As the @theopen at Carnoustie enters the last round, I found myself reflecting on the 1975 Open. Same course, different time, different players.
.
Newton v Watson
.
After breaking the course record in the 3rd round of the British Open with a 65 (course record until recently), Dad found himself one behind Bobby Cole heading into the last round.
.
At the end of 72 hole he was tied with Tom Watson, so it went to a play-off in the rain on Sunday. They battled it out over an additional tight 18 holes, but the 25-year-old Watson went on to win 71-72. They were tied playing the last but Dad bunkered his approach and couldn't make 18 foot putt - losing to Watson.
.
It was the last 18-hole play-off in The Open and Watson would go on to win another 4 British Open titles.
.
The difference between victory and defeat can come down to the narrowest of margins, but ultimately the margins will not define your level of impact. However, what you do next and how you respond most certainly will.
.
There is no doubt, things would have been different for Dad, Mum, our family if that result went the other way 43yrs ago, but he doesn't get sentimental and hasn't let it stop him from having an almighty impact on the world.
.
Life has a funny way of working itself out and right now, looking through my lens, he may have lost that day, but we've won more than I could have ever imagine. #theopen #1975 #family #proud #fashion #style

Big thank you to Sgt James for my awesome vintage-inspired bathing suit! 😍
I come from a military family so it means a lot to me to say thank you to those who dedicate their lives for us. The 4th of July has passed, but it got me thinking about being an American and a descendant of immigrants. My dad was born on a military base in Seoul, South Korea to an American military man and my beloved Korean grandma. Just a fun fact about me, I'm 1/4 Korean! My family's immigration story is important to me. And how it is tied to the military makes it historically interesting. We all came from somewhere, and we are all humans on this tiny rock. All that being said, be amazing to one another. Let's take care of eachother ❤❤❤

After being told I would need major invasive surgery on my knee due to basketball injuries from almost 6 years ago was a little shocking. Yesterday, I was terrified. In the midst of nurses and surgeons asking me questions for the prep, I started to have something I had never truly had before until that moment. I couldn't breath, and I kept thinking I was going to die or become paralyzed from the spinal epidural. All of these we irrational of course, but I got an extreme sense of what intense anxiety feels like. After sedating me before the spinal so I wouldn't be so afraid, they went ahead with the surgery and I woke up the last 10 minutes of the surgery. In the first seconds came more fear because I couldn't lift my arms due to the fact that they had tied them down. And at first this had confused me, because I thought the surgery hadn't happened yet since it felt like they had just given me the spinal... but I had been in surgery for an hour and a half. It was weird to lift my head and look down at my knee and see it open the way it was as they sewed it up. I wasn't afraid, but maybe a little grossed out. After surgery the amazingly kind Nurse Andrea took care of me and made sure I was ready to go when my dad picked me up. I just want to say a huge thank you to friends and family who supported me for this event, thank you to Panam Clinic and Dr. Peter MacDonald for performing this surgery and Andrea and the other team of nurses who made me feel welcome and so comfortable. Next step is lots of bed rest, feeling sick for hours when I take T3s, stupidly painful exercises and 3-4 months of recovery. Wish me luck, and if you can, please come visit me. I'm gonna be in a bed for 3 weeks :/ Yaaaaaaay lol

I hit a rock coming down a hill and flipped over the handlebars. My helmet flew off and I hit my head/face on the ground. I laid on the ground for a while not moving or saying anything. I was in shock and then it finally hit me that I had wrecked and I was defiantly hurt. My dad was right behind me and had to wreck his bike so he didn't hit me. Several racers stopped and asked if I was okay while I was waiting for people to come back through the woods to get me. They put me on a stretcher and put me in the back of a ranger. I was in a rocky creek bed and every bump made me feel worst. I was loaded into an ambulance then later into a helicopter where I was life lined to U of L hospital. I am extremely thankful for all of the Ixcr staff, volunteer medics, and doctors for helping me but most importantly my friends and family for being with me through it all. Thanks to all of the racers and their families for checking on me and thanks for all of the prayers. I am lucky to have walked away with only bruising and swelling. I am really disappointed that I didn't get to finish the race. I was tied for first in my class. This accident scared me but I will never give up racing. I can't wait for the next race🤘🏼😝

