I was overwhelmed by the interest in this dress after I posted it to my story. Here's a bit more detail on it:

Its actually olive green (and not black), sewn on the wrong side (the shinier/silkier side is what you see on the belt and turn-up). It's a dress, not an abaya (with a helluva slit in front 🙈). Once you tighten the belt, you can create that blouson effect by pulling up on the fabric.
What I love/d most about this dress is that all you need is a vest under and a sandal. Its so stylish all on its own - no prints or embellishments required.

This was part of my Bali holiday-wardrobe but it was just so long to travel in. I'd love to recreate this in a beige and wear a chunky gold bangle with it.

I wasn't sure what I planned to do with them at the time of purchasing, and initially thought I'd group them into individual glass containers down the length of my table. But how was that challenging (to me)? Instead, I selected a vase that was wide enough, not too deep and fairly short with an oasis (I'm not even sure why I had this in my store room or even how to properly use it AND it kept on floating to the top until i realised the water needed to go in AFTER 😂). I began adding the larger, more distinct flowers in and filling in (in odd numbers - kinda). Almost nearing completion, I realised that there were still too many empty spaces. I cut a few stems from my garden as fillers and used the roses that I received last week as a gift. It all came together just as I had imagined it to in my head.
Here's a really great tip that I simply must share about taking care of Hydrangeas:
1. Fully immerse the head into a bowl of cold water for over 30m, even up to an hour.
2. Shake off the excess water.
3. Stamp the ends slightly.
4. Use as required.

My hydrangeas have lasted since last Thursday and to extend the longevity of my florals, I've finally grouped them into individual glass containers.
What are your tips for taking care of flowers? If you're a florist, please share your expertise in the comments.

I came across this online; quick, funny read. "Most people are the 8 color boxes, but what you’re really looking for are the 64 color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64 color box, though I’ve got a few missing. It’s okay though, because I’ve got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8 color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation. So when I meet someone who’s an 8 color type… I’m like, hey girl, Magenta! and she’s like, oh, you mean purple! and she goes off on her purple thing, and I’m like, no I want Magenta!” ~ John Mayer

Goodnight all 😊

Fragrances have inherently been either feminine or masculine for as long as I am able to remember. When I think back to a fragrance that Mohamed and I first liked on each other - it was Hermès 24 Faubourg over 10 years ago. Having never come across unisex fragrances then, we dismissed the idea completely and I continued to use it as a feminine fragrance (even though the notes were deep, spicy and very masculine). I don't think that unisex (or gender neutral) fragrances get the attention that they deserve. The starting point of this fail is not enough 'sell' by sales assistants.

These fragrances stand the middle ground between typically feminine and overly masculine. We've been sharing most of our newer fragrances especially those from Dior. Fleur de Portofino and Costa Azzura by Tom Ford are both inspired by the Mediterranean. Having been described as vibrant and captivating, layering these two scents creates a crisp and bright floral accord which is extremely bold.

What are your (favourite) made-to-share scents?

These colours, combination of colours and this entire look would never usually be something that I'd wear. I really love the fit and how slimming the top portion makes my body look.

Also, can we discuss this view! This is my fave spot in Joburg in Summer on a Sunday afternoon.

1. More is not always more - no one wants to fumble around removing stones, gems, sand and flowers off of plates before eating. Keep the actual eating space simple.
2. If you prefer fabric over paper, tuck a paper serviette into the napkin so guests have a choice on which they prefer to use.
3. Use buying potted plants as an excuse to entertain. Remove and plant them after. If opting for fresh flowers, purchase them 2 days before so they have an opportunity to bloom.
4. Decide on one main colour and coordinate everything else around this. Mismatched is trending so use this as an opportunity to use broken sets or combine sets if you don't have enough of one pattern.
5. If your guests mainly eat with their hands, combine all the cutlery into one jar in the middle of the table - its a more casual approach to dining.

My closet mirror selfies have become a huge part of my online identity. I get between 200 to 300 replies when I post an image (and 20 daily asking why I didn't!). I am always grateful for the support and especially the engagement.
I've deliberated the idea of sharing them on my feed. I've been working towards a more curated feed and avoided selfies or any unprofessional images - until now - and my son isn't available all of the time 🤣

Whether I choose to like it or not, you appreciate these pics - and the content. And my feed and online presence is nothing without my readers and your supportive comments and encouraging words.

