On the Eighth Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants -Eight wands a waiving, Seven bags of kibble, Six bouncy balls, Five cans of tuna, Four running fountains, Three fleecy beds, Two loving hands, and a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Nini is a quiet older lady who came to Purrfect Pals when her owner developed medical issues and could no longer care for her. At 12, when she’d clearly prefer to be snuggled up in front of the fire with visions of dinner dancing in her head, she’s in a shelter, waiting for a new home. She’s starting to open up to us in the adoption room and show us what a lovely kitty she is, but she’d be infinitely happier in a house, with her own person or people. This sweet orange senior enjoys sitting on a chair or windowsill looking out at the neighborhood goings on, snoozing in her cushy red bed, and getting skritched on her cheeks and under her chin. We’ve discovered she absolutely LOVES the grooming glove, and makes the cutest squinty eyed face of happiness while being stroked with it. (We’re planning to send it home with her, along with her bed.) She’s usually content to be near you, not on you and is fond of rubbing against your ankles to express her love. Nini has a raspy, croaky little voice she'll use to ask for attention or to tell you when you've found just the right spot to skritch. In addition to the grooming glove, she appreciates catnip mice, balls, fleece blankets and good gushy food. While she has been housed with other cats at the shelter, Nini is a timid kitty who would be happiest as the spoiled one and only feline in her home. Christmas is almost here, and the New Year is hard on its heels. If we all work together, to get this elder stateswoman of a kitty home for the holidays, they will be merry indeed. Please send her positive thoughts, send up a prayer, share her story, or come visit Nini at the Lynnwood PetSmart and see for yourself what a darling this special orange sweetheart is.

On the Seventh Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants - Seven bags of kibble, Six bouncy balls, Five cans of tuna, Four running fountains, Three fleecy beds, Two loving hands, and a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Otis Lester is a reserved, laid back, gentle soul looking for a second chance. He came to Purrfect Pals earlier this year because the other cats in his home were bullying him and his family realized he needed a different situation in order to be happy. Otis truly enjoys attention from people, whether it’s just hanging out together, being groomed or petted. He is an avid lover of being combed, and happily purrs and circles around for as long as you will groom him. He can be quite introverted around other felines and was also known to hide from dogs and small children in his former home but can be chatty, affectionate and playful when he gets comfortable with you. Otis would honestly prefer to be your only fur child, but may be okay with another quiet, mellow cat. This sweet 9 year old tuxedo boy has a thick, luxurious, fluffy coat you can't help but pet, soulful green eyes and amazing, magnificent whiskers. If you’re interested in a cuddly, plush sweetheart who would enjoy keeping you company while you read, knit, play video games or chill on the sofa, Otis would love to meet you! If you’re a big sports lover who can’t help shouting at the TV, he may find a quiet spot to nap until the game is over, or tuck himself into a window for one of his own sports, bird watching, but he’ll be back for loving when the excitement dies down. He’s at the Sammamish Petco waiting to go home for the holidays and cozy up with you. Wouldn’t you like to make this Catmas warm and bright for Otis?

On the Sixth Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants - Six bouncy balls, Five cans of tuna, Four running fountains, Three fleecy beds, Two loving hands, and a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Hunter Kennedy originally came to Purrfect Pals in 2011 as a kitten. This lovable house panther was adopted then but returned in 2017 when circumstances in his home changed. He’s been with us now almost an entire year, mostly because he was so scared when he arrived and found the shelter really intimidating. He is a still quite shy but will warm up to you after meeting you a couple of times. This handsome, extra-large kitty loves when his friends put on the grooming mitt, sit down and brush him. Hunter enjoys a good chin or back scratching, appreciates regular meals, and has an inordinate fondness for catnip bananas, which he can never have enough of! Hunter really needs a special someone who understands that though he may not want to be a lap kitty, he will happily cuddle up next to them and deserves to be loved for who he is. Hunter would benefit immensely from a quiet, restful home with a cat-savvy adult who will talk softly to him, give him some cozy hiding spots, warm fleecy beds and be patient while he adjusts to his new home (and perhaps bribe him with some of those bananas he loves so much). He is a timid boy who might be okay with another shy, non-alpha kitty but probably not with a bunch of kitties or young, active children. This Christmas, Hunter wants the opportunity to start a new life out of the shelter, in a true forever home. If you’re interested in playing Santa for Hunter, he’s at the main shelter at 230 McRae Rd. NE, Arlington, WA waiting for you to slide down the chimney with his new life wrapped in a big bow. 🎁

Happiest Gotcha Day, Cora!

Cora Snowball was our very first Twelve Day of Catmas poster girl last year. An enchanting, petite, flame-point Siamese girl with tons of personality, Cora had been adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten in 2008 and returned in 2013 when her owner could no longer care for her. Adopted again briefly from June to October 2014, she was returned when that owner's living situation became unstable. Along with all her wonderful attributes, Cora also had asthma which required daily medication as well a tendency to urinary crystals, managed with a prescription diet. While those who knew her thought this little one was a magical being, her medical needs were intimidating to folks thinking of adopting. Fortunately for Cora, Chris saw her story and was moved to offer her the third chance she needed. Here’s what she said recently: "I fell in love with Cora Snowball when I saw her photo and story on Facebook on the first day of Purrfect Pal's Catmas in Dec. 2017. It told about her asthma and that she had been in the shelter for 3 years waiting for her new family. I had to do some reading about feline asthma before I could commit to her care - then I made an appointment to visit her on Dec 19th which became her gotcha day! I felt a little overwhelmed when I started home with Cora, her medicines, equipment and lots of instructions but she settled in nicely and is now a vital part of our family! When I took her to my vet for her 'new kitty' visit he told me that she was very healthy and had obviously had excellent care at Purrfect Pals! Her daily asthma care has just become part of our routine - no big deal. I feel so blessed to haveCora! She is a joy every day. And I still think she is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen. Thank you Purrfect Pals!!!” We are grateful to Chris for giving Cora the home she needed for so long and for managing her medical issues with such grace. This Catmas, we celebrate Cora and Chris and their life together.

On the Fifth Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants - Five cans of tuna, Four running fountains, Three fleecy beds, Two loving hands, and a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Last December, Squeek was featured in the Twelve Days of Catmas and here it is, an entire year later and she’s still waiting for her forever home! Squeek was surrendered to Purrfect Pals in August of 2016 because her owners were moving and couldn’t take all of their animals to their new home. A quiet, reserved little lady, Squeek suddenly found herself thrust into a shelter full of strange people and way too many cats for her liking, which understandably, made her more than a little grumpy. It’s been 28 months now and she still struggles with being surrounded by cats and really, really wants to get out of the shelter and into a home with people of her own who will love and cherish her. Squeek lives up to her name with an adorable repertoire of chirps, murrs and squeaks she uses to express herself. This tiny little torbie girl with incredibly soft fur does want to sit next to you, rather than on you, and while she isn’t a fan of being picked up, is a fan of snuggling in bed at night. She is living with chronic back pain, for which she gets daily medication, and she plays, climbs, jumps and gets around with little to no problem. Squeek is a huge fan of heated cat beds and stuffed animals she can hug and cuddle while she naps. She also enjoys snuggling underneath blankets, and lazing about for large portions of the day. She prefers to be petted on her head and neck, not on her back or lower body, where she is uncomfortable. Squeek previously lived with dogs and other cats but not children and in our experience she is not happy around other cats or small children, and it would be best for her to go home as an only cat in an adult home. She may be eligible for our permanent foster program, giving you the option to live with Squeek and love her, without worrying about her medical care, which would be provided at our shelter clinic in Arlington. Overall, Squeek is a pretty laid back, mellow little lady just looking for someone to love and a place to be herself. CONT COMMENTS

Remember Duchess, our darling tiny mama kitty who came to Purrfect Pals with severe pneumonia and broken ribs? We are thrilled to share that, after months of medical care and TLC, she is now in a loving home just in time for the holidays! A wonderful couple came to our Holiday Open House on Saturday, hoping they might meet their next kitty while they were here. Many of our cats were interested in the job but, after careful consideration, they decided Duchess was their purrfect match and came back yesterday to adopt her! This sweet girl will be the only pet in her home and that's just what she was hoping Santa would bring her (since she wants all the laptime and attention for herself). Congratulations to Duchess and her wonderful new family and thank you so much to everyone who donated toward her veterinary care and made this second chance possible!