There were countless Halloweens that I couldn't stay there for fear my brother would dress up as Freddy Krueger and make it impossible for me to fall asleep. I remember the time my parents tied a huge bow around a brand new car and parked it in the garage (I couldn't drive it since it was a stick shift, but it was really cute). Megan, Jaimee and I would stay awake laughing so hard that my parents would knock on my bedroom wall to be quiet as they had to go to work the next day. One morning we laid there while they danced to "Who Let the Dogs Out." I was mortified, but also laughed at them. They would do anything for our happiness. I had my first love and first heartbreak in my bedroom at this house. My dad married Pam there and brought me a family I had always prayed for. I have a sister and 2 nieces that I would die for. Thank you to our first responders for saving this house. Not everyone got off so lucky, but we did. We stand by you, respect you and thank you for all you do. We're here for your families and friends who selflessly give you to us and our needs. We are one.. Thank you!

I wanted to take a break from homework to let you guys know a little bit about myself! It’s random, but that’s definitely a big part of me. Here are some facts that some of you may not know:
1. I am technically an only child, but the oldest of 8 total siblings. I only have a relationship with 5 of them, though, unfortunately. Mixed with half and step, but I consider them all full. I love my huge blended family.
2. I lived in Colorado for about 6 months for my Dad’s job at the time, but I was too young to really remember. We moved back because my Papaw got colon cancer. He is fine, by the way! ❤️
3. Before I fell in love with health and fitness, I used to want to be either a Veterinarian or be a part of the FBI/CIA. Complete opposite ends of the spectrum, I know. 😅
4. I have never been out of the country, but I have traveled a lot. Dallas to New Orleans to Washington D.C. to New York To Nashville to Myrtle Beach to Branson to Gulf Shores to Orlando. College has me tied down now, but I hope I am able to visit more places and maybe one day see Greece and Italy. 😍
5. My dream car would be a late 60s muscle car like a Mustang or GTO. I love fast cars. A Lamborghini or McLaren would also be really nice to have. 😩
6. My favorite movies are action and comedy. I could quote Tropic Thunder, Tommy Boy, and anything with Adam Sandler or Will Ferrel. I have seen all the Fast and Furious movies, Transformers, Jason Bourne movies, 300, Gladiator, Taken, Superhero movies; Y’all get the point. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Social media is huge, and I’d like to connect on a more personal level with whoever is even paying attention. I usually keep to myself, but I adore new people. I hope all of you have a blessed Friday, tomorrow, and an amazing weekend. 🤗

So, great news - Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have tied the knot in a keenly-followed royal wedding yesterday, May, 19 2018 .

The gorgeous 36-year-old actress and the Queen of England's grandson married at the magnificent St. George’s Cathedral in Windsor castle as the world watched on in excitement for the biracial couple – Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, who couldn’t make the wedding, is white and her mum, Doria Ragland, is black .

One of the obvious things since the Prince and American actress’ engagement in November 2017 is that Meghan will join the British royal family and will be the only person of colour, prompting further curiosity as to whether she’d be the first ever black or mixed-race member of the royal family in England .

The answer to which is a surprising NO according to many historians. There was black British royalty before Meghan. They say Sophie Charlotte was England's first black queen .

In the 1700s, Sophie Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz in Germany married George III who ruled England from 1760 to 1820 and she became the first-ever person of color in the throne .