I've never put myself forward as a fashion blogger or the like. I just wanted to post what I wore and hope woman my age found it relatable. I am (still) discovering what I love about my body, what clothing makes me the happiest and wearing what suits me. When I look back through the outfit/fashion posts on my feed, I've realised how comfortable I am in neutral colours (and the shoes that I love to wear all-of-the-time!). Most of the time my mirror is dirty (from my kids fingerprints), my dressing room has more than 4 items piled on the side because I couldn't decide what to wear and at least 3 pairs of shoes out on the counter 😐 and then I go back to option 1 🤣 who can relate? |Tap for outfit details|

I find speaking about myself really difficult - even though I come across as really confident online.
I'm still not sure how to answer that but here's a bit more insight into my family dynamic.

I am a mother to 4 children. My eldest son is 9 years old, followed by my 7 year old daughter and my 5 year old twin boys (they're all closer to their next year as they're all born in Feb and April). Being an only child meant that I wanted a house-full of children. I also hoped that they would be born within a short time between each other AND I wanted twins (never-ending list of 'wants'). I developed a Pulmonary Embolism on the birth of my son, which meant every pregnancy after was at a high-risk and closely monitored by fortnightly blood tests and injecting myself with blood thinners. I KNEW that this was not going to stop me from creating the family that I imagined. The day that I found out that I was pregnant with twins was the happiest day of my life. My family was finally complete.
I am not a patient mother. I've never given in to tantrums or complaints about food - fortunately there were never any - and I have a really easy-going parenting style. At one stage I had 4 kids under 4. I wasn't sure what we were up to, but life carried on and I took all the support that I was offered - it's ok not to be brave all of the time. They have always fitted into our lives, instead of us into theirs - thats the best and only parenting advice that I'll ever share.

Speaking of fitting in, have you noticed how much I love to alternate crockery so that its never one complete set. Most of my items are interchangeable which means I'm never really bound to a particular setting. I've mixed a patterned plate here with plains across from it. This is a good way to only buy 4 of each pattern so its not so tight on the budget.

A year ago - to this date - I wrote about what inspired the series of workshops that I hosted over 10 years ago. The workshops were designed to showcase the expertise of woman whom I worked with; allowing them a platform to share their talents and allowing attendees, an opportunity to learn from them.

The idea was developed one afternoon with @saaleha_b
I said to her that she should do a few basic demos on papercraft and I'll do a few tablescapes and we'll call it 'Living the Lifestyle' workshops. To round it all together - an informal Afternoon Tea to get to know each other. Our Afternoon Tea was testament to the axiom To Live Well Is To Eat Well and our participants didn't just leave full on inspiration.

Our first workshop was sold out in hours, and each one that followed after. I loved speaking about my passion/s. If there's one thing that the workshops taught us, was that creativity feeds on boundless enthusiasm and passion.

I mentioned something at a luncheon that I attended this week - "Do what you love, even if no-one else cares". I can't say much for people not caring anymore because my children are as in invested in everything I do as much as my husband and friends are! 😂
This weeks tablescape features a tea-towel that I've used as a placemat (you may have spotted me doing this on my Eid tablescape a few months back). Its a lovely way to add interest to a table and if you dont mind the splurge, you can replace placemats entirely with tea-towels - why not! ~ Thank you ~
I am so humbled by your messages on and offline. I'm so pleased to share bits of what makes up who I am with old followers and new.

I was born to parents of Hindu Indian heritage and I married into a Muslim
family and it is with that dynamic that my food evolved ever since. I started experimenting and developed my own style - food that we both love and can enjoy together.
Our perception begins with sight. The eye can, as much as the palate, suggest how we perceive food. Documenting how my food evolved online was a way to visualise my growth. I invited readers on this journey, and together, we were able to learn from each other. What use are we if we don't live to inspire each other?

I am obsessed with food and I think about it all the time - it is not just the cooking that excites me, the joy is also in the eating. Over the next few posts, I want to re-introduce myself to you.

The Naqiyah way is about abundance, celebration and an insatiable drive for perfection.

