I'm so sad to hear that @strangetownco have had to cancel all projects and upcoming shows due to the risk of COVID-19. This is a decision that they've not taken lightly, and was personally heart wrenching.
I know, and lots of us ex-Strange Town members know, how hard everyone works on these shows. I'm so so sorry this has happened, especially at this time of year when many members are preparing to do their last ever Strange Town production. It's an unprecedented situation.
I don't think the impact that Covid 19 is having on the arts is lost on anyone at this point. We're seeing the nationwide closure of our most loved theatres and organisations, some of whom will not have the funds to reopen without our help. But we do have the power to help them. Please, if you can, donate to this incredible organisation.
I met Ruth Hollyman when she started teaching me at nine and moved to join Strange Town at eleven, when the youth theatre itself was barely a year old. I wouldn't be in the position I'm in today without Ruth and Steve's ceaseless faith in me and the tireless work they've done to give every child equal opportunities. But I especially wouldn't be here without their bursaries and personally, their kindness in allowing my family financial leeway when we needed it most.
Please please please donate. If you can, when you can. The link's in my bio. Lots of love. xxx
PS. The first photos are from my favourite play we did ("Love Bites") that I did years ago. Baby T with a fringe and Converse! I played an omniscient drunk teenage Cupid who meets a boy on a park bench, and shows him all the ways in which she failed humanity that day (Valentine's Day) ... And eventually falls in love herself. Although I may not look it, it's one of my happiest memories. Ever.
Penance starts tonight at 9pm on @channel5_tv. Prepare thyselves for grief, deception, sex and Catholicism.
Swipe for a collection of real life angels, including the rockstar @juliegraham, whose boot collection, wit and talent know no bounds 💘
PS. Episodes 2 and 3 air tomorrow and Thursday. I'm watching them while self isolating (which I'm very privileged to be able to do), lots and lots of love to everyone at this difficult time. Thank you to everyone who is being so conscious of their actions, it's incredible to see such community forming 💘 There's a link in my bio to join your local Mutual Aid group - if there isn't one for your area, form one! #HappyInternationalWomensDay to all my lovelies, and especially these ones.
@glasgowfilmfest has a screening of #OurLadies at 1:30 if you need an occasion to leave the house. (I'm still in my PJ's as I write this. Go in your pajamas if you want. No one will judge. Isn't that the point of women's lib in the first place? Do as you damn well please.)
A joy and a privilege. All of it. 🏴 PS. (Thank you to my beautiful Nanna for her suede coat, @fantouchevintage for the gorgeous shirt, @jakmorganmakeup and @martinecarrollhair for making me feel so incredible and @nicolaclarkecolour for the most stunning blonde to ever come out of a bottle ❣️) #Repost @glasgowfilmfest
