LONG POST: I'd be lying if said I didn't know why I've been hovering back and forth in the mid-260s these past several weeks. I don't talk about this much but to anybody who's been/is morbidly obese they've more than likely struggled with some form of ED or eating disorder (even if they didn't know it). Typically we think of EDs as something only "skinny" or "underweight" individuals deal with but it's also an issue extremely overweight and obese people (and many other people) suffer from too. I know people joke and say "oh I'm fat because I love food" but everybody loves food. So to be honest nobody gets 150-200+ lbs overweight from simply "liking" food that much (I'm sure there are exceptions)
.
.
So what happened? Well I've been impulsively eating between meals, sort of like miniature binges. For me this looks like: constantly tasting whatever I'm cooking, picking at leftovers, passively snacking (eating 1-2 cookies, a spoon full of ice cream etc). To put it simpler, it's eating small things that seem insignificant at the time but collectively add up over the weeks. I even messed up today since this is turning into a confessional lol.
.
.
To be fair I haven't really gained, and I'm still very much in control but these actions have definitely stalled my progress. I guess I'm writing this for my own accountability and to share that even though I've lost about 230lbs Im nowhere near prefect and I still struggle with the basics every so often. .

So your fat loss is slow 🐢 this took me 6️⃣ months and let’s just say results did not happen overnight .
.
A lot of times people will start a fatloss/ fitness journey and get impatient with their results. They expect to lose 10lbs in a month and get their “goal body” in 6 weeks 😅 I hate to break it to you but it takes time!
.
.
Real fat loss is done by losing roughly 0.5-1% of your BF per week 🔥 that’s not alot but compound that by weeks on end and that’s when you see major results! In my bikini prep my weight stalled for a solid 7️⃣ weeks but @paulrevelia helped me push through. I kinda let myself go my 2017 off season because I was depressed and living in a toxic environment 😕 once I got out of that place, committed to my coach and my body results happened!
Yes as a coach I still have my own coach because I know how hard it can be to look at yourself subjectivity 🤔
.
.
Plus sometimes you can get frustrated by not seeing the scale budge at all! Here’s what you need to do though y’all
If you really want results that last ➡️💪🏻
.
.
Take is slow and steady and commit fully 🔹Give yourself at LEAST 12 weeks to truly change your body 🔹Take progress pictures and measurements because the scale lies and can just show water fluctuations ➡️fun fact you can hold and fluctuate roughly 🔟lbs of water weight 🔹Love your body before you start a fat loss phase because a goal weight won’t bring happiness 🔹know that weight lifting and living a healthy consistent lifestyle will only being better results as the years compound .
.
So I encourage you to ask yourself? Are you committed or are you just wanting a quick fix 🤔
.
.
You have to work for what you earn and be patient ➡️your body is under construction allow it time to change. Rome wasn’t built in a day

Then suddenly I have a handful of things finished and, well, that’s what I’m celebrating this windy Wednesday. Productivity doesn’t always look like a clear block of time. (At this particular personal moment, it rarely does!) Among other things, I’m making summer stock for one of my favorites, @theweatheredbarn, out in Greenport, NY.

In the beginning, I would find myself starting diet and fitness plans, but would almost inevitably fall off the wagon. My lack of success in these early years had nothing to do with a lack of knowledge though. I already knew how to train hard and eat well; I studied, researched, read books, and asked questions. But what I was lacking was a driving force - a reason. A "why".⠀
-⠀
It's all well and good to set a goal to have visible abs in 12 weeks, but is it enough to sustain you? Is it enough to get you out of bed to train at 4am? Is it enough to keep you on track with your eating plan when Ben & Jerry's beckons from the freezer? Often we need to go beyond the surface of what we think we want and really ask ourselves "why" we want to achieve these things. Why is losing weight, wearing size 8 jeans, or having visible abs so important? Why does it really MATTER?⠀
-⠀
👉🏼Is it because you are tired of looking in the mirror and being upset with what you see?⠀
-⠀
👉🏼Is it because your health is suffering and you want to be around longer for your family?⠀
-⠀
Whatever the reason, you need to emotionally connect with it and keep it in the forefront of your mind.⠀
-⠀
Change is hard, physically and emotionally, but if we believe we are capable and that it is worth it, there is no reason why we can't accomplish our goals. So if you're lacking motivation, feeling stuck or like your progress has stalled, perhaps it's time to revisit your "why". #makeithappen 👙 @kl_swimwear⠀