I've formed friendships around food. Many of you have known me or heard of me since I began sharing my life and my cooking online on Food24 (the first online food-sharing platform in SA) almost 11 years ago. That is where I met some of my closest friends.
Food has brought us together in different ways. It brings our family together at dinner every night, as well as our extended family and friends for Friday lunch or special occasions. Food is the driving force that pulls us together and my people love to be cooked for.
My tablescape this week was an inspiration of a myriad of things; the wooden board inspired by our recent travels, the potted plants (which the children planted after lunch) signifying the (almost) start of a new season and the fern/jungle print on the plates/sideplates are a reminder of our time in Ubud.

What do you bring back from your travels? I'm always inspired by food when I travel and spend weeks after recreating what I've eaten. We had breakfast over talks of Bali and Smoothie bowls this morning.

I remember the day so clearly that @balidriverandguide and I were shopping for wooden bowls. We were looking through photos that he had taken and the next minute we felt the entire ground shake. We proceeded immediately for the exit which was located 2 floors above. We needed to evacuate the building immediately-it was old and M and the kids were in the car in the parking lot. Needless to say, they felt nothing! Agus and i arrived panicked, threw all our shopping into the car and sped off! 🤣

Turns out it was the earthquake was around 6.2 on the Richter scale (the second that we experienced on the trip) - I'll forever remember shopping for wooden bowls (that's really a memory to bring back from your travels!) I flavoured @woolworths_sa Coconut yogurt with ginger syrup and chopped some of the ginger from the jar in. I sprinkled over a chopped seed bar mixed with muesli, pistachio and coconut flakes. I finished off with a sprinkle of coconut sugar and blueberries.

I almost always never find swimwear that is practical, flattering and that offers decent coverage.
Admittedly, I prefer dressing up and lounging poolside (and not actually getting into the water 🤣). If you're holidaying in Bali, take 1 cossie as a backup and buy the rest there. Bali is 3 hours away from Australia which means most of the swimwear brands can be purchased there (and discounted). I'm more into elegant swimwear (as opposed to surfer-style) and bought all my cossies at Oysho in Beachwalk, Legian. They have the nicest cover-ups and sandals too.
If you're looking for swimwear locally, @witcheryfashion in Woolworths always has the best styles and fabric. Woolworths almost always has really cute shorts to wear over too. I spotted really well made cossies @brasnthings too.

P.S have you seen the infinity pool in pics at the Hanging Gardens? 😍 #tropicalislandidea

Our final days at the Hanging Gardens of Bali was meant to give us some time to rest before heading back home. It's been one of the best decisions that we made, and thinking of implementing this style of travel with future trips.
I'm glad that we have some time at home before the kids (and us 😂) enter the new school term. Else this all wouldn't feel much like a vacation!

2. The 2 larger shopping areas (for me on this trip) was Seminyak and Ubud. - Seminyak: get close towards @queensbali and walk in either direction. There are a few really nice swimwear/coverups and island-style stores in this vicinty. Theres also a really nice local jewelry store nearby. You will find the Bali bamboo bags with the pompoms (purchase these separately). I saw so many Bali bags that I didnt even want one 😂🙈 - Ubud: I found Ubud had nicer stores for shopping. I bought layered bracelets (in image) and really beautiful embroidered tops. If you have lunch at Halal Ubud Burger, walk to the right when coming out of the restaurant.
3. If you're near to Legian/Kuta, @beachwalk_bali has international fashion brands (@hm @zara Victoria Secret, Body Shop, etc). I bought all my swim and sleepwear from @oysho here. There's also a large @candyliciousworld with some eating places (we didn't eat here). 4. If you're around Nusa Dua, pop into the Bali Collection. Skip through the shop and go durectly outside to the other smaller stores. I bought dresses from @bambooblondeindo and @uluwatulace There's also a beautiful home store in this centre. If you prefer swim brands like Roxy, Billabong or @seafollyaustralia there are loads of swimwear stores here. I usually buy the entire set from Seafolly with the matching cover-up and slippers. They were really well priced here.
5. There's a large Carrefour in Bali too. Set aside some time to browse through and purchase Coconut powder, jackfruit chips, stripped fruit (for smoothie bowls) and Dragon fruit chips.

When I began planning our family trip to Bali, I was certain that I wanted my family to experience what living in the middle of the jungle felt like.

Ideally, i should have planned my trip at least 3 months in advance, most especially because the really good hotels in Ubud sell out so quickly.