Sophie Charlotte is actually direct descendant of Portuguese royalty, Margarita de Castro y Sousa, who was of African descent

I don’t really have too many pictures of the three of us but now that I look closer, I definitely see three generations of my mother in this picture (and one super husband/dad). As my first #mothersday this year, I put it quite plainly: having #BabyRye has for obvious reasons changed everything; all the bullshit and things that used to get me agro now fade to the background. I was texting my mom from New Zealand this morning and she said this, “now that you are a mother you can truly feel how I feel.” Mom, I know all you have done and continue to give to me and @ianmwong0710 . We will always love you and be grateful for bringing us into this world and raising us the best way you knew how. And now more than ever I understand the emotions tied to even the smallest of decisions when it comes to your family and children. Thank you for being my rock, my inspiration, my role model, and most importantly, my mom. I love you mommy. I can only hope I’ve learned enough from you along the way to help in my new role of a lifetime, because at the end of the day, I have finally learned, “you are right” (at least 70% of the time, which are good odds). Love you Mom! #HappyMothersDay

Storing bottles, soothers, washing clothes and putting them away takes up about 30% of my day...but no complaints. Also yes, for those curious, we mix feed Riley with breast milk and formula. I have zero shame, guilt or regrets about this. She gets to bond with me and her dad when feeding and I'm not tied to a machine or my baby every day, which was part of our plan to help her have healthy attachment to her parents and caregivers and give me the time I want to myself. She's happy, healthy and thriving on this system. I'm sleeping, she's fed and we feel this plan works best for us. While this decision is very much up to each family, what is most important is to feel empowered to choose what's right for you and don't let anyone guilt or shame you into one feeding style or another. Of course there are benefits to breastfeeding, but that doesn't mean you need to emotinally suffer if you can't or don't want to do it. I share this because I know too many women who have suffered with this choice and if breastfeeding doesn't come easily or isn't suitable to your needs, there are wonderful alternatives. .

Through the years, I somehow lost track of it...so when @mejuri sent along this beautiful gold vermeil locket, I may have been a little more than eager to accept, as the little girl in me beamed at the idea of having a locket again. I was even able to put an engraving inside, in which I chose the letter B...my favorite. The B is for Broderick, my namesake, connecting me to my dad who passed away when I was just 9 years old. I love having this little sentiment tied around my neck as a sweet reminder, and a way to keep a piece of my family name, even one day when I may no longer carry it. ✨

There is no way to separate crabs from my family. One of my favorite memories of my mother and her mother was the afternoon they argued endlessly over what was the best liquid to saute a soft shell crab in, vodka or vermouth. My sisters and I fished for soft shells at the dock of the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach, Delaware, my dad’s friend’s bar. We stole maraschino cherries and tied them to our shoestrings. Those bottom feeders ate up the formaldehyde.
My first lesson about interacting with food was when a family friend brought live crabs to our house to cook. My sister Molli named one Fred, playing with it as much as anyone can play with a crab. As dinnertime commenced, the crabs were cleaned by the friend. Molli expressed some distress at the loss of Fred. The friend lightly dredged the crab in flour and tossed it in some bubbling butter, glancing over at my sister. “Don’t make friends with dinner.”

In three religions that are tied to Abraham; Judaism, Christianity and Islam all share the story of the sacrifice. Abraham was instructed by God to sacrifice his son as a test of faith and as he was about to do it God spared him as he found that his son was replaced with a ram instead. This is the second Eid in Islamic practice and more important one because of its significance. The other Eid is celebrated after Ramadan which happened earlier this year. The animal is slaughtered and divided in three parts. One part is given to the poor, one part to family and neighbors or friends and one part is kept for self or immediate family. Each country that celebrates Eid also has its own way of referring to it. This is because language and culture dictate how we expand our lifestyles. In Balkan region we refer to Eid al Adha as Kurban Bajram. Kurban meaning sacrifice and Bajram meaning holiday. Words derive from Persian Urdu and Turkish and as the history shows my culture is heavily influenced by it. During Hajj, pilgrims take pebbles and throw them at the pillars as commemoration of rejection of shaitan as he persuaded Abraham not to sacrifice his son on the mount Arafat. I used to go early in the morning with my dad (rahmetli) to make Eid prayers and then visit cemetery to pray for our dead. Later on we gather with large family as my mother would have feast ready for an all day celebration. When my son was born I slaughtered two lamb and spread the meat three ways as well.

