1 month in my cutting & I’ve started to incorporate a circuit cardio after my weights. Today was skipping rope, then medicine ball jump lunges then burpees to pull ups (not in video). Only went for 3 sets as I was so tired after 1.5hrs on weights ... You see, it's been 6 or 7 years I've been diagnosed with a skin condition: the Papulopustular rosacea. Nasty right? Before that time, I never had any skin issues. At first, I thought it was because of the food I eat but after many experiments (no oil, no dairy, etc) I went to the dermatologist. It's not that severe for now (I will not show you a gross picture 😂😂😂) but I've noticed it's getting worse with age. There are days when my skin is "perfect" and there are the other days when my face starts being all red and full of bumps. It really affects my confidence to the point I don't want to see anyone. Today is one of those "bad days". Heat, stress, sweat and sun are my enemies since they trigger the rosacea. When I do cardio or when it's too hot, I know for sure that the day after, I'll look like a pizza. Living on a tropical island doesn't help either but I will not complain about that since I'm living in paradise. There's no real medical treatment (well in my country), I just have to live and deal with it.
Today, I can see that the "break out" is more serious than some other days. It pisses me off but I just have to wait for it to go away (24h hours).
You may think that this is nothing, it is just an aesthetic issue, I can still go out and see people, do my sports and just live... I could but... no... I'm too concerned about my rosacea.
BUT thank goodness Big "breakouts" doesn't happen frequently 😂😂😂and there are bigger problems in the world. Thanks for reading me and big props to people who have bigger problems than this and are still killin' it

Well, just to be clear, I LOVE going to the gym! It is not about looking good. Sure, the look and the results come along with all the struggle I am making every day. But it is mostly because of the feeling.
I ❤ to lift heavy weights! I ❤ to do a really sweaty cardio seassion! It is something that makes me happy, something that puts a smile on my face when I am done. Of course, there are days that I don't even feel going to the gym. I am only a human being as well. BUT! I get my ass over there and in a second I open that gym door, I do not regret! It makes me feel alive, makes me feel good in my own skin. And even if I didn't feel like going there, I do a killer workout as this is so me- I always give everything I have out of me in the gym. I love that burning feeling in the muscle and when I am there I always forget about the time. At the end of workout I check the watch on my wrist and I am shocked again- 1h and a half of lifting weights, fuck I did that again. 🙄 I forgot about the time as I am enjoying it so much!
This fitness lifestyle it is not something you HAVE to do, but is is something you WANT to do. 💪
Always remember: doing something that you hate, is stress. But, doing something that you love, is passion. 🤗🙈💣

•Lift too heavy

•Have acne on their backs
•They live unhealthy lifestyles
•They sell diet plans/fitness routines
•They hang with steroid users

Typically if someone is shredded and huge but does most of the things on the above list, odds are pretty good they’re juicing.

•Cardio, this is a biggy if they’re lean as hell but their cardio “routine” is grandma walking the stair master it wouldn’t be possible for them to be lean

Now I know the obvious counter argument would be “But you burn more calories doing continuous cardio than lifting weights.” The affects of a good weightlifting session will last long after the session is complete. The more muscle you build the more calories you burn. Instead of replacing your weightlifting sessions with cardio just remember the long term affects of weightlifting.

But one day I said yes. One day I made the decision to try something new. I’m not going to tell you I liked it, but I kept going. About 3 months in, the results really started to come. People were asking me what I was doing to see the results that I was. I enjoyed helping these people. I grew a passion for it and knew from that, that personal training was something I wanted to get into. .

Here’s the thing... those people/fitness models that you are admiring... they aren’t doing what you think they’re doing. They are restricting their food consumption. Adding 50 additional reps to their working set. They show up and are putting in the work. 🔸
If you want to build a physique that you are proud of you are going to have to work hard in and out of the gym. You are going to move those weights that intimidate you. You are going to have to dig deep. You’re going to have to deal with the muscle soreness and other aches. 🔸
Guess what? You’ll love it. Because that’s when you will see improvement. Those hardships will be part of the game. You will eventually look forward to your “therapy” session because you know at the end of that gym session you walk out a little bit stronger, physically and mentally. It gets you closer to your goal. 🔸
End result: don’t be afraid to move those weights that intimidate you. Don’t be afraid to sweat. Lift heavier than you are. This week I challenge you to try a new exercise in the gym. 💦You do NOT have to go crazy with cardio to get your heart rate up and to sweat. Lift heavy and you will be dripping trust me.
🙋🏻‍♀️It can be done in 4 days per week with shorter workouts IF you are doing the right things to continue seeing results.
💪🏻I am A LOT stronger than I thought I was. When I first started going to the gym and lifting weights I would pick up 5s and 8s to do a lot of these same exercises, and now I’m able to lift 20s and 25s (in each hand 🖐🏻) which is a huge non scale victory for me.
🍩A cheat day is nice for flexibility but I found when I did have a treat, I wanted more, and that’s not good. I definitely believe in balance but I still struggle with nutrition daily. It was almost better when I had to stay away.
👯‍♀️I am SO proud of my boot campers who completed the program with me today. They all worked SO hard and stuck with me for the entire 8 weeks. This program is doable and I had more people stick it out and complete the program than ever before!!

