I haven’t discussed this much. For the better part of the last decade I found myself running around from studio to studio discussing the breaking news of the moment. It was a whirlwind. In the craziest of days I’d be on air from 4:30am until past midnight - debate nights, election nights and beyond. It appears alluring, and in some moments it is, but I’m gonna be real: it’s an addiction. I took much of the last year “off” to reflect, write, organize and plan. What I can tell you for sure: politics is about big ideas. You don’t need to have the most viral response or get the most coverage or have the biggest following. In the long term, it’s about the hard work on the ground and the big ideas. People remember your work. I am so grateful to the folks who show up behind the scenes, who write, who organize, who make the calls and don’t seek attention or political gains. This is about something bigger than the immediate. The world, the universe, our children and families depend on us to rise up. And in the end, it’s the good people who show up for one another that matter. I stand by that. ❤️
Happy birthday @darrigoforcongress who is not only an inspirational woman bringing a progressive agenda to Queens and Long Island - but she has used her courageous voice to take on a “Democrat” who is literally caucusing with Republicans, cheering Trump and voting for his support of ICE, among other horrifying things. You thought Dems had the House? Well Tom Suozzi isn’t proving so. Support Melanie! Her primary is 6/23 and she’s petitioning now to get on the ballot!
