Repost from @pharoahkafele1 using @RepostRegramApp - Regrann from @nathan11.11 - Whole Foods Market is now reversing five years of promises to consumers by suspending its #GMOlabeling promise. This means @wholefoods  will continue to sell unlabeled #GMOs while fraudulently insinuating to customers that its stores sell no GMOs whatsoever.

Back in 2012, when #WholeFoods was desperately trying to quell customer concerns over #geneticallyengineered ingredients found in thousands of grocery items sold at #WholeFoodsMarket stores, Natural News released undercover video from the “Organic Spies,” exposing how Whole Foods deliberately trained its employees to lie to customers about GMOs. With other groups like the #OrganicConsumersAssociation joining the effort to expose Whole Foods’ GMO deceptions, the grassroots outcry against Whole Foods was rapidly expanding, and the retailer scrambled to get in front of the GMO labeling issue to try to comfort customers.

Whole Foods is pulling back on its plan to require GMO labeling for all foods in stores by September,” Ag Web reported earlier this week. The article references a new “weasel letter” sent to suppliers to Whole Foods, describing how the #food retailer is quietly trying to weasel out of its commitment to its customers. “As the #USDA finalizes the federal regulation in the coming months and the food industry assesses the impact, we do not want our policy to pose further challenges for you and your businesses,” the letter stated, as reported by Ag Web. That same letter promises “further updates and timelines” but clearly betrays the 2013 announcement of “full transparency” from Whole Foods.

In just five years, in other words, Whole Foods has gone from “full transparency” to “we’ll let the USDA / #Monsanto cabal tell us what to do.” This is no surprise, given that in 2016, Whole Foods was caught lying to its own customers about its strong support for the Monsanto-pushed GMO “fake labeling bill” in the U.S. Senate. Whole Foods, in other words, has been cozying up to Monsanto for years.

My journey into natural products, and a fascination with how our skin works, started due to my own battle with chronic eczema in my late teens and early 20s. A swap to natural, plant based skincare was a major factor in healing my skin.

In my previous careers I have been a chef, holistic therapist, retail manager for natural skincare and a trainer in the natural products industry. I have spent the last 10 years working with some of the world’s leaders in natural and organic products, Neal’s Yard Remedies, UK and Whole Foods Market, UK and Canada. I am now thrilled to put all that I have learned into my own skincare range.

Born and raised in Oxford, England, I moved to Vancouver, BC in 2009 with my now husband, Charlie, for adventure and change. We now live in Squamish, BC, a lovely small community of active, mindful souls. It is here we have chosen to raise our two children, Alex and Poppy.

I want everyone to really understand the benefits of natural skincare and the negative impact some products can have on the health of our skin. Alongside my products I will endeavor to share my knowledge of this subject that I am so passionate about. ----- Repost from the lovely @jannickekitchen: “Meet Helena Lane owner of @helenalaneskincare, one of the most genuine women I’ve ever met." Special K. The ‘healthy’ cereal that ‘makes you slim’. There was a time a while ago where Kellogg’s created the special K diet for those looking to lose weight. ‘Drop a jeans size in 2 weeks’ I believe it was called...
-
-
The concept was that you would eat special K suggested cereal servings/special K protein bar for breakfast and lunch, followed by a ‘normal’ meal for dinner (so this could literally entail ANYTHING... aka HEAPS of calories). I talk in the past tense as this is surely no longer a thing... I hope 👀.
-
-
The thing is. Whilst consuming vermin sized portions of Special K will naturally create a calorie deficit, so does eating any food, as long as you consume less energy than you expend. -
-
Maybe Kelloggs should create the same diet with their coco pops? Because exactly the same results would be achieved (nutritionally they are basically equal). But it’s the power of marketing, words and human vulnerability which run true here. This results in many perceiving the product on the left as ‘good’ for losing weight, whilst most people believe the product on the right will be inherently ‘bad’ for weight loss. But the reality is that neither are good or bad for weight loss.
-
-
Weight loss can only occur if you are in a calorie deficit, regardless of food type. This example is indicative of MANY foods/products which market themselves as a food which makes you lose weight. It’s not the type of food that does the job, instead it’s the quantity of food. -
-
Sustainability is the key to weight loss. Chipping away at a small, gradual deficit is a good idea, as well as basing your diet on Whole Foods with actual nutritional value - because I’m guessing you also want to feel healthy and perform 🙂🙋‍♂️. Which would you go for? Or would you avoid all together? I hope you’re enjoying your bank holiday!! 😎

Let that sink in. This stat has me like 😳🤦🏻‍♀️😡 We are home working hard cooking, cleaning, taxiing kids, keeping people alive and trying to stay sane. All the while, we're slowly killing ourselves with the toxins we've brought into our homes and the stress that we feel to measure up. Mamas, we have a seriously hard job and SO many choices to make! We are all just doing our best! I know it's easy to 🙄 the whole movement of living "clean" and eating organic, to take aim at the mama who goes to great lengths to avoid toxins and processed foods. She's crazy or paranoid or trying too hard. Hey, maybe you cheer her on but it just isn't your thing! There is no shame in this mama game however it is that you roll, but doing better for our kids needs to be all of our thing.
When they lower their standards for the products that can be sold, we have to raise the bar on educating ourselves and making informed choices! We have to know better and do better for ourselves and our kids.
In one study, over 800 of the nearly 3000 (tested) chemicals we find in our personal care products (that we rub all over ourselves and our kids every. darn. day.) were found to be toxic. This is an uphill battle! These chemicals are straight-up banned in other countries.
Here are just a handful of things these toxic chemicals may cause: + interrupt our hormone production
+ cause acute toxicity + cause biological mutations
+ skin and eye irritations
+ respiratory issues
+ cause cancer
Here are just a few places you'll find these things in your home: + household cleaners + shampoo, conditioner, baby wash + lotions and creams
+ sunscreen and bug spray + scented candles + make up

It's scary how normal it's become to slap buzz words like "clean" or "organic" or "natural" on toxic-soup products just to market them to mamas who are trying to do their best! "
