I had a guy come up to me after my one rep max who told me that I probably shouldn't be squatting that heavy and I should try "squatting 30". Now my instinct was to go off on a rant but gathered my thoughts and instead made him aware that I have a coach and I read up on what I'm doing and not just blindly lift what I want. I also had to make sure he understood that there may be people who are less confident and that it'd be sad to see girls or guys stop lifting heavier because he is saying things like that without proper background knowledge.

For squatting you ideally want a shoe that has a non-compressible sole for better stability when you're under load. Above to the left✅ are some solid👌🏽/ common choices amongst lifters.
.
The choice of either a flat or elevated heel will vary from person to person based on a couple things such as squatting style, mobility restrictions, and your biomechanical structure.
.
Some lifters prefer a flat shoe such as the chuck Taylor or wrestling shoe and some prefer the raised heal such as the adi-powers above or a nike romaleos.
.
Most of the time High-bar squatters will more commonly choose weightlifting shoe since it will allow them to go deeper and maintain a more upright torso.
.
These could also be beneficial especially if you lack ankle mobility. The raised heel will give you an artificial ankle dorsiflexion, again allowing you to stay more upright. I would advise you work on ankle mobility drills and don't just go for the quick fix if this is the case.
.
The weightlifting shoe is one of the best investments I've made and I think ANYBODY could benefit from them especially if you are doing squatting of any kind.
.
Regardless of your preference, My advice is to simply try to avoid your feet from feeling like you're squatting in marshmallows by getting a stiff/ non-compressible shoe.
.
Stop your friend from squatting in marshmallows such as running sneakers or Jordans.
.
Oh! and what I like to call the Jesus 7s I hope nobody is really squatting in sandals 😂😂

365x5x3 today. Didn't take into account how fatigued I would be from deadlift volume since my body isn't really adjusted to it yet, so I shut it down after squatting. Squats - 160kg x 5 Bodyweight - 99.8kg So today's squats went ok I was meant to get 6 here, my hip ( good side ) and my hamstring tendon ( bad side ) are both on the way out, Hip/Groin inside is burning and my tendon is grinding on my prosthetic I feel my heavy squatting sessions are going to cause ... So today's squats went ok I was meant to get 6 here, my hip ( good side ) and my hamstring tendon ( bad side ) are both on the way out, Hip/Groin inside is burning and my tendon is grinding on my prosthetic

I feel my heavy squatting sessions are going to cause some big damage, I have pushed the hip and tendons to the limit for now and I am making the difficult decision to change over to deadlift and bench only for the foreseeable future

I have to consider not only my family life but my work and lifting careers so for now Squat is taking a back seat