On the Fourth Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants - Four running fountains,Three fleecy beds, Two loving hands, and a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). This dapper little “cow” kitty is Vader. He came to Purrfect Pals in January of 2018 after his life-long owner passed away, leaving him orphaned. Not interesting in intergalactic travel or conquest, Vader enjoys perching in cozy windows and watching the birds and squirrels right here on earth. He is an amiable older gentleman who still has a playful streak but is generally pretty mellow. He loves to converse with folks and is happy to chat about your day, his day, the birds he’s watching or what’s for dinner. Vader has a history of asthma, which requires a daily inhaler (trust us, it’s easier to give a cat an inhaler than a child). This makes him eligible for our permanent foster program, where you get to live with this charming guy, and relax, knowing that his medical care will be paid for and provided by our shelter clinic in Arlington. Vader is good at interspecies relationships, having lived happily with a Pom mix dog in his previous home, although he’s not particularly fond of other cats. He's a sweet old soul who starts out shy but warms up to become a fabulous companion to his people. Vader is seeking a sedate retirement home and promises his wild, destructive, kitten days are well in the past. His only bad habit (which is a matter of perspective) is a long standing desire to jump onto counters, the better to be involved in what’s going on. He’s looking for a quiet, calm life with someone who wants a kitty to love, spoil, and sleep with at night. Vader's Christmas wish is to have a home before the New Year. He says 11 months in a shelter is way too long for a man of his age and we agree! If you’d like to ring in the New Year with as appreciative kitty, this IS the kitty you’re looking for. Please come meet Vader at the Purrfect Pals shelter, 203 McRae Rd. N.E. Arlington, WA.

On the Third Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants - Three fleecy beds, Two loving hands, a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Murka Trixter is rapidly approaching her second Christmas without a home and honestly, a year and a half is way too long to wait for a home when you’re a 14 year-old kitty! This beautiful older lady was adopted from Purrfect Pals as an adorable young kitten, then returned 13 years later when her family moved out of state and said they couldn’t take her along. Murka has no idea why her beloved family packed her up and left her with a bunch of strange people and cats in this place she considers pretty much the opposite of heaven. In her home she was the only cat, the undisputed queen of her castle and she just hates sharing space with other cats! She put up with the adoption room as long as she could before we gave her a break in a fabulous foster home this year. Murka is now 14 years old, and has spent an entire year and a half in shelter care, waiting for someone to give her the home she desperately needs. This chatty senior with the grumpy little mrrow is looking for someone who wants to have long conversations with her, feed her on a timely schedule, operate the feather wand, toss soccer balls, and generally be her favorite human guardian. She’d be happy to sit in your lap while you read, or to watch TV with you and if you’ll skritch her head, she’ll reward you with a lovely purrrrrrrr. Her foster mom says: “one hour after I brought her home she became the most loving cat I have seen. She loves to be held and snuggled but like any cat it has to be on her terms. I have started to call her “Princess” Murka as she is either demanding your attention or letting you know she has had enough. She has been a guest in my home for quite a while now and really deserves a forever home where she is the only “Princess” and has a place to live and be loved in bigger than my 10 x 10 spare bedroom.” Murka is easily startled by sudden movements, so she’s not a good fit for a home with young children but she loves being petted on top of her head and when she’s feeing over stimulated or has had enough attention, CONT COMMENTS

On the second day of Catmas, our shelter kitty wants: Two loving hands (And) a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Walter is a distinguished, large orange and white tabby senior who was transferred to Purrfect Pals in May 2017 after being surrendered to a local public shelter because his owner was moving. At fifteen years of age, Walter has some pretty firm opinions. He likes nice people, gentle petting, being a couch potato, napping in cozy spots and warming the laps of his people. He dislikes young, boisterous children, loud noises in general, and lots of coming and going around him. If he were human, he’d definitely be the old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn! Like many human seniors, Walter is on medication for high blood pressure. He is also declawed on his front feet and missing most of his teeth, but he eats both wet and dry food just fine. Walter is not intrusive or as needy as many cats, but he does like being around you, sitting quietly next to you or in your lap when you’re relaxing on the sofa. He lived with and tolerated another cat and a dog in the past, but he’s not thrilled about sharing space with so many other cats now and might really enjoy being your only feline child. Walter is looking for a quiet, calm home, yummy food, and companionship. He is eligible for our Permanent Foster Program, where Purrfect Pals could cover the cost of his medications and provide his medical care at our shelter clinic in Arlington, letting you enjoy sharing your life and home with him, without worrying about paying vet bills! Of, course, you can certainly adopt Walter outright, freeing up resources for another needy cat. Oh yeah, Walter’s pretty clear that he is past due for that cushy, loving retirement home he’s been waiting for and shouldn’t be spending another Christmas at the shelter! This mature older guy deserves a loving home for his sunset years, where he can bask in the love of his family and lounge in soft, sunny beds to his heart’s content. If you are looking for an appreciative kitty companion, come meet Walter at the Purrfect Pals main shelter, located at 230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223. Adoption hours are 11 am - 4 pm.

On the First Day of Catmas our shelter kitty wants - a catnip mouse in a purr tree (and a forever home). Sophie Windchime was adopted as a kitten from Purrfect Pals 8 years ago but returned in March 2016 when her owner became unable to live alone and had to move into a more sheltered environment. Sophie loves people but has a deep and abiding dislike of other cats and is more than happy to tell you all about her feelings on the subject. After a year surrounded by bunches of cats at the shelter, Sophie really needed a break (and the other cats needed a break from her) so we sent her to a wonderful foster home for some TLC and time out. She spent seven months with that foster family, quickly demonstrating her marvelous personality and how loving she truly is when she is the only kitty in a home! This snarky little princess blossomed into a social butterfly who met people at the door when they came home and followed them around until she could hop up on their shoulder to tell them about her day! Giving headbutts, love nips or making biscuits are some of her other favorite activities. We learned she even likes children when she’s not stressed out from being around other cats!

Since returning in 2016, Sophie developed epilepsy, for which takes daily oral medication like a champ - no muss, no fuss. She remains seizure free and is eligible to be a permanent foster, with Purrfect Pals providing and covering the cost of her medical care at our clinic in Arlington. You would have the joy of living with this princess without having to worry about vet bills, as well as the knowledge that you have given a truly special lady a home. Of course, Sophie can be adopted outright and have her care managed by your own vet, closer to home.