Quickie Doodle - And that's the end of that job application process. Just got word today that they filled the position. Admittedly, it was kind of a relief. If I had gotten it, it would have been a drop in pay as well as heading back to a previous job site. That leaves two applications in progress. I just entered the background check portion for one and dropped off my packet last week. Like most, I did some very stupid things shortly after high school and, although it was a long time ago and I'm definitely not that person anymore, it's still embarrassing to have to dig that stuff back out and put it on display. Oye. The other job application seems to have just stalled for unknown reasons. No information, no updates, nada..... Probably for the best. While I'm trying not to get my hopes up on either, I really want the job I entered background on. It wouldn't be an easy job but the job duties look to be super interesting and challenging. I doubt I would be bored which is awesome. OK, OK, OK....starting to get mentally excited about it. Gotta calm down. Lol. Alrighty, back to doodling. Just picked up some OT for tomorrow which means only one day off. Hope y'all have a great day today.

She started following us and saw the value in the professional accountability and evidence-based apporach we offer. She hired us and knocked off another 24 lbs. and 20 inches! And the best part? After a short break she came back (this is NOT easy to do on your own as many people come to realize) and has tightened up even more! 💪

Once my bench broke 365, I basically became incapable of making bench progress with a frequency lower than 4x per week. I chalked it up as an oddity (my body is weird), and didn't think too much about it.
Then, when working on this analysis, I found what looked like a surprisingly strong and consistent relationship between training frequency and gains in pressing strength. I told @helms3dmj about it, and he had the same experience I did. His bench was stalled at 315 for over 5 years, and then jumped up to 363 in a matter of months when he started benching in every training session.
It turns out we're not just weird. I just polished off this article and triple checked the results, and it seems that higher training frequencies really are strongly and reliably associated with larger gains in pressing strength, but there's a lot more to the story.
I wanted to move the conversation about frequency past just squabbling about the Norwegian Frequency Project. There's been a LOT of data published in the past year, and the frequency literature is finally ready for a thorough analysis.
Check it out! The link's on my profile.

Normally when I disappear for a bit, it’s because I’ve fallen off the wagon and have binged myself into a coma so deep that I can’t type 😂 That is NOT the case this time. I’ve been quiet and honestly not spending nearly as much time on insta as I was. I found myself caught in the trap of comparison (again) and wondering what more I could do to drop this weight quicker. To be honest, my weight loss has sort of stalled. I’m not exactly sure why. I’ve been sticking with my increased calories, working out, and staying consistent. And I’m just stuck. It’s frustrating to say the least so I’m looking for victories that aren’t found on the scale or in the size of my jeans- Like the fact that I keep going despite seeing little or no progress. That’s a heck of an accomplishment in itself and something I have never done before. I plan on making an appointment with a doctor soon to see if something bigger could be causing this. In the meantime, I’ll try to be better about posting my life again! Xoxo

Lately I’ve been getting lots of messages from clients and my IG fam on how to stay consistent while eating out. You all know that I LOVE MY FOOD and trying new things when eating out, so I figured I’d share some of my tips and tricks on how to manage your calories and not go overboard. -
Every Monday, I will be rolling out on my IG story “Calorie Swap Monday”. Here you’ll be able to compare different amounts of calories in foods from restaurants like chipotle to coffee shops like Starbucks 🤤 If you check out my IG story I already have some suggestions up there for you to screenshot! This will be super helpful for those of you who go on vacays or “on the go” civilians who eat out for lunch during the work week 😁Where are all my go-getters at 💁‍♀️👠💼👔
-
Calorie Swap Monday is perfect to give those an idea into just how many calories you’re actually consuming. Ex. Someone who might think they’re making good decisions when it comes to eating out when they order the chipotle salad instead of the burger but then the salad actually ends up having more calories 😣
If you’re finding it difficult to stay on track when your progress has stalled + no longer seeing results, you might want to take a good look at your nutrition. -
Shoot me a DM to get back on track and head over to my website www.demefit.com for more info on nutrition tips and training!😎🤩