Finished off with some hanging leg raises and 20 min of moderate incline walking. .

For the most past, I do two cardiovascular conditioning based workouts each week. One day is more aerobically based, and one day is more anaerobically based. Sometimes I do post lift cardio of 20 to 30 minutes of moderate incline walking… nothing too crazy. Just trying to burn a few extra calories and work up a sweat! Not going crazy on the cardio right now, but I am doing more than some people might do in an off-season. I am still growing muscle and making progress in the gym, and I truly believe that cardio enhances this process and also keeps me feeling good too! If you have a coach that’s telling you to not do any cardio in an off-season, I don’t necessarily believe in that! I think adding a little bit of cardio into your routine is always a good thing… You’re not gonna lose a shit ton of muscle by doing a couple of 20-30 min cardio sessions per week🤯😱 Just sayinnn💁🏼‍♀️😘

EQUIPMENT: Dumbbells

TYPE: Isolation

Execution

INITIAL POSITION: Seated on a bench with your back flat on the vertical support, hold the two dumbbells with a hammer grip and fully extend your arms.

MOVEMENT: The execution can be done lifting both arms or alternating them.

Raise the dumbbell towards your shoulderWhen your forearm and elbow form a 90 degrees angle, rotate your wrist to the outside (till your palms face up) and continue the movementTry to squeeze your bicep when you reach the top position and slowly return to the initial position, rotating your wrist again (hammer grip)Repeat with the other arm unless your decided to lift both dumbbells together

BREATHING: Exhale during the active phase of the exercise (when you raise the weight) and inhale during the negative phase.

TIPS and ERRORS: I specifically said to use a bench with back support to avoid helping the movement by bending your back. Many do this exercise by seating on a flat bench but they increase the risk of arching their back or bending.

Others swing their body to be able to perform the exercise with heavier weights. The correct form is more important than the weights you lift!

Did a 15 min incline walk post-lift as well - I get a ton of questions about cardio and although I’ve addressed it several times, I’m an open book and always happy to answer any q’s. Also I know I have some new peeps here, so HI! I like to get in my cardio after my lifts if I have time with a brief incline walk. Nothing crazy, I’ll often have some thinking time or answer emails while I’m doing so! Anyways, let’s sweat 💦

I’ve had an imbalance in my legs for a while, last year they differed in size by an inch (every inch counts...) and I’m down to about 1/8 inch difference. Unilateral training can help balance out struggling and weaker body parts as well as increase mobility and help solidify proper recruitment patterns. Changing how you train also allows for new adaptations which can result in more muscle growth. In the past 4 weeks of adding unilateral leg training my split squat has gone from a 40lb dumbbell to now using a 95. Adding 45lbs to one lift in a month is almost close to impossible, adding 45lbs to your squat or deadlift in one month?? That would be tremendous! Meanwhile I’ve had some back issues recently which has prevented me from squatting, deadlifting, or hitting any stiff legged deadlifts or rows. Using split squats has allowed my legs to continue to grow without heavy squats, now when I get back to my regularly scheduled heavy training I should be right where I left off! Also, since I can guarantee no ones read this far, I’m working on starting a YouTube channel, gonna be filming at least 5 videos before I start putting out content so in a week everything should be rolling . •

However, the last 6 months to a year I’ve had a negative attitude towards the gym. I’m there all day between cardio, weight training and personal training my lovely ladies (clients). I had gotten to a point where I didn’t even want to be there. I had no motivation. I no longer looked forward to training. Why? Too much pressure on myself. I’d get frustrated when I didn’t see results I wanted. I was mad when I couldn’t lift as heavy as I wanted. I was doing two a days to get ready for my wedding. No PRS...no physical changes(that body dysmorphia again)... no motivation. .

@syattfitness mentioned in his video that so many people love the gym. It’s their stress reliever. It’s their place to lift heavy, get a sweat, feel powerful, forget about problems... amongst many other positive things. But people forget that when the pressure sets in. I had forgotten that. I looked at workouts as a chore rather than what I love to do. I had to redirect my negative self talk. Instead of looking at weight training like something I wanted to just “get over with” I was excited to lift. I’ve been unable to workout for a while so now that I can, it’s time to reflect on why this lifestyle is so important to me. .

Again (for the 103682 time), I put a lot of blame on our current idea of fitness due to social media. I’m constantly feeling pressure to look like a bikini competitor. I’m constantly thinking about what I can post to keep people interested in my page (but really who cares). I’m constantly worried what other people might think of me since I’m not 5% body fat. BUT today I said F all of those. I wanted to just lift. Lift because it makes me feel good. It makes me feel strong. I love that I forget about everything else going on in my life for that hour. I just get to focus on me, each set- each rep. I love the sweat and the struggle of pushing out 1 more rep. The gym really is my happy place, and if that’s lame, I don’t care.