Another problem was that many of the more private and exclusive hotels in the jungle have standalone units that are far apart from each other - which meant having to book 2 and my husband and I would have to stay with 2 children each in a unit.
I had 2 very definite hotels in mind when i began booking and when a 2 bedroom Family Villa became available @hanginggardensofbali i didn't give it much thought.

Our Villa has a private (heated) infinity pool which our children have been enjoying. The bedrooms are located on 2 floors (thankfully our children are slightly older and a bit more responsible now to manage on a separate level). In fact, you never really have to leave your Villa if you didn't want to.

The Bali Swing is just one of those photo opportunities that you cant miss when you're in Bali. I mean who doesn't want to look like Jane swinging through the jungle in a canopy of trees 😂

There was a 20m wait in line to use the swing. There are photographers that can take your picture (20 images for $10) or if you have a very able hus (M took the picture of me resting like a canary in my nest) or tour guide (Agus took this). I did the medium swing. The large one had an ugly harness plus I'm slightly skrik like that. I really felt like I was flying. It was such a great feeling and the bonus was getting a cool IG shot out of it.
My buddy suggested that we skip the comp lunch that was included in our booking. You can also do the nest shot here + there are other swing lengths.

Another favourite has been the yogurt. At The Pullman, they served little jars of coconut (sweetened) yogurt with ginger. I'm going to replicate this by swirling chopped ginger in syrup into @woolworths_sa coconut yogurt when im back home.
Our children have eaten pancakes every day for 2 weeks 😣😭 why do they behave like they dont get it back home? 😐

1. Walk-ins are welcome but I'd suggest making a reservation. We needed to wait 20m for a table inside.

2. We ordered:
- Vegetable Samoosas
- Tandoori Paneer - Plain Dosas
- Butter Chicken - Chicken Vindaloo
- 3 different naan
- Goolab Jaamun
- Masala tea - Mango Lassi
Every dish was outstanding. I'd recommended ordering mild for younger kids as my kids felt the medium very spicy (they usually eat spicy food). The Masala tea was so good!
3. You can also order a take-away. We did that one evening and they supply disposable plates and cutlery to you. Everything is well sealed to avoid any mess.
4. Queens is in the middle of a busy shopping street so you can browse while waiting for your food.
Food is reasonably priced. For 2 adults and 4 children including soft drinks, our bill came to Rp961000 (R961). #niqibali #wheretoeatinbali #foodinbali #seminyak #eatingoutbali @balitourismboard

This was a really good burger! And this is kind of what the 'city' life in Bali is about - scooters everywhere!
We visited the rice paddys today (all about this in a blog post) and really wanted (good) junk to eat. I looked up 'Halal places to eat Ubud' and this appeared to be one of the better options on TripAdvisor.
We didn't look at any other options on the menu as we were all in agreement on burgers (and it's been a while since we had one). Mohamed and I had the Green Chili Cheese Chicken burger and the kids had the plain chicken burgers with fries.
There are actual large bits of fresh green chili as a topping. It was exactly what I was hoping for!
If you're passing by after a day trip (if you're returning from Teggalang and staying in Ubud - if not, it's 30m from the rice paddys). There are beef burgers on the menu too for those who are interested. There are also salaah facilities upstairs.
A burger with fries was Rp65000 (R65) - similarly priced as some of the fancier restaurants out by the coast.
This establishment is certified.
P.S the street to the left - if Halal Ubud Burger is in front of you - has amazing kaftans and accessory stores.
If you have any Halaal recommendations, post them here 😊

1. Distances between places of interest can range from 30 minutes travel time to 3 hours. How can you plan better? Stay in at least 3 hotels during your trip so you can tour each area without having to spend hours in your car. The traffic is the worst I've experienced on my travels so that often extends the trip by at least 30 minutes sometimes.