This past January, Sophie was adopted into what was supposed to be a permanent foster situation, but she returned this fall when her family’s circumstances suddenly changed. The husband in her home was abruptly transferred to Oregon and the family couldn’t find pet friendly housing, nor could they actually afford her medication or care on their own. These folks loved Sophie dearly and it caused them great distress to bring her CONT COMMENTS

Mittens Sparkle Cupcake is every bit as unique as her name. At two years old, this beautiful tabby girl is just barely out of kitten hood and loves to play! She especially enjoys feather toys, mice and laser toys and will happily play all day. She grew up in a family with multiple young kids who loved her dearly, but unfortunately played too roughly, so she came to us to find a home where her roughhousing would be less of an issue. Since coming to Purrfect Pals, she has spent several weeks with a lovely foster family, who tell us Mittens is an easy-going, fun cat with loads of personality, who really enjoys snuggling at night. Because she grew up as an only kitten, without a sibling to correct her when she played too hard with them, Mittens didn’t have a chance to learn what’s appropriate and what’s not. She did well with the four cat-savvy children in her foster family (all under age 9) and does give cues when she is done getting attention. Meanwhile, we’re working with her on how to play without hurting her human playmates.
Mittens likes to be petted on her head, but her belly and body are to be avoided since this mischievous youngster likes to roll over and play bite people's hands. She lived with dogs in her first home, as well as in her recent foster home and did very well with them. She isn't particularly fond of other cats and would do best as the only feline ruler of her home. It is possible she might be okay with an extremely easy-going kitty if they gave her plenty of space. Mittens is a low maintenance, dry food afficionado, who simply does not see the appeal of gushy wet foods. When it comes to water, she loves to drink from a slow flowing faucet - and to dip her head under it to play!

Mittens has thoroughly enjoyed the six wonderful weeks she spent with her fabulous foster family but now she is ready to find a forever family of her very own. If you are a cat-savvy person willing to put in a little work with her, this delightful girl is going to be an amazing companion. Mittens Sparkle Cupcake would love to celebrate the holidays in a real home with folks she can truly call her very own. She’s waiting for you at Denny's Pet World.

One of the things that makes our organization so special is our Leuki Land sanctuary for kitties with Feline Leukemia (FeLV). Though spay and neuter has significantly reduced the number of cats and kittens being euthanized in Puget Sound shelters, those positive for FeLV are still at risk because there just aren't a lot of options available for them.

Our staff, volunteers, foster parents and friends fall in love with each and every cat who lives in Leuki Land. Many have lived with us for several years and we grow as attached to them as we do our pets at home.

Yesterday, we had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to a Leuki Land resident who passed away: Hero. This sweet girl came to live with us in 2010, when she was three years old, after her family had a baby. She quickly charmed her way into the hearts of everyone she met and spent most of her eight years at Purrfect Pals curled up in a lap. She looked like a supermodel with that soft, luxurious fur and perfect eyeliner and she never took a bad photo!
Two wonderful friends of Purrfect Pals adored Hero and had temporarily fostered her several times throughout the years when she was feeling under the weather. Today, they completed the paperwork to officially "adopt" and take her home. They were her favorite people in the world and we couldn't think of a better resting place for her.

We will miss Hero terribly but feel incredibly blessed to have had eight wonderful years with her in our Purrfect Pals family. Rest in peace, Sweet Girl. You mattered and will never be forgotten.

Please consider giving a gift to Purrfect Pals In Memory of Hero so we can continue to provide a loving home for cats and kitten with Feline Leukemia. Donations can be made at https://purrfectpals.networkforgood.com

Mr. Tux was adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten in 2007, returned and adopted again in 2010 and then returned to us in January, 2018 when his owners became unable to care for him. Mr. Tux, or "Tuxie", is a shy 11 year-old kitty who is easily scared by fast movements and loud noises. He is an independent boy who has his social moments and enjoys spending large parts of his day snoozing in a warm, safe spot. He is not a fan of being picked up, preferring to come to you for attention when he's ready.

This little guy has clearly had a tough life and spent his first five months at the shelter hiding at the back of his cage, scared and withdrawn. It took months to pry this scared, shy boy off the back wall of his cage as he slowly opened up to us, enjoying chin skritches and returning the favor with purrs and head rubs (and nibbles) on our hands. Finally, in June, Tux found himself unable to resist the lure of a dragonfly wand toy and ventured out of his cage for the first time to play. Since then he has made slow but steady progress, thrilling our volunteers as he spent more time out socializing with them, visitors and other cats. Along the way, Mr. Tux chose one of our Lynnwood Petsmart volunteers to be his human. After she was gone for 4 days at the end of July, Tuxie found his voice and told her in no uncertain terms how upset he was about her being gone. He proceeded to launch a strong campaign to become her cat and this week she finally succumbed. Her husband, Terry, graciously accepted the need to make this boy the 4th (and last) resident cat in the household. He will have 2 sisters and 1 brother, all Purrfect Pals alumni. Today Tux is ensconced in his safe room, venturing out from under the sofa to eat, use his box, and ask for pets and skritches. Sue and Terry know it’ll take him time to relax and be comfortable and have promised to love and care for their new shy boy forever and ever. Happy third chance, Tuxie! 🎉

Milgard Family Foundation, we were able to have 26 beautiful new custom cat condos made for our sanctuary! While most of our cats are loose in rooms with other cats, it is sometimes necessary to temporarily isolate sick kitties. These condos are made of powder-coated stainless steel that is durable and easy to clean/sanitize so we will be able to help our cats get healthy even faster (and with less stress!). They have separate cubbies for litter box and sleeping/hiding with frosted glass doors that let light in but also provide privacy.

The new condos are super roomy but to take full advantage of the space, we want to add a Kuranda bed to each one. Will you please help us reach that goal by ordering a bed at https://kuranda.com/donate/6890 (or sharing this link)? Thank you so much!

Meet the Italian Food Kittens: Carbonara, Lasagna, Meatball, Primavera, and Tetrazzini are practically the perfect variety pack of kittens. Their favorite activities include: eating, napping, climbing anything and everything, chasing balls, catching wand toys, playing with ALL the toys, romping wildly through the house, bouncing off walls, running about like wild cats, and being overall bundles of predictably crazy cuteness. These four month-old fuzzies are ready for homes where they can play with abandon till they crash for naps, continue their growth into adulthood while learning how to be their best cat selves and be loved unconditionally by folks eager to teach them the ways of the world. They have lots to learn about proper cat behavior, like what’s appropriate to scratch, or how to play with toys and not hands, or how not to be scared of carriers, nail trims or new people. This family was originally found in a crawl space and the kittens appear to be on the shy side, so they may need some extra TLC. They definitely need guidance, love, tolerance and kindness from the people in their lives. Not for the faint of heart, kittens take tons of attention, time, forbearance, patience and love. Fortunately, they’re cute. Very cute. This awesome bunch of adorable kittens is waiting at the Woodinville Petsmart to charm and amuse you. Come and be prepared to fall under their spell.

This week has been especially difficult for our staff and volunteers because Colonel Mustard wasn't the only long term resident of our sanctuary who we lost. 🌈 We also had to say goodbye to our CFO (“Chief Feline Officer”), Mary Meowsie, who ruled our offices with an iron paw. Mary had been in late stage kidney failure for a long time and finally reached the point where the kindest gift we could give her was ending her suffering.
Mary was the poster child for tortitude and beloved by many. Visitors enjoyed spending time with her, even when she was hissing, swatting or nipping at them. Mary Meowsie did what she wanted, when she wanted and only if she wanted to. She had all of her office staff very well trained and was definitely one of a kind. She had a heart of gold, wrapped in a snarky torti shell, and we won’t stop feeling this loss any time soon.
Mary Meowsie's memory will live on in our hearts (and on our Purrfect Pals Tortitude t-shirt (swipe), of course). Rest in peace, pretty girl. 💔