Yup. Happiness for me isn’t found in an ice cream cone or custard...well maybe some days 🤣. Happiness for me is directly aligned with PURPOSE.
My PURPOSE is to guide others to dream bigger and create TIME and ECONOMIC freedom in their lives so they have the ability to CHOOSE ...how, what, when, where... My purpose is to create more “Full-Time Families”. My purpose is to help mom’s and dad’s who feel “tied down”to a 9-5 or on the flip-side not knowing how to contribute economically to their household without having to sacrifice raising their family and being present.
My purpose is to guide. Help. Create. Dream with. Show. Coach. Mentor.... all of the amazing gifts @isagenix has gifted to our growing family 🤰👧🧔🏻. Everyday I wake up and say out loud “thank you” for allowing me to build a health business from my HOME while at the same time tend to my families needs and create an abundant economy that only continues to grow with each and every person who links arms with me.
Soon I’ll tell you the story of a famous hairdresser who was exhausted of being tied down to his chair and not having time for his family or hobbies and hardly making ends meat....I’ll tell you how he saw the opportunity with #isagenix And me as his guide and earned over 2200€ in his very first month “part time” sharing with others. My PURPOSE.
Then I’ll tell you about an engineer who sacrificed her career to raise her 2 young daughters, only to find herself “null and void” and “wife to, mother of, daughter of...no longer “ME”. In 6 short weeks aligning with us and being open to my coaching has earned over 2500€ (euros) is the current top position in Spain, has re-found her “ME” and has found her sense of PURPOSE.
Helping others find their sense of PURPOSE IS MY PURPOSE.
This gift is never lost on me. I never take it for granted. I thank GOD today and everyday for showing me the way and for putting these people, this company and this opportunity in my path.

Positive thinking leads to positive changes ✨

We have some big news! I'm beyond excited to share that we'll be returning to Chattanooga, TN (my hometown) very soon 🙏🏼 I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to start this next chapter in my life in a town that is so close to my heart and where I'll be close to family.
It is bittersweet, I have made some INCREDIBLE friends where I live now, but I know this move is what's best for myself and most importantly for Maya.

This past year has been full of SO many big changes, both in my life and my mindset about life. I've gone from being married, stay at home mom to a working, single mom. I'm about to move away from the city that has been home for 8 years and the house that was bought as a family, and back to the town where my heart and family are. I wasn't sure whether I was going to be able to even make this move, and thought maybe I'd end up being geographically tied to wherever Maya's dad is, but we reached an agreement and it's all going to work out 🙌🏼 I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. This is not the end for me, it's the beginning of a new life with endless possibilities ahead.
Love to you all xoxo

I don’t have one single good memory of my parents together, I’m sure some good things happened but bad things stain. It got worse after they separated. I watched my mum cop a lot of shit, no financial support, I witnessed & overheard extremely negative things. From the age of 13 I started drinking & taking drugs, 14 I was searching for belonging in the bodies of men. I was co dependent, afraid of abandonment & emotionally fractured. I learnt to believe love was measured by the amount of pain it inflicted. Dad told me love should be red like fire, his actions confirmed this. It has taken me a fucking long time to dismantle my unhealthy love habits. • She doesn’t need to know what I have seen or experienced until she is a woman with a solid sense of her own self. I am lucky the father of my child is equally dedicated to providing her with the same foundations I have committed to. We met as friends, we ended as friends. I understand not all single parents are so lucky and the only option is to walk away from toxicity. I understand & have eternal empathy for people who have had to make that choice for their family. What I refuse to accept is the way we are socialised to normalise animosity when intimacy ends whether there’s significant trauma or not. It is my opinion that this is inherently tied to toxic monogamy culture & the caging relationship we have between love and sex. How boys in particular are socialised into the Madonna Whore complex which upholds a heirarchy of respect based on who they are/want to be intimate with. How we are all socialised to be jealous, insecure and egoic in & out of relationship. Animosity between exes is more normalised than remaining friends & that is fucking sad • Regarding my co parenting relationship I have been called a liar, inauthentic & even told my daughter will be confused because her dad & I are still friends (cont in comments) 📷 @newearth.mama

