyms I worked at.

June of 2016 I saw this empty space next to where @cfcwear had just moved in. The second I saw that space I knew exactly what I wanted to do & I never looked back.

It was a giant risk but I knew in my heart it was the right choice. I was confident that I would make it work because I wanted it so badly.

And here we are today at Fit Justice 2.0 still learning, still growing, still working as hard as I can to make it work, still just a girl wanting to help people with their fitness goals💪🏼⚖️

And as I think about my life, it’s also true in many areas, not just financially.

-Finances:
Most of my best friends are very well off financially.

-Health:�Most of my friends work out regularly and are pretty damn fit.

-Desire:
Most of my friends are crazy motivated to take their life to the next level.

-Happiness:
Most of my friends are pretty freakin happy. I don’t tend to surround myself with pepole who are down on life.

I could list many others but you get the point.

W. Clement Stone said, “You are a product of your environment. So choose the environment that will best develop you toward your objective. Analyze your life in terms of its environment.”

It pretty much goes without saying that the power of association is amazingly important. I’m guessing you know that… the question is, what are you doing about it?

Who in your life is pulling you down? How much longer are you going to tolerate it?

Who in your life could pull you up? What kind of commitment have you made to getting closer into their circle?

Today’s message is a reminder to be INTENTIONAL about your associations. It’s easy to hang around with people who are average. That’s why most people are average. .

Get serious about who is going to be in your circle over the next 6-12 months and take action on it.

Through my journey God kept me covered, through my mistakes He never left me... He patiently waited for me to finally realize that anything I fill myself up with in this world would leave me empty. Alright guys, It’s about time I move on from last weekend’s incident. The past few days have been emotionally tough for me. I’ve been isolated, I’ve been staying away from the phone, I really haven’t had any desire to even leave the house, and I’ve been eating! Lol Coming off from a pro debut win and planning a show two weeks after happened to be a bad call on my end. I’ve done a total of 8 shows and had no problem pushing through the “running on E/dying” feeling. This time around I experienced something different that was interfering peaking for the show. Plenty of people do shows back to back but everyone has their own plan they follow and their own experiences. Some suffer more than others coming into shows to bring their best.. to get straight to the point, dehydrating for shows is dangerous. Even if it’s just for a few days..be cautious of dehydrating when doing back to back shows. Make sure your body is ready for it and make sure there aren’t any other factors making matters worse. For example, make sure you’re not pushing through symptoms of dehydration while New Jersey goes through a heat wave! Today, a week later, I’m in good spirits, at peace, and feel better physically and mentally. I’ve taken some time out of the past few days to really think, learn from this, and strategize on the next plan. I believe everything happens for a reason and it was a sign from the man above stopping me to continue what I was putting my body through. Thank you to everyone who was there for me the past few days helping me get back on my feet and sending positive messages. My plans now are to feel 100% again within the next few weeks and to move on to the next show. This is Me...July 8th 2018. It’s not lost on me that I’ve been posting a lot about my body lately. When I was growing up the only way people would refer to my body was “skinny” nothing more. It’s not lost on me that I’ve been posting a lot about my body lately. When I was growing up the only way people would refer to my body was “skinny” nothing more. It was never a compliment and lingered over me for a long time. I used to dance in the middle of summer in sweats and jackets so I looked bigger, cringe at auditions when they said take your shirt off, and constantly feel like since I was “skinny” I was less than to everyone around me.
Today the only thing that has changed is that I have worked harder than I ever have to feel proud and to accept the body that I am living in! Each day pushing limits and focusing on being the best I can. And truthfully what’s changed is my thought process. Instead of thinking the worst or focusing on a negative I’ve retaught myself to fill my life with Self Love. Saying I’m proud of myself, I’m not in competition with anyone but myself, and not wearing a shirt or dancing at an auditions now brings excitement because I stayed focused on the joy and talent of what I do and worked my butt off to get to a point where if anyone is watching me in that room, I’m confident. And I whole heartedly can say I am proud of my work today and look forward to seeing where I am in the months to come! ❤️ -

Today I was walking through the grocery store, getting some caffeine, and what I saw literally shocked me. So many people are mindlessly walking through the grocery stores. Mindlessly loading up crap they don’t need. If you’re really serious about fat loss, you should go into the grocery store like it’s a damn military operation. You should have a plan, know what you need AND don’t waiver from the plan. Of course, getting some foods that you like makes adherence to your diet better. But at least 80% of your cart should consist out of these 4 groups.

1️⃣ Proteins.
2️⃣ Complex carbs.
3️⃣ Fruits and vegetables.
4️⃣ Healthy fats.

You don’t really need more!!! Seriously, keep things simple. Don’t load up on candy and chocolate. Of course having some is possible, but don’t load up on it.

My average cup size I fit in my shop is DD, DDD, G, and H, and I (US cup sizes). Sizes like 34B, 36B, 38B, and 38C are actually some of the most rare bra sizes I fit and these are the most common sizes you see in stores. WHY??! Because it's cheaper for retailers and manufacturers to carry a way small range of sizes. So this makes it really hard for the average American woman to find sizes larger than a DDD. This is one of the biggest reasons why so many women wear the wrong bra size is because lack of accessibility. There's more retailers carrying a small range of sizes then places like myself who carry a wider range of sizes. No fear my ladies. I carry up to a K UK cup and with @bosombesties going to be launching soon these sizes will be available to every single bosomed lady in America. (.)(.) 🙌🙌🙌

My first ever #flexfriday even though I didn’t lift today... oh my gosh have I been off my game this week. I missed a day at the gym and I ate terribly. I let stress get the best of me and it hit hard. But today is a new day and that’s what I’m holding onto at this point. New day, new opportunity to be better. ... I let stress get the best of me and it hit hard. But today is a new day and that’s what I’m holding onto at this point. New day, new opportunity to be better. I needed to clear my head and just reset myself so I ran 3 miles today and did high incline brisk pace walk in between each mile for a total of 50 minutes (11min/mile run). Wish I could’ve kept going but I’m very short on time this next week! •
