I’ve done blog posts, stories, and YouTube videos about how I give myself an at-home manicure, but today I did my first one live with you guys! Thank you to everyone who watched, followed along, and asked such great questions – it will be in my story for the next 24 hours if you’re at home and missing your favorite nail salon! 💅🏻
A little midweek pick-me-up! Sloan’s look while chatting with her friends this morning: A Rapunzel dress, Frozen headband, and butterfly wings smashed up against the chair. 🦋 New goal is to channel 1/3 of my five-year-old’s sartorial choices.
Our team takes TV very seriously, so we compiled a list of our top 58 (!!!) shows in the hopes that you’ll find one (or a few) you can binge while you #stayathome. 📺
Lately, I’ve been doing this thing where I rate my anxiety on a scale from 1-10. When the number is really high, I make sure to acknowledge that so I can take the steps I need to lower it – but it’s also important to remember the times when it *isn’t* nearing a 10. Things are currently heavy, and it’s easy to feel like sky-high anxiety is my new normal. And these days, my number can shift by the hour…or even the minute. Yesterday, with the sun on our backs, Sloan and I made a makeshift tent in our driveway and for a small window of time, my number was at a two. That, to me, is an accomplishment, and those little moments, while fleeting, are just as important to recognize.
Sooo here’s where I am currently: I woke up this morning around a six, stayed off my phone and didn’t read the news, stretched, did a workout, had breakfast, and now I’m down to a three. What’s your number?
So grateful to have these two as roommates 💕
Woke up feeling a tightness in my chest, that I initially worried was a symptom (anyone else doing a lot of that lately?) only to realize it was just stress. Saturday mornings have always felt full of hope, with promises of pancakes, get-togethers with friends, and the whole weekend ahead of us. That’s not our current reality, so I tried to make our day as light as possible. I FaceTimed one of my best friends, played Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ album, and made homemade bread with Sloan perched on the counter like she always does. Things are far from normal, but it’s comforting to know that loved ones, good music, and the promise of rising dough remain a constant.
Let’s take a moment to acknowledge we got through this tough week together, even if it’s been virtually! I’d completely forgotten it was Friday until earlier this afternoon, when I finally decided to end the sweatsuit rotation I’d been going through and put on a new blouse and some makeup (unclear if G is going to recognize me when I head downstairs 🙃). I questioned whether or not I should focus on something like eyeliner during such a scary and uncertain time, but I can’t begin to describe the mental shift that happened when I put in a bit of effort and had something special to look forward to. Friday night will always be our date night, even if it looks a little different than it used to. Though there are undoubtedly tougher weeks ahead, for now, I’m feeling grateful that tonight will be filled with cocktails , Love Is Blind (I have *so* many thoughts), and a bit of peace amongst the chaos. x
Last night after I got out of the bath, I decided to spray the same perfume my mom wore throughout my childhood. It’s something I’ve done for years but has fallen by the wayside in the last week or so, along with quite a few other parts of my routine. But as I came down the stairs last night, breathing in the scent, I felt lighter, and was instantly transported to a better mental state. Things feel so overwhelming and vast to even comprehend, and it’s made me more aware of how important it is to recognize and appreciate the simple things that bring us joy. I rounded up a few here that I captured throughout my day, and encourage you to find those little moments to help disconnect from the craziness – they’ll always be there if you’re willing to look. ✨
Some before-bed affirmations for those who need a little light tonight. 💕
Welcome to our new normal, which includes an outfit that’s business on top and pajamas on bottom (anyone else embracing this wardrobe?), and dirty hair thrown into a top knot, complete with a rat tail 😬. The team has been working from home for a week, but a closed office won’t keep us from designing new jewelry! Today’s highlight was getting to see the faces of our amazing employees as we reviewed and approved the pieces you can see here, and as the leader of a small company, I feel both proud and happy that I’ll still be able to provide a little sparkle to your lives (even if it’s paired with a sweatsuit). ✨
One of my friends, who's also a mom from Sloan’s school, reached out about organizing a digital hangout for a few of the girls in their class. Keeping kids entertained all day without leaving the house (especially in LA where it's been raining virtually nonstop for days) has its challenges, so I loved the idea of having them get together, albeit on the computer. We got nine families on a single conference call where each kid shared something for show and tell, the meals they've been eating, ways to pass the time, and at the end each mom read a book of their child's choosing. It was so nice watching the kids connect and I realized it wasn’t just for them, it was for us, too. I wish I could spend more time with these moms, and the irony doesn’t escape me that I felt closest to them during this time when we were unified under these circumstances. We now have a standing 10 AM hangout each morning, and it fills me with an overwhelming amount of love and gratitude to be part of such a caring and thoughtful community. 💕
Hooooooly cow. I’ve asked for a lot of recommendations from you guys, but the sheer number of responses to my question about feel-good movies/comedies was the highest so far! 🎥 You really came through for me (and each other!), and we now have a remarkably long list of movies to get us through the next few weeks. I won’t even mention which I’ve seen and which I haven’t because I love the vast majority of them. Enjoy at your leisure, and know that whatever you pick is pretty much guaranteed to lift your spirits!