Purrfect Pals Family, we are sad to share that we said a very difficult goodbye to a very special long term resident of our sanctuary last night: Colonel Mustard. 🌈 The Colonel was adopted from Purrfect Pals in 2004 as a kitten but returned three years later. He then stayed with us for over eleven years and was adored by everyone who met him. He had never met a stranger, that's for sure. He was a silly boy, always showing off his Feline Ninja Warrior skills and jumping on the shoulders of anyone who bent over near him. He did back flips to get the attention of staff and volunteers and no one could resist his big blue eyes. He had a few chronic medical issues and didn't always think inside the (litter) box, but we were always willing to overlook his quirks because we loved him so much. Colonel Mustard was diagnosed with aggressive cancer. Please enjoy these pictures and be sure to share your special memories of this amazing cat! And please keep our staff and volunteers in your thoughts and prayers because we are all hurting right now from this loss. The sanctuary and our hearts feel empty without this special boy. 💔

Jez was surrendered to a local shelter in December of 2014 because her family felt she “needed too much attention”. Looking at her, you immediately ask why such a lovely blue-eyed girl been homeless so long. At 8 years old, she’s pretty set in her ways and we aren’t holding our breath expecting any epiphanies to change her. This strikingly gorgeous torbie and white cat is an intriguing girl, full of quintessential “cattitude.” (Some might say just a bit too much cattitude.) Jez definitely wants to be in charge and expects things to be done HER way. She’s tough and independent but also loves having a warm lap to curl up in when she’s ready. That doesn’t necessarily mean she wants to be petted - she may just want to luxuriate in the comfort of your lap and companionship. Jez is a tough little gal, shy around new people but warming up once she gets to know them, wanting and deserving love as much as every cat, just slightly differently than you might expect. She’s hoping to find the right person with tough skin (literally and figuratively) who will love her just the way she is.
Jez is very easily over-stimulated and has been returned four times for biting. She honestly wants attention and nudges you asking for pets but then bites when her ears or tail are touched. If you spend time with her and pay attention, she usually tells you when she’s done and wants to be left alone. Jez needs a home with a cat whisperer - someone with lots of experience with cats and a willingness to just let Jez be Jez. While she may be challenging, in return, Jez will be a loyal, loving companion for the right person. She would do best in a quiet home with plenty of cat friendly spaces, a warm lap to rest on and no young children. More than anything, a real home with her own people instead of a room in a shelter with a bunch of other cats is what she needs most of all. If you think kitties belong in homes and not shelters and would like to help Jez, please come meet her at the Purrfect Pals Shelter. Come meet Jez and give her the chance at a happily happily ever after she’s been searching for, she’s been waiting years for you.

I’ve been called distinguished, handsome and intriguing, but folks around here know me as Toby Jo. Fifteen years ago I was adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten and almost eleven years later, my folks returned me because I expressed my unhappiness by spraying in the house. Since then, folks looking for a cat to adopt have skipped right over me because of my “issues”. Honestly, all I want is two litter boxes with unscented clumping clay that are scooped every day, and things are just fine. The shelter doc also put me on a prescription diet for urinary health, which keeps all of my plumbing in good working order and feeling fine, so I have no complaints. I have been waiting for YEARS to go home and that is not an exaggeration! Finally, after all these years, I’m home, and I wanted to share the good news with my friends and followers. (That’s you, right?) Since I don’t know all the details, I’m going to have my ghostwriter fill you in.

Ghostwriter here - Cheryl, Toby’s new mom, fell in love with his mercurial sweet-tart personality more than a month ago. She’s had lots of experience with cats and wasn’t put off by his sometimes cranky personality or by his needing a prescription diet but when she met Toby, she was in the process of buying a new house and wasn’t able to take him home immediately. Although she knew we couldn’t hold him for her, she has visited faithfully over the past month, hoping she wouldn’t lose him to another adopter. Well, there’s not exactly horde of potential adopters looking for a curmudgeonly 15-year-old cat, and Toby Jo was still waiting for her when she finally moved into her new home this weekend. As soon as the last piece of furniture was in and she knew the doors wouldn't be opening and closing, she came to get her guy. Because of his age, issues, and the fact that he had taken so long to find his home, an anonymous donor had paid Toby Jo’s adoption fee, which was a nice surprise for Cheryl. Now, after years and years of waiting, Toby is finally home with Cheryl. Of course, we think every house is improved by having the right cat, and obviously, Toby CONT COMMENTS

Squeaky Jette was adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten and returned this past April when her owners moved to San Francisco and couldn’t take her along. This cute black and white girl has been a bit uncertain about the changes in her life and reserved with new people. She was devoted to her former owners and needed some time to adjust and be ready to love again, but at just 8 years old and with years ahead of her, she has found the perfect new family and a lasting commitment. When a former volunteer and her partner came into the Issaquah Petco earlier this week, they just fell in love with Squeaky! On Thursday they were back to start the adoption process and had started getting their home set up for their new feline friend. Yesterday, Squeaky packed her kitty bags and went home with her new, forever and ever folks.
Today we’ve had an update from Squeaky’s new mom, Nicole, and heard that she’s doing great! Nicole says that although they bought a bunch of cat beds for Squeaky, and placed them strategically about the house, Squeaky has been happy just sprawling on the floor. From the look of these pictures (swipe), this girl is already 1000 times happier than she was in the adoption room and Nicole is thrilled to have her home and settling in. It’s pretty clear to us Squeaky's going to be one spoiled, pampered princess and we couldn’t be happier!

Masyanya Violet is a big, beautiful, house panther with stunning emerald eyes who was adopted from Purrfect Pals as a kitten. She has spent the last ten years living with her family and her BFF (Best Feline Friend) and when he passed away this year she was very sad. Ultimately, her family came to the realization that they were unable to make her happy and weren’t in a position to add another cat to their household, so they brought her back to Purrfect Pals to seek a new home with another cat or two to keep her company. Violet is a BIG lovebug and we are pleased to report she is now making a fresh start with a new, loving family who were looking for a buddy for their kitty who recently lost his BFF.
Fran fell in love with Violet when she visited the Issaquah Petco yesterday and brought her husband back last night. After spending a good amount of time with her and getting to know each other, Fran and Ray decided to take her home right away! Their cat, Angus, recently lost his BFF too, so they were looking for a cat who liked other cats to be his companion. They know it’s up to Violet and Angus to figure out how friendly they want to be with each other, and that it may take some time for them to adjust to each other. We’ve all got our fingers and paws crossed hoping these two lonely hearts will find solace and perhaps love again, together.

Who can resist this adorable face?
Jewels is a fabulous older gal who lost her home after her folks divorced. At fifteen years old, she suddenly found herself looking for a loving home and new laps to occupy during her golden years. Other than wanting a friendly lap to occupy, her needs are pretty basic. Of course, she wants plenty of yummy food, a cushy, warm bed for napping, a place where she can bask in sun puddles and someone to love. When she’s not napping, or holding down a lap, she likes to follow/play with a string toy. Nothing unusual or difficult, right?

Jewels thrives on attention and loves when volunteers and visitors stop and hang out with her. She’s currently sporting a classy lion cut, which we think just ups her adorability. Jewels gets along with dogs and children but hasn’t had any experience living with other cats. In the adoption room, she’s not aggressive toward them and doesn’t pay much attention to them other than to hiss lightly when they walk by, mostly as a reminder she’d prefer to be alone. This is a quiet, senior kitty who enjoys sleeping, sleeping, eating, a light bit of play and sleeping some more. Do you have a spot on your bed for her and maybe a cozy cat bed or two around the house? You saw that she’s a lap cat, right? This senior lady doesn’t want to spend another day in the shelter and we agree with her - she belongs in a home of her very own, today! If you can treat her like the true treasure she is, please come make Jewels acquaintance at the Renton Petsmart.

Have you ever seen those beautiful pictures of two cats snuggled up together, twined around each other in an inseparable cuddle puddle? Lily and Ruby could model for those photos.

