An educated girl can lift her community and change the world. Today, more girls than ever are going to school and staying in school. More are gaining the skills they need to succeed in the world of work. This is the kind of progress @Unicef_uk work tirelessly for and I am proud to support them today and every day #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2020
This week, @UNICEF, together with @planinternational and @unwomen launched the most comprehensive report on the progress for girls over the past 25 years, with a key focus on the significant barriers teen girls still face today. To accelerate progress, the report demonstrates the need to focus on three critical issues: ending gender-based violence, child marriage and FGM; advancing girls’ education and skills; and improving girls’ health. While more are in school, fewer are married and becoming mothers, there’s so much more to do – girls are now leading change and making their voices heard.
Australia is burning. Over 20 people have died, 500 million animals and thousands of homes have been lost. These extreme weather events will keep increasing as long as we fail to adequately reduce global CO2 emissions. Please call on your government to take urgent action on the climate crisis and, if you can, consider donating to local fire services (info in 4th pic) or to wildlife charities (link in bio). Thank you.