Earlier tonight, I surprised my parents with their video from @joe_gatto. 🤗 I made a whole video and tied it in with his video to make it this cute little presentation! (I actually go on to explain why the 4 of them mean as much as they do to me.) I wanted to share their reaction!I’m really happy that I made their night a little brighter. 💕

My two favorite gifts from tonight had to be these: My mom actually ended up doing the same donation thing (@dmfmusic) for Joe that I had done, and I got a personalized holiday card from him! ❤️ I didn’t cry in front of my parents, but I’ll probably cry later (meaning, yes...I’ll cry). 😅😭 The second gift that I absolutely love is this shirt that says “I don’t need therapy, I just need to watch ‘Impractical Jokers’.” 1000% ACCURATE, FOLKS. They are truly my therapy (I’m currently watching their Christmas Eve marathon as we speak). I just want to thank Joe for taking the time to do things like this. My parents reaction seeing you was purely out of love because as much as I watch the show...they do love you guys. My dad said it himself, you’re his favorite! ❤️ My holiday card from you will be going into a frame because you truly mean the world to me. You are one of my favorite humans and you’ve helped me get through so much shit it’s not even funny. Thank you for reminding me how to laugh, and thank you for bringing some happiness into my life when I’ve needed it most. The saying “Not all heroes wear capes.” is beyond accurate when it comes to you.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.🎄❤️ Love you bunches!

Can’t wait for the million of adventures this bus will take these crazies on! As a family we dreamt of having the time freedom and the financial freedom to travel and do life! That is one of the reasons why we love homeschooling so much! We can do school and life anywhere we want and I believe it will give our kiddos such a rich learning experience! Tim left his job about 5 months ago and now gets to work freelance on website jobs he wants to do but isn’t tied to a 60 hr a week job which is the best thing ever! He is such a present and fun dad and I’m so happy the kids get to be around him so much more! Three years ago I decided to start a second career sharing my love of oils and natural health on top of having our bakery @sweetnsaucyshop and those days and nights were long but I knew what kind of life I wanted and it pushed me through the long nights. The path to get here wasn’t easy at all! We have made tons of sacrifices, had to make some big changes and giant leaps of faith along with hours and hours of hard work but it’s SO worth it! I can’t imagine the feeling of driving away on our first trip in June the 🚌 and being able to do adventure, work and school all within these walls! Jacob: “I was living with a friend during the flooding in Baton Rouge and we were on safe ground, but a lot of my dad's side of the family was wiped out. A lot of people came to town and helped them, from re-building to bringing meals and all that. The support was endless and lots of people came from New Orleans. I've been loving Brandon's art and his movement for a long time, and now we are finally able to do something right and create positivity after these tragedies.”
Brandan: “New Orleans and Baton Rouge are right next to each other, so whatever happens in one city impacts the other. The thought was, how can we collaborate with our shared experiences? I was attracted to the opportunity to collaborate with Jacob, and to highlight and refocus attention to the beauty of just surviving. That's something I've been exploring in New Orleans for a long time. You know, art is a form of therapy, and for me, one of the most beautiful things about both tragedies – Katrina and the flooding in Baton Rouge – is that the culture is what made us resilient and made us able to cope. Whether it be through painting, through music, through poetry – these are ways that you process the trauma and cope with it. And that's tied into survival. I'm always looking for ways to use art to explore and process that, so I thought it made sense to do this, to collaborate with a Baton Rouge artist, and to articulate to the world that we are surviving. We're going to keep surviving. We are still here.”