These exquisite flame-point girls love people, are cuddly, shoulder kitties and happy droolers. Lily loves to be petted, will come ask you for attention and is an all around sweet kitty. Ruby is a calm, shy girl who loves to snuggle and will follow you around the house, keeping you company. She’s looking for a special person she can love without reservation.

Lily and Ruby have been adopted from Purrfect Pals twice and haven’t found the right fit yet. They first came to Purrfect Pals in May 2016 after their lifelong owners of nine years had a baby, and felt the girls needed more attention. They were adopted in 2016 but the resident cats in that home wouldn’t accept them so Ruby and Lily came back to us three months later. Adopted again, they were returned to Purrfect Pals a second time because they developed medical issues and their owners couldn’t afford their care.

The girls have inflammatory bowel disease, which is managed with a prescription diet (PR by Royal Canin) and is stable. They both also have stomatitis, which recently required surgical extraction of multiple teeth. Because of their dental issues, they now receive monthly injections. Ruby and Lily qualify for our Permanent Foster Program. This means you could have the joy of living with them and Purrfect Pals would cover the cost of medications and provide medical care for their IBD and stomatitis at our shelter clinic in Arlington.

These slightly shy, enchanting 12 year-old kitties are truly bonded and need a home together. If you are looking for two cats who truly love each other, Lily and Ruby are those cats! They need a stable home with a few big, cozy cat beds they can fit in together and someone they can bond with who will dote on them in their golden years. Lily and Ruby have been waiting over 2 years for a home, which is way too long in cat years! If you’d like to meet these little ladies, they’re waiting for you at our main shelter, located at 230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223.

This beautiful orange tabby was taken to a local public shelter as a stray, then transferred to Purrfect Pals because she needed our brand of extra special care. You see, Shaker has a seizure disorder that requires close monitoring and daily medication. While a lot of people have been drawn to her good looks and sweet personality, nobody has been willing or able to adopt her and manage her seizure care. At just 2 years old, Shaker has a lot of living to do and it shouldn’t be cooped up at a shelter! Like all cats, she wants her own person, regular meals, a home she’s not sharing with 20 other cats and a bed of her very own. She’s actually quite the bed connoisseur, searching for the one in the room that’s not too hard, not too soft, but just right.
Shaker qualifies for our Permanent Foster Program, which means Purrfect Pals would cover the cost of her seizure medications and care for related issues at our shelter clinic in Arlington. Of, course, she is also available for outright adoption.

Shaker can be a little apprehensive around strangers at first but warms up to you readily if you approach slowly. She’s not a big fan of other cats or small children and we have no idea what her history with dogs might be. Shaker is at the main shelter in Arlington waiting for the person who will give her a second chance at happiness. If you are looking for a devoted feline friend, want to make a difference for a special girl and have a big, comfy bed to share, Shaker would love to call you hers! Come meet her at Purrfect Pals, 230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223.

Over the past four months she was treated for ring worm, eye and upper respiratory infections and had two spa days with @alexthecatgroomer (Thanks, Alex!). She was scared to death when she came to us and had to learn how to trust people. We can't believe how far she has come! She still gets nervous when picked up but now loves to sit next to people for cuddling. She has one of the loudest purrs we've heard and is a champion muffin maker!

A year ago he was surrendered to a local shelter because he was lethargic and his owner could not afford medical care so they opted for euthanasia. Fortunately, that shelter checked his microchip and called Purrfect Pals to say they had a cat of ours. We picked him up immediately and took him straight to the Veterinary Specialty Clinic to find out what was wrong. This poor guy was so anxious in the carrier, he scraped his nose raw and tore his feet up against the door trying to get out. At the VSC he was diagnosed with early chronic renal failure and received IV fluids, pain medication and antibiotics. He has been on prescription renal support food this past year and needs to remain on it. He has been stable and been otherwise healthy.

At 14 years old, Mr. Moustache has found the dramatic changes in his circumstances extremely upsetting. This sweet old man doesn’t appreciate being in a shelter instead of his home and absolutely hated being caged at the store adoption room. He is much happier in one of the open rooms at the shelter, where he enjoys sitting in the window in the light, or lying on his back in puddles of sun, luxuriating in the warmth. Unfortunately, being at the shelter seriously limits his exposure to potential adopters. Our staff and volunteers find this distinguished gentleman irresistible and give him as much attention as possible. He loves to rub against your legs at any opportunity, enjoys being petted and has the cutest pug nosed face and curmudgeonly charm.

Mr. Moustache qualifies for our Permanent Foster Program, which means Purrfect Pals would cover the cost of care related to his kidney issues at our shelter clinic in Arlington. Of, course, he is also available for outright adoption.

Finding homes for senior cats is always challenging. Finding homes for seniors with medical issues sometimes seems impossible. As a senior with a health issue, Mr. Moustache has 2 strikes against him, which is why he’s still in the shelter a full year after coming back to us. We remain hopeful there is someone out there who will give this little old guy the home he needs. Cont Comments

He was transferred to Purrfect Pals after being taken to a public shelter as a stray. What his life was like before he came to us is unknown. Clearly, at some point he lived with and loved people. Vinny wants to be everyone’s friend, and greets them at the door of the adoption room asking for pets.
Vinny has had a recent dental cleaning, some superficial fatty skin tumors removed from his shoulder and abdomen and is all tuned up and ready to pack his bags and take his fabulous personality and mellow attitude to his new home. Just because he’s extra special, he has uneven sized pupils, which is called anisocoria, but is not of any clinical significance. They just make him all the more unique!

While we love having Vinny as the official greeter in the adoption room at the Woodinville PetSmart, we’d love it more knowing he was settling into his forever home, sprawling out on his very own bed and snuggling up to people who will be his forever.

With his easy-going, friendly attitude, this wonderful 10 year old gentleman should fit into his new home quickly. If you’re looking for that big, soft, cuddly buddy, don’t wait too long to come meet Vinny. He’s still at the Woodinville PetSmart but we don’t think he’ll be here long before somebody realizes what a treasure he is and makes him theirs!

This itty bitty, 5 pound kitty was found alone, fending for herself at a rest-stop. We have no way of knowing how Sally ended up in such a big, scary situation. She could have escaped while traveling with her folks; been abandoned there; or gotten lost and just found her way there. Regardless, she was all alone, frightened, and in constant danger with cars coming and going all day and night. Thank goodness someone saw her and took the time to get her to a public shelter! We had her transferred her to Purrfect Pals because we felt this tiny senior tuxedo should be resting on a comfy pillow at home and not in the hard dirt by the road. Obviously, we don’t have a lot of information on this sweet 12 year-old lady but we can tell you that she is shy but friendly. Sally needs a bit of time to adjust to new situations, but once she feels safe, she’s an affectionate little sweetheart. She would probably adapt best to a calm, quiet, home where there is not a lot of activity or noise. We’re all pulling for this mighty mite to find her way out of the shelter and into the arms of a loving family soon! If you’re interested in adopting a kitty who needs you and will appreciate you, please consider Sally. You could make all the difference in her world, and ours. Sally is waiting at the Issaquah Petco for the person who wants to make 2018 her best year yet. UPDATE- ADOPTED

Maria was brought to Purrfect Pals by a kind person who wanted her to have a better life than being a barn cat. She spent time in a foster home polishing her kitten skills, learning that people are good at providing skritches, opening cans of yummy gushy food and keeping little kittens safe. A wee bit shy initially, she has turned into a bouncing, busy kitten in the adoption room. She has also become best friends with Momo, a slightly older girl in the room. When they aren’t ambushing each other, playing tag, or wrestling, Maria is snuggling up to Momo for kisses and grooming. She’s a sweet little pantherette with beautiful bronze eyes who is still exploring and learning about life, the universe and how to be the perfect cat from Momo.