2. Halaal food is fairly easy to find. They might not always have the best locations but they're located in every busy tourist area. When searching, input 'Halal food in Ubud' for example. Halaal is spelt with one 'a' here/TripAdvisor. Also, you will notice the word 'Warung'. That indicates a cheaper quality/grade of food.
3. You will mostly see the same bags throughout your trip. If you think you're going to find a nicer/better/cheaper one down the road, you're likely not. When you see them, buy them. Seminyak is nice to browse through but I found shopping in Ubud far nicer. If you're into the boho look or hoping to buy cover-ups, kaftans, boho jewelry, then you will get them all in Ubud.
4. Lots of people mentioned bringing snacks from SA. We've bought it along the way at the mini mart - and so much cheaper than SA! There's also a huge Carrefour here if you'd like to buy toppings for Acai bowls. Coconut sugar, creamer and powder are all easily available so if you're in to healthier eating, you might like to stock up (a bag or 10 😂). 5. I had/have an entire holiday wardrobe. I packed most of it away because it was easier (for long trips) and cooler (for touring) to just be in shorts or skirts and little tops. Also, even though fancier sandals feel nicer to wear, my Havaianas have honestly been what I've worn the most. Bali is so chilled out. People mostly walk around in their beach wear with cover-ups or shorts and vests.

6. Food is so reasonable, even at really posh places. Drinks don't cost alot either but if you're with little kids you might prefer to buy a few drinks, crisps and snacks from the mini mart before getting to your hotel.
7. Hair frizzes, alot! I have to wash my hair daily - you get really sweaty walking around and the humidity is so bad.

There are so many things that you can learn once you jump outside of your comfort zone and just go. Prejudice is a large part of human nature and the more cultures that you experience, the more that you realise they are not very different from us.
It's always comforting and feels 'familiar' to travel to Europe or the Middle East. It's almost as if I know exactly what to expect and I never question whether I'll enjoy my experience or loathe it - I just know.
Asia was never a consideration on my travel plans. In fact, I didn't even know where all the countries were on the map 😂

I just knew that I wanted something different for myself and our children. I needed them to experience a life different to their own - even if it was just from our taxi window for the first proper day of touring today. They've asked so many questions and seen an absolute contrast in one day, from putting on sarongs at a temple to cliffside dining.
How will travel ever change us or how we see life if we don't overcome the fear?

What did we order:
1. 3 portions of Seafood Paella. One portion feeds 2 people, here it was combined into one large pan. We requested that it not be served the traditional over-salted way. It was flavourful but bevause our preference is generally spicier food, I felt that this Paella would he heightened if there was some chilli added.

2. 1 large starter portion of Battered Seabass. This was served with a dipping sauce. This has been the best thing that I've tasted in Bali so far. It was so flavourful and well seasoned I honestly could have had another full portion by myself.

3. 2 drinks from the Mocktail menu; Basilico and a version of a Pina Colada.

Service was slightly slow but it's easy to overlook given the location, view, music and overall ambience.
Need a driver and guide in Bali? I can't recommend Agus from @balidriverandguide enough. El Kabrons ‘floating’ seaside scene with Ibiza style vibes makes you feel like you're very far away from the actual Bali. Perched on a clifftop, this Spanish restaurant and cliff club overlooks the Indian Ocean on the cliffs of Pecatu, near Uluwatu. We had a light lunch after our visit to Uluwatu Temple earlier this morning.
1. Seating out at the pool has a minimum spend of Rp599 000 pp (R599) and kids are charged at Rp250 000pp (R250). We opted to sit indoors because a. We'd never be able to spend that within an hour of dining + b. Outside was for serious tanners - and way too hot. If your kids (over 5 years) would like to swim, it's an additional Rp50 000 (R50). 2. If you're not familiar with or not comfortable eating Indonesian food and prefer 'Western' food when traveling, you will appreciate the food at El Kabron.

If you aren't dining at Pollen, purchase your entry to the Flower Dome at the ticketing counter. If you appreciate botany and walking through gardens, this is a must-see attraction in SG - especially if your time is limited and you aren't able to get to the Botanic Gardens.

It was really busy when we went (Sunday) and all the instagrammable images you see online just aren't achievable so late in the day (we were there at 415pm). The walk-through showcases the best of horticulture and architectural design.
The permanent exhibits are complemented by changing displays in the Flower Field to reflect different seasons and festivals. The concept is simply outrageous; an unbeatable collection of plant life sourced from all corners of the globe.
The Flower Dome has blossomed into a must-see destination. Here's what we thought:

1. If you have difficulty walking, allocate more time to appreciate the gardens. The area is quite large and there are many sectioned gardens to view.