It's that special day to celebrate that special figure in your life who is there to support you unconditionally. There are all types of dads in the world, but there is a really special one, one that isn't biologically tied to their child, but one that is emotionally tied to them. This is a strong sentiment, a bond that is deeper than anything because this individual chose to father and be a dad to someone that is not related by blood, but one that he chooses to raise. Today Jose and I get to wish Antonio a happy first Father’s Day. Despite the obstacles and frustration–out of dedication and a sense of duty, you are among the world’s most frequently overlooked unsung heroes. Through ally that Jose has been through ,surgeries and cancer, it’s such a blessing to know he has one extra person to be strong when I am weak. Thank you for taking on such a significant role of being Jose’s guy. Thank you isn’t a enough for what you do ❤️

In my family, my mom and her sisters used to take turns hosting a holiday. My mom’s holiday used to be Easter. My Aunt Liz and her family used to drive down from Connecticut the day before. She would always bring egg dying kits and my cousins and I spent the night dying eggs for our annual egg hunt the next morning.
.
One year a kit included packets of puffy paint. This allowed us to create the Elvis egg. The Elvis egg was the win all for the hunt the following morning. Alex, Matt, and I were all tied during the egg hunt. The only egg left was the Elvis egg. With the thanks of my dad’s shifty eyes I was able to procure victory that year.
.
.
No, it wasn’t cheating. It’s using your observation skills to know when a hint is being thrown at you.

Quinell, the dancer / choreographer is now a stay at home mommy crafter? Yea....pretty much. This is the LAST thing I saw myself doing but we all know that God works in mysterious ways.
A little about my story. I came from a predominately single parent home (as do many African Americans in this country). I have a mother who worked as hard as she could to provide me with opportunities, and a dad that was also there and would give his last $1 just to see me happy. Even with good intention my family still didn't crack the code to financial success. I didn't have a financially sound upbringing and that is why I work as hard as I do today to bring structure, financial balance, and a healthy dynamic to the family that the Lord has entrusted me with. I create businesses because I want to be a present parent that is there for his children, wife, and family while building a business that will help my family thrive without being tied down by a 9 to 5.
Since starting this business I have had opportunities, I would have never seen if I didn't just take the dive and START. As I expand and grow my business I thought of a unique way to do that without being inside 4 walls. I am currently launching my very own mobile embroidery business. Where I bring creativity TO YOU! I am taking a 1968' trailer and converting it into a unique mobile embroidery experience.

You are receiving this message because I want to give you the opportunity to partner with me on this project and help me bring this dream of mine to life. Even if you are in a situation where you cant financially back me, I would LOVE if you could share this post, like it, and comment below.

Animal control was told the family that brought them in returned from vacation this afternoon to find the mother and probable father tied to their porch with 4 puppies. One puppy had passed away. Momma is so emaciated and weak that she can barely stand. She has no milk and honestly we are not sure how her 3 remaining pups have survived. All are dehydrated and extremely hungry and thirsty. The father is a little thin but in good shape otherwise. Tyson’s has rushed mom and pups to safety and started supportive care. We will make sure dad finds a great home also, his health is ok and he is currently still at the shelter being cared for. Donations are needed to help with this family. We will update soon. #puppies #momma #family #adopt #rescuepuppies #cutepuppies #puppiesofinstagram #mommadog #spayandneuter #thisistysonschance #helpushelpthem #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedog #babyangels

.
A 22-year-old man named Abdul Baqi, who belonged to a religious and conservative family, has suffered torture at the hands of his father and brothers in Pakistan.
.
.
The reason? He decided to marry out of the family. Baqi hailed from the Loralai district of Balochistan, while the girl he wanted to marry, belonged to Loralai’s long reigning rival, Duki district. .
.
In the past, people of both the places have lingered enmity between them. Baqi’s father, upon finding out that he wanted to marry the girl of his choice, taught him a lesson. .
.
Baqi’s eyes were gouged out by his own family so that he gets blind and cannot marry of his own will. “The man has lost both his eyes,” a police official from the area informed different news teams. .
.
“They [father and brothers] locked my mother in another room and tied me up with a rope. Then they gouged my eyes out with a spoon and chopped them to pieces with a knife,” said Abdul Baqi
.
.
“I liked a girl from Duki. My father and brothers were not happy with my choice. They often used to tell me that they will never allow me to marry a girl who keeps chatting on the mobile phone with me. .
.
They told me that they were ‘mullas’ (religious men) and cannot bear such a relation.”
.
.
After being transferred to a specialist hospital in Karachi, doctors confirmed he will never be able to see again. The incident has been reported to police, and his father and two of the brothers have been arrested. Two remaining brothers are still on the run.

