Long but necessary post. 🖤
My Gigi called me earlier today to make sure I survived the weekend at work & thanked me for being such a delight at Christmas. She was happy to see me back to myself and had hoped I wasn’t going to be sad while with the family given recent events. She is so cute, she took her hearing aids out and just stared at us like she knew what we were talking about half the time... .
At Christmas, my Aunt gave a prayer for the family and my Gigi cried, we all knew it was going to be a hard day for her & tried to just keep her in the conversation so she would be okay. She later talked to me about wanting a new Christmas tree, one with lights already on it, we went on to discuss what height etc. (I didn’t know she didn’t decorate at her house until after my Aunt said she showed up & she shoved all of the Christmas decorations at her to take from the house). .
We have always received handmade ornaments over the years from my very talented Stepmom, this year’s was one that I will never put away. Seeing my GIgi open it was the sweetest & saddest thing I’ve ever seen that I had to step away to compose myself. Grandpa will forever be missed; the house will always be a reminder of the beautiful life they built over the last 65 years but Gigi is the true treasure in our family. 💕✨👵🏻