2. Younger children might not appreciate this attraction after they've walked through the bottom level. Our children became notably bored of seeing 'the same flowers and plants' (although they were all very different). 3. The whole Dome is a walk-through however take note of the guided walks and live demonstrations.
4. The Botanic Gardens and the Flower Dome are 2 very different experiences. Whilst our children preferred the former, if you aren't able to visit both, a quick walk-through the Dome us sufficient.
Have you thought about what your favourite flower is? Im so obsessed with these beautiful little tinkerbell flowers 😍

Location: Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, SG.
Restaurant: Pollen.

Pollen is one of those places where the reality fails the IG account. I'm not saying that it was all bad, I'm saying that it was a disappointment from what I anticipated.
With that said, they were able to accomodate me at the last minute (I made a reservation on the day when their bookings were already closed for the day and they were really accommodating) and we were seated in the main dining area. I felt dissapointed when we arrived (I expected to be surrounded in blooms 😏), but felt grateful for our larger seating as upstairs was smaller and noisy.

I was happy to overlook all of that because I expected a really stand-out afternoon tea. Here's what I thought about the experience:

1. We had to order 6 settings (each child - even at 5 years old - is counted as one setting regardless of how much or little he eats). I would have liked for there to have been at least 3 really nicely plated sets for 6 people. I stead it all arrived on 1 large wooden board and the savoury items on 2 plates.
2. The scones were homely and satisfying. I felt like they needed to be smaller, but the sizing didn't bother me too much.

3. The pastries were neat and tasty. I think they suited the informal nature of the afternoon tea, however I'm wondering, given the location + name whether more effort could have been put towards creating something more than just Mini Muffins and a few Choux au Craquelins. I would have loved to have seen more floral inspired pastry perhaps scented or inspired by nature.
4. We requested a Vegetarian/Pescatarian menu for our tea and the only item I enjoyed was the cucumber sandwich 😑. My son loved the beetroot dip with charcoal crackers (clearly my palate is not as refined) but the whole savoury selection felt average.
5. You are permitted to enter the Flower Dome after without paying an entrance fee or booking a ticket for it. That made the final bill of S$269 easier to swallow 😣

I didn't want to rule out the possibility of this being the best Afternoon Tea that I had in SG. Our tea @twgteaofficial is our preferred recommendation with children in SG.

Firstly, I'm not sure how these bloggers take their pics with NO-ONE around them here 🤔 it was full for the entire duration that we were there. It's also really wet (from the waterfall sprays), so you can't get too close with freshly ironed hair (😂). Anyway, tickets may be purchased together with the Flower Dome (we had complimentary access here) or as a single entry.
You have an option to take the stairs up - 7 flights/120 stairs - or the lift (but the queue was really long for this). There is nothing dramatic once you get to the top. In fact, the most beautiful view can still be seen and photographed from the bottom.
If you appreciate this sort if thing, it's wonderful to see - and walk through. Oddly, our children were really fascinated by the walk 'through' the waterfall and then the ascension. I'd recommend this attraction if you have kids who are old enough or really little to not bother you while you enjoy it.
Note the misting times and try to work your entry time around that.

The taxi driver will drop you off at the Mall entrance and you need to make your way out towards the bay. Once you see a large 'flower-like' structure, proceed towards the entrance and take the lift to ticketing.
You may purchase tickets online however we were uncertain whether we were able to make the time allocation so we bought the tickets when we arrived.

Currently (August 2018) there are 3 exhibitions. You have a choice of how many you would like to visit and pay/purchase just for those.
Because our children are accompanying us on this trip, everything we've done (and what I've posted about) is focused on what they've enjoyed, or their experiences. Our suggestions (according to our children): 1. Only visit 2 exhibitions; Marvel and Future World. Future World is specifically aimed at and created for children. We'd suggest starting your tour of the museum there and allow them to spend extra time enjoying the glass slide, large led balls and especially allow them to create art which gets scanned and converted into a moving image that's projected onto a large screen.
2. Marvel will appeal to boys mostly who understand the movies, who are from ages 5/6 and upwards. The kids can't read much of the text on each individual character but they are interactive so they will enjoy seeing them. If you're on a budget (or have really little kids), give this a skip and treat them to milkshakes at @dcshcafe instead.
The third exhibition featured Theo Jansen and his unique wind-driven, beach-walking creatures called Wind Walkers. If you're visiting this exhibition, plan your time around the show - they demonstrate how these creatures actually move.
Pricing may be found online.
We decided to visit 2 exhibitions, have lunch and return for the third.
Is this a must-do in SG? Yes, if your children are over 5/7 and you have an afternoon to spare. If you plan the day properly, you can visit the museum and go back into the Mall after. #niqisingapore #singapore #visitsingapore @visit_singapore

If you come out of the Shoppes at Marina Bay and head left along the bay, you will see a sign for River Cruises. You don't need to prebook this, and the boat leaves around 15/20m intervals.

