"How do you manage to live and enjoy a balanced lifestyle whilst staying fit?" I've let go! - not entirely, but I've let go of striving for my past, my leaner/skinnier days. One thing's for sure is, it's not easy; and regardless of how many insta fitness people tell you they're so much happier and that life is more balanced, I guarantee it was a hard journey getting there and staying there. I've had leaner days, and as an Asian women, it's especially daunting for others to witness the change and make comparisons. To this day I'm told time and time again on how I've 'grown' - (muscle is not a thing for asian females!!) Itโ€™s not rainbows and sparkles all year round, because everyone will have their episodes of shaming when placed in front of a mirror. Triggering moments like seeing an unflattering photo (which may seem fine to others) happens to everyone, but hand to heart I'm a much happier person and Iโ€™m sure you guys see it too with some of the messages received! Dinner dates are more relaxed, I'm not constantly hungry and most importantly mental health is running on rainbows! I used to chase for salads, skip all kinds of carbs or allow only the tiniest bit of bread if Iโ€™ve โ€œearnedโ€ it; but over time youโ€™ll realise thereโ€™s more to life than just constantly kicking yourself over that bit of blubber. I have folds when I sit, my arms bulge out a little when theyโ€™re by my side, my face isnโ€™t as trimmed, my thigh gap is no longer as wide as sponge bobs, belly sticks outs after a meal; and all of these things ARE OKAY!! Hell no, theyโ€™re not shown on billboards, but EVERYONE has one/if not, all of them!! So ladies, next time youโ€™re beating yourself up for not looking a certain way, stop, reset and know thereโ€™s nothing wrong! Life goes beyond the realms of looks, find your happiness in a balanced lifestyle! Lastly, thanking the bubba for sticking by through thick and thin on this, his reaction to aesthetic changes has only been positive, with love and support growing bigger and bigger to help me achieve a happier/healthier self๐Ÿ’• Outfit: @nikehkg

Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, hygiene precautions as always and if you do decide to visit a fitness facility, then ensure you're aware of their cleaning/virus measures. Wipe where possible, mask up if you must (especially crowded gyms, but I've tried deadlift-ing with a mask ๐Ÿ˜‚like a deathly sauna!!) Here's a little throwback of myself with my world's favourite man and biggest supporter ๐Ÿ’• Corona biz wiz, for those who aren't aware Hong Kong has put in place quarantine measures for those travelling into the country as of today, and thus, people were (or are) most likely rushing back now. This could mean another wave of cases and so.. PLEASE CONTINUE TO BE ON TOP OF HYGIENE PRECAUTIONS! โœ… WEAR A MASK, its easy, simple, there are myths going around saying they're useless and people abroad are shunned for wearing them, but I'm sure its proven to be somewhat beneficial given HK's dense demographic and slow rising cases over the past few weeks. Protect yourself, protect others, and prevent the spread! โœ… if you or other members under your roof have recently travelled or feel unwell, then please stay at home for 2 weeks! Weekend Downtime! ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Spent the past few days disconnecting from social media, only picking up my phone for work purposes and screen time was down by 41%!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Itโ€™s important to take time off once in a while to really engage in activities or others without the temptation of aimless scrolling๐Ÿ“ฑ Even my mind feels clearer๐Ÿคฉ Spent Sunday working then a little pre-dinner activity with the bubba๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Went for a 4 lap run along the seafront with a gorgeous sunsetting view ๐ŸŒ… Bubba and I gradually picked up the pace over every kilometre โžก๏ธ swipe for speed, then finished off with mini circuits of run drills and stationary exercises ๐Ÿ˜š Nice way to end the week + built up an appetite!! Turn that frown upside down, and smile to best Monday blues!!!

Social Media and Mental Health 4 years ago I embarked on a fitness Instagram account to keep myself accountable, then YouTube because my MSc dissertation gave me too much spare time, and without a doubt I had caught more attention than I had imagined. The birth and boom of social media has been both a blessing and a curse over the years, and then to be swept in fitness scene - it can be a handful. Being asian and small.. Iโ€™ve struggled a lot with body image, then to add on social media exposure, the pressure almost doubles. As an โ€œinfluencerโ€ (Grandma cooking fitness influencer ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿผ) from few years back, I (or we) never imagined or planned to expose so much of our lives online. What started as an account to keep myself accountable and quick random video whilst during my tedious MSc dissertation, became a quick storm that swept me into this realm of โ€˜๐™˜๐™ง๐™š๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™˜๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉโ€™ and chasing for numbers. Social media has been a blessing in helping me connect with so many around the world, sharing content that is relatable such that we align on experiences, giving the โ€œyouโ€™re not aloneโ€ support, but to every coin, thereโ€™s a flip side. Iโ€™ve had many struggles over the years, from tears in bed to tears in the toilet of a random mall, moments that were extra hard with online exposure, biggest being body image, keeping up with the online fitness expectations - because at the end of the day.. all you see if images or videos. Then thereโ€™s the old and passed struggles that were detrimental to relationships, being caught up in โ€˜capturing the perfect momentโ€™ or making time to โ€˜create contentโ€™ that we almost lose ourselves or miss out on the experience and neglect loved ones. Lastly, itโ€™s the keyboard warriors who mindlessly act on platforms without consequences, thats probably the biggest contributing factor/micro traumas to mental health. And so, following on from my last streak of kindness, if you donโ€™t have anything nice to say online, then swallow it up/keep it to yourself and move on, save someoneโ€™s day from going into misery and use these platforms for a more positive change. Lastly - wash your hands, alcohol wipe your ๐Ÿ“ฑ& donโ€™t spit in public please!

Orecchiette Bolognese๐Ÿ Once you see it, youโ€™ll crave it ๐Ÿ˜ memories of school dinners ๐—œ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€: - pasta of your choice (I chose orecchiette for its chewy texture) - Minced beef - 1/2 large onion - Medium sized carrot - 2-3 cloves garlic - Cherry tomatoes - Canned chopped tomatoes - Dry red wine - Beef stock cubes - Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt, pepper - Bay leaves - Thyme - Basil ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ: 1. Finely chop/dice the garlic, onion, carrot and halve the cherry tomatoes. 2. In an oiled medium heat pan, brown onions and garlic until onions are slightly translucent. 3. Turn up the heat and add beef, breaking it down with your cooking spatula until browned, then throw in the diced carrots 4. Pour in 1/2 cup of red wine and simmer 2-3 minutes. 5. Add remaining ingredients except for salt and pepper. 6. Simmer for ~30 minutes on low to medium heat, until the sauce thickens. 7. Cook pasta ๐Ÿคฉ, either ladle on the sauce and mix on a plate, or mix it in a heated pan + GENEROUSLY add Parmesan ๐Ÿง€