You know what inspires ME? Well, my passion is just being about to positively impact the lives of others. And more specifically to take a client who is having a hard time figuring out this fitness thing on their own, and showing them that hope is POSSIBLE. That success is POSSIBLE. Even if they've tried and failed in the past, that there IS ALWAYS a way to get to the body of their dreams. Yes, it takes work, yes it takes effort. But my job is to not only give them the road map, but to teach them the actionable skills to be able to eventually work on their own - without me. And it's crazy how someone who seemed to have stalled when they came seeking my help suddenly sees things transforming before their eyes. Such is the case with one of my clients in my 8 week total transformation program, Transform(Her). On our group coaching call earlier this week, she shared with us that an unexpected trip to a clothing store proved that our work is having a HUGE impact on her physique. In just 3 weeks, she's down from size 10 to size 6. And as she said in REAL CLOTHES, not stretchy ones, lol. It goes to show that when you have 3 crucial things in place: 1. Your diet, 2. your nutrition, 3. your MINDSET + GOALS + an actionable plan - ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING is possible. I hope her progress and recent triumph inspires you too.

It can be extremely frustrating when your weightloss has plateaued after a certain amount of time dieting, but this is normal and usually is going to happen.
.

When this happens to my clients, one might assume that the first thing I do is adjust their calories/macros to get things moving again, but that's actually the LAST thing I think about doing. .

Here's what I do first:
1️⃣ Ensuring they are adhering to their diet.
2️⃣ Review their progress photos and measurements because the scale is not the only measure of progress.
3️⃣ Factor in energy levels, sleep, stress levels, digestion, sodium and soreness/fatigue as all of those can affect bodyweight.
.
If everything is in check, and progress has truly stalled, THEN I will adjust macros to get things moving again. .
It is true that you will probably have to adjust your calories/macros throughout your diet phase, but it is also true that this isn't the first thing you should do. The goal is to make progress on the highest amount of calories possible 🙌🏼 #becausefoodislife😋

As the life-experience sort of anxiety expert 😜, I can tell you that ALIGNED ACTION is right up there with meditation for game changing, practical tools to release yourself from your own personal tornado.
.
It’s so easy to get stuck in our heads, to get overwhelmed by the tasks on our plate or want to have greater clarity before taking action but camping out in the anxiety tent is not only unproductive — it’s straight up NOT FUN. Miserable, some may even say.. 🙋🏼‍♀️.
.
So here’s a few things I do to get out of my head and back into my heart AND MY LIFE.
.
.
. 💃🏻 1. Meditate and then ask yourself, “what’s the one thing I could do right now that would feel like progress?” It doesn’t matter if it’s doing the dishes or sending that email — just listen and do. The next step will follow once you start the momentum.
.
💃🏻 2. Whittle down my To Do list to THREE things that would feel amazing to accomplish today. These items should be practical to get done in the time you have or this will backfire. 🤓 Smaller to do lists = you ending the day feeling like a champ AND more excited to tackle tomorrow’s tasks — win win win.
.
💃🏻3. Text a friend and let them know that you are going to do X for the next hour and just want someone to be accountable to. This helps get you moving and friends will LOVE to let you return the favor when they need the boost. #getbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends
.
💃🏻 4. Remember that ANY action is progress and you can’t “get it wrong”. At worst, you learn that task was not aligned with your greater intention and make a mental note for tomorrow! Failure is just fast learning and is wayyy better than being stalled in anxiety central.👌🏼
.
💃🏻5. Switch to SERVICE mode. If I’m stuck in my head I’m focusing on me and not all the people i could be serving. If I ask myself “how can I be of service right now?” it never fails to get me moving!
.
Just some #practicalmagic for being human! Screenshot this if it helped and keep it for overwhelming days. Feel free to comment below with your favorite aligned action hacks and join the convo. And of course, if you need more help getting unstuck DM me or head to the link in my bio. Xo, C ✨ #LightMaker

Progress stalled a little last week as my metabolism adapted to my caloric intake. Was as simple as removing 20g of carbs from my daily diet and increasing my weekly cardio by 400 calories. This small change has resulted in me hitting a new low weigh-in yesterday. I always recommend using the mirror as your main instrument of judging progress.. but I know my body well enough to also use the scales as well! Have a great Easter! 😊💪🏼❤️