We planned around doing the cruise just before sunset, in that way you're able to see the city in day light and watch the sun settle behind the buildings.
1. Is it a must-do in SG? No - whilst it's pretty and you get great views of some of the landmarks, the 40 minute trip felt long for the kids who soon became bored. There was also lots of noise on the boat so it wasn't relaxing either.

2. If you've done the cruise along the Seine in Paris, this has a similiar feel, excluding the sparkling tower at the end.

3. If you're planning to do the cruise at our suggested time, you will have 30m to spare before the sound and light show on the bay front after. Settle down on the stairs and check the timings if you're there over the weekend.
Slide one is a perfect representation of the @artsciencemuseumsg (the 'flower-like' building on the left), the Shoppes at Marina Bay and @marinabaysands towering over it.

This collection of magical giant trees is located in @gardensbythebay
If you're keen to plan your day the way we did, here was our itinerary:
3.00pm - Afternoon tea at Pollen (full post on @pollenrestaurantsg to follow). 4.15pm - Walk through Flower Dome (entry was complimentary because we dined at Pollen). 5.00pm - Walk through Cloud Forest (ticket purchased from counter). 5.45pm - Childrens Garden: complimentary outdoor water play area.
6.45pm to 7.45pm - Supertree Grove.
1. Best time to visit: check what time the sun sets and work around being there at least an hour before that. If you're keen to go up along the walkway (we didn't because the queues for ticketing were too long) I'd recommend that you get there much earlier.

2. Best view? I think the view from the sky walk would be pretty amazing and you will feel right in the middle of all of the action when the actual show comes on. If you're seated at the bottom you're going to get the views as pictured in my images above.
3. Charge: If you want to view the trees from the bottom, it's free. There is however a charge to go up and tickets need to be purchased from the counter alongside the trees.
4. It is definitely worth the visit so plan your evening around it. If you're leaving immediately after the show, proceed quickly to the taxi pick-up as the queue to get a taxi fills up pretty quickly.
5. Don't leave once the lights have come on. Stay on for at least 15m after its completely dark. A Garden Rhapsody light and sound show gives an ethereal look to the gardens; it's pretty spectacular. (And then leave as quickly as you can). #singapore #gardensbythebay #supertrees #supertreegrove #avatar

Restaurant: TWG Tea Garden.

1. I emailed TWG weeks before we arrived to ask about their reservation policy (there is none, we waited for approximately 10 minutes to be seated even though the Mall and all of the tables at Tea Garden were occupied), whether gelatin was used in their jelly (jam served with scones - it is pectin) and whether they offered a vegetarian stand (vegetarian is a standard and not an option). 2. I also checked the menu online to make certain that my children would be catered for. It's reassuring to know that kids have options when dining at nicer establishments and even though I ordered ice-cream for them, they requested a second stand because they fully enjoyed the selection on ours.
3. The tea selection is so varied (it felt like a thousand and one teas on offer), so go with a flavour in mind or stick to the classics. For our first pot I opted for a French Earl Grey and the second, a Green Jasmine.
4. It's important to mention that everything is infused with a tea flavour, even the ice-cream. I'd return just to share a scoop with my children; it was really that good! It's also not pompous, you can pop in for just tea and ice-cream too - it's all very relaxed even though everything appears super fancy.

5. I loved everything about this experience. The tea, the scones (most especially the scones as they were served warm), the ambience and the canapès. You can shop the teas or the sugar and jelly in the store alongside when you're done. I really cannot recommend this experience enough and is one of my most favourite places in SG (with children). 6. I was mostly confused about which branch I wanted to have my tea at. The other salon located in a quieter part of the mall doesn't look as pretty as this, so use the LV store as a landmark when visiting.
7. I appreciated that The Tea Garden was located in a mall. When we were peckish, we stopped shopping and made our way towards TWG. It's especially nice if you just need to sit for a bit.

8. Our total bill: S$108.
