No matter who you are there will be times that you are unmotivated, alone, and have to modify to make movement happen. . It is in those moments that it’s either a part of who you are - or it’s something you do when it’s convenient. . Movement is about your physical AND mental well being. If we have learned one thing from the past few weeks - it’s the importance and the fragility of BOTH. . Every year, in April, the Street Parking Community is challenged to put our core belief to the test: That all you really need to gain and maintain fitness - is a pair of dumbbells. . It started as a fun experiment, and has now become something the members look forward to and talk about year round. . This year, with so many stuck at home - limited in equipment, space, and resources - #ProjectApril could not have come at a better time. And this is your opportunity to join in!! . All you need is a pair of dumbbells, a little space in your garage, back yard, kitchen, living room, or bedroom - and a determination not to lose your progress or give up on your goals during this time! . Training at home is more than possible and something I’ve grown to love so much - even at #35weekspregnant . . Now is the time to realize that consistency is more important than anything else. Intensity is more effective than volume. And #morethannothing is more than enough. . Getting close to delivery in the midst of a global pandemic....cool. . I feel physically great at #35weekspregnant to be honest. I’m scaling workouts a ton - but that’s mostly just to be smart and to keep my hips from being too tight so that #BabyB has enough room to get into position. . I know for sure I eat way fewer calories (calories...not meals or food volume) than I did when I was pregnant with Knox. It’s not on purpose at ALL. It’s just a bi-product of almost never eating out - especially now. . With that said my weight is the same as it was 2 weeks ago and I want to make sure #B has the success with breastfeeding that Knox did so I will do more to bump it up. . With the crazy restrictions on hospitals and even on my birth center now, there is a VERY strong chance I will choose to deliver at home. . That course of action is NOT advice. If you have never considered a natural or home birth and are currently pregnant - now is not the time to do something drastic. This option is only something you should think about if you’ve had no complications, health issues, and are in the right mind frame to do it. . . . #SocialDistancing is about protecting those at higher risk. Our elderly, and immune-deficient population deserve that respect as much as we can give it. . But - there is also a HUGE part of our population at a higher than necessary risk due to their own personal lifestyle choices and daily habits. Like it or not - this is just the truth. . Right now, many are higher risk not only for viral infection and complications, but all of the time - living an unhealthy lifestyle increases the risk for a whole host of issues. Situations where - had you been in a better physical position to begin with - you may have been able to increase your odds of a better outcome. . This is not just a time to protect others. It’s also a time to get REALLY honest with ourselves about if we are doing enough DAILY in our regular lives to put ourselves in the best position possible for what life throws our way. . I’m not talking about going 100% grass fed, vegan, plant based, paleo, working out all day followed by yoga and an hour of meditation. I’m talking about small changes. Better choices. Taking ownership of the harm so many of us are doing to ourselves without a global virus to blame. . Take this time to take stock and re-gain the power over your own life and health.