When you’re on Contest Prep it’s easy to get impatient and want to drastically drop calories when you don’t see progress for a week. Sometimes this is called for, sometimes it is not. Having a good coach or guide to help you in this process can ensure that we don’t let our ‘prep brain’ take over.
.
Last week @hollytbaxter was sure that she had stalled and wanted to drop calories. I took a look at the data and also couple that with the fact that she was on her menstrual cycle and urged her to hold off decreasing calories just like it says in my ebook ‘The Complete Contest Prep Guide’ (link in profile). The guide gives guidelines for when to make changes and when to hold steady. Based on these guidelines we held steady... much to the chagrin of Holly’s ‘prep brain.’ What happened this week? BOOM! 1.2kg of weight loss! Now imagine if we had unnecessarily decreased her calories when she was already feeling tired and lethargic.
.
Now she’s headed into her diet break week (also detailed in my ebook prep guide) feeling more confident and reinvigorated! Check out her full update video on my YouTube channel!
.
Also side note: #wcw on @hollytbaxter 😍😍😍 amiright? Talk about beauty and brains. Make sure to give her a follow and subscribe to her YouTube to watch her prep journey and our ridiculous antics.

-
Meaning, when you are in a sate of stasis, it shows that you have ambition but you have stalled and slow down the process to get there.
-
I often see this happening with clients who have weight loss goals. They usually start then within a week or 3 weeks they stall and give up 😔
-
This is the EXACT reason in which prevents people from reaching their weight loss and health goals.
-
They wait for that perfect moment. The perfect timing to get things done THEN they will do it.
-
OR if they don’t see results quickly (which are often unrealistic for that type of time-frame) they throw in the towel.
-
It’s not about being perfect with this. It’s more important to progress consistently then to do nothing at all.
-
Having an all or nothing approach will only set you up for failure ☝️
-
You are better off just meeting yourself where you are and getting started and make small but consistent changes.
-
The thing is, you will be AMAZED by what you can achieve by doing that as oppose to ‘finding the perfect moment’ to do things.
-
Don’t be in a stasis state. Be in a flowing state.
-
Each moment we have a choice in how we want to feel. We need to be disciplined enough to take charge of those moments.

Each week is full of people who have supported, educated, and lead you to where we are today. Super cool to go back to see @bigndfan kill it each morning. While going back to @monmouthcollege to speak to a few classes, it’s crazy how time can fly and that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Training and nutrition has been pretty solid overall. Nutrition this week and last was okay, so my progress for SUMMER SHRED stalled just a little. As far as @neverbeenstronger, we have partnered with @3stepkicking and #AllTimeFitness ( @swade_physique )- I am excited to help more people reach their health and fitness goals. Never Been Stronger is a lifestyle, training and supplementation just is a part of it. As far as this week, we slapped it in the face and will be back next week. 🍕🍻

If you’re already fairly lean and you’re conditioned, you will likely need to pay much closer attention to your diet in order to continue to see drops if your progress has stalled. This is because your body becomes more efficient at burning fuel the more conditioned you become.
.
RESTRICT/BINGE VS. MODERATE DEFICIT: You aim for diet perfection during the week. This is tough and is enough to make most people ready to completely let loose when Friday rolls around. And when you think you are working hard for your calorie deficit, this weekend binge is actually putting you at maintenance or in a surplus. Aim for a moderate deficit instead that allows room for weekday treats, too. It’ll feel less like a diet and more manageable.
.
SMALL MACRO ADJUSTMENTS VS. MACRO OVERHAUL: Yes, a deficit is necessary to lose body fat. There are ways to make that deficit less painful, though. Instead of searching for those “perfect macros” (not a thing!), focus first on quantity, second on the nutrient breakdown. If you’ve traditionally eaten a higher carb/ lower fat diet and are stuck, instead of making small changes that still result in HC/LF, why not try a high fat/ low carb? I’ve found for myself and many of my client that a high fat/low carb deficit is much more enjoyable and as a result, more successful, leaving you feeling fuller for longer.
.
INCREASING WORKOUT LENGTH/INTENSITY VS. NON-EXERCISE ACTIVITY:
Longer, more intense workouts are not always the answer when you’re conditioned and are trying to drop more body fat. Where does it end? How many hours, how much sweat, is enough? These workouts can be exhausting and draining and inhibit you from being active at all the rest of the day. Increase your NEAT calories instead by walking more, climbing stairs, choosing active hobbies, etc.
.
BREAK OUT OF YOUR WORKOUT COMFORT ZONE:
After a certain point, doing the same exercises for the same rep counts with the same weights will not work anymore. That is why it’s smarter to prioritize strength training and progressive overload versus cardio and HIIT. Cardio is a helpful way to slightly increase calorie burn. But when your diet is on point, you don’t have to work nearly as hard.👊🏼