5 FUN FACTS ABOUT BEN’S PARENTING ⠀

1️⃣ He loves babies! We used to fight over who got to hold the baby first. 👶 ⠀

2️⃣ He enters the room snapping when he’s attempting to correct the boys, before he sees anything. The other night he was snapping in his sleep so.... 😳😳😳⠀

3️⃣ Ben can keep his voice in total monotone all while saying, “Please take the Band-Aid off your head while you’re doing your homework”, “Do not punch your brother in the crotch as hard as you can”, “Please don’t play with Bear’s privates.” 🐻⠀

4️⃣ Ben got up with each child during the night without me asking. It was easier for him to go back to sleep so I didn’t fight it. #hero 💤 ⠀

5️⃣ He would have had more children. The very reason my tubes are cut, tied & burned. He gets man colds & baby fevers. 😉 ⠀

💙HAPPY DAD’S Day @bencunnington!! You are the greatest Dad, I know.

I take a break from my usual outdoor photos for a Truth Moment: Valentine's Day the past few years has unfortunately been tied to some very hurtful memories for me. So this year, in my continued effort to free myself from recurring bitterness caused by past relationships, I wanted to form a new memory- a memory I am proud of. A memory I can look back on and smile about. Over the past few months, there has been a perpetual tugging at my heart to be more giving of my time and money. I have sat on that feeling for a while looking for the right opportunities to invest in others on a deeper level. Then recently one came to me over the radio.
.
Quick back story: After his retirement from the US Army, my grandfather on my Dad's side was heavily involved in the sponsorship of Cambodian refugees coming to America. I was a freshman in high school when several of these young men came to visit our family. I had the privilege of meeting them face to face, hearing their salvation stories and ultimately how my Grandpa helped changed the course of their lives. He was/is the bright, shining beacon in my life of "...whatever you have done for the least of these, you have done for me..." (Mathew 25:40) so when I began to consider sponsoring a child, I knew I wanted to honor his memory in some way.
.
Cut to this sweet little girl. Her name is Irene- she is 4 and lives in Uganda with her grandmother. She was born on the 10th anniversary of my grandpa's passing and there was just something about this face I couldn't get out of my head the moment I laid eyes on her. So on February 14th, I became her sponsor through @compassion and today, my packet of information on her arrived in the mail. I am so in love with her and her family already and I cannot WAIT to shower her with love and blessings as she grows!! #spreadlove #compassioninternational

"uh. couples who argue in public amuse me and uh, i like to share it on social media. you gotta believe me. here look at my FB." 😐
hubs: maybe we can get them some food togo before boarding. wanna do that?
wife: i'm carrying your #child at the moment, maybe you could have fed them this morning, or is that just my job?
hubs: we'll just get them something on the plane.
wife: sure. let's have them starve another hour.
hubs: then let's just go grab something.
wife: *piercing eye contact. teeth clenched. tone raised.* you feed them from now on!
hubs: 😐 ok.

me to myself: picture #perfect but walking on eggshells for the rest of his #married life. i'm happier than he is fo shizzle. do i have any #happilymarried friends? hmmm. Jack and Jill seem happy. yeah... no. they're good at charades. the prettier they are... the more vicious... like the #hotcrazy scale. 🤔 count your blessings. *cold flash* 😐 that was thoroughly sobering and entertaining. 🙂 #termtherapy
