h This is my sweet baby girl, Baylie who was devastatingly struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Miami on her return back to University. She is such a beautiful, smart and determined young woman. She has a brilliant mind and was returning for her sophomore year of neuroscience at the University of Miami when this accident occurred.
Baylie is a strong, feisty and determined spirit. She spends today, Day 6 of her recovery still lying in a hospital bed in Miami on life support. Her many injuries are very grave, but Baylie continues to fight like her true nature and reminds us daily she is coming back to us!! Please help us keep the energy that is pouring in, filling the room, and flooding the internet alive. The generosity and love of all those around us, near and far, has touched our hearts so dearly. Baylie’s blessings link in is below. Updates are posted on Facebook. Baylie, we love you and we are waiting!! 💕💕💕💕💕😇 https://www.gofundme.com/blessings-for-baylie-grogan @miami Florida

“Non-responsive sleep training is an adult-centred approach, which may solve the problem for parents but it’s an illusion. What parents observe is that their baby stops crying. But just because parents don’t hear their baby crying doesn’t mean they’re sleeping through the night. It means they’re silent through the night. They lightly or fully wake as often as biology dictates. They may feel hungry, hot, cold, scared or lonely, but they’ve learnt if they cry nothing happens. They realize nobody is coming and they develop a behavior called “learned helplessness” or as Dr. Sears describes it “shutdown syndrome.” How do Sleep trainers explain this to parents? With the fictitious explanation of self-soothing. It’s a wonderful dream that babies are both with, or quickly develop, the ability to self-soothe but that’s all it is; a myth that needs to be shattered. As we know, babies are born exceptionally immature, with the most undeveloped brain of all social mammals. The skill of self-soothing would require babies to be able to regulate their emotions and this is as biologically impossible as it is for a baby to rid a bike. Their brain simply isn’t developed enough to be able to rationalize and deal with strong emotions and unmet needs. They rely on us, their parents to externally regulate their emotions for them until they are capable of doing so; day and night.” Tracy Gillett, The Lost Art of Natural Parenting. .
