How many times have you found yourself sitting for long hours in a hunched over posture when you're at work? 😬 I know I have. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with slouching and hunching forward, it's nice to break out of that every now and then too.

I've seen a lot of people that have become stiff in the thoracic spine. And when we try to get them to extend, it all comes from the lumbar, or low back. This can make it difficult to get that mobility opened up. But there is a good way to do it.

I want you to actually SLOUCH MORE! 🤯 For real...by slouching more, you will tilt your pelvis backwards, therefore locking your lumbar spine into some flexion. This will allow you to drive your extension through that thoracic area that you're after without the lumbar compensation. Do 10 to 15 of these on each side. Then sit up tall and see how easy it is to open up that midback. 👌🏼

Swimming ‍♀️ was always my sport, and I was in the national swim team when I was in middle and high school. My highest medal 🏅 was a silver in both 50m & 100m freestyle. Week 14 has arrived!! For this week we figured you all deserved a little TLC! This is one of our favorite cat/cow variations using the fitball. The key to this movement is to really focus on each vertebrae during articulation in order to get the most out of the movement. Starting with a tucked position, slowly begin articulation all while maintaining a tucked lower spine. This can be done by pulling the sits bones towards your head and activating the hamstrings. The opening of your lower spine will feel amazing!!! After a few repetitions, add extension to the spine on the return home. Curl the booty under to bring the spine to plank and slowly extend to return home. Breathe and allow the body to just move.
