My last song (my B-side) got taken down for some reason 😳 Here’s one I just wrote and recorded, as per usual nothing fancy just a computer and guitar and me. Strange times, dark times and troubled times for many. I’m just trying to bring some light into mine by reigniting that flame of inspiration. I’m not posting for any other reason other than trying to overcome my own fear of failure and not feeling good enough to walk back in the ring. We’ve all got our insecurities and I’m not unique in that. Hope everyone is staying safe and sending you all love. I used stock footage of light leaks aka it’s legal and the song is mine became I just wrote it. 💗👍🏻💗

We decided to make a sign to put by our mailbox as a message of love to our neighbors. It’s definitely effecting us all differently. My kids go from feeling totally fine to falling apart. Isolation isn’t easy for them but it’s a relief to know we’re all in this together from a safe distance! 💗🙏🏻💗

I can’t promise to post a song everyday but I’m promising to work on one each day. My only objective with this little experiment is to give myself 2 hours a day to write a song idea and record it on garage band, with no pressure, no judgment just doing it to keep me sane during an insane time. I cut the end of this song off by accident, my computer died and I’m too lazy to plug it back in. But you get the feeling. Keep your eyes wide on those silver linings... Who knew Cassini footage and my voice felt so right. I am guided by Saturn 🪐 ♑️ 🪐 PS I love, love, love reverb

For the past few years I’ve been struggling to feel inspired musically. I made excuses that I was too busy and too overwhelmed with life to focus on music. Truth was is that my spark had got dimmed and I was scared it would never come back. Nothing like slamming the brakes on life as we know it to make me remember why I pick up a guitar and sing. It’s simply because it makes me feel alive and makes me happy. It’s that simple. When you take the trappings of your own expectations away it’s very freeing. I’m going to use this extended down time to finally work on some music and attempt to relight that spark. I‘m doing a experiment to see if I can write a song a day without judgment. I’ll share some from time to time. Don’t expect quality recordings. It’s me doing one take on my computer’s crappy mic and some stock footage. 🪐🪐🪐🪐

These are trying and difficult times and many face unprecedented hardships. As my beloved Italy is in the eye of this storm Italians are also teaching us a master class in humanity and community from afar. From singing from balconies to this in a Milan apartment complex, the only silver lining from all this is that many of us have been re-evaluating our values and realizing what matters most. It’s these moments. #Repost @natgeo ・・・ Video by @gabrielegalimbertiphoto I The view outside my office. Until 20 days ago, I hardly knew any of my neighbors, and many of them didn't know each other either. Now we all work out together every day at 6:00 p.m. In the middle of the storm created by the coronavirus, with the sadness that affects everyone these days, it's nice to see how people try to endure. #coronavirus #covid19 #pandemic #milano #italy

So many thoughts and feelings right now. A lot of justified anxiety and fear. This is the great unknown. If anything has made us all question our humanity, our lives, how we live and what truly matters then COVID 19 is it. Many of us live in a bubble and the bubble burst. My family and friends around the world are locked down. People we know are sick. We have no control, but what we can control is our actions. We are cutting our trip short it’s clearly the wise thing to do. We’re following the guidelines and since we’ve been here we’ve all kept our world very small and limited our movements and interactions. This too shall pass but not without some serious reckoning it seems. Here is my daughter Scarlett and my dear friend Jaime’s daughter Leona taking a final walk on the beach. Jaime is an ER doctor. I have deep admiration for her and all first responders, nurses and doctors who at this time are going to be facing this head on like she will when she gets home. Sending everyone love, strangers and friends alike.

Yesterday I jumped in the car with my kids and a couple of their friends then drove many hours south until we hit the ocean. This is supposed to be spring break for my kids but since they’re not going to be back in school for a moment, I’m trying my best to create some normal out of an entirely surreal situation. We are in quiet beach town and making no unnecessary group outings minus a few trips to the ocean and doing our best to keep our world small. I feel selfish posting this because I know it’s such a privilege to be able to enjoy this view at this moment. I apologize if it’s insensitive. I know this situation is not to be made light out of, at all. I’m trying to give my kids something they can enjoy in the midst of these dark times as I have a feeling this is the beginning.

It’s International Women’s Day, I feel lucky to know so many brilliant women who constantly inspire myself and others. From the moment a woman is born we are sent subliminal messages telling us from birth to stay small, be nice and look pretty. Even as a woman in my 40’s I’m still dismantling the effects of the patriarchy in all aspects of my life. Women are the fabric that hold it all together, women are a integral part of all our communities and yet many of our personal choices are still dictated by the opinions and whim’s of men. Even during this important reckoning of toxic masculinity, I’ve encountered so many men both friends and strangers that still don’t fundamentally understand how the predominantly white male dominated patriarchy has perpetrated so much suffering for many. However I have hope, because the more we stand in our truth, the more we don’t have to suffer in silence and the more we stand our ground the more the ground shakes and shifts occur. So on this day, I send love to my sisters all over the world who continue to show up and hold up half the sky (including those who identify as women) today and everyday is our day. 🙏🏻 #internationalwomensday #everydayisinternationalwomensday

Please keep Nashville in your prayers today. Last night’s severe storms produced a huge tornado that ripped through downtown Nashville, Mt Juliet, Germantown and East Nashville. I hope everyone I know and love are safe and my heart breaks for all those who have lost loved ones. One thing I know about Nashville is that it’s community spirit is huge and I know we will all band together to help those in need. My family and home is safe. My neighborhood was a few miles south from the tornado’s path, it’s so surreal how a couple of miles down the road this is happening while my neighborhood is unscathed. Consider donating to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund link above. Look at my stories for other links and ways to help. #nashvillestrong #nashville
