Workout Challenge!!! 20 pull ups with 50 lbs attached (with some kino octane of course 😌) - - Remember, the most effective way to train is to focus on smashing personal records in the 5-8 rep range. - - Building strength in this rep range will carry over most effectively to gaining muscle size, building strength and power and even muscular endurance. - - For example, build up to 100+ lbs pull ups and doing 20 bodyweight pull ups will be a walk in the park. Hell, you may even be able to hit that with 50 lbs. - - Training for muscular endurance specially is a waste of time and inefficient. Training for muscular endurance, results plateau very quickly. And there’s little carryover to strength and power! Focus on getting stronger in the 5-8 rep range and you will become a better athlete all around. - - Interestingly enough, more strength supports more speed too. If you can move 300 lbs, you are going to be incredibly explosive with 150 lbs. Much more so than the person that can only move 200 lbs - - My programs are insanely efficient at developing a drop dead aesthetic physique, becoming a better athlete and having killer endurance too. It's muscle building szn! ⁣ ⁣ One of my keys for consistent improvement is to oscillate between goals. Specifically, to spend 3-4 months per year focused on getting really lean and sharp (March to June). ⁣ ⁣ A few months eating around maintenance (July to September). And finally, a 5-6 month period focused on packing on strength & muscle (October to March). ⁣ ⁣ This strategy is incredibly powerful for a few reasons! Firstly, it allows for lighting fast progress. ⁣ ⁣ Gains are always going to be fastest the first few months on a muscle building plan. As well, fat loss is always going to be quickest in the first couple months of your cut.⁣ ⁣ If you try to stay in a cut for too long, you are going to burn out, lose muscle and down regulate your metabolism. ⁣ If you try to stay in a lean bulk year round, progress will eventually slow down and fat spillover will become in-evitable. ⁣ ⁣ What makes this super powerful is that after a period of cutting, your body is primed to gain muscle quickly once calories are increased. ⁣ ⁣ During a cut, insulin sensitivity is heightened, nutrient partitioning is elevated.. This allows for better muscle growth signalling once calories are increased. ⁣ ⁣ Furthermore, your body is primed to burn off fat super quickly after a period of lean bulking since higher calories increase circulating leptin levels in your body. This serves to up-regulate your metabolism. ⁣ ⁣ By alternating between periods of cutting and lean bulking you can maximize your physique progress and capitalize on the anabolic rebound from cutting and the metabolic benefits from lean bulking. ⁣ ⁣ Best of all, there's a massive psychological benefit to doing this. By shifting goals we can have a ton of fun with our training. ⁣ ⁣ What’s more, this cycle is unbelievably fulfilling. Who the heck wants to be cutting around thanksgiving & christmas and the harsh winter conditions lol?! ⁣ ⁣ Spring is the perfect time to get your beach body and summer is the perfect time to focus on maintenance and enjoy yourself.
