I don’t do a whole lot of glute training throughout the week. But when it’s comes to gaining strength & size to assist with my compound lifts, these are my staples. I’m know the my ladies already train their glutes multiple times a week so this post is for my fellas. I know most of you want that stronger squat and/or deadlift but neglect to train their glutes. One of the major components to moving more weight. If you’re a guy who is trying to get better at squats/deadlifts, add these two exercises to your current routine at least 1-2 times per week and I guarantee you that your lifts will improve dramatically. I like to perform them on the shrugs machine because you don’t have to worry about keeping Dumbbells or Barbell in a specific area to keep tension on your muscles. It’s similar to the smith machine. It can only go up and up therefore it’s a great tool to work on TUT(Time Under Tension). Also one thing I feel everyone can always get better at in the lock out for deadlifts. I struggled to lock out my 2nd Rep at 495lbs, therefore this movement will assist in become more explosive with that portion of the lift. Great movement to add into your routine if your trying to get better at deadlifts. If not just ignore this post and continue doing a ton of isolation movements. But doing movements such as this one will not only reduce the amount of exercises you can perform, it will also reduce the amount of time you spend in the gym. Time is money and we only get 24 hours in the day!!! Use it wisely!!! 💪🏽😎🙏🏽

2. Banded KB RDL. Squeezeeee the🍑 at the top! 20 reps 4 sets
3. Banded good mornings. I do them on the smith machine so I can go heavier! Heels down toes up! 10 reps 4 sets
4. Glute pushdowns on the pull up assist. Heels down toes up! 10 reps each foot 4 sets
5. Machine kickbacks. Push with your heel!! 10 reps each foot 4 sets. 🔥🙌🏼 __

I decided to switch up my routine from the usual bodybuilding style training and do some different movements to recruit different muscle fibres and shock the muscle.

Today was chest and shoulders:

10 sets of 12 push-ups, 1 min rest - when 12 reps couldn’t be done on my own, I used the band wrapped around the smith machine bar to assist in completing the set (as shown in the video)

Note: work on progressing to a prone push-up if you struggle with body-weight push-ups in the first place. Progression would be; wall push-ups, bench push-ups, prone on knee push-ups, full prone push-ups.
3 sets of 12 kettlebell snatches - no rest when switching arms

3 sets of 12 on a lateral raise machine

Finish with pyramid up to failure of 12 reps on a crunch machine. The focus here is to lengthen your torso as much as possible WITHOUT LETTING THE WEIGHT TOUCH THE STACK/STOPPER and begin the contraction from this point. You’re not trying to shove your head between your legs but rather bring your torso to roughly 45 degrees towards the floor - constant tension, no bs.

6 years ago we opened the doors to our very own studio after 4 years working out of Fenix Fitness in Mooroolbark (now Goodlife). Our space started out very small, we both had a lot less wrinkles, no idea of what laid ahead but we had the passion and determination to make it happen.

14 to 17 hour days were the norm, we worked tirelessly to build the Assist PT Community, our champions, our space grew through 3 renos and so have we, developing ourselves to be better coaches through further mentoring so that we could help develop others.
Among all the hard work there have been many many laughs, many tears, many rewards and many lessons learnt.
We followed our hearts and made our dreams come true because we wanted to offer our clients a safe space to train where we could provide a service that wasnt dictated by management or the 6pm influx of gym members that would interfere with the flow of our programs. Suddenly we could fit more into our sessions. For some this was more volume, for others it was more coaching, our clients results got better and we grew holistically.

We would like to thank everyone whos been involved in our journey so far, our friends, family, trainers, admin support, clients, mentors and all the wonderful practitioners that have helped keep our minds, bodies and spirits up and functioning so we can keep on giving.

One of the most important aspects people fail to grasp, is maintenance. What's it look like? How does someone do it?
Every fitness account, every fitness magazine or advertisement monetizes around the concept of fat loss or weight loss.

Humans are very habitual - it's a double edge sword.
We become so efficient in our routine, which is good..but we're easily "thrown" off when our routine is altered in any way.
Why that's important is because anyone involved in fat loss, gets embedded with the constant emphasis & routine habits of fat loss.
Low fat, low sugar, order the salad, request no oils or butters, sauce on the side, tips and tricks to reduce total calories, dietary hacks to assist with low calories...
That constant engrained thought process that low calorie = healthy.

Society is entirely competent at losing weight.
We don't have a weight loss problem, we have a weight management problem.
Along with the those engrained aforementioned actions, comes restrictions - & as I always state, physiology is a pendulum, the harder you push/restrict one way, the pendulum comes swinging back the other in an equal manner. 🏴
We need to learn what maintenance is, & what it looks like.
It's not about finishing every training session with 40 minutes of cardio, it's not about choosing the low cal option all the time, it's not about always being robotically precise with your macros, it's not about always choosing fitness over social events.
It becomes an entirely altered concept.
Work with your metabolism & set point, not against it.
You can maintain a lean composition if you go about it properly, but properly isn't continual "fat" loss thought processes & application.
It's so much more fun & enjoyable than that!
Get lean, stay lean, live lean!
Your body does incredible things at maintnenace.

Once your program is published we will then communicate back and forth through your very own private chat and also have 4 week detailed check-ins to view photo and measurement updates and make continual adjustments. Currently, to get started it is just $99 for your personalized program + 8 weeks of coaching. Most online coaches charge much more than this and give much less of a service using copy paste methods for programs and limited interaction.

It is my goal with online coaching to help assist you as we work together toward your goals and learn the necessary information for long-term consistency. The thoracic spine is an area that is supposed to be very mobile. It can flex, extend, laterally flex and rotate. But usually it moves in combination. For example it can laterally flex to one side and rotate to the opposite side (Type I motion) or it can laterally flex to one side and rotate to the same side (Type II motion). If the thoracic spine lacks movement the low back or the neck will have to take up the slack which can potentially cause neck or low back pain. You can potentially tweak your neck and low back one day as well. Solution? Work on T-Spine mobility.

Type I Motion - Here I am positioning my right hip pressed up against the wall so that I don’t cheat with my hips while moving my t-spine. I preposition my spine to flex to the left by reaching my right arm up, then I reach at different angles with my left arm to drive rotation to the right.

Type II Motion - I flex my trunk to the right and reach with my left hand at different angles to drive rotation to the right.

Partner Assisted Type I Motion - Here you can lock the pelvis on the opposite side as well, then assist with rotation at the trunk.

10-20 reps on each motion and repeat on opposite side daily.