Momo was the mother of our recent Dumpling family. She came to Purrfect Pals with her five little dumpling kittens when their owner couldn’t care for them. The family was placed in a wonderful foster home where Momo got the support and love she needed while raising healthy, well socialized kittens. She is a petite young tabby with a snowy white belly who has thoughts and feelings about many topics and is more than happy to share them with you. Momo is quite affectionate with people and actively solicit pets and attention. She enjoys climbing to the top of the cat trees or other high perches to survey the world, loves to play and is a pro at using the litterbox. Momo became a mother when she was quite young and at barely a year old now, has happily reclaimed some of her lost kittenhood with Maria. As much as Momo loves Maria, she does not love other adult cats, so this dynamic duo will need a home where they are the only cats.
Watching these two as this friendship developed, we all agreed they should go home together. Maria and Momo want a home with kind, cat loving folks who will enjoy the antics of a baby kitten and a slightly older one year-old kitty who love to play, romp, climb cat trees, chase balls, stalk each other in crinkly tunnels and generally zip around like the crazy kittens. Petey is very sweet but shy and will definitely need lots of time before he’ll be comfortable enough to greet you at the door when you come home. He really likes face and chin skritches and loves treats, which, used in moderation, will help him warm up to you. He is very curious and often comes out when he thinks no one is watching and explores the room. We’re sure he just needs time to adjust to new situations and people and that he’s going to be somebody’s best friend once he feels safe. He loves any toys with string; those are his all-time favorites and toughest to resist. Petey really doesn’t understand the whole shelter thing or why he is here. With patience and TLC this little house panther will make a great kitty for a cat-savvy person. If you have time and patience to work with this scared 2 year-old kitty, come meet him at our main shelter in Arlington.

Adopted as a kitten, after fourteen years in his original home, Milky Way was returned to Purrfect Pals when his girl moved out of the family home and her mother wasn’t able to care for him. Losing his home and coming to the shelter has been extremely disconcerting to this senior guy but he is adjusting. Milky Way is a darling older cat who enjoys playing with fluffy balls, scratching on scratcher pads, hanging out in windowsills, and being petted. He can be vocal and is often active at night. In his previous home, he lived with men, women, children, cats, and dogs and did well with all of them.
Milky Way was diagnosed as diabetic a while back but his glucose levels seem to be well controlled with diet. Over the years he has slowly lost a good amount of weight and is doing well on a wet food diet. He’s had comprehensive lab work that looks good, including his thyroid values, had a dental cleaning and is ready to get out of the shelter and into a retirement home suitable for a sweet, aging kitty. We think everyone here will agree fourteen year-old cats should spend their golden years snoozing in sun puddles and fleecy beds and not living in shelters. If you can find room in your heart and home for this chatty, older gentleman, please, come spring him from the Woodinville PetSmart. He’s there now, waiting for a second chance at love and happiness. If you can’t be his person, you can still be part of his squad by sharing his story with your family and friends, and help us help him. What’s more delicious than that?

Naomi and her daughter, Marceline, were brought to Purrfect Pals to find a forever home together when their former owner couldn’t keep them. At just about a year old, Naomi isn’t much more than a kitten herself, and Marceline, born on May 15 this year, is the epitome of crazy kitten energy. Naomi has been a devoted mom to Marceline, keeping a watchful eye on her as she zips about, playing with all sorts of teaser toys, crinkle balls, fuzzy mouse toys, and honestly, just about anything she can lay her furry little paws on. In addition to being a vigilant mom, Naomi is also an extremely sweet, friendly, young girl who enjoys being petted, as well as playing with her daughter and an assortment of toys. Yesterday, a father and daughter who were looking for a pair of female kitties came to Denny’s Pet World to visit. The daughter, who had seen Marceline and Naomi earlier this week was especially taken with them. Her father agreed with her and before long, medical records were reviewed, contracts signed, and the dynamic mother-daughter duo were in their traveling crate and headed home. The staff and volunteers who have cared for Naomi and Marceline are wishing them many happy years together with their new family!

She’s a dedicated lap cat who is thrilled to be brushed and petted, appreciates a good nap, enjoys a good string toy and is grateful for regular meals. This sweet, calm lady has chronic kidney disease, currently managed with prescription food that supports renal function. We just introduced you to Della yesterday but it turns out she already had an admirer! Yesterday Della was adopted from the Renton PetSmart by a terrific, cat-savvy husband and wife. Ben had been visiting Della the past month or so and when he brought his wife to meet her yesterday, they agreed to be Della's forever people and give her the retirement home she deserves. They have experience caring for elderly cats, including a diabetic senior boy already in their home who will be Della’s big brother. Della’s folks have a 3 story townhouse with plenty of space for 2 cats to share, lots of nooks and crannies for cozy napping spots and are talking about getting a big cat tree Della can call her own. We are delighted Della has left the shelter for a home of her own with such lovely people and are sending our best wishes for a long and happy life together!

Della is a lovely 9 year-old cat who found herself in a public shelter instead of enjoying her golden years snuggled up next to her human. She was transferred to Purrfect Pals to look for a new human and home to call her own, but it took her a little while to realize this was indeed, a good thing. As is often the case, the sudden and unexpected changes in Della’s life caused her a lot of confusion and distress, but a little time and lots of TLC from our staff and volunteers have raised Della’s spirits and she is a much happier lady. Now, she wants nothing more than to go home, to a real home, TODAY.

Initially, a bit reserved, Della warms up quickly, and will actively solicit your attention. She is a lap cat who is thrilled to be brushed and petted, appreciates a good nap and enjoys a good string toy. This petite tuxie eats heartily yet maintains her girlish figure with regular play sessions. Della is comfortable around other cats although she prefers to avoid bullies and finds kittens a bit aggravating. This sweet, mellow lady has chronic kidney disease, which is managed with Royal Canin Feline Renal Support prescription food, both wet and dry. Give her a little time to acclimate and feel safe in her new home and she will reward you with all the love and trust you could desire.
Della would like to remind you that among the benefits of adopting an adult cat instead of a crazy little kitten, is being allowed to sleep at night! Della is a zen master at relaxing and would be happy to snuggle up with you and cuddle instead of bouncing off the walls, breaking your fine china or climbing and shredding your drapes. Come meet her at the Renton Petsmart, located at 1203 North Landing Way, Renton, WA 98057. Della would LOVE to help Clear the Shelters by heading out with her new forever family!

Pumpkin came to Purrfect Pals when his first cat parent moved to Hawaii and couldn’t take him along due to a new roommate’s severe allergy to cats. Ten year-old Pumpkin loves attention, is quite outgoing and confident, and has mild Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). This means the portion of his brain that controls motor function didn’t develop fully before he was born and consequently he’s a bit wobbly in his movements. Don’t worry, Pumpkin gets around just fine, despite sometimes walking like a drunken sailor. His CH certainly didn’t stop him from finding a home just one short day after arriving at the adoption room in Renton Petsmart! Last night, Pumpkin was adopted by Suzanne, who didn’t have any other cats at home. It had been 3 years since she had a furry friend and she was ready for a kitty of her own when Pumpkin’s affectionate, lovable personality and adorable, funny gait won her over. Suzanne was so smitten with this sweet boy, she chose to pay the full adoption price and take him home last night rather than waiting for the reduced fee today for the "clear the shelters" event. Here's hoping they have many happy years of snuggling together ahead!

When I was taken to the nice rescue in the Tri-Cities, along with my 4 kittens, the lovely people there named me Sapphire. They told me they named me after a precious gemstone because I am indeed, precious and deserve to be treasured. After I raised my babies and they went out into the world to families of their own, I took a little nap at the vet’s office and when I woke up they told me I was “fixed”. I’m not exactly sure what that means, because I didn’t know I was broken, but they tell me it’s a good thing. Then the kind folks from the other side of the mountains brought me to Purrfect Pals, where they said I’d be safe until I found the perfect home. I admit it’ll take me a little bit to a time before I trust you, but I love skritches on my head and face, so if you start there, we’ll become friends pretty quickly. My hobbies include playing with wands, fuzzy mice, balls of all sorts, scratching on cardboard scratchers, napping on couches, beds and sunny spots and snuggling. I do fine with respectful smaller dogs and most other cats. Earlier this summer I had a short stay in a nice home but had to return to the shelter because there was a BIG dog there who scared me and we weren’t able to work out a way to live together. If you’ll take me home, and give me a little time and TLC (maybe treat me like that precious gem I’m named after), we should be cuddling and hanging out together in no time. Oh yeah, I should probably tell you that I can get chatty, and sometimes like to practice singing scales at night. Please, don’t be put off by the fact that I have a plush midnight black coat, it’s part of what makes me special, just ask anyone at the shelter. Like all Purrfect Pals cats, I have been viral tested, altered, microchipped and started on vaccines, more stuff the shelter folks say is important for me and you. If you would like to meet me, I’m waiting at the Sammamish Petco.

We appreciate black cats every day! Black Cat Appreciation Day was launched to help raise awareness about black cats in general and to show people they can be wonderful pets, just like any other cat. According to some studies, black cats are about half as likely to be adopted as tabbies and two-thirds less likely than white cats. Why? Some people think they are spooky or bring back luck and some think they look boring.

Not convinced that black cats are awesome? Here are 10 Reasons to Adopt a Black Cat or Kitten this week (or any week)

10. They look like miniature panthers. Who wouldn’t want their own house panther?
9. They're perfectly dressed for all occasions. They ARE the LBD of the cat world.
8. Black is slimming.
7. Black cats go with any decor.
6. In Japan and Great Britain they are believed to bring good luck.
5. They are basically little ninjas who excel at hiding in shadows.
4. They don’t care what color YOU are, they love you for your character.
3. Black is beautiful.
2. Black cats will love you just as much or more than cats of a different coat color.

and the number one reason to adopt a black cat.... 1. They are the least likely to be adopted, so they need you!

If you’re thinking about a rescue cat for yourself, please consider a black cat! Pictured are some black Purrfect Pals cats waiting for loving, forever homes. Do you have a black cat? Tell us why you love your house panther in the comments below.

Purrfect Pals has the greatest friends EVER! On Tuesday, we received a call from an overcrowded shelter in Las Vegas. They had just taken in a cat named Sandy, whose owner had passed away, and her microchip showed she had been adopted from Purrfect Pals ten years ago. Because of her age and the overwhelming number of homeless cats coming into this shelter daily, the cards were stacked against Sandy. Needless to say, the clock was ticking and we were very anxious to get her back to our no-kill shelter as soon as possible.

Foster Dad John, who fosters kitties for Purrfect Pals and shares them online via his 24/7 kitten cam, has cat loving fans all around the world. We posted a note in The Critter Room chat feed asking if anyone in the Las Vegas area would be willing to help us by picking up Sandy and fostering her until we could figure out how to get her back to Seattle.
We were overwhelmed by offers! Within a few hours, we made arrangements for Anne, who lives in Las Vegas, to pick up Sandy on Wednesday morning and take her home. Wendy, who volunteers for Purrfect Pals, immediately bought a plane ticket and took a vacation day from work so she could fly to Las Vegas today. Anne delivered Sandy to Wendy at the airport and they are now on their way back to SeaTac, where another volunteer, Janet, will meet them when the plane lands at 9:30, take Sandy home for the night and then drive her to Purrfect Pals up in Arlington tomorrow.
We are so incredibly grateful to Anne, Wendy and Janet for going above and beyond to save Sandy. Little did this sweet little vintage kitty know that she had friends all around the globe!

This adorable little floof of a kitty has had the absolute worst luck this year! It has been tough on her and extremely disheartening for us.

Sophie came to Purrfect Pals because her parents had their first human baby and when it became an active, loud toddler, she was terrified. They loved her dearly and felt she needed a child free home, which they couldn’t give her, to be truly happy. She has had two brief adoptions this summer that didn't work out through no fault her own. The first time she was returned because she and the resident cat in the home didn't get along. The second time she was returned because her new mom developed severe, miserable allergies and couldn't get them under control. Both of those adopters want everyone to know there is nothing wrong with Sophie and that she’s a wonderful, lovable girl they were sad to give up. We have promised this poor girl we will do everything we can to assure her next adoption will be to her purrfect forever home!
Sophie is a tiny bundle of fluff who loves people and enjoys being cuddled and brushed. She likes to spend her days climbing and snoozing on cat trees, playing with catnip toys, fuzzy mice and wands. Sophie is an affectionate, loving, 7 year- old kitty who would really appreciate a home where she is not being chased by a wee, noisy child. She is an easy going, sweet cat who just wants an adult person of her own for companionship.
If you think you can give this darling that perfect home, please come see her at the Lynnwood Petsmart. Sophie would love to meet you and get started on happily ever after with you.

Seriously, you cannot pet this beautiful girl too much! In December of 2016, Molly was found on our doorstep with a note that read “Hello. My name is Molly, my mom died. I have been an indoor cat my whole life. I am 9 1/2 years old. I hope you can find me a good home.” This wonderful cat has been waiting over a year and half for that good home and we can’t figure out why! This girl’s greatest joy is being with people, cuddling, being petted, talking, and hanging out in laps. She is lonely for a person of her own and desperately craves attention. If you stop to spend time with her she will reward you by licking your hands, giving head butts and rubbing on you to make you part of her tribe and demonstrating her happiness with a big, happy purr.
Molly has a couple of special needs, but they’re really not difficult to manage. She’s a plus-sized girl, currently on a special diet to help her achieve a healthier weight. She also has mild asthma, controlled with a once-daily inhaler, which she doesn’t seem to mind at all. Because of her asthma, Molly is eligible for our Permanent Foster Program, which means you would have all the joy and benefits of living with her and being her person while Purrfect Pals continues to cover the cost of any asthma-related care and medication at our Arlington clinic. Of course, she can also be adopted outright.

Molly is looking for someone to call her own. If you or someone you know is looking for a loving, devoted companion, Molly Snow is the perfect cat. Please, come get this amazing cat out of the shelter and into your home before another day passes. She’s waiting for you at our main shelter, located at 230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223. If you can’t adopt Molly, please share her story and help this girl get the good home her dying mother hoped for.

Of course, being the incredibly handsome, wonderful 6 year-old Siamese I am, it’s no surprise someone fell in love with me. Back in 2016 when I was found out on my own, nobody knew where my home was and since I couldn’t tell them, they took me to a public shelter. I got really lucky when they transferred me to Purrfect Pals. Some lovely people adopted me, but they already had a cat who didn’t want to share their people or house, so I couldn’t stay. I was adopted again but my family brought me back to Purrfect Pals this spring because they were being relocated and couldn’t take me along. So, after a year and a half I was back again, looking for another home, one where I could stay for the next 14 years or so.

This weekend a great couple, Adam and Jules, saw my story on Petfinder, and came to meet me at the Woodinville Petsmart. They have had a Siamese cat before and were interested in having another one in the family. After we met, they decided they simply could not live without me and promptly adopted me. My new dads have no other pets, which is just perfect for me, they are super nice guys, and I think they just might spoil me like I deserve. I think I have finally found my real, true, forever home. It doesn’t get any better than this!

When we first heard an 18 year/old kitty had been surrendered to a local shelter, we were heartbroken. Our heartbreak had turned to indescribable joy at the news that Sammy Davis has been adopted!! This wonderful old guy was surrendered to a local shelter by his lifelong family when they were moving and couldn’t take him along. For senior cats like Sammy, going into a public shelter is all too often a death sentence. Fortunately, Sammy got a second chance at life and happiness when he was transferred to Purrfect Pals. Sammy, like many older cats, has chronic kidney disease and is on a prescription diet to keep him feeling his best. Eighteen years old AND with medical issues often means long waits at the shelter for an adopter willing to take a chance.

Amazingly, this tiny tuxedo did not wait long for his retirement home! Yesterday, Sammy went home with a wonderful man who was captivated by his story when he saw it on Facebook.
Tim already had a 16 year- old kitty named Penny at home on prescription kidney support food. She has lived with other cats in the past and has been missing having a buddy at home. Tim told us Penny is a very mellow girl he was confident she’d be OK with a new friend. After spending time with Sammy, Tim said “I think this will work out very well for us” and adopted him.
Sammy has been eating and using his box fine since getting home and he and Penny were already getting used to each other this morning. We’re told there was a little hissing, but they’ve been slowly getting better. Tim says, "he's quite a love. Giving me lots of head butts." Kudos to Tim for opening his home and heart to this special boy. He not only rescued Sammy from a lengthy shelter stay, he revived our spirits and renewed our belief that all cats matter. For those of you who were touched by his story but unable to adopt Sammy because you’re not in Washington, we urge you to visit your local public shelter and adopt there. You too can save a life!

She came to us in 2013 after being found as a stray and was adopted back then, but recently returned. Her home has been under remodeling/construction for some time now and the noise and activity made her extremely anxious and unhappy. Unfortunately, her family is moving into a situation where they can’t take her and with her reaction to the construction, felt she should come back to us now to seek a new home. Her folks describe Amber as gentle, and well-behaved, but also as shy and fearful, so it’s no wonder that living in a construction zone was hard on her poor little psyche. When she’s comfortable in her environment, she enjoys climbing cat trees, sitting in windows observing nature, playing with laser pointers and being brushed. Amber has a tendency to overeat, so she will need help with strict portion control instead of free feeding in her new home. This beautiful mixture of tabby and tortoiseshell coat does come with a streak of independence, and Amber will need some space and time while adjusting to her new home. She’s not fond of other cats and isn’t interested in living with them or dogs, so she’d need to be an only pet. Of course, she thinks she’s all the pet anyone could need. If you have a mellow, quiet home and the patience to give Amber time to settle into her new life and family, we want you to know she’s worth the effort. Come to the Woodinville PetSmart and give her a few pets and toss a wand toy with her and we think you’ll agree.

Jazzy is a delightful, stunning, 6 year-old snowshoe girl who comes running to welcome you when you come to visit. She’s currently at Purrfect Pals because her lifetime owner died and there was nobody to care for her. Jazzy says that if you’re patient and give her time to get to know you, she would be more than happy to keep your lap warm in the winter and sleep with you at night. She’s still a playful young cat who enjoys feather wands, has been know to fetch, and whose favorite toy is a paper ball on a string. She absolutely LOVES to be brushed! Jazzy is on a selected protein diet and twice daily medication for allergies and hopes that won’t deter you from taking her home. She qualifies for our Permanent Foster Program, which means Purrfect Pals would cover the cost of her allergy medications and care for allergy related issues while you would have the joy of living with her and being her person. Medical care would be provided at our shelter clinic in Arlington. Of, course, she is also available for outright adoption!

Jazzy enjoys watching the world from windows or the top of a cat condo, playing with laser pointers, hanging out with her person and long naps. She doesn’t enjoy the company of small children and has actively avoided them in past. She has been known to be aggressive with dogs and hasn’t lived with other cats, having been her folks' one and only pet. She would probably prefer a similar situation, where she can be the solo, supreme pet in the household. Right now, she’s waiting for someone to right her world, which flipped upside down on her when her mom died. If you’re looking for a faithful furry friend, and want to make a sad kitty happy, come and meet Jazzy at our main shelter, located at 230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223. Adoption hours are 11 am - 4 pm Tuesday - Saturday.

Who doesn’t love a house panther? 🖤 Sid and Nancy are an adorable tiny panther/pantherette duo looking for their forever home together.
Sid, Nancy, and their two siblings were found alone in Yakima without a mom. A wonderful rescue group there took them in and took care of the kittens until they could get them to Purrfect Pals. We placed them in a great foster home where they have been lovingly cared for, given plenty of nutritious, yummy kitten food, lots of toys to play with and oodles of affection. Sid and Nancy are ready now for a home of their own, with people who want to spoil them rotten.

The bolder of the pair, Sid adapts quickly to new situations and is easy-going and friendly with visitors in the adoption room. A super playful and active guy, Sid enjoys trackball toys, teaser wands and all sorts of fuzzy mice and balls. Nancy has been a little bit more retiring since coming to the adoption room, but she’s still doing well with visitors, even allowing belly rubs at times. Both Sid and Nancy have sweet personalities and enjoyed hanging out with a teenage boy and his friends. Of course, they are kittens, and once they’re settled in their new home, we fully expect them to be zooming around the house, climbing the walls (and maybe the curtains), getting into anything and everything and keeping their folks up all hours of the night.
Sid and Nancy are closely bonded and waiting for a home where they can finish growing up and spend their lives together playing, cuddling, snoozing in cozy corners and loving their family. If you are looking for a pair of utterly lovable, captivating, good-natured, beautiful house panthers, come meet Sid and Nancy at Denny’s Pet World in Kirkland.

Sammy Davis is a remarkably resilient gentleman who has quickly won the hearts of our staff and volunteers. At 18 years old, his family took him to a public shelter because they were moving and couldn’t take him along. For kitties his age, landing in a public shelter is all too often a death sentence. Sammy was lucky to be transferred to Purrfect Pals and given a second chance at a loving retirement home. This sweet senior is a classy little pocket kitty at just under 8 pounds and wearing a spiffy tuxedo coat with white mittens. Sammy exudes all of the wonderful qualities of a mature adult cat; he loves to sleep, cuddle, receive pets and sit on laps. As befits his age, he’s a mellow guy, adept at handling whatever life brings his way.

Like many seniors, Sammy has chronic kidney disease and is on a prescription diet to keep him feeling his best. He is declawed on his front paws and for his safety must be a strictly indoor cat. He previously lived happily with other cats and dogs but has not been around young children.
This sweet old man truly needs a home where he can be safe and comfortable lounging about, snoozing or cuddling away his final years. Eighteen year-old kitties belong in homes with people to call their own, sunshine to warm their bones and soft places to lay their heads. No shelter, even the good ones like Purrfect Pals, come close to being that home. Sammy Davis wants you find the space in your heart and home to be his forever family and give him the loving home he deserves. This gentle, wise old kitty needs to get out of the shelter and into a real home NOW. Please, come meet Sammy Davis at Purrfect Pals, located at 230 McRae Rd NE, Arlington, WA 98223. If you can’t adopt, you can help get him home by sharing his story as widely as possible.

Wimple sent us an update recently, with help from his new Mom: "Dear Purrrfect Pals,
Thank you so much for being such an important part of my rescue. Because of all your efforts, I am in a home where I am safe and healthy, and most importantly, deeply loved.

I have new brother & sister kitties with whom to play. And I have a Mommy & Daddy who I trust and give me shnuzzles every day. They say I have the power to make the world smile, but I know your work does too.
Thank You for all you do,
